last song: Sweet Bod by Lemon Demon! i was listening to the playlist i made for one of my dnd characters (shoutout to mel, the sorcerer ever) and sweet bod was actually the main inspiration for her as a character (she was mummified in honey for abt 100 years and then she came back to life)! but yeah i rlly like making and then listening to character playlists for my oc's (mostly ttrpg characters, but b'rsh bran the kitty ever gets to have 3 playlists)

currently reading: i am veeeeery slowly reading house of leaves, i rlly like it so far, its just that for me sitting down to read a book is kind of a commitment so i dont rlly read as often as i'd like to

currently watching: me and one of my housemates have been rewatching arcane, and before that she got me to watch the dragon prince! dragon prince was rlly fun and sweet, and i love cool fantasy stories :3

current obsession: i'm currently in 2 dnd campaigns with some friends (and i'm preparing to run my own!) and whenever i make oc's for anything i end up thinkin rlly hard abt them (shoutout to b'rsh bran the kitty ever, mel the flynn rider/jesus mashup the world wasn't ready for, and isadora who is just. so sad all the time.)

im also a HUGE fan of the magnus archives, i've been relistening to it at work recently and i managed to get several of my friends to start listening to it >:) i love it so much its such a cool setting and the characters are so neat and cool and i think abt it pretty much constantly

OH AND I REALLY LIKE SIGNALIS. PLEASE TALK TO ME ABOUT SIGNALIS. I AM SO NORMAL ABOUT SIGNALIS ITS THE GAME EVER I DONT EVEN USUALLY LIKE PLAYING SURVIVAL HORROR BUT THAT GAME DID SOMETHING TO MY BRAIN THAT I CANT EVEN COMPREHEND.

also of course i am always thinking abt ffxiv and b'rsh bran, the kitty ever :3 (i love her so much and shes so cool and silly and just. the kitty ever!) also my friends who play ffxiv all have rlly neat wols so i think abt their wols too :)

hell yea man! i honestly recommend the movie if you're at all into fantasy its got a really great plot even without knowing dnd

man don't i feel having a million dnd ocs lmao, i could be a dm with a fully stocked npc folder with the amount of tieflings i design :p props again for the fantastic idea lol

also- to answer your tags from the og ask- generally no two people will ever have exactly the same takes on ocs or ideas and i don't usually care if people take inspiration from my ocs so long as its not just like. fully copying my oc you know? :p but in this case especially since it was your suggestions to begin with you are more than welcome to use it but i am absolutely turning my guy into a full oc i love him so much lol

all this dnd postin is making me want to play sooo bad!!! u guys play online right? what service do u host it on, if u mind me asking? do u guys use roll 20 or are yous just rawdoggin it on discord? i wanna get a campaign together so bad but my close friend group rn isnt super into it or theyre super busy with school/work. i was thinkin of joining a roll 20 group i dunno that much abt it.

I actually found my group here on Tumblr!! Kind of a funny story, but long story short, we were all Ronance blogs, we got on Discord, and I spontaneously decided I wanted to try D&D and they were all down. We play over Discord’s voice and video chat function, with various text channels for talking, art, various writing, that sort of thing!! We have a bot for ambient music (I use Muzox), and another for dice rolls (Dice Golem), but I also trust my players if they prefer physical dice. :) If you’re wanting to DM, I could toss out some of the links I use (thanks @/candle-lion for those!!). Also would recommend a group Google Drive for storing art, character sheets, and campaign material (ie letters found by characters).

Battle maps are a little harder, but there’s this really cool website called Aggie.io that essentially allows multiple people to draw on a singular canvas, each with their own layer. I could make a tutorial, if anyone was curious?? But to simplify, everyone has a token on their own layer, with a layer for background, and a grid, and then each player can move their own characters around. The DM can also have separate layers for NPCs to move them easier. It’s probably not as fancy as Roll20, but it works for us!!

As far as Roll20—I don’t have much experience with the site outside of reference material. I’ve heard good things, and I’ve played with the map stuff before, but I actually prefer my current method. As far as finding a group—again, I haven’t really used Roll20, and I know I admittedly got lucky with online friends who wanted to play!! I was worried about Roll20 because it’s hard to gauge strangers, and as a queer, gnc, afab person, sometimes it can be a little scary trying to find a group that won’t be sketchy about that. The best thing I could recommend is finding yourself a little online community, like the fine folks here on Tumblr, and maybe a few of them will be down to give it a try!!

This got a little rambly, but I hope it made sense!! In any case, I wish you luck with finding a good group. I got so lucky with mine, and I hope you do too. A good group is worth the world, man. This game is so incredibly fun. 🫶

so remember how i was talking abt posting my dnd character fanfics? well here we go, i am in a mood and thinking about my gal, so if anybody feels like reading a couple pages of anxious gay shit go wild. this is 99% just me validating myself lmao but it’s the first thing i’ve written in several years that i’ve actually finished

requisite context for anyone who is vaguely interested: jube is my recently-retired d&d gunslinger, marigold is her now-fiancée; their relationship was a big part of jube’s arc bc they’ve been BFFs since childhood and dated for 15 years and jube was secretly a career criminal who lied to marigold for the entire length of their relationship in order to cover up gang shit, until marigold found out and dumped her. it was EXTREMELY WARRANTED, marigold p much went “well if you love lying so much, you dug your own grave, go lie in it, i don’t wanna hear from you again until you’ve figured out how to be even half a decent person,” then took all her shit and left. the same day marigold dumped her, the gangs jube worked with discovered that she’d been double-crossing them for extra cash, and jube’s apartment got blown up while she was inside in an assassination attempt. she barely escaped with her life, fled across the country, had a moral existential crisis, and decided to start adventuring to try and redeem herself so maybe she could prove to marigold (and herself) that she’s more than just a lying piece of shit. which she did! she figured it out! pulled her life together, learned to feel genuinely sorry for what she’d done, made some new friends & helped found a lil adventuring guild with them, she and marigold reconciled and marigold actually proposed to her during the campaign finale. but like, she’s still got a LOT of lingering issues, trauma from the apartment fire, anxiety, the works. she convinced marigold that she’s a good person but she hasn’t convinced herself, & most of the fics i’ve been writing (like this one) are exploring various aspects of the aftermath.

I was in an awful place when i started bc i just lost a friend group (actually someone in that group was the reason i was hesitant to start taz) and i had hit a major creative slump and just. Was about as unhappy as i was with my abusive ex.

Then i start taz and decide "hey i wanna play dnd ive always kind of wanted to but this podcast has made me want to get serious abt finding a group" and found a new, MUCH kinder and accepting friend group and a wonderful creative outlet. Like these ppl are so nice and i actually feel loved and appreciated by them and they enjoy the character i play and like...i have something short term to look forward to which is amazing.

And it also got me back into writing (ADMITTEDLY i mostly write taz fan fics but hey) which has helped my mood a lot i forgot just how happy writing makes me (most the time sometimes im just hard on myself but im working on it)

Theres other shit too but like...idk man this dumb podcast just means a lot to me and im glad i have it
