Something I learned about myself over the month of daily posting was that I felt lazy uploading a photo without a meaningful caption. ⠀ ⠀ Obviously, it’s not needed and the majority of Instagram users don’t bother looking past the photo but I felt like I was publishing something pointless/incomplete without it. I personally love reading what people have to say whether it’s sentimental, funny, educational, or in the form of a diary entry. Plus, I think the caption completes the post. Some photos need a three-paragraphed story, while others could get away with a simple emoji. Personally, I see Instagram as a serialized novel, with each post being a new chapter that you don’t have to pay a shilling for.⠀ ⠀ Though I don’t think my personal trials and tribulations are interesting to anyone other than my mom (someone whose interest has been dwindling since I learned to talk), I love having them to look back upon. So, regardless of the fact that creating a well thought out caption takes longer, I think it’s something I want to try to do more of since it feels more whole to me. Obviously, there will still be captions of just quotes especially since most of my creative brain power is going to writing 80,000 words during the month of July, but it’s a direction I hope to explore. ⠀ ⠀ Anyway, do you have a favorite way to post? Or prefer seeing certain types of posts on your feed? I know I can’t be the only one since there are a lot of memes making fun of certain ways of posting, but rather than judging, let’s encourage our different posting ways.⠀ ⠀ ⠀ (at Yosemite National Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/BztOhdGnNp_/?igshid=1eefazrwcfw78
