Oh, it’s the Stoicism guy! This generally follows what I understand Stoicism to be.

stop letting miserable people on the internet convince you that you must have a concrete, well-constructed opinion on everything that has ever existed.

#a few years back when I was still in a corporate-ish management/leadership role #I watched some kind of lecture on stoicism on mentorbox (videos etc on various topics #which was packaged as a helpful/inspirational tool for people on leadership roles (at companies)#anyway #I was going to have my staff watch the video too because they were mostly in customer service/high anxiety roles #and they were having a hard time understanding that they didn’t have to follow through on every request #(which usually came in response to a stressful client situation. and we worked in home care so that happened a lot)#(like everyday)#(like a lot a lot)#BUT!#my partner convinced me not to do this (bless him)#‘consider the corporate agenda behind this product and what the future implications might be’#and yeah fuck it #I’ve done a 180 since then #I want people to have questions and feelings because those are often in response to problems #very helpful if I don’t know about the problem #‘I am sad because I have to tell a client they unexpectedly owe $1000 and that’s a shitty convo to have’#to which my response is #hold the phone.#this balance accrued over 3 months wtf has accounts receivable been doing #nobody should be having this conversation and it is easily preventable
