CHANCAY, Peru (AP) — On the edge of Peru’s coastal desert, a remote fishing town where a third of all residents have no running water is being transformed into a huge deep-water port to cash in on the inexorable rise of Chinese interest in resource-rich South America.
The megaport of Chancay, a $1.3 billion project majority-owned by the Chinese shipping giant Cosco, is turning this outpost of bobbing fishing boats into an important node of the global economy.
From the presidential palace in Lima, 60 kilometers (37 miles) south of the port inauguration ceremony, China’s President Xi Jinping watched a livestream of the ribbon-cutting alongside his Peruvian counterpart, Dina Boluarte, late Thursday.
The leaders' faces appeared on a giant screen in Chancay, where engineers in bright orange safety vests declared the port operational to the swell of string instruments. Chinese dancers with red dragon-costume heads seemingly burst out of nowhere to prance around the docking station as a crane lowered the first aluminum containers onto a berthed cargo ship.
“Considerable income and enormous job opportunities will be generated for Peru,” Xi said from Lima, where world leaders were preparing to gather for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum. “This will generate tangible results for the people of the region.”
But the development — expected to encompass 15 quays and a large industrial park drawing more than $3.5 billion in investment over a decade — has met a skeptical response from impoverished villagers, who say it is depriving them of fishing waters and bringing no economic benefit to locals.
“Our fishing spots no longer exist here. They destroyed them,” said 78-year-old fisherman Julius Caesar — “like the emperor of Rome” — gesturing toward the dockside cranes. “I don't blame the Chinese for trying to mine this place for all it's worth. I blame our government for not protecting us.”
The Peruvian government hopes the port will become a strategic transshipment hub for the region, opening a new line connecting South America to Asia and speeding trade across the Pacific for Peru's blueberries, Brazil's soybeans and Chile's copper, among other exports.
Officials cite the port's potential to generate millions of dollars in revenues and turn coastal cities into so-called special economic zones with tax breaks to lure investment.
“We Peruvians are focused primarily on the well-being of Peruvians,” Foreign Minister Elmer Schialer told The Associated Press.
But many of Chancay's 60,000 residents are unconvinced. Fishermen returning to port with smaller catches complain that they have already lost out.
The dredging of the port — which sucked sediment from the seabed to create a shipping channel 17 meters (56 feet) deep — has ruined fish breeding grounds, locals said.
“I’ve been out in the water all day and I’m always needing to venture farther,” said Rafael Ávila, a 28-year-old fisherman with sand in his hair, returning to shore empty-handed and exhausted.
“This used to be enough,” he said, pointing at his painted dinghy. “Now I need a larger, more expensive boat to reach the fish."
To make extra cash, Ávila started offering occasional joyrides to selfie-taking visitors wanting to get a glimpse at the hulking Chinese ships.
With some of the world's largest container ships to berth at Chancay Port in January 2025, residents also fear the arrival of pollution and oil spills. In 2022, a botched tanker delivery at La Pampilla refinery nearby sent thousands of barrels of crude oil spilling into Peru's famously biodiverse waters, killing countless fish and putting legions of fishermen out of work.
Today a glance at the moribund town center, featuring mostly empty seafood restaurants, tells the story of diminished fishing stocks and decimated tourism even without the port being operational.
The port's breakwater changed the currents and destroyed good surfing conditions, locals said, affecting everyone from ice vendors to truckers to restaurant owners. “No to the megaport” is spray-painted on a wall overlooking the waterfront.
“This port is a monster that's come here to screw us,” said 40-year-old Rosa Collantes, cleaning and gutting slimy drum fish on the shore. “People come to the port and they say ‘Wow, tremendous!' but they don't see the reality.”
Port authorities say they're aware of the stark contrast between the sleek modern port and the surrounding village of Chancay, where many live on unpaved roads lined with ragged shacks and littered with trash.
“You cannot build a state-of-the-art port and have a city next to it that has no drinking water, no sewage, a collapsing hospital and no educational centers,” said Mario de las Casas, a manager for Cosco in Chancay, adding that the company had already launched studies to determine how the port could help reduce inequality and spur local growth.
“The port should not be a blemish,” De las Casas said.

Better Uses for Company Time (2)
Yeah I FINALLY fucking wrote the next chapter, I'm deep in my chubby Aegon shit again. He's my stress eating terrible baby man. Again I have to tag @who-told-you-this-was-butter who's chubby Aegon art makes me bark at mailmen
No real warnings? Mentions of smoking and alcohol and generally being kind of horny, Aeg's got some shit going on with the mommy issues but that's not news
Aegon didn’t even know what charity the party was for. The snippets of conversation he’d heard gave him the vague impression of something like ‘children rescued from an underground fighting ring’, but that also didn’t sound like something that actually existed. He supposed it didn’t matter all that much. The charity was getting a huge ‘fuck off sized’ donation and T&V investments was getting a boon in public opinion, something they desperately needed.
Those two facts were not nearly as (literally) pressing as a third fact was. The third fact: Aegon was absolutely fucking squeezed into his suit.
He hadn’t worn the blasted thing since he’d gone to his nephew Jace’s graduation from prep school-the same prep school all the boys in their family went to, so Aegon really hadn’t understood why he needed to attend. He’d much rather have sent Jace some shitty drugstore card with a check in it and slept until the early afternoon. But he did have to go to the stupid thing, sweating and squinting in the early summer sun like a fucking idiot.
In last summer's sun, more specifically. A lot of things had happened since then.
1: Aegon had attempted to quit smoking (twice) and had picked it back up (twice).
2: A new Braavosi restaurant that operated mostly in take-out had opened exactly one block from his apartment.
3: His younger brother had begun a kickboxing class at his university’s gym.
Two of those things were directly related to the state of Aegon's suit; he tended to graze and snack when he wasn’t smoking, and nothing was better for nicotine cravings than a full stomach. In service of that goal, Braavosi food was surprisingly heavy for seafood-it worked even better than ice cream, leaving him calm and sleepy rather than sugared and jittery.
The third thing that happened was still related to the bite and squeeze of his suit, but in a slightly more indirect way.
Aemond’s kickboxing class shouldn’t have affected him at all, but it did, in a way. It affected Aegon because when Aemond talked about it, he got the most shit eating little smirk, and Aegon had to sit across from him at the weekly family dinners their father insisted upon and look at his stupid pointy face. Something in Aegon just filled up with spite at the sight of that smirk (or self loathing or jealousy or loneliness, or some disgusting cocktail of all of those feelings topped off with some delicious ‘I wish mother was that attentive to what I say’ sprinkles), and sometimes that spite drove him to take thirds of supper and seconds of dessert, just for the satisfaction of catching a split second of disgust on his brothers face. It was fine. That’s normal and fine and extremely regular, well adjusted behavior.
So, yeah, a few things had happened in the past ten or so months, things which all contributed in some way to the current bite and pinch of Aegon’s suit trousers into his thick hips (Thankfully not into the sensitive flesh of his belly; he’d had to make the executive decision of buttoning the stupid pants underneath it. The surrender would’ve hurt his pride if it hadn’t been in tatters for years already.), the uncomfortable snugness of the jacket around his shoulders and upper arms, and the faint creaks of strain ominously issued by his shirt buttons.
But he’d wiggled into the gods-be-damned thing and shown up, because his mother had bitched (not that convincing) and his grandfather had given him that sharp Hightower glare that made Aegon want to wet his pants and curl up underneath his bed like a 23-year-old toddler (very convincing).
At the very least, the suit biting into parts of his body that should never be bitten-nonconsensually, at least-was by far the most intolerable part of the night. Haunting the edges of the rented ballroom and periodically flagging down the prettiest waitresses wasn’t the worst way to spend an evening. Seven hells, he’s had worse times at other T&V events (The yacht party of two years ago had been particularly disastrous-Aegon had slipped the bartender a ten moon note in return for never cutting him off, told Helaena that she looked like an egg in her all white blouse and skirt set, then violently upchucked over the side of the boat. Just another addition to ‘Aegon’s Greatest Hits; Familial Humiliation Edition’.)
Maybe he was being a bit of a bitch about it all-sue him.
Or maybe sue him because when he turned around from snagging a canapé (or two, or three, fuck off) from a waitress with tits like life preservers, he turned right into the path of the receptionist he’d thought about every time he’d stroked the ol’ dragon for at least three months.
Oh. Oh fuck.
In all honesty, being around her made Aegon feel a little bit like an HR disaster-in-waiting. He just couldn’t help himself from sidling up close (far too close for a professional environment, but it wasn’t like Aegon had a real position at T&V anyway) and saying the first thing that popped into his mind-which was usually some variation of a come-on paired with a backhanded compliment.
He couldn’t help it. He liked the way she would look at him, then away, then back to him, how she’d shift and shrug him off but didn’t get genuinely upset, how sometimes-not often, but sometimes-he made her laugh, and Aegon couldn’t decide if that sound made his heart or his cock warm faster.
“This is like, super lavish, huh?”
She was looking at him, expecting a response-undoubtedly taking in his handful of appetizers and straining suit and alcohol-flushed cheeks. Aegon nodded, swallowing down both the mouthful of canapé and the sudden dryness in his mouth. Gods, did she just fucking materialize there?
“I mean, it’s for the kids in fighting cages, y’know? They…need money, I guess. To get out of the cages.”
That was stupid. He was pleasantly tipsy, sure, but certainly not intoxicated enough to spout garbage like that. He wasn’t even sure that was what the event was for.
He watched her expression settle into a look somewhere in the valley between confusion and amusement, then shoved the second canapé into his mouth.

Every Meal is Shared With You Now and Forever
Bún Bò Huế at Tương Lai (Cabramatta) | 1 August
It's nothing new under the sun to write about how love and food are entwined. How preparing a meal, the deliberate act of taking someone to a restaurant that you enjoy, the times when the scent of a familiar flavour sends you into a wave of emotions... A humanity that has been forever. It's what really made me want to start writing more, although I fear reproducing half-baked diaspora musings. But maybe that's why I do want to record it, precisely because of its eternal and intrinsic nature that transcends time and fuses communities together.
My grandma passed away on Sunday, and food has not tasted the same since. She was my third parent, and my constant. Until the last day that she could stand she would cook lunch and dinner for everyone. After school and work, the first thing that she would ask is whether I was having dinner. Almost without missing a day, she would cook for us. My gut wrenches from remembering the times when I declined and said I would eat later. The times that I've told her I was going out for dinner and her subsequent dejected mood. More than anything, I had declined her act of love. I deserve to feel this terrible, brokenhearted remorse.
She grew up learning to cook with her eyes and her nose. Being the fourth daughter of a Chinese immigrant in British occupied Malaysia, she was prohibited from getting an education by her father. She was basically illiterate, bar the few Chinese characters and basic English words she had to teach herself. I had always considered myself fortunate to be able to indulge in a cuisine many had only later been introduced to. A cuisine that was an almagation of Indian immigrants, Malay locals, many generations of Chinese-Malays and even the influence of British and Portuguese colonisers. She would pound her own spices for curries, cook herbal soups when we came into flu season. So much knowledge through simply absorbing the world around her. Learning the only way she really knew how. I loved her sambal which she would use on a variety of dishes. Nasi lemak. Fried okra. Fried fish. She really loved golden, deep fried delicacies. She introduced me to what Westerners would consider more "challenging" foods. Liver, blood jelly, tripe. I feel so lucky to be able to appreciate these foods. When I had a 2 year vegetarian stint, she would take the effort to cook me a separate dish with no meat. I'm honestly glad I started to eat meat again so I could taste her original cooking before it was too late. I should have known that through her cooking and her hours of preparation, her commitment to make sure we were fed were all intrinsic acts of love. I will never be able to taste it again. I will never be able to repay it.
I ate this bún bò huế after visiting the temple where my family and I have now decided to place her ashes. I had been crying until my eyes had become swollen, and looked bee-stung. I was weepy, still, when they brought this soup noodle out. While it was delicious with its spicy tang and careful notes of fermented seafood, like most of the meals I've had since, it was dampened by the flavour of grief. The thought of being unable to share this with her dulled the usual melody of aromas I would get from that first taste of the soup. If she were with me, I would have asked for a separate little bowl for her to try the silky noodles and bits of Vietnamese ham. Now and until forever, I thought, I could not ever return those acts of care to her. So from that day I promised that every meal is shared with her. I will think of her in every bowl of noodle soup, every bite of curry, even whatever bland work lunch I may have. Tonight is the 7th day since her death, so I poured us a glass of her favourite beer (Guiness) and we served her a little plate of our dinner on the makeshift altar in her room and I feel a little better about it all.

The Holiday
While I had tea:
As I sit here on the balcony of my room, nestled somewhere in the south of Thailand, I can feel the end of this uneventful holiday creeping closer. I've been reflecting on what has passed, wondering what the actions of these days have brought me, aside from my usual paranoia that, despite everything, things will turn out fine in the end.
My laundry has yet to arrive. I sent it off early this morning, but I was informed—unfortunately—that it wouldn’t be ready until the evening. So now, I wait. A drone zipped by a moment ago, catching my attention. I paused to stare at it, wondering if its owner was nearby. And just as quickly, it was gone again.
I'm writing this simply to pass the time. Here I am, alone on the third floor, with the accommodations kindly fulfilling my request for a quiet room. Let me make some tea—oh, I just did. I suppose I’m not entirely alone, though; I think I still have neighbors.
It’s Christmas Day, by the way. The pool downstairs looks inviting—I might take a dip later tonight. My tea bag slipped into my cup just now, but it doesn’t matter much. Another time, I’d like to stay here longer, rent a motorbike, and properly explore the area. I didn’t even bother to book an island-hopping trip, as most tourists do.
This afternoon's sunset might outshine the one I saw when I first arrived. But to care about which is better seems pointless—all sunsets are beautiful in their own way. It’s just a matter of the clouds that frame them and the stillness of the sea reflecting their glow.
Half of the cup:
To add to my yapping, I realized I had been left with nothing but my boxers and a hobo shirt to wear, an amusing predicament as I searched for a late lunch. I shrugged it off—after all, I’m a tourist here. Nobody would give it a second thought. The real challenge, however, was finding food.
Interestingly, everything around here is halal, and seafood is surprisingly inexpensive. It makes sense, given how close we are to the sea, with seaports and fishing docks likely scattered nearby. Most other things are priced at what feels like half their usual cost—except for the items clearly tailored for Western tourists.
I eventually dined at a modest Indian-Eastern restaurant just a short walk from my accommodations. The food was good, and the price fair. As I savored the meal, I realized that, despite everything, I was in a position of comfort—a feeling I couldn’t always claim in the past.
Sure, my lingering encumbrances and unresolved issues still hover like ghosts in the background, but here I am. Somehow, I’ve managed to put them aside long enough to irresponsibly book a holiday trip, fly halfway across the world, and spend money on something purely indulgent. For now, that’s enough.
Last sip:
The prices, I realized, were a tad more expensive than they should be—perhaps a small tourist tax on everything. But that thought, like so many others, wandered off in the maze of my muddled mind, as miserable as its author. Even words seem to betray me these days.
As I sat there, another thought struck me: maybe this is the time to follow through on something I’ve been mulling over for a while. Perhaps I’ll finish this trip, return, and file my resignation. It’s been a year now with the company—a year filled with memories, friendships, and a genuine sense of belonging. I’ve truly loved being part of it. Yet, the idea of walking away and finally pursuing my initial plans of self-supporting feels more and more like the right choice.
2024 has been a year to remember. It came with an abundance of struggles and challenges—far outweighing the fleeting moments of joy. Still, for all its trials, it has also been generous in its lessons. For that, I can’t help but feel thankful, even if it’s a gratitude laced with weariness.
My neighbors seem to have returned from their day’s tour; the faint murmur of voices confirms I’m not entirely alone. As I take another sip from my cup and nibble on the leftover falafel from lunch, my thoughts return to the wait for my laundry. It can’t arrive soon enough—I just want to shower and feel clean again.
And then there’s Bangkok, where I’ll head next. I can only hope the weather there stays below 20 degrees—a wish as improbable as it is wistful. With the New Year drawing near, so too looms the end of December, this trip, and perhaps, a chapter of my life.
What a bummer, though, that my flight tomorrow is so late in the evening. I can already foresee the exhaustion waiting for me when I arrive.
...
When it turns a bit darker, I’ll head to the pool. Or perhaps I’ll wait for my bloody laundry to arrive first. It’s already 6 p.m., and they did say it should be ready by now. Maybe I should give the front desk a call—let me get a hold of that.
...
Guess what? My laundry won’t arrive until 8 p.m. Lovely. I complain, but it’s not worth making a fuss over. Still, it’s another reminder of how plans often drift away from the schedules we’re promised.
Something I’ve noticed about myself lately: I’ve slowly grown detached and quiet—not just over the past few weeks, but ever since I moved abroad. Maybe this was inevitable. Back then, I was always too available, making everyone else’s life and schedules my priority, constantly compromising my own. Now, it feels like I’ve swung to the other extreme.
You see how I jump from one topic to another? That’s how scattered my thoughts are, like a mad tangle of strings pulling in every direction.
My accommodations sit across from another building of the same purpose, but their balconies face west, catching the sunsets, while mine looks toward the limestone wall that lines the town’s border. It’s probably there to shield the area from gusts and storms when they come—a natural fortification.
Back to me. I think this solitude suits me—or perhaps I’ve convinced myself it does. In truth, I’ve orchestrated this self-exile, a form of isolation that feels almost deliberate. I’ve become a functionally depressive recluse, overly independent yet vulnerable, a sheep trying to wear the guise of a wolf. That famous phrase about a wolf in sheep’s clothing comes to mind, except here, the dynamic feels inverted.
Maybe there’s a reason for this—or some purpose this self-exile will serve in the grander scheme of my growth. I don’t know. What I do know is that I’ve almost entirely withdrawn from communication, limiting myself to those I deem reachable. Even then, I often find myself feeling alone, surrounded by what now feels like a carefully crafted façade I call relationships.

Path to HACCP Certification in Ensuring Food Safety Excellence
Tumblr media
Introduction
HACCP Certification in Moldova - In the ever-evolving landscape of the food industry, ensuring the safety of the products we consume is paramount. One globally recognized system that stands as a beacon of food safety excellence. This certification, designed to analyze and control potential hazards from production to consumption, holds immense significance for businesses across the food supply chain.
Understanding HACCP
The Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) is not just an acronym; it's a comprehensive approach to food safety management. It delves into the identification and control of biological, chemical, and physical hazards associated with food production, manufacturing, distribution, and consumption. Unlike a one-size-fits-all solution, HACCP Certification tailors its requirements to the specific regulations of a given area and the nature of the food business. While juice and seafood businesses typically require HACCP systems, dairy businesses may opt for alternative, voluntary programs. The flexibility offered by HACCP allows businesses to align their practices with both regulatory standards and consumer expectations.
Importance of HACCP Certification
Why is HACCP certification so crucial? Beyond meeting regulatory standards, this certification showcases an individual's or business's commitment to understanding and implementing the HACCP process. By pinpointing potential issues in food safety and proactively devising methods to prevent hazards, HACCP not only safeguards consumer health but also shields a company's reputation. It's not uncommon for managerial roles in establishments like restaurants and supermarkets dealing with specific products to require HACCP training. This training, encompassing hazard analysis and critical control, elevates the competency of professionals, fostering a culture of food safety within the organization.
Steps to Obtain HACCP Certification
Complete Training Courses
Embarking on the journey to HACCP Implementation in Myanmar begins with foundational training. Basic courses on food safety provide the necessary knowledge, while advanced training enhances skills and boosts employability. Online platforms offer convenient access to comprehensive training modules, covering everything from general food safety awareness to the intricacies of HACCP implementation.
Prepare for a Food Safety Audit
Engaging with a third-party auditor is the next step. This professional assists in selecting suitable personnel for the food safety team and reviews mandatory documentation. Collaboration between the business and the auditor ensures alignment with HACCP standards.
Complete the First Part of the Audit
The audit process comprises two parts. The initial phase assesses the company's readiness and management standards against HACCP Audit in Russia criteria. Nonconformance areas are identified, guiding the preparation for the second part.
Finish the Second Part of the Audit
A more in-depth review follows, ensuring that previously identified issues have been adequately addressed. The closing meeting with the food safety manager involves a verbal discussion of inspection findings, recommendations for certification, and any follow-up requirements.
Surveillance Audit
The journey doesn't end with certification; a surveillance phase lasting approximately two years monitors ongoing compliance with the HACCP plan. This iterative approach ensures that businesses continually adhere to the standards set during the initial audit.
Conclusion
In a world where consumer trust and safety are non-negotiable, the HACCP Consultants in Philippines serves as a badge of honor for those committed to delivering quality food products. Embracing the HACCP journey is not just a regulatory requirement; it's a proactive step towards building a resilient and responsible food business. By understanding the importance of HACCP, investing in quality training, and navigating the certification process diligently, businesses can not only meet standards but also exceed expectations in the realm of food safety.

The Benefits of Restaurants in Promoting Food Sustainability
The culinary landscape is evolving rapidly in response to the growing concern about food sustainability. In a world grappling with issues like climate change and food security, the role of restaurants in promoting sustainability is gaining prominence. While the concept of sustainable dining isn't new, it has gained new life and meaning in recent years. In this article, we'll explore the multifaceted relationship between restaurants and food sustainability without mentioning any specific restaurant names. We'll also discuss how these principles apply in a city like Perth, Australia, often considered a hub for sustainable dining.
Tumblr media
Food Sustainability: A Global Imperative
In an era marked by global challenges such as climate change, dwindling natural resources, and a surging world population, the imperative for food sustainability has never been more evident. At its core, sustainability in the context of food entails practices that ensure the production and consumption of food do not compromise the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. It is a commitment to minimizing waste, conserving resources, and ensuring that the entire food supply chain operates with minimal environmental impact.
Restaurants, as integral components of the food supply chain, play a crucial role in advocating and practicing food sustainability.
Reducing Food Waste
Food waste is a significant issue worldwide. A third of all food produced worldwide, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), is lost or wasted. Restaurants can be at the forefront of combatting food waste, as they are positioned at the end of the supply chain where waste often occurs. By optimizing portion sizes, managing inventory efficiently, and creatively utilizing food scraps, restaurants contribute to a reduction in food waste. This not only reduces environmental impact but also alleviates the pressure on landfills.
In Perth, as in many other cities, the best restaurants prioritize waste reduction, often employing innovative techniques such as composting, recycling, and collaborations with local farms to ensure that even food scraps are put to good use.
Supporting Local and Sustainable Agriculture
The best restaurants in Perth have embraced the concept of farm-to-table dining. This approach promotes sustainability by reducing the carbon footprint associated with transporting food over long distances. Supporting local and sustainable agriculture has a twofold benefit: it encourages small-scale local farmers and ensures that the food on your plate is fresher, often free from harmful pesticides and preservatives.
By sourcing ingredients locally, restaurants promote the use of seasonal produce, which, in turn, supports the principles of sustainability. This practice helps preserve biodiversity, minimize the need for synthetic chemicals, and protect local ecosystems.
Menu Innovation and Diversity
Sustainable restaurants are adept at menu innovation. They introduce patrons to a wider array of foods and ingredients that may not be typically found in mainstream cuisine. By diversifying their menus, these restaurants encourage the cultivation and consumption of a broader range of crops, thus contributing to biodiversity and reducing the environmental strain of monoculture farming.
In Perth, the best restaurants are particularly noted for their menu diversity, often featuring a delightful blend of traditional and exotic ingredients. This diversity promotes sustainable agriculture by creating demand for a wider variety of crops.
Ethical Sourcing and Responsible Fishing
Another crucial aspect of food sustainability in restaurants is the ethical sourcing of seafood and animal products. Restaurants play a significant role in discouraging unsustainable fishing practices and promoting responsible, traceable sourcing. By adhering to strict standards and certifications, they ensure that the seafood they serve is harvested without depleting the ocean's resources.
Additionally, responsible sourcing extends to meat and dairy products, where restaurants can opt for suppliers who practice ethical animal husbandry, reducing the environmental and ethical concerns associated with industrial farming.
Energy Efficiency and Green Initiatives
Sustainability isn't limited to food sourcing and waste reduction. The best restaurants in Perth take their commitment to sustainability further by investing in energy-efficient appliances, reducing water usage, and adopting green initiatives. These actions lower their carbon footprint and contribute to the conservation of natural resources.
Educational Initiatives
Restaurants have the power to influence consumer behavior. The best restaurants use this influence to educate patrons about the importance of sustainable dining practices. Through menus, signage, and interactions with diners, they raise awareness about the environmental impact of food choices and encourage responsible consumption.
Educational initiatives in Perth often include partnerships with local schools and organizations, providing workshops on sustainable food practices, and hosting events to promote food sustainability within the community.
Climate Change and Food Resistant Agriculture
As climate change continues to affect global agriculture, restaurants that champion sustainability are better equipped to adapt to changing circumstances. They are resilient in the face of crop disruptions, sourcing locally and embracing adaptable menus that can accommodate fluctuating ingredient availability.
Economic Benefits
Embracing food sustainability isn't just about environmental consciousness; it also brings economic advantages. Restaurants that adopt sustainable practices often experience increased customer loyalty, better relationships with suppliers, and reduced operating costs due to minimized waste and energy efficiency. Moreover, they contribute to a positive image that attracts patrons and positive media attention.
Conclusion
The role of restaurants in promoting food sustainability is indispensable. The best restaurants in Perth, like those around the world, are contributing to a more sustainable future by reducing food waste, supporting local agriculture, and advocating responsible sourcing. These establishments have a unique opportunity to educate and influence their patrons positively. Through their efforts, they demonstrate that dining can be an environmentally responsible and ethically sound experience, leading the way for a more sustainable culinary landscape.
As patrons, we can also play our part by choosing restaurants that prioritize food sustainability and making informed choices about what we consume. By doing so, we can collectively make a significant impact on the journey toward a more sustainable food future.

The Bluegrass Hospitality Group responded to a class-action lawsuit alleging tip and wage theft by claiming the employee who filed the complaint was never employed by the restaurant chain.
In April, an employee filed a class-action lawsuit against Drake’s, which is owned by Bluegrass Hospitality Group, headquartered in Lexington. The lawsuit alleges widespread violations involving the failure to uphold federal minimum wage standards across all 23 of its restaurant and bar locations.
The lawsuit was filed by Lauren Boyer, who claims she was a worker at the Cookeville, Tenn., restaurant on behalf of herself and other bartenders and servers. She claims in the suit BHG did not provide servers and bartenders with the legally required notice regarding the use of a tip credit toward their wages.
A month after the initial filing, in May, the restaurant responded to the claims and denied most of the complaint’s allegations — including the employment of the woman who filed suit.
BHG owns and operates Drake’s locations in Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Indiana, Alabama, North Carolina and Illinois.
“Plaintiffs claims are barred, in whole or in part, because (BHG) did not employ plaintiffs,” attorneys for BHG wrote. Throughout their response to the complaint, attorneys for BHG repeatedly stated Boyer was not an employee of the restaurant.
Defense attorney LaToi D. Mayo requested the court render judgment in favor of Drake’s and dismiss the complaint in its entirety with prejudice.
Attorneys for either party were not immediately available for comment on Monday morning. It is unclear if Boyer was an employee of Drake’s.
What the complaint against Drake’s alleges
The complaint alleges that Drake’s compensated its employees below the federal minimum wage while requiring them to perform non-tipped duties for more than 20% of their work week.
Some of these duties include sweeping, mopping, rolling silverware and other side work where employees are not being tipped.
Federal law prohibits employers from taking a tip credit when an employee performs tip-supporting work and non-tip-generating duties for more than 20% of their work week.
According to the suit, Drake’s bartenders and servers are required to work for nearly an hour to set up and close the restaurants, clean and prepare tables and organize their sections.
Boyer represents herself and two collectives which allege federal minimum wage violations. The Nationwide Substantial Side Work Collective and Nationwide 80/20 Collective are other plaintiffs listed in the suit. The lawsuit seeks compensation for unpaid wages and damages.
Other wage and tip theft lawsuits against Lexington restaurants
Drake’s is the third Lexington restaurant to face lawsuits over payment practices involving tipped employees.
A lawsuit was announced against Jeff Ruby’s in February for alleged wage and tip theft.
The lawsuit said the defendants took a portion of the tips earned by servers and bartenders and shared the money with back-of-house employees “who did not earn the tips and who did not interact with customers.”
Tony’s Steak and Seafood restaurant agreed to pay $1.5 million as part of a settlement involving employees in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio locations.
The employees alleged the restaurant violated the Fair Labor Standards Act by forcing them and other tipped employees to participate in a tip pool that gave portions of tips to salaried members of management, according to federal court documents and settlement information.
The Tony’s settlement resolved claims for 79 servers in Kentucky, 42 servers in Ohio and 52 servers in Indiana, according to David Garrison, lead attorney in the two cases. In total, the award for plaintiffs in Kentucky was $546,237.65 — more than Indiana and Ohio’s settlement amounts combined.
The average recovery for a class member who participates in the server settlement is $5,250. The largest settlement recovery is more than $35,000, according to court documents.

Sir (lustfellswap sans): Sir is a flamboyant, loud, boisterous and confident monster. He loves throwing his weight and name around and is generous with his money around those he loves. He’s quite the party monster, even the prudes can’t help but like him and his cheerful personality. Don’t let that fool you though, he’s a brilliant business monster. Also he’s not above fighting dirty to get what he wants.
Sir is the owner of a host club/brothel under the disguise of a restaurant. This may be illegal in ebott, but police turn a blind eye cause of how helpful he’s been in passing on information about traffickers and drug rings. Plus his “employees” are well paid, have benefits, and are all of legal age.
Weasel (Lustswapfell papyrus): Like his nickname suggests, weasel is a mischievous and chaotic character. He loves causing problems through spreading rumors and sharing secrets. He’s not to be trusted by acquaintances but to close friends he’s a useful ally. Weasel can come across as childish and a bit airheaded. He’s easily distracted by the next shiny thing, but when focused, is amazingly talented at whatever he does.
He is one of the “waiters” at the brothel. He works as a host bringing people in and matching them with the “employees”. He also occasionally takes his own clients if they pay well enough
Butler (lustgold sans): Butler is a stoic, polite and gentle monster. He’s very patient and takes a lot to anger or even annoy. Some say he has the patience of a saint. However when crossed, his temper is legendary. He isn’t one for wasted talk and only speaks when he has something important to say. So when he does talk, every one listens. And yes, he’s quite sassy when he wants to be.
Butler was a hired hitman in the underground, and is now the security at sir's brothel. He occasionally takes clients too if specifically asked for, but only when he has a good replacement to play guard. He is also Sir's informant.
Gold (lustgold paps): Gold has two modes: passionate, chatty, bright and flirtatious, or he’s awkward, stuttery and clumsy. No in between. Gold is confident when he knows what to expect. His “work personality” is that of the typical lust monster, flirty and social. When he’s being open or honest though, he shows off his awkward and insecure softy side. He’s quite cute either way
Gold is a dab hand at numbers and helps sit with the budget of the brothel. He also decorates the desserts when inspiration strikes or when pesto needs help. He takes clients pretty often as well if his other two duties aren’t busy that evening.
Flambé (lustred sans): Flambé is a real spitfire! He’s sassy, a bit aggressive and very spicy in his language and flirting lol. He knows his worth and his self love can come across as self absorbed to those who don’t know him well. He’s very introverted despite the confidence, and needs time each day to unwind on his own
Flambé is an entertainer and dancer at the brothel first, and a prostitute second. So any clients hoping for him better shell out the big bucks if they want to see him off stage. Flambé knows his worth.
Pesto (lustred papyrus): Pesto is quiet and reserved. He used to be a confident monster like Flambé, but after the attack that scarred his face, he’s “lost” his good looks and self esteem. He’s rather sensitive and hides it behind an aloof and disinterested mask. He’s intensely loyal to his found family and acts as the moral compass, scolding them when they go too far.
The brothel actually does serve food. And pesto is the head chef. His food is amazing. He serves a Mediterranean style menu with mostly chicken and seafood as the proteins. He even got his third star last year. Sir and flambé have tried convincing him to leave and start his own restaurant cause of his skill, but pesto loves his little makeshift family and won’t be moved. He never takes clients.
Partner (Underwest sans): Partner is a very serious monster, he rarely smiles and hearing a laugh from him is like seeing gold fall out of the sky. If duty was a soul trait, he’d have it. He always keeps his promises, even if it kills him. While he can be grumpy and temperamental, he has a soft spot for the gentle and innocent, and is a good protector to any of his loved ones.
Partner works as the sheriff in Goldenvalley, hunting down criminals.as there’s only one police station and it’s a lot of land to cover, he works very hard at his job. On the side he also trains raptors for a bit of extra gold.
Rowdy (Underwest papyrus): Rowdy is a cheerful, eager to please and clumsy fellow. He’s been rather sheltered by his mother for most of his life, so some things that may be common sense to most he hasn’t learned yet. He wears his heart on his sleeve and is a delight to be around with how affectionate he is. However he’s very gullible, making partner very protective of him.
Rowdy is partners apprentice, learning the art of training raptors. His job is just a placeholder though until he can get into an animals medicine program. His dream us to become a veterinarian.
Stitches (baubletale sans): Stitches is…. Well he’s a character. He’s an eccentric monster who seems to adore the strangest things, yet is bored by others that the majority of people consider important. He struggles a bit with boundaries having been pretty isolated most of his life. He’s sweet and cuddly, but sensitive as well can can have his feelings hurt easily. Many perceive him as childish due to his personality, but he’s plenty capable.
Stitches is a voice actor!! His father had saved many tapes of old cartoons, movies and audio books for his sons before his passing. Stitches idolized many of the characters, learning to copy their voices and getting quite good at it. Nowadays he has a gig as a voice actor for a popular kids cartoon. He’s voices the sidekick, love interest and the little brother of the show.
Tinker (baubletale papyrus): Tinker is a monster of few words. He’s always got his head in the clouds daydreaming about this and that and has trouble staying on track in long conversations. However when talking to a creation he’s possessing, he’s quite focused responding easier. He’s a very calm monster and is good at keeping his cool in scary situations.
Tinker owns an online shop where he sells crochet, embroidery and knit wear. Everything is an original piece, he never makes the same item twice. And he takes commissions! He also has a side hustle as a dishwasher for a restaurant he does on weekends. He of course sends a creation to do it as he hates the feeling of wet food on his hands.
Pearl (hadaltale sans): Pearl is a gentle and affectionate soul. Pearl was raised as royalty and has a strong sense of duty from her upbringing. She has lovely manners. She’s a bit skittish at times though, and has a lot of anxiety over trying new things. She tends to cling to those she deems safe. She has very little experience with the surface
As one of the princes lined up to potentially take their place, pearls duties lie in management. She organizes events for Atlantis, manages finances, and spends a lot of time in the records hall. She has a reputation among the hadal princes for hosting the best meetings due to her budgeting skills
Silex (hadaltale papyrus): Silex is a confident monster. He’s quite outgoing and friendly, making him a natural leader in any friend group. He has an eye for the shy weak ones in the group and tends to focus on them. He has a strong sense of duty being raised in the royal family. He can be overconfident at times though, believing he can achieve unrealistic goals, and his family often has to being him back down to earth.
As one of the princes lined up to potentially take his parents place, silex’s duties lie mostly in management. He has a good eye for people and is often in charge of hiring and managing the employees of Atlantis’ court as well as managing their work. He is also often taken to business deals.
Taffy (flavortale sans): Taffy is a motherly kind monster who seems to adopt anyone who enjoys her foods. She’s a both a scientist and artist dedicated to the art of creating new flavors and textures with sugar! Shes incredibly creative! She’s affectionate and enjoys the company of her loved ones, but can be a bit overbearing when it comes to wanting to baby them. It’s quite funny given how most of said friends are much larger than her, but she finds a way.
Taffy owns a prestigious candy shop in inner ebott with her sister and best friends. They’re a four monster team determined to amaze everyone’s minds with how delicious their sugary treats are! She’s also leased out some of her more popular recipies and treats to be mass produced and sold in mellowmarts around ebott.
Pudding (flavortale papyrus): Pudding is a total babe. A very spunky kind and goofy skeleton who loves a bit of soft teasing and jokes. She’s one of the only papyrus’s who enjoys puns. She looks up a lot to taffy and is determined to live up to her sisters reputation although she has no talent for cooking. She’s a flirt, but panics when they flirt back. She’s very easily flustered. All bark no bite
Pudding works at her sisters candy shop as a cashier, stocker and taste tester. She has zero talent for cooking but an amazing taste palate so she’s trusted to confirm if the new candies are any good. Pudding wants to become a professional food critic someday but needs to build up a reputation first in the culinary field.
I’m looking at some of my old posts and have realized that a lot of the character descriptions aren’t very accurate with how I write the characters now. So I’ll be be redoing each skeledudes general personality description (and job description) and reblogging this post each day until I have all of them ;)
Sans: He’s our typical lazy and punny guy! Sans is a real people’s man and has friends and connections all over. Despite finding across as a charismatic extrovert, he’s actually very introverted and enjoys his friends in controlled doses. Sans is a playful prankster at heart. His favorite reactions from his victims is the face of blank confusion as they witness his quiet little acts of chaos. Sans is a very guarded monster who doesn’t typically show a lot of emotion beyond surface level. It takes a long time to earn enough trust for him to open up. A long long time. Sans is also a scholar at heart. The only time you’ll ever see him truly work is when something is interesting enough for him to feel passionate about
His job is a nuclear engineer! Sans is researching ways to combine nuclear energy with magic to make safer and cleaner energy sources
Papyrus: he’s the true definition of an optimist. Papyrus can always see the best in any person or situation. Because of this, people may think that he’s naive. He isn’t, he just stays strong to his ideals and is stubborn enough to ignore any criticism. Papyrus lives for seeing his friends and family succeed. In fact, he’s at his happiest when he makes others happy. This makes him the ultimate cheerleader friend. Pair that with a very empathetic and observant personality, and you have a guy who can get along with almost anyone. However, his passion is also his greatest flaw. When papyrus gets really into something, he sometimes doesn’t see the risks involved and will continue on to that goal regardless. He’s impulsive
For his job, he owns an escape room! It’s actually several different rooms: a large main room, four smaller surrounding ones, the lobby, and a medium room for parties. The puzzles and themes of the rooms change every other month
Star (underswap sans): he’s an adorable positive energy ball of PURE EVIL. Ok ok, not true evil of course, but Star is a manipulative little imp. He goes by the rule of: “if you won’t treat me like an adult, then I’m going to take advantage of it.” He’s definitely not above using his looks to get what he wants. With his friends, Star is easygoing and playful. He loves to tease and flirt and prefers friends who can keep up with him. He’s also a bit of a scatterbrain and has a bad habit of taking on more than he can chew. Star is a wonderful motivator but has issues with being too pushy if he feels like his friend isn’t progressing fast enough.
His job is in the police force as a detective and SAR (search and rescue). His main priority is finding missing persons and taking out human trafficking rinks
Honey (underswap papyrus): honey is a total sweetheart. He can be pretty shy and anxious when you first meet him, but if you’re nice, he’s quick to latch on and adopt you into his friend group. When he’s comfortable, he’s a very chill and playful guy. He has a raging motherly streak and doesn’t realize sometimes that he’s nagging. Honey is a romantic at heart and just wants someone he can be sappy with. He does get very clingy since he assumes that most people are only around him because of Star. Don’t mess with his kitchen. He’s a total nerd and will happily fixate on almost any fandom with his friends
His job is an online translator. He mostly does written legal documents but also sometimes acts at the translator for zoom meetings. Honey prefers to work from home

Golden Rod
(inspired by Golden MV)
Author: @ihearthes Pairing: Harry x Reader Insert (2nd person) Rating: Smut (18+ only) Word Count: 2829
“Thanks for the ride, Ryan!” you call, waving at Lambert’s assistant as he drives away to the garages on the Vesta. “Ciao!”
Excited to show Harry your new lingerie, you enter the villa where the team has been staying. “Is he done for the day, Ben?” The words are muffled behind the cloth mask you’ve insisted is essential despite the drop in Italy’s coronavirus cases.
The Fulwell 73 producer points upstairs without a word before bending over the video footage he’s scouring with the director. The opulent surroundings have been modernized, and you grin while mounting the stairs to the top floor where the master suite consumes the entire space. From the expansive open windows, you view the Tyrrhenian Sea, causing you to literally pinch yourself. How had life blessed you in such a way? Giddy, you continue up the stone steps.
Kicking off your sandals, you curl your toes into the cool, smooth tile. Fuck. This had been the perfect day. Swimming in the infinity pool during the morning with endless fresh fruits at your fingertips whenever you stepped out of the water to feel the warm sun on your skin. A socially distanced lunch of Insalata Di Mare Campanese (Seafood Salad) with Molly in a local restaurant. A trip to the stores with the adorable stylist Ryan -- where he’d introduced you to a new designer of gloriously sexy lingerie!
You’d bought four pieces.
Harry was going to love all of them, and you couldn’t wait to showcase them in your own private fashion show on the secure top floor of the Italian villa.
Stopping in the marbled bathroom, you draw in a deep breath at the chill on your heated feet. Quickly, you wash your hands, singing “Happy Birthday” twice like you’d been taught to ensure 20 seconds has elapsed. No way were you going to be responsible for inadvertently passing along the virus to your boyfriend during the Golden music video shoot. He’d end up missing out on filming the music video and the upcoming Don’t Worry Darling if he tested positive. Carefully removing your mask, you toss it into the laundry hamper before washing your hands a second time.
Tiptoeing out of the bath, you wonder where the man of the hour might be. Napping? Nope. Not in the bed. On the loggia, you spy Harry settled in a chair, staring into space.
“Can’t blame you, Styles. That’s one hell of a view.” Gazing over the colorful boats moored in the sea near the coast, your eyes feast on the sky with its tints of reds, pinks, yellows, and oranges as the sun begins to sink into the water. Honestly, you expect to hear a sizzle as the bright ball of gases descends into the blue serenity of the sea.
“Indeed.” His quiet voice doesn’t sound normal for Harry, and you approach slowly, like one might a wounded deer. Wouldn’t want to frighten him away.
“Harry!” The gasp leaves your throat, and you press your hand to your mouth to capture the sound too late as it has already escaped. “What the hell happened to your knee?”
He shrugs, finally glancing in your direction. “Skinned it. Hi, love. Did you have a good day?”
“I had a beautiful day, but what the fuck did you do to your knee?” Crouching down, you examine the spot where blood is flowing. It’s not an overwhelming amount, but enough that you want to clean it. “My poor baby,” you coo, “Let me clean that for you.”
Rising, you glide to the bathroom again.
“Bring some ice too, love,” he requests, tacking on a “please” at the last minute.
Stopping in the suite’s tiny kitchen, you search the small freezer for ice as requested. Ransacking the cabinets in the bathroom, you manage to locate cotton balls, an antiseptic, and a bandage. Returning to Harry, you kneel at his feet. “This might sting a bit.” Cautiously, you cover the cotton ball with the antiseptic and press it to his wound.
He winces, but the only sound he releases is a mild hiss.
“Sorry, baby.”
“It’s not a big deal, love.”
As the blood vanishes with its absorption into the cotton ball, you agree with him. The wound is relatively minor. Should form a scab in the next day or so. Carefully, you remove the adhesive from the bandage and press it over the small scratch.
“Don’t worry, darling,” you tease, “you’ll heal soon enough.”
“Gonna run that one into the ground, aren’t you?” he jokes.
“Might as well,” your shrug, grinning. “Don’t worry, H. You’re so golden.” His smile gives away his mirth at the pun. “Soon enough, you’ll be done filming, and moving on to something else. And I’ll give you hell about whatever the next thing is too.”
“I’d expect nothing less,” he confesses with intense eye contact, and your insides start to flutter.
As an afterthought, you hold up a bag of frozen peas. “No ice, H. I’m so American that I forgot Europeans don’t do much ice. Will this do?”
“Sure.” Grabbing the bag of peas, he smirks before placing it on his crotch.
You raise an eyebrow. “Your dick needs ice?”
His eyes rake over you. “Kind of went running without an athletic supporter today.”
Planting your hands on your hips, you glare at him. “Why would you damage the goods like that?”
Raising his shoulders, he grins, “The fans will love it.”
Your lower lip juts out as you pout at him. “Does that mean it’s off limits to me?”
“It’s sore, love. Not broken.” Harry emphasizes, but that doesn’t make you feel any better.
“But I’ve got lingerie,” you state clearly.
He sits up quickly, shifting the bag of frozen peas on his crotch. “You do?”
“Yep.” You allow the ‘P’ to pop. “Ryan introduced me to a new designer. I bought four sets.”
“Fuck,” he breathes.
“Not with your dick wounded,” you remind him with a tiny hitch in your breathy voice.
“Fuck,” he repeats.
“Should I model the first one or wait until tomorrow?” You’re definitely pushing the envelope here, yet how dare he give fans priority to his most precious bits?!
Eyes darkening, he sweeps his gaze over your light trousers and loose shirt. “Ummmm...now please.”
“Are you sure? Wouldn’t want you to hurt your dick more.”
The exasperated roll of his eyes makes you smile. “I wanna see, love.”
Examining him, you come to the conclusion that he’s an adult and knows what he wants. With a nod, you grasp the handle of the bag from the designer. “Be right back!” Hurrying to the bedroom, you set the bag down before rummaging in it for the most sedate look: a white lacy baby doll bit that hits mid-thigh and comes with a long peignoir. Putting on frilly high heeled slipper with it, you strut in front of him with the robe tightly covering your body, watching as his eyes darken.
“Like this one?”
“Shit, love. It’s…”
When you part the edges to reveal the concoction underneath, Harry has to catch his breath, shifting in the seat as he adjusts the frozen peas.
“Hot?” you taunt.
“Mhm. Come here, and check my temperature.” His voice is throaty, and you recognize the signs quite easily.
“Nope. Three more to go before I get within touching distance, H. Sorry.”
“Dammit,” He mockingly shakes his head. “You know I could easily see all of them on separate nights. Let’s just start with this one.”
Purposely, you push your lip out in a pout. “But then the other lingerie would get jealous, and Ryan went to a lot of effort to get me a private viewing. After all, this stuff isn’t available to the general public.”
“No?” He sighs, and you catch the hitch in his comment. “Bring on the second one then.”
Confidently, you swagger from the room. With shaky hands, you withdraw the bright red lace camisole and boy short. Is this the appropriate one to wear next? The red might just push him over the edge. Best to stay out of his reach then. Smirking, you pull the outfit on and waltz onto the balcony with a twirl, your hair on pointe as its curls bounced with you.
“Holy fuck. That’s the second one?” His strangled cry makes you laugh in joy.
“How’s that cock feeling now?” you gesture in the direction of his crotch.
“The peas have melted I believe.”
“Mhm. Maybe you should go get something else from the freezer then.”
“Nah. I’d rather you come get this bag for me. I might be too injured to walk inside.”
“Oh, you’re so funny. I know this game. I get close to you, and the other two lingerie outfits never see the light of day. Nope. You want more frozen food for your genitals, you can get it yourself.” Laughing, you smack your rounded ass as you amble into the bedroom again.
“Fuck!” Harry yells behind you.
The dialogue combined with the strutting has your pussy feeling damp as the waves of arousal rush over you. Sure you’d fucked last night, but today was a new day, and you wanted to feel that dick inside you -- regardless of the damage he did by jogging in the city for the video.
The third one is pink -- and you’re well aware from experience how much Harry loves pink. The baby doll dress is silk and lands just at the top of your thighs with a black lace bodice that laces in the middle. Kind of laces anyway. Plenty of boob still visible. Or barely hidden. Whichever you prefer.
“Oh my god. You’re killing me!” Harry whines as you parade just out of his reach. When he starts to rise, you shake a finger at him.
“No, no, H. You need to recuperate from running today. Better stay seated.”
He chokes as you twist around to show him all sides, including the g-string with its bare backside.
“You’re evil!” he calls as you dance back into the bedroom.
This is the final one, and you prepare carefully. It takes extra time to put on, and you smile as you observe your image in the room’s mirror. Deftly, you slip a couple of condoms in the bodice of the bralette.
You find a playlist of romantic Italian music and set it to play on the Bluetooth speaker in the bedroom, ensuring the volume is high enough to be heard on the loggia.
Harry gasps the moment he sees you. “You’re not wearing anything under that!”
Playfully you glance down at the last lingerie set. “Oh, damn. I guess when I put the garter skirt and stockings on, I must have forgotten the panties. Forgive me?”
His head bobs up and down as he gulps.
“Now,” you murmur, approaching him. Grasping a pillow from a nearby chair, you plop it on the floor in front of him, settling on your knees there. “I think the best thing is if I take a look at this dick to make sure you didn’t do too much damage.”
Removing the no-longer-frozen peas, you toss the bag to the side. No one will be eating those. Ever. Silently, Harry waits while you carefully peel down the top of his elasticized shorts and remove his cock. You have to catch your breath every time you get to glimpse it, and today is no exception.
Your mouth waters, and you lick your lips as you hold his rigid length in your hand, your eyes flickering up to his where he’s staring intently at you. Maintaining eye contact, you run your tongue over the tip of his cock, paying extra attention to the slit there.
“Mmmm,” you murmur. “The tip seems to be okay. Let me check the length.”
Using your saliva as lubrication, you run your hands down his shaft to his balls. “Doesn’t appear to be broken,” you smirk, “In fact, seems pretty solid and firm to me.”
Harry raises an eyebrow, “Might want to apply some suction there, love, just in case.”
You don’t really care what he means by that last phrase. You’re more than happy to test out the equipment to ensure that it’s in full working order. Spreading his legs more firmly, you lean in, sliding his entire dick into your mouth until the tip hits the back of your throat. Harry grasps the hair at the back of your hand, bunching it in his hand as he guides you along his length. You hear him sigh, and you’re confident he’s tilted his head back and closed his eyes, but when you glance at him, you find that his eyes are still on your lips.
Fuck. It turns you on even more, and you can feel your pussy dripping onto the pillow. You make a mental note to remove the cover and wash it before leaving the villa.
As your lips glide along him, you’re frustrated at not having full access to him. As you apply suction to his tip, you pop off him with an audible sound. Both of your hands reach for the waistband of his shorts, and you gently encourage him -- “Lift your bum, H” -- so you can fully remove the garment, throwing it over your shoulder and hoping it doesn’t sail into the pool below. Harry smiles, adjusting his stance into the biggest man spread you’ve ever seen.
Before you return to your ministrations on his cock, you grasps your chin, drawing your face forward and upwards until he can lock lips with you.
“Not much longer, love, or I’ll explode.”
“I don’t mind,” you purr.
“Mhm. But if we’re fully going to test the equipment, then that should include more than a bj.”
“Ah, I see,” you grin. “But of course. We want to be thorough.”
First, though, you are compelled to play with his balls, so you take him into your mouth again, adding one hand to his length while the fingers on the other play with the balls underneath. Fuck. You could do this all day. Breathing through your nose, you deepthroat him and suck for a solid ten seconds before you release him completely.
With a grin, you stand, kicking aside the pillow. “Hmmmmm...trying to decide the best way to do this.” Your voice has a catch in it, and you wipe your mouth before bending over and capturing his lips in a searing kiss. Tongue darting forward, you taste him, allowing him to suckle your tongue briefly.
As you come up for air, Harry moves his legs together while slipping his hand between yours and nudging your legs apart. With one finger he teases your clit, flicking it from side to side as he watches your face and eases another digit inside you. Oh hell. This feels…
“Fuck, H.”
“You’re so tight, baby. Come sit here. Let’s test out the equipment. Make sure everything works properly.”
At his invitation, you step forward as he shifts his bum down on the chair a bit.
“Shit. I forgot…”
With his words, you remove the first condom from your bralette where it has conveniently been nuzzling your nipple, the hard corner of the foil packet hardening your nip.
Grasping his dick, he uses the tip to slap at your pussy a few times before using your internal juices to lubricate himself. Your eyes roll back into your head as the two of you work together so you can slide onto him without any additional moments wasted.
When you’re fully seated on his dick, you grind just for a moment.
“Hmmmm...seems sturdy enough,” you pant.
“Oh, you’re so funny,” he drawls, but his eyes roll back in his head when you glide along his length, your stockinged thighs surrounded by his large hands. “Fuck, love.”
“Working on it,” you laugh breathlessly as the rhythm becomes easier. His hands move to your arse as he assists you in riding him.
Draping your arms over his shoulders, you shake your tits in his face, and he grins as he bends his head to press a kiss at the juncture of your boobs.
As your climax begins to arrive, your movements become less steady and more sporadic. Harry, knowing you as he does, reaches between your bodies to tease your clit as you throw your head back and cry out two thrusts before his seed spurts into the condom and his eyes roll back into his head. Spent, you collapse on his chest, still joined.
“I think,” you whisper as you kiss his neck while playing with the curls at the nape of your neck, “we can agree that the equipment still works just fine. No damage here.” Picking up your head, you glare at him. “But no more, H! What’s mine is mine. The fans get enough of you.”
He laughs as his arms surround you, and he buries his head in your shoulder.
“Of course, love. Whatever you say.”

Summary: You and Wooyoung have been friends for a year. When you start dating someone else, Wooyoung gets jealous. He decides that two can play that game.
You didn’t make it to the third date often but here you were. This man was older, more mature than you were used to. His name was Zane and he was a few years older than you, with a more established career, his own apartment and car. He checked off on most of your requirements for a man. You liked that he was stable and had his own things. He was independent and he radiated confidence, which you liked. But he wasn’t cocky and wasn’t into showing off the things he had. And you liked that, too.
Your friends said, “You’re so lucky to find a guy that has his shit together!”
You knew that you should be lucky. You were lucky to find a guy when the dating pool was less than desirable and when most guys just wanted one thing. But Zane never tried it with you. He never tried to take you home with him and he hadn’t even tried to kiss you.
Zane took you to your favorite Italian restaurant that night. You realized that Zane paid close attention to you. He remembered that this was your favorite restaurant from your very first date with him. You talked about a bunch of different things; about your college experiences, about your family and friends, and some random things that didn’t really matter. Zane was easy to talk to and he didn’t talk about silly things. He was the most mature guy you’d come across in a while, by far.
You enjoyed your favorite seafood pasta dish and after Zane finished his, he said, “This was good but I know a place that’s even better.”
You smiled and said, “Oh yeah? I’ll be the judge of that.”
Later, on the drive home, you asked, “Do you live far from my place?”
“Maybe around ten, fifteen minutes. Why?”
“I don’t wanna go home yet,” you said, looking at the clock. It was only a little after eight. As far as you were concerned, it was still early and going home now wouldn’t do the night justice. What would you do when you got home? Eat ice cream and watch Netflix in your pajamas? You at least wanted to be in the presence of someone else.
“Do you want to come over for a little while? We could pick up some dessert and some wine. How does that sound?”
You nodded. “That sounds good.”
Zane thought you were good company. You were smart, funny, and you weren’t materialistic. He’d come across women he felt were using him to go on dates and get drinks. And he’d come across women who didn’t have many opinions and had nothing to talk about. Maybe it was too soon to tell but he liked you a lot so far.
Hearing you say that you still wanted to hang out with him was music to his ears. He wanted to share more of his life with you. He hadn’t planned on bringing you over to his place tonight and he hoped that he had left his place decent enough to where you wouldn’t think he was a complete slob.
*
“Wow,” you said, looking out of the floor to ceiling windows. “You can see so much of the city from here.”
Zane chuckled, opening the bottle of wine he got from the liquor store near his apartment. “The view is the reason I decided on this place. I fell in love with it.”
You turned on your heel to face Zane. He took out two glasses and started pouring wine. “This is apartment goals.”
“I saved like crazy for the past two years,” he said. “You just have to work hard and save up. I made a lot of sacrifices, you know?”
“Yeah,” you said, “that’s why I’m living in the apartment I’m living in now...with a roommate.”
“Don’t worry,” he said, handing you the glass of wine, “it takes time. Just remember that it’s not a race.”
You sat on the barstool and took a sip. “What do you mean?”
Still standing in the kitchen, he said, “I feel like people in our generation feel like we have to compete with each other in everything. We think so much about who’s getting married, which Facebook friend got their first apartment, who has their dream job straight after college...We think about those things and don’t think about what’s realistic for ourselves.”
Zane wasn’t too much older than you but he was wise. And to be honest, you did feel like you had a lot of people to compete with. Here you were two years after graduation and you felt like you hadn’t accomplished much of anything. But he was right; What good was it going to do to compare yourself to people that went to your college?
Zane added, “Besides, looks can be deceiving. The person that just bought a car could be struggling to pay for it every month, you know?”
“You really are a wise guy,” you said.
He took a sip of his wine. “Wow, this is good.”
The two of you talked for about an hour. You laughed over the sweet wine and chocolate cake that you insisted on paying for instead of Zane. You’d been on three dates with Zane but it seemed like this date really gave you a chance to get to know him.
Zane was having such a good time that he didn’t even notice that it was almost midnight. He was feeling pretty tipsy and so were you. The bottle had been finished a while ago and he ended up moving to another bottle of wine that didn’t taste as good instead. You felt amazing, thanks to the wine.
You moved closer to Zane on the couch. You boldly said, “Your lips look so kissable…”
Zane grinned, flashing you a flirty smile. “So do yours.”
You smirked. “So why haven’t you kissed me yet?”
“I was being a gentleman.”
“I don’t care about that,” you said, pressing your lips to his. You kissed Zane and he kissed you back.
You ended up in his lap, tongues exploring each others’ mouths. His mouth tasted like chocolate and merlot. You pulled away from him for a moment, looking in his eyes. Zane said, “I wanted to do that all night…” You bit your lip as you felt his hard on from underneath you. “I’m sorry, you’re just so sexy.”
“I want you,” you whispered, your breath hot on his ear.
At that moment, all of Zane’s morals and goal of waiting went out of the window. He wanted to wait but he was being tempted by you while he was under the influence. He’d planned on kissing you but not quite like this. He hadn’t planned on getting in bed with you for a while down the road. It was because he wanted to respect you and get to know you better but the two of you were adults. Two adults consenting to take things a little further than a kiss wasn’t so bad, was it?
He didn’t know how far you were willing to go but you pushed him over the edge. Soon enough, you were taking off your clothes and helping him out of his. Then he went to get a condom and, before you knew it, you were bent over the couch, your fingers digging into cushions. And then you ended up in his bed, your legs spread wide as he thrusted into you until you both came undone and bursting at the seams. And with that, you felt bliss wash over you as you fell asleep in his arms.
*
You smiled to yourself as you walked up the steps to your apartment in last night’s outfit. You had a good time with Zane last night and you didn’t regret it at all. As you took out your key, you heard a familiar voice calling you from behind.
“Y/N?”
You turned and found Wooyoung standing across the hall; He’d just come out of his apartment.  “Hey…”
Wooyoung chuckled, looking you up and down. You already knew what he was thinking before he even said it. “Looks like you had a good night,” he said, referring to the smudged eyeliner and mascara that you’d tried to get off this morning with Zane’s face wash. And judging by Wooyoung’s laughter, it hadn’t worked as well as you would’ve hoped.
You rolled your eyes. “Where are you headed?”
“Just to the store,” he said, putting his hands in his pockets. “Wanna hang out later? I’m kind of in the mood for a bar and some good chicken wings.”
You nodded. “Sure.”
“I’ll call you, then,” he said, heading down the staircase. You smiled and opened your front door. Your roommate, Lisa, was watching TV when you came in.
“Hey,” she said, greeting you. She sat up on the couch. “How was your date?”
You smiled, kicking your shoes off. “It was really good.” You plopped down on the couch next to her. “He’s a good guy.”
She raised her eyebrows. “But?”
You sighed. “Everything is good but it seems like there’s something missing…”
“Elaborate.”
“I mean, it’s like he’s perfect. He’s got his own place, a car, he has good taste in restaurants, and we have a lot in common,” you explained. “The sex was good, too, but I...I dunno.”
“He sounds like a dream come true,” she said, a confused expression plastered across her face. “An older guy with his life somewhat together unlike the rest of these guys…”
“I feel like maybe we don’t have a lot of chemistry.” You sighed. “It’s like there’s no spark...or maybe I’m just expecting too much.”
You liked Zane but there was something missing. The sex wasn’t mindblowing but part of it may have had to do with the fact that you were both pretty drunk. Could you even trust yourself to rate the sex when you had been that many glasses of wine in? You’d been horny and craving a man’s touch so badly that you practically attacked him. Though Zane didn’t seem to mind much, you felt a little embarrassed by your bold behavior.
You figured the next time you slept together, it should be sober. That is, if there was a next time. You liked him but maybe it was too soon to predict the future. Hell, you didn’t even know if the two of you would go further in the first place. When he dropped you off, he said that he wanted to see you again and that he’d text you later. It was promising, but it wasn’t a guarantee.
“Test him out a little more. I feel like one more date should do it.”
“Yeah,” you said, “maybe you’re right.”
*
All Wooyoung could think about was you. He couldn’t stand the thought of you being with another man. He’d laughed it off when he saw you coming back from what he assumed to be a one night stand but, to be honest, he didn’t think it was all that funny. He knew that he had no right to feel angry that you’d slept with someone. Hell, it was none of his business in the first place.
He’d been your neighbor for about a year now. You both moved to this apartment building shortly after graduating college. He moved here first and, one day, he saw you struggling to move your things into the apartment across from his. Back then, he thought you were the most beautiful thing he’d ever seen. He watched as the loose strands of your hair blew in the wind, escaping from the bobby pins you’d put in them to hold your bun together. He watched you struggle from a distance for a moment before he worked up the courage to ask you if you needed help. And he ended up helping you move all of your things into the apartment; that was how you became close friends in the first place.
He felt himself getting more and more frustrated as he grabbed the things he needed from the convenience store. The truth was that he liked you and he didn’t know how to tell you. And it felt unfair that he wasn’t able to tell you even when you were dating around freely. And he felt stupid because he didn’t even know and the two of you were close. He wondered who this guy was and how many dates you went on and if you were starting to fall for him. Later, when he saw you again, he’d find a way to figure it all out before he went crazy.
*
You looked at yourself in the mirror, trying to decide whether or not these earrings went with your outfit. As you looked at the other choices laid out on the sink, you saw your phone light up. You saw that it was from Zane and you smiled. Just as you were about to type a reply, you almost dropped your phone when you heard a knock at the door.
“Are you ready yet? We’re not going to the club, you know,” he said from the other side of the door.
You opened the bathroom door, rolling your eyes as he came into your view. “I’m ready.”
You looked amazing. Who would’ve thought you’d look so good in such a simple, casual dress. And he noticed you were wearing that lipstick color he commented on a few weeks back.
He stared at you for perhaps a second too long as he took you in, triggering all of his senses. You smelled like a flower, freshly plucked from the earth. In his eyes, you looked like Heaven if such a place existed. Your innocent “I’m ready” sounded sweet like a chocolate covered strawberry. He’d never had the opportunity to touch you for more than just a second but if he had more time he was sure your skin would feel as soft as the clouds hanging in the sky. And if he could taste your lips he knew they’d be coated with that strawberry lip balm you always wore underneath the layer of lipstick that would surely come off on his lips if he had the opportunity to kiss you. And, GOD, if he could taste you down there he knew it would be like the sweetest of fruits.
You walked out of the bathroom and past him to grab your bag off of your bed. “See? I’m ready.”
Wooyoung followed you out of the apartment and you started walking toward the bar. On the way there, you didn’t mention the mystery guy you’d gone out with. In the past, you’d told him about the outings you’d gone on with guys from a dating app here and there. But you hadn’t mentioned this guy. What did that mean? Did that mean that you were serious about him or did that mean that it was too soon for you to mention without seeming crazy or obsessed? As much as it killed him not to ask you straight up, he held it inside. He’d ask you when and if the time was right.
You walked into the restaurant first. For a Saturday night, it was starting to get a little crowded. You and Wooyoung waited at the host counter. A woman approached you. “Hi. How many people are in your party?”
“Just two,” Wooyoung said.
She said, “There aren’t any tables open right now but there’s room at the bar if you don’t want to wait.”
Wooyoung looked at you for a decision. You said, “The bar is fine. I’m kinda hungry.” He nodded as the host pointed him toward the bar. Wooyoung took a seat at the furthest side of the bar and you jumped up into the barstool next to him. You grabbed the drink menu and started looking at the cocktails. You hadn’t been to this restaurant before but, as far as you knew, Wooyoung swore by it.
“Wooyoung?”
Wooyoung’s eyes shot up, away from the drink menu, and his eyes were met with his ex’s. “Soojin! When did you start working here?”
“About two months ago…”
Wooyoung turned to you. “Y/N, this is Soojin.”
Soojin, you thought, his ex girlfriend… He’d mentioned her a few times. Part of the reason they broke up was because she took him for granted and didn’t give him the attention he needed. So, he broke up with her. You knew that a couple weeks after that, she ended up apologizing to him. As far as you knew, he forgave her but you weren’t sure if they’d seen each other since then.
She said, “Nice to meet you,” with a smile. You had obviously never met her before but you got weird vibes from her. For some reason you couldn’t put your finger on, you didn’t like her. Maybe it was because you were being protective over Wooyoung since she didn’t treat him well while they were together. Soojin turned back to Wooyoung. “How have you been?”
Wooyoung nodded. “Good. I’ve been working. What about you?”
“I’m almost done with nursing school,” she said. “I’m shadowing at a small women’s clinic now. I’ve been working here to, you know, pay the bills.”
He smiled. “Wow, that’s good to hear. You’re almost done.”
“Thanks,” she said, flashing him a smile you were sure was more flirty than friendly in nature.
You decided to change the topic and pull the two of them apart as soon as possible. “So what cocktails do you recommend?”
“What’s your taste like?”
“Something sweet but not too sweet. Maybe a little fruity,” you replied.
“I’d recommend this one,” she said, pointing at the menu. Soojin looked at Wooyoung and added, “For you, I have something in mind. I’ll surprise you.” And there he was, smiling like an idiot. You were disgusted at how he was acting with her. It was as if you weren’t even here. And why did Soojin feel so comfortable flirting with him so openly when you could very well be his date?
She brought Wooyoung’s drink first, of course, with a sickeningly sweet smile that made you gag internally. When you got your drink, you and Wooyoung took a sip at the same time. To your dismay, Soojin stood there waiting for his reaction. She said, “What do you think?”
“It’s perfect,” he replied. “You know my taste.”
“We should order, shouldn’t we?” you asked. This seemed to get Wooyoung’s focus off of his ex’s tits and onto actually doing what he came here to do: spend time with you. Wooyoung finally ordered chicken and, at this point, you weren’t even sure if you were hungry.
*
On the walk home, Wooyoung sensed a negative aura coming off of your body. He said, “Are you mad at me?” You were so annoyed, you didn’t even answer him. You kept walking, looking straight ahead instead of looking over at him. Angry was definitely an emotion you felt. Anger, annoyance, and disappointment. “Y/N…”
You walked up the staircase to your floor, ready to go home and not have to see Wooyoung. “What, Wooyoung?”
“What’s wrong?”
“I thought we were going to get drinks and dinner. Instead, you were staring at your ex’s tits for an hour and flirting with her the whole time!”
“Why are you yelling in the hallway?” he asked, opening his door. “Let’s at least talk about it inside. With a huff, you went inside and headed toward his bedroom. You plopped down on his bed as Wooyoung shut the door behind him. “Anyway, what’s wrong with that? I’m single, aren’t I?”
“You may as well have fucked her right there on the bar,” you said, rolling your eyes. “Did you have to talk to her throughout the whole meal?”
To be honest, Wooyoung wanted to make you jealous tonight. It was stupid and he didn’t have to go as far as he did but it felt good knowing that he could get under your skin like that. He felt empowered, almost. He was hurting and he took it out on you instead of being strong and confessing his feelings.
“I don’t want her,” he said, seconds from revealing his true feelings. Right now, he had courage. He finally had the courage to tell you how he truly felt.
Your eyes widened, in straight confusion. “Then what the hell was that? Was it fun for you?”
“I wanted to make you jealous,” he admitted, sitting down on the bed next to you.
You furrowed your brows in confusion. “What?”
“I’m in love with you,” he said, sighing, “but you’re dating someone else…”
“Are you serious?” Your friend nodded. You let out a laugh. “What? You were upset that I fucked someone else, so you decided to go out of your way to try to make me jealous?” You sucked your teeth. “See, the difference between you and me is that you went out of your way to make me feel like shit and I didn’t.”
Wooyoung bit his lip. He knew that he was wrong in the situation. He was a loser for doing this and for thinking that it was a good idea. His jealousy clouded his ability to make a decent decision.
“I’m sorry,” he said, unsure of what else he could say to you. “I was jealous when I saw you come in this morning because I’m in love with you...and knowing that you’ve been with another guy hurt.” He let out a deep sigh, beginning to feel more emotional. “And I know you probably don’t feel the same way but it’s been bothering me lately. I’m sorry you had to find out like this but I don’t want to hide it anymore...”
You didn’t say anything. This was a lot for you to take in. “How long has it been?”
“I liked you from the first day we met…”
You took your feelings into consideration. You didn’t know why you felt jealous that he was flirting with his ex. It would be annoying, you supposed, but why did you feel anger? Why were you feeling jealous? Wooyoung was single and could do as he pleased. So why had you felt overcome with jealousy tonight? Clearly, you had feelings for him that maybe you didn’t realize were there. You felt things being out with Wooyoung that you hadn’t felt with Zane. And maybe you were tipsy but attraction was attraction, right?
You said, “Kiss me?”
Wooyoung turned to look you in the eyes. He studied your face for a second. “What?”
“Kiss me so I know what I’m feeling is real…”
Wooyoung’s heart was seconds away from exploding. His heart raced in anticipation as he leaned in to kiss you and your lips met. And that was when you realized that all you needed was three seconds to know that you felt anything but friendly toward Wooyoung. Feeling his lips on yours, he was all you could think about. Zane became a distant memory, irrelevant in this moment.
Wooyoung couldn’t believe it. He’d finally gotten an opportunity to kiss you. Though this wasn’t how he’d pictured it, he was happy. The kiss only confirmed the feelings he’d kept hidden from you over the past year. He was in love with you and upon finally kissing your lips, he feel more deeply in love. He only hoped that you had feelings for him, too. Or, if anything, he hoped that you would come to have feelings for him eventually.
He didn’t want Soojin anymore. That chapter of his life had come to a close. And he wanted the next chapter of his life to be about you.
Wooyoung pulled away from you first, breathless. You said, “What’s wrong?”
He shook his head. “Nothing. This is perfect. You’re perfect…”
You kissed him this time, taking him by surprise. You tossed your phone to the side, leaving Zane’s text unread. Zane was a good guy, probably one of the nicest you’d met in a long time. But Wooyoung was making you feel things. Zane’s kisses, compared to Wooyoung, were lackluster. His lips didn’t feel like this.
Wooyoung went for your neck next. He planted soft, feathery kisses on your exposed collarbone and up to your neck. He took his time with you as you let out soft sighs at his touch. You placed your hand on his shoulder as he started sucking on your neck lightly. He felt you grip onto him a little more tightly as your body shivered. You bit your lip as the flames in your core started growing bigger.
You pushed him back gently and said, “I want you…”
Wooyoung smirked. You didn’t have to tell him twice. He was more than willing to give you whatever you wanted. He felt himself getting harder and harder as your hands reached for his jacket, peeling it off of him. Then you went for his shirt, pulling it over his head before planting a kiss on his lips.
You stood up from the bed, taking off your own jacket. Wooyoung leaned back on the bed as you stepped out of your dress. He watched you carefully as you stepped out of it slowly, his eyes on you like glue. You were left in your bra and panties and what turned him on even more was that they were black: his favorite color.
Wooyoung had never been more turned on in his life. He didn’t think he’d last very long, considering it was you. Wooyoung stood up and grabbed you by the waist. “You’re so sexy,” he whispered, holding your chin while looking into your eyes. Still looking at him, you reached for his belt and reached into his boxers for his dick. He shuddered at you touching it and gasped as you started stroking it. He wasted no time and pulled down his pants to make things easier.
“Fuck,” he whispered under his breath. He kissed you with his tongue as you stroked him slowly. He pulled away from you and pushed you onto the bed, covering your body in kisses. He kissed your lips, down to your neck, then your stomach. Wooyoung spread your legs apart, kissing your thighs. The feeling sent chills up your spine. He wrapped his fingers around your panties and pulled them down slowly.
He continued kissing your thighs before making his way down to what he wanted to taste most. You bit your lips as you felt his breath on you before he said, “You’re already so wet…” He kissed your lips, right outside your opening. Then he dug in like your pussy was his last meal. He licked up all your juices and started sucking on your clit like there was no tomorrow.
Wooyoung felt your body shivering and shaking from the intense pleasure you felt. And what made him even more excited was hearing you struggling to hold in your screams. He loved seeing you so vulnerable and how you so easily submitted to his tongue. You grabbed onto his hair, running your fingers through it as Wooyoung’s tongue pressed harder and more viciously into your clit. You’d never gotten eaten out like this before. Somehow, he was rough yet gentle. He knew exactly where you needed his tongue and when. You felt like you were going to explode as you moaned loudly and uncontrollably. You were so fucking close and you didn’t stand a chance being up against Wooyoung’s tongue.
A few seconds later, Wooyoung started licking you faster. And just when he thought it might be awhile before he made you come, you started screaming louder than before and your body started writhing and shaking with your orgasm. Your body jerked as he gave your pussy one final kiss. You sat up and leaned against the pillows, heavy breaths leaving your mouth.
“You taste amazing, Y/N,” he whispered, laying next to you. You looked down and saw that he was rock hard, still. You smiled and took your bra off. Wooyoung was so busy eating you out that he forgot all about your bra. Your breasts were perfect; the perfect shape and the perfect size.
“Touch me,” you said, still craving for more. “I need you, Wooyoung…”
He reached and grabbed onto your breasts, one in each hand. They felt like pillows in his hands. He gave them a gentle squeeze before running his fingers over your nipples. He flicked them and held them in between his fingers, pulling them softly. You sighed at the small gesture of pleasure.
Wooyoung ran his thumb across your arm. “Has anyone ever made love to you before?” You shook your head. You’d dated and had a boyfriend before but you couldn’t say that you’d ever made love. He climbed over you so that his face was inches from yours. He looked you in your eyes, to the point where you almost felt uncomfortable. But you couldn’t look away; you were throbbing for him.
Within a moment, your tongues met again and Wooyoung was pushing into you. He pushed in slowly, biting his lip and enjoying the feeling of your pussy wrapped around him. He cursed under his breath as he sunk into you, filling you completely. You felt like heaven, just like he knew you would.
This was the last place you expected to be on a Saturday night but there was no place you’d rather be than underneath Wooyoung. While he thrusted in and out of you slowly, he looked into your eyes. You’d never had a man be so gentle with you. You’d never had a man care this much. He lowered himself onto you, your stomachs touching. You wrapped your legs around him as he sunk more deeply into you and started rubbing against your clit. He kissed your neck as you moaned into his ear. He loved that sound. “Be as loud as you want baby…”
At this point, he didn’t care if his roommate heard or if the neighbors heard or if the door wasn’t shut all the way. All he cared about was making you come undone from underneath him. He pulled out suddenly and before you could whine about it, Wooyoung pulled you on top of him. You sunk onto his dick and you bit your lip as you got filled up. Now, facing each other in a seated position, Wooyoung could look into your eyes directly.
Before Wooyoung could start moving, you took it upon yourself to start bouncing on his dick. You used his shoulders to steady yourself and started moving up and down his shaft. Wooyoung’s lips parted, a groan spilling out. He watched your tits bouncing in his face and looked up to see your face, twisted in pleasure. You started moaning louder as you got more and more turned on. You put your finger in Wooyoung’s mouth and he sucked it, turning you on even more.
“Fuck,” you whispered. You changed your pace and started moving more slowly against him, grinding into him instead. Wooyoung moved his hips against yours, meeting you halfway to that sweet spot. Wooyoung wrapped his arms around you as the two of you moved faster.
“I’m so close, baby,” you said in between moans.
Wooyoung said, “Come for me. Come all over my dick, baby.” He didn’t have to tell you twice. You could feel your clit on fire as you exploded into an orgasm that racked your whole body. Wooyoung couldn’t take much more either. He gripped onto you more tightly, screwing his eyes shut. “Fuck, Y/N…”
“Come inside, Wooyoung.”
“Say it again,” he said, opening his eyes.
“Come inside me, Wooyoung,” you said, moaning. “Come in my pussy.”
Hearing you moan sent him over and beyond the edge. He grunted and groaned as he let his seed spill into you. His body stilled and he leaned into your shoulder to catch his breath. When he pulled away, you cupped his face in your hands before you kissed him. This kiss was slow and gentle.
“That was amazing,” you said.
Wooyoung nodded, breathless. “Yeah...it was.”
You lifted yourself off of him and went to the bathroom to clean up. Wooyoung came up behind you as you wiped yourself. He pressed kisses onto your neck from behind and looked at you in the mirror. “You’re so beautiful, Y/N…”
You smiled and turned around to face him. “I want to be with you, Wooyoung.”
He reached out for your hand. “Are you sure?”
You nodded. “My heart has never beat this fast before...”
“You know...when we met, I couldn’t stop thinking about you,” he said. “You were right in front of me and I couldn’t tell you how I felt.
You smiled again, wider this time, because for the first time in your life you knew exactly what you wanted.

[Image Description: A digital drawing of a purple-haired man (shown from the back) standing on a high place and looking at three tall buildings with various things growing on their roofs. One has giant flowers, another has long purple vines, and the third has a row of large blue mushrooms. Between the man and the buildings is a radio tower with a gigantic pink/red lily on top instead of an antenna. The words “A Summer with the Immortal” are written on the picture. End ID.]
🪴 A SUMMER WITH THE IMMORTAL 🪴
GENRE: Science-fantasy
AGE GROUP: New Adult
POV / NARRATION: Singular (main story, not counting the prologue and epilogue), third-person limited, past tense
ROMANCE?: F/F
TROPES: Fantastical biotech, scientific(?)-mystery-centric plot, summery aesthetics, meet-cute, fluffy developing romance
THE SYNOPSIS:
On the planet of Telluria, life has its shots called by the Tachytely, a phenomenon that rewrites biology according to its whims. In a world that’s constantly changing, you learn to expect anything.
Taryn Viato is a biology student attending the university where the Tachytely’s effects were first recorded. At her first-year graduation party, she receives a letter from the renowned Luca Aurevasi, offering her an opportunity to do volunteer work with him.
Aurevasi gives her an assignment: find out why his radio-lilies have been wilting. This mystery being one that’s straight up her alley, Taryn sets to work. As her investigation progresses, the tempo of her life accelerates: an expedition into a lost city and the possibility of romance both wait around the corner.
This summer is looking to be a very interesting one. But maybe not everything that it brings is good…
THE MAIN CAST:
Taryn Viato: A student at the world-famous Eastern Eopolitan University. Biology has been basically the only thing on her mind since she was a little girl, so she’s excited to finally be on her way to getting a degree in it. Curious and hard-working. Also, she is autistic (like the author).
Luca Aurevasi: A biologically-immortal altered human and local celebrity, well-known for his generosity. Each summer, he enlists volunteers from Eastern Eopolitan to help him around his place (a remodelled old palace). Friendly but distant. Has hoarder tendencies. (Also, he’s the one in the promo image.)
Florence Ianthina: The love interest. A photographer who Taryn meets by chance at a small restaurant. She’s half marine human (specifically a type with nudibranch-ish fins), but looks mostly base (unaltered) human. Soft-spoken, loves seafood. Like Taryn, she is autistic.
SETTING INFO:
A Summer with the Immortal takes place on Telluria, a planet very similar to Earth (at least before the Tachytely began). Specifically, it takes place on the continent of Andanos, in the country of Kenor.
The Tachytely (literally meaning “rapid evolution”) is a mutagenic phenomenon affecting eukaryotes that started a little over a hundred years before the book takes place. It is caused by a mysterious force / energy. While the mutations caused by it are often very drastic, altered organisms function as if they had naturally evolved that way. There’s a bunch of other “rules” to it that I’m not going to get into here.
When the Tachytely began, the general reaction was understandably terror. But as time went on, people began to realize that it wasn’t as scary as it seemed, and decided to basically lean into it. By the time that the novel takes place, the phenomenon has been fully embraced as part of the world: biotech using altered organisms is commonplace, and altered humans are accepted by society.
With regards to society, Telluria is generally a much more pleasant place than our world is. Though I hesitate to describe it as a “utopia”, because it is not completely free of tensions…
STATUS: Undergoing a full rewrite, currently at 35K (goal: 60K).
Book 1 of a planned series.
