Fae Lord Phantom
Read on AO3
Summary:
The King and Queen Fenton are convinced that they're the final line of defense as people no longer fear the Fae of the Other Realm. Their subjects mostly tolerate them for it.
Their Son however holds a secret that would change everything. Good thing the rumor of Fae being unable to lie was, in fact, a lie. They'd never even suspected a thing after the accident with one of their magical artifacts.
Notes: This is a beefed up edit of the Fantasy AU I did for Danny May 2023. Chapter 1 is the least heavily edited from the 1st version but I've added quite a bit more to it. So far the fic is looking like it'll be fairly different in the order that I'll have the chapters play out since not following the prompt lists.
Chapter 1: No such thing as Fae. Nope not at all.
“Did you hear-” The maid chittered to her two coworkers.
...ny
“I did. The King and Queen Fenton are announcing another curfew-” Another cackled.
....anny
“The Great Fae Lord Phantom shall be leading the Hunt post haste!” One made a rather accurate impression of the king. Danny was impressed. His dad was surprisingly hard to mimic.
......Danny.
“The winter air’s perfect to guide the menace to warm prey. So says the cards.” This time it was the queen impersonated. Not as well done as the first lady who mimicked his dad though. She got the accent wrong.
“Prince Daniel!”
That got his attention away from the maids. Got the maid’s attention as well and they paled at the sight of their prince. With a quick bow, they skittered off.
“Hey Sam, Tuck.”
"Too caught up in the castle gossip again?" Sam grinned.
"...No. Well yes. Rumors of the curfew spread already and they haven't even announced it yet." Danny moved to fall in with his friends as they walked.
"Sucks man." Tucker adjusted his new red hat, clearly showing off. He'd just earned it for mastering his 50th spell. No more grey for him. Danny smiled at how the red suited him better.
"I’m just tired of them always blaming the Fae. It's a waste of the kingdom's resources. When I’m king, it’s going to be a mess to clean up.” With a mumble under his breath, just enough for his friends to hear, “The Hunt they fear would be doing us a favor to just take them."
"Buuut it’s not real." Sam rolled her eyes.
"Nope.” Danny ran his hand down his face, clearly exhausted. “Sorry guys, I’m not in the mood to hang tonight. I’m going to retire early to keep my parents from trying to drag me out to see their claimed proof."
Both Sam and Tucker laughed. "Like the time they claimed the ferns were abnormally lush?"
“Or when the sugar was too sweet?” Sam’s laugh died at the pure waste of that venture.
“Oh Oh, and when they tried to make that Fae-ton Detector that only pointed at you.”
Danny laughed. “My nurse maid was not happy to find out about all the tests they ran to make sure I wasn’t a changeling as a baby. I think my dad might still be working on the Detector in his free time.”
“Never did figure out why it pointed to you.”
"Who knows. He probably messed something up in the spell work." Danny reached his hall and parted from them with a wave, turning toward his quarters.
-------
Phantom exhaled and shed his human glamour. The first breath was always the best, the moment he reconnected to nature and his senses buzzed. He fluttered his feathers to get them settled after a long day in the human realm.
"Lord Phantom, I've readied the wolves to ride."
"Thank you, Fright Knight. I'm afraid my parents placed a curfew so it might be an uneventful night to hunt."
"Then let's not tell the hounds and give them more freedom in their pursuit." There was a fond teasing to his voice. The wolves barely cared more than to run about. It was the two of them, and the few other Fae that joined in the Hunt that would become antsy if there were too many nights like this in a row.
A nod was all the signal needed for the Hunt to begin. The pack rode into the night, wolves howling, hounds barking. Various other Fae beasts that bowed to Phantom snarled. The few Fae that joined in sang and played haunting tunes from their mounts.
Phantom hated the hunt. But it was necessary. He couldn't resist the call even if he wanted to. He'd tried. By the Ancients, had he tried.
So he did what he could while his human side was dominant. Manipulated the cards with what little of his magic he had access to without giving himself away. Helped schedule gaps in the guard rotations to keep them from his path. Laid out false clues for his parents to focus on. If the nights the hunt led nearest to the dungeon’s back entrance, some criminals mysteriously were able to break out and were never heard from again, well, his parents were more interested in Fae, and with them placing the blame on the Fae. No one’d suspect the Prince to be releasing them using a key he’d copied.
The wolves caught a scent. Human from the perk in their ears. Foolish humans wondering in the night. They were still his foolish humans. He‘d hate to see their fates end to the teeth of his subjects, but even he couldn’t resist the call. Phantom’s blood sang. He rode with them. Led them. His wolf leaping in bounds through the brush.
Should the humans survive the encounter, he’d care for them in the Realms he decided. In his corner of the Fae Wilds they’d be safe. Cured from whatever wounds they might gain, given comforts the human realm kept from most. Phantom always tried to care for the humans once his bones settled. Such was the advantage of when the hunt anchored in his kingdom during the winter.
Following to see the humans, his blood silenced. Sam and Tucker. Why’re they out? "Heel." He commanded the Hunt. "These humans are mine."
The Hunt held back as Phantom materialized in front of his closest friends. His Fae nature masking any familiarity they might find in him.
"You were warned of the Hunt, were you not?…did you want to join my court so eagerly?"
"You're real." Was all Sam said as she took in the Sluagh Sidhe Lord before her. His hair that looked like fresh fallen snow, eyes filled with black of night save for the glowing ring in the color of spring buds. Skin a pale blue. She almost looked entranced by his features.
"I am." Phantom nodded. It took everything in him to not scream at them to run, get to safety. But he also longed for them to run so he could give chase, take them to his quarters and keep them. “A word of advice, Do Not Run.” It wasn’t often his natures clashed so drastically while rooted in the same words.
“Why?” Tucker held his staff tightly. A spell at the ready.
“Because then I will chase. Do not give me a reason to as I’m only considering it at the moment.” Maybe that will scare them enough to- Maybe if his flared his wings? But that was such a childish way to display threats-
“I want to visit your realm.” Sam blurted. “Our friend, his parents are obsessed with your kind. But they are confused. I want to bring them proof that you aren’t evil by returning with something. Prove you’re not the threat that they think. That we can work together.”
Phantom bit his lip, a fang almost piercing right through. His dumb, wonderful friends. He tugged on his bond with Fright Knight.
“My Lord.” The spector appeared from the shadows.
“Bring me two horses, preferably ones with enough flesh for their comfort. They’ll be coming to court as guests. Humans aren’t skilled enough to go by wolf.”
Sam and Tucker shuttered. They were in way over their heads now.

They Gave Today for Their Tomorrow
Pairings: Ethan Ramsey x Victoria Clarke
Word Count: 1.5k
Summary: Ethan goes to visit Danny and Bobby’s bodies in the morgue
Category: angst
He had promised her he would be there when she wakes up, that he would not let her take her last breath. That she would come back to him and be able to hug him without a plastic barrier.
Ethan slipped out the room for just a few minutes to check on the team. They were working as fast as they could. Developing cures took months. But tonight they had only hours.
The maitotoxin was spreading rapidly through Victoria’s body and with Rafael slipping into a coma within the last few hours, time was running out. The team were determined not to be beaten. They knew what is was, now it was all about putting their minds together and finding a cure.
As Ethan headed back to Victoria’s room he suddenly stopped by the elevator. He glanced at it, debating silently whether he should go see them. He had visited many dead bodies in the morgue before, but when it’s one of your own it hits differently.
Before he could change his mind, Ethan entered the elevator and pressed the button. The doors shut and the elevator headed down.
Ethan took deep breaths to try and calm himself down. The last few hours had been the worst moments of his life and the worst could still be around the corner. He tried not to think about it, but the longer the minutes crawled by, the more he couldn’t get it out of his head.
If Victoria didn’t survive this, Ethan wouldn’t know what he would do. He was sure as hell he couldn’t move on from her death. Not being able to see her everyday would be torture.
He knew that his life wasn’t worth living if she wasn’t in it.
Ethan didn’t even register the doors of the elevator opening until they nearly shut. Prying them open, he slowly walked down the hall. He regretted this path the minute he saw the nurses station.
He saw Sarah and Marlene sat by the desks, their tear streaked faces looking up at him. Ethan couldn’t bare to look them in the eye. He couldn’t save Danny.
And because of that, Ethan believed he could never earn their forgiveness.
He headed down the stairs to the morgue, each step feeling heavier than the last. The required protection was stationed outside the door. Ethan slowly put the clothes on, his hands trembling, his breathing becoming heavier.
Desperate to try and regulate his breathing he leaned against the wall and sunk to the ground. Tears were threatening to spill from his eyes and Ethan couldn’t care less about holding them back. With a strangled cry, the tears overflowed, rolling down his cheek one by one.
How did it come to this? How did any of this happen? One minute Victoria was in the diagnostics room helping solve the case, then she was trapped in her own bubble, fighting to stay alive. How did she become entangled in Travis’ revenge plan, his desire to hurt the Senator so powerful, he put other lives in danger?
Ethan wasn’t sure how long he had been sat on the floor until he saw a figure out the corner of his eye sit down next to him.
“They were not suffering Ethan, no matter what you might think.” Naveen said quietly, laying a hand on Ethan’s shoulder.
“They... they were innocent. They should never have gotten mixed up in all this.” Ethan sobbed.
“No one should have. This is all one tragic situation. But you need to stay strong. There’s someone upstairs who needs you. Who needs you to stay strong for her.” Naveen said softly.
Ethan looked at his mentor, his outline blurry due to his tears. No matter how much of an impression he puts on for the hospital, for two people, he breaks those walls completely.
And right now, this person was crumbling right before Naveen’s eyes.
“What if she doesn’t make it Naveen? What am I going to do without her?” Ethan said.
“She has seen and experienced a lot since she came to Boston. And I think this is just another obstacle in her way. But obstacles are there to be defeated and Victoria has seen off many obstacles before that another one won’t hurt her.”
“But this is different. This obstacle is life or death. And this might be too big a hurdle to climb.” Ethan said wiping the tears from his face.
“No matter how big the hurdle is to climb, there is always a way over it. If you have hope, then cling onto it, as if it’s all you have left.” Naveen said.
The words sank into Ethan. Victoria had dealt with many issues since arriving in Boston a year ago and she faced them all with her head held high. She was a fighter and if she was allowed to give up now, she would never forgive herself.
Ethan wiped his eyes and put on the protective helmet. He slowly opened the door to the morgue.
They looked so peaceful, Ethan thought as he gazed at the two bodies in front of him. As if they were about to wake up from a deep sleep.
But he knew they were asleep for eternity now. No one could try and hurt them anymore.
“I’ve never properly said thank you for what you did.” Ethan said quietly. He knew they couldn’t hear him. Or maybe they could. Maybe their ghost was in the room right now and Ethan was oblivious to it.
“You should never have gotten caught up in all of this. You and Victoria and Rafael are innocent victims to a terrible crime.” Ethan could feel his eyes filling up with tears. “You were brave, you looked Travis in the eye and took him on.” He looked at Bobby. “You wouldn’t let him win and he didn’t.”
He then looked at Danny. He had always thought of Danny as a brilliant nurse who was kind to his patients and the newest recruits to Edenbrook. “You were there for Victoria when others weren’t. You were kind to her when the rumours got out of control. For that I’ll always be grateful. You were there for her when I... when I couldn’t be.” Ethan didn’t even try to hold back tears. He took a deep breath and continued. “You made patients feel safe and calm, when things were complicated. They always said to me how nice you were. I’ve never really understood it until now. Now that you’re... not here to tell me yourself.”
The silence echoed throughout the room and there was a pounding ringing sound in Ethan’s ear. He could feel his tiredness catching up with him, it became difficult to stand on his own two feet.
He had said what he wanted to say. He wanted them to know how grateful he was for their sacrifice. That them putting themselves in the way of danger was the bravest thing they had ever done. And there was an entire group of staff and other friends and family who were eternally grateful.
Slowly, Ethan opened the door and took off the protective clothing. He made his way back to Victoria’s room, ready to hold her hand throughout the rest of the night and ensure she woke up in the morning.
He sat down in the chair next to her bed and smiled at her sleeping form. She was still breathing. She was still here.
— — — — —
He held it in his hands. The cure to save Victoria. He tried to steady his hand as much as he could.
“Ready?” Baz asked.
“It’s now or never. Let’s do this.” Victoria said, a glimmer of hope in her eyes.
Smoothly, Ethan dispensed the serum into her vein. A sense of relief washed over him once he removed the needle.
“And now we wait. And hope.” June said.
The next few hours crawled by slowly. It was as if time was playing a game with him, making this ordeal drag out far longer than it should be.
For what felt like the 50th time that day, a set of results printed out. Ethan practically ripped it from the machine as he scanned the results. He read it through a couple times, making sure his eyes weren’t deceiving him.
She was in the clear. There was no trace of the toxin left in her system. Not wanting to keep the results to himself for long, Ethan sprinted out the lab and down the hall, he passed June and Baz and a simple nod of his head told them the answers they wanted. He couldn’t stick around for the reaction. He had to get to Victoria.
He reached the outside of her room and strode through the decontamination tent with newfound confidence. “Get up.” He grinned.
“You mean?” Her eyes widened with hope.
“It worked! There’s no trace of the toxin left in your bloodstream. Even if there are still traces in the room we now know that we can- oh!” Ethan didn’t get to finish his sentence as Victoria ran straight into his arms.
“What you’re saying is I’m now finally free to do this?” She grinned looking up at him.
“Yes.” He grinned back tightening his arms around her.
He could feel fresh tears of relief rolling down his face as he hugged her. He looked up momentarily, he wasn’t the most religious person but he knew they were watching with relief as well. He simply mouthed two words.
Thank you.

All aboard the angst train!
This idea came to me at 12am and I had to write it.

LAWRENCE DOBKIN
September 16, 1919
Lawrence ‘Larry’ Dobkin was born in New York City and went on to become a successful character actor and director with a career spanning seven decades.
Dobkin was a popular performer during the Golden Age of Radio. His voice was used to narrate the classic western “Broken Arrow” (1950). He was one of five actors who played detective Ellery Queen in “The Adventures of Ellery Queen.” In “The New Adventures of Nero Wolfe” (1950–51), Dobkin played detective Archie Goodwin opposite Sydney Greenstreet.
"The few of us who are left..." Dobkin later said of his radio days, "...keep telling each other that we never had it so good."
He started screen acting in 1946 with Best Picture winner The Best Years of Our Lives.
From 1960 to 1985, Dobkin was a busy TV director. He directed episodes of Desilu series’ (or series’ filmed at Desilu) such as “Star Trek,” “The Real McCoys,” “My Living Doll,” and “The Andy Griffith Show.”
His film performances include Never Fear (1949), Sweet Smell of Success (1957) and North by Northwest (1959).
Dobkin was recognizable for his bald head, so he wore hats in two of his three appearances on “I Love Lucy.” Oddly, he was not cast in “Ricky Thinks He's Getting Bald” (ILL S1;E34)!
MAX: “Just caught this dame with her hand in the till!”
Dobkin first played Max, the diner counter man in “Ricky and Fred Are TV Fans” (ILL S2;E30) in 1953. When Lucy needs change for the payphone, she helps herself to the cash register while Max and the policeman are glued to the boxing match on the diner’s TV. Busted!
In “Equal Rights” (ILL S3;E4) Dobkin played Xavier, who is either the maitre’ d or headwaiter of the unnamed restaurant where the Ricardos and Mertzes dine. It is unclear if Xavier is his real name, or if Desi is just ad-libbing based on the first name of his former employer Xavier Cugat. Ricky bribes (tips?) Xavier to make Lucy and Ethel wash dishes to pay for their meals, a common TV and movie trope of the time.
XAVIER: “What are you trying to do? Skip out without paying?”
Although this is an Italian Restaurant, Dobkin does not attempt an Italian accent. The part might have been better cast with Louis Nicoletti, one of the show’s regular Italian-American performers, who plays a policeman in the episodes final scene.
Also in 1953, Dobkin did an episode of “Our Miss Brooks” starring Gale Gordon. The series was filmed by Desilu Studios.
COUNTERFEITER: “As you Americans say: No Overhead!”
His third and final appearance on “I Love Lucy” was as a counterfeiter in “Paris at Last” (ILL S5;E18), where he does show of an accent. His shady transaction outside the American Express office gets Lucy into a pile of merde!
In early 1957, he guest starred on Desilu’s “Whirlybirds” and “The Danny Thomas Show” featuring Mary Wickes.
Although he was never seen, he was part of television history from 1960 to 1963. Preceding the closing credits of each episode of the landmark ABC television network series “Naked City”, he could heard saying "There are eight million stories in the naked city, and this has been one of them."
In April 1959, he did a day on Desilu’s “The Ann Sothern Show.” In November, Lucille Ball played Lucy Ricardo on the series’ season two premiere.
In 1959 and 1960, Dobkin did two episodes of the anthology series “The Westinghoue-Desilu Playhouse” introduced by Desi Arnaz, who also acted as Executive Producer.
A series that grew out of “Westinghouse-Desilu Playhouse” was “The Untouchables.” Wearing a toupee, Dobkin played Dutch Schultz on three episodes of the series in 1959/60.
Dobkin was nominated for an 1968 Emmy for playing Dr. Gettlinger in "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Goodnight,” an episode of “CBS Playhouse”.
A 1998 live recreation of “My Favorite Husband”, billed as "Lucy's First Sitcom: A 50th Anniversary Reunion," featured Dobkin and “I Love Lucy” veterans Doris Singleton, Shirley Mitchell, Janet Waldo, Peggy Rea, and Roz and Marilyn Borden. Suzanne LaRusch play Liz Cooper and Dwayne Hickman (TV's Dobie Gillis) played her favorite husband George.
He recorded excerpts from "Laughs, Luck.. and Lucy" by Jess Oppenheimer for the “I Love Lucy" DVD release.
He had one daughter, Debra Dobkin, by his first wife, Frances Hope Walker.
In 1962, he married actress Joanna Barnes (above); they had no children. Dobkin married actress Anne Collings in 1970 and had two children.
On October 28, 2002, Dobkin died of heart failure at his home in Los Angeles. He was 83 years old.

Get those tin foil hats ready to go!
The 10 greatest conspiracy theories in rock
By Emma Johnston
In a world where fake news runs rampant, rock'n'roll is not immune to the lure of the conspiracy theory. These are 10 of the most ludicrous
Conspiracy theories, myths and legends have existed in rock’n’roll for as long as the music has existed, stretching all the way back to bluesman Robert Johnson selling his soul to the devil at the crossroads in exchange for superhuman guitar skills, fame and fortune.
There are those who believe Elvis Presley and Jim Morrison live on, others who think the Illuminati control the world through symbolism in popular culture, and plenty of evangelical types with their own agendas trawling rock and metal songs for secret messages luring the innocent to the dark side.
Let us take a look, then, at rock’n’roll conspiracy theories ranging from the intriguing to the ludicrous, as we try to separate the truth from the codswallop.
Lemmy was in league with the Illuminati
Few men have ever been earthier than Lemmy, but one conspiracy theorist claims that the Motorhead legend didn’t really die in December 2015, instead “ascending into the heavenly realm” after making a “blood sacrifice pact” with the Illuminati.
A “watcher” of the mythical secret society some believe are running the world – despite evidence that is at best flimsy, at worst straight from The Da Vinci Code author Dan Brown’s discarded notebooks – told the Daily Star: “Lemmy signed up for the ultimate pact – he signed his soul to the devil in order to achieve fame and fortune.”
While we can only imagine what the great man would have to say on the matter, there’s one word, in husky, JD-soaked tones, that we can just about make out coming across from the other side: “Bollocks.”
Paul McCartney died in 1966
As you might expect from the most famous band that has ever existed, there are enough crackpot theories about The Beatles to fill the Albert Hall. From John Lennon’s murder being ordered by the US government, who, led by Richard Nixon, suspected him of communism (the FBI actually did have a file on Lennon, but the story is spiced up by the man behind murderlennontruth.com, who apparently believes author Steven King was involved due to, uh, looking a bit like Mark Chapman) to Canadian prog outfit Klaatu being the Fab Four in disguise, there are plenty of tall tales more colourful than a Ringo B-side.
The most enduring, though, is the notion dreamt up by some US radio DJs that Paul McCartney died in a car crash in 1966 and was replaced by a lookalike. They came to this conclusion having studied the cover of Abbey Road – McCartney’s bare feet on the zebra crossing apparently symbolising death, while others found “evidence” in the album’s opaque lyrics. There were a lot of drugs in the 60s.
Gene Simmons has a cow’s tongue
It’s easy to see why all kinds of far-fetched stories sprung up when Kiss first took off in the 1970s. The fake-blood-spitting, the fire, the demon-superhero personas – middle America clutched its pearls and word spread that these otherworldly weirdos’ moniker stood for Knights In Satan’s Service. Spoiler alert: it doesn’t.
It was Gene Simmons’ preposterous mouth that got the nation’s less voluminous tongues wagging though. So long and pointy is his appendage, and so often waggled at his audiences (whether they asked for it or not), that eventually the rumour spread around the world’s playgrounds was that he’d had a cow’s tongue grafted onto his own. The bovine baloney is, of course, bullshit, but Simmons has admitted it's one of his favourite Kiss urban myths.
Supertramp predicted 9/11
The Logical Song may be Supertramp’s calling card, but one man in the US stretches common sense to the limit having come to the conclusion that the artwork for their 1979 album Breakfast In America gave prior warning of the terrorist attacks on New York on September 11, 2001.
Look at the album cover – painted from the perspective of a window on a flight into the city – in a mirror, and the ‘u’ and ‘p’ band’s name appears to become a 911 floating above the twin towers, while a logo on the back features a plane flying towards the World Trade Center.
So far, so coincidental, but when our intrepid investigator falls down a rabbit hole of Masonic interference, strained Old Testament connections (“The Great Whore of Babylon – Super Tramp”), and the title Breakfast In America reflecting the fact that the planes crashed early in the morning, things get really tenuous.
It’s fair to say it’s unlikely a British prog-pop band had prior knowledge of the terrorist attacks 22 years before they happened. But maybe Al Qaida were really big fans.
Stevie Wonder can see
Stevie Wonder is a genius. That fact is not up for dispute. The soul/jazz/funk/rock/pop legend was born six weeks prematurely in 1950, and the oxygen used in the hospital incubator to stabilise him caused him to go blind shortly afterwards. But his love of front-row seats at basketball games, the evocative imagery in his songs, and the fact that he once effortlessly caught a falling mic stand knocked over by Paul McCartney (who, let us reiterate, did not die in 1966) has caused basement Jessica Fletchers to muse that he’s faking his blindness as part of the act.
Wonder himself, a known prankster, has great fun with his status as one of the world’s most famous vision-impaired musicians. In 1973, he told Rolling Stone: “I’ve flown a plane before. A Cessna or something, from Chicago to New York. Scared the hell out of everybody.”
Dave Grohl invented Andrew W.K.
When Andrew W.K. first broke through in the early 2000s, dressed in white and covered in blood, his mission was serious in its simplicity: the party is everything. He took his message of having a good time, all the time, to levels of political fervour. But rumours of his authenticity have been doing the rounds from the start.
Reviewing WK’s first UK show at The Garage in London, The Guardian’s Alexis Petridis wrote: “One music-biz conspiracy theory currently circulating suggests that Andrew W.K. is an elaborate hoax devised by former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl.”
As time went on, the theory gained traction – Grohl was believed to be the mysterious Steev Mike credited on the debut album I Get Wet. And as W.K.’s style changed over subsequent records, and his own admission that there were legal arguments over who owns his name, whispers began that he wasn’t even a real person – he was a character, played by several different actors, an attempt to create the ultimate Frankenstein’s frontman.
"I'm not the same guy that you may have seen from the I Get Wet album," W.K. said in 2008. “I don't just mean that in a philosophical or conceptual way, it's not the same person at all. Do I look the same as that person?" The jury is out, but if this is a great white elephant concocted just for the sheer hell of it, we kind of want this one to be true.
Jimi Hendrix was murdered by his manager
An early victim of the 27 club, the death of Jimi Hendrix was depressingly cliched for a man so wildly creative: a bellyful of barbiturates led to him asphyxiating on his own vomit, according to the post-mortem. But in the years following the grim discovery at the Samarkand Hotel in London on 19 September 1970, a different theory was offered by the guitarist’s former roadie, James “Tappy” Wright.
In his book Rock Roadie, Wright claims Hendrix was murdered by his manager, Michael Jeffery, who he says force-fed his charge red wine and pills. The motive? He feared he was about to be fired and was keen to cash in on the star’s life insurance. One thing we do know for certain is Jeffery won’t be able to give his version of events, as he was killed in a plane crash over France in 1973.
The 50th anniversary of Hendrix's tragic passing was "celebrated" with the release of Hendrix and the Spook, a documentary that "explored" his death further and was described by The Guardian as "a cheaply made mix of interviews and dumbshow dramatic recreations by actors scuttling about flimsy sets in gloomy lighting." Sounds good.
Courtney killed Kurt
Courtney Love is no stranger to demonisation from Nirvana fans. When Hole’s second album, the searing, catchy, feminist, witty, aggressive, vulnerable and unflinchingly honest Live Through This was released, days after Kurt Cobain’s death, rumours almost immediately started up that Love’s late husband wrote the songs. That was insulting and sexist enough, but nowhere near as damaging as the conspiracy theory that Love hired a hitman to kill Cobain amid rumours they were about to divorce.
After Cobain’s first attempt to take his own life in Rome, the Nirvana frontman was eventually convinced to go to rehab following an intervention by his wife and friends. He ran away from the facility, and the private investigator hired by Love to find him, Tom Grant, eventually became the source of the idea that Love and the couple’s live-in nanny Michael Dewitt were responsible for Cobain’s death shortly afterwards.
His claims, made in the Soaked In Bleach documentary, include the notion that Cobain had too much heroin in his system to pull the trigger of the shotgun, and that he believed the suicide note was forged.
People close to Cobain (and the Seattle Police Department) have refuted the theory, including Nirvana manager Danny Goldberg: “It’s ridiculous. He killed himself. I saw him the week beforehand, he was depressed. He tried to kill himself six weeks earlier, he’d talked and written about suicide a lot, he was on drugs, he got a gun. Why do people speculate about it? The tragedy of the loss is so great people look for other explanations. I don’t think there’s any truth at all to it."
The CIA wrote The Scorpions’ biggest hit
Previously synonymous with leather, hard rock anthems and some very questionable album artwork, West Germany’s Scorpions scored big with Wind Of Change, a power ballad heralding the oncoming fall of the USSR, the end of the Cold War, and a new sense of hope in the Eastern Bloc.
In a podcast named after the 1990 song, though, Orwell Prize-winning US journalist Patrick Radden Keefe follows rumours from within the intelligence community that the song was actually written by the CIA, as propaganda to hasten the fall of the ailing Soviet Union via popular culture.
“Soviet officials had long been nervous over the free expression that rock stood for, and how it might affect the Soviet youth,” Keefe is quoted as saying. “The CIA saw rock music as a cultural weapon in the cold war. Wind of Change was released a year after the fall of the Berlin Wall, and became this anthem for the end of communism and reunification of Germany. It had this soft-power message that the intelligence service wanted to promote.”
It's a convincing theory, but one that is disputed by Scorpions frontman Klaus Meine: “I thought it was very amusing and I just cracked up laughing. It’s a very entertaining and really crazy story but like I said, it’s not true at all. Like you American guys would say, it’s fake news."
There are satanic messages in Stairway To Heaven
The great comedian Bill Hicks had something to say about people searching for evidence of devilry in rock’n’roll: “Remember this shit, if you play certain rock albums backwards there'd be satanic messages? Let me tell you something, if you're sitting round your house playing your albums backwards, you are Satan. You needn't look any further. And don't go ruining my stereo to prove a point either.”
The memo didn’t get through to televangelist and stylus ruiner Paul Crouch, who in 1982 attempted to scare the Christian right into believing Led Zeppelin’s Stairway To Heaven was stuffed with demonic meaning, and that played backwards it revealed the following message: “Here’s to my sweet Satan/The one whose little path would make me sad, whose power is Satan/He will give those with him 666/There was a little toolshed where he made us suffer, sad Satan.”
Guitarist Jimmy Page, of course, is no stranger to the esoteric, making no secret of his interest in occultist Aleister Crowley and the attendant magick, and there were even rumours the band made a Faustian pact to achieve fame and fortune. But hiding messa

Believe It or Not. Part 14/?
Summary: With tensions increasing between Derek and the rest of the pack, they try to understand why he's turning other teenagers. In the midst of everything, expectations of one's self get in the way. (Based off 2x02 “Shape Shifted”) “I’m serious. It's not like the last full moon. I don't feel the same.” Scott said with reassurance while walking down the halls between his sister and best friend. “Oh, does that include the urge to maim and kill people, like me?” Stiles quipped sarcastically. At his comment y/n leaned behind Scott and punched Stiles in the arm playfully. “Hey!” He shouted grabbing his arm. Y/n just laughed. “I swear I don't have the urge to maim and kill you.” Scott laughed along with y/n as they continued walking. “You say that now, but then the full moon goes up and out come the fangs and the claws and there's a lot of howling and screaming and running everywhere, okay? And it's very stressful on me so yes, I’m still locking you up.” Stiles finished without taking a second to breathe. “Okay, fine,” the beta gave in, “but I do think I have more control now. Especially with how good things are with Allison.” Y/n rolled her eyes, “Oh my god Scott! Yes, we’re aware of how good things are with Allison. You make us aware every 2 seconds.” Her words barely phased the boy, “they're really good.” He whispered with a big goofy smile on his face. “Please just shut the hell up before I have the urge to maim and kill myself.” Stiles chimed in, making Scott look butt-hurt and y/n to continue giggling. They parted ways as the boys entered the boys’ locker and y/n the girls. - Y/n rather quickly dressed in her cheerleading uniform and made her way out to the field. She found a nice, dry spot on the grass to sit down and begin their routine of stretches. Silently, she watched the lacrosse team run laps for warm-up. A jersey she’d never seen before, number 14, caught her eye. He must be a new player. Time seemed to pass by as she was down to the last 15 minutes of practice. She felt a little bit a sweat lightly run down as she ran through the new routine for what felt like the 50th time. She decided to take a break, walking to the bleachers to grab her water bottle. As she was taking a cool drink, she turned towards the lacrosse field to see her brother practically running over every single person trying to score a goal. The players were all in one straight line practicing running towards the goal, Scott guarding the goal which was odd since that's not his position. She watched a few more guys try to run through and score, and each time Scott ran away from the goal and straight at them. Ramming into them and making each of them flip and land on their backs. “McCall! The positions goal keeper. Not goal abandoner.” Coach yelled at her brother, before blowing his whistle. Y/n noticed Stiles standing outside the line of players intently watching Scott plow through everyone. Y/n found herself walking across the field until she reached Stiles. “Hey.” She said rather firmly, grabbing his attention as he turned to look at her. “You wanna tell me why Scott’s beating down half the team?” She stood next to Stiles, watching as Scott, again, destroyed a poor boy. “Look it's fine,” he said holding his hand up to her signaling for her to calm down, which actually just annoyed her more causing her to cross her arms, “When we were in the locker room Scott felt the presence, or smelt, or something but he thinks there’s another werewolf on the team.” “So… He's attacking everyone on the team because he knows the werewolf will use their abilities to land and not let themselves get hurt?” She clarified, putting the pieces together. “Yeah exactly, although no luck so far.” He said as Scott repeated his actions, Stiles and y/n flinching as the player obviously wasn’t a werewolf. Without them noticing coach had marched over to them, “Stilinski! What the hell is wrong with your friend?” “Uh, he's failing two classes. He's a little socially awkward and if you look close enough, his jawline is slightly uneven.” Y/n didn't even try to suppress the snort that left her as she immediately put her hand over her mouth to control her laughter at the sarcastic boy’s response. Coach looked at her as she laughed, finally noticing she was there. “You, who are you?” He asked pointing at her. “Y/n McCall.” She furrowed her eyebrows. “Oh great,” coach rolled his eyes, “there's more of you.” After that he blew his whistle again, and walked away. “And that's my cue to leave-” y/n started to walk away but caught herself turning on her heal. They both watched as Scott ran at the last player in the line, number 14. But this time, as the boy flipped in the air, he landed on his feet in front of Scott. Y/n’s jaw dropped in shock. “I think we found him.” Stiles whispered from next to her. Not taking her gaze off the scene in front of her, she just nodded her head in response. - Just ten minutes after the figured out that the boy who's the beta’s name is Isaac, the police showed up and arrested him. Scott, Stiles, and y/n stood together watching him be taken away. “So they think he killed his own dad?” Y/n asked while watching them drag the boy away, he turned around and made direct eye contact with her as if he had heard her. She turned away immediately, feeling a little bit of fear take over her. “They can lock him in a holding cell for 24 hours.” Stiles said. “Like, overnight?” Scott replied. Knowing exactly why Scott was asking he looked at him with an expression y/n had never seen before, “During the full moon.” Stiles confirmed. “Why would Derek choose Isaac?” Scott asked out loud, not really expecting an answer. Before anyone could say anything else, they bell rang signaling they had ten minutes to change and get back to class. “We gotta go.” Y/n reminded, picking up her bag. - They were sitting in their biology class at their lab table that seats three. Y/n in the middle with Scott or Stiles on either side of her. “Doesn't being a teenager mean your dad can't hold him?” Scott leaned forward to look at Stiles. “Not unless they have solid evidence, or a witness” y/n answered before Stiles could. “Wait,” Stiles said turning around to the table behind him, “Danny, where’s Jackson?” Now all three of them had turned around and were staring at the poor boy. “Principals office.” “Why?” Y/n questioned. “He lives across the street from Isaac.” They turned back around, all glancing at each other. “We have to get to the principal’s office.” Y/n smirked. “How?” Scott asked. Stiles and y/n locked eyes, smiling, already knowing what the other was thinking. All of the sudden, three pieces of balled up paper flew across the room, all hitting Mr. Harris. He turned around, annoyed. “Alright, who in the hell did that?” The three determined teenagers all pointed at each other, solidifying their plan. - The plan to get to the principal’s office turned out to be a bust, except for finding out that Allison’s grandpa, Gerard, is the school’s new principal. He asked that only one of them stay behind to accept the punishment. It couldn't be Scott, because he had to talk to Derek. So Stiles finally gave in, offering to stay behind. Scott and y/n pushed open the door exiting the office, and Scott took off sprinting towards the exit. “Scott wait!” Y/n called after him, breaking out into a run as well. He ran straight through the two blue doors, only to see Isaac in the back of a police car being driven to the station. He was too late. Finally, y/n managed to catch up. Doubling over and breathing heavily. Once she caught her breath she stood up, still wincing. “You know,” she took another deep breath, “I don't remember you ever being that fast.” “We were too late.” He ignored her sarcastic statement, watching the police car until it was officially out of sight. As if on cue, Derek’s car speedily pulled up to the curb. “Get in.” He said directly to Scott. “Are you serious?” Y/n yelled back before Scott could. “You did that! That's your fault!” Scott yelled angrily, walking down the steps until he was at the window of Derek’s car. Y/n wouldn't say it out loud, but she felt a little hurt, and disappointed in Derek. He was the first person to tell her the truth, and she thought she had a friend or at least an ally in him. And now he was going around biting teenagers? Taking their life away from them? He didn't have the right to do that. She slowly walked down the steps, following Scott. “I know that. Now get in the car and help me.” Derek demanded. “No, I've got a better idea. I’m gonna call a lawyer. Because a lawyer might actually have a chance at getting him out before the moon goes up.” Y/n was proud of her brother for taking charge, almost like an alpha would. At least a good alpha. But his last sentence kind of caught her off guard. “Scott, we can't afford a lawyer.” She whispered to her brother, but both of them ignored her. “Not when they do a search of the house.” Derek said smugly, “Whatever Jackson said to the cops, what's in the house, it's worse. It's way worse.” Y/n heard Scott sigh. Defeated, he opened the door to the car. “I’m coming too.” Y/n piped up, hopping in the back and buckling her seatbelt all in one quick motion. Both Scott and Derek turned around to look at her. “No.” They shouted simultaneously. Y/n raised her eyebrows at them, it was cute that they were trying. “Okay,” she nodded, “which one of you is going to drag me out of the car then?” She crossed her arms, staring at them with a smile. Derek and Scott turned to look at each other. Derek annoyed, but Scott’s expression had turned into a smile. “She's coming.” Scott stated, Derek rolling his eyes before pressing on the accelerator and taking off towards Isaac’s house. - Derek pulled up to the house, the brakes screeching as he came to a sudden stop. “Damn, where’d you get your license? Doggy-Day care?” Y/n said while rubbing her neck. “You're fine.” Derek got out of the car, not even glancing at her. “I think I got whiplash.” She whispered to herself before finally exiting the vehicle. She followed Derek and Scott into the Eerily quiet house. “If Isaac didn't kill his father, who did?” Scott asked breaking the silence. “I don't know yet.” Derek replied walking further into the dark house. “How do you know he's not lying?” Asked y/n, glancing around the house and taking in all her surroundings. “Because I trust my senses,” Derek turned around and snapped at her, “and it's a combination of them. Not just your sense of smell.” He aimed the last statement at Scott. Scott’s cheeks turned red with embarrassment. “You saw the lacrosse thing today? Did it look that bad?” Derek smirked, “yeah.” Derek grabbed Scott’s arm and lead him to a door that opened up to a staircase, leading to the basement of the house. Y/n watched from behind them, not really thrilled about what she assumed was to come next. All three of them stood there, looking down on what faded into complete darkness. You couldn't even see the whole staircase. “You want to learn? Let's start now.” Derek’s voice echoed down the stairs. “What's down there?” Scott asked, fear evident in his shaky voice. “Motive.” “And what am I looking for?” “Follow your senses.” Was the last thing Derek said before Scott started taking hesitant steps through the doorway and into the basement. “What happened down here?” Y/n could barely hear Scott’s voice. No more creaking from the stairs could be heard, signaling that Scott was finally and completely inside the room downstairs. Y/n crossed her arms over her chest for some sort of comfort. “Stay here, I’m going to go guide him.” Derek whispered to y/n. “Wha- really? No I don't want to stay up here by myself.” Y/n complained moving closer to Derek. “You being down there will just distract him, you'll be fine.” Before she could say anything else he was already hopping down the stairs leaving her behind. She sighed rolling her eyes and moving away from the open door. She walked around the house, looking at photos on the wall in the kitchen, trying to keep her mind occupied. Y/n took a few more steps before she heard something break beneath her foot. She bent down to pick up whatever it was, it looked like it was part of a glass that had broke. Examining it, she shifted her gaze to the wall in front of her. It had a dent in it, she stood up to get a closer look at that too. Once y/n could see clearly, she saw a piece of glass sticking out of the wall as well. The glass had been thrown across the room. The thought sent a shiver down her spine, she knew at that moment a lot of bad things happened in here. - Stiles was let out late again from detention purely just for Mr. Harris’ enjoyment. It was now dark out. As he frantically made his way to the jeep he quickly got out his phone to call Allison. “Hey, sorry, Harris literally just let me out of detention. Literally. And he had my phone the whole fricken time.” The boy babbled. “Well, we need to do something right now. They were asking me all these questions about Lydia and how she was bitten by Peter, and then they sent this guy out.” “Wait, what guy?” Stiles asked as he opened the door of his jeep and put the keys in the ignition. “He was dressed as a sheriff’s deputy.” She calmly replied. Stiles stop moving altogether, rolling his eyes as he put it all together, “They’re sending him into the station for Isaac.” “I’m on it.” Allison hung up quickly, a devised plan already in place. - She followed the guy sent out to kill Isaac. knowing exactly what streets the car was going to drive down, the girl positioned herself out of sight behind a corner. She patiently waited until she could see the dim glow of headlights shine on the brick wall in front of her. She placed the arrow in the correct place on the bow, readying herself. Allison watched as the car drove by and waiting until it was just a little bit in front of her, aiming her arrow towards the back tire and releasing. It wa a direct hit. She confidently placed another arrow in place. Once the man stepped out of the car, she shot another one right into his calf. She smirked to herself and called Stiles back. “Hey, did you slow him down.” His voice echoed through the phone. “You could say that.” “All right, I’m headed to the station right now. Scott’s at Isaac’s.” She furrowed her brows, “does he have as plan?” She asked knowing tonight was the full moon and Scott may still need some help controlling himself. “Yeah,” Stiles’ voice interrupted her thoughts, “but not a very good one. And unfortunately we don't really have time for anything better. I’m on my way there now to pick up Derek but I won't be able to stay.” “I’ll go there now.” Allison said, hanging up on Stiles’ again. - Y/n continuously paced around the cold, dark house. Her teeth slightly chattering as she shivered, although she wasn’t cold. Just scared. Scott and Derek had been in the basement for awhile, and she still remained upstairs. Y/n walked back into the kitchen to look at the hole in the wall she had found earlier. As she was looking at it, a sudden burst of light illuminated the wall make her turn on her heel quickly. It was headlights from as car that were blinding her. She walked closer to the kitchen window to try and determine who had just pulled up. Only to recognize the familiar blue jeep. She ran outside to see what he was doing here. Stiles looked up to see the McCall girl standing in front of his car. The light from the jeep making her look even more beautiful. However, he was overcome with confusion to why she was here. He rolled down the window as she made her way over to him, grasping the the door with her hands and staring at him. “What are you doing here.” They both questioned simultaneously. Stiles was the one to continue. “Y/n why in hell would Scott let you come here?” She tilted her head in confusion at the outburst, “what do you mean?” “You remember what day it is right? The full moon. What happens when Scott loses control and attacks you? What happens when Derek decides to widen his pack even more and he bites you? You can’t just be running around and going wherever you want.” She was shocked to say the least, not really understanding where this was coming from. “And you can?” She sasses back, catching him off guard. “Stiles you're human too. Every risk that I’m taking right now you've taken everyday for the last couple of months. So don’t you dare sit here and tell me that I should just stay home while my brother and my- and you are out here every night risking your lives for our friends who happen to be my friends too.” When she finally stopped, face red and breathing heavy, he stayed completely silent. Honestly, he was speechless. He knew everything she just said was right, and that he had no right to make her feel stupid. They just stayed there, locked in each other’s eye contact until the sound of the passenger door opening startled them both. “Let’s get going, we don’t have much time.” Derek said to Stiles as he buckled himself in. Stiles wanted to apologize, but it would have to wait. Y/n backed away from the car and he drove off, leaving her standing in the street. No more than 15 seconds later another car pulled into the driveway that she recognized as Allison’s. Feeling more calm, she waited for Allison to get out of the car. Once she stepped out, she didn't waste anytime. “Where’s Scott?” She asked with worried eyes. “In the basement,” y/n answered, “here I'll take you to him.” She started walking back inside the house, Allison right behind her. Once the girls reached the bottom of the stairs they were met with Scott doubled over, heavily breathing. Allison began walking towards him, y/n remained in place knowing that he needed Allison right now. The brunette glanced to the duffle bag filled with chains on the ground, knowing what was about to take place. “Scott, are you sure we have to do this?” She whispered sweetly to the boy. “Yes.” He huffed back. “Where?” She placed her hand on his arm. Both Allison and y/n watched as he glanced back to a large freezer behind him. Y/n watched sadly as Scott placed himself inside, Allison shutting the lid and locking it. Not before kissing him on the forehead. Y/n couldn't watch as Allison officially locked it. “Scott-” y/n started to speak to her brother. “Just go!” He yelled, almost sounding like a growl. Y/n and Allison hurriedly made their way up the stairs, neither one of them wanting to be down there any longer. When they reached the top y/n waited for Allison to get through the door before shutting it completely. They both stood there for what felt like hours. Silence drowning them both. “Talk about something,” y/n said grabbing Allison’s attention. She looked up to see y/n staring back at her, “please, anything so I don’t have to think about what my brother’s going through right now.” Allison smiled, “Okay, sure,” she swallowed, “well, what’s going on with you and Stiles?” She teased slightly. “Oh god, anything other than that.” Y/n sighed throwing her head back against the wall she was leaning against. Allison laughed at her reaction, “no, come on, before everything went to hell the night of the dance you two totally could not stop staring into each other’s eyes while dancing.” Y/n squeezed her eyes shut, sinking down to the floor in embarrassment as Allison continued to laugh. She covered her eyes with her hands so she couldn't see Allison as she let the words fall from her mouth, “We kissed.” Allison’s jaw dropped, “you what?” Well have you guys talked about it at all?” “No!” Y/n threw her hands up in the air in frustration, “I’m afraid to. Because just ten minutes ago he was a complete asshole, also he’s probably still in love with Lydia.” Allison’s shocked facial expression faded into an empathetic smile. “You’ll never know anything until you ask him.” Y/n knew she was right, so she didn't say anything back. The room becoming silent until Allison spoke again. “Okay but I have to ask, was he good?” Y/n couldn't help but completely lose control and burst out laughing at the question, Allison following suit and doing the same. Everything was fine, and they were having a good time until Allison lifted her finger to her mouth and shushed her. Y/n stood up from her place on the ground, fear consuming her again. “Do you hear that?” Allison whispered. Y/n just shook her head. She followed Allison into the kitchen, watching her grab two knives, handing one to her. Y/n gripped the knife with both hands, trying to steady her shaking hands. Frozen still, she watched Allison continue to walk forwards. Then she heard it, a hissing noise. Glancing up towards the ceiling, she saw- whatever it was- glancing down at her. “Allison” she whispered with terror lacing her voice. Allison turned around, but before she could do anything the animal used its long tail to rip the knife from y/n’s grasp. Continuing to wrap around her ankle and throw her on the ground, knocking the air out of her. “Come on!” Allison shouted at the creature, but it never approached her. It ran away and broke through the front windows of the house. Allison ran towards her friend on the ground, trying to help her sit up. “Y/n are you okay?” The girl struggled to get her breath back, and once she did she looked at Allison with wide eyes. “What the hell was that?” (Leave feedback/ questions in my ask hoes)

Donald Trump Really Loves the Met Gala
You already know that Donald Trump loves Twitter, self-tanner, big trucks, golf, walls, and Russia, but did you also know the 45th president is also a big fan of the Met Gala? Huge. Three wives ago, he started attending the big fashion event in NYC and he’s made many appearances in between. If nothing else, click through to see the evolution of his unique hairstyle through the years.
Donald Trump loves the Met Gala
It’s that time of year again — the Met Gala is upon us. As we ready for the stars to climb the ruby red staircase without tripping tonight, we pay homage to a man who truly loves the fashion event despite not being known for his style: the president of our great nation, Donald Trump. The lover of “MAGA” truck hats has attended the event more than 10 times with several different dates, including wives, girlfriends, and his eldest daughter, Ivanka. While he won’t be here this year (he hasn’t returned to his blue state since the inauguration), we look back at his many (Met) Baller pics… (Image: Getty/Illustration: Danny Miller)

Donald and Ivana Trump at the Met Gala in 1985
As we looked at in How Donald Trump Made Himself Into a Celebrity, the couple’s image was carefully crafted — the new money darlings were trying to get old money respect in the Big Apple — and part of that included attending the right events. The fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute attracted wealthy New Yorkers (long before it was a must for Hollywooders), so they jumped aboard in the mid-’80s as they made their ascent. The Czech-born blonde was known for her flashy frocks and big hair — perfect for an event described as fashion’s “prom” — and she brought both to the party in December 1985 while Donald looked debonair in his tux. Donald and Ivana Trump at the Met Gala in 1986
Ivana’s plans of becoming a celebrity included studying royalty and taking notes, according to Vanity Fair. Tell us they don’t look like they’re trying to be royalty here in December 1986. Ivana wore a look-at-me low-cut red gown with a white fur and jewels while Donald was back in the monkey suit, which could have used an adjustment in the wrinkly shirt area. Donald and Ivana Trump at the Met Gala in 1987
Having purchased Mar-a-Lago in 1985, the Donald and the missus, who are parents to three, had Palm Beach tans by the time the Met Ball rolled around in December 1987. You couldn’t miss them (though look at her dress … and bow). Also, how funny to see him carrying their coats. Now celebrities have people to do that for them, thankyouverymuch. Donald and Ivana Trump at the Met Gala in 1989
Donald and Ivana’s final joint appearance at the Costume Institute Gala was a rather subdued one (for them!). In December 1989, they were there, but she drew less attention for her reserved gown — a strapless black number with pearl beading on the front. He still had problems with his tuxedo shirt. By the following February, they were headed for divorce court. No more galas for them. (Photo: Ron Galella/WireImage)

Donald Trump with date at the Met Gala in 1998
Wife number two, Marla Maples, didn’t get the invite to be Donald’s plus-one at the premiere fashion event, but after their brief marriage was finito (they separated in 1997), he squired a woman identified as Andrea Murray to the 50th anniversary of the ball in December 1998. No surprise that things between them didn’t work out, neither of them looked that happy to be there. (Photo: Ron Galella/WireImage)

Donald Trump with Martha Stewart at the Met Gala in 1998
The same year, Donald hung out with Martha Stewart inside the fashion party. (Again, it didn’t seem like he was having much fun with his date.) Donald’s suit looked better, but honestly we’re pretty distracted by how Martha’s head looks like it’s Photoshopped on someone else’s body in this pic, so it’s hard to really focus on Trump’s attire. Donald Trump with daughter Ivanka and then-girlfriend Melania Knauss at the Met Gala in 2004
By the 2004 ball (which was being held in April), Donald had not one but two beauties on his arms — daughter Ivanka and his model girlfriend, Melania Knauss, whom he first asked out in 1998 — and gave them both kisses on the red carpet of the “Dangerous Liaisons”-themed event. Fun fact: His ex-wife, Ivana, was also there that night (with her short-lived fourth husband, Rossano Rubicondi). Sadly, there were no extended family photos, so we’ll leave you with this smooch. Donald and Melania at the Met Gala in 2006
The next year, in 2006, the pair were new parents to son Barron, whom Melania gave birth to a month earlier, but that didn’t keep them away from the fashion bash. The future FLOTUS, who infamously described giving birth as “very, very easy,” was glowing and voluptuous in her low-cut strapless dress. (Photo: Billy Farrell/Patrick McMullan via Getty Images)

Donald and Melania Trump at the Met Gala in 2007
In 2007, Melania was all like: I’m back. She flaunted her killer body in a shimmery gold number — and even did a kicky pose. (Maybe she’ll do that in her next White House portrait.) Again, here’s a photo of the Donald in a tux. He looks kinda stunned, but we’re sure he was having a blast. (Photo: Billy Farrell/Patrick McMullan via Getty Images)

Donald and Melania Trump at the Met Gala in 2008
The following year, Melania went even bolder when she wore a bright pink gown to the superheroes-themed bash. The Apprentice host loved his finger gestures even then and flashed… a peace sign. Donald and Melania Trump at the Met Gala in 2009
In 2009, it was back to black for Melania and they both looked tanner than ever. The theme was “Model as Muse” and that must have hit home for the Donald. (Photo: CHANCE YEH/Patrick McMullan via Getty Images)

Donald and Melania Trump at the Met Gala in 2010
In 2010, they were back for more. While the Slovenia-born Melania isn’t an “American Woman” (she’s the second first lady born outside the U.S.), that was the theme of the party that year and she fit right in with her beautiful blue dress. Donald brought his smile — and, yes, his tan. He hasn’t left home without it since the ’90s. (Photo: Dimitrios Kambouris/FilmMagic)

Donald and Melania Trump at the Met Gala in 2011
Donald looked really happy to be at the Met Gala in 2011 — and look at the fit of his tux (it has definitely improved through the years). While Melania appeared caught off-guard by photographers (there are a 1,000 there, so weren’t not sure how that’s possible), she still gave good face. She looks a little like Eva Mendes, no? Donald and Melania Trump at the Met Gala in 2012
The Trumps last celebrated the big event in 2012 with the model showing off her killer legs and the prez showing off… a scowl. Will this be the last photo of Donald and Melania at the Met Gala ever? Maybe. Now that he’s president, he can’t easily roll into the Met Gala (it would be a headache for everyone involved) and he has kept away from his hometown since the inauguration — not that New York City liberals have exactly rolled out the welcome mat. (His first visit will be May 4 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the battle of the Coral Sea aboard the U.S.S. Intrepid.) So this photo may be the last of its kind. He’ll be home (in the White House) looking at red carpet photos and tweeting about it, just like the rest of us. (Photo: Charles Sykes/AP)

She made that clear when she shared over the weekend (Sept. 29) that she is a “single girl” and sure gents, you possibly can slide into her DMs, however for now she caught BET up on all issues Laverne at Promoting Week 2019. BET: What does a model being actually inclusive imply to you? Laverne Cox: For me it is about representing the all of the potential shoppers on the market which Smirnoff does an incredible job of worldwide. However I feel it means having individuals of shade. I feel it means having LGBTQ+ individuals. I feel it means having individuals with disabilities. I feel it means [including] people who find themselves dimension zero or dimension 4 like Rihanna just did in the Savage X Fenty show, and never simply in entrance of the cameras however in resolution making course of as properly. And I feel your product goes to be that a lot better if everyone seems to be on the desk and making selections. I imply problematic issues may occur when you do not have numerous individuals behind the scenes. You’ll be able to circumvent all that. I feel variety is healthier. I feel it makes our tradition richer. I feel it makes our lives richer to have totally different individuals in our lives and to have that replicate of their media. (Photograph by Cindy Ord/Getty Photographs for Smirnoff) B: Talking about being inclusion, Orange Is The New Black wasn’t included within the Emmys tribute to exhibits that got here to an finish this 12 months which your costar Danielle Brooks made certain to level out. What are your ideas round that? LC: What I’m questioning is perhaps it’s as a result of Orange is eligible subsequent 12 months. Sure, the present ended this 12 months, however when it comes to committee eligibility, we’re additionally eligible subsequent 12 months as a result of the season got here out afterwards. That is the one factor I can think about why we weren’t included. I did not see that Danny stated one thing about that. I like Danielle. She’s my woman. She’s superior. She’s unbelievable. B: So hopefully you guys get that shout out subsequent time. LC: Sure. I imply, and Danielle wants an Emmy nomination too. Like I do not know what is going on on. [laughs] BET: I noticed your IG submit concerning the Aimee Stephen’s Supreme Court docket case set for Oct. Eight being the primary case involving trans civil rights, are you able to inform us concerning the significance and influence this may have in your group? LC: Sure, Aimee Stephens is considered one of three plaintiffs within the case. So principally, the Supreme Court will be deciding whether or not Title VII, which bans discrimination on the basis of sex, covers the LGBTQ+ community too. Decrease courts are divided, however most decrease courts have determined that Title VII does cowl the LGBTQ+ group. That when you fireplace somebody from their job for being trans that could be a violation of Title VII. It appears apparent, you are discriminating towards them on the idea of intercourse. However once you fireplace somebody for being homosexual or lesbian, that is about intercourse stereotypes. The stereotype is that if you’re male, try to be in a relationship with somebody feminine and that stereotype, and vice versa. That is additionally a violation of Title VII. In order that has large implications for the LGBTQ+ group, but additionally for people who find themselves not homosexual, lesbian, or trans as a result of the administration needs to principally say that it is okay to fireplace somebody based mostly on intercourse stereotypes. So when you’re not “lady sufficient” on your worker, let’s they are saying you suppose you’re too masculine, proper? There was a case Worth Waterhouse v. Hopkins within the late eighties, the place a lady was denied a promotion trigger her employer at Worth Waterhouse stated that she was too masculine, she sued and gained. And that precedent is what the LGBTQ+ group has been utilizing round employment discrimination protections round intercourse stereotypes. So what this administration needs to say is that it’s okay to fireplace somebody if they don’t seem to be manly sufficient in the event that they’re male or when you’re not lady sufficient in the event that they’re feminine. And that shouldn’t be authorized on this nation. If we lose that would have horrible implications for not simply the LGBTQ+ group, however for everybody and could possibly be probably be prolonged to well being care, housing, and so forth. So it’s massively essential. October 8, there’s going to be a rally outdoors the Supreme Court docket. I will be there. Folks must be speaking about this. Folks must be sharing on social media and conscious that it is not simply LGBTQ rights which are on the road. It is all of our rights. B: You have grow to be an icon within the trans group, particularly for Black trans girls. What do you’re feeling is your duty to that group? LC: I might say to be myself. I feel before everything I’ve to be myself. However then additionally, with all of this now privilege that I’ve, I’ve a duty to pay attention much more to my communities and each time attainable to elevate up the voices and the tales of these communities. And yeah, simply converse up and to talk out and use my platform, which I attempt to do once I can. However I am additionally making an attempt to stability that with constructing a profession as an actress and partnering with superb manufacturers like Smirnoff. I’ve had a lot enjoyable working with them on Welcome To The Enjoyable% marketing campaign, the PRIDE marketing campaign and now the vacation marketing campaign. I like that I’ve a unbroken partnership with them. I’ve had a lot enjoyable taking pictures the spots that we have completed collectively and being artistic behind the scenes. I am not simply an actress that they put in and say do that. They need to hear my suggestions. B: You shared a teaser of your cheeky vacation marketing campaign with Smirnoff throughout your session at Promoting Week. Are you able to inform us something about what to anticipate? LC: All I can say, trigger I do not need to give it away absolutely, is that it was a lot enjoyable. Simply shoot, I’ve constantly had a blast working with Smirnoff and it is like a little bit little bit of fantasy success. I feel it is fierce and superb and superior and I hope you’ll too. B: I’ve to ask since Billy Porter is a pricey pal of yours, what was your response to him taking dwelling his first Emmy for Excellent Lead Actor in a Drama Collection? LC: I’ve recognized Billy for years. I don’t even keep in mind once I met Billy. We have been New Yorkers eternally. He used thus far a pal of mine. And simply seeing the world see what I’ve recognized for a really very long time, that Billy is a singular expertise who’s a power of nature. I am excited about the 12 months that Billy’s had, he’s now a fashion icon. He is one-win shy of an EGOT. He’s now bought a Grammy, a Tony and the Emmy. He simply wants an Oscar woman and he’ll have the EGOT. It is so superb and I’m simply so pleased for him and proud and it simply could not occur to a greater individual. England 35-15 Japan: Second-half tries from Cokanasiga and Hartley give England victory
England head coach Eddie Jones says he was happy Japan have been “fired up” by his pre-match declare that they need to “pray, pray, pray”.
England got here from 15-10 right down to win 35-15 of their penultimate autumn worldwide at Twickenham.
Japan coach Jamie Joseph mentioned his gamers have been “extremely motivated” by Jones, including: “It fired me up a bit.”
“That’s precisely what we needed. We needed Japan to be at their greatest,” Jones instructed BBC Radio 5 dwell.
“We did not underestimate them in any respect. We knew it was a troublesome sport.”
“That helped us and helped our motivation.”
Earlier this week, Jones instructed Japan, whom he coached for 3 years from 2012, to “go to the temple”, and that England could be “absolutely ruthless”.
Japan – ranked seven locations under England and 60-7 losers within the groups’ solely earlier Check assembly – led at half-time earlier than England scored 20 unanswered second-half factors.
“Maybe we bought seduced a bit by the beginning,” mentioned Jones, whose aspect led by means of scrum-half Danny Care’s third-minute strive.
“When you rating with the your first contact of the ball, then maybe gamers subconsciously suppose that this isn’t going to be as onerous as we thought it was going to be.”
England’s autumn Checks
All matches at Twickenham
three November Beat South Africa 12-11 10 November Lost to New Zealand 16-15 17 November Beat Japan 35-15 24 November Australia
Australian Jones, 58, mentioned his half-time staff discuss was not significantly ferocious.
He mentioned: “It is completely different as of late. When you get previous 55, you tone it down.
“We simply talked concerning the reality we wanted extra effort and wanted to get caught in. We weren’t getting caught in however began doing that within the second half.
“It is actually pleasing and our gamers will study so much about that.”
George Ford referred to as England’s gamers right into a huddle at half-time
England made 11 modifications to the staff that misplaced 15-16 to New Zealand final weekend, and shortened their preparation time to copy the quick turnarounds concerned within the World Cup.
Earlier than the gamers returned to the dressing room at half-time, fly-half George Ford – captain on his 50th cap – referred to as them right into a huddle on the pitch.
“I requested the gamers whether or not that was ok to play like that for England in a Check match and there was a convincing ‘no’ from everybody,” he instructed BBC Radio 5 dwell.
“We would have liked an angle change and a distinct mindset within the second half, to carry extra vitality and life to our efficiency, significantly defensively.
“The pleasing factor is we bought that response within the second half.”
Evaluation
Former England fly-half Paul Grayson on BBC Radio 5 dwell
If Jones’ feedback final week have been geared toward ensuring that Japan’s gamers have been as fired up as they could possibly be, he may have mentioned it in a greater means.
If you’re going to go into the depths of the World Cup, you’re going to must depend on some fringe gamers. If you name a staff out and say you’re going to stand and ship and fail to take action, that’s some trigger for concern.
Former England wing Ugo Monye on BBC TV
The scoreline does not inform the entire story. Japan have been good right now; their talent degree and creativity was good to look at.
England’s lack of fluency gave the impression to be right down to their indiscipline. It appears to be a working theme in 2018, whether or not it’s the Six Nations, the tour to South Africa or throughout these autumn internationals. They gave away nearly 10 penalties in that first half providing up territory and possession.
England shouldn’t must depend on Owen Farrell to set the bar by way of physicality, management and sport administration. Kyle Sinckler and Sam Underhill additionally lifted the depth after they got here off the bench.
England dug themselves out of a gap and it is that grit that can assist them within the pool phases of subsequent yr’s World Cup.

Report and highlights as United lose two of opening three PL games for first time since 1992; Spurs best start since 2009Last Updated: 28/08/18 12:06am 3:00 Man Utd 0-3 Tottenham Man Utd 0-3 Tottenham Lucas Moura scored twice as Tottenham stunned Manchester United with a 3-0 win at Old Trafford on Monday Night Football. Harry Kane’s superb header from a corner (50) and Lucas’ tidy finish (52) gave Spurs daylight against a shell-shocked United, after Jose Mourinho made six changes from the side that lost 3-2 at Brighton last week. Spurs then caught United on the break to add a third through man-of-the-match Lucas’ fine finish (85), meaning United have suffered their worst start to a Premier League season since 2014. Harry Kane celebrates scoring with Lucas Moura Man Utd: De Gea (5), Valencia (5), Shaw (5), Jones (4), Smalling (4), Matic (4), Fred (5), Herrera (5), Pogba (4), Lingard (5), Lukaku (5). Subs: Sanchez (5), Lindelof (4), Fellaini (5) Tottenham: Lloris (7), Trippier (7), Rose (6), Alderweireld (7), Vertonghen (7), Dier (6), Dembele (7), Alli (6), Eriksen (7), Moura (9), Kane (8). Subs: Aurier (NA), Davies (NA), Winks (NA) Man of the match: Lucas Moura United have also lost two of their opening three Premier League games for the first time since 1992, while Spurs register their best start since 2009/10. Most of the early talk surrounded Mourinho’s tactics, with Ander Herrera starting on the right side of a central-defensive three and Paul Pogba further up the pitch than in previous weeks. Paul Pogba looks on at Old Trafford on Monday night Danny Rose so nearly handed United an early lead with a loose back-pass, but Romelu Lukaku will feel he should have scored having rolled the ball just wide of the open goal after rounding Hugo Lloris. Spurs had a strong call for a penalty turned down by Craig Pawson after Jones’ clumsy challenge on Moura from behind, with Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville agreeing in the MNF studio that Jones should have been penalised. Jose Mourinho made six changes from the side that lost 3-2 at Brighton. Lindelof and Bailly were replaced by Jones and Smalling; Mata, Pereira and Martial were left out of the squad completely, while Valencia, Matic and Herrera came in. Young was also replaced by Lingard. For Spurs, Lloris started despite his off-field controversy, while Sanchez and Davies dropped out for Rose and Dembele. Lamela was injured in the warm-up, replaced by Amos. Kane scored a superb header to put Tottenham ahead on 50 minutes But Spurs went ahead in fine fashion five minutes after the break through Kane’s brilliant header into the far corner from Kieran Trippier’s corner, Tottenham’s first goal at Old Trafford in 433 Premier League minutes. Lloris turned away a Lukaku effort moments later, but it was 2-0 on 52 minutes through Lucas, turning home from 10 yards into the bottom left corner after Christian Eriksen picked him out. Mousa Dembele and Jesse Lingard battle for the ball in midfield United piled on the pressure in hope of halving the deficit, but Lucas broke away to get his second and Spurs’ third, slipping past Chris Smalling and finishing neatly into the left corner past De Gea. Mourinho showed respect to the United fans after the game, standing in front of the Stretford End and clapping the home support for over a minute. 2:57 Mourinho was applauded off at the end of the game Mourinho was applauded off at the end of the game THE MANAGERS Jose Mourinho: “We work all week, and by the strategic point of view we didn’t lose, by the tactical point of view we didn’t lose, but we lost the game. We work very, very well during the week, we prepared the game very well, we played very well, the players had a fantastic attitude.” 5:49 Mourinho insists his tactics did not cause the defeat Mourinho insists his tactics did not cause the defeat Mauricio Pochettino: “After four years of playing here, when you don’t score one goal, to win away from home at Old Trafford it is a massive, massive victory.” 3:56 Mauricio Pochettino hails a ‘massive victory’ Mauricio Pochettino hails a ‘massive victory’ THE PUNDIT Jamie Carragher: “There’s a serious lack of quality, if you’ve spent £400m on a squad. How do you lose 3-0?That’s a team that looks like it still needs £200m spent on it. Some of the defenders there. What’s happened at United in terms of buying two £30m centre-backs? I can’t really criticise Lindelof because it gets to the stage that he’s so far out of his depth that you start to feel sorry for him. In Jones and Smalling, have they improved since Mourinho came in? They’ve been playing for a long time, and it shouldn’t really be happening at this level.” 1:02 Jose walks out of press conference Jose walks out of press conference OPTA STATS * This was Man Utd boss Mourinho’s biggest home defeat in all competitions as a manager. * This was Manchester United’s 50th home defeat in the Premier League. * Mourinho has lost two of his opening three games in a league season for the first time in his career. Luke Shaw was praised after the game by Mourinho for his battling performance, but Chris Smalling and Phil Jones looked nervous in a higher defensive line as Spurs eventually got the better of them. Meanwhile, Jesse Lingard failed to make an impact on his first start since the World Cup. Danny Rose almost handed Romelu Lukaku a goal on a plate early on, Kieran Trippier played extremely high and made an impact on the right flank, and Harry Kane showed his world-class goalscoring ability with a superb header to break the deadlock. Dele Alli was involved, but not outstanding. MAN OF THE MATCH – LUCAS MOURA Lucas became the first player to score a double at Old Trafford in the Premier League since Sergio Aguero in April 2015, and his fine start to the season continued with a vibrant display. Lucas put in a fine display at Old Trafford “He has terrorised the defenders at times with his pace,” said Alan Smith on MNF. “He is clearly really desperate to do well at his new club and he has certainly done brilliantly tonight.” Will Son have a battle on his hands to get back into the starting XI? Almost definitely, VAR would have handed Spurs a first-half penalty. Defender Jones looked directly at referee Pawson after colliding with Lucas in the box, and having looked at the replays, there could have been little complaints. WHAT’S NEXT? Mount Union stifles Mary Hardin-Baylor to win 13th national championship in school history
The Purple Raiders bring the title home again.
Final: Mount Union 12, Mary Hardin-Baylor 0.
For the 13th time in school history, Mount Union is crowned national champions of Division III football.
Fourth quarter
3:27. Mount Union 12, Mary Hardin-Baylor 0.
UMHB’s final act is an incomplete pass in the shadow of its on goal line. The Cru just didn’t have it today, and will punt the ball away with no timeouts and try to get a stop.
11:09. Mount Union 12, Mary Hardin-Baylor 0.
It’s a veritable offensive explosion, as the Raiders add a safety to their total. For a defense that has been really stout all night long, it’s a well-deserved two points.
11:17. Mount Union 10, Mary Hardin-Baylor 0.
The first 20-plus yard play of the game is an absolute banger as far as this game’s concerned.
MOUNT EXTENDS THE LEAD! D'Angelo Fulford to Justin Hill, who makes an incredible touchdown catch! 10-0 Mount with 11:17 left to play. Fulford's 50th touchdown pass and Hill's 20th TD catch #gomountgo #d3fb http://pic.twitter.com/Yuwioq8txS
— MountUnionRaiders (@purpleraiders) December 16, 2017
Great catch, and now Mount Union has a commanding lead, even if it’s only 10 points.
15:00. Mount Union 3, Mary Hardin-Baylor 0.
QB change for UMHB. Trying to get anything going on offense.
Third quarter
6:03. Mount Union 3, Mary Hardin-Baylor 0.
On their last 16 plays, the Cru has gained 24 yards heading into this drive. They gained nearly 80 total yards on their first two drives and haven’t done much of anything since. They still trail, and that’s a different reality for UMHB this season.
This is the first time UMHB has trailed all year and is the first time the Crusaders have been held scoreless at the half since their season-opener vs. UW-La Crosse on 9/11/10
— ODAC (@odacathletics) December 16, 2017
The comeback will not come easy judging by the way tonight’s game has gone for both offenses.
Halftime
Mount Union 3, Mary Hardin-Baylor 0.
The stats, via NCAA.com, tell the story.
Second quarter
1:15. Mount Union 3, Mary Hardin-Baylor 0.
Points! Glorious, glorious points have been scored by the Purple Raiders.
5:41. Mount Union 0, Mary Hardin-Baylor 0.
On the very next play after getting an interception, UMHB throws one of its own to Mount Union DB Gabe Brown. A nice anecdote on ESPN about him: Brown took a year off to go back home and work at a bread factory to pay his way back to school. A reminder that there are no scholarships at the Division II level.

— MountUnionRaiders (@purpleraiders) December 16, 2017
This game’s so even they’re just trading turnovers at this point.
7:45. Mount Union 0, Mary Hardin-Baylor 0.
Freelanced fake punt by a 6’5” punter ...
He's SHORT! Mount Union ball! http://pic.twitter.com/X3JSGFHYe6
— MountUnionRaiders (@purpleraiders) December 16, 2017
... that didn’t work!
10:19. Mount Union 0, Mary Hardin-Baylor 7, err, 0 unfortunately.
Well, we were close to having points as UMHB ran back a punt for a TD. But it gets called back due to a penalty. The search for a score soldiers on.
12:38. Mount Union 0, Mary Hardin-Baylor 0.
The Cru went for it on fourth down with 18 yards to gain inside the red zone instead of kicking the field goal. It didn’t work. Mount Union takes over with not awesome field positioning, so I guess the field position battle has been won.
First quarter
0:00. Mount Union 0, Mary Hardin-Baylor 0.
The end of the first quarter comes, and the only thing to write home about out of that stanza was that at least Mary-Hardin-Baylor’s made it to the red zone. Been that kinda evening so far in Salem, Virginia.
6:37. Mount Union 0, Mary Hardin-Baylor 0.
Strong defenses really aren’t letting anything happen so far in the early going. Mount Union showcases really good open-field tackling here.
GABE BROWN! Forces the third down and UMHB punts after an incompletion! Purple Raider ball! #gomountgo #d3fb http://pic.twitter.com/bf79wsYHl8
— MountUnionRaiders (@purpleraiders) December 16, 2017
15:00. Mount Union 0, Mary Hardin-Baylor 0.
Wanna talk about efficient? My man D’Angelo Fulford does not make many mistakes. Large reason why Mount Union is back in the title game this season.
Preview
A pair of teams very familiar with playing in the NCAA Division III National Championship will meet up for the 2017 title game at Salem Stadium in Salem, Va., at 7 p.m. ET Friday on ESPNU (live stream), when the Mary Hardin-Baylor Cru take on the Mount Union Purple Raiders in the Stagg Bowl.
The two top-ranked DIII teams proved they were the best of the bunch by the end of the tournament, with No. 1 Mary Hardin-Baylor winning over No. 11 Brockport State (N.Y.), and No. 2 Mount Union mounting a 25-point comeback to beat No. 3 Wisconsin-Oshkosh in the semifinals. Here's a look at the full bracket, via NCAA.com.
Both teams head into the title game undefeated (14-0) with Mary Hardin-Baylor coming off a 24-0 shutout for its 29th consecutive win. These two teams really only get together with high stakes on the line.
This will be the last time the DIII championship game will be played in Salem for the next several years, with the Stagg Bowl games in 2018 and 2019 being played Shenandoah, Texas, and the 2020 and 2021 games in Canton, Ohio.
Time, TV channel, and streaming info
Time: 7 p.m. ET
Location: Salem Stadium, Salem, Va.
TV: ESPNU
Streaming: WatchESPN
Stagg Bowl news:
Players from both teams were named to the 2017 AFCA Division III Coaches’ All-America team.
Despite losing a few of its top defenders after last season, Mary Hardin-Baylor’s defense is still top notch, and its offense is aggressive as well:
But the Raiders will face a Mary Hardin-Baylor squad that not only leads D3 in allowing a mere seven points per game, but also ranks second in the nation in rushing yards allowed (47.8), third in total yards allowed (222.9), third in third down conversion defense (22.5 percent), and No. 1 in red zone defense (33.3 percent).
After falling behind 35-10, the Purple Raiders topped their season and career-bests in order to pull out the 43-40 victory:
Mount Union quarterback D'Angelo Fulford completed 28-of-42 passes for 330 yards while throwing for a score and running for another.
Petruccelli had a career-high 27 carries for 132 yards while he had Evans-Morris each ran for two scores while Jared Ruth had 11 catches for 130 yards, Justin Hill had 102 yards receiving and Luke Herrington caught a touchdown.
Aside from the two interceptions, the Raider defense also got a game-high 12 stops from Danny Robinson.
Stagg Bowl winners from 2015 and 2016 will face-off in 2017
This marks the 20th time Mount Union will play for the DIII championship and could complete a perfect season for the Purple Raiders who currently sit at 14-0 on the year. The Raiders are no strangers to living supreme, having won 12 championships, last claiming the title in 2015 over St. Thomas.
Not nearly as experienced on the big stage as their opponent, the Mary Hardin-Baylor Cru are fresh off their first-ever national championship win — beating Wisconsin-Oshkosh 10-7 in 2016. As the reigning titleholders, the Cru bested the Purple Raiders in last year’s semifinal game en route to their championship win.
This matchup marks the fourth time these two teams will meet, but the first time in the National Championship game. Mary Hardin-Baylor holds the edge in the series, 2-1, and will look to extend that lead on Friday.
Stagg Bowl prediction:
Despite the Purple Raiders looking for their revenge from last season — and coming off a huge comeback win — the Mary Hardin-Baylor Cru have too many weapons for Mount Union to contain. The Cru end up defending their title in Salem.
