i think it'd be morbidly funny that because there was no food in horrortale but the cutlery and stuff was all there that maybe he would pretend to eat with no food on the plate. it was in a satirical way that he would joke maybe around horror paps or alone where he would pretend to eat and have really good table manners but then the satire joke became REAL and now horror is incredibly specific about how to eat food

you MUST hold the fork in the left and knife in right says horror. no killer you can't duel wield the fucking knives this is a table not a slaughterhouse. dust pick up your elbows off the table. actually how about you get your entire upper body off the table tf why are you SLEEPING ON THE FOOD??? killer's sitting fetal position in the chair because of course he wouldn't sit normally like the idiot he is. dust is forced to put his hood down and reveal his face no more mysterious shadow style because it puts horror at ease. they cannot have a single peaceful meal because once they get past the table manners phase it then becomes a completion to see who can eat the least (because they suck at everything including eating)

Every word you wrote about Tamara is just FACTS!!!!!!!!!!!! What I would have given for Grag & Tamara to be so broken because of magic, that they both had plans of revenge. Getting more people involved behind the scenes even. Tragic, yet understandable backstories and a real threat to Storybrooke from the outside world. The fears of some folks in town coming true (the whole E.T. thing Leroy mentioned in the hospital after Greg first showed up). The danger of having magic in a non-magical world.

EXACTLY!!! 'Tragic yet understandable' is the perfect way to phrase it, because OUAT is very good at including antagonists with these kinds of backstories (although, the effectiveness of this varies from character to character) and I'm sad that Tamara didn't get enough attention to receive the same treatment!

Okay, so, I'm gonna lay out some thoughts properly because why not:

(Disclaimer: I'm adding a read more because this got VERY out of hand. But please read on if anyone is interested in headcanoned Tamara backstory!)

(Second disclaimer: I've actually used this general backstory for Tamara in one of my fics before, although I wasn't able to go into quite as much detail at the time)

So, imagine. Tamara is a child (maybe 10 or 11). She has a happy family; parents that love her, a younger brother that she cares about a lot, a pet goldfish, whatever. And then imagine that, one night, 10 year old Tamara hears a noise from her brother's bedroom. She goes to investigate it but, when she opens the door, she finds herself frozen in shock. The window is wide open and her brother is floating in the middle of the room.

There's the faint sparkle of a glowing green dust on him and a dark shadow with bright, hollow eyes floats just beside him. Tamara pinches herself. She thinks she's dreaming. She's not. The shadowy figure spots her and before she can do a thing to stop it, the creature has taken her brother's hand and flown out the window with him. Maybe he cheerfully waves goodbye, maybe he doesn't even notice that she was there at all.

When Tamara finally works up the courage to move, she rushes to the window. Her brother is long gone, but there's a very fine sprinkle of green dust on the windowsill left in his absence.

Of course, she goes to tell her parents and, of course, they panic. Tamara tries to tell them what she saw but they naturally ignore any claims that she saw her brother flying or that the person that kidnapped him was nothing but a shadow with white, glowing eyes.

There was no sign of a break in from anywhere in the apartment. And the investigation team are baffled as to how anyone could have clambered in and out of the window when the room is situated on the third floor of the building. Tamara's brother never comes back and it's eventually considered a cold case.

Tamara has always considered herself honest, logical and responsible. For a long while, she insists that what she saw was true. It's only after she starts getting therapy that she begins to doubt things.

Therapy does little to fix things. Her family is completely broken. A year or so down the line, her parents divorce. Tamara starts to visit her Grandmother more and more often and she develops a very tight bond with her.

Tamara grows up and moves on from it all as best she can. She eventually stumbles into the same conspiracy group that Greg is a part of. They don't connect right away, but, after a couple of meet ups, they discover that they have a lot in common and also come to realise that, perhaps, they're the only two people in this group that have actually seen real magic.

They eventually confide in one another, talking about how 'magic' has ruined their lives. How it's hurt them in ways that no one else in this group that they're a part of will understand. They connect (idk, they can still get together romantically if they want, although I personally didn't see much chemistry between them and the show only really paired them up for shock value let's be honest) and they start talking about fairy tales and Storybrooke.

(Side note, since Greg is kind of aware of Regina being the Evil Queen (right? or is he not aware of that until he reaches Storybrooke again?) maybe he's even able to suggest that it could have been Peter Pan/Peter's Shadow that kidnapped her brother. I like the idea that he's very overly familiar with a lot of fairy tales and stories is more than willing to consider them in the real world ever since his interaction with Regina)

Anyway, I don't know HOW (and forgive me if I'm missing something from canon here, I'm guessing it maybe had something to do with Pan) but I like the idea of Greg in particular managing to track down either August or Neal (since, aside from Emma, those two are the links that lead back to Storybrooke). And, from here, the pair of them start working on plans to get to Storybrooke.

Greg and Tamara are both therefore stuck with these similar backstories, involving someone they loved being taken from them by someone magical. And ALSO similar in the sense that...no one believed them when they tried to tell the truth about this... Not only would this be about getting some kind of revenge (Greg wanting to get closure on his father and then kill Regina when he confirms that she did murder his dad, and Tamara desperate to find some trace of the shadow that took her brother), but it would also be about proving that they were right this entire time. That they weren't lying or 'crazy' or making things up. That magic is real and it's dangerous.

I guess the dilemma for Greg and Tamara is: how? How are they able to prove that magic actually exists, in a world where magic is unseen to those that don't believe in it? (This is a question that I will be pondering on, but not one that I'll be answering here. This ask has already gotten too long, ahahah)

(Still, there's one final thing I'd like to address)

Because, you see, there's something so deliciously tragic about Pan being the one to cause this trauma in the first place. For him to be so heavily responsible for Tamara's tragic childhood and then him continuing to have a chokehold on Tamara years later on. OUGH.

That said? yeah, I absolutely would have preferred if the Pan arc had been kept entirely separate from Greg and Tamara's (aka, they were there exclusively for their own reasons and not just because Pan said so). Greg and Tamara deserved their own arc that had nothing to do with Neverland. No 'home office', no dumb crystal that was triggered to explode the town or whatever (or! DO include those things! but tie them exclusively to John and Michael's story instead!)

I just!!!!!! I have way more feelings about Tamara (and to a lesser extent Greg/Owen) than I know I should and I'm getting a bit weird thinking about her lately!!!!!!

Nope, all words failed her as she tried, and failed, to get back to her feet, sighing as her knees hit the cold surface once again. It wasn't the most ideal of situations and she'd been told to be careful during the research within these volatile lands, but even within these frozen woodlands, there was a beauty to the forest that Ilana simply couldn't ignore. She had to see more, had to explore - something about this place warmed her heart, despite the cold that seeped into her skin. What she hadn't intended though, was to upset anyone who lived here - and judging by the woman's skin tone, she wasn't human either. Was she one of those Harbinger's then? Ilana had heard such horror stories about those people, those who rivalled the strength of the Archons themselves - yet as the stranger paused a short distance away and such soft words were carried by the wind, Ilana could do nothing, other than to sit there and gaze up at this majestic woman, her heart racing deep within her chest, a fluttering within that she had never experienced before now. "...do you know me?". She'd asked the question before she'd had the chance to pause and think what she was saying. No one knew who she was - she'd lost her memories long ago, only recalling her days within one of the healing wards of Sumeru, before she'd eventually ended up at the Akademiya and began her studies.

"Oh, I'm sorry", with a little more effort - and a little help from a nearby branch, Ilana managed to finally find her feet once more, carefully stepping back onto solid ground with a sigh of relief that she couldn't quite hold back, "I was gathering a few samples. I'm a researcher from the Akademiya...I didn't mean to interrupt your...your dancing...it was magical...erm...sorry". Okay, now she needed to shut up, yet she found words just continued to slip from her lips, almost as though she was attempting to make up for lost time, "Your beautiful...", she whispered, cheeks turning bright red instantly, "Sorry! Erm...erm...". She'd be almost thankful if the ground opened up and swallowed her whole right about now.

👪 FAMILY - what is their family like? what is your ocs relationship to them? does your oc have any siblings? Salvadore was born a scion of a highly influential royal family, one of the most powerful houses in Absalom, son of Councilman Minuel Arrigo and Lady Eleanor Arrigo, offspring in a long line of perfectly bred heirs and his nature as a dhampir a stain on their immaculate reputation, a scandal to shade it forever. He survived his birth by a glint of mercy from Minuel, maybe the first and only he ever showed. Based on doubt if the newborn may be his despite its “abnormal nature”? Based on a rare moment of love for a helpless being? Based on fear of the one who either conceived the child or bit Eleanor during her pregnancy? He’ll take the secret to the grave. Of course, the child needed “correction” in his eyes (and in the opinion of Salvadore’s aunts and uncles, grandparents, and the whole rest as well). He was tortured in multi-faceted ways to suppress his vampiric abilities, features, and urges. - Intelligence, ruthlessness, and a certain conceit seem to be traits many members of the Arrigo house share. It’s a big family with many branches so I’m focusing on those who were most important in Salvadore’s life. ~ Minuel:

His father, Minuel Arrigo, is a strict man, cold, forceful but in a calm way, highly disciplined and many would describe him as intimidating. He gets what he wants and almost no one dares to openly disagree with him. Observers may notice that he and Salvadore have certain attributes in common and if Minuel would see it too, maybe he’d stop doubting that he’s his biological father. Fortunately, in some very important points, they strongly differ: Salvadore is much more passionate underneath the surface, much more merciful despite his own strict demeanor, much more smug, witty and playful with those he allows to see this side, much more progressive in his thoughts and ideas, much more tender and deeply loving with those important to him, much more caring and highly interested in goodness in general. Him and Minuel stepping into the same room always causes immediate tension. Now, with him as an adult, it often leads to sharp arguments. ~ Eleanor: Little Sal often tried – desperately so – to gain the attention of his distanced mother, just a flicker of her time and interest. He never succeeded. It was her garden with white roses she returned to. – The only beings worthy of her care, it seemed. It’s the reason Salvadore hates white roses. (Daeran caused him to love red ones at least.) Eleanor was forced to marry Salvadore’s father, always yearned for freedom instead, tried to escape a few times, and was harshly punished. Struggling with the children she never wanted, she still, in a very removed way, loved Salvadore and often was the one attempting to help him behind the scenes. In the end, it matters little to him because she never was able to truly show her affection and ultimately failed to truly step in to protect him, though more out of tragic reasons and helplessness than due to a cruel decision. She is the only member of his (biological) family Sal still feels love for as well, although he wouldn’t admit it and it’s shaded by bitterness and reproaches. Eleanor also actively caused his dhampir nature: She met a powerful vampire who seemed like her way out of her situation and wanted to flee with him and just leave everything behind. He, on the other hand, was more interested in the child she carried, since he had seen flickers of a future that could come to pass and a power he didn't understand. (An interesting thought: He probably caused this future himself. Salvadore would not have grown up into who he is without being a dhampir and maybe never attracted Areelu's interest.) So, the vampire’s ambitions weren’t directed at Eleanor herself and he never took her along either. Instead, he wanted the child to grow up among humans to later use Salvadore for his own purposes, form a connection, and strengthen his own power in Absalom. ~ Lisandro Salvadore had a brother who was two years older than him, Lisandro. Firstborn, beloved by his father, and heir to Minuel’s legacy, little Lisandro didn’t understand the need to share with this brother of his, this creature who was so different from him. From an early age, he started to terrorize Salvadore, played cruel and humiliating pranks on him, stole and destroyed his most cherished belongings, and sabotaged him wherever he could. Being two years younger than Lisandro and chastised into never using his “abnormal abilities”, Salvadore seemed physically inferior until one day he fought back. He almost killed his brother in the process, being overwhelmed by pain, rage, and the thirst for blood. The servants managed to separate the children in time to save Lisandro’s life. Salvadore’s punishment was harsh and cruel, another phase of the painful, humiliating “behavior therapy” to get rid of those “unnatural, disgusting desires” in him. Lisandro developed an even more ruthless streak over the years, but little of the cold and strategic perfectionism of his father. As mentioned before, if Minuel would have looked closer, he would have discovered those features in Salvadore instead. Lisandro became careless, bored by his duties, and choleric in nature. This last trait should lead to his demise, brought onto him by a scheme of Eneas: He made sure that Lisandro died and that Salvadore became the only legitimate heir to this part of the family’s power and fortune. Salvadore doesn’t know Lisandro’s death was a step in Eneas’ plan. Since he himself influenced things by keeping a secret he should have told, he believes the fault would be his and feels torn in a strange mixture of guilt and gratitude that things developed the way they did up to this day. ~ Hemera One of his aunts and her husband are very active in Absalom’s politics too, and their daughter Hemera, only slightly older than Salvadore, is intelligent, intrigant, and a cavalier like him. (Though she made sure he didn’t pass the final test.) She views him as her strongest rival in the battle for the family’s influence, it’s usually her when some kind of scheme against Salvadore happens. - Regarding Salvadore’s relationship with his family today:

He has problems keeping things civil during meetings. After the neglect, abuse, and torture he went through, he despises them all, except for his mother. A part of him hates her too, but another part still reflects the little boy who loved her and fought for her attention. No one in his family can touch him in his position as commander and no one of them would be nearly powerful enough to harm him in the state he reached, but they attempt to use his influence in their favor, pretending he owes them that much. Salvadore blocks those efforts but has to find compromises here and there because he still is interested in Absalom’s political situation. - ~ Eneas If someone asked Salvadore who his father is, he would say Eneas’ name instead of Minuel’s. He was his violin teacher since the age of five, his mentor, and the one who raised him more than his parents ever did. Among many useful ideas, knowledge, and abilities, Eneas taught him his codex, claiming that love is a dangerous weakness no one in a position of power can or should afford. At first, the boy was just part of one of his plans, eventually, he realized he had started to love him like a son, panicked, and fled. (Yes, he has a bunch of complicated issues too.) Salvadore was a teenager when it happened. Eneas only left him his violin. Still, Salvadore … forgave him. He loves him to this day for everything he taught him, did for him, and for taking care of a lonely child when no one else did. I always imagined Eneas showing up again in Salvadore’s life during the events of the game. With a (genuine) apology and, as always, a lot of schemes in his bag now that his son has gained those remarkable powers. 🙉 HEAR-NO-EVIL - what is the worse thing your oc could hear from someone? In general: That he’s an imposter, that his claim for rulership is illegitimate because he didn’t go through the hierarchic steps, or, even worse, the accusation that he caused the death of the queen in his own hunger for power. (Those things are so bad for him because a part of him secretly fears they may be true.) When he failed at something important: That he disappointed those he’s responsible for, or, that he gathered this power for selfish reasons only, potentially, if someone died, that he caused their death. (He will be the first one throwing those things at himself anyway though.)

From someone he loves dearly: That they only used him to achieve their goals or for protection, that they have no interest in him as a person anymore, that he bores them, that it all was only a game, that they found someone better than him and have no use anymore for him. 📎 PAPERCLIP - a random fact. Salvadore is lefthanded but taught himself to play his violin righthandedly too since he wanted to use the one Eneas left him and Eneas is righthanded.
