On a somewhat related note, that one Hollow Knight SI/OC fic makes us foam at the mouth because the one (1) time we tried to read it they got basic details of How Dreamcatchers Work wrong and we had to physically restrain ourself from typing out a heated comment into the comment box because even if people are horrifically wrong on the internet sometimes yelling at them does not make it better, and we do not want to end up being an asshole to people who likely just didn't know better.

#the POINT of the dreamcatcher is that the bad dreams get caught in the web since theyre too heavy to escape #and the good dreams fall down the feathers because theyre light enough that the web doesnt catch them #we learned this when we were an Actual Child. not to be rude but if you are going to centre your fic around something then just #PLEASE learn how it works #this is in the same category as “the important ones on the totem pole are on the bottom” btw #we try and refrain from being an asshole but sometimes the impulse is high #we are not actually confident in our knowledge enough to start an argument based on our Current Base Of Knowledge mind you #its been years since we've been somewhere where we could confirm our knowledge and be sure we aren't misremembering #but also we did not hang around watching people do woodcarving for hours on end to hear people be blatantly wrong #this has been mantis god hater hour. we will now quarantine our shitty thoughts & impulses back into The Hole #we speak #bitching
