The way my sheer EXCITEMENT for every new FFVII: Rebirth thing is quickly soured by how badly I cringe at the new English voice cast. Part of it is about how they sound, which is middling to bad, but there's something even more crucial missing from all their performances and that's personality.
Hearing Tyler Hoechlin strain to hit the register George Newbern could've nailed effortlessly, to the point where it sounds like he's just listlessly reading Sephiroth's lines, is painful. George's performance had levels, so much arrogance and suggestiveness, vulnerability and authority. Tyler just sounds like he's desperately trying to imitate George and failing, which tells me they should've just hired George.
Tifa's and Aerith's VAs make them sound like nails-on-a-chalkboard anime girls instead of the grown-ass women they are. I watched in real time as Aerith's Advent Children VA turned one of my best friends gay and the remake VA turned her right back straight again lol
Do I even need to mention Zack's VA and how awful he's doing? Rick Gomez, I'm so sorry. You made so many people love Zack and be moved by his story when they were convinced they would hate Zack because he wasn't Cloud. You should've been allowed to keep telling his story.
Trading Wally Wingert as Rufus for whoever is attempting it now is a personal blow I'll never get over. Throwing the range of the Riddler right into the garbage, smh smh.
The fact that they have to put extra bass behind Rude's VA when Crispin Freeman is still accepting work, like c'mon.
Reno used to drip sex thanks to Quinton Flynn, but I literally could not get up that tower fast enough to shut up his new whiny little bitch ass voice.
Losing Steve Blum to some dude who makes Vincent sound indistinguishable from Sephiroth is par for the course by now, but I'll mourn it forever anyway.
Cloud's new VA is probably the only one I can stand, but tbh, anything he can do, Steve Burton could've also done, sorry.
Fact is, this was almost a perfect project, and I will FOREVER have it out for the clown at Square Enix USA who made the decision to not even TALK to the legacy cast and brought in a bunch of television actors who don't have the chops for voice acting work. I don't know if that person is the same as the Voice Director, but omg, they need help with their job, too, if not. Honestly, fuck all the new "VA's," too. They knew whose work they were stealing. I'm done giving them a pass if they can't even make me believe their performances nearly three games deep. "PERSONALLY I like the new VA's better—" This post is not for you. This post is for me to bitch, but just in case: They suck. They replaced talented voice actors who already knew and embodied these characters and who didn't suck because they know how to voice act and not just read lines. Next.

The SOLDIER and The Baker || Cloud Strife || Pt5
Part 1 || Part 2. || Part 3 || Part 4.
Winning Choice:
A: the reader is off with Cloud, Tiffa and Barret, and the reader now know’s what they are thanks to Chocobo Sam telling them. {{ was thinking the readers knew him before she meet Reeves }}.
and the reader stops the fight between Cloud and Reno due to the readers Carbuncle biting Reno before he can drop the plate then offers herself and with the President watching Reno and Rude so she ends up going along with the two.
I can see this is where the Reader actually kisses him before she leads with Reno and Rude.
Which leads to them not dropping since the reader threatened to throw herself from the chopper if they did anything.
Thank you everyone who voted and helped me out!!!
And again here is the readers dress.

The Honey Bee Inn...the last place that Cloud wanted to be right now. With you and Aerith talking to each other he felt out of place. It wasn’t until he was shoved into a room that it finally dawned on him. They wanted him to dance, he wanted to protest oh god did he want to protest but he couldn’t not when it meant that he was so close in saving Tifa.
“This is ridiculous.” Biting back another comment he flinched as three girls entered the room.
“It’s okay to be nervous Cloud.” Giving him a kind smile you squeezed his hand gently before stepping back. “Though me and Aerith are gonna give you some space okay! so you can practice with out us watching.” Grasping your friends hand, you tugged the woman out before she could protest.
Letting out the breath he didn’t notice he was holding in, Cloud made a mental note to thank you. The man would rather not make an idiot out of himself in front of you.
Dropping his shoulders he then cleared out his throat looking at the young woman in determination. “Lets get this over with.”
Tumblr media
“I’m worried about Cloud...we haven’t had the chance to see him.” Slumping into the seat. Laughing, Aerith gave you a teasing smile as she placed her hands on her lap.
“It’s cute how you’re worried about him y/n! but I’m sure he’s fine.” she states leaning over to pet your Carbuncle.
Feeling your cheeks burned you weren’t sure what to say to that, she wasn’t wrong. “He’s done so much for us...I.”Then thats when it happened, honestly it was so fast you were trying to get your eyes to adjust to the scene. Lights were flashing, Aerith seemed happy as she laughed and clapped along to the music.
Then you saw him, Cloud was dancing, you could feel your own smile tug at your lips. Laughing softly you clapped along with your friend as your cheered for the man but it wasn’t long till the dancers covered the tall blonde and once they stepped back you couldn’t believe your eyes.
It was like they replaced Cloud, the dark dress the man managed to pick out really brought out his skin tone and it was hard not to like what he did to his hair. Beaming at Cloud who did not look pleased at all you did your best to make him feel a little better.
“Woowho!!! Bravo!!”
Dropping his shoulders, Cloud tried not to scowl as he saw your smile. “Kill me.”
Tumblr media
“You’re doing a good thing Cloud and I really can’t wait to meet your friend.” Clutching the edge of your dress, Aerith let out her own laugh nudge Cloud’s side.
“He’s a big softy that doesn’t want to admit it.”
Letting out an annoyed grunt, Cloud stayed silent though he tensed once they reached the mansion. He quickly snatched your wrist tugging you back as one of the men eyed you. Biting your lip, you sighed then gave him a smile you really did not here what the two goons said to you as the Carbuncle in your arms growled at the men.
“You three here for the audition? Second floor at the very end of the walk. And don’t go pokin’ your nose where it doesn’t belong.”
You did your best to keep the smile on your face though you hated the things that they were saying about you, it made your stomach churn.
“That Sam’s girl? I’d let her do things to me.”
Scowling you dug your nails into your palm as you slowly made your way up the stairs. Walking to the room, the lights seemed to make your dress sparkle more and Cloud found himself finding it hard not to look too. “Ignore them, if I wasn’t....well I’d beat the crap out of them.” he muttered opening the door for you and Aerith.
Tensing, you glanced around the room. It did not look like a place where you were supposed to be but that’s when it happened. The doors slammed shut and it did not take long for a sweet scent to fill the room.
“What’s that smell?”
Stepping forward Aerith wrinkled her nose. “I know it’s weird...and sweet....and why do I feel dizzy?”
“Gas...come on.” Walking towards the door Cloud tried to open them though they wouldn’t budge. “Shit.”
Falling to her knees Aerith started to cough as the pink cloud filled the room though taking a few steps forward yourself you started to fall before Cloud quickly caught you in his arms.
“Hey! y/n! Wake up...keep your eyes open.”
“Cloud?”
He could hear Aerith’s worried voice though he was to focused on you, he wanted to know why this gas was effecting you so much.
His mind started to fog, he vaguely remembered the doors opening and those two lackeys saying something but that didn’t matter to him, that dazed look in your eyes scared him, though everything went dark after that.
Cloud awoke to Tifa standing over him in concern, he could feel relief wash over him though once the young woman figured that she wasn’t talking to an actual woman he quickly stood up dusting the dress off.
“Right...nailed it...moving on.”
“Cloud...I think...that stuff really hit y/n hard.” Turning his attention to Aerith he did his best to rush to where you and Aerith were standing though he wouldn’t call it that.
Your eyes were still glossy, lips parted and it looked like you were about to pass out. “Lets hope being out of that gas helps her.” He was concerned for you, that moment you two shared, it was something that he’d rather not forget.
“C-Cloud I’m okay....please don’t fuss over me.” your voice was a whisper, he hated that.
Shaking her head, Aerith watched the two. While she was happy that you were being taken care of she knew that this shouldn’t have happened in the first place.Blinking she then turned her attention to Tifa, giving the woman a wide smile. “Hi Tifa! how are you doing?”
“Good?” Tifa tipped her head to the side.
“Ahh perfect! we came here to rescue you I’m Aerith and thats y/n! we’re a friend of Clouds!” Beaming she then grasped Tifas hand.
“Thanks?” Tifa smiled shaking her head as she gave the womans hand a small squeeze.
“Cut the chatter. We gotta leave.” Cloud kept you close to his side, stumbling a bit your fingers clutched the fabric of his dress.
“No...not until I got what I came for.” Seeing the confused looks Tifa then sighed dropping her shoulders, her hand slipping from Aeriths. “So after we made it back from the slums, some guy came around asking all kinds of questions. So I did some digging.”
“And found out they’re Corneo‘s men.”
“Right.”
“They were interested in Avalanche...but I couldn’t figure out why.So I thought I’d come and ask the man himself.”
“Seriously!”
Thought that if I could find a way in and get some one on one time-”
You were trying hard to focus on the conversation though it was hard. Images of your mother started to flash in your mind. Her smile, then your fathers face appeared, his gentle voice calming you. Though you must have spaced out longer than you thought because the next thing you knew was that you were standing in a completely different room with the man you knew must be Corneo staring at you.
“Aren’t you a pretty face...you look awfully familiar”  You wanted to jerk your face away when he touched you. “But which one do I pick?” You hated that look in his eye.
“If you pick me, you get me too.”
That made Corneo all to happy, ignoring his squeal you watched as Tifa and Aerith get escorted out.
Wincing, you sat on the edge of the bed. Cloud staying close to your side and just about as he was going to touch your bare shoulder Cloud quickly snatched his wrist. “Don’t you touch her...you sick deprived bastard.”
“Yes...yes I am...Here I come baby!?”
Quickly scrambling off the bed you watched as Cloud kicked him back on it. The man scowling as he glared at both of you. “Who the hell gave you permission to do that! One of you get in here and teach this bitch some manners”
With the door flying open, you dug your nails into your palm expecting a fight though your body relaxed once you saw who it was. “Tifa! Aerith!”
“Sorry...it looked like your boys had to learn some manners too.”
“Cloud! y/n! your clothes.” Aerith smiled clutching a bag, it did not take long for Cloud though obstructing Corneo’s view of you. You did your best to put your normal clothes back on, happy to have your staff back in your hand.
“So you’re a man huh! what are you four up too!” Corneo scouted to the edge of the bed.
“We’re going to be the one to ask the questions!” You snapped, glaring at him.
Tifa gave him a firm nod as she stepped forward. “Like: why’d did you have in in Sector 7 asking about Avalanche?”
“Huh? don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Growling, your fingers tightened around the staff. The once hazy feeling that clouded your mind gone. “Stop lying! If I find out another lie spilling from your mouth I will repeatedly slam my stave over your balls over and over until you’re rendered unconscious.”
Taking a step forward you could have sworn a whimper escaped his lips as he slipped further back on the bed. “Alright! I’ll talk! I’ll talk....some guy with a gun for an arm...I was paid to find him.”
“Paid by who?” Tifa asked, she was now standing by your side.
“I can’t tell you! they’ll hunt me down like a dog!”
“Well you better talk!” You state as Aerith then stepped forward smirking. “Cause if you don’t”
“I’ll rip em off.”
“It was the director of public security! Heidegger! It was Heidegger!“
“Shinra?!” Tifa gasped. “What are they planning?”
Shinra? Rufus?....you needed to know more. You had to find out what your childhood friend was doing.
“Some things are better left unsaid..ya know.”
Gritting your teeth you slammed your stave down on the bed making him jump. “Shut up! Shut the fuck up and talk!”
“You better listen to her...or I’ll smash them off.” Tifa stated slamming her boot on the bed.
“Heh. Alright, you got me. I could never say no to a sexy girl.” He went to reach for your chin then pulled his hand back.”Since Avalance blew up two reactors, Shinra's decided they ought to stamp them out, home base and all...And I mean “Stamp out” he slammed his hands together. “By targeting the support pillar and blowing it up.”
Gasping you stepped back, that was going to get so many people killed. “The plate...they are going to make the plate fall...it’s going to be Sector 6 all over again....we have to go!”
Just as you, Cloud, Aerith and Tifa were leaving Corneo let out a laugh. “Please! this won’t take long. As everyone knows, villains only divulge their plans in a certain situation and what is that situation?”
Cloud scowled, narrowing his eyes at the man who seemed all to happy at the moment. Just as he was about to answer, Corneo let out another laugh raising his finger. “OH sorry! times up...the answer lies....in the sewers.”
Then soon you felt a weightlessness, then nothing.
Tumblr media
Reeve could feel his stomach clench, knowing that this was happening. He hated this. “Please, Mr. President! I am asking you to reconsider-no, begging. The Sector 7 undercity is home to more than 50,000-”
“Director Tuesti” President Shinra started off though Reeve’s cut him off, the man was already feeling helpless.
“At least let us issue a warning Sir.”
"The stench of the director's cowardice fills the room yet again."Heidegger scoffed turning his head away.
“Reeve...progress requires sacrifice.”
Reeve’s wanted to scoff at that, sacrifice. What the hell did he know about sacrifice? He wasn’t the one who gave up being with the woman he loved, his soulmate and his little girl...does she even remember him?
“Learn to live with it”
Digging his nails into his palms he turned his focus to the ground, he had to find a way to stop this.

[So I just got inspired by a conversation I had with @silver-wield about this Cloud&Tifa video below I blogged 2 days ago already, how deep Cloti's connection really is displayed, and how watching it made me feel even more convinced that we totally get endgame feels for them in these various scenes comprised. The video just shows canon material and uses only original dialogue. It made me wonder if the same feelings would be evoked by a video of Cloud and Aeriths Scenes and dialogues.]
Besides English isn't my first language, please overlook grammar and spelling mistakes. I'm sorry it there are too many.
There are many opinions who belongs with whom.
Many people who covered this also and I love and respect most of their analyses on it. Not even sure if I added anything new but here are my thoughts on Clerith endgame qualities (& a bit Cloti).
I like Aerith and she is very important. I just don’t see her as the intended endgame partner for Cloud.
This is all an opinion in the end:
Don't get me wrong this relationship is heavy with feelings as well. But it's no endgame. Cloud and Tifa belong; for various reasons we all discuss daily ;). Clearith's core story is heartwarming and heartbreaking all at once. For me it's a tragic relationship on both sides.
Aerith sees a familiarity in Cloud, something reminding her of, & letting her hope for better days. She sees a strong person who resembles Zack so much. He is handsome and his eyes have the same quality.
She desperately wants to belong (like all of our 3 heroes) because she was alone most of her time. Zack was her first love and a friend. But he is gone. She is heartbroken. Even though she is beloved in the slums by many and has Elmyra, she still feels alone. Zack was someone she confided in. She can't tell anyone the extend of these feelings. Not in the beginning. Always trying to cover up with that flirty cheery attitude. She wants to move on...that much she has uttered to Cloud...but saying and going through such a loss actually are two different things. In OG it was more ambiguous and Aerith was much more determined on Cloud.
Remake gives us (or me)much more clarity. She seems to be aware that it all is flawed..her feelings ..his feelings. (I suppose she even was able to feel that something happened to Zack since she has a connection to the life stream. And it is heartbreaking.) While in OG that was not prominent. You can tell how much she likes Cloud still in the Remake ...but also how much she knows she doesn't belong with him. When she sees the flower in Tifa's Bar, when she sees Cloud and Tifa interact.. when she asks Cloud about Zack indirectly.
Clerith to me is like 'could have/ would have' all the time. If she wouldn't die. If Zack was still alive.. if Cloud actually would be able to connect the dots of Zack being her first love.. if Cloud regaining a glimpse of his past wasn't blocked by the barrier of his fake persona so often, always interrupting progress of remembering Zack, of remembering what happened. Would it be Clerith?
It more seems like in the Remake she is aware now (due to parallel time lines/timetravel...whatever) that her part in this story is not that of Clouds love interest. That's why we get that resolution scene with her. It is scripted that way for a reason. As well as the part where she spots the flower or tells Tifa to follow her heart at the pillar.
Maybe there is a wish in her to be with Cloud if only the circumstances were different. But they aren't and she is no egotistical monster bitch. She kind of backs away. And I love that the devs made me lean to believe this.
Cloud on the other hand also lacks/ misses out on many things:
5 years of his live, his home his family. He lived through torture if barely and severe trauma. He put up a fake persona to shield him from all this grief. He made himself that numb, that he rarely connects to any strong feelings a person would have usually.
Like people on anti depressants. Numb to the very high and the very low array. Just being indifferent. We meet him like that in the beginning of OG/R. When he meets Aerith in chapter 8 he already started to open up a bit to the Trio and Tifa, Marle and others. Meeting Tifa opened the Door. She is essentially his drive to move on ever since their childhood, same this time. But Tifa is more subtle in her approach. Her personality is warm and grounded, but she respects that Clouds needs space and is treading lightly, cautious because she seems to feel he is different than in their childhood. We get that in the rescue Johnny scene f.ex..
Aerith's overwhelmingly positive, coaxing personality contrasts this but also opens this crack in the door even wider. Like I said she is important. He is affected, he feels drawn to it/her.I am convinced he is, because he has no association with her. No past. It is light and bright and also not real. She, trying to overcompansate her sadness. Him, rarely being able to connect to his true self and feelings. He is unaware, she is though to a certain extend (like I mentioned above ) is aware.
His attraction also is spurred on because she is more fragile (Than Tifa and others)..he wants to protect. He is loyal. He wants to be strong and he wants to be acknowledged. Aerith asks for help, is clumsy and looks even helpless sometimes( Walk from the church over the roof tops f. ex.). I don’t say she is weak but her asking for help, he feels like he really is that persona he created for himself. And such feelings can turn into love quite easily. But these feelings to be as good as a Soldier 1st class, to protect and be the hero root in his true self's desire to be all that for Tifa. We can’t discard this either. He also helps Avalanche because Tifa asked.
So again..a pinch of could have/would have..it's heartbreaking.
And in the end it's a dead end for Clerith. Not only because she dies. But because he regains access to his true feelings again (lifestream scene)..and they are with Tifa.
Man~even while he has no access to them he is like a hen around its chick with Tifa.😊 Touching, watching, eye contact all the time (just watch this posts video below).
If anything, Aeriths death brought him further away from being with Tifa completely because he feels he failed yet another important person. A person he even might have loved because she was a friend. He hates this feeling and he blames himself for all the deaths, especially Aerith's. And he is so afraid to lose Tifa like that as well. That's why he keeps his distance later especially in Advent Children. Even though we have the Night under the High Wind.
Because if losing a person like Aerith, yes all lovely and sweet and bright and a friend, but if losing a person after several weeks, can do that to him, what would Tifas death do to him?
He doesn't want her, Marlene or Denzel to suffer if she sees that he has a supposedly terminal disease.
He doesn't trust himself to be really enough for her. He can't face her and leaves and has another episode of self isolation and self doubt. In his mind (?) he talks to Aerith ( and Zack is there as well, yaay) he seeks for forgiveness until he realizes he has to forgive himself first. Aerith and Zack reunited in the life stream, his friends, like his big brother and sister or like guardians watching over him, encouraging him as well to trust in himself the future and his loved ones. He sure loves Aerith, but it feels like a different kind of love from his love for Tifa. And this is fine. I would never say he doesn’t love Aerith. But it’s not in a romantic way. Maybe there was an attraction building when they met in sector 5, a curiosity. But for me his bond with Tifa overpowered this in various scenes before and after that section.
So Cloud leaves, nearly ghosting his family and Tifa, and as a fan of Cloti that was hard to watch, but seeing his reasons I came to accept and understand that he needed this.BIn the end yet again their bond is strong enough for pulling them back together again. He goes to stand with Tifa, his family his friends.
In the End Tifa welcomes him back and he finally starts to believe things will be better.
So for me there is no gravitational romantic pull between Aerith and Cloud but between Tifa and him.
This is a bit all over the place and I didn’t put in sources to prove my points because many others here in the fandom did in their analyses. I took a bit of additional intel from everyone's impressions and my own conclusions on the canon.
I just wanted to give my impression.

I’m a die hard Clerith shipper since 1997, you can’t change my mind but the one thing I won’t tolerate in FFVII aside from shipping wars, is anyone shitting on Tifa.
Don’t. You can like Clerith without hating Tifa. You can find other reasons to not to like Tifa as character, that isn’t “I don’t like her because she gets in the way of my ship”
Personally, Tifa isn’t one of my top tier FF characters, but I am not going to ignore how much of a badass and important person Tifa is to Cloud’s story.
People cite Aerith’s death and burial as the most important moment of FFVII, and yes it’s heartbreaking and an iconic scene. But you know what’s also an important scene?
Tifa in the lifestream with Cloud setting his memories straight. Tifa who up until this moment unbeknownst to the player, is aware that Cloud as he’s presented himself thus far *isnt* the Cloud he thinks he is. She’s been patiently going along with Cloud’s story trying to figure out *what happened* to him/ how he appeared in Midgar boasting of being a SOLDIER while clearly suffering from Mako poisoning/how will she ultimately break this story to him.
Think how hard it was for her to watch Cloud have ptsd episodes and not know how to ground him other than to say “it’s okay. Pull yourself together, let’s keep moving”, because she doesn’t know how or why Cloud is suffering.
But then they fall into the Lifestream together and Tifa helps Cloud sift through the memories warped and altered by the poisoning and Cloud’s severe PTSD.
Only Tifa could help Cloud here- she’s the only one on the Team who has known Cloud since they were young/understands Cloud’s motivations for wanting to become stronger in joining SOLDIER.
This part of the game is beautiful and emotional, and very ahead of it’s time in its portrayal and meta-discussion of PTSD; Cloud isn’t magically healed and back to normal, he never will be, be he’s reclaimed his identity enough that he can begin to heal. I’m replaying the original atm and the moment still holds and I’m hoping that the remake nails this moment. It’s as important and impactful to Cloud as a character as Aerith’s death.
Speaking of Aerith.  Aerith and Tifa become friends from the jump.  Aerith is so respectful of Tifa that twice she makes sure that she isn’t encroaching on Cloud and Tifa’s relationship. She asks Cloud if Tifa is his girlfriend, she reassures Tifa in Don Cornero’s Mansion that she’s not there to steal Cloud from her.
And yeah, Aerith isn’t trying to steal Cloud or anything - she helped a cute buff guy recover from a fall, asked him for an escort because this time the Turks brought backup to capture her, and got swept up in the ensuing events.
Hell, Aerith is ride or die for Tifa BEFORE THEY EVEN FORMALLY MEET EACH OTHER. Aerith sees Tifa being carted off to Wall Market and her “some bad shit’s about to happen to this woman if we don’t move NOW” senses go off.
Cloud’s like “oh let me take you home first and I’ll get my teammates...” and Aerith’s like “YOU NAIVE FOOL? DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT HAPPENS TO CUTE GIRLS IN WALL MARKET? (tbh, considering how naive Cloud can be, I am going with ‘nope’.) WE GOTTA GO! QUICK GET INTO THIS SEXY DRESS BECAUSE MR. SOLDIER YOU’RE NOT COMING UP WITH A BETTER PLAN WE CAN WORK WITH!!” Aerith drives the entire plan to get into the Don’s mansion. She negotiates the dress, the wig, the makeup, EVERYTHING, to make sure that Cloud can pass as a women to come into the Mansion with her.
Heck, Aerith was going to go into the mansion HERSELF to get Tifa when the guard was like “No dudes allowed.” The only reason they went looking for dresses in Cloud’s size, was because Cloud got all “No, I can’t let you go in there a lone if it’s as bad as you think it is”, (as if he hadn’t just spent the last day with this woman watching her completely kick ass in battle). So Aerith was like, “Fine, you wanna come with me? Get in the Silk Dress, Cloud” with the same energy as Shinji’s Dad.
And when Aerith gets captured, Tifa was like “WE GOTTA GO AND SAVE HER FROM SHINRA!” as well as protecting Aerith through the whole ShinRa office building mission when the groups had to split up.  So yeah, these two queens love and respect each other from the get-go, they put Cloud in his place, tease the shit out of him and Barret, probably had hair-braiding trains at camp, and support the hell out of each other .
Also, as we see from the rest of FFVII and in AC, Tifa is devastated by her friend’s death and continues to grieve with Cloud.  Tifa is emotionally intelligent enough to see that Cloud’s grief and guilt over Aerith’s death is killing him, but also respects his need for space.  However, when she finds that he has Geostigma and has staying away from everyone so he can just waste away and die as some sort of penance for not being able to save Aerith and zack, she get’s PISSED at him. Tifa is instrumental in bringing Cloud back (again) to his senses.  Making him see, that he doesn’t only belong to himself, he belongs to their family, just as much as they belong to him. The love and fierce protection Cloud has for his family?  They have that for him and believe he’s more than worthy of that love. Tifa takes none of Cloud’s mopey and self-loathing bs, and sets him straight.
So if you think Tifa is only there for fan-service, an annoying bitch who is there to be jealous of Aerith, is there just to make a love triangle so SE can pander to fans on both sides, you clearly
a) didn’t play the games b) missed one of the best female relationships and examples of women supporting women in gaming c) missed how equally important both Aerith and Tifa are to Cloud in their own ways
IMO I see her and Cloud as platonic soulmates- kinda like Black Widow and Hawkeye- they have history, they have shared trauma from their childhoods and in the destruction of Nibelheim, they know what it’s like to grow up in a poor country town that’s been exploited by Shinra on so many levels from the natural resources to it’s culture of military indoctrination and idealization.
Yes, there was an innocent first love, but after certain events, to me- it’s moved beyond romantic attraction between them. They’re always going to be important to each other and in each other's lives.
Their innocent first love to me, mirrors Zack and Aerith’s, but Aerith moved on and fell in love with Cloud. Yes, Cloud reminded her of Zack, she probably wanted to remain close to Cloud to get closure on what exactly happened to him.
People often forget, Aerith *knows* Zack’s died and returned to the Lifestream in the way that she knew her adoptive mother’s husband had died before word reached them. When she has her awkward moment in Gongaga it’s not because she’s now realizing that he’s dead, she’s now realizing that these are Zack’s parents and they still don’t know what became of their son. Zack was scrambled into Cloud’s memories due to trauma and because Zack was someone Cloud looked up and was his ideal, combined with the fact that Zack was the only person talking to Cloud for 9 months as Zack carried his catatonic self back to Midgar. But Cloud didn’t *become* Zack, only Zack’s plans of becoming a mercenary and being a former SOLDIER were impressed upon him. If Cloud actually became Zack he would have been chipper, this energetic “I’m a hero!” all around good-guy hero Zack made himself out to be. The Cloud we first meet...isn’t- yes he thinks he’s a former SOLDIER turned merc, but he’s sardonic, arrogant, and too much of “tough guy/lone wolf”...he’s more like his child-like self who was made to feel like an outsider and wants to showoff how much cooler and stronger he’s become.  He didn’t find Aerith because Zack was some how possessing him.  Aerith and Cloud meeting was destiny, and their subsequent relationship is independent of their past histories with Zack. And if Aerith is interested in Cloud because she reminds him of Zack - well...the woman is allowed to have a type.
I digress.
Cloud was in love with Tifa in that - “hey! notice me! If I go off an become this awesome guy, I’ll be worthy of your attention” sort of way, that teens get.  He was a lonely kid, often bullied by the other children in the village (Tifa included), and probably didn’t know *why* he wanted Tifa’s attention- it was most likely Tifa had the most social capital among the kids. And despite her hot/cold treatment of him,Cloud who was desperate to prove himself, figured that if he somehow “won” Tifa’s attention, it would “show them”.  I am not saying that Cloud was using Tifa or didn’t care about her- he does love her. He blamed himself for not being strong enough to save her when she tried climb Mt. Nibel.  But you can’t ignore that his thirst to prove himself wasn’t wrapped up in his crush.  It’s your typical “become a hero, get the girl” idealization.  Cloud was 14 when he left Nibelheim for Shinra’s military. He was a child, just like Tifa, with a naive idea about how the world worked- and the world slapped them both in the face, HARD.  Relationships mature and change over time. Outside forces can and will shift your dynamics in how your relate to the people you love.  Sometimes your first crush, becomes one of your very best friends (happened to me personally so maybe this informs my take on Cloud and Tifa) because when you’re young you don’t understand that loving someone, outside of your nuclear family, isn’t only constrained to romance. This is what I believe happened to them. Cloud and Tifa had the quintessential school yard crush, and when they were reunited years later in Midgar, they still care deeply for each other in a different way than they did when they were 14 and 13.
But those are MY feelings, it’s how I play the game’s attraction mechanics; I am afforded to shape Cloud’s relationships as I, the gamer, see fit. I understand why Cloti shippers ship Cloud and Tifa, and they’re just as valid as Clerith, Zarith, Clack, etc.. but I’m a sucker for M/F platonic soulmates because there needs to be MORE of that in media. I rather Cloud and Tifa be platonic soul mates, co-parenting Marlene and Denzel with Barret, than Cloud “settling for Tifa because Aerith died”. which that explanation for Cloud x Tifa, often used by Clerith shippers, just undermines who Tifa is as a character and her’s and Cloud’s relationship.
But anyway, even though I don’t ship them and Tifa is not my #1 girl for VII, she is a vital character. She’s not there for fan-service.  She’s not there exclusively for a love triangle and to cause tension between Aerith and Cloud.  Tifa is VITAL to Cloud’s story, to the story of VII, to the planet of Gaia. You wouldn’t have VII’s core story without Tifa. And I will go to the mat for her just as hard as Aerith did when she saw Tifa in the cart bound for Wall Market.
So again: you may not ship her with Cloud, or she may not be your fave in VII, but in this house we forever respect the badass queen whose name is Tifa Lockhart

The second part of Kingdom Hearts school AU I posted earlier today. word count: 5123 (told you it was long. over 9000 for all of it)
Roxas stared outside of the bus window. He sat alone in one of the seats and had a pair of headphones on his ears. His mind wandered slightly as he listened to his music. He thought about the friends he had to leave behind when his parents made him move. They moved a few weeks after his freshman year ended so he didn't have long to hang out with his friends before he left. He missed them. Just then someone caught his eye. Namine was walking home. He watched her until the bus passed by her and she was out of his sight. He assumed she lived close to the school. He thought back to when he was talking to her in their fifth hour class. Namine was also a Sophomore and they shared two classes together. They had Math and History... and to his disappointment, so did Sora. No, it's not that hated Sora. 'How can someone be so cheerful all the time..?' Roxas caught himself wondering. '... And he always chases after me after our math class. He bothers me constantly and butts into conversations I'm having with people...' He sighed.  “What is with him...” he muttered under his breath. He remembered snapping at him at the end of their History class, and the headache he ended up with afterwards. Sora had looked like he was in a daze as they were leaving the class. Looking back on it now, Roxas guessed that no one had ever blown up in his face like that. He shrugged it off as the sixth song on his mp3 player ended. He was almost home.
When Roxas saw his house come into view he hit pause on his player. When the bus came to a stop, Roxas got up and left the bus without a word. He reached into his pocket and removed the key to get inside. He heard the bus leave as he unlocked the door and headed in. No one was home; and no one would be home for about forty-five minutes. Roxas knew this and that made him hate his situation even more.
As he stepped into his room, he carelessly dumped his book-bag on his bed before he changed out of his school uniform. Then dropping down to the floor, Roxas reached under his bed and pulled out his skateboard. He headed back outside, locking the door behind him, and hit play on his mp3 player.
“I'm home...” Namine called softly, with a hint of sadness. Turning, she closed and locked the door behind her. Taking off her shoes, she placed them neatly on the shoe-rack across from the door. As she sat down on the edge of her bed, she glanced around her room. Across from the bed, and next to the shoe-rack, sat a small fridge-freezer, a small sink, a stove top, an empty counter-top and finally a small stacked washer and dryer. All in that exact order with little to no space between each item. Taking a deep breath and wiping at her eyes, she got up. Walking over to her desk, which was against one of the adjacent walls, she sat down to begin her homework.
Riku walked into Cloud XIII. It was the usual hang out spot, especially for people his age. That and birthday parties. However, he wasn't here to hang out. “You're late.” He turned around. There stood Tifa, manager and owner of Cloud XIII.
“Sorry. I had to help a class-mate.”
Tifa smiled. “That's good to know.” She patted him on the shoulder as she started to walk off.
Riku sighed softly and walked into the back room; only employees were allowed to go back there. “Hiya, Riku!” a girl called out. It caught Riku off guard when she jumped on his back. He jerked forward slightly, and she clung onto him, which threw him off balance even more and made him fall backward. She cried out surprised when he started to fall back and let go of him and fell on her butt, while Riku brought his hands back trying to brace himself, and hoped he wouldn't land on her. “Owie... that hurt... You're supposed to have better balance than that,” she whined.
“I would have if I knew you were going to do that,” Riku muttered. “Don't you know you shouldn't attack people like that?” he questioned the blonde girl as he went to get up.
“I didn't attack you,” she said with a pout.
They heard someone giggle and turned to look. There stood two girls. The one that was giggling had beads in her brown hair. The other girl had grayish-brown hair and had her arms crossed. “You know, Rikku, you probably just lost some respect points from him.”
The blonde girls' eyes widened. Quickly, she turned to Riku. “Oh no! I didn't did I?”
Riku brought his hand to his head. He didn't care about respect points he just wanted to get to work then go home and get his homework done. He sighed when he realized that he'll be up late completing all his work. “All right everyone, it's time to get back to work.” The group turned to see Tifa.
“Yes, ma'am,” the girl with the beads in her hair said with a slight bow. Her and the other brown haired girl started to head out of the room.
Rikku quickly jumped to her feet and hurried after them. “Yunie, Paine; what should I do? I think I lost some major respect points from Riku.” Riku could hear her saying to her two friends.
Tifa turned to Riku. “Is something the matter? You look troubled.”
“Oh? No, it's nothing. I'll go ahead and get started.” With that said he took his leave and got to work.
“Argh! It's official. I am so banning you from entering the kitchen!” Zoe exclaimed.
“What the hell? The foods fine, what are you bitching about?” Axel questioned her annoyed.
Zoe directed her hand towards the counter. “It's a total mess! Can't you do anything without messing it up or making a mess?!”
He frowned. “So, what, you're calling me a screw up?” He turned his attention away from the food.
Zoe was taken back by his statement. “I-I didn't mean it like that. I was just ...”
“Don't worry about it,” he muttered as he turned back to the food. “I should be used to it by now...” he added but too quiet for her to hear him. Zoe watched him for a minute, unsure if she should ask him what he mumbled. Instead, she went to the cabinet to get their plates so she can set the table. Axel glanced at her. “I'll do it.”
She stopped what she was doing and looked over at him. He still had his back to her; while working on their dinner. “You sure?”
“Yeah.” As she closed the cabinets, he added, “I'll call you when I'm done.”
“...Alright.” Zoe went to leave the kitchen, only to stop and look back at him before she continued out of the room. She reentered her study and sat back down on the couch to resume her homework. Flipping open the book to the page she had left her bookmark on, she tried to continue reading. Staring at the page, her thoughts started to wander. With a sigh, she rested the book on her lap. She had the nagging feeling like something was wrong. Normally her and Axel's arguments didn't upset him as much as this one did. And they especially didn't make him distant. 'I wonder...'
Knock knock. Zoe looked up to the doorway to see Axel standing there. “It's done.” She gave a nod and he walked off. Making sure the bookmark was in place, she closed the book and got up. She set the book on the end table then headed off to the kitchen. Once she entered the kitchen, however, she saw Axel walking out the other door. Looking over at the table Zoe noticed it set for only one person. Confused, she sat down in front of her plate, which Axel was nice enough to put her food on already, and picked up her fork. She poked at her food for a moment, then sighed. She got up out of her chair and picked up her plate and silverware, then headed out of the room. Having a feeling as to where she would find him, Zoe headed up the steps to the loft.
Just as he stuck a forkful of food in his mouth, Axel heard a knock on the door. He turned around in his seat to face the door when it opened and Zoe stepped inside. He swallowed what he had in his mouth and said, “Now what'd I do wrong?”
“Nothing. I just didn't want to eat by myself.” Axel stared at her for a moment before he sighed heavily, then motioned to the chair next to him. She gave a slight smile and sat down. They resumed eating in silence.
Kairi got up from her seat at the dinner table. “I'm going to go upstairs and work on my English homework.”
“Alright, Angel. Don't stay up too late,” her father told her. Kairi giggled.
“Okay, Dad. I won't.” She hurried upstairs to her room. She flipped on the light and sat down on the edge of the bed. Reaching into her book-bag, she removed her copy of Shakespeares' Romeo & Juliet. They were assigned to read the play and write a paper of their interpretation of the play. The paper had to be a minimum of three pages. Just as she had settled down on her bed, with her back against her headboard, her cellphone went off. Kairi picked it up and looked at the little window to see who was calling. She smiled and answered the call. “Hi, Sora.”
“Hey, Kairi,” came Sora's voice from the ear-piece. “Have you started your English homework yet?”
“I was just getting started on it.” She was going to say more but Sora spoke up.
“Can you help me? I can't understand any of it,” he whined. “It's too confusing.” He could hear her giggle on the other end. “Why're you laughing at me?”
Kairi turned around and leaned her arms on her headboard and looked out her window. “I'm not laughing at you, exactly,” she told him with a little laughter still in her tone. “So where do you want to meet? Did you want me to come over so I can help explain it?”
Sora grinned when he saw her at her window. “Oo let's go to the tree house.”
“Sora, we haven't been up there since we were ten,” she told him while laughing. Sora pouted.
“Come on, please? It'll be fun to go up there again.”
Kairi laughed. “Okay, okay. You win.” She disappeared from in front of the window. “I'll meet you at the tree house. I just have to tell my parents that I'm meeting up with you, okay?”
“Yeah. Thanks Kairi. This is so cool. I'll see ya in a couple minutes then.” Kairi could hear the excitement in his voice.
She smiled. “Sure. See you.” They both hung up their phones and Kairi replaced her book in her book-bag then hurried downstairs with her book-bag over her shoulder. “Mom, Dad, I'm going over to Sora's,” she called to her parents as she headed to the door. She heard them answer with a 'alright' and 'have fun', before she had closed the door behind her. In the backyard was a large tree next to the fence separating her and Sora's houses. There are a handful of planks attached to the tree leading up to a tree house. As Kairi climbed up she remembered doing this so many years ago. She smiled at the thought.
As she arrived inside the tree house, she was surprised to see that it was well kept; with a couple additions. Just then she heard a door open then close next door, and not even a minute later Sora climbed up a rope ladder and into the tree house. Sora grinned at her. He rubbed the back of his head and asked, “So, uh, what do you think?”
“I didn't know you still came up here.” She looked over at him and smiled. “It looks nice.” She sat down in one of the beanbags. Sora grinned and plopped down next to her in the other beanbag. “So... ready to get started?” Kairi asked him as she pulled her book out of her book-bag. Sora grimaced, then nodded and removed his book from his pocket.
The sun was showing its first signs of setting for the day. Roxas quietly closed the door behind him and started to his room. “And where have you been young man? I've been worried sick.” Roxas stopped and turned around to face his mom.
“You should have been back hours ago,” his father commented as he entered the room.
Roxas sighed. “I was just out with my skateboard. It's no big deal,” he muttered and started to head to his room.
“Roxas, you best apologize to your mother. She's worried enough about you starting at a new school, you don't need to scare her half-to-death by staying out as late as you did.”
“Fine. I'm sorry,” Roxas answered without turning around. “I'm going to my room to do my homework.” After saying this, he stormed off to his room and slammed the door closed.
Roxas dropped his skateboard on the floor and flopped down on his bed. “Why'd we have to move here,” he muttered as he shut his eyes. “He could've just driven the extra distance.”
~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-
Roxas jerked awake at the sound of the alarm on his cell-phone. It had fallen out of his pants pocket and was now lying on the floor next to his bed. Quickly, he sat upright and got up off his bed to grab his phone. He flipped it open and turned off the alarm. “Aw man...” he muttered. 'I didn't want to fall asleep.' With a sigh, he grabbed his uniform and headed to his bathroom to take a quick shower before heading out to catch the bus.
In the bus, Roxas removed a couple sheets of paper and his biology textbook from his bag. Since he accidentally fell asleep the night before, he hadn't done any of his homework. Now he didn't have a choice but to do it on the way to school. He sighed. 'I gotta get as much done as possible.'
When Roxas got to school he dropped his bag off at his locker. He headed off to his first hour class, which just happened to be biology, with only the the things he needed for the class. Xemnas, their instructor, was waiting at the door to collect the assignments as they walked in the room. Roxas walked over and handed the two assignments he had finished to Xemnas, who asked, “And the third one?”
“Well, we were finishing with the move, so I couldn't get all the assignments done.”
“In that case, I suppose I could give another day to get it done,” he told him. Roxas was a little surprised by what he said, considering the fact that everyone had said he was mean. Not wanting to waste this opportunity, he decided to head into the class. He was stopped, however, when Xemnas stretched his arm across blocking off the entrance to the class. Startled, Roxas looked up at him. “I've changed my mind.”
“Huh?”
“I'm not going to give you extra time to finish your assignments,” Xemnas told him. Allowing Roxas access to the classroom again he said, “Now get in my class, before I change my mind again and not give you credit for any of your assignments.”
Not wanting to get in any more trouble, Roxas hurried into the class. He slumped in his seat. The day already sucked and it was only his first period.
“Daaamn. Now I remember why I like to sleep in.” Zoe sighed. “He just drones on and on...” Axel grinned. “Now that I think about it; you do that too.” Zoe elbowed him. “Ow.”
“I do not drone on,” she told him then stormed off. Axel rolled his eyes and started off to his next class as well.
'It's good to know that he's acting like himself again, even though I feel the blunt end of it. But even so, I wonder what was up yesterday. I've nagged him countless times about other things but for some reason he seriously took offense to it this time. I wonder why that..'  Zoe was drug out of her train of thought to someone saying her name.
“Zoe, are you paying attention?”
She suddenly felt a bit awkward. She had been paying attention but... “Yes.”
“In that case what is the answer to the question I just asked?”
Now she felt embarrassed. “Ah, what, was the question again?” Some of her classmates laughed.
Luxord sighed. “Just as I thought. Try to pay more attention if you don't mind.”
“Yes, sir.”
“Now then, where was I...”
Namine held her books close to her as she made her way through the halls as she headed to her third class. Then just as she was entering her class she heard someone telling her 'hi'. Namine looked over. “Oh, hi Zoe.”
Zoe smiled and gave a wave before she hurried off. “I'll see you later at home ec.”
Namine gave a slight wave before she entered the classroom. She was the first one in the room, aside from the teacher of course. Though shortly after she sat down, people started to file in. “Look out! Walking dead coming through!” She looked up startled as Sora walked in followed closely by Riku and Kairi. Thawp! “Ow! What'cha do that for?” Riku unfolded his notebook and went to sit down. “I don't think...”
“You don't,” snickered Axel who was just sitting down.
“Wha-” Sora questioned confused. Most of the people in the room started laughing. Luxord looked on amused. Riku glanced at Namine before he sat down. 'He looks tired,' Namine realized.
The class laughed and joked around until the bell rang. “Alright everyone. I've corrected your quizzes from yesterday, so I'll be handing those back to you,” Luxord told his class as he picked up a stack of papers from his desk.
Zoe shut her locker with lunch in hand. She had packed a couple snack packs of yogurt, with spoons of course, and a couple sandwiches. Since it was a nice day, she went to sit outside on one of the benches. Then just as she was unpacking her lunch she was a bit startled as a hand, open palm up, was held out in front of her. She looked up at Axel. “Can I help you?”
“Well, yeah. I'm hungry.” She shook her head with a hint of a smile, and deposited a sandwich in his hand. He mumbled a 'thanks' as he leaned against the wall of the school.
They were quiet for a moment as Axel ate the sandwich. “So, how did you do on that math quiz from yesterday?” she asked as she removed the other sandwich.
Axel shrugged. “Better than I thought, I guess.” She looked up at him and was about to say something but stopped. He noticed her looking at him. “What?”
A bit startled she said, “Nothing,” then turned and looked elsewhere. She noticed Riku a distance away.
“Hey, I'm bailing,” Axel told her, then without waiting for an answer, walked away.
Zoe watched him walk off. He looked so deep in thought earlier. She wondered what was up. Was he thinking about yesterday? Suddenly, to her surprise, she heard music coming from the roof of the school. That must be why Riku was sitting against one of the trees furthest away from the rest of the students outside. The musician on the roof missed a couple notes in the song and stopped playing for a minute. “I can't believe I missed that.” She could faintly hear. He started playing again, but from the beginning of the song. Zoe smiled. He's improved a lot. She's heard him play in the band room multiple times, and he says he doesn't play at home. She plucked one of the yogurts from her lunch bag and, while listening to the music, continued eating her lunch.
“Heeey, Riku!” Riku sighed and turned around. “You're not gonna be on the roof?”
“No.”
“Oh. Well, you wanna join me an' Yuffie an' Wakka? We ordered a couple pizzas and they'll be here soon.”
Riku raised a brow. “You ordered pizza?”
The girl grinned. “Yeah! Well, Yuffie's the one who actually ordered it. It was cool. She ducked out of class to order and the teacher didn't even notice! But anyway, you wanna come? My brother'll be there so Kairi'll come too.”
With a shake of the head, Riku told her, “No thanks Selphie. I already have a lunch with me so...”
“But it's pizza!” Selphie interrupted.
“Yes. I'm aware. But I already have a lunch with me,” he told her as lifted his lunch bag.
“Oh. Well, you can come by and grab a piece later if you want. Alright?” Riku responded with an 'alright' and Selphie started off but stopped before she got too far away. She turned back to Riku who had started to walk off. “Hey, Riku!” Riku stopped and looked back. “Stop by sometime! We haven't seen you for awhile!” she called to him before she ran off.
Riku watched her ran off for a moment. He saw her run into someone, quickly apologize then ran off again. He shook his head and walked outside. He settled down in the shade of one of the trees a distance from the entrance of the school and unpacked his lunch. He had almost half of his lunch finished when he saw Axel walking in his direction. He had his hands stuffed in his pockets. Axel glanced over at him. “Yo,” he said as he removed one of his hands from it's pocket to give a slight wave as he walked past.
Something was up. Riku looked in the direction that Axel came from and saw Zoe sitting on a bench by the school entrance. He found it a bit odd that they, they being Axel and Zoe, were actually hanging around each other quite a bit. Last year they had absolutely nothing to do with each other. He was a mix between a class clown and trouble maker; and she didn't want anything to do with that type of person. That was last year. Now he wasn't really that much of a clown anymore and more negligent than a trouble maker. And Zoe, seems more tolerant towards his actions and she hangs out, to an extent, with him. Riku was a little curious what caused the change.
Suddenly, his thoughts were interrupted by music. Riku looked up to the roof of the school. Riku had actually planned on eating his lunch on the roof again but he was beaten to it... by the school's infamous musician. He didn't really talk to him but knew who he was. Usually he would spend every lunch period in the band room toying with his guitar. He was a junior, same as Sora, so they only shared one class together. Now what was his name? He should know this, Sora hung out with him sometimes... Oh, that's right. It was Demyx. Just then the music stopped. “I can't believe I missed that.” Riku looked back up to the roof. He was a bit amused when the song then started over from the beginning.
Namine knocked on the open councilors office door. The woman looked up. Her name was Aerith Fair; as her name plate on her desk said. “Um, I need to change some information for the administration. Do I do that here?”
“Oh no. You would actually need to go to the main office for that,” Aerith told her. She pushed her chair back and stood up. “Would you like me to pick up the papers you need so you can fill them out here?”
“Is that okay?”
Aerith smiled. “Yes, of course.” Namine nodded. “Alright, I will be right back. Please, have a seat.” Namine stepped into the office and sat down in the seat that Aerith had motioned towards.
Not too long later Aerith returned with a couple sheets of paper. “Here we go. I just need to know what you need to change.”
“... The address.”
“Oh that will be simple. You will need to print your name at the top, than fill out this part,” Aerith told her as she circled a section. She then laid the paper in front of Namine. “May I ask the reason for the change?” she asked as she sat down behind her desk.
“It's.. a personal matter,” Namine told her softly. Aerith looked up at Namine a little startled. Whatever the personal matter was, Namine was hurting because of it. There was silence as Namine filled out the section that was circled. “I'm finished filling it out. Should I just give it to you?”
“Yes, that will be fine.” Namine handed her the paper.
Namine got up from her seat. “Thank you for letting me fill it out here.”
“Your welcome.” Namine offered a smile and started for the door. “Oh, Namine?” Namine stopped in the doorway and turned to look at her. Aerith smiled. “If you ever feel the need to talk to someone, you are free to stop by anytime.” Namine nodded than walked out of the room. Aerith looked over the paper before she brought up Namine's information on her computer and changed the data.
Namine went to her locker and picked up the things she would need for art, before she headed to the classroom. The teacher looked startled when she walked in and sat down in her seat. “Is everything okay?” Namine nodded before she laid her head down in her arms on the desk. They were quiet for a couple minutes as the teacher wondered if she should question any further or try to comfort her. Namine took a deep breath and sat up straight. Opening her sketch book she flipped to the drawing she was working on earlier that day.
“Man, I am not looking forward to Accounting.”
Kairi looked at him. “Why's that?”
Sora swallowed the pizza he had in his mouth. “Our teacher is mean!” Kairi turned to Sora.
“No, kidding. We've got the worst luck.” Kairi laughed. It was always interesting to hang out with both Sora and Demyx.
Selphie laughed at her brother and his friend. “Ha ha. You have mean teachers. I don't have any.”
“What about Sir High-and-Mighty Xemnas?” asked Yuffie.
Selphie made a face. “Ugh. I forgot about him.”
“Ya, he's the worst,” Wakka agreed as he grabbed the last piece of supreme pizza.
“Hey, hey; that's the last piece!” Selphie cried out. “Now what'll Kairi have?”
Kairi laughed and waved her hands in front of her. “No, no I'm done. And besides, we only have ten more minutes before lunch is over. So I'm going to go get ready for government.”
Selphie and Yuffie looked at each other; then cried out at the same time, “Dig in!” and quickly grabbed for the last of the pepperoni and sausage pizza. “Yeah, I got it!” Yuffie exclaimed.
“Aw, no fair.”
Kairi giggled as she walked out of the cafeteria. She picked up her books at her locker and started to class. As she was walking to class the warning bell rang. Government was a difficult class; but that was mostly because of the way their teacher taught it. Kairi began to wonder if geography was as difficult as this one since it was taught by the same teacher. She was one of the first people in the classroom.
When Riku entered his fourth hour art class, he was surprised to see Namine was already there. The five minute warning bell had just rung when he walked inside. “Oh, there's the bell. I should get the material ready.” The teacher got up and put the chair back at the table it belonged. “Thank you for showing me the sketches you've done Namine. They're very good.”
Namine smiled. “Thank you Mrs. Porter.”
Mrs. Jane Porter turned around and started back to her desk. “Hello, Riku. How are you doing?”
Riku returned the smile she gave him. “I'm fine. Thanks.” He took his seat next to Namine. Their was silence for a moment between the two. “So, how was your lunch,” Riku asked feeling a little awkward by the question he asked her.
“It was good. I ate at the salad bar. ...” Namine looked over at him. “Did you eat on the roof again?”
Riku shook his head. “No, not today. I ate outside; someone else was up there.” He noticed their classmates start coming into the room.
“Do, you always eat by yourself?”
“Yeah.”
Namine was quiet for a moment as she looked down. “You.. don't like eating with other people?”
“Well...” Riku hesitated. He could feel, and also noticed, some students looking at him. “It's not that exactly. ...” The two were quiet after this and the bell rang signaling the start of class.
You're going to fail if you don't do your work. Axel blinked. The message sounded like something Zoe would tell him. But she's not in this class. Which must mean... Since your telling me this that means you not doing yours either Isa. Axel hit enter to send the message.
