my passion to draw is a blessing and a curse man

like i am super duper motivated after doing so many ref sheets but it causes me to feel robotic in a sense. i rarely get “traditional” artblock. sure i will have breaks but thats normal, and when i do actually get artblock it lasts for a short time.

im not sure how im gonna do on artfight this year but i think im gonna beat my 25 attack record lol

side note: i would love to do paid commissions in the future, but i don’t think art will ever be my main job lol. but i think it can be a good side hustle :3 my parents tell me i could be working for disney or something but uhhh i rather draw ppl’s personal sparkledogs 😭- also also animation doesn’t equal my art skill i can do basic pixelart gifs at most lol

Artfight is a yearly art trade game! You can upload your ocs to your page and once artfight starts you can join a team and draw other peoples ocs for points and vice versa. whichever team has the most points at the end of July wins :) I’ve been doing it for the last couple of years and its rly fun

What I've Been Up To And Upcoming Projects

So, I know i havnt been posting much art lately. It's mostly been reblogs.

I want to change that, and i have quite a few ideas for what i'm going to be getting up to. Some of the projects have already been set in motion.

But first things first, where have i been? Well for one i moved. It was under very stressful conditions and the reason for my household moving was imperative so there was a strict deadline. That was super stressful and with the unpacking and adjusting to the new house i haven't had a chance to fully recover yet. My mental health has also been pretty janky recently. The move was super bad for me in every way and i was coming off an antidepressant around that time and starting a new one. That also caused some problems. I also wrecked my arms kinda bad doing WAY more physical labor than i should have recently, so drawing for long periods of time has been painful.

Now, onto what i have going on with my art.

Art Commissions in exchange for Sky IAP

For starters, i'm going to be opening my art commissions for in app purchases on Sky children of the light! I will have around 3 slots open i think (all in exchange for days of rainbow iap or candle packs). So expect a post about that soon! If you want to dm me or reply to this post because you are interested in that and dont want to wait until i get all the info organized in a pretty infographic we can discuss it. I will be down for both Sky related art and non Sky related art. Also as a note i will be advertising both here on tumblr and on reddit

A side blog dedicated to my pokemon OCs Orion and Ai

I have already made the blog and started on the ref sheets, typing up the story, working on rough drafts of comics, and organizing all the info in an easy to access way. You can find the blog @ask-orion-and-ai but nothing is posted there as of yet and the pfp is temporary. The story will mainly focus on Orion, Ai, Ingo, and Emmet. It will be driven by the fact that Ingo and Ai have been sent back to Hisui and that Emmet and Orion are looking for them

My music related side blog

So i already made a post about this but i did make another side blog for music related things. I have been working hard the last couple days to set up the queue for the first couple months of the blog running so that i can mostly leave it alone. The groundwork is done so i can now only have to work on it occasionally and can focus my efforts on other things as well

the more i think abt it the more im realizing that im probably jus burnt out. like. ive written so much since school got out in may and now its been over a month easy and i rly havent taken any break at all?? and thats been fine and all bc i rly havent been able to write like this in such a long time. i stopped seriously doing anything in january last year and had my wrist surgery in may and went back to school at the end of july so like. giving myself a month to recoup from surgery shortens that window even less, i rly didnt write hardly anything all last year. the most was in april after i had that steroid shot but even then i think i tried to give my hand a break. and then between semesters i rly didnt do a whole lot writing-wise bc i was just exhausted Period. 

needless to say all of this is basically me proving that i havent had free time + energy + physical ability to write like this in so long and now all of it is catching up to me. like its not that im not having fun im jus Tired. im at the point where everything is so much work, and when i look back i feel like everything ive done is trash, and its rly taking a toll on me bc im not giving myself space to breathe. 

which is why i think i need to jus. stop. for a minute. i’d like to wrap up these few things that have been on hold for a while but i need a hard break for a minute. like its not that writing is stressful or anything rn its jus all ive been doing and even if im not consciously aware of it i am getting tired of it. which. id rather avoid at all costs tbh.

so um. this is longer than intended im jus rambling to myself at this point. i think after this week is finished im gonna unbox this display tablet ive had since march and work on artfight refs and do other things other than Write until july hits. and then see if things get better from there
