Battambang's Amazing Things to Do & See
The largest rice-bowl of Cambodia, Battambang truly emerges picturesque countryside while the colonial town remains French architecture, old yellow buildings and some of Angkorian temples are still in good condition including Banan and Ek Phnom temples. However, visiting Battambang, tourists never leave Battambang without experiencing the unique Bamboo train. Featured by the significant Sangker River, the walkable riverside gives short highlights of evening activities and street food you may love to try. Among other reputable destinations in Cambodia, Battambang uniquely provides wonderful experience from the authentic local attractions, cultural insiders and historical places in the region.

Everyone assumed that I was a mute.
It wasn't necessarily their fault, because no one had actually heard me speak.
It wasn't a choice on my behalf, but a decree my father had made as far back as I can remember.
Never speak to anyone that I do not approve of.
Which was everyone that I had ever laid eyes on.
So I chose never to speak to anyone for as long as my father lived.
But then it wasn't really up to me
The Angkor Festival had arrived, and the small town of Battambang were flooded with tourists from every country you could think of.
My father was right there to welcome them all with warm smiles and friendly greetings.
Not only was he hoping to bring in more money for the economy, but the Democratic Party that he was apart of had other plans brewing for bigger and more ambitious things.
Usually he didn't like to include me in anything political, but today was different.
Instead of being escorted straight home by my own personal guardian assigned to me, one of his bodyguards arrived to take me directly to his place of work.
Not only was it out of character, but I had a very strong sense that something was wrong.
As we came closer to my father's office, I could see a limo parked elegantly in the section reserved for VIP's only.
Only the very wealthy people could afford to ride in a limo here in Cambodia.
"We have arrived, Miss Kanya." It took me a moment to realise the car had stopped and the driver had already opened my door for me.
I nodded my gratitude before sliding gracefully out of the backseat, gazing wearily at the building standing before me.
I had never once shown an interest in my father's occupation, even as a child I had seen what poilticians were capable of.
My father was no different, but our culture just made it look like it was the Englishman's idea.
As I walked in and waited at the front desk, I caught sight of a foreigner sitting arrogantly in my father's office.
He was a very brooding man with dark short hair, his eyes a piercing ice blue as he looked intently at someone out of my view.
The suit he wore was nothing like the suits the businessman around here wore, it wasn't generic and definitely made him stand out from a crowd.
The man screamed money.
"Your father is expecting you." My fathers' secretary ushered me to his box of an office, her pencil skirt restricting her strides to small steps.
As I walked through the door, I could feel eyes on me immediately burning a hole in the side of my face. I kept my gaze averted low, looking quickly to my father.
"Kanya, I would like you to meet a work associate of mine." My father indicated the man that was now towering over me, having taken the chance to stand upon my entrance.
"Say hello to Mr James Strickland."
Never given this opportunity before, I pressed my palms together and slightly bowed my head.
"Welcome to Battambang, Cambodia Mr. Strickland." I recited politely, looking at him expectantly. My mother had only wanted me to know my native tongue, but my father made sure that I knew as many languages as I could learn. Especially English.
Using the language still felt quite foreign to me, but what my father said was final.
"James is fine." The foreign man's voice was deep but soft, polite yet commanding.
"Mr. Strickland has come to Battambang to propose a business venture that we can install here as a part of a tourist attraction."
Like we didn't have enough tourist attractions already.
I thought to myself, not quite meeting my father's enthusiasm.
But then I saw another kind of glitter in his eye. One that made the uneasy feeling from before come back in full force.
Something was very wrong.
"What kind of tourist attraction, father?" I dared ask, still aware that we had company. But then, my father wouldn't have brought me here if he didn't want my input. What kind? I wasn't too sure.
"We are hoping to open A Cambodian Experience Massage Parlour. And we were thinking of making you the face of it." My father grinned excitedly, rubbing his hands together in glee.
My face went white, and I couldn't help but look to him pleadingly.
"You cannot be serious father." I spoke to him in our native tongue, almost desperate.
He nodded his head curtly, no argument, no wiggle room.
"I think you've scared the poor girl." Our foreign visitor murmured, a very thoughtful look on his face. That was one thing we were both in agreement on.
"Nonsense." My father huffed. "She is my daughter." As if that answered everything.
"That may be the case, but I still need to work out a few things."
"Well my daughter will be working a lot closer with you from now on."
It was then that I realized what I was really doing there. Why my father had now allowed me to speak to this particular person.
The blood drained from my face again.
With a smile, he reached for my hand, and placed it in to that of Mr. Stricklands.
"Now I will let you two get well acquainted while I tend to some other business."
And with that, he was gone, leaving me alone with my soon to be business partner.
"Well I think you know what your father was implying in our partnership."
His manner only made the situation worse.
"I believe my father is whoring me out to you." I stated softly, shock settling over me.
"Not whoring, Kanya. Your father has offered you up as my bride to be...."
Words escaped me.

Battambang
In the summer, Mat and I watched a video about Battambang and the bat caves. We were so excited to add it to our list of places to come see. Every single night at dusk, 15 million bats fly out of this one cave in the most beautiful pattern. Finally, we got to see this with our own eyes!! It was the coolest thing I have ever seen in my life. The one thing we weren't prepared for was the bat pee/poo raining down on us, but it was 1000% worth it. Nature is sooooo cool and this was something I'll remember for the rest of my life. This cave also has a darker past, as it was used as a killing cave for the Khmer Rouge to execute thousands of Cambodians by pushing them down. We knew this before coming, but seeing the actual blood stains left on the rocks was pretty heartbreaking.
We also did the bamboo train here, which was pretty fun. I tried lifting one of the axles that the operater has to lift every time we got on/off to let other trains pass and couldn't even get it off the tracks... Those things are heavy and they make it look so easy! Tomorrow we head back to Siem Reap for a night before departing to Laos. We are running low on money (hence why we're not seeing more of Cambodia) but we're determined to do Laos and the south of Thailand before coming home.

What is Truly Going on with Vietnam Visa
http://nl.ivisa.com/vietnam-visa
Using Vietnam Visa If you intend to leave Vietnam and after that return on the exact same trip, you will want to submit an application for a multiple entry visa before you leave Australia. If you would like to stay longer than 15 days, then you will nonetheless will need to arrange a visa. If you would really like to acquire a full-stamped visa before traveling to Vietnam, you're highly suggested to speak to the nearest Vietnamese Embassy in the uk.
The purchase price for Vietnam visa differs for every type of visa. It is not so strict on entry visa requirements like other countries. In most instances, you're ready to renew your visa once you're in Vietnam.
Thus, you're highly advisable to have a look at the Vietnam visa requirements below to learn the most appropriate way for your Vietnam visa application. You will still must submit an application for a visa. A visa is then going to be added to your passport and you're permitted to enter Vietnam.
Then you will get an email a day or two later with your visa approval letter. The visa service fees charged depending on the kind of visa. For detailed instructions on how best to submit an application for a visa choose the country of destination from following page.
What Has to be Done About Vietnam Visa If you're on the exact same boat as us, there are a couple of things you must be aware of before getting your Vietnamese Visa. Some people might not need a visa to enter Canada, but might need specific documentation to go back to their home country. As you ultimately wind up on a business visa, some people today advise that you just receive a business visa to get started with rather than arriving on a tourist visa to look for work.
Gossip, Lies and Vietnam Visa Opt for the very best agency to turn your trip more enjoyable. Hoang Long is among the few businesses that allow you to book a trip by internet. Your travel to Vietnam is based on the visa, so make certain you select the correct organization to begin your journey hassle free.
Finding the Best Vietnam Visa An expedited visa can be gotten in a couple of business days for another fee. When looking for the different businesses, make sure that you shop around as their visa processing fees can fluctuate greatly from company to company. The Vietnam visa process has changed many times in the past two decades.
The Argument About Vietnam Visa Hotels and tourist areas are somewhat more inclined to be targeted by criminals. Why You need to Go to Vietnam Vietnam is a nation that's identical to war, but this isn't true nowadays. If you're travelling direct to Phu Quoc Island and remaining there for the length of your trip that you do not require a visa.
Now it's almost the exact same as Phnom Penh and Battambang. The embassy can be found in the city of Manila. Should you NOT enter Vietnam by plane, you need to contact the nearest Vietnam Embassy to find visa.
There are various alternatives to become into Vietnam from Cambodia. Moreover, 6 12 month stay would also be accepted for a short-term residence in Vietnam. If you intend to pay a visit to Vietnam from PAKISTAN, I strongly advise getting VOA from them.
Ok, you're need to get in touch with the Vietnam Embassy or Consulate in your house country to learn precisely what they require, and the price. A few of the airports in India are extremely busy.

Culture of Generosity
October 8, 2021
September — We spent almost the whole month just staying inside the base because of the total lockdown implemented in the whole province of Siem Reap.
Our area was categorized as “Red Zone”, which simply means that no one is allowed to go out, and if the police catch you, then you are to pay $250 plus confiscation of your vehicle. Obtaining food supplies are only allowed through online markets delivered by government authorized couriers. It’s a little bit expensive but many don’t have a choice. What’s challenging was the abrupt announcement of the lockdown, leaving dozens of people without supplies and unprepared.
As we daily communicate with our brothers and sisters, we found out that some people were left with nothing. Jobs are closed, supplies are running out, and they are in constant distress because they cannot go out.
Thank God that we were able to buy our supplies before the announcement. However, some of our leaders got stuck in one of the provinces after doing ministry there. The abrupt announcement included the closure of provincial borders. So our team cannot cross the border and needed to find a way how to sustain their limited supply and find shelter in Battambang Province. Good thing there was no lockdown there.
Seeing and responding to the need
So, while looking at our food supplies, we felt led to divide the goods that we have and send them to some of our brothers and sisters. With the limited food supplies that we have, we can only give to few people. So we find ways to how to deliver it to them, and then it worked!
The contagious effect of responding to the need
So fast forward, during that day when we made our first delivery, I was talking and encouraging one of my close friends in the Philippines because he’s just recovering from covid. So while chatting, he mentioned how he lost his whole savings because of the hospital bills and how God supernaturally provided for their hospital bill that reached P1.5 Million. And then after that, he asked me about the situation in Cambodia, I told him what’s the recent happenings. Just before we end our conversation he said that he wants to send a small amount of money just to add for the rice that we’re giving away. I was in tears that time because I know how he almost died in ICU and how they faced their huge hospital bills. But who am I to hinder a brother that is sowing for the Kingdom.
With the sudden increase in price in the market, we decided to buy the stuff in Battambang Province. So we sent the money online to our team there and they skillfully managed the budget, being able to include rice and other important goods. After packing the food supplies, they contacted a taxi driver who would deliver the food from one province to another. People cannot cross, but food supplies are allowed.
The taxi successfully crossed the border. Then we contacted one of the PassApp (Rickshaw) guys who would pick it up and then deliver it to the addresses that we provided. We also asked him to take pictures for us. He took good photos by the way. That day we delivered to 8 families in the city and 5 in the village. We thank God for His favor and grace that enabled us to be a pipeline of His blessing.
Where multiplication happens
Here’s the fun part of the culture of generosity. After that, we shared our story with our leaders and few friends to encourage them with our testimony. The response was awesome as people begin to respond making our third wave of relief possible. We thank God for our home church in Fairview who gave and also our friends as well. The third relief operation blessed a total of 21 families.
Just like the account of the feeding of the five thousand, we refuse to just look at what is lacking. God has given us the Spirit to lead us to God-given solutions.
The culture of generosity is a powerful force that can make a huge impact, it is contagious and results to even more acts of generosity.
It doesn't require a huge step to start, you just have to be willing to trust God with what you sacrifice.
Generosity is the very nature of the Father. He responded to man’s greatest problem by giving His only begotten Son to die for our place.
Hence, to walk with God means to walk in generosity.
In every situation we refuse to be the victim. We refuse to be the one in need. Instead, we rise above the situation and demonstrate the greatness of our Father through simple acts of generosity.
We echo one of the tenets of Victory Churches International that says:
God is the source of all our needs. So, we are generous.
Thank you for your prayers and support! May the Lord continually bless you!

Best Things to Do in Battambang, CAMBODIA - Part Two (The Bamboo Train)
0 notes
Photo
Hello Miss Wong. Sure, a pint of beer at 50 cents is ridiculously cheap on Pub Street in Siem Reap. And that means, a few pints and hours later, you are still sitting on the same seat, in the same bar you have chosen to make your preferred spot for the day, or evening. Nothing wrong with that, I swear. But it’s not every evening that you can tolerate doing the same thing, only changing the bar depending on the price of beer. If, for some unforeseen reason, you suddenly tire of the cheap beers, bright lights, loud music and crowds of tourists looking for a good deal on their drinks and food, then why not do something totally different. Like relaxing in a setting that takes you back in time. Like Miss Wong. Miss Wong is an intimate cocktail lounge, down a small lane off Pub Street. Taking its inspiration from the speakeasies of the 1920s, this vintage Shanghai themed lounge beckons you with its red lantern that dangles tantalisingly from the doorway in that narrow alley. Once you have settled down, decide what’s your poison for the night. While you may have heard of some, or all the cocktails – Moscow Mule or Caipiroska – what makes each of them surprisingly unique is the bartenders' unique reinterpretation, with local infusions to add an extra punch. Spiced Bloody Mary, anyone? While I'm not sure if they've survived this damn epidemic, and I hope they have, make sure to check them out the next time you're in Siem Reap. Welcome to the People’s Socialist Party of Wong. ________________________________________ @nofixedaddrs #nofixedaddrs www.nofixedaddress.in _________________________________________ Kingdom of wonder 🇰🇭 #KingdomofWonder #visitcambodiaofficial #visitcambodia _________________________________________ ………. ……... …….. ……. …… ….. …. … .. . #misswongcocktail #siemreap #cambodia #misswong #cocktails #cocktail #misswongcocktailbar #bar #cocktailbar #asia #misswongcocktail #pubstreet #southeastasia #drinks #misswongs #nightout #alcohol #nightlife #openinsiemreap #theoriginalmisswongbar #battambang #misswongbattambang #beautifulcambodia (at Miss Wong Battambang) https://www.instagram.com/p/CHZe9YqM9Xo/?igshid=uixsnuhf0f0l

Local Market in my Area I grew up with a thought as going to the market was really boring and waste my time until I’ve learned to love food and local, Market Tour is always the best to do wherever I go and it’s never a boring thing to do anymore. During this tourism freezing time, I go to the market in my area every morning to shop for my mum’s store, for food, and to see how is it like everyday. This is one of my favorite part where I can see daily activities and fresh vegetables every morning. How’s your day? What do you think about market tour? Let explore together after this pandemic. #PsaTmey #battambang #cambodia #market #markettour #dailylife #pandemic #tourism #exploringlocal #explore #travel #travelphotography #travellover #thediscoverer #explorer #cambodiaimages #missorangeblossom #localbusiness #travelgram #foodie #food (at ផ្សារថ្មី បាត់ដំបង) https://www.instagram.com/p/CDBK9QIBqr5/?igshid=1sekqc9r4kw5i
