#this is genuinly one of my main issues with the pjo fandom

At this point everyone and their mother know that I'm a proud German and like to bring in fun stuff or specific things about my country up once in a while. Generally I'm trying to stir away from it, seeing as this is my PJO blog and I don't want to bore you all. But I think it's time to play my "As a German" card and say that the PJO fandom needs to take the words "fascist", "eugenicist" and "nazi" out of their collective vocabulary. Now I don't think I need to explain what those things have to do with my country. I will however explain the fact that German children tend to me made very aware of the meaning of those words. We learn about our history and the crimes committed. We learn about the past ideologies of the Third Reich and how to dismantle them. I especially have grown up being very sensitive to these things, as my parents have placed great importance on me understanding the whole of my country's history. That includes the Third Reich.
And as such to say that I am frankly horrified at the way the PJO fandom treats these very loaded terms is an underestimate. I have seen multiple different people comparing Luke and the TA to Nazis, saying they are eugenicists or even fascists.
Which is just genuinly so harmful because they are not.
I won't go into the specifics of the way they are not because it would go beyond the scope of this post while also being very easily searchable simply by googling the definition of the aforementioned words.
Using labels such as "Nazi", "Eugenicist" and "Fascist" on people and things that are not waters the term down a lot. Which is genuinely harmful because there very much are still IRL people with those beliefs! We cannot allow ourselves to forget the true horror of these words, because that would allow these horrors to return. If every villain starts being a "nazi"- then how can we recognize the actual nazi?
This fandom seems to love the "fiction has an impact on real life" argument. As a German I am genuinely asking you to apply this here. Now don't get me wrong- it's fine to point out these ideologies and practices in fiction aswell as parallels should they be found. I myself pointed out how Camp Jupiter's Wolfhouse is borderline eugenicist- but you NEED to do your proper research first. There are plenty of other valid ways to criticize characters, especially Luke, if you want to do it. But calling him these names is just genuinely harmful.
Please be careful using these words, and remember who and what stands behind them.

Okay! So ,I have reached about a third of chapter 9 of TLO and ngl I'm getting rly tired now. So please excuse me if this post is a bit less energetic than the others. Anyway so APPARENTLY THERE'S A CURSE OF ARCHILLIES NOW!? AND BOTH LUKE AND PERCY HAVE IT???? Ngl when it was mentioned that weapons didn't work on Luke/Kronos earlier I honestly assumed it was, well- Kronos and his frankly OP powers doing this. Luke's body "being prepared" reffering to what I assumed was just a bunch of training. NEVER in my life could I have thought that there was a Archilles Curse involved. I wonder what Luke's weak spot is, and what he may have seen when he bathed. Probably Thalia and Annabeth, May too with a good chance. Also ffs what the HADES was that with Nico!? Headcanon that Percy got some good Luke flashbacks there lmao. (Atleast Nico did go back on the "betrayal" at the end) Honestly, at this point I'm starting to feel bad for the guy, as genuinly apathetic as I am to him in every other aspect at this point. Then again with his curse Percy definitely got something cool going on again! I hope that'll be able to spark some intrigue in me again. Ngl I'm PRAYING it'll go like that because in his basics I do like the guy, I just think his issues and stuff are just boring compared to everyone else as of now. Also love how Percy decided to just- pull up with 40 demigods on what's basically Zeus' front door to tell him to get off his ass. Say what you want that move is badass. NGL I'm also hyped for the scene of a young luke with Thalia but I wanna save that for a time where I am NOT actively wishing to fall asleep. So I'll deffo check that one out tomorrow! On an off note, I have decided that I'm going to end this series of me posting about reading the books after the end of this one. I do still plan on reading the rest of the books ofc, but Ido want to return to posting stuff besides pjo on my main blog again. I also want to get into the fandom. Which will inevitably lead to me seeing spoilers (dw it's fine, ik it's unavoidable). And tbh I don't rly think the series has any real appeal continuing with spoilers, since the point is sharing my view as a first time reader with little to no influence and previous knowlege. Not to worry though! I plan on opening a pjo side blog once I'm done with the OG series where I'll occasionally post my thoughts on the books as I read them. Just not as regulary as I do on here.
As always I ask everyone to please not spoil me^^

For the Great PJO Ask Analysis event: (ask no. 6)
You've got a topic in PJO you'd like for me to analyze?
Riordan's representation of the gods' and how they are tied to their respective domains.
Want to share YOUR analysis of stuff with me and my followers?
Characters such as Luke and Alabaster demonstrate that there could have been other rebellions from demigods prior to the events of the series. Luke starts a war based on his childhood trauma and his experiences of being at Camp Half-Blood. Alabaster, though introduced after Percy Jackson and the Olympians, wants to continue the war Luke started because the war was being fought for the right reasons, Percy is remembered as the saviour and the gods' massacred the remaining demigods. Thoughts?
Want to hear my take or shares yours of different characters and aspects of the PJO universe?
The show is a good book adaptation but not necessarily a good show. Pacing, characterisation and reliance on knowing the book series hinders its potential. The films, on the other hand, were not just bad book adaptations but also bad films: the saving grace being the actors' and actresses' performances.
However, both adaptations highlight issues with the original books. For the films, most of the characters (Percy, Annabeth, etc.) have few traits and little personality, making them bland. For the show, worldbuilding issues glossed over in the books are more obvious such as the gods' system of control, Camp Half-Blood's organisation which has potential to create major issues later on. Thoughts?
Riordan's representation of the gods' and how they are tied to their respective domains.
I don't really have much to say on this one, as my main talking points were already all brought up in your previous asks about the gods and how they act and work as character, so I'll be skipping questions like that about the gods since I genuinly have nothing more of worth to say. Sorry.
Characters such as Luke and Alabaster demonstrate that there could have been other rebellions from demigods prior to the events of the series. (.......) Thoughts?
Classic case of "History is written by the victor". Fact is that to the gods (and most the fandom) Percy is the saviour. Rightful gripes with the system are pushed out of the mind as Percy get's glorified. Luke and other TA characters and their good aspects are ignored. Or if they are talked about then their role in the TA is minimized. Most fans don't even know Alabaster or the true numbers of the Battle of Manhatten, considering how they behave. (Like for you guys, only 16 kids of CHB died in that battle. Yes it was horrid but stop acting like those were world war level losses). They just simply never read Demigod Diaries. The show is a good book adaptation but not necessarily a good show. (........) Thoughts?
Same as above, I already said everything about the books and show I want to say that has any worth.
