Thinking about Benito and Emi and Lucie.
Thinking about how Benito will slowly warm up to Emi not because he wants to but because he knows it's what she needs. He'll make fun of her and get the healthy foods because she hates it and stay up longer than usual because he can't stop thinking about the what ifs. When November comes around the corner Benito will make Emi clean the house and set a table with marigolds and leftover dinner.
A shitty drawing of Lucie will be framed. They'll never admit their survivor's guilt to one another but both Benito and Emi will look at Lucie with fondness and respect.

thinking abt post canon opq and benito's trying to get everything settled with guardianship over emi and making sure she can go back to school and hes going to college now too and hes like fuckkkkkk i wish lucie were here. she'd know what to do shed be able to handle this. and diego is like wtf no she wouldnt. the only time i saw her take any sort of responsibility ever was when she died for emi. youre better off dealing with this on your own i think

That was so incredible. WARNING!!! THIS IS GONNA BE A LONG APPRECIATION POST WITH A FEW GRAMMAR AND SPELLING MISTAKES BECAUSE IT IS LATE BUT SOOO MANY THOUGHTS!!! Also kind of a few character studies?? I guess?? YEah. I just need to get it out while it's still fresh.
I'm so impressed with all of them and the way Cellbit described stuff and all the different sounds he made?? absolutely nerve wrecking. The deaths were so like.. made my heart beat so so fast and the monster chases??? All the different npcs with different vibes to them he captured them so well. I love all the little references to the qsmp. I love the fact he included fitmc and his egg child. I'm so sad that he killed fitmc and his egg child.
They way Baghera roleplayed Lucie and how Lucie changed from hating this little brat and calling her that, and then changing it from a mean nickname to one of endearment, saying that Emi is the best for bringing the keycard but she needs to shut up. The way she gave her life for Emi, and she probably would've even if Carol didn't sabotage Emi. When she was dragged away and dying, all she could think about is that she was alone. That she was a failure. Her very last thoughts before she died were its not fair, but this is it. And it wasn't fair. She died alone. She was killed just for the thrill of it.
It was so cool the way Quackity laughed when Lucie died. The roleplaying was just so.. Chef's kiss. It changed Benito. It changed the way he saw Emi and yeah, he said he would help kill that child but seeing someone else doing that, it made him change his mindset. He never liked Carol, and seein her wanting this CHILD Lucie sacrificed herself for dead made him utterly pissed off, and he made sure that he would protect Emi. In the end, he says to himself that he started as an angry and cynical person who cared for no one. He said to himself that he will continue to be like that, but he has someone he needs to care for now and protect, because he will not let Lucie die in vain.
And the way Bagi roleplayed too?? I did NOT like Carol or trust her, she was so sus but oh my god Bagi is incredible. She was so in character, and Carol was so sure what she was doing was the right thing. She knew all of them were infected, and that meant they would need to die because if she lets them live she won't protect the world. But she wasn't there from the start. She wasn't there to form a bond with these people, and she focused her energy on killing a child, and in the end that's what got her killed. I almost wish she had lived longer, just to see what more there was to her. She was interesting narrivately, and I love that.
AND GOD. PAC. Pac was absolutely gut wrenching to look at after Diego heard about Lucie's death, just moment's before laughing with Jeffrey and being healed by him, only to hear that his best friend, likely for years, had been dragged away and killed by a beast, and it was to save a child he didn't even like. His first reaction was to deny it, even if the beast was right above them and he was so loud that it just.. GOIUGH. Pac's expression for the most part after that was zoned out, empty and like there was nothing to live for anymore. After Benito's speech about Lucie living on in Emi, he probably decided that Emi needs to live on. For Lucie. Like Benito said. Diego offers his everything for the people he loves. And he loved Lucie, it doesn't matter what KIND of love, but it was so important. And Pac captured that so incredibly well. ALSO LIKE. THE WAY HE SAID "She must've been terrified" MY HEART.
OUGH FOOLISH. His expressions. His noises. All the little things. He was soo in character. Jeffrey is a coward, and maybe it's more of an unknown trauma response to what happened to him before. Needing to run because he won't survive otherwise. His pep talk to Diego was that he [Diego] needs to bottle up his feelings for now, because otherwise he won't survive, but when they get out of this he can cry and they can get therapy. He's not telling Diego to keep it bottled up, but to seek out help. He throws a bunch of stuff, and in the end that's what saved them. He kept his phone and that moment!! That moment when Foolish said that he throws his phone at Mikael, I reacted the same way as Cellbit. Gasping, mouth open, jaw ON. THE. FLOOR. It was incredible.
AND EMI. She was broken. She saw her dad's infected body and she promised she would find a cure for him. She stayed with Lucie, held her hand until they had to split up and she was forced to stay with this boring guy that the only adult she liked didn't trust, and they were saying they didn't want her to stay there, but she would be safe if she did. Then, she finds this keycard, and her first instinct is to leave this boring guy and find Lucie. She does. And Lucie calls her the best for finding the keycard. And then, even if she doesn't realize it, she alerted the creature who chased her and Lucie, and this stupid doctor and new person who she does not know at all, down. This new stranger tries to offer her to the beast and Lucie sacrifices herself for Emi. Emi's only response was "She was the one I liked" I know some people were saying that she didn't act like a teenage girl (or like a 11/12 year old?) but she did!! I was talking to someone in dms and we were freaking out and he works with kids and I know teenagers. They are that sassy. They swear, and they absolutely swear a lot if they learned english from youtube or the internet, and being Brazilian I am simply assuming that's where Emi learnt it from. Cellbit did so well, and Emi also went through a LOT of traumatic events in such a short span of time. After Lucie died, she immidately latched onto Benito and never let go of his hand. And I don't think she will for a while.
Mikael sucked but also I kinda understood him in the end, but it also turned out he was wrong. That creature wasn't one of a kind, but he never got to know that. I don't have much to say about him because he was so sketch and just like. fuck that guy
i want more of this. so much more.
I KEEP ADDING ONTO THIS POST BUT OH MY GOD I AM APPLAUDING THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE SCENES. SO SO COOL. ALL THE ARTISTS AND THE PEOPLE HELPING CELLBIT WITH EVERYTHING WAS SO COOL. THANKY OU SO MUCH EVERYONE IN THE CREDITS

Ordem Paranormal Quarantena fucking knocked it out of the park it was insane Im grappling with so much I'm so insanely tired
There was a funny bit I was thinking of around the whole second bit where I was going Carol you hallmark protagonist fuck
Because first of all her name. that was the main part it's on the same level as Noel and Nick and Holly but there were also certain aspects of her character that in my delirious mind reminded me of the hypocrisy and drama of the typical independent business lady in a christmas movie as well as the I-can-do-no-wrong mindset of a romantic fantasy shoujo romance protagonist
And I thought. Man. There was a very clear path this story couldve taken with these characters and setting if it were not roleplay.
(note: not talking about the ccs or the actual characters but the Tropes the characters fall into and Could've been in generic science fiction horror)
A plucky new scientist with dreams to make a difference in an evil monster-ridden world and prove her skills despite being underestimated and looked down on by her friends and colleagues, and her direct senior with whom she has a negative relationship with due to his demonstrated lack of practical skill but mysterious higher connections to the board and therefore is ranked higher while she falls behind. She has moments of butting heads with him before the disaster breaks out in the facility and she has to struggle to stay alive and hidden until she's rescued by that same suddenly impressive senior with whom there's multiple tight spaces to be stuck with and convenient makeovers and sudden cold they have to share body warmth for. It's overWhelmingly easy to guess the plot
The plot in which None of the gang are mentioned. Because in this hypothetical B-list horror romance, they don't exist as people, but plot devices and tropes
They're there to provide funny moments and emotional weight as well as conflict to the overdone plot.
You have Luis, tank, everyman strongman with a soft heart and unclear but dangerous living conditions (poor). Probably the backup boyfriend in case the thing with Mikael doesn't work out, ends up sacrificing his life to save her due to some completely preventable situation cause she was too stubborn to listen, and gets a future project (maybe even a baby) named after him.
You have Jeffrey, funnyman, scapegoat, coward with zero friends and terrible priorities, multiple jobs (poor). Kind of useless, constantly infuriating and taking up space and meddling with things he doesn't know Anything about when she could've made a solution if he'd handed it over and dies to the zombies for the crime of irritating our protag.
Diego, hippie allegory, lives out of his backpack he literally calls his home, his life (poor) and has herbs (weedhead) that she'd try to be Fixing and eventually succeed in 'reforming' and sending him back to school due to her natural disposition in helping those in need.
You have Lucie, finally another girl, unfortunately in both horror and tropey romance, we Hate any other woman besides our all-powerful and beloved protagonist, so she's the nerd archetype but not the cute, efficient way our protag is nerdy but in the weirdo unnecessarily jargon-filled and Unappealing (unattractive) way. She dies the same way in the movie.
Benito was Made to be hated. It's the sly evil smirk and sunglasses and a beanie with the unprofessional labcoat and talking about things he doesn't understand like he does and taking her accomplishments and mocking her life as a scientist fighting to save the world and how he always seems to be looking down at her and definitely wouldve been the one to hide an infection and endanger the group he's the character whose death you're Meant to starting cheering for when he's dragged kicking and screaming onto the rusty laden, jagged roof and played with and pounced on till his insides squeeze out of him like toothpaste
Mattias was there so our protagonist could have her badass "I'm not like you I won't take a life because you're a coward" speech before he turns and nearly gets the group
Emi and Anderson were there so we could have a real man-to-man fatherly conversation about what it means to protect the ones you love and to pass on the torch as 'Leader' before he succumbs to the virus and begs to die before he hurts his girl, and so they could have wholesome pseudo-parenthood with a confused but reasonable child who absolutely understands that they're doing the right thing because they're the good guys and calls Carol mom when she's in danger near the end
It could've been a zombie survival plot about two arguably well-off individuals facing the consequences of a project they still believe could change the world and their tag-along group of meatshields to throw at the problem until their glorious melancholy escape where they're hailed as heroes for containing and eventually completing their groundbreaking research
and a horrific experience for a group of people who just wanted to make an easy few bucks till the next paycheck. They could've split those 50 dolalrs and jumped each other in the parking lot they didn't need to go through all that
Carol is driven, she's serious, she's ambitious and believes in the good that her research (the team's research) will bring and she's surrounded by people who don't understand that they're the good guys and are trying to find fault in her So she's willing to make sacrifices so she's willing to take it upon herself to decide who the team needs more she doesn't care if she dies as long as the world knows she saved it she needs to hear anything and everything people say in case it's about her or something she might care about it she's got braided hair and easily breakable glasses
Mikael is keeping things to himself to preserve his level of control over the situation because who knows what these guys are really like and he Saved them by telling them everything they need to know and they repay him by chopping his arm off? they're ungrateful and unserious So he kept himself safe while they had numbers and clues on their side They Managed Didn't They? Aren't they alive right now? they don't understand how important it is that he lives no one understands how important it is that Nidere lives he's got stylish curly hair and a fitted turtleneck
They both have a need to be heroes in a sense, to matter in the grand scheme of things they need to be at the forefront they need to be the ones who saved Everyone. Everybody is Only Alive because of THEM.
It's just really fascinating to me how. A different perspective of things kind of switches their roles as protagonists and cannon fodder

So like. I've been thinking extensively about the OPQ polycule-slash-situationship (because like what in the actual gay hells was going on there) and realizing that I don't one hundred percent agree with any one take I've seen already, soooo...
Figured I'd add my hot takes to the mix. Personal headcanons included. >:3
Personal headcanons: Lucie is aromantic asexual. Diego is homoromantic demisexual. Luis is a flaming bisexual. Jeffrey just likes nice people鈥攂ut would probably identify as pansexual. Benito is simply homo and horny, and doesn't give a fuck what label you slap on him.
Lucie / Diego: Queerplatonic. Have been for some years now. Perfectly happy together. Lucie has her soulmate for life, Diego is free to find love鈥攁s long as they can withstand Lucie's heavy scrutiny鈥攕hould he wish. (And he does.) Nothing is going to break them apart. (Well. Except death, I guess.)
Benito / Jeffrey: Benito fell first, and fell the hardest. It's almost one-sided, but not quite, because Jeffrey still flirts (argues?) back, and Benito will take any small thing as a win. Jeffrey, on the other hand, sees Benito as a pain in the ass, but a cute one, at least. Perhaps worth looking more into, should they make it out of this alive.
Diego / Jeffrey: Hopelessly unrequited. Just when things seem to be moving one way, Jeffrey will unintentionally friendzone Diego hard, and the embarrassment comes rocketing back in. Jeffrey sees them as good friends, close friends鈥攖he best of friends, even. But just friends. And no amount of Diego's stammered flirting will change that.
Jeffrey / Luis: Hesitant. Luis flirts, and may even have a bit of a crush. He's interested. But if he's "interested," then Jeffrey has no hope, because he is head over heels. Screwing up his words, flirting, compliments鈥攖he whole nine yards. If things end well, Luis could see it happening.
Diego / Luis: Romantic interests, baby. They are on each other's level鈥攕ame interest, same amount of flirting, deep trust. They made a bond quick, and it's already insanely strong. As long as Lucie approves, Diego's pretty much set. (Guess we'll never know.)

forever thinking about the impact lucies death had on everyone
benito realised pride had a time and place, and this isnt it. lucie was the only one who actually took care of emi because even though he did care for her he was way too proud to let it show. either he got over himself or emi would die, and if she died, it would all be his fault.
diego realised he had to live. hes been in shock all this time, just following along, thinking that if they just were good and followed the big guys everything would be fine. but it wasnt fine. he needed to act for himself, he needed to live and take risks or else he'd die. it was his blindly going along that killed lucie, that kept him from being at the same place as her when she died, because if he were there he wouldve found a way and saved her, he couldve died for all he cared but lucie would be alive and well. he needed to think for himself, he needed to survive, to do what lucie died trying to do: escape.
luis realised this isnt a game. hes strong, agile and good with guns, yes -- but not everyone is. he has the means to survive, but not everyone does. and he's scared. he's scared he'll slip, and he wont be able to protect this one person, and one by one everyone dies because he isn't able to protect them all. this isnt a game. this isn't easy. they didnt sign up for this. he has to survive, because if he dies, he can't protect the others.
jeffrey realised he couldnt give in to his fear. lucie died running away from that monster, frightened, and he doesn't get over himself so will he. what if his fear kills him, his inability to even touch a body without throwing up, the way his knees tremble whenever he hears the monster approaching? what if he stutters, and trips, and falls, and gets the same fate as her? he can't die. he'll swallow every fear he feels, he'll act as proud and stuck up as the doctor, but by god, he is more scared of dying than he is of being tough.
