okay heres some things about houses childhood i think about

theres clearly a few dynamics here

-he hates his father, resents the abuse, recognizes that bad things were done to him

-probably when he was very young, he didnt understand why bad things happened to him, was not intentionally A Bad Kid

-because he surmised his dad was not his dad at 12 i assume the abuse started from a young age.

-house mentions ice baths and sleeping outside, but he also mentions his father not speaking to him for months at a time, which is interesting to me. when house tries to qualify the severity of abuse to eve he says "not as bad as your [trauma] if how your acting about it shows how bad it is." which to me is pretty noncommittal. was he doing that bc he was still kind of lying, trying to get info out of her? if not, it seems like house is actually unsure of how to qualify his own abuse, which would lead me to believe it was largely emotional and verbal. although i suspect that his father did physically abuse him at times, to me this exchange implies that house thinks the ice baths and sleeping outside were the worse of it (interestingly both acting on his whole body and ability to regulate temperature)

-at some point he acts out intentionally, instead of unintentionally, bc his father is Wrong and shouldnt be abusing house in these ways(the fact that the thing he wanted to hear from his father was "you were right, you did the right thing" 😭😭)

-this leads to worse and more cruel punishments, which house both detests and wants to avoid repeating. furthering his resentment, but reinforcing his fathers authority

- despite his knowledge that his father is wrong, his dad claims to do these acts out of love, to teach dicipline, to toughen him up. (in this way his struggle with god is really an allegory of his father: is it better he hates me (i deserve pain) or loves me (i dont deserve pain) when he does awful things to me? or is it better for him to not exist at all (things just happen, there is no deserving)?

-in my perspective, especially as house got older, into his teens, he was actually probably really "well behaved" finally smart enough to fake social cues and swallow his pride so that his father wouldnt hit him or what have you (which is why he regresses to a child often as an adult, because he was not allowed those things)

its interesting to me, to see how all of houses character is shaped around the shadow of his father. the parts where he is similar: rigid, principled, yell-y, and where he is intentionally different: encourages independent thinking, respects challenges to his authority (only when he has authority lmao that all falls apart when people take his power(read:agency) away, his biggest trigger)

and none of this even gets into his mother, blythe (a word which means both happiness and bland disintrest) which is a whole nother can of worms. the fact that at the funeral she said that "the war was over" (which implied that no matter how much house actually listened to his father, there was still a part of him that couldnt help but to point out the logical issues, and therefore continued abuse)

lastlly, she had said that john loved him. which i think house believes to be true. especially when he tries to talk to his dead father in season 6, he says "i think i focus on the wrong things," implying that he did want to find some peace with that relationship, and that he wanted his fathers love, despite it being illogical, painful and confusing.

that he was willing to look past the abuse was shocking to me, because house is right his father shouldnt of abused him. but it was coming from a place of love, however ill concieved.

this is as close as we get to house praying to god. to admit that the suffering of life cannot be defied or denied, and grasp for the love nestled in between all the pain, however flawed, wrong, or illogical.

in a lot of ways, his story is so much about houses struggle with the body, its agency, its disability, its doom. he literally becomes a doctor to grasp with this ideologically (at times paradoxically) instead of physics because his question isnt really about existance in general

its about why he exists in the broken, painful way he does. and at the end of it, he sets down his need for an answer, righteousness, and admits that despite it all, his body cant help but love. and that love is the death of him. the end of his suffering.

And why is font changing difficult? What kind of „tiring” is it (as in, what can this kind of effort be compared to? Speaking a language you’re only starting to learn? Something else?)

Skeletons can understand them cause their hearing works differently, that's how they can identify a font by just listening to the other skeleton! If not, how would they know how to name their babies that can't really talk or write yet? It's about how they sound

Changing font is difficult because it requires an extra effort you wouldn't normally make: Imagine speaking another lenguage while speaking in a baby voice constantly

It wouldn't bother you if you do it as a joke and you can get used to it, but it would be annoying for long periods of time!

I imagine it's like that for most skeletons, but it was probably harder for Wingdings since he had to change from symbols to letters, not from letters to other letters

and philip COULD of been one of them, and you could say that's a factor in why eda and lilith are targeted the way they were

but on another hand, you can also kinda sum that up as a result of remembering lilith from his past and therefore disliking her from that, and eda herself being the prime example of rebellion against his authority

there's nothing in the show that concretely proves he knew

especially since a lot of it relies on knowing about what happened with caleb and evelyn, which once again, is left with a lot of wiggle room

like we don't even know if philip actually knew evelyn's last name at all, or if he knew of her or about her long enough for that

when that stuff is all pretty vauge it's just yeahhhhh

if we are to assume Philip knew evelyn was pregnant he would have to be AWARE caleb has witch decedents probably, but he wasn't in power till 50 years ago, so i don't also see how he could keep an eye on caleb's entire family line either for 400 years

also also, maybe philip went after evelyn and said kid, maybe he just...gave up after caleb died and moved onto other things (It's still not even clear how evelyn got his door after all, if we are to assume it's evelyn's doing, because the door appears to be post caleb death)

(Look, i've been over this a few times, this timeline kinda doesn't really make sense, i'm kinda not convinced the crew planned out a proper timeline of events for the wittebanes because there are things that currently kinda don't make sense)

The guy is very much been brainwashed by how he grew up to believe everything he doesn't understand is trying to manipulate him and hurt him, and i don't think any family he may have in the clawthornes would make him see witches differently

honestly i wouldn't be shocked if in his mind, evelyn and caleb having a kid to him is like a demon stealing someone he held dear to use for offspring because of how deluded he is about this stuff

granted, that also depends heavily on how you think philip assumes about the situation, him believing caleb was under a spell and him believing Caleb did everything of his own will have DRASTICLY different implications about why he did what he did.

so yeah, if you're to ask me this is all more of the same "This is kinda supported by canon but is also kinda not" stuff that is kinda all over the wittebane backstory in general

if we ever get that wittebane backstory, they have a lot of clear up here because there's a lot left to interpretation and it's kinda why people have very drastically different opinions on how aspects of this character were handled.

guy should of been destroyed at the end no matter what of course, but

people seeing him as a more tragic unredeemable villian doomed from the beginning due to growing up in extremism as a child and no guidance to pull him out of it so he just got worse and worse, and people who see him as just an asshole who never cared about his brother and was perfectly capable of getting out of his brainwashing is very much a result of leaving a lot of this stuff kinda up to interpretation

its getting there. i am hoping thisll be some kinda wake up call for moon to work on getting better bc. jesus christ dude. its both disappointing yet understandable that sun rejected him. could he have been nicer about it? probably. but what he said was probably built up anger that he needed to let out and unfortunately moons confession was the trigger.

moons whole "idk how emotions work/i thought teasing worked" reminds me of the "boys will be boys" stuff you would hear after being shoved around bc they "have a crush on you" (speaking from experience -_-). like my brother in christ. it is not attractive to treat someone like shit. it makes them think you dont like them AND causes resentment to grow. this might sound shocking and ik it might be a bit foreign but... treating ppl nicely makes them like you more. ik its absolutely crazy but trust me its true.

im just hoping moon takes this as a chance to get better instead of the definitely super duper subtle foreshadowing that sun said at the end of the episode. i also desperately hope this isnt just some shitpost episode that adds nothing to the plot and is forgotten by the next video

i have 2 reasons for not making jimmy into any animal/living creature at all: 1. he doesn't deserve to be a wonderful creature of nature in my opinion because they're inherently pure and good in my eyes. 2. if i did make him into an animal, some people would make "jokes" about putting him down or harm coming to him in general. and i just wasn't comfortable with the thought of harming an animal, even as a joke. while jimmy deserves it, an animal does not. ty for understanding! sorry for the kinda heavy answer 🙏🙏

Anon I sweated and slaved over sibling order and relations in general in this au you have NO idea lol

Sibling order was mostly based on canon ages and plot. Ignoring the adopted boys for a second, here was most of my reasoning:

Twilight is oldest because he's partially Violet's role and also actually related to Time in regular loz/lu. Legend is next because he's also partially Violet, and he's another of Time's successors. (Wild and Hyrule are both around in here). but after them Wind is next, because he's part of Dash's role, and he's the third and last of Time's successors. I wanted them all to be Time's biological kids lol. Four is the youngest because his powers worked best for Jack-Jack, that's... pretty much the only reason lol. As I developed everything more he (and everyone honestly) really fell into their roles.

I wasn't actually sure for a while about the adopted boys; originally, Legend and Wild were twins, and only Hyrule was adopted. But as I was figuring out Wild's scars, and had some suggestions from people, I realized it worked better to have him be adopted as well. Both of them really were just because the backstories and ages worked best that way!

Had a dream that Olruggio confessed his feelings to Qifrey and after a moment of shock and oh, that explains everything now ala that zoomed-in eye moment from Kitchen, - they kissed a bunch. But then Qifrey tried to convince Olly that they should wipe their memory of the night because things are too complicated rn for a relationship, and Olly was like... "You're a terrible man for making me have to go through confessing again," and wondering if maybe they've done all this before.

And Qifrey was like, "well, maybe I was the one who confessed last time?" and Olly just stares at him like, no way. Because Olly would never have agreed to erasing their memories if he had witnessed Qifrey saying it.

So Qifrey pulls out a paper with the seal on it and gives a half-assed speech about how 'maybe in the future when things are more settled, then they can...' and Olly just watches him, knowing something is off but unable to piece together why. But he gives him another kiss and says he'll be holding Qifrey to it.

They each hold half of the paper and complete the seal. And then... wake up at the kitchen table, the paper a pile of ash beside them.

So my memory is also terrible. A lot of the times I forget quotes really quickly. But I was thinking about this and going through the rolodex in my brain, and realized that I do remember lines from shows, but usually they aren't significant by themselves. Like for me it's a quote that brings me straight into the show again, like I'm seeing in my head and it's invoking the same feelings that I felt during the show. (also there's also the language thing, where I'm not always sure if I know exactly what they're saying so I'm always afraid of giving it weight for some reason)

Like for example. If I'm thinking of WDYEY, I think of onions, and chicken thighs. Specifically "I think I should use two chicken thighs", as said by Shiro. Because it makes me remember them instantly, and have the same feeling I had when I watched. Also lot of the times I think of bits of dialogue and not necessarily lines by itself. Like for instance in ULS when Hotae is talking to Donghee while cleaning and he says a bunch of things ending with something like "But that's all bullshit. Because when you can't endure something, then you just can't endure it."

So I don't know if these will help you, because although I think I could maybe put them on my wall or something, and it would be meaningful to me, I don't know if it would be the same for you.
