Thickett’s Back for D&D Fun!

Do you love playing Dungeons and Dragons? (or watching shows like Dimension 20?) Do you love Thickett? Do you love watching people play ridiculous characters that then play ridiculous characters?

Then come join me and see Alterra Productions present Thickett D&D Live at 7pm EST/6pm CST on Friday, Jan 13th, and Saturday Jan 14th at twitch.tv/slayerkase!

I’ll be playing Georgie, who will be at the table playing as Thistle - A character being a character, because it's going to be ridiculous. (Also this is possibly my favorite character drawing I’ve ever done.)

This is a fundraiser to potential future seasons of Thickett, and any money raised will go towards production costs, staff, and cast. So please, come watch and help support small, women owned theater!

That’s a really great and concise way to describe it! I usually say it’s like a mix of a video game (or RPG) and theater - you’re playing a game where all the NPCs are actors. We call our shows ‘Quests’ because it’s much more like a game than it is a passive show - and all our Quests are built around writing/rewriting/changing fairy tales that you get to go into! Usually something’s gone awry and the actions of our audience (Seekers!) helps determine the outcome of the story. I’d also add that we’ve built the show to be enjoyable to different levels of interaction! If you don’t feel comfortable interacting with actors and just want to watch some fun stuff, great! You can do that! If you want to interact a little, but don’t want to do it alone? Find a couple people to run around with and work as a team! Wanna go full-out and really dive into playing with the actors? Go for it! We’re here to play with you?  Want to do all/any of these things, but it’s not enough? Look closely for some hidden information or puzzles that could lead you down a puzzle ARG that runs through the season ;) (Okay, but I’m really excited about this because it’s one of the aspects of the show I run and am in charge of and I’m REALLY EXCITED for what I’ve got planned this season.) And! If you can’t come to Orientation or Quest 1, or have to miss a Quest, you can still hop in to any during the season! Our Quests/shows are designed to be standalone as well as with running story across the season - so feel free to jump in whenever works best for you! We’ll be glad to see you :)

What exactly is Thickett?

@myreitha, who’s actually part of it, could could give you a more in-depth answer, but essentially it’s an immersive theater experience!

Under the fiction that you’ve been hired by a shady company that deals in fairytales, you log into the show via zoom as an ‘employee’, and your assigned ‘department’ is given a goal to pursue in each show: uncovering the most fitting version of each show’s focal story (per your department’s ideals of ‘fitting’) through exploring the little point-and-click illustrated world, watching and interacting with the performers, and putting together clues and puzzles.

It’s honestly a little hard to describe because it’s SUCH a mix of several different forms of media and venue, but I went to most of the shows in their first season and had a really fun time!

Thickett’s Back!

It’s that time again - Thickett time!

We’ve been busy prepping another season full of adventure, fairy tales, corporate espionage, and questionable decisions for people to come and enjoy! And to start off the season we’re running a:

Free Orientation Quest 

Attention all Seekers, would be Seekers, and what-is-a-Seeker?-askers: Thickett is hosting a free quest to help players better navigate our world, solve puzzles, and get the most from our short time in the story realm.

This is your Orientation. The Goat-people are being menaced by a riddle-hocking Bridge Troll, and the Princess is asking you to enter the story realm and sort it out. What’s really happening? Who is the Troll? How will the Goat-people be saved? You’ll learn how to interact with the story and end it the way you see fit.

If you’re timid to go in alone, seek help! Tell your friends who are into RPGs, Escape Rooms, or Immersive Theater to join in at no cost to them.

Hello! Sorry to bother you - Thickett's FAQ's don't talk about rating. Do you know if it would be appropriate for a 12 year old attending with a parent?

Hey! No bother at all! Thickett is not made with kids in mind, but Quest 1 (at least) is generally alright for preteen and up. There may be swearing, and there may be alluding to minor fairy tale gore and/or body horror - no visuals, it’d only be in discussion. There will also be reference to alcohol and drinking. Attending with a parent would be just fine with us!
