Their interactions are absolutely priceless!

Damn, they are the reason why I am rewaching this drama.

And it is still giving me the same warm feeling inside as when I watched this drama for the first time.

Some people don't like the rude & abusive behaviour of general Chen, but I think you should just give this drama a try and see for yourself.

PS I have nothing against the young loyalist she’s fancying now - he’s earnest and nice - but I don’t find him in the least compelling so I am afraid I will continue to have no posts with him. I do think Moxi would eat him alive and he would be much better off hooking up with her sweet, elegant cousin.

It was because of the MV with the cute moments between Moxi and WJG that I started watching Gone With The Rain.

Now that I am rewatching the drama for the second time, I can't believe there was a time when I thought they would be the star couple of this drama.

Somehow I still love the cute moments between them at the beginning of the show and I think if WJG had been braver they would have actually been a good match.

I think Moxi was just looking for a young, beautiful, heroic and handsome boy to save her from the cruel Bai family. In my opinion, this is also why Moxi chose to stick to WJG and did not easily open her heart towards Chen Wende (and see who he really is).

What conditions did you discuss? To have my mother’s memorial tablet placed in the Bai family ancestral hall and to have my name recorded in the Bai family’s registry. You don’t seem like someone who cares about these things. I don’t care, but my mother did. My mother cared deeply about them. You can say I’ve fulfilled her wishes. What else? Why do you assume that I’ll definitely make many demands? Given your personality, you won’t settle with just those.

My girls, Moxi and Fengyao will always be the star of this show. A friendship like this is a treasure. They have been through so much together and even though they have different backgrounds, they seem like real sisters.

They are just too cute together :-)

I mainly post about shippy stuff because I am a shipper by nature, but I really do love that it’s the relationship between the cousins that is the linchpin of the narrative, and is much more present than any man for either of them.

I just can't get over this scene. I watch and rewatch this again & again. I really really really like the scenes between Moxi & Chen Wende. THE CHEMISTRY IN THIS SCENE IS A VIBE.

I wonder how the story could have unfolded if she had left the Bai family behind (I'm sorry Fengayo :-/ ) and just followed Chen Wende...

But also her reason for not going with him is HILARIOUS!!! He’s all “is it because I am scary?” “Nah, you only scare me because it’s boring to be with you.” (But that is why he is a good match!)

This is me again, stalking the world with my Gone With The Rain obsession.

This is life I guess.

(and my way to celebrate the evening after a long day at work).

I really really liked the first episode (about more which later) but the ending credits had me literally high pitched squealing at the screen!

Illegitimate daughter x general is clearly my personal weakness (see Minglan, Sword and Brocade) and looking at credits it seems she first likes some official boy but he marries and OTPs with her cousin and then she and Hot General become an item.

Did I mention how much I love love love that we have an actor who actually looks FUCKING OLD ENOUGH to be a general!!!!

Also, the way she first learns about him is when she finds out a Prime Minister’s fam wants to marry off a daughter but don’t want to make their actual daughter marry him - he is a former bandit (AAAAA IT’S LIKE ALL MY FAVE TROPES) and decides to spoil the process…

I about died when she imagined him:

Imagination versus reality, first time it’s ever been flipped.

You know, what’s truly awful? Her cousin’s mom is told by dad that this marriage looks good but is vvv dangerous (due to court power fights, it is a decent chance General will be declared a rebel, as he is by the end of the ep) and she is still for it, because that way PM will help her son. She is throwing away one kid to help the other.

It's so cute to see how worried Chen Wende is about the fact that Moxi fainted.

His concern about whether someone has bullied her, whether she is familiar with WJG and if he might have done something to her is really sweet to see ;)

This exchange is AMAZING!!!! Because he’s UPSET that she looks scared or worn down - he is upset she is not glaring at him, that she is dispirited. He fancies her at her fiercest, most scheming, he hates when she’s defeated. 

I don’t think she’s realized this, but CWD is someone who likes her for her true self - the sharp tongued, ruthless schemer, and he’s close to unique in this (BFY loves her unconditionally and more than any man, including CWD, does but I don’t think she truly gets Moxi because they are very different, she and CWD as similar as hell.) 

He doesn’t think she should be fixed or behave better or w/e, the way well-meaning WJG does (I get the sense if those two ever got together, the moment the blush of initial infatuation faded, they would come to loathe each other.) He is not a scholar big on traditions, an ill match for unconventional and barely literate Moxi. He does not prefer for her to be more ladylike. He’s a former bandit leader and even if he’s a fancy general now, what he clearly sees in her is an awesome potential bandit wife. I think it may do with the fact that he’s clearly not upper class at his core (being a bandit leader he clearly didn’t come from the aristocracy) and neither is she (whatever her blood may be, and by the canons of the place it ain’t great, she did not get brought up as a lady.)  

Oh, and he’s totally jealous as hell:

I love how he jumps to the absolutely wrong conclusion because while WJG and BFY may see her as more idealized than she is, CWD thinks of her as more ruthless than she is, or more importantly, underestimates her bond with BFY. It’s pretty clear that whatever man Moxi may or may not end up with, her strongest bond will be with her cousin.

But seriously, the fact that she fainted on a public street because of mourning Wet Blanket, and he caught her and took her to an inn (though he’s a wanted man sneaking in to get info on his enemies) is AAAA-worthy (and the fact he was there to catch her indicates he really was following her around.)

I am, of course, biased by the fact that I not only find Chen Wende vastly more interesting as a character than WJG but also much more attractive, but girl girl girl, my late grandmother told me you should marry someone who loves you more than you love them, and you can only get this with one man in this drama! Don’t let a good general go to waste, please.
