Because he can make it work, he can trust Theo, that he changed somehow. He chooses to be selfish one time for Theo. He can deal with the pack later, but he'll fight for him first, to show him his worth saving.

One of my favorite silly little hcs for Theo is that he's an awesome cook. Once he is finally settled somewhere safe and comfortable, he begins to really find his way in the kitchen and cooking for others becomes one of his love languages. He gets super invested in Chopped and Iron Chef. Some would say he gets a little too invested. (*Cough*Liam*Cough* 😅)

He invites the pack over for dinner often and makes sure they leave with full bellies and warm happy scents. Stiles often makes the joke that Theo is simply trying to poison them all and Liam threatens his life.

His favorite person to cook for is Liam, though. He sneaks out of bed early every now and again to make his favorite person breakfast in bed. Makes special dinners for celebrations and anniversaries.  Experiments with new more complicated recipes and Liam is ALWAYS happy to volunteer to be Theo's guinea pig.

re: the blond vs. brunette thing. I hc he lost a bet with mason in middle school and had to get frosted tips as the forfeit but his pride wouldn't let him admit he was Miserable so he decided to rub it in Mason's face that Blondes Do, In Fact, Have More Fun and went all out with the blond for freshman year :) but then supernatural s**t happened and then kept happening and he basically became a caveman with his natural hair around Theo during it all, and on top of that my other hc is that Liam unintentionally grows it out into a lil ponytail in college, and Theo will never admit it but he likes the style very much 🥺

waitttt this is so cute omg. i love this hc and i feel like it makes a lot of sense for their characters too!! liam and mason absolutely have this kind of friendship where they constantly make bets and lovingly laugh at and tease each other. and oh god, now im just thinking about how in s4 when the supernatural shit starts happening how liam distances himself from mason... and how both liam himself and mason watch liams roots grow out, measuring the amount of time they havent properly talked to each other... this fun thing that was done out of friendly spite and a testament of their friendship's dynamic turning into the physical proof of how they havent spent time with each other :(

and them in s5 dying liams hair together when they're talking again... as this ritual for them that they finally figured it out/that mason now knows about liam being a werewolf. they're such cuties to me i love miam friendship so much. also, i know that mason's hair is really short and they dont do much with it anyway (which is very annoying to me, how come most of the male characters get an updated haircut but mason doesnt??? i would've loved to see him with a different Black hairstyle in s5 or 6) but! maybe mason teaching liam how to take care of his hair too, teaching him how to braid it? perhaps when they were younger? sleepovers where they'd have movie marathons and paint each others fingernails and do each others hair... Anyway!

i totally see liam slowly growing his hair out and not dying his roots anymore because it just became too stressful with everything that was happening. like the way its styled sometimes in s6b... he does not look like he knows how to handle that length. its just??? the way it curls at his neck in certain scenes is so silly to me, im sorry. he definitely didnt plan growing it out, that just happened and hes trying to wing it.

and yesss theo secretly enjoying it. i have this hc of my own that he used to braid tara's hair and sometimes takes the longer strands of liam's hair and braids them, almost absentmindedly :') and liam quietly asking him where he learned how to do that. so if liam's hair became even longer, theo could Actually braid it.

also, consider: liam with a man-bun. i feel like he could pull it off. and theo would absolutely never admit it, but he enjoys anything liam does with his hair, because of course he does. even when liam looks ridiculous, he's into that because theo is just that much of a down bad gay loser. he keeps hair ties on his wrist for liam all the time, too.

i find it vehemently poetic that theo was raised, and used, and abused, by three doctors, surgeons, for ten years of his life, and when he finally starts to craft himself some sort of a life outside of their captivity, he finds most solace in liam, who's own stepdad is a doctor, a surgeon, but a caring one, who's always been supportive and never hurt nor laid a bad hand on his stepson. and i find it beautiful that, through fics - because the writers never did them the justice they deserved - we get to see theo realize that life's not all bad; it's not all pain and suffering, and people aren't all bad, adults aren't all dangerous, doctors aren't all malicious. and it takes him a while to learn this, and maybe an even longer time to trust liam's dad, but in order to get closer to liam, he has to learn to trust his dad, and it's really hard at first, but before he even realizes, it's easier than he could ever imagine.

and i like to imagine, too, that maybe theo grows enough, and gains enough trust, that he works alongside his dad as a medical assistant. maybe he was around liam's house long enough - because god forbid liam let him live in his truck any longer - that his dad worked up the courage for a couple days to invite him to go to work with him. because despite caring for him deeply and starting to love him like a son, he didn't want to step on his toes or drive him away, but theo wasn't in high school anymore, nor did he plan on attending college, but he's learning he has loads of medical experience, and despite the tragic things that happened to him, he seems to enjoy the field. so, he brings him to work one day and opens his mind to the fact that a real hospital is full of people who truly want to help, and do the best they can for their patients, and offer nothing but genuine care and gentleness to those in need. and after a day of watching and learning what science and medicine is supposed to be, theo finds himself breaking down on the drive home and liam's dad, a surgeon, but a kind one, comforts him, and assures him he's okay, and he doesn't have to go to work with him again if he doesn't want to, and hugs him, warm and close, and rubs his back in a way he hasn't felt since he was eight years old and still being read to by his mother, ten years ago. and in that moment, he realizes how safe he is now, with liam, and with his parents, and he realizes they care for him, truly, and won't let him get hurt, and he realizes he wants to work with his dad, he wants to explore the other side of science, he wants to do something good, and wants to be good, both for himself and for others. so he watches a little longer, and eventually, he's invited to help, passing tools and reading charts, and with time, he's allowed to work on his own, he's trusted, and he does his job well. and liam's dad offers praise when he does well; he provides comfort when he's hurting, on particularly busy days, or on days when they do the best they can, but can't save everyone. and for the first time in his life, he feels like he has a home, a family even. he feels - he knows - he has people that care about him and value his presence in their life; it doesn't feel faked, it's genuine, and it's obvious. and, in the middle of the night, when the two return home from a particularly late shift, they find liam and his mom awake in the kitchen, laughing, despite the fact that liam has school in the morning and his mom has work, but neither seem to care about that. they usher the doctor and doctor-to-be into the room and share the video on the tiny phone screen, and soon, all four are bursting with melodic, sleep deprived laughter, and in that moment, theo realizes the truth about himself he'd never thought possible - he's happy. actually, undoubtedly, happy.

Where Theo turns into his Wolf form 100% of the time because he can hunt like that, can sleep anywhere, his omega loneliness is easier to face, and feelings are easy to process.

Everyone thinks he left, his truck hidden in the forest where he can lie on its bed when he needs something familiar.

The pack can smell his scent when they go running through the woods, but Theo isn't stupid, he knows where and how to hide, how to slow down his heartbeat until is barely heard. He is relieved that they ignore him, don't look too hard to find him. Theo thinks that's Scott allowing him to stay, even though he doesn't deserve it.

He listens to them howl on the full moon and holds back his own needs to do the same. Because he isn't pack, and he can't out himself.

He should leave Beacon Hills. There are other woods where he can hide, without all the fear and distrust. Where he could relax, not bring alert all the time.

But his truck is there. And everything is familiar, bringing a sense of comfort, somehow. The only thing preventing him from getting insane is this small feeling of belonging.

The moon so pretty and it's singing, singing!

It loves Theo, even though his not actually born from the moon, he doesn't belong to it, but it loves him anyways. It accepts him.

And Theo is happy, so happy. Finally hunting, running, his free, free! The moon loves him, and he wants to sing to it too.

But then, there's pain. So so much pain. His leg hurts, and he howls. He's not stupid, but he got distracted. Silver dents into his skin. And it burns, and Theo howls.

Is not stupid, but he got distracted, too much into his wolfself to be cautious. And now, pain is making him stupid because he doesn't want to die. Not again, not again, please.

It's an old Hunters trap (he hopes is an old one, they can't be there, Scott's pack needs some time without danger. They deserve it). And it hurts. He is not affected by silver itself, but it hurts anyway.

He howls until he can't do it anymore. The moon leaving him, abandoning him too. He's left whining and crying to old trees, the wind taking his sounds away.

There's too much blood and he can't heal because its dents are deep down his skin, into his flesh.

Alone, he's going to die alone. And please not again please

Until, a rapid heartbeat and a salty smell come to him overlapping the pain and the smell of his own blood.

A breathless Liam kneels in front of him. Shaking hands caressing his head. He is into his pajamas, an old shirt and sweatpants. He's pretty, so so pretty. It's all Theo can think about.

Theo whines when pain is drained from him, Liam shaking even more when black veins appear on his arms. He relax into Liam, his scent all Theo can feel.

"Theo, I-" his voice is hoarse, he takes a few more breaths. "You screamed. I heard you howl and it was so-" Theo closes his eyes. There's still so much pain and he's tired but Liam's here. He's here, he heard him and he came.

"Sorry for taking so long. It's going to be okay." He continues to stroke his head, scratching behind his ear. "You're my responsibility, right? You're going to be okay."

And Theo trusts him. It's okay. It's going to be okay.

And it's all strawberry and wet earth, autumn and slight acid rage. Sunlight shines again and he allows himself to relax for the first time since he became a wolf.

Rant time! Its 12am so ofcourse the thiam obsession is creeping back and i just want to talk about what everyone has talked about which is The Elevator Scene.

Ok.

So we all know that scene, yeah but like. Lets talk about the before. So Scott calls Theo when he was about to dip from beacon hills(i think. I have not watched this show in 2 years everything I'm saying may very well be complete bs) and he specifically tells Theo to get ‘liam’ and the others out of there because of the hunters(?is that even correct?) and Theo hauls ass back to the hospital JUST in time to grab Liam and shove them both back into the elevator.

Its just. Do you realise the amount of times Theo has saved Liam? Like, not just from danger but from himself aswell. Theo has saved Liam so many times and i just Dont. get it?

Like you can, of course, argue that it's because Liam brought Theo back from hell and he feels indebted to the guy but i frankly just Dont believe that and i never will

Why? Because even though Liam brought Theo back SCOTT allowed him to stay out of hell. Lets all be real here. If Liam had not managed convinced Scott to let Theo stay his ass would have been back underground. Liam was insistent, yeah, but Scotts his alpha. He would have put theo back if he(Scott) really wanted him to. So, realistically, i feel like he'd be more indebted to Scott rather than Liam.

Of course he's still be grateful to Liam but not grateful enough to be running up and down beacon hills to save Liam from every and all mortal or non-mortal peril yk?

Like i feel like we forget as a community that Theo is SELFISH and not a really nice guy. Like he's one of my favourite characters of all times but he was not a good person in s5 and yeah he reformed in s6 (best character development arc Imo) but there's just some traits that have been so ingrained in you that you Dont really forget them and i hc that Theo still struggles trying to fight some of the instincts he's used to (spying, lying, idk counting the amount of heartbeats whenever he walks in a room YOU GET IT) and if it was, for example, stiles or fuck idk Scott, would Theo do the same for them?

Those might potentially be bad examples but literally think of ANY other teen wolf character: would Theo do for them what he did for Liam? Would he? I Dont think so.

So Scott mentions Liam is at the hospital and in danger and Theo goes immediately, like turns that truck Around lmfao, and he saves Liam and then he opens his mouth and utters the lie ‘Look, I'm not dying for you’ because not only is he a lying liar who lies he's is also an emotionally repressed lying liar who liars.

Because in the same hospital in 6a(? Is it 6a or am i tripping) he literally made himself bait. There's a chance that Theo could have been shot and would have been forgotten. There's even potentially a chance that he could have been killed and sent back to the place he would have done ANYTHING to not go back to and what does he do? He sacrificed himself for Liam. FOR LIAM

And the thing is, i feel like before Scott called Theo, he would have been out of beacon hills in a flash. He potentially sacrificed his only chance to leave that hellish town because of Liam. Liam.

Liam is the only one that Theo continuously saves over and over and over again throughout s6 hell even SEASON 5 and yeah that was because of his mega evil plan but still. Theos just intentionally proving my point rn

So Theo lies and Liam lies back and they have that ultra gay stare down in that stupid fucking elevator and then Theo looks down and i know that it's a popular hc that Theo looks at his lips but me and many others choose to believe that Theo looks at liams heart because one of the many differences between these two hooligans is that Theo is an EXCELLENT liar and Liam is…. not. So when Liam lies ‘Im not dying for u either’ Theo can tell and ohmygodtypingthisoutismakingmemadwhyweretheynotcanon

And then they fight together and quite literally take bullets for one another (this ship makes me laugh why are they like this) after professing their fraudulent lies and Theo takes gabes pain and then they fuck nasty in the hospital bathrooms the end

Okay so I totally agree with that hc where morey wear promise rings (Corey definitely gave them to Mason wayy to early in their relationship to be considered normal) and the idea of expanding that to thiam has just been stuck in my head lately

Idk what the earrings would look like, but honestly like there are so many options- have you guys SEEN the picture of young Dylan Sprayberry with diamond studs?? Amazing. Stunning.

But also- (I cant at all remember the name of the story/author-pls tell me ifyk so I can properly credit) in honor of the amazing thiam-centric hunger games AU on ao3- Teeth! I absolutely love the detail of Liam having a coyote tooth as an ear piercing in this story and also think it would be a really thiam thing to have matching ones (although I haven’t actually finished the fic yet so maybe the author already came up with this idea/smth similar 😅😅)

im slapping another greek mythology inspired game onto liams game list and claiming that he'd like hades

when theo plays stray, liam watches the entire time. even though he knows the whole game, liam plays it himself after theo finishes it because he loved it so much. and theo watches liam play the entire time too, because he also loved it <3 (im spreading the thiam kitty agenda)

liam almost cried when the wolf fenrir died at the beginning of gow: ragnarök, hated having to fight the wolf garm and then actually cried when fenrir got resurrected

he sees himself in both kratos (having been deceived into killing someone he loves, having to control his rage, evolving from being someone aggressive into being a gentle person/a god of hope and accepting that people will follow him as a leader) and atreus (constantly trying to prove himself, being impulsive and reckless.) the way their father-son relationship and their characters in general develop is very cathartic for him to watch

liam had a pokémon go phase and made theo drive him around constantly during it. he gets into pokémon in general afterwards

RE7 is difficult to play for theo. its main antagonist has some similarities to him (a child turned weapon that longs to have a family/pack, gets called a monster & punished for the aggressive way they go about acquiring it) and the setting (stuck in a house with a family that doesnt act like a family at all) reminds him of how he grew up: stuck in operating theaters with the dread doctors as his "caretakers" and the fake-families he got set up with

he has to take a lot of breaks and sometimes liam takes over for him and plays through the especially emotionally challenging parts for him until theo is ready to continue

RE8 is difficult for both of them. there are a lot of werewolf-like monsters (that were previously human) you have to fight, and the beneviento house + the DLC feature a lot of bullying, which liam struggles with. heisenberg's & moreau's area and miranda's lab are extremely triggering for theo due to heavy themes of experimentation and heisenberg's soldiers having a similar look to the dread doctors

usually they each play through a game on their own, but for RE8 they only play it once together and really take their time. they each take care of the especially triggering parts for the other. they dont skip playing it because it's also quite cathartic for them: they're in a safe environment, have control over what's happening and can pause at any time. they both have problems with being vulnerable and opening up about their trauma, so it's a good tool for them to confront these past experiences and also understand each other even better

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

they both got really excited over botw. liam absolutely hates the horses in the game, but theo has a soft spot for epona and is disappointed that she isnt in it. liam finds out that you can get her through an amiibo and buys it for theo

liam loves that you can change link's clothes and spends a lot of time farming rupees so that he can buy multiple copies of the outfits and dye them different colors

theo always drops the rocks onto the koroks' heads and once tears of the kingdom (the sequel) comes out, he makes it his mission to attach a rocket onto them and send them off into the distance every single time

More Games the Puppy Pack would Play

Pico Park (more yelling. so much yelling. uncoordinated, claws get unsheathed, threats are being made)

Stick Fight: The Game (alec loves the flamethrowers. thiam keep tag teaming everybody and keep winning without even having to use weapons)

Splatoon (alec thought the squid forms looked cool and begged the other members to play it with him. theo is the only one who ever covers the base and keeps reminding everyone that they wouldnt have won if it wasnt for him doing that. corey and liam love playing stealthily, either as snipers or just trying to otherwise surprise their opponents)

not a video game, but: mason got really into DnD when he was younger and tried to rope liam into it, who was only mildly interested. they ended up not being able to play anyway since it was only the two of them. so when the puppy pack forms, mason brings it up again as they now have a big enough group

mason is the DM. thiam basically end up playing themselves as their characters reluctantly fall in love bc they cant stop flirting with each other. alec casts fireball at literally everything. nolan plays a rogue, and all of them judge him for that at first, but he ends up getting really into character and surprising all of them. corey flirts with mason to get information out of him. gwen plays a lesbian barbarian (yes, her favorite bg3 character is karlach.) hayden is basically the only one with braincells

additionally: liam trying to flirt with theo (theo finds it endearing)
