I’m just saying they have a perfect opportunity to have a ball with the promise of “unmasking” Lady Whistledown and doing a masquerade party and that’s when Benedict meets Sophie.
#bonus points for not knowing ANYTHING about her like Ben#then next season opens with a montage of Sophie leading up to that ball#bridgerton#benophie#benedict x sophie#bridgerton season three#crafting a narrative for a book I hate#this is Luke T’s fault for being likable#sorry if anyone has already pointed this out! I just think too much sitting on my couch

............maybe i should get in on this
the defenders did such a GREAT JOB and destroying the BS pedestal the iron fist show threw danny up on top of it was a D E L I G H T
like, a huge issue in iron fist was everyone taking danny’s role as the savior figure way too seriously. the show was trying to set him up as someone we’d like and respect, without giving him any likable/respectable qualities. he’s a spoiled brat frankly and even worse hes allowed to be because the writing rewarded that, the character didn’t grow and learn his faults at all, it as so. ugh
so anyway the defenders writers had to deal with that setup and i think they handled it really nicely because at first hes still a petulant spoiled brat, not very cool, punches stuff, whatever. and theres some character development in the first two episode but it really comes to a head in this scene, ep3, when he and luke have their first real conversation, and danny’s still just so conceited and luke wants to help him but he calls him out for being what he is, a privileged spoiled brat who hurts innocent people because he’s too self-centered to use his power in a responsible way (which i think makes luke one of the first to actually call danny out, and be treated seriously by the narrative)
and danny listens and he does try to use his social position to solve the problem and it was SO SATISFYING. his character doesn’t do a 180 he’s still pretty self-centered but he gets less ‘i’m cool and im gonna save the day’ and more ‘WE’RE cool and WE’RE gonna save the day’. plus there’s a lot more honest acknowledgement by people on his side that he’s doing a pretty crap job as the iron fist
(also, spoilers, but he spends a majority of the second half of the season either sidelined, tied up, or playing the damsel in distress, which was also very satisfying)
#rrrawrf#replies#i know you probably werent asking for a four paragraph metaanalysis#but this is what i went to college for#and i have LOTS OF THINGS I WANT TO SAY ABOUT THIS SHOW#i really like the potential of the iron fist character#and that first show was such a disappointment#but i think they finally wrangled him back into someone who'd be worth watching
