I know no one follows this blog because I haven’t been here in fully two years but —

A dark Avatar AU where Zuko finds Aang in the iceberg instead of Katata and Sokka, so none of the events of the show’s main timeline take place. Zuko takes Aang home to the Fire Nation and gets everything he thought he wanted long before Iroh had much effect on him. And the Fire Nation disposed of the Avatar. So over the following fifteen years, both the world and Zuko get much worse than they were in canon.

At one point, Azula and Zuko conspire to murder and overthrow Ozai, a thing Zuko fully expects (being very angry and confused) will make him feel better, but instead it makes him feel much worse, though he denies this to himself and others.

The story begins when Zuko is 30, and his royal doctor tells him he’s dying of alcoholic organ failure. The Fire Nation has just dealt the resistance a devastating blow in a battle that was widely considered the resistance’s best chance. So Zuko decided he has one last great act in him before he kicks the bucket: He will end the war. Since he’s had so much luck hunting symbols before, he decides he will hunt down and kill the symbols of the resistance, Toph the Builder and the Turncoat General Iroh. With their heroes dead, the resistance will crumble, and Zuko can die at peace knowing he made the Fire Nation’s supremacy enduring and complete. (What he doesn’t realize is that he is very much mistaken about the causes of his lack of inner peace.)

There’s just one problem: Azula knows Zuko is a drunk, even if he is also a capable military commander, so she sends a trusted aid of unknown origin but unquestionable loyalty along with Zuko: The intelligent, sarcastic Soza. They dislike being on this mission together immediately, and things don’t get any better when they come across a man and a woman in the forest outside the Fire Nation stronghold in Ba Sing Se. The woman is someone who Soza fears will recognize him—resistance spymaster Katara. She’s just busted out this man, who claims he’s an escaped mental patient who used to believe he’s the Avatar—and who Zuko alone knows *is* the Avatar, which means Azula has been hiding important things from Zuko all these years.

So with a little luck and a little skill, Zuko convinces this strange crew to help him find his uncle—lying to them that he just wants to see the man again. The rest of them would love to find Iroh’s hidden encampment, since the fractured nature of the resistance means they don’t always know where he is. So they set out together, Zuko absolutely filled to the brim with betrayals waiting to happen, Soza working very hard to not go within six feet of Katara, and Aang battling the deeply ingrained belief that he cannot trust his own mind for anything.

Ember Island Players is simultaneously one of my favorite episodes and one of my worst triggers. Yes, I am open about it. No, you will not convince me to ship K*taang. Both characters deserved much better than what Bryke wrote for them.

This is my “safe place.” This is where I go when things get bad and I want to indulge in escapism through one of my hyperfixations. When the real world is unbearable, when I’m legitimately terrified and embarrassed to be an American, this is where I come to laugh.

For this reason, I’m going to refrain from putting many, if any, political/personal things on this blog.

Rest assured, my main blog is full of updates and factual (to the best of my knowledge) news as things progress. I also have significantly more followers over there, so the information is reaching a larger crowd than I could ever hope to on this blog.

reyna ramirez-arellano (percy jackson): i will never not love reyna. i think her storyline is unconventional even for pjo. she’s the leader and was the praetor of camp jupiter which is far more successful and larger than camp halfblood (i love camp halfblood but…). she is rational and such a wise leader and does what is best for her people. i LOVE that she doesn’t have a set love interest despite that part of her story being a conflict with her. she is such an independent and well-rounded character who i will love forever.

violet baudelaire (a series of unfortunate events): i will have to agree with you there olive that I absolute adore violet. she was such an inspiration and never underestimated herself, uplifted her brother and friends and managed to keep a positive attitude the entire time… i love it.

karen page: (daredevil): what i love most about Karen is that she has so much drive. she sees something, she doesn’t like it and she automatically decides to go do something about it. Karen had such a good way of communicating with people, getting her stories, and also had such a good redemption storyline that wasnt even revealed till the end?? her comeback from being an addict was amazing and i love her motivation to write about the truth.

cece parekh (new girl): cece is everything. never had i seen the hot best friend be played by a person of color let alone an indian woman until new girl. i love that cece has such an understanding of herself. she loves her friends deeply, isn’t ashamed of her job, is brutally honest, and isn’t afraid to speak her mind. she was the original girlboss and we are here for it.

paris geller (gilmore girls): paris, once again, being the definition of a girlboss. she really did all AP classes, tons of volunteer work, ran the school paper and later the paper at Yale, and worked harder than anyone on that show, got rejected from her dream school and bounced back stronger. Paris is relatable to me (talks a lot, academic validation) and in the end she’s a successful entrepreneur and doctor?? love it.

okoye (marvel/mcu): i know she isn’t a popular character to put but i love okoye. her strong sense of self and loyalty to wakanda (“for wakanda… without hesitation“) FUCKING AMAZING

jo march (little women): as much as i love Amy, jo has always been my inspiration. she isn’t afraid to be who she is and even strives to clear her own path in the world to accommodate what she wants to do. she doesn’t wait around and her character is so well-rounded because she strives for this dream and goal but also ends up longing for someone (#relatable)

sally albright (when harry met sally): i think i just like female reporter characters but sally is not only well dressed but also well expressed. for it being the 80s, sally is unashamed to be opinionated, very intelligent both literally and emotionally, and has such distinct flaws that i love how human she is. sally supremacy

toph (avatar: the last airbender): her attitude is everything. toph just constantly says “fuck it” and knows herself well. i love how iroh teaches her to open up and trust others (something i struggle with) and in the end her story arc is incredible?? she learns to trust more and be more open while keeping the rest of her personality in tack??

diane nguyen (bojack horseman): everyone hates Diane but I will defend her to my dying day because that woman is just depressed and in need of help and she gets it in the end as she deserves. i can’t even begin to start with diane but please know I defend her to my last breath.
