This is my first knolling project. I'm really happy with how this piece turned out. Vintage Travel was the concept I wanted to convey by curating a few of my treasures. The space between objects creates balance and harmony and the sedate background allowed the artifacts to take center stage.

Happy Earth Day, my friends! 🌎 There are plenty of things that I love about selling vintage goodies for a living, but one of the most important is the fact that I get to lend a helping hand to Mother Nature! When you buy vintage goodies, you not only save treasures from turning into trash, you're also supporting the 'reduce, reuse, recycle' mentality - why buy something brand new when a perfectly good (probably even better!) vintage version of what you need is out there just waiting for you!? Just take my dreamy vintage globe collection, for example: I mean, sure--these globes may not have alllll of the current countries on them (hey there, U.S.S.R.!), but I'd argue that they have a LOT more personality and charm than their recently made counterparts, wouldn't you? I have a good friend of mine, and he also became my client for advertising when I sold advertising. First real quick overview of his first business.His first business was a construction company.It failed because he failed to plan properly. Basically he ran into a combination of factors where customer cash flow dried up, people who owed him money didn't pay, and he had invested every penny he earned back into the business and he didn't have the liquidity to survive the down turn.He then went to get a regular day job, and during that time he started an Asphalt business.Now with Asphalt he knew he wanted to do a few thingsOrganic advertising (he's amazing at social media, pushing the word out, has execellent CRM usage etc)Keep costs low (he buys his equipment used, he tries to use everything he can, example in his business he often ends up with enough material to do drive ways for residential so he has what he calls a last drop sale where at the end of a job he'll use his CRM to find customers who wanted a better deal and he'll call them and go "Hey I can come to your house right now and I'll give you a 50% discount" he does this because if he doesn't use his material he has to throw it away and it's better to use it and get something then nothingPart of his business plan calls for 3-5 months of emergency fund which is to help the company get through rough times (this was a lesson he learned in his 1st venture_Now he's lucky he's become quite propular and has a lot of business booked out and as of right now the virus hasn't negatively impacted his business...but it will.He can survive according to him maybe 8 months with no income, he has about 4 months of business expenses.He's already told all his guys if they have to shut down shop, everyone on his crew will be paid out 70%, no need to file for unemployment plus he'll make sure they all maintain their healthcare/etc.And I think times like this we should all take a lesson, and in our business plans always plan for a downturn. I think every business should have at least 3 months of business expenses in an emergency fund.

The concept in this photo was to organize 15 of my favourite scarfs neatly. 

The element of colour was used in this knolling as I arranged the scarfs, top to bottom, from lightest to darkest. The element of dynamic compositional movement is also used since the eye moves smoothly from the bottom of the image towards the top given the triangular outline of the scarfs. The outline represents a hierarchy therefore, the bottom is noticed by the eye first.

#ProudParentMoment last week as my daughter asked for a "real" tool kit. NOT proud because "she's a girl", but because this is a young, curious kid with #selfsufficiency and #learning in mind and that builds along with skills and confidence. Even threw in a small first aid kit. She'll be exited about personalizing the kit label tonight. :) Her younger brother will be on my case to put one together for him in 3....2...1. Cosy sunday
