look, she's wise. she's got sense. she knows herself. but she can also somehow convince herself that all of her projects are good ideas. she bought this whole fixer upper bc her ex-wife is a contractor and she helped her a bunch on projects, so she's convinced herself that she's going to be able to renovate the whole house in less than a year. 🥪 SANDWICH — what does your oc's typical lunch look like? do they usually eat lunch?

lunch is the meal that most often falls by the wayside for her, at least when she's by herself. midday is usually the time where she's getting really into whatever project or story she's working on, so unless someone reminds her that food exists, she doesn't realize what time it is until percy is coming home from school or someone distracts her long enough for her to realize that her stomach has been growling since 11am.

however, when she does realize (or if it's a weekend/holiday where percy is home all day), she makes a spread. lots of different things, especially snacky sides like cut up fruit and veggies with dips and sauces. she eats a lot of fruit and veggies bc that's just how she grew up eating bc of all the farming on the aforementioned lesbian commune. bonus points if it's in a smoothie. extra bonus points if that smoothie is basically a milkshake.

EDIT: I FORGOT A VERY IMPORTANT CATEGORY: stake out lunches! stevie takes percy out on stake outs sometimes so she's gotta make sure they get fed. those lunches are definitely giant bags of fast food that are bigger than either of their heads.

🍛 CURRY AND RICE — what does your oc's typical dinner look like? do they usually eat dinner?

her moms and their friends were all very multicultural so she probably cooks food from all around the world, and she strikes me as the type who likes to show her love through food. also, i imagine she took a nutrition class or two when she was younger to make sure that she wasn't going to like, accidentally give percy the gout or something.

dinner is usually the main meal of the day that she plans out ahead of time so she can go all out. lots of the time, it's something she preps in the morning or the night before and throws in the slow cooker or something - stews, curries, soups, some meat that will be fall-off-the-bone tender in six hours, etc. plus any extras that might be needed.

short scene in my Reclamation AU during season 2 or the main story featuring Jason running away from a Karen he just stole from, accidentally getting corner into Bruce. With no other option, he clings to Bruce’s back. This is the first time i think Jason would ever ask (technically indirectly and without words) for help from Bruce. Bruce is immediately recognized by the Laren, and handles it with the care of someone who doesn’t care about what Tarren thinks, but will compensate for whatever later. But first, leave the kid alone. After Keran leaves, Bruce kneels down to remind Jason to be careful, it’s not necessary to be so irresponsible anymore, at least not alone. He’s going to return what he stole later, but right now we’re going home (Bruce was interrupted during a plot conversation). “Thank you…” he mumbles. This is the first time Jason ever thanks Bruce.

In my humble opinion, i think Bruce would’ve taken more care for Jason than Dick since it was Dick that cut off from him first, so Jason was his attempt to be kinder and more understanding (which also concedes with my story’s character arc of connection).

After Jason dies and is resurrected (which does happen in my AU although i changed the details), Jason’s character is something I’m still uncertain about, but he probably isn’t super mad at Bruce, at least not by a lot. But he certainly won’t recreate the War on Drugs. What i think he should’ve done was keep exploding supplies of weaponry and drugs, not people. Then he’ll confront political positions to “negotiate" (💥🔫) on drug and homeless reform. He still gets confronted by criminals of all types, which he can avoid but it’s the mafias and organized crimes that he wants to focus on him.

So Jason becomes the enemy of the enemy, or the target that distracts from other targets. Something like that. It’s the illusion of an uncaring threat that keeps Red Hood from seeming empathetic, so no one can use his compassion against him. Stoicism or whatevre.

I also reverted his title as “Red Hood" to it’s original meaning of a “common thug." (Because Jason’s connection to Joker is stupid and boring and takes away from Jason’s character). I think it makes more sense if Jason calls himself Red Hood as a way to connect himself to the troubled class, like his father once was. In a way, he’s carrying out the will he wish his father could’ve done.

Anyways this place is full of Christian Republicans (and probably many homophobes) for example, there are many churches and christian related shit everywhere. there was this guy sitting, holding a sign and shouting Christianity related stuff, like to worship god or whatever (I hope you know what I mean). And right as I walked by him I heard him shout something like “eliminating sinful/immoral things such as homosexuals and pedophilia” that’s obviously not exactly what he said, but I can’t remember. Anyways as I was walking by I was talking to my mom and her friend but right as I heard that I just kind of went silent and they just continued their convo about whatever. Like how can you compare homosexuality to PEDOPHILIA??? Like Jesus Christ man (haha) also the people just give off homophobia, yk? Like rednecks and mainly white people. A lot of American flags.. honestly idk this place just seems rly depressing. This is why I can never live in these type of areas. Something had gone wrong during lunch, though, and it left her puking into a bucket in the medbay. Tequila gave the girl a look of pity as he passed through with Sprite.

Being back in her home turf was going to give Houdini a morale boost after the last two missions failed. (Well, let’s rephrase that - the last two honeypot missions.)

Bourbon accompanied Houdini to the bar on the West End for his own enjoyment. No wonder there was a caution attached to the file. Even being vigilant couldn’t stop the worst from happening.

Las Vegas.

This was supposed to be another good one, under the lights of the strip and the casinos sparkling all around them. The high roller table was going to be the target as Vodka gave instructions over the comm. He had requested a honeypot from Ginger while at the Vegas HQ and immediately sent the first available agent - Houdini.

… until Vodka revealed that the whole thing was a joke and that he was trying to fuck her instead.

This mission was definitely not a flop for the reasons the other ones were.

Houdini was partnered with Rum - who everyone happened to call Rum Cake - for a mission to get information from a trust fundy who was tied to a CEO dealing a strain of coke that would cause far too many problems if they couldn’t stop them.

The target was very into pretty people. It couldn’t be helped that on the beaches of Miami, that they went for Rum. He was very pretty and if Houdini were in the target’s shoes, she’d go for him too.

So instead she sat on the beach, sipping strawberry daiquiris until Rum came back looking absolutely worn out.

...and the one time she did.

New York City.

The moment she landed back at the Distillery from a mission in New Orleans, Houdini was sent packing for a mission in New York City.

A honeypot mission.

Part of her wondered how poorly it would turn out this time given her track record, but the moment she read the mission brief she began packing as if she had to run for her life.

Most of the other agents did not feel comfortable with the requests of this mission. It required… a certain taste, which is why Houdini was so willing to jump on a plane and head out to NYC.

The file prompted that the target not only enjoyed holding power over others in a court of law, but he also had that taste dip into the bedroom.

A note of caution was marked in Stephen Tiller’s file: approach only if capable.

Capable? She kept reading, seeing notices of breathplay, dom-leaning, enjoys bondage, and other comments that made her wonder if she’d make it through the flight in one piece. To think that other agents passed up this mission!

Her cover was simple; she was applying for an internship within his law firm. This honeypot would be a little dragged out, too, as she needed to get access to the files saved on the firm’s server.

a lot of people have expressed annoyance at syrah’s arc in canon, and i feel like i might just be repeating things that @septimusheapheadcanons , @theheaps & other people have said but like. i wanna talk about that anyway 

syrah’s really interesting and important i feel because of how significant her character is in syren, right from her entry. you have these 3 kids (yeah, they’re all very smart kids with official designations and whatnot but they’re still kids) stuck on an island, and septimus’s dragon is dying and he doesn’t know what to do, and then he sees this girl and we’ve witnessed enough sep POV to be able to assess that this is likely his first crush ever?? and she’s 19 but she’s also over 500 years old, and she knows a very particular type of magyk/alchemy that has been lost to time & that nobody else knows, and she saves spit fyre and shows septimus things he’s never seen before and like, 

she’s so cool? and not to sound like a commerce student on here (lmao any commerce kids reading this bless y’all) but like..... she’s such a valuable human resource??? 

syrah likely knows things that marcia does not know. you know how there’s some point in some book (i think it’s darke????) where marcia and marcellus team up to keep the balance between light + darke magyk or whatevr it was called??? well?? syrah could probably have done that shit herself.

septimus heap as a series is like. valued & cherished for its strong female characters, so given this, it’s like, angie really did our girl dirty. syrah’s so wise and well-informed, and she’s also incredibly mentally strong to have survived the syren that long and to have been coherent enough to give septimus that diary imo. she has so much trauma and whatnot but she is still so kind, and as a character she was so intriguing + focused on in syren, which was really nice and interesting to see.

and then??? in darke & in fyre?? nothing? not much??? she becomes as sidelined as someone like hildegarde pigeon

which. i mean. hildegarde doesn’t actually do anything you know? she’s very much a secondary character all through and that’s FINE. syrah was actually significant before angie went “yeah we don’t need her anymore” and demoted her, which is........ ouch. 

syrah had so much potential to do things in both darke and fyre. she had a skillset unlike anyone else’s, and she was a genuinely good person. this entire ‘mental instability’ thing feels weird and infantilizing, and as someone who is mentally ill (not formally diagnosed but i am so depressed you can smell it on me, and i definitely need a therapist, more on that later) it also feels..... idk. weirdly wrong.

oh, so septimus can have a character development arc that fleshes out his trauma and his recovery and hints at his ptsd in a respectful way, but syrah’s just confined to hospital rooms and everyone treating her weirdly? make it make sense, please

Notes: This was the first thing I wrote post KH3 and I think I’m okay with putting it out at this point. So yes, warning for KH3 spoilers.

The formatting of this fic is a little weird quite frankly, because it’s a ( mostly ) texting based fic. I used strikethrough at points to indicate messages that were deleted / unsent, but since I know strikethrough can be finicky on some devices ( tumblr mobile ), so I’ve gone ahead and also italicized those parts as well.

There are also some obvious typos! Mostly for a touch of realism because Riku absolutely accidentally typos shit. There are other reasons that I hope are obvious when reading it!

Summary: Riku keeps sending messages because he doesn’t know how else to cope.

It’s an admittedly bad habit he’s gotten into, writing up messages that he won’t send. Riku means to cut off the urge before it become a habit, but here he is, still typing up messages for him and him alone.

It’s kind of therapeutic, to write up the things that he can’t really find the words to say aloud— and one would say he should invest in a journal before he accidentally sends a text he does not mean to, but he doesn’t think it’d be quite the same. Doesn’t simulate the same kind of conversation, even if that means a few things that he doesn’t mean to say slip through.

( If it were just anyone he was sending these messages to, Riku knows he might have more than a few reservations— but it’s Sora, who never judges him, even if there are more than a few things he would like to keep secret for him ).

So he continues typing up messages to get things off his chest, and if Sora finds it annoying that he spends more time typing up theoretical conversations than actually having them, he never says anything about it. Probably because Sora only understands how to use their gummiphones half the time to begin with.

Of course, he does send actual messages too, even if perhaps less frequently. Short little blurbs when he can tell that by the increasing frequency in his messages that Sora is worried ( and as bad as Riku is at saying what he wants, he can at least make sure he isn’t worrying for no good reason ).

Notifications of social media updates, text messages that were a litany of errors between them; the buildup of numbers bring some form of comfort.

Until they don’t.

If he had been dependent on his phone before, then it was most certainly his lifeline afterwards.

Old notifications are left alone, a flashing number remains constant—as if the moment Riku checks it, it will disappear ( and some of the hope that he clings onto will go with it ).

He sends messages when he needs someone to talk to, so, nothing has really changed in that regard. He thinks about it a little more like writing letters than a journal. Sora will see them eventually, he hopes—thinks he would laugh at how many messages he sends and what kind of things Riku chooses to talk about.

It’s better than thinking of the alternative—

( The illusion is jarring and broken more quickly than he would like to admit because Sora has almost always been quick to check his messages, regardless of situation, the fact that the device will remind him of the fact that his messages continue to go unread is jarring and hard to get used to.

how to add stars/glitter on edits

i made this tutorial ages ago: it’s very messy and definitely not the easiest way, but per the anon’s request, this is how to add stars, glitter, or any other gif overlay to an edit

the easiest way to add stars onto an image is to have a completed edit first, still with your layers intact if you want, for example, the image below the stars and the text above (group them if it’s easier - this is up to you)

this is the image i’ll use to show u, its v v old pls excuse the smudges etc~ 

then u want to find an overlay, ive been using the first of these recently bc its simple? save it to ur desktop, and open it in photoshop this is probably a longwinded way but its how i do it:

find how many layers are in the gif. the one im using has 29, so on the kaz brekker image, i created a frame animation and opened 29 frames, all with the image on. (if a bunch of blank layers open up in ur layers pad u can delete these)

then go to ur stars gif, select all the frames, and then click the arrow option thing~ on the left of the frame animation panel and click copy frames

then go back to ur edit, highlight all the frames again, and click paste frames... when the box comes up, select ‘paste over frames’

i tend to group the gif’s layers here, simply because its easier if u want to delete the stars from a certain part of the image

from here on out, its v important u have all the frames selected, otherwise, if u transformed the gif overlay in any way, and u haven’t selected all frames, it’ll only change it on frame and its a nightmare to change it frame by frame (trust me ive been there)

as well as having all the layers selected on the frame panels, i also select all the layers of the gif overlay on the layers panel, and then use ctrl + t , hold shift, and resize / rotate if needed, the overlay so it covers the entire edit. 

if you’ve grouped the layers, here u can select the group, and change the ((overlay? options)), im not sure what its called, at the top of the layer panel. i tend to use screen the most, but it doesn’t hurt to try others too bc they give different effects (such as difference, which turns the stars black almost)

the image (hopefully) should look something along those lines, and if u press play on the frame timeline, it should run smoothly,

if you want to know how to erase the stars from specific parts of the image, read here. if u want to know how to save it for the web, skip on. 

if you’ve grouped the layers of the overlay, this is where that comes in handy. i’m going to show how to get the stars off of the model, and only on the bg;

again, make sure all the frames are selected, or it’s a nightmare to fix.

click on the layer with the image u want to delete the stars from, select the object/model. i tend to use the magic wand tool (w), but any from that tool selection works; if something is square the marque tool does wonders.

once u have ur outline selected, its always best to go to select > refine edge. you don’t have to, but trust me it does wonders. i usually bring the radius to no more than 3px, and smooth only a bit. u can feather the outline for hair, it either looks great or horrible, but if its not hair, like here it would feather the coat, only a couple px’s max. again; its ur opinion, i probably do it different than others. just do what looks nice.

this might make it more complicated, but as its the model i want to retain detail, i tend to select the model, refine the edge, and then ctrl + shift + i (inverse selection), so the background is selected. if u want, u can just select the background at first. u want to select whatevre it is u want to keep the stars:

once its selected and refine, click on the group with the overlay in, still making sure all the frames are selected, and add a layer mask (its the icon that looks a bit like a washing marchine or camera - the rectangle with a circle in - the third icon along for me)

this should get rid of the stars in the model + the group layer should look a lil like this:

here, if you want to change the opacity of the stars,, you can use the brush tool (white - 100% visible, black - 100% transparent, the shades of grey fit in between resepectively) or the eraser tool (and just use the opacity of the eraser tool if u want it semi visible). a big brush works well, bc u’ve got the selection, u can paint over the entire selection with the layer mask selected and it wont effect the other part of the image. now, the stars should fit solely on the bg (or on the model too if u simply wanted a lowered opacity - i hope this makes sense if feel like im wording it badly)

 if you have text, and want it on top of the stars, u can drag these layers above the over lay group.

how to save the image

i usually save my image as a psd how u would normally, going to file > save as, so i have a back up if i need to come back and edit it later. 

then, go to file > export > save for web (legacy)

disclaimer; ive never properly researched the best way to save gifs, but this works for me? so ive kept doing it

all i do at this stage is make sure the image is below tumblrs limit (3mb, i think); it says this just below the preview screen under ‘GIF’. i also tend to click preview in the bottom left corner, and this opens it up in ur web browser; it shows the sizing + how it would play when posted, the only other thing i change is the looping options, on the bottom right, and make sure its set on ‘forever’. then click save, and it’ll take u to ur computer desktop and u can save where needs be

im micmac and the particular area im from is.. nova scotia i think? and i live on the opposite side of canada in BC and i really lve coast salish culture since ive been surrounded by it all my life and i feel like this is my home but knowing its not really my home is so.. its. almost heart breaking. i dont know much abt micmac culture even.. i read about the micmac creation story today and i almost started crying honestly

music: never loved interview

Never Loved Interview--Toronto, ON In the final stretch of their summer tour supporting Like Pacific and Sleep On It, I sat down to enjoy a cup of coffee in the beautiful city of Toronto with Florida rockers, Never Loved-- comprised of Cameron Knopp (vocals, guitar), Kevin Blackburn (drums), and Jay Gayoso (Bass) to chat about aliens, their favorite menu items from Taco Bell, and what’s next on the horizon for the group after a hectic and successful 2019. I’m a big fan of icebreakers, and I feel one of the best ways to get to know someone quickly is to find out what they’ve been listening to--what have you guys been listening to most recently? 

Cameron Knopp: “I was about to listen to the new Drake album that came out today, but I didn’t get a chance to.” 

Kevin Blackburn: “I think he knew we were in the six, in Toronto, and he was like ‘Yo, we need to drop an album for Kevin and Camm.’ Jay doesn’t like Drake that much.” 

C: “I’ll pull up my Spotify and look up the last played thing. The new Cage the Elephant record, actually.” 

Jay Gayoso: “I was listening to Venetian Snares.” 

K: “I’d say my number one most played artist for the past couple months has probably been Daniel Caesar.” 

What do you listen to on your drives? 

C: “I’ll make a playlist of stuff that I really like, and once I get sick of that I’ll chart into old playlists I used to have. [I’ll] chart into bands--not on this tour specifically, but on other tours we’ve done, there’s been local bands that have played the shows, so I’ll check them out. We bounce around from rap, to pop punk, to alternative rock, to pop, to Taylor Swift..” 

What has the experience on this tour been like for you guys compared to other tours you’ve done? 

C: “Incredible, actually. The first tour that we did we only had one song out, so no one really knew us. Second tour, which was with In Her Own Words on the west coast, we released our EP the day of the first show on that tour. So again, no one really knew us, but as that tour picked up towards the last few days, we had some kids come out who knew us. We took a week off and went to the east coast, where we met up with another tour, and on that one kids were coming out that knew who we were after only a few weeks [of the EP being released]. This tour has been incredible because the EP’s been out for about three months now, and we just released a new song before this tour, so we’ve had a lot of kids coming out who knew who we were, knew the words, so it’s been really awesome seeing that and seeing where its going.” 

K: “It’s also fun playing new songs, and meeting new people, and going to new countries like Canada, shit’s crazy! I’d say this is probably the most fun I’ve had on any of the tours, because I feel like we’re getting more into a rhythm and we’re kinda getting the hang of it you could say. It’s been a lot of fun!” That new song that you guys put out right before this tour--there was a lot of blow-up aliens involved in the music video, and I’ve noticed it’s been a theme at some of your shows as well. There has to be a story there--where did that come from? 

C: “So, the aliens are more of a metaphor in that song. That song talks about a few different things, but mainly feeling out of place in certain situations and moments. The aliens represent [that]--they’re out of place, on a different planet. Then, we just figured ‘Hey, why don’t we bring one and throw him in the crowd for some shows?’--and it’s actually been pretty fun. He’s been beaten up a little bit--” 

K: Paul’s (the blow up alien in question) been going hard, he’s gotten tatted up, he’s stage diving, crowdsurfing--” 

C: “We only bring him out for some shows that are maybe bigger venues, the few shows he has gotten brought out to he’s been taking a beating, so we don’t want to have him die.”

What’s been your favorite song to play live this tour? 

K: “I would say I really like playing the new one because it’s fresh and new. Even sometimes when we play it I still get anxious, because it’s like oh shit, we’ve only played this song like maybe 10 times total live, so it’s one of those things where I’m nervous to do it, but as soon as we start it I feel good about it.” 

C: “The obvious is probably ‘Goddamn’, for me it’s because everyone knows that song...it’s really fun singing it with everyone in the front row, second row, but that set aside, I would say “Gone”, because of the circle pits; it’s one of the more under the radar songs we have, and it’s really fun to play live, it’s very high energy.” 

Any standout moments from creating and recording your EP? 

C:"Just when it was released, in all honesty. It took us a long time, it was a lot of work, there were some songs that didn't make the cut that we really wanted on there... it's just a long process. A lot went into it...each song was written at different times, so when it actually came out it was nice, because at some points it felt like 'Is this thing gonna come out or not?' It was a long road-- even though it's brand new, there was a lot of behind the scenes that went into it." With you guys being newer faces in the scene, what do you want people who aren’t familiar with your band to know about you and your music? 

K: “That this is real. We want to have a good time, we want other people to have a good time and feel like they’re not alone.” 

C: “We’re all gonna have shitty days and some tough times, but it’s just temporary. There’s peaks and valleys and we all go through it and I think our songs kind of highlight that. If you listen to that, hopefully it helps the rough days feel a little bit better, and show that there's light at the end of the tunnel." 

What are some bands you'd like to tour with in the future? 

C: "Super Whatevr would be really cool. I like IDKHOW a lot, Cage the Elephant would be really cool, Dreamers would be sick."  K: "I would like to do something in a different realm almost, kinda like the whole Lil Wayne x Blink-182 Tour--not on that scale, obviously. I think it would be tight to do something with somebody that's way out of left field, that way we get different crowds, but everybody's there for the same reason, to have a good time, so I think that would be cool. No specific artist for me, just a rapper or an indie band would be tight." 

What are your goals for the rest of this year, personally, musically, in any sense? What's next for you guys? 

K: "Hopefully we'll start working on new music pretty soon, hopefully hitting the road again, hopefully coming back to Canada, because it's a good time up here. Playing shows, making new music, doing what we do best." 

C: "I'll rip the bandaid off; there's another tour being announced and a new song coming out as well. Personally--the song that is coming out before the end of the year--is my favorite one that we have in our catalog, at least out of [what's currently released]. There is a full album, too, that's gonna be worked on. I think for us we just wanna close out the year strong--it's been a very, very, very big year for us. In January, we only had one song out and no one knew who we were, and from that time until now, we've toured the full US, we've gotten to release some sick songs, and I think we've really cultivated a nice foundation--shoutout to JALAPENO GANG (referring to the group’s fans)-- we're excited. " 

K: "I will put it out there that when I first heard all the songs-- when I first met Camm and Jay, Camm showed me all the songs in his Volkswagen. He showed me all the songs that were gonna be on the EP, then he showed me some other ones that he was thinking about putting on the EP but didn't make it, or that he wanted to release later--the one that's coming out in the fall, from day 1 that's been my absolute favorite song. Disclaimer, it's not 'Autumn'-- it's, in my opinion, probably the best stuff that I've ever heard come out of Camm. It's the only song that I would listen to [while] not trying to learn it. I would literally sit there and just listen to that song because I liked it. 

C: “What he’s saying is he hates the rest of our songs.” 

K:”No! Usually when I listen to the songs it’s like ‘oh I have to learn this part, this is this drum part, I have to remember this and that’, but with this song.. it's a bop, let's put it that way." 

I wanted to ask you about 'Dead Inside'--the song deals with being stuck in a routine, tell me more about what inspired it and where you are now versus when you wrote it. 

C: "That song was actually written before Never Loved was a band, before it was even an idea, before..anything. It was written at a time where I was just coming out of [being in] other bands, and was writing music just to write music. I wasn't writing music exactly like that at the time, it was a little bit more mellow. That song was just me kind of not having any qualms, and letting whatever comes out come out. That was a very tough time, because I had really no idea what the game plan was or what was gonna happen next, or what I was gonna do with all this material I was working on. Ironically enough, when I went to go work with our producer--shoutout to [Matt] Squire, he's awesome-- we were going through demos and that song was on the back burner, I never even really thought anything of it, and that was the first song he picked where he was like 'You've gotta do this song.' So, where I'm at now versus where I was then-- [it's a] night and day difference. I mean, it's incredible how far we've come, even just from the start of this year to now. So, at the end of the day I think you're always going to have those battles. No matter what phase you're at, there's always gonna be something that'll power you through." 

I've got some fun short-answer questions for you to finish up with, starting with: What's one song you can rage to no matter what? 

K: "For me personally, 'September' by Earth, Wind, and Fire." 

C: "’Legend Has It' by Run the Jewels." What’s your favorite thing to do when you’re not doing music? 

C: “Watch Hockey.” 

K: “Look at Luka,” Blackburn shared with a giggle as tour mate, Luka Fischman (Sleep On It, drums) wandered into the coffee house. “If I’m not playing music, I would still just like to be playing drums, but I don’t know if that counts. Hanging out with my dog.” 

What’s your favorite place to eat when you’re on the road? 

J: “Taco Bell! Favorite place to eat? Dude, that’s where we eat the most!” 

C: “It’s hard to tell because I don’t wanna eat at the same place in different cities, I try to get out and explore and see what each city has to offer, but if I had to default to a chain that’s like ‘Ok, I’m gonna eat this and I’m good for the day’, it’s probably Chipotle.” 

K: “I really like Taco Bell. It’s cheap--” 

J:”--I like Taco Bell better than Chipotle.” 

K:”--If you get the right stuff, it’s not that bad of quality, so I would say Taco Bell for me.” 

What do you get at Taco Bell? 

K: “Shredded Chicken Burrito. I think that’s a little bit more real than anything else they have on the menu, and it’s pretty basic. It’s cheap, it’s good--that’s all that really counts for me.”

If you could jam with any musician for a day, dead or alive, who would it be and why? 

K: “I’d have to go with [Dave] Grohl. Because the thing is with Grohl is, he be playin’ sick riffs, but then he’d also sit down behind the kit and show me a thing or two. Plus, I would like to pick his brain, and just ask him like, ‘how are you..you?’” 

C: “Honestly, I wouldn’t. I know it’s a weird question, but I think there’s this facade, when you look at these musicians you idolize and look up to-- I don’t want to possibly jam with them and ruin that image that I have of them.” 

J: “Y’know, the person I’d like to jam with is Kevin, because I can play a bass riff for like 3 hours and he’ll just play drums to it.” 

K: “Aw I love you Jay, that was so sweet.” 

J: “We actually did that.” 

K: “We actually did do that. He played--What was the bass-line? Express yourself by N.W.A, he was playing that bass line and I was just laying down a simple groove for like an hour, two hours straight. It’s a good time.” 

Tongue Tied has a signature question that we close every interview with, which is, If you had to describe your music to a deaf person, how would you describe it? 

C: “Resilient.” 

K: “I would say spicy. Spicy and resilient.”
