this is such a little thing but while reading the book it never really struck me that they never technically…got the chance to change clothes. i mean yeah it was obvious but it’s only when seeing the show that i am fully realising that it has been THREE EPISODES of them in these clothes and percy has been DUNKED into water so many times that it’s a miracle his clothes aren’t stiff as wood.

it’s a really small detail but idk it really emphasises the way these kids have put EVERYTHING into this quest and have consequently gotten no time to do anything else and i know i was a little shit as a twelve-year old who needed two changes of clothes PER DAY.

I actually don't recall Bruce having Jason hallucinations but he has to have had them in some comic somewhere#writers would not let that opportunity pass

so I said that and then just googled "bruce Jason hallucination" and found someone had catalogued every single jason apperance including cameo mentions and hallucinations and I'm so impressed by this I have to tell you all. That's the level of obsessiveness I was on about Steph but across infinitely more comics. I gotta share it out of respect.

so yeah I control f'd hallucination and he has had some ofc, and I remember this comic!!! It was on scans_daily or something. He hallucinated him thanks to the scarecrow's fear gas.

Then proceeded to just beat the shit out of the Joker screaming Jason's name over and over again. I remember we were talking about this one on scans_daily and it was like "well good thing the Joker doesn't care about Batman's secret identity because he'd definitely know it now"

In my famous post about how Bruce should have just bought up all the wild stuff that happened to Jason when he came back, and explain he did attempt to murder the Joker, but Superman got involved etc, he should have bought up this one too, he actually might have beaten him to death if the Joker hadn't managed to escape.

Raven goes into it believing their only ally will be Ayre and they're willing to make enemies of Arquebus and Overseer at the same time just bc it's the right thing to do even though they don't want to fight Carla and Chatty. and Ayre and Rusty both tell them "hey you should see what you mean to people" and go to lengths to make sure Raven knows that there are people on the ground who are inspired by them and admire them. like!! idk there's something abt both of Ayre and Rusty wanting to reassure Raven and it's like... humanizing if that makes sense? idk when i first got the "Destroy the drive block" mission and Ayre said that she sent out a message to try and get allies i was like "idk if they think Raven means more than 'killer', Ayre :(" (i was very upset abt killing Carla and Chatty still).

Sage telling him he knows the pain he's going through and telling him that he still has some truth left in him, a conviction to protect the cookies. Even if Recluse goes against his own mission of teaching the Truth, Sage recognizes him as a person with good intentions, as misguided as he is. LORD.

I actually think a lot of people misunderstand Sage and idk where its coming from. Sage never forced anyone to find the truth, that's the entire point of his lectures being held in the town square. There is no formal classroom. Cookies are free to listen to him, but they're just as free to leave. He believes in the uniqueness of each perspective, and gladly questions his own in order to perfect his understanding of the world

He's the only one who can truly oppose Recluse's idea of the Truth being nothing but harmful specifically because he somewhat agrees with the notion. The Truth is painful. The Truth is devastating. But it's better to know and learn to adapt than wait for the Truth to sweep you off your feet and plunge you into darkness

hm i may be in an echo chamber but, to me, the appeal of bartylily lies in the fact that despite being pretty out-there in terms of canon— when you place them in a modern au (any au!), it becomes so achingly plausible. expected, even!

like, you definitely already know them. if you've ever met a lily evans (capri jeans, too-tight ponytail, her own personal portable daisy-print hole puncher in her purse) then you know EXACTLY the kind of questionable tattooed bassist she swipes for on tinder. if you've ever had a classmate like barty (disarmingly sleazy, surprisingly sharp, daddy paying his way through his ivy league bachelor's degree) then you know that he ALWAYS has some pretty headband-clad valedictorian girlfriend at a prestigious all-women's libarts college.

they're sophie and howl. they're your two coworkers who bicker cause they clearly want to fuck instead. in high school, james made lily blush sweetly on the apples of her cheeks. barty makes lily turn an ugly, splotchy red all the way down to her heaving chest.

as soon as you configure lily as someone beyond the girlfriend-wife-mother constraints of canon, her brimstone&fire suddenly really complements barty's mischief. she's the type to always assume she's clever enough to conquer whatever slightly-reckless plan she's set out for, armed with naivety and a spreadsheet. she's the type that loves fixing up dirtbags-with-unexpected-depth. lily enjoys fighting her way through a challenge! she gets turned on by being annoyed, though she won't admit it. she wants a yelling match. she relishes having her mettle met. any option besides barty— annoying, complicated, rankling, secretly-tender, obnoxiously-smart, secretive, neurotic barty (!!!) — feels much too boring for someone like lily evans. they will always be soulmates to me idk! more than any other ship...

one of the most heartbreaking aspects of mouthwashing is anya's and curly's relationship i think. like before the thing that curly did to her, they seemed to genuinely be fond of eachother, and anya was fully comfortable with him too. she couldn't bring herself to give curly his medicine because of the pain it caused him and how distressed she was, and how uncomfortable she found herself being around jimmy. i genuinely think that they cared about eachother a lot on a personal aspect, but i feel like something people aren't getting about curly is that he was most likely also scared of jimmy in a sense. but the way he went on about it was completely different in comparison. he tried to calm him down- almost like he knew jimmy would do something horrible. do i think this excuses him not taking jimmy accountable? not really, that was still shitty to do, especially considering the fact that anya was you know. sa'ed. do i think that the situation in which both of them were was extremely difficult and that they both were scared, and that curly took a terrible decision instead of thinking it through? yeah, too. but it's also how even after that, anya and curly seem to care about eachother. anya's last moments were with curly and she used his last painkillers to end it all. he could've helped her, he could've done something, anything, he could've gotten jimmy out of there for the sake of anya. but he knew that it would go wrong, because jimmy... well. you know. there's some interesting emphasis on how curly seems to want to take care of the fact that jimmy literally sa'ed anya. like he was the culprit. when he wasn't. it was shitty of him to not hold jimmy accountable but i think that the fact that even on that aspect, the game tells you how jimmy never took responsability, but that curly always did. anya and curly would've been okay if curly wasn't scared and if he only just... tried to find any other way to take care of the situation. to protect anya. but he wasn't able to.

I saw someone's post the other day about Bruce turning off his emotions in emergencies, with the consequence being that once his mind deems it "safe," all the emotions kinda just pour out at once. I think this works well with him laughing when he means to cry. Imagine, on at least one occassion, he started laughing out of nowhere, a JL member walked it, got scarred for life, and falsely reported that Batsy got dosed with joker venom.

I do love that coping mechanism for him, and yeah I can see him going into near-hysterical relief when something ends. Based on Gotham and the fact that there's likely a specific decontamination protocol specifically for anyone coming out of Gotham during a Clench virus outbreak/Fear toxin exposure/Joker venom going around, they probably have a contingency for Bruce and Joker Venom.

Batman laughing... terrifying. Apocalyptic even. Because even if it succeeded, seeing him lose control probably freaks the rest of them out.

something about steve buying jonathan a new camera is so dear to me. he recognises what he did was wrong and tries to fix it in perhaps the sweetest way possible. it also makes me kind of sad that he felt like he couldn’t give it to jonathan himself + how hopeful he looked after nancy gave it to him. the little smile on his face when he knows jonathan had it is something so precious in a way that i don’t really know how to explain
