-Hobie wakes up SUPER early to make Gwen pancakes almost every day (they’re her favorite), and he puts a buncha bananas and chocolate chips in them 😋

-MOVIE NIGHTS!!! Every weekend! I can picture Gwen and Hobie staying up till like 1am watching something on Hobie’s TV, Hobie makes popcorn and Gwen usually gets to choose the movie, but when Hobie picks a movie it’s either the goofiest shit you’ve ever seen or some crazy horror shit he picks just to scare Gwen (she secretly loves it though)

-Hobie’s a morning person, but Gwen DEFINITELY isn’t. Hobie would hover over Gwen at like 6am while she’s sleeping and blast an airhorn in her ear while yelling “RISE N SHINE!”

-I feel like Hobie would randomly ruffle Gwen’s hair, not because it’s soft or anything, but because he just wants to mess it up cause he thinks it’s funny 😹

-Ohhh Hobie would TOTALLY let Gwen paint his nails. Probably for a dare or something but I think he’d actually like how it turns out. He’d choose all the craziest color combos and Gwen would be all like “HOLD STILL” as she mischievously giggles and Hobie regrets all of life choices. This whole entire thing could also work the other way around actually (New headcanon: Hobie knows how to paint nails)

-They definitely play Roblox together at like 2am, mostly horror games. I can see both of them screaming at the top of their lungs when they get jumpscared but Hobie would scream at everything even if it’s not a jumpscare and Gwen would just laugh hysterically (Just like my last headcanon, this could also work the other way around)

-Hobie offered to teach Gwen how to play guitar one time and she said yes, so now she takes guitar lessons with him almost every day, and in return Gwen teaches Hobie how to play the drums 😸

-Hobie occasionally plays in the Mary Janes and almost all of them are DOWN BAD for him. Like when Gwen first introduced them to Hobie they all fell in love the second they saw him. Oh and when Hobie can’t play, he comes to their shows and has the proudest smile on his face when he watches Gwen play the drums. <3

-When they’re on missions together, each of them has one AirPod in so they can listen to some music. They have pretty similar music tastes but Hobie mostly listens to punk rock and metal, and Gwen also listens to punk and classic rock. They show each other their favorite bands while they’re swingin’ around.

-Since Hobie’s dimension is set in like the 70���s, he takes Gwen to all sorts of places that don’t exist in Earth-65 anymore. He also takes her to a ton of concerts, cool restaurants, aaand clubs, pubs, and bars. How did they get in you may ask? Hobie has a couple of fake ID’s 😼 (they’ve definitely been kicked out of at least 5 places)

-Gwen steals all of Hobie’s stuff, mostly clothes but it can be anything. Oh, he has a cool pair of shoes? She’s taking them (canon). He has a nice jacket? Snatched. A poster of a band she really likes? BOOM! It’s hers now. She’ll usually leave sticky notes next to the thing she stole so Hobie knows who took it, but he’ll figure out who stole it anyways.

-Gwen stays up late and gushes on about Miles for HOURS to Hobie without even realizing how long she’s yapping for, and Hobie just listens with a smirk on his face.

-They got matching piercings!!! Hobie’s amazing at piercing stuff and has a shit ton of jewelry, so sometimes he lets Gwen borrow some or if it’s REALLY special he’ll give some to her as a gift. And Hobie lets Gwen do wacky shit to his hair, like giving him braids or dying the ends pink so he can match hers. Speaking of which, Hobie helped Gwen dye her hair pink when she first decided she wanted to :3

-They both have a soft spot for animals, specifically cats. If there’s a cat on the street, both of them are stopping whatever the hell they’re doing to go pet that cat. Hobie takes Gwen to cat cafes all the time, or just cat infested areas. Gwen ALWAYS asks if they can keep them, so sometimes Hobie takes a couple stray cats and dogs back to his place so they can get food and shelter. (He’s so sweet guys)

-(WARNING!! very angsty) Sometimes Hobie walks in on Gwen while she’s crying, he immediately gets concerned and always rushes to her to ask what’s going on while he speaks in the gentlest way possible to try and calm her down. Hobie is one of the only people Gwen feels comfortable opening up to, so she tells him things she normally keeps bottled up. Gwen starts rambling on and on about how she really feels while more tears form in her eyes and her voice becomes shaky as she starts to breakdown completely. Hobie then pulls Gwen into a hug, and she clings onto him tightly as she cries into his shoulder, Hobie rubs her back in a soothing way to try and comfort her in any way he can.

-PILLOW FIGHTS!!!!! 90% of the time, Hobie’s the one who starts them. While Gwen is just chilling on the couch or about to go to bed, he’ll just *WHACK* and Gwen fights back and it ends up lasting for like 30 minutes. Oh and I can also imagine them having water gun fights at Hobie’s place.

-Amusement parks. They LOVE amusement parks and arcades, especially Gwen. She’s obsessed with rollercoasters and always asks to go twice, and Hobie is a god at all the arcade games, and he always wins stuff for Gwen. Bonus: One time Hobie won Gwen a baby deer plushie and she named it Miles.

After having reread the first chapter of Retrocausality and the newest chapter of AAIT, I'm REALLY curious how Jaime will react when (if?) Bart tells him that Owen is in their timeline after having heard Bart's stories and literally having seen Bart cry about Owen and his past

Like okay, Jaime still being a Mom Friend and defending Owen after Bart said that he loves Jaime more than his own brother is such a Jaime thing to do but I also feel like Owen (accidentally?) completely messed Bart's view of a stable life up in their own timeline, and I very much believe that Jaime knows that and very much holds that against Owen

i don’t even mean this hyperbolically but u’ve nailed the situation exactly as it is (and nicely tied up the two plot points that were the reason for why i couldn’t help but post the prologue to Retrocausality, like i really couldn’t help myself LOL)

the “accidentally completely messed Barts view of a stable life up in their own timeline” is everything because yes, the horrors of a post apocalyptic society isn’t just the event that had caused everything and the wasteland of an environment they had to live in, but also the resulting toxic and abusive remains of a society that they have to grow up in and navigate.

Owen is a character who i see as deeply flawed, but that’s also inadvertently his appeal/charm. And I think his tropes play nicely into Barts themes. Owen’s not a bad person and he’s always just trying his best, but that doesn’t excuse his actions (?) either.

Whilst i think (and did atleast attempt to allude throughout AAIT in spite of/including the latest chapter) that the two cared for eachother deeply, i think it’s realistic to expect it to have been a heavy and loaded relationship. And despite Jaimes sympathetic mom friend nature (as u so nicely put it lol) he feels for Bart and in doing so he knows that he ultimately loved Owen which is ironically why he’s arguing with him because it’s like he wants to help bart untangle his messed up view of his relationship with owen. But hes only doing that because of his friendship and understanding for the other, and at the same time 100% does hold it against Owen.

there is then the role of what it means for jaime to be blue beetle and how Owen would cope with that, but that’s a whole other essay in itself 😹

as i low-key may have spoiled in some previous posts, the very important points that u’ve raised do manifest in upcoming chapters but- probably not in the way u might be thinking/expect, atleast not this “early” on in Retrocausality .

The astrology marketing scam!!!

I've been researching the past month observing what astrologers are doing and what their own clients say about them. I've definitely paid for readings in the past so I have my own experiences. I came across a video last night of women accusing sunnymfmoney astrology of many things.

I'm noticing a trend with what some people call pop astrology. The goal is to talk about zodiac signs because this gets the general public interested. They say the most generic or cliche things that can relate to any sun sign.

For example Libras get very angry when they have to wake up for work 😹😹Which obviously gets most people invested. This then inflates the views and follows. Another trick with it is by talking about eclipses, retrogrades, full moons. They'll say stuff like this Venus retrograde Leo signs can experience hardships or breakups in relationships. Then everyone will chime in on the comments saying stuff like "wow I just broke up with my boyfriend last week." Now others will believe the credibility of this source. Even though they haven't even said if someone is a Leo moon, Leo rising, a Leo sun etcetera. Yet somehow a very broad general statement can relate to them personally.

Now they have 100,000 plus followers. This method works mainly on TikTok I've noticed. People see a large following on social media so now they trust and believe everything he or she says. They even are willing to give them money for anything just because the following count gives the illusion that this person has value in what they are saying.

With a big following count now what do they do. They'll provide their followers with readings. Readings of all sorts: synastry, birth chart, transits etc. They even provide course services mentoring and teaching people how to read birth charts.

I remember paying a nakshatra course from krs astrology and I learned nothing from it. I didn't even finished it. Which is ironic because he is very knowledgeable about astrology and his videos helped me become great with this astrology thing. I paid for a navamsa book from him it was useless. I can't even remember one thing I read from it.

Now imagine paying for a course from someone that only talks about Leos, Virgos etc. I don't mind someone doing this if they are an amateur and using it to build themselves up. In my beginnings to this day I regret a lot of the things I was saying. I look back at how I read birth charts and I be like boy I messed up 😹😹. I even be wishing I could apologize to those people but I was very far from bad. I was never one of these types of people promoting zodiac signs. Which made me have lots of potential regarding astrology. I always focused on what the houses represented, lords and house rulerships.

How to spot these marketing scams?

1. You'll see most of them on TikTok.

2. They only talk about eclipses, retrogrades, basically horoscope stuff.

Number 2 is most problematic on this list because they have no basis or foundation in what they're saying. Which shows that there potential with astrology will be weak.

3. They don't use charts especially celebrity charts to give an idea of how they would read a chart. Which is crazy because now you are giving this person your money without validity. You are just going off following count. Instead if they have a celebrity's chart on display you can easily see if something occured in a celebrity's life.

4. How can someone read your transits and they don't even have proof of them making predictions.

5. Watch out for those that provide courses. This is very tricky. The best way you can tell if you should be paying someone for a course is if they don't do things on this list.

When it comes to courses I've seen tons of people complaining about spending thousands on a course. Like the whole course would actually cost a thousand plus. Me personally I paid a course or as he calls it a webinar from Marc Boney. I honestly don't regret it not one bit. What he does is create books and make courses surrounding the contents in a specific book. Which is great because paying for the book first will let you know if a course is worth it or not.

6th. Don't fall for someone promoting the length of how long they have been learning or practicing astrology. Many use it as a promotional tool when it doesn't prove anything.

Low Calorie Vegan 2-Ingredient Brownies

As you may have noticed, I’ve recently gotten into healthy low calorie baking. Earlier today, I found this recipe video by Rahul Kamat and decided to give it a spin myself.

Btw, go check out his channel! It’s full of videos on low calorie baking and he also provides nutritional info about everything he makes.

Now, let's get cracking!

What you’ll need

Tools

A square baking tin

A fork

A spatula

A piece of parchment paper

A bowl

Ingredients

6 bananas

40g cocoa powder

A pinch of salt

Sweetener (optional)

Process

Preheat your oven to 175 degrees Celsius.

2. Mash the bananas until there is a smooth mixture. Yes, your arms will hurt, but it’s a free workout.😉😝

Think of the reward!

I’ll admit, though, my batter still had some wee lumps because I used bananas that weren’t fully ripe (I don’t have much of a sweet tooth). Then again, you can only do so much when your arms are pure jelly.

2. Add the cocoa powder and fold it into your banana mush with a spatula. Add a pinch of salt. Optional: add sweetener to taste.

3. Crumble the baking paper and line your baking tin with it.

4. Plop it in the oven for 30 minutes.

[Optional] Lick the bowl clean before you give it a wash and clean up the rest of the mess.😉

5. After 30 minutes, pull the brownie from the oven. It could look a bit burnt, but that’s alright. The top should be firm. Also, it’s supposed to jiggle when you give it a shake.

TRUST THE PROCESS!

Here’s what mine looks like:

6. Let it cool until it’s reached room temperature and plonk it into the fridge for about 2 hours to properly firm up.

7. Cut into either 6 (118 kcal per serving) or 16 pieces to enjoy with a cuppa or on its own.

I grew a bit impatient and had two slices already despite it not having firmed up enough yet. HOLY F*, IT’S SO GOOD! It’s so soft and moist. Just melts on the tongue.🤤

Gods, I could honestly eat the whole tray.

Also, this is a good example of what happens when there are banana chunks left in your batter. I guess my brownie truly is a banana brownie, haha.🤗😹

Side note:

- 6 pieces (118kcal per serving)

- 16 pieces (44kcal per serving)

And there you have it, a simple yet delicious low calorie vegan brownie. Let me know what your opinion is if you try this one out.

I can understand about the whole nightmare part. Altho I have not been in such an intense situation like you (that’s why I give it to u always that you’re super strong bc you are my love) but I have had super dark times too and I can relate to that part where I’d be terrified and cry myself to sleep everyday and beg whatever deity was listening to make it better tomorrow and make it all vanish..but everyday I woke up and nothing changed and that made me feel devastated and made me feel like I was better off gone 💔

December 2023 Reading Update!

Despite how busy November was, I finished a bunch of things (though there were two short novellas and a DNF in there, to be fair)! So there's a bunch of mini-reviews ahead, balanced by the fact that December is a quiet month for publishing, so I don't have anything big to highlight coming up.

So here's the Keep Reading break for the Long Post ahead!

November Mini-Reviews

The Forest Brims Over by Maru Ayase - 4 stars

Each of the chapters is told from a different perspective, circling inward to Rui herself at the end. There's a lot of examination over gender roles and iniquities, though it plays a little softball with the subject for my taste. I tend to prefer when women are allowed their full rage, and kinda feel some folks were let off the hook a little easy.

Lone Women by Victor LaValle - 5 stars

This was a wild ride; I understand why folks can't say too much about this one, because the journey takes many unexpected turns. What you can expect is for the chills to come from human sources at least as often as supernatural ones. I'm more interested than ever to pick up The Changeling from LaValle now, as I've heard it's incredible, too.

Fresh Dirt from the Grave by Giovanna Rivero - DNF

As much as I enjoyed the first couple stories, there were iffy things in the next two or three that put me off, particularly with portrayals of Indigenous folks and disability. Chose not to finish and to leave it unrated.

The Crane Husband by Kelly Barnhill - 4.5 stars

Heartbreaking. Hard to say much without revealing too much for this short novella. Just be warned it's a lot of parental neglect and abuse for the main character.

Feed Them Silence by Lee Mandelo - 3 stars

I could make a full post as long as this one about my thoughts on this little novella. I will say the main character's already a mess going in, and the time spent with the wolf is actually not a whole lot. I could see the points the book was making, but the execution wasn't quite there for some of them. The prose was good, and I'm still interested in their novel, Summer Sons, for now.

Current December Reads

Speaking Bones by Ken Liu

Almost halfway through! Just got through a battle that lasted 100 pages, due to interludes about the development of the technologies involved, and that's delightfully typical of this series. 😹

Loot by Tania James

Almost 1/3rd through. Pleasantly surprised by how much I'm enjoying this, so far. As a history nerd, I personally recommend looking up the situation in Mysore, India around the time of Tipu Sultan's reign for extra context and immersion.

Organ Meat by K-Ming Chang

Less than 50 pages in, but already noted down so many bits of prose I adore. This is absolutely not for everybody, both for sheer quantity of bodily fluids and functions mentioned, but also its shifting narrative style. So far chapters have been in first person POV, third person POV, and pure dialog written in a script-like format. Absolutely loving it.

The Lizard Prince and Other South American Stories

I forgot to mention I received my copy of this from Iron Circus Comics a couple months ago, after backing their crowdfunding for it last year! This completes their Cautionary Fables & Fairytales series, covering the stories of six continents!

Tomb Sweeping by Alexandra Chang

My pick from Book of the Month for December! It's an anthology of short fiction spanning the US and parts of Asia.

There's a lot to do this month for the holidays and preparations for the new year, so I'm not loading up my reading radar for now. If I finish Loot, I'll likely pick up my other giveaway win, Our Shadows Have Claws, so I can review it. If I finish Organ Meats, the next library read will depend on a few things, including how accessible my preferred branches are with holiday hours and inclement weather concerns 🙀

i cant believe may is dwindling to an end🦭🥲 one of the most memorable months eva 🐼i got ready then walked down to westwood w/ kaui, emma, kelly, nikki ! @kauibunga and i hv gone to westwood together like 4 times this week it is getting concerning :d we went to lucy in the sky to buy dresses ! it was a bonding moment bc we changed in da same room 😹nikki & i got kids meals n ice cream at chikfila yus. we met all our pbros at dnta it took like 2 hours to gather us all 💀many of us stuffed into chels' car & we headed to santa monica pier w/ good music blasting! we went on the pier and on the sand in our bus pro & cow ears. we kept getting looked at from the ppl on the streets so we told them we r 'bruin safety for cows'. we went to santa monica promenade to shop for gifts for our biggos. then we drove to USC to take a pic w tommy trojan n ucla merch n had some real pee [space] bro bonding in the library 🧐we drove to sun nong dan n it was SO BUSSSS delishus. we ended the night doing work tgt in rieber terrace n ethan dropped off my pool noodle 🤯today was core memory. it was super packed but i spent the whole time w/ my mus and we had so much fun together talking about random things and messing around 😹

JP Update: kelly & i spent all of today together again! we went to lucy in the sky and she bodied those dresses omg. we went to santa monica & usc together and she had very yummy food.

😹😹😹 Ida Manson was and is an amazing character and I can so believe that in her younger years she went and a thing with Constantine. Question is, since her son is blonde, should that make Sam John’s granddaughter or just the granddaughter of his ex? Because either way would be delicious chaos, but if we go that she’s his granddaughter I’m all for that too simply because John would have more an obligation to make sure his granddaughter and her friends aren’t getting rekt by otherworldly issues.

True that, that’s why I suggested he ask Poindexter, Technus, or Youngblood in the first place. Poindexter doesn’t take well with bullies and parents that allow their children to fall through like that, Technus can totally ruin the Drakes’ work and dig up all their illegal activities - you don’t get artifacts that might or might not be cursed and have great significance to people where those artifacts originate without some shady stuff - and do I even need to explain Youngblood? The ghost that can only be seen by children? That loves messing around with adults? And would especially have a grudge against those adults that hurt kids, their own especially?

I think mainly for Jazz it’s because with Jack and Maddie not paying attention to their kids as much as they should’ve, Jazz would take on the role of parent to Danny, but considering she defended her and Danny from a turkey that tried eating them with a broom and her own fighting skills, plus the whole thing with Vlad where she tricked him when she was proving her worth to Danny as part of his team, I feel like she’d be a great assist.

Oh definitely. I’ve seen a few DPxDC where she’s with Klarion because they’re both chaotic little shits. While personally not fond of the pairing I do understand when given that, Ellie is after all a menace. She’d teach Tim the time honored tradition of pranks, encouraging his chaotic tendencies.

That new exception would lead to them having to actually learn because Danny contradicts all that they know, especially when it comes to the fact Danny has an understanding of ghosts due to being part of them.

Well I don’t think instinctive knowledge because he is still only half ghost, yet Danny would have an understanding after getting taught more about ghosts and himself about fulfilling his own Obsessions of space and protection. Danny could totally make his own stars! He’s powerful enough to combat against Ancients and Pariah Dark, I feel like that goes without saying. I love Ancient of Space and Ghost King Danny just because what he’s capable of. One of his new tricks as he’s coming into his powers potentially being able to create stars.

Ooo you bring up a good point! Sam would be pretty wiggy with Ivy’s mind control and possession, since her own time as Undergrowth’s “daughter” really messed her up. I actually had an idea regarding liminality and ecto-continuation for after that. Probably not enemies at first sight but Sam would be pretty argumentative with her regarding that.

Well yeah not yet on their meeting but just imagine, @krzys2000 . Just imagine!

Basically, Ellie adopting kiddie Tim. She’d been doing her cross country fly trip, visiting Gotham. Going invisible to not be spotted, Ellie ends up spotting the Bat and bird’s tag-along, a little kid that’s lugging around a camera.

Of course, she’s interested in what his deal is. This is a little kid that’s out late at night chasing vigilantes who are chasing criminals. Does he have good blackmail photos?

And look, she didn’t really intend to adopt a kid, but now she had because he’s a neglected child in a mansion too big and too lonely that he sought to keep himself sane by chasing after vigilantes.

Ellie is only a bit older than Tim, so she can’t be his mom, so she settles with being the most badass sister, second only to Jazz! Because it’s Jazz. She has the right to the #1 title.

Tim meanwhile is finding himself enjoying having an older sister that can walk through walls, disappear, and fly! It makes getting pictures of Batman and Robin so much easier with her help!
