how to make a tumblr post (and get notes!)
Have never seen any post discuss these exact things, so i'm sharing my insights with y'all*
Tumblr media
Use images. They don't have to be good or spectacular like this extremely coherent thing I just made. They just need to catch the eye break up dashboard monotony.
The gif search feature is an unreliable wild card at best and a NSFW eye gouge at worst, but it gives credit to the op of the gif
Tumblr media
If you're an artist your whole post is your images, so skip to the links and tags section of this post because the rest won't help much.
-> Image Descriptions
When making a post that contains images, hover over an image and click the meatballs icon in the lower right corner of the image. Click "update description" to add a description. It isn't always necessary, but it is very courteous for a variety of accessibility reasons.
-> Text
Break up your text. Run-on sentences are standard here, lack of punctuation too, you can really do whatever you want, but avoid massive blocks of text. unless you've got a really incendiary opening line and the entire center of that granite chunk of text is actually comedy gold, hard-hitting tumblr journalism, or one of those zany confessional posts that can be followed up by the drive thru meme
Tumblr media
break up
your text.
and go light on the ALL CAPS. save it for emphasis or when you're feeling very unhinged or saRcAStiC y'know how that goes, i don't need to explain it. this site has a very dry tone to its posts so caps are rare. also periods
Bullet points and numbered posts are good and fine. The "Chat" post option is used less often these days, but different groups found uses for it so it sticks around.
Titles Matter
they help break up text and put people at ease. they are best for informative, mature posts but can make you look like a square in more relaxed conversations. sometimes they are also great for emphasis in a comedic sh*tpost (censorship is entirely up to you, btw. you don't have to censor much on tumblr except titties and genitals).
Tumblr automatically shortens long posts now, but etiquette asks that you tag #long post if you want to avoid clogging up someone's dash. It don't matter too much though, this is the "color of the sky" site, so get used to posts being too long
That being said "READ MORE" is a fantastic feature. Use it when you want some level of privacy like "hey, only click below if you want to hear about my problems" or "click below to read my 18+ fanfic." Read more is also great in case you want to delete something forever. If a reblogged post has a read more, but op deleted the og post, that content is gone (readmore has to be on the og post at time of posting for this to work, btw; edits to og post do not span all reblogs)
the other bells and whistles like colored font or italics are helpful in improving text, but we don't really rely on them. every mode of looking at this site alters those aspects somehow so we often ignore them
-> Links
Hint: People don't want to click links. We don't know where they're taking us. Most of us are on our phone and don't want to open another tab or leave the app to go on the browser. We're cozy here on Tumblr and do not wish to be whisked away (unless it's a rickroll)
Don't leave the link thumbnail to do all the work, like so
Tumblr media
add a little sneak peak info, maybe your favorite line from the article or a reason why it's important for people to know the info on the other side of that link. Sell it!
When you're adding a link into a list, i.e. no large thumbnail just a line of text leading you to another site, try not to copy/paste the link as is
"https://......"
No one wants to click on that it's gross and scary. It's screams "meh, i'll click later if i feel like it." If the build up to the link is too good to resist ("if you want to save the orphaned puppies here's the link") then that http mess is sufficient.
Otherwise, dress your links up a little by including the title or a description of what the link goes to:
Tumblr media
Or, if it's an informal post where you're just popping info in to back up whatever insane thing you just said, just write something like "link here" or "(x)" and hyperlink it.
-> Tags
artists, writers, and other creators: leave a tag on your creative content that makes it easy for blog visitors to see it all at once. e.g. "My work" and we click on that while on your blog and see only your works
You can have up to thirty tags on any post. All will make your post show up in searches and followed tags (it used to be only the first five tags that got you traction). However,
Tumblr media
Please. Do not tag everything you can possibly imagine being relevant to your post because
It's called tag spam and it's against TOS
Everyone here hates that
No one is going to check all those tags ever. Someone might search one five years from now and accidentally find your post hanging out in the ether and they'll still ignore it.
Your imagination is wicked tiny because I guarantee the perfect tag is going to be something indecipherable and seemingly niche.
Follow popular tags (or at least be aware of them)
Tumblr media
If yours is an off-the-cuff post and you don't have time to find out what a niche group is into then wing it, sure, idc. this is also the shitposting site do whatever you want
Don't put your hate in the fan tags. This is the unapologetically-like-dumb-things site and your negativity is not wanted. You can still complain, just avoid tagging to get the attention of the fans of whatever you're complaining about. That enables pvp and even nonfans will know you deserve the backlash
-> Audio & Video
clickable by nature because we all love noise and moving images so there's no special way to share posts like this. just post them with good tags and maybe a one-liner, and they'll sell themselves
Tip: it's nice to add descriptions to these too but it isn't common
Protip: if the audio is the best part of the video (e.g. a baby burps REALLY loudly and it's hilarious) please caption or tag "Unmute!"
-> mkay bye
that's all i can think of right now. will update later if i remember something
---
*this is year eleven of my time on tumbles and i studied marketing in college for like six of those years and have been applying that bupkis to tumblr ever since. every post i see that gets no traction and every lovely artist that goes nowhere on here bothers me so deeply and i sincerely want y'all to succeed <3 <3
+ If you find this helpful and want to support my blog, I have a ko-fi!
+ If you're concerned about my mental health from being on Tumblr so long and want to contribute to my "get better" fund, I have a ko-fi!

Note
Stop calling going to boarding school a cult, it's offensive to actual cult survivors.
I'll assume you're asking this question out of good faith, and answer as such.
The "boarding schools" i went to were part of the TTI, or troubled teen industry. They quite literally fit the definition of a non-religious cult using the BITE model. I use boarding school as a shorthand because not many people know what residential treatment centers are.
They are not boarding schools how you think of boarding schools. They are groups headed by either one or a few people dedicated to completely breaking a teen by any means possible and indoctrinating them into a new way of thinking.
They were by definition cults, or if you want to get really technical and down to the nitty gritty, high control groups. Not every cult is religious, though most are.
Here are some sources. I'd also recommend heal-online.org and the r/TTI subreddit to learn more. You can also look up "breaking code silence."
Content warning for cults and child abuse.

Follow welcomedhappiness Farewell online privacy

Follow pizzaalle just get a VPN?
Follow earth-ruins You can’t just tell people to ‘get a VPN (Virtual Private Network)’. Buying a VPN is like buying a house. It’s very very important. Having no VPN or having a ‘wrong’ one can seriously damage your life. Especially for Americans because their privacy laws are garbage. I am going to try explain why you should get a VPN but bare with me, I am from Germany and my English is far from perfect. Let’s start with a simple test. Click this link here: https://whatismyipaddress.com/ It will tell your IP adres, your ISP (internet service provider), and your location. The location might not be very accurate, but then again, it’s just a simple website. Imagine what the government can do! So basically, everyone can find out where you live. But there is more danger. Your ISP. Your ISP logs your every move online and they are required to keep it in case the government wants access to it (or if a 3rd party wants to buy your data (yikes). They have everything. What websites you visit. How long you stay on a website. What you download. Your search terms. European laws are more subtle on this but if you are from the US you are #@*#&, especially because Trump doesn’t support the open internet. It’s scary but maybe in the future you can’t get a job because the recruiter knows your searched on ‘how to deal with depression’ or anythings else that’s supposed to be private because it’s your f*cking right. Or you get a $100k fine because you pirated a movie 15 years ago. You need a VPN. You’re dumb for not using one. but what does a VPN do? A VPN encrypts all your data so if it were be intercepted no one can ‘crack the code’ and damage your privacy. Usually being online goes like this (simplified): Your computer —-> ISP (—–> keeps data —–> sells it) But with a VPN it goes like: Your computer —–> VPN (encrypts data)—–> ISP (ISP can’t see shit) Furthermore, a VPN hides your IP address and location by giving you another IP address located in Spain for example (you can often choose from a list and change as many times as you want). Now that you know why you should get a VPN and what is does it is important to educate yourself because people often choose the wrong VPN. VPN providers are also businesses and have to obey the law. If you choose a VPN provider located in the US then you are throwing your money away because the laws in the US shits on your privacy. If the US gov wants the provider to give all their logs they have to obey.  The ISP  still can’t see what you are doing online and sell your data but the US gov can interfere with your VPN provider so NEVER CHOOSE A PROVIDER LOCATED IN THE US. I just wanted to make that very clear so my followers don’t buy false security. There is still more danger!  Who says your VPN provider isn’t selling your data? You need to check their logging policy. Do they keep logs? If yes, what for? For how long do they keep them? Tip: Choose a provider who doesn’t keep logs More about law  The US is part of the Five Eyes program (the worst): The Five Eyes, often abbreviated as FVEY, is an intelligence alliance comprising Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States. These countries are bound by the multilateral UKUSA Agreement, a treaty for joint cooperation in signals intelligence (source) There is also a Nine Eyes (bit better) and Fourteen Eyes Program (better).  You don’t want a VPN provider who is located in one the Five Eyes countries.  If you had to choose go for a provider located in a country that’s part of the Fourteen Eyes Program or even better, go for a country that isn’t part of any program! I know this is a shitty explanation and please pardon my english but now it’s time to do your own research. Take your privacy seriously. Maybe WWIII breaks out and you get killed for liking the ‘wrong’ FB-page. Go to this website: https://thatoneprivacysite.net/simple-vpn-comparison-chart/ Make sure that your future VPN provider both has green boxes for Privacy Jurisdiction and Privacy Logging. I recommend ovpn.se and trust.zone. ovpn is located in Sweden so they are part
of the 14 Eyes Program and they keep minimal logs. Their business ethics, however, are alright. Trustzone is located in the Seychelles. No country can interfere and their privacy jurisdiction is the best you can get. The US want your data but needs to get it from Trustzone? The Seychelles will simply give them the finger and wave them goodbye. However, this makes this provider very appealing for people who torrent and criminals because they keep no logs (and that is how it shoud be) Also,  there are almost no marketing efforts so this provider is one the cheapest) Also, often providers such as ExpressVPN are being called ‘The Best’ on websites about VPNs but know that this is just marketing which also makes those provider more expensive (and they too shit on your privacy) This must be the worst article you have ever read but please, please take your privacy very seriously. EDIT: I got many people asking me which provider I use. For those who want to know, I use Trust Zone. They offer a free 3-day trial with no strings attached. But still do your own research!
writing-prompt-s I am also with Trustzone but I think you forgot to explain one of it’s most important features. It protects you when you are using someone else’s Wi-Fi. If you are at Starbucks and you use their Wi-Fi your privacy is at risk. Anyone with ill intentions could steal your information. Especially if you are using an unsecured Wi-Fi hotspot. With a VPN your data gets encrypted so no one can steal it.
Follow rabbittiddy Wait, what’s going, on? Did trump destroy internet privacy with a bill or something? Where’s the news? Oh wait, why am I getting visions of Alex Jones and selling water purifiers?
Follow thecrystalfems He hasn’t yet but he says he wants to. And if he is serious about it it would be really easy to do. Since all our data is already recorded, as the person above explained.
Follow coltrer Trump wants more surveillance of Muslim Americans. This in a country where internet privacy is already close to non-existent. Trust.Zone has a free trial. Use it.  btw this post only has 11k notes? That’s quite disappointing for something this important. Don’t reblog this post to save a life. Reblog this to protect an entire family!
Follow imthedoctor12 @earth-ruins @writing-prompt-s Should I get trustzone for my mobile device?
writing-prompt-s If you use public Wi-Fi, then yes. Which VPN you use is up to you, amigo. Take @earth-ruinsadvice. Do your own research first.
writing-prompt-s @elvesfromthedeep just brought the current situation in the US to my attention (March 30, 2017). SourcesAnger as US internet privacy law scrapped  Congress just voted to let internet providers sell your browsing history  To all my friends in the US, please read this entire post. Making everyone aware of VPNs is going to be my mission. Your privacy matters. Please reblog this post.
Follow greeneyespurpleheart Don’t tell me you just wanted to scroll past this. Stop looking at pictures of cats for a moment, okay? Don’t you realize how important this is? This is dangerous! ‘America, the best FREE country in the world’ my ass. With this new law your ISP can sell your Internet history which could include passwords, usernames, religion, credit card numbers, race and much more to the highest bidder. So here is what I want you to do. You are going to read the whole thing and before you think ’this is so important. Let me reblog this real quick and go back to admiring cats again-’ NO! Don’t reblog this. Take action first. Then reblog. Sign up for a free trial! Trust.Zone offers one (here). Yes. It might be difficult to set up a VPN for some people. But is that going to stop you from protecting yourself and your family? 30 minutes. 30 minutes is all that it takes. 5 if you know how to install software. The problem with some of you is that you see ‘difficult’ as something negative. I want you to see difficult differently. I need you to push through this stuff. You are going to protect yourself. There is nothing negative about that. VPNs are fun and costsaving too! A VPN bypasses geographical restrictions so you can access websites you normally can’t or you could start Netflix’s one month free trial over and over again- forever. And it’s legal! (unless you use it to buy weapons etc.,) Don’t tell yourself that you are too tired and that you will do this tomorrow. Because that isn’t going to happen and you know it. You have to do this right now. You only have to click on it. Don’t let this/shit/life just happen to you. Take yourself seriously. Get a VPN. Privacy is not a privilege, it’s a fundamental human right
joyfuldefender Ok sorry that it’s so freaking long and also sorry for the language, but this is extremely important. Please reblog!

hey! I just wanted to ask if you’re okay with answering how to play and get granblue fantasy?
Ah I’ll do my best nonnie!!! I’m certainly not the greatest at GBF so if others would like to reblog this and add on so I can reblog it for nonnie, that’d be good!
So TLDR; you can play granblue fantasy on your browser or on an emulator (this is of course, assuming you don’t have the Japanese App Store).
You can play it on your browser by going to this link: https://granbluefantasy.jp/sp/en/
When you do you’ll be taken to this page!
Tumblr media
Obviously click the button that says ‘play now’.
You will prolly want to make a mobage account so you don’t lose any of your information so I suggest making one following these steps. https://japancodesupply.com/pages/how-to-create-a-japanese-mobage-account
Um it’s been a while since I made an account so I’m not sure if I forgot anything, but that’s the basic gist of it!
Now you chose a good time to join because of the festivities under way in gbf, so you have a reeeeeaaallly good chance of getting lots of new characters and lots of rewards.
Take. Advantage. Of. It.
Since you are (I am assuming) joining today (which you should because you have flash gala going on), you should take incredible advantage of how much SSRs you might get because of free spins and crystals.
Save up your crystals!!!! Do not be a fool like me my friend!!! Your tickets and your crystals are your only chance at getting you anything if you save up!!! Unlike some gacha games that don’t really guarantee you getting the character, GBF has it where if you do 300 rolls (90,000 crystals), you get to “spark” them, or trade for them. Save up. I recommend doing this for your fave holiday/limited time unit. 90k May seem daunting, but the team is certainly very generous, so you can slowly accumulate lots of crystals and tickets (btw!!! A single ticket is equivalent to a 1x spawn, which is about 300 crystals! Tickets are a good way to save up your rolls)
Now to the actual gameplay SINCE I NEED TO WARN YALL TO SAVE YOUR SPARK AND NOT BE A FOOL LIKE ME!
Granblue Fantasy has a lot of content. This is especially daunting to those who are just new to a game like this, but don’t worry.
Do this at your own pace. Grinding excessively and at an unhealthy pace WILL TIRE YOU OUT. You will get severely annoyed and hate the game, and that just defeats the point.
Who cares if you go slower than others? Why do you want to waste yourself away so you can be better? So some elitist who spent years playing the game can pat you on the back or something? It’s pointless. You do this at your own pace and don’t care about other’s paces.
You will absolutely have 0 chance of completing a tenth of the content GBF will offer you in a month or two. Don’t be a fool and think you’re hot shit and will be “that guy” who does everything so quick. You will get your ass handed to you faster than you can say Grindblue. Likewise, don’t be upset that you’re not doing much often or don’t have time to play the game. This is for YOUR enjoyment, so go at YOUR pace, not some elitists, not someone who’s spent years playing the game, not anyone else’s- YOURS.
So things like weapon grids, summons, even characters, those take time to build up! You want to play around with different classes and see which ones you like the most (whether for pure aesthetic or actual gameplay- all up to you!). I’m telling you right now, most of the high level content won’t be available until you reach rank 101, so you have plenty of time to build up your weapon grid and find out what works best for you.
Granblue is all about experimenting and collecting. It’s about taking baby steps to crafting weapons and forging gear, slowly building up your power and your characters to do better in battles, and eventually getting where you would like to be.
Your characters that you spawn definitely have an impact, but rarity isn’t the most important part of this game. Yeah sure, you def always want that rainbow, but almost all characters are usable and can function well if put into a good team. That’s where the experimenting comes in. You can always ask others to help you make a grid or choose which characters might be best with your grid, there are plenty of nice people who will gladly explain the technicalities.
Not only that, but GBF and the GBF wiki provide examples of good start grids for early content and eventually high level content- take advantage of it! You can see what you should focus on and what you can do and get the stuff you need. It’s a slow process but you’ll get the hang of it eventually.
Also, don’t think you can get away with maining only one element and ignoring the rest. You will be obliterated. Of course we all have a certain element or class affinity we like, and that’s fine, but DONT IGNORE YOUR OTHER ELEMENTS! THEY ARE VERY MUCH IMPORTANT TOO!!!
Ummmmmmmm I definitely left out a lot of stuff but I don’t want to put you in information overload so this kinda just more like... my mistakes are your warnings absolutely in no shape or form should you be as much of an idiot as I am when playing GBF. I am clown tier my friend.
Happy grinding and remember to start as soon as you can for the sweet sweet bonus!!
