i AHHHHH okay wait let me go off for a sec

to be honest interpretations where one of those 3 end up leading are good but i just?? can’t really see any of them jumping on it too fast

kent is definitely qualified and so is albany but kent isn’t keen on a leadership role and albany thinks he’d be too ineffective. which is probably true to be fair

this leaves edgar to be the most likely candidate

it’s a lot of pressure on him when he’s still dealing with all that trauma, and basically being left an orphan and feeling like he didn’t get closure at all with his family

he’s also dealing with it by being rebellious in that childish way either because gloucester didn’t let him be rebellious or because he suppressed it for the longest time

kent being edgar’s father figure is also valid but i raise you: albany being edgar’s father figure

edgar has a bit of a problem with kent

albany is dealing with his own single fatherhood problem and sorting out his lack of closure with goneril too but he tries to be there for edgar as much as he can

mostly involves edgar just ranting to him 

the fool dropped off in a3s7 because they knew shit was about to go down and was like ‘oh yup i told you guys so!’

also kent and the fool have an on and off relationship

albany: edgar is mentally ill can you guys stop being horny

france is there too and i think that he thinks he should be king of britain now but kent and albany are trying to prevent that as much as possible

cordelia isn’t exactly dead but she’s not exactly alive either. i think shes in a coma because i hate it when girls die

and edgar misses her a lot and feels like everything would be better if she would be there

not wrong

i think the fool should be the prime minister but everyone and their mother thinks it’s an absurd idea despite them being perfectly intelligent and qualified enough for the job

Don’t give up NT Live too early. All My sons (NT live May 14) and All about Eve (April 11) were both announced Sep 2018. NT Live of AMS was announced Dec 2018. AAE, Jan 2019. It seems they need time. Richard II was broadcasted Jan 15, this year. After 2 wks, another NT Live performance is scheduled on Jan 31. If Betrayal happens to be broadcasted, it can be late May or late April. But it may not be broadcasted at all. Not all plays with famous actors are broadcasted.

Is there still room in the NT Live schedule for Betrayal with the All About Eve announcement?     

I hope people weren’t thinking that was my intent with posting about All About Eve... it was actually the opposite.

It was, to me, proof that something that was announced earlier (Sep 2018 as anon says), and for AAE, something that actually premieres NEXT WEEK, a full month before Betrayal, would just have their NTLive announcement now. So no announcement yet doesn’t mean it won’t happen.

There is very definitely something that’s going to happen on April 27th. Whether it’s NTLive (still completely possible) or a BBC recording (like Andrew Scott’s Hamlet), they’re holding the 27th open for some reason. Perhaps they’re negotiating details still, so don’t know exact timing (they may want to just have a 7:30 show with no matinee, or even hold off until 8pm (noon in LA) if it’s NT Live. If it’s BBC, that could mean something else, entirely.

Not all plays are broadcast, true - but this is also a Nobel Prize-winning playwright with two well-known actors and an actress who just about to break through in N America, I think... if Velvet Buzzsaw is a success, for instance, on top of Wanderlust and now this, it’s a good year for her. So there’s a good potential audience for it.    

We shall see, though.
