I totally don't know if you're even taking asks, and you can ignore this if I you need to but! I had such a horrible, terrible day and I was hoping you could write something small to make me feel better about everything.. 😅

So, seven hours ago, I was a bright blonde but I needed a touch up so I went into the salon and payed 100 dollars for some upkeep.. I sat patiently for nearly six and a half hours, only to turn out with white/bleachy ashy roots and dark brown hair...... So not what I wanted! I sobbed in that stylists chair until my hair dryer and she just brushed ut off. Everyone has been telling me that it looks fine but compared ro the bright, beachy blonde that I came in with, I feel blatantly ugly now.. ☹️

Could you maybe write a super quick drabble or something about how Bakugo would try to comfort? If not, I totally get it! I adore your work so much.

Bakugo's sitting on the couch of your shared apartment, invested in his book while the TV buzzes in the background. He hears your key turn in the door and peaks over the pages toward the foyer, patiently waiting for you to reveal your new hair. You've been gone for over half the day - he assumed you'd be a few hours, but not...all day. Maybe you went with something completely different than usual?

When the door opens, you scuttle inside with your head hung low, a baseball cap covering your hair. Bakugo could somewhat see your hair sticking out from underneath. Why the hell were you hiding it?

"Didn't ya just get your hair done?" he calls from the living room. "What's with the hat?"

"I don't wanna talk about it," you say quietly, taking off your shoes and retreating to the bedroom. Without hesitation, Bakugo tosses his book onto the cushion and quickly perks up to follow you back to your joint bedroom. He leans on the doorframe, curiously watching you pace back and forth in front of the mirror.

"Somethin' wrong?" he asks, arms crossed over his chest. You slowly reach up to take off your hat, untucking your hair and letting it fall naturally.

"I hate my hair."

Bakugo gives you a once over, confused as to why you'd be upset. "S'nice. You're always pretty to me, sweetheart. What's wrong with it?"

"Over six hours and it came out the opposite of what I wanted. They stripped out my blonde color and replaced it with...this." You pull a strand of hair forward as example, showing off the new brownish color.

"I could fix it for ya," he proposes while walking over to you, fluffing your hair gently in his hands. "Used'ta bleach Red's hair for him back in school."

You sniffle and lean against his shoulder. "I'd like that."

He never ceases to surprise you.

Within the hour, Bakugo's back home with all the needed materials to fix your hair - toner, bleach, and gloss. Over the next few hours, he's tending to your hair to help bring it back to what you wanted, extremely focused on doing a perfect job. By the time you're all finished, it's way past his normal bedtime. You can tell by the look in his eyes that he's exhausted, but you're his number one priority - sleep can wait until Bakugo knows you're happy.

Once he's done drying your hair, he brushes it out for you before letting you look in the mirror, admiring his work. For an at home job, it's not half bad. He spins you around and playfully pushes you toward the bathroom mirror, smirking proudly when he catches your initial reaction.

"Wha'cha think?"

You're in awe. How the hell did he do this?!

"Katsuki...it's perfect!" you exclaim while flipping your hair around to see the subtle dimension of color shifting. "Exactly what I wanted. Thank you!"

He hugs you from behind and leaves a soft kiss on your cheek.

"Ya look gorgeous no matter what," he reminds you as he squeezes you tightly. "But I gotta say, I did a damn good job. Now let's get'ta bed already, I'm beat."

When you wake up the next morning, Bakugo compliments your appearance a multitude of times while the two of you are getting ready for work, reminding you just how beautiful you are to him in any light.

Hey Martyn! So, I got into your lore because of Grian's Life Series, and now I'm just trying to find some stuff out. Anyways, I understand most of it, though I do have a couple questions.

What actually are LOOT shards/crystals? I know that they're soke aort of corruption in games of sorta, but how do they get there, how to they affect the game, and also how to disable them. It's just something I'm wondering about since I know you have to find the one piece, of treasure, but how does it actually help?

What are CHEST agents? I know that they're something almost as evil as Cruppy, which is really saying something, but what actually are they?

Are there any extra lore bits in Rats SMP that you can't get anywhere else? I just wanna know if I should grit my teeth and watch it sometime, when I'm done catching up on the VODs of Pirates (can't make it to streams for personal reasons, alas).

If you've come up with it, is there any way that the Watchers lore from the Life Series ties into the datastream hopper lore? Those two just seem a little incompatible to me - hopping the datastream, being captured by mysterious godlike entities... Or are they just two separate universes?

Do you plan on posting the New Life streams on your vods channel?

Who in Pirates is p!Martyn closest to in each faction, overall?

Right now it's Bagginshield, and that's really all my brain has room for! OC's: I would genuinely loooove to talk about my OCs, so very much! As I said above, bagginshield is really my main focus right now, but I have two half-written original novels that I really hope to pluck up the courage to share one day. If you're still looking for thoughts on Patreon: I haven't subscribed to many Patreons before, but so far it's been for extras + early access. Unfortunately I don't have enough money to subscribe to everyone I want to or for long periods of time, so I normally dip in for 1 or 2 months when something is released, cancel my subscription, and resubscribe at a later date.

It seems like people are willing to pay more for RO content (like side stories & RO POVs), nsfw content, + early access. So those might be ideal to place at higher tiers? I've also seen some creators do tiered early access. Like the highest tier will get the demo update 1 month early, then the next tier 3 weeks early, etc. with the lowest 1 week before it's released to the public. That might make the higher tiers worth it over the lower tiers, instead of giving them all the same amount of early access.

One concern is that some creators get burnout from having to create all the extra content for Patreon. I think a lot of people underestimate how much time & effort it takes and it may not be worth the payoff (depending on how successful the patreon is). I'd also be concerned that with Patreon extra content + multiple new WIPs there won't be much time left for the main game and it's likely progress will slow down. I've seen this happen many times before, even without Patreon it seems like most creators who have multiple WIPs don't end up finishing any of them.

The feedback I've had has given me some ideas on how to streamline what I would do. When I've done Patreon for others, I've rotated support between the projects that resonate with me the most as well. There's so many to pick from, I can't blame anyone for popping in once every so often instead of staying subbed. If you have the ability to afford it, more power to you, but most of us just don't.

Those key benefits are really what I'm wanting to focus on. I do like the idea of a tiered early-access too especially for peeps who just want that.

Patreon burnout is something I want to work hard to avoid; I've seen other creators struggle and stop enjoying their arts too. I want to do this in a way that I can produce things for you to enjoy in a way that is still enjoyable for me too. This is my passion and I don't want to turn it into "work."

I have the benefit of probably being less busy than most others who do this, at least as far as I can tell. I'm married with no children and no plans for any either. I'm older, out of college and settled in the drudges of a career. I've been at my job long enough I could do it in my sleep and it doesn't cause me a ton of stress at this point. When I work on the IF or on Tumblr, it's because I want to and it drives me - it's a form of entertainment for me as well. I'd rather do this than watch TV or scroll mindlessly. Even before I started the IF, I'd get comfy and just write something all evening, lol.

I do also have a tendency to take too much on because I get excited, so I'm using the info I've gathered to help me roll things back and keep myself realistic. So, I've determined that anything I do will be reserved to just a few tiers. We can always grow bigger later. I still do plan to rotate up to 3 projects. The second is to keep me from burnout on GC, and the 3rd is simply an outlet for me that I think others will find entertaining as well.

I have some solid time available coming up in October for me to hammer things out more definitely, so I'll be posting more around then about it. ^_^

Is the rating 18+?

Yes. I'd say I believe the minimum age would be 17+, due to sexual content that can be fade to black.

Note: All sex scenes will be fade to black on the public demo. A private demo will be available for patreon or ko-fi donators when we get there which will include the explicit scene option (think ao3) and the "lite" version (think published smut).

How is the story formatted?

It will play out similarly to a dating sim/otome game. There will be 1-2 common starting chapters and then it will branch out into 6 routes for the ROs. All routes will have the same 6 key plot events, but will be different in how they're approached.

How many endings are there?

At least 6?

The endings will scale off of how many main events you succeeded in and the selected RO's relationship towards you. That means if you have a high relationship with your RO but have done poorly with the main events, you can still achieve a good ending.

Are there any poly routes?

Not as of right now. The coding for poly relationships is a bit too complicated for me to do right now. This may change as I get more comfortable with it.

Does MC have to romance someone?

Yes, that's the point of the whole game/story.

What are the characters ethnicities? Are they Chinese?

The world of Nian is heavily inspired by China and the Tang Dynasty, so the characters would be Chinese, but I don't assign real ethnicities onto them.

How does magic work in this world?

As of right now, I don't have a lore post about magic, so here's a quick breakdown.

Everyone can use magic. Some people have Magic Aptitude, which means they have more ability than most people. Magic is classified into Elemental Type and Class.

Will XYZ be in the story?

Maybe. This is a WIP so it's possible.

How are WLW/MLM/Queer relationships viewed/treated in the story?

They're fine. No one is homophobic.

How are women viewed/treated in the story?

Everything is mostly viewed about the same, as in it's pretty much equal for a majority of people. But a few things have lingered on from tradition (i.e boys inherit over girls, etc).

I provide helpful pronunciations for the characters' names on the Side Characters page. There will also be pronunciations listed in the stat page of the game.

How are the names written?

All names are written in the LastName FirstName format.

If I write something like "Consort Huo", it's the equivalent of "Mr Smith". For those who understand, the last names are monosyllabic while the first names are disyllabic.

Does MC have a set name?

MC has a set last name (Nan), but not a first name. You can name your MC whatever you'd like.

I encourage using a disyllabic name, for immersion and the fact that it would be the most "accurate". I provide 3 examples of disyllabic names in the game, but you can ultimately name your MC whatever you want!

Can you help me pick a name?

I certainly can! Just send me a private message (not an ask) with the name of your MC, and I'll find a name similar in meaning or pronunciation. Please be sure to tell me which you want, similar meaning or similar pronunciation.

Does MC have a set personality?

A bit, although it's more traits, as of right now. They will never want the throne, they are a good sibling to their siblings, they enjoy social events, and they are well-educated and a little bit naive from their position.

Does MC have a set appearance?

No. MC's appearance is up to you.

Can MC be trans?

I'm planning on it. There won't be any references made to a transition, though, and it won't affect anything besides the sex scenes. You'll have an option at the first sex scene to set what your MC has.

Will MC become the ruler? Can MC overthrow their father/brother? Can MC hurt *insert person here*?

No. Male MC is 4th in the line of succession and Female MC is 14th in the line of succession. MC loves their family and would do nothing to hurt them. MC will not perpetrate any kind of excessive violence against anyone.

Does MC have magic? Can MC do magic?

As mentioned before, everyone has magic. MC does not have Magic Aptitude, however, so their magic is on a normal level.

i'm veeeery fond of their og naruto dynamic, i think it often goes misunderstood/understated but to me it's one of the highlights to the original series! from stuff like kakashi shielding him from orochimaru and sealing his curse mark (which. btw. crazy. LOVE that scene) to the ENTIRE deal with chidori and the pride kakashi felt watching sasuke fight gaara with it... i think it's SURPRISINGLY well done! while i due to personal preference like to read it as specifically familial, i think you can read it anyway you want (not all mentor-type dynamics need to be familial in nature and not being so won't make it any less meaningful)

i don't think kakashi was a particularly great teacher (in fact i think tenzo is shown to be a MUCH better captain/mentor the moment he's introduced to team 7 lol) but you can certainly tell that he cares about all of the kids and wants to do right by them, it's just that with sasuke specifically to me it feels like it's of highly personal significance to him?

and it's not hard to see why, obviously kakashi and sasuke do not have the same trauma but i find it reductive to say that it means kakashi can't see himself in him at all, or that he can't be of any use to sasuke? one of my favorite scenes is the (... i think mildly controversial, from what i've seen?) one where he talks to sasuke on that tree and tells him to drop his revenge quest, because while yeah it was not a perfect effort, to me it's clear that 1. kakashi was being very genuine in his words and 2. that it like... almost worked? sasuke was very sincerely pondering his words before the sound 4 came along.

btw so funny that both kakashi and obito tie him up when talking to him. anyway

so you add that with the weird relationship kakashi has with the entire uchiha clan, starting with obito (the very reason kakashi is able to teach sasuke in any meaningful way at all), going through itachi if you treat team ro as canon WHICH I DO, I LOVE TEAM RO, and ending with sasuke, who is someone kakashi can still try to give a normal life to? yeah i can see why he might feel personally responsible for him!

sasuke's side is less in your face but like... sasuke sought kakashi out to help train him and very much echoes kakashi's words about not abandoning your comrades. he is also often the first one to understand where kakashi is going with something, him and kakashi have similar ways of going through life even if kakashi has majorly mellowed out with age.

there's also little things like how sasuke just had no qualms about walking into kakashi's house unannounced (after itachi beat his ass ty itachi looove u itachi), even before that, how when kakashi calls sasuke over while itachi+kisame are having tea, sasuke just kind of announces that he HATES sweets (so cute), as if he made the assumption kakashi either bought it for him or was thinking about it? like.

look at his baby face.

despite whatever route it ended up taking To Me it's very clear that they did have a special bond and that it was a VERY important part of sasuke's everything pre-shippuden, he was clearly comfortable around kakashi despite his standoffish attitude. it was not perfect and kakashi does hold blame for a lot of things (in general he has a very hands-off teaching style that doesn't work great with these kids), but that's like. part of why i like it you know! it's a little complicated but not through any ill will. it's just that they are both full of Issues lmao

it makes me ssoooooo saaaaad that they BARELY speak to each other at all in shippuden because like. that was one of THE dynamics in the original team 7 you know? and idk if it comes as a surprise but i'm not even OPPOSED to sasuke wanting to kill kakashi by the time they meet again? in fact i think it could be kind of awesome. because like he could have a lot of reasons to be angry with him, up to and including the mere fact that kakashi took SO LONG to even meet him again?

(remember when team 7 finally meets sasuke again w/ tenzo and sai, and he himself mentions kakashi? it's one of those things you can choose to dismiss as meaningless dialogue but i often do think about it lol)

but instead we have sasuke in the peak of his borderline-demonization by the writing, which just leads to there not being much of an interesting dialogue at all. i'm not opposed to kakashi's sharingan being something that sasuke comes to resent either — it could be very fun character writing as that is the very thing that encouraged them to bond in the first place —, but i don't like the way it was done and i ESPECIALLY hate how it was immediately dropped like BROTHER MY PLOT THREADS... THEY'RE FALLING APART...

i could go on about a thousand different other things, such as.

sorry to mention jiraiya but. the rasengan vs chidori thing is VERY telling; jiraiya is naruto's mentor, and kakashi is sasuke's, this is reflected best when the kids each use their respective Overkill Jutsu at each other and the adults each take responsibility for their own kid

again, i'm unsure if it's fully intentional but there is this opposition of orochimaru vs kakashi other than the obvious confrontational scene they have. the very fact that kakashi is the one to put a limit to orochimaru's literal influence on sasuke through the curse mark is a very interesting narrative choice! kakashi is also extremely afraid of orochimaru and highly protective of sasuke; again it reads as a Personal fear/protectiveness rather than purely Professional to me. it builds this idea of kakashi being one of sasuke's choices, and orochimaru being the other (and we know which one he chooses unfortunately lol)

chidori in general is like. crazy btw. it becomes sasuke's signature move. and it's kakashi's creation. hi

this is also something that was dropped but there was also the occasional pointing out of similarities between, fucking, lee and gai of all people vs kakashi and sasuke? and like i don't need to explain this one that much right. gai is lee's dad in like everything but name LOL (and much like kakashi he also has questionable habits when it comes to how he teaches his kid)

but this is way too long LMFAO my tldr is that I Like Them And I Wish They Had More Screentime </3

their dynamic concretely to me is about caring very much about someone who shares a lot of pain with you, but being a little intimidated by that shared aspect. nothing hurts more than failing / being failed By someone who you know DOES understand you, in the end!

it's all my personal preference of course there's no right or wrong way to read naruto (well the wrong way is thinking it's good.) (joke) but i WAS surprised to not see sasuke and kakashi's relationship being discussed more (esp. with empathy for both characters) because well. obviously it's one of my favorite naruto things GFKDMGKFDM

@soggedboytroutanti mentioned a few days ago that a 'Peter wearing his ghost outfit but for real' au was interesting so I thought I'd give a little overview of my regency romance story idea. I won't start it for real until I've finished Teeth That Turn, but if it seems intriguing I may write some bits to share ahead of that. Here's the basic summary of the story:

Solomon Lauter is the most politically powerful man in town, but his position is precarious. If he doesn't get elected again, his 'new wealth' status will get him thrown out of the places and events that his role as mayor has allowed him into. His only real option to solve this problem is to marry his daughter to one of the good families in town. Unfortunately, after his wife died, he basically ignored his daughter until she was old enough to bring into society. That has resulted in a rebellious, improper girl he can not push to do anything. Her refusal to do as she is told is the biggest hurdle between Solomon and his goals.

The most eligible bachelor in town is Max Jägerman. He is old money, he is wealthy, he is handsome, and he is an absolute dick. Despite her detest for Max, Stephanie is pushed by her father to try and woo him to secure her future. All she wanted to do at events was hang out in the corner with Peter Spankoffski and make snarky comments about the ugly dresses of Mrs. Monroe, but Peter isn't an acceptable match according to her father, so she has to focus on Max instead.

Stephanie isn't the only girl who wanted to woo Max. Most of the eligible girls in town want to have a chance at gaining his love, but none more so than Grace Chasity. Grace wants the best possible match, the best possible husband, and she is GOING to get it. The fact that her best friend Stephanie is also attempting to gain her future husband's favor is an utter betrayal, and something needed to be done about it. She isn't attracted to Max, obviously, but the best thing a good Christian woman of her status could do was find an appropriate husband and have many children. Did she think about touching his hair and his chest and his- no! Obviously not! She is simply trying to do what was correct: find a suitable husband and do her duty to the lord.

Peter Spankoffski, however, is not actually looking for a match. The Spankoffski family is old money, but their father squandered it all prior to Peter's birth. Not only that, but he seduced a married woman, creating his brother Ted, and then married her after her husband died. At least Peter is legitimate due to that, he had that going for him, but nothing else. His father's reputation follows him everywhere he goes, and they don't have the money to bring him out into society properly. Despite the hand-me-down clothes and terrible family name, Peter has a good head on his shoulders and has aspirations to bring back his family's social standing and fortune. If Stephanie could wait a few years for him to get on his feet, if her father would give him the time... but no. He won't, and Peter will never gain her father's approval. The best thing he can do is support her in her search for a better husband.

At least he has his friend Ruth and Richie to comfort him. Richie works for the Spankoffski family as a footman and Ruth works as a maid for the Chasity family. They get a good view of the drama unfolding and decide to... help... to the best of their ability. Whether they can actually help solve this or if they will make things worse is yet to be determined, but they are definitely trying. They have no real interest in romance for themselves, but if that happens while they're busy being meddling matchmakers, that's just a bonus.

Who will end up getting Max's hand? Will Peter be able 'redeem' his family and convince Mr. Lauter of his worth? Will Ruth and Richie succeed in their attempts to influence the matches of the town, or will they make everything worse? All things yet to be determined.

I might add more characters and romances because I think about this sort of thing way too much. Some other little bits include

Paul works as an accountant for the Perkins family and has been in love with the younger daughter of the family for years but hasn't said a word due to the difference in status

Ted also works for the Perkins family because his family is flat broke, and he needs the money regardless of the embarrassment it causes

Richie is Paul's nephew, I might make Trevor his brother but I'm not sure yet

The Perkins family is one of the wealthy families in town, they own a paper mill that works with the lumber mill in town. Jane died about a year ago, their parents died recently. Emma never left town, she was engaged to Gary Goldstein for a time, but she broke it off when he cheated on her and she hasn't dated since

Emma and Jane's parents did not support Jane's marriage to Tom because he is a carpenter and they left Jane nothing when they died. Emma now has a family fortune and no idea what to do with it, hence hiring a team of accountants in the hopes of not fucking things up

Tom genuinely wants none of the Perkins money, he hated Jane's parents and hates everything that goes with it. Emma was firmly in their grip until their death and started reaching out afterwards to try and build a relationship but it's been tough.

Roman Murray owns a shipping company and could easily live somewhere else but instead stays in Hatchetfield because he can rule it financially. He and Solomon are absolute rivals in town.

Linda hates living in Hatchetfield and wants to be in a bigger city with more high society, but she and Gerald love her dad's money and he will take it away if they leave. Gerald is a wealthy doctor, but not that kind of wealth.

Grace's dad is still in real estate, but more as a wealthy landlord. They are slightly new money but it's a generation back further than Steph.

Max's family owns the lumber mill.

Peter's family was old money, aka inherited wealth from ancestors doing well in business. Their dad was a younger son so he didn't actually inherit everything, but he squandered what he did have. Peter's uncle hasn't been in contact with them for ages and lives in Chicago.

Solomon is a self made man, no wealthy background, no family to help. He is a social climber, and an excellent politician which has gotten him this far, but it can't get him over the hurdle of being new on the scene.

Honestly, I'm pretty sure I got a troll at that point. They either hadn't read the story, or had and were missing the point of what this story kind of is. Which is an exploration of relationships of all forms. It doesn't really bother me when they do that. I more just sit back and kind of roll my eyes at it all. Mainly because I am fairly certain it is someone very young and inexperienced with life and thinks they are being funny or relatable.

Mal is going to be one of those characters that I think certain people are going to hate on principal. And that's fine. I can tell you though that an MC is not going to hate them. Just like an MC has not hated any of the RO's yet. Because I don't believe in writing narratives where we get the choice to just actively hate someone because we find something lacking in ourselves. :)

Overall though? Mal may be becoming a fan favorite after only two chapters which blows my mind. And makes me incredibly proud of him.

i think ren would actually encourage me to be outwardly upset more often ;; not in an unhealthy way, but because i don't really express those kinds of things anymore. if something seems like it's upsetting me but i'm not Doing anything with it, he might ask me some questions, probe a bit to see if it's something i REALLY don't want to talk about, and suggest i vent a bit or cry on his shoulder... and once that's done, we'd go fix something to eat and he'd pump me full of electrolyte water LMAO. ;;

(and it's work both ways tbh -- doc!ren has even worse issues with expressing negative emotions than i do, and r!ren expresses them through being bitchy to people who are being bitchy to him ksjdfn, so i'd want to help them vent in healthy ways when they're upset!)

gray's pretty simple with his methods... he's one of the most mature people in wonderland (which isn't saying much tbh, he's just better at it than the others), and since he fills so many job roles while working for nightmare, he knows how to approach people. so he'd sit me down in a quiet room, far from the hustle and bustle of the busy areas of clover tower, and ask what's wrong. he'd let me get it all out, politely interjecting where need be, and then once i'm done he'd suggest that he could make hot drinks for us (to which i'd have to reply that I'D make them kjsnfjkn, i don't trust him to boil water let alone mix ingredients ;;;). and if it turned out that my issue was due to someone being threatening or violent, he would... take care of the issue later... :)

oushirou's a silly guy, but he has a very serious side as well. he'd sit with me, encourage me to let things out, hold my hand, and maybe help problem solve a bit. he likes to keep up a daily stream of communication when possible, so if he got Vibes from an earlier chat, he might let me vent when he gets back home and then be like, "btw i picked up dessert for us on the way back for no particular reason whatsoever, so look forward to that!" he knows i know it WAS for a particular reason, and he lets me huff at him for being frustratingly good at picking up on things i try not to let others see. and while he isn't as retaliatory as gray, if i was upset at something a stranger said / did to me while out and about, he might play bodyguard for a while juuust in case i need someone with a strong kick with me ;;;

mars is quieter in his approach. he'd cuddle up and ask if something was wrong -- they know if it's something important enough to me that i'll let it out with a little prodding. he'd just hold me as i vent, and when i'm done, they'd thank me for feeling like i can trust him. and then we'd just... "move on" -- once the emotions are out it's better to focus on something emotionally fulfilling! he's like a more immediately open oushirou -- it wouldn't take much time for them to feel close enough to pick up on those things and know how to help me deal with them in the moment and after, and like oushirou, they generally know when to play it cool around violent people, when to be threatening, and when to actually make good on those threats.

Galaxy- What do you and your F/O do when one of you is homesick?

both rens have complicated feelings about their family homes, feeling a weird mix of nostalgia and disgust. by the end of his whole story, doc!ren ends up not being able to go back At All, Literally Cannot, so sometimes he has that contradictory, "well now that i CAN'T, a part of me wants to go back after all......" feeling. I think in his case, the only thing we can do is just be together for however long he needs, doing things that remind him of the better moments back there in a, "there are still things from there that you have here," sense.

and this particular s/i's brand of homesickness is like a low, constant, simmering feeling of homesickness they've long adjusted to... poorly adjusted, but adjusted nonetheless hhhh. just being around doc!ren helps to soothe those feelings, and as the relationship continues they start to disappear. "i have a new home now, and it's you," vibes. 💕

r!ren's a bit easier KJNDKJN. he misses visiting his grandparents, who he's closer to than doc!ren is. we'd end up sitting somewhere cozy, and he'd either call or video chat with them and we'd all talk together. i'd start learning french to bridge the gap a bit, but ren would still translate when needed. talking to and spending time with the people he loves helps a ton on its own (he does want to take me to visit them in person at some point though hehe).

this verse is fairly close to reality, aka i live with family, so no homesickness for me lmao.

oushirou is less homesick than one would think -- yeah he's constantly traveling, but it's the one thing he's always known he wanted to do, enough to completely cut contact with his disapproving parents over it. he'd still miss the winter crew and me, and would visit whenever he could, but i'd say it's less like homesickness and more like... if they and i could travel with him, he'd never feel the desire to return home. traveling IS his home. we do, however, having some matching clothes and items so that, when he can't visit for a while or if he loses service and can't call / text, we can still feel connected!

also living at home here so no homesickness for me, but i do miss oushirou dearly, which makes it all the more important to him that we make the most of every possible moment together when he has the opportunity to visit!!

gray doesn't have any homesickness. he's pretty much like everyone in wonderland (except ace) in that regard. -I-, however, do feel some homesickness in spite of myself, and this sends gray in to a quiet panic. in his mind, i'm homesick -> i want to go back home -> i'm going to leave wonderland and never be able to return. so despite knowing how manipulative it is, he constantly takes me out on dates (platonic or romantic) to places he KNOWS i'll adore. wonderful restaurants, art supply shops, spots on the roads between locations that he thinks i might want to draw, doing physical activities that i can't manage back home... he wants to show me that wonderland is better than anything i had going on before. he'd freely admit to all of this if i called him out on it or if it seemed like it was making things worse, but despite his mature exterior he really is just as willing to sweep details under the rug as any other wonderland resident if it means keeping someone he cares about nearby.

Black Hole- Have you ever had a strange dream about your F/O?

all of my oc f/os have been sourced from strange dreams tbh so i won't even go into them lJSNIFLN, their stories are really just edited versions of my initial dreams about them.

i have Fucking Weird dreams about oushirou all the time though. it's mostly things like "i found a secondhand shop for doujin, and there's SO MUCH OUSHIROU DOUJIN I'VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE!!! I HAVE TO BUY IT ALL!!!!"... but also absolutely unhinged shit, like one where we met at a library we were sheltering in and, over the course of a couple of days, fell in love, he was bitten by an animal and developed RABIES????, we decided to get married before he was too far gone, and then i became a widow. so. KJNAKJN.

and i won't go too far into details bc i said i wouldn't, but mars was technically created from an oushirou dream set in a zombie apocalypse. he was a test subject to see if zombies could be "brought back", and i was brought in as like... an impromptu chat buddy to help with socialization. scientific overreach etc etc the arrogance of man etc etc. years later i rewrote it to make more logical sense, made that oushirou into my oc, and used the whole thing to work through chronic illness feelings (yay yippee love to dump my issues on my ocs weehee)!

i've also had some very weird ones with raven, like when he and rita slipped through spacetime into this world, and we met by chance and all bonded pretty quickly. or when he was an... instructor? at some kind of summer camp for adults?? and while it didn't seem like i stood out to him much at first, he actually stuck up for me at one point and kept wanting to connect after that. idk, weird things with no real rhyme or reason but that don't even come CLOSE to the weirdness of the oushirou dreams lol.

doc!ren: he's very good at sussing out things that someone would ENJOY doing but may not have a reason to go out of their way to do, so he helps me get out of my comfort zone safely and understands if/when i hit my energy limit. i also love when he feels he trusts me enough to release "you will regret this" levels of infodump on me KJNFKJN, it's so cute and sweet and his enthusiasm is contagious.

r!ren: my LORD is he good at making me feel special!! and with his personality, it's clear it isn't just a matter of niceties or being a flirt. i feel so happy every time i can see how genuine he his, how far he's willing to go just to provide comfort, how he wants to be around me just as much as, if not more than, i do. how, if i have to cancel a date bc of a flare-up, he'll immediately come over with a care package filled with healthy (and secret not-so-healthy 🤫) goodies to keep me going for a day or two. 🥺

oushirou: genuinely just... his everything. but in particular, his over-the-top silly antics really get me. he'll make mundane things sooo dramatic just for the sillies + the joy it brings to others. he has great emotional intelligence and puts his ALL into helping those around him feel better. (also i know vaguely-horny does not equal happy.... but he sure does make me happy when he canonically KICKS THROUGH DOORS ksndfkjn like helloooooo?? sir??? 😳 that one scene has made me so Not Normal for the past 11 years....)

mars: something as simple as holding their hand. we're both very protective of each other -- we kind of have to be, given our situation -- so they often provide a sense of comfort. whether we're just sitting and reading together, or we're doing some activity to stimulate his cognitive function, or we simply cuddle in his holding chamber, they emanate a strong sense of safety, and i can really feel it through his light hand touches and rubbing the back of my hand with their thumb. and in a world that's gone to shit, that simple, caring touch means so much.

gray: OOOOOH his gap moe mode kjsndfkjn. after the serious answers, i get to the serious character and my answer is just "when he goes googoo gaga over anything soft and fluffy." he's so cute in jnkna when he's fishing on a frozen lake and a little seal becomes his companion 😭 and he names it after alice and puts a little alice bow on it 😭😭 he even gets cute when peter turns into his rabbit form -- as peter yells and scratches and curses at everyone, gray's still like 😳 bnnuy.... 💕💕💕💕💕

raven: when he's being a little drama queen ksjndfjn. i think there's plenty of room for quiet, serious talks that end with us feeling happy with our situation, but nothing beats when he's teasing karol or being a little silly guy! just a little 5'7 guy!! and it's his birthday!!!!! etc ksjdnk. his skits always crack me up, bc more often than not he's so unhinged for NO REASON! he's just LIKE THAT!! and yet he still thinks "raven" is a mask. nah man. you are all of your masks, the masks were always part of you, and that means part of you is a silly little trickster and Local Weirdo (tm).

I want to scream into the void and rant about offline stuff, but I also feel this huge hesitation of posting too much detail on the internet, so, here's as short and vague as I could pare it down to:

just basically feeling super overwhelmed by "adulting" offline stuff including: buying a new house, moving but taking several months to actually pack/move/unpack, selling the old house, shopping for more furniture to fill the new house, being constantly ill since early October, researching and choosing new doctors (including primary care and OBGYN), having a rough stretch of OCD and anxiety ickiness, having to stop fencing for medical reasons (not related to fencing, i did not get injured, i just have Other stuff going on), and experiencing the general holiday fatigue of gift shopping and event hopping

I spend my free time handling the above items, on top of the usual daily chores of, you know, laundry and cleaning and "what do you mean i have to make another meal again i just ate"

and i haven't really had any time to connect with my creative outlets -- posting on tumblr, writing, playing the uke, even DND to a small extent (not enough time to put into character building between sessions) although DND has been like the ONE thing still happening

and it just sucks and I want to write but when I finally do get time I'm just so tired, so i just ended up scrolling mindlessly on tumblr or watching dumb youtube videos -- if I'm lucky instead I'll watch an actual play show but for a bit I was caught up on CR and Fantasy High and didn't know what to watch next because the next season comes out so soon so I don't want to get caught up in something else

[side bar: been working my way through one-shots, finished the amazing Escape from the Bloodkeep and I'm almost done with Mice and Murder. Mice and Murder has been super fun and entertaining and I kinda want to play a clue style rpg now -- side side bar but i collect clue variations -- and with the RO anniversary on my mind I've been wanting to read like a clue or sherlock holmes style AU but i have been having trouble finding one? like it can't have been 7 years with no sherlock holmes type rebelcaptain AU? maybe i need to try different AUs or search terms or filters? anyways. would also read a shadowgast murder mystery AU too, still mostly reading shadowgast fic anyways although EVEN FIC I haven't been reading as much either, but the RO anniversary had me thinking about Them again a little bit]

anyways i kinda felt like posting here would help me feel a little bit more connected, i guess, to the creative side of myself? since this is sort of my primary creative outlet, or used to be, if that makes sense.

also i saw a post about something called get your words out, which had some writing goals that looked attainable even for me with all the Stuff happening, and that has felt a little bit like -- something to maybe look forward to, to maybe help me get back into things... I don't know if I'll pledge yet and maybe I'd just do something for myself in that vein but yeah. something more interesting to think about than searching my insurance website or shopping for shelving or chairs or sofas...

i definitely enjoyed twc book 3, but i 100% get where people who were somewhat disappointed are coming from as well. i think the biggest issue that covers what most people complain about is the pacing of it. and tbh considering mishka's said from the start that this was going to be a relatively minor book plot-wise compared to the next big turning point in book 4, i do think it could have been a lot cleaner if it was like 150-200K words shorter. i get wanting to keep the pace/word count of previous books, but i think trying to do it with an objectively more minor plot meant some parts got stretched out and others squeezed to make it fit. the ending in particular suffers for it - the build up to it already felt stretched out at times and the ending being as abrupt as it was made it seem even worse in hindsight.

but to be clear, i definitely enjoyed it on the whole and don't regret the wait or buying it. questionable pacing aside it's not *poorly* written by any stretch, unit bravo is the same wonderful mess we know and love, new and old members of the supporting cast are a delight, and the romances are lovely (and occasionally angsty) as always. is it a bit of a step down compared to the last two? honestly, yes. is it still better than most works in this genre? also yes, so i can live with it. on a scale of 1-10, book 1 is a 9.5, book 2 is a 9, and as of now i'd put book 3 and a 7.5.

this was really well put and based off what i’ve got done so far i agree with you definitely. i think a lot of things were kinda just rushed together and made for kind of a jilted plot does that make sense? like idk too meshed together kinda like it doesn’t come off real flowy. but i digress!

what i am enjoying are the friendships!! m’s especially is so fun. admitting the detective is their friend is so!!!! love that for me. and at heart i am an angst lover so i do crave the suffering (sorry to the ros.. it’s all in love i swear) and i will say f’s route was a big serotonin boost ❤️‍🩹.

okay so! I feel like i owe someone special a explanation on what I'm about to do with my game and quite frankly I don't really know I'm working on the script right now but as far as when I'm going to post the prologue and at least I don't know post it to itch.io or something I have no clue because honestly I don't have any clue on when I'm going to have even the prologue done I want to incorporate a lot of the upcoming features and characters into the prologue but honestly that would make it too long it's too much of a struggle including the coding and of course me figuring out how I want to actually decorate the page and everything else since I'm actually reading my whole account previously I had a whole team helping me even with small bits and pieces but the team has technically broken up due to some technical issues so now it's only me while I will be struggling with the game ask are open and I would actually encourage people to ask more about the characters or the game itself because I feel like it would actually do me some good and that probably give me some writing inspiration. But nonetheless I am working on the game and I think I'm getting some pretty good process I am going to probably post three of the Ro's today or tomorrow it is 9:11 p.m. for me so it might be tomorrow it just all depends on if I finish the third love interest and about like 30 minutes or more.while my schedule will be busy since a lot of family stuff is going on I will try to post update updates every one to three weeks maybe more or less than that I don't know this is going to be a long time long-term thing and this is going to be multiple projects at the same time like I'd like is just one part of what's probably going to be 10 parts of a game the game will come out and books like petition or any other game that I've got an expression off of not black and copying or copying at all I've just got got an inspiration off their formats and some help with coding from other creators that I like,well now I'm just rambling but I did feel like I owe the person explanation because I had actually forgotten the game for a good minute and I looked on my page and they reminded me so once again thank you and honestly I am so so so so so so so sorry for not posting it on my other page a lot sooner I still haven't posted it but I will and I'll post this same thing on that page later. Omg Heathen! Hello! I haven't seen you in forever welcome back! Congrats on not being stuck in this hellsite like I have been for the past five years :)

I do have tumblr polls! I don't have a lot to ask about though so I haven't used them much--though I do have a poll about whether sock seams or sleeves bunched inside other sleeves are worse at the moment. Also when I was adding vanilla to my oatmeal this morning I couldn't help thinking about. Vanilla Extract. I'm never going to escape it now.

As for the presentations, that's part of Roisin's Reading Rumble! Roisin (aka camelspit) found a study guide of questions for the first keeper book on Shannon's actual official website, and he started the rumble with it! Essentially, for about 2 weeks she posted one of the questions (we didn't do all of them, he omitted a few), and anyone who wanted to participate would reblog with their answer. Roisin, aka Professor Spit, would then grade them the next day and provide the next question.

It turned into a bit of a thing--in a good way. We all played into the bit. I got sent to Time Out and that was a whole thing for a day or two. We got invested in it, but of course not everyone has the time or focus to consistently answer the questions. So after a while it was mostly me and two other people (Ashton and Gail!), and Professor Spit started developing lore for the class. he kept hinting at horrible things happening to good students. About a curse. And then on the final day, she posted this lore. So that's essentially what the reading rumble is, which connects to the presentations because they are the final assignment of the Reading Rumble! Those of us who signed up create a presentation of some kind about a character we were assigned (I chose Ro), and the posting goes until the 14th! Whether we'll get eaten by the beast afterwards remains to be seen, but it's been a fun bit of like. almost an rpg-ish interaction with each other :)

Also oh no! School! I'm the same, I like learning and there are a few classmate's whose ideas I like hearing. But I don't enjoy physically going to school (very draining and time consuming) and I don't like homework. That's not counting my online classes, those I'm more okay with because I picked the courses. There is a fair bit of work though. And one of the classes is a bit of a disaster technologically, but oh well.

As for names, I don't really have a preference! I've been using Quil so consistently for so long that I usually default to it, and it's what most people solely know me as so. I don't expect many people to change or need them to. The Dira is mostly for my sake. But people are also welcome to use it! I've had the idea maybe I'd use it more in Spanish since it sounds better with the accent, and then Quil could be more for English, but I haven't really decided.

With names, people can basically just call me whatever they want! I'm not particular. Pick one of the two, switch between them, call me a nickname, pick a random name you want to call me, whatever! I'm very loose with names and labels and everything :)

I'm going to have to make an entire presentation on Monday (we've known about this for weeks I just haven't done it and I will not spend my weekend time on it) and then give it sometime after that, and I'm not looking forward to it. But I worked it out with my professor that I wouldn't have to give the second presentation this semester if I did this one (he knows I don't enjoy them, but does want my peers to benefit from me sharing). So it's. I'll get through it.

Writers update [2022/03/17]

I have to start with thanking you. I can't tell you how happy I am to answer your questions and thoughts, I am so honored and humbled by your curiosity and support! :sobs: Ouroboros has been with me as an escape for so long, to get to share it with people is so scary but rewarding beyond words. Thank you so much!! 

Now, progress. Right now, I'm about halfway through the polishing of the demo; I have added choices and rewritten some others, generally just fixing up and making pretty. And of course, adding even more stubborn and chaotic MC choices. *snort* 

Your suggestions have been priceless! I can’t tell you how much fun I had writing the princess-carrying (+another choice ) Id, I’m dying to get this update out so I can get your reactions. :’)

I'm also adding Unicode-hints as I go, so that will be all done by the time I finish fixing.

As for forward writing, the scene with Lena and Bell is almost done :> 

I will be adding that, and the RO one-on-ones with the next demo update. I want to see if I can write some beyond that, but I have to stitch together what I already have first. Right now I can't promise an exact date for the demo refresh, but I will give 2-3 days warning in case anyone wants to finish playing their save. I'd say that a demo update is at least a week or two away, depending on how much time I have for writing.

As for prompts both smutty and prim, I have a solution! Because I want to torture you with the emotional rollercoaster that Ouroboros is, I will be answering spoilery RO reactions and other writing drabbles in a sort of alternate universe, if you will.  Somewhere the conflicts and dilemmas of Ouro are not present. I think it could work. I currently have some asks I want to smash together and write out in some very spicy drabbles for every RO.   What do you think?

I was tagged by @four-rabbit for a writing challenge with the prompt "How many have you got?" My brain has been glued to a new AU idea I had where Remus shows up on Roman's door step with an 18-month-old Virgil in tow, fresh from an abusive relationship, so that's what y'all get.

TW: mentions of abuse, scars, and very vaguely implied non-con. Hurt/comfort, Angst with a fluffy-adjacent ending.

Roman's eye caught a dark miscoloration under Remus's shirt, and stepped in his way. "Whoa, hey, what is that?" He asked pushing the neckline away to get a better look. The shape of an octopus became apparent when he saw the whole thing in full.

"It's a...sharpie tattoo," Remus answered.

"Oh! I thought you had a bruise or something!" The relief in Roman's voice turned to confusion. "Wait, you drew that on yourself?"

"Naw, I had Virgil do it for me. He's got great fine motor skills for not even being two yet. Huh, buddy?" He glanced up to the top balanced on his shoulders and clinging to his fingers. "Hey, if you want some work done we could schedule you in."

"Ha-ha. It's pretty good for doing in yourself."

"Thanks. I'd get it more permanently done, but, y'know, havin'a kid's kinda expensive."

Roman shook his head. "I thought you hated needles?"

"Turns out I hate scars even more," Remus answered with a forced casual tone. He lifted Virgil from his shoulders and set him on his hip as he opened the door to the fridge.

"How many have you got?" Roman asked, watching carefully as Remus plucked a cup from the fridge and handed it to Virgil. "Kids? Just one and yes, I'm sure about that. Sara and I were very monogamous."

"That's not what I meant, Rem."

Remus let out a low sigh. "Not as many as you're thinking. She wasn't that bad-"

"You said she ruptured your eardrum!"

"She didn't mean to! She just-"

"Just what? Was trying to slap you like normal person? Remus,-"

"I know!" He snapped, making Virgil jump in his arms. He rested a hand to the back of Virgil’s head, murmuring an apology and kissing his forehead before glancing up at Roman again. "I know," he said again, quietly. Calmly. "I know it was bad. But it's not like she was beating with anything. She was just hitting me. So, no, there's not a whole lot of scars. I mean, there's a few because sometimes she threw coffee mugs or something. She bashed my head into the counter once. She did bad stuff to me, but I got lucky and not a lot of it left a scar. Not on my body at least."

Roman let out a sigh and shook his head. "I'm sorry-"

"I get it. You're my brother. I woulda asked you the same thing if it was the other way around. I appreciate the worry at least."

"Still, Remus, I-"

"Ro. Don't worry about it. I-" He stopped and glanced down at Virgil, who's face scrunched up as he grunted. "Really? Right now? You're gonna do this right in the middle of mine and Uncle Ro's heart to heart? That's bad timing, kid."

"What's he- Holy crap!" Roman began fanning his face. "Is that him?" He demanded at the sudden stench that filled the kitchen.

"I told you not to give him asparagus," Remus answered, flatly. Virgil’s face soured as a cry built up in his tiny chest and he burst into tears. Remus snickered sympathetically and kissed his head. "I'd say just wait till you're potty trained, but that doesn't make asparagus poops any better. I'll getcha all cleaned up, sweetheart, don't worry. And next time Uncle Roman gives you something that comes with a warning label he'll clean you up."

"Sorry!" Roman called as Remus carried his wailing child away.

"You will be!" Remus hollered back.
