how the fuck did i write this
"The Earth dies slowly, at first. Faer rivers and oceans overflow, then recede and dry out. Faer greenery shrivels up, hot places get hotter, cold places flood, and pollution rules the skies.
"Fae die slowly, but surely, and faer lover, the Moon, watches faer."
"Doesn't that make the moon sad, Grannie?"
"Yes, very. Did you know the Moon cries? When the Moon gets sad, fae cry pearls. Fae cry pearls and those pearls are thrown into the sky. They made the stars we can see in our telescopes, the ones we can see on clear nights in the city and every night in the country. Sometimes, those pearls become shooting stars, and they fall to Earth. They gather in the ocean and clambs eat them, guard them. The Earth wants to protect the Moon's tears, when fae can.
"But back to the end of the world.
" 'Lover,' the Moon will wail, 'You've grown too fragile to continue travel. Please, stay in my domain, the one you've humbly bestowed to me.'
" 'My Pearl,' the Earth will call, 'You're crying. Come here.' The Moon will never betray faer Earth, and the Earth will brush faer pearls away, pluck them from the Moon's face and fling them into the sky. They will spend their last nights this way."
"Grannie, when the Earth dies... where does sh- where do fae go?"
"An excellent question, Halley. The Moon will build a tomb on faer land. The moon you see in the sky has a castle, just for the Earth's Moon. The Moon will ask fae to stay there. Fae will die there, in the domain fae gave the Moon so long ago."
