Eleven finger-tip-moulded silver bells hang off the string at the front landing, attached by iridescent red and pink threads. If you move them (or accidentally walk into them) they make a very delicate twinkle just audible under the mix of horns, bike-riding vendors, a trumpet player, planes and neighbouring gossip happening around the house. I think it could be Newby’s intention to draw you closer to the hum of the city rather than the sound of the bells.

In the gallery proper, a row of unique handmade chimes hang off a long string. It bows with their weight drawing an extended curve throughout the room, making a heavy, glassy clink. They are ordered in groups of colour and length and a subtle arch is created at the midpoint that equilibrates the string’s weighted bow.

A tent of wet cement appears to either disgorge or swallow a lush spill of mosses in Brazilian artist Thiago Rocha Pitta’s ‘The First Green,’ an installation at Marianne Boesky Gallery in Chelsea. Though the scene appears to be a static standoff between the survival of man or nature, Rocha Pitta avoids thinking in binaries. On the wall, frescos resemble ancient microorganisms performing photosynthesis, producing oxygen, and continuing a process that has gone on for billions of years. (On view through April 29th). Nous voilà partis pour une station de skis en Utah, le comble du chic et du contemporain. Dans cette maison de l'Utah, l'architecture a fourni peu de repères de conception. La structure de 780 m2 et de six chambres à coucher a été construite sur mesure en 2018 dans un style conventionnel "moderne contemporain de montagne", comme le dit Henderson. Sa principale inspiration est venue des pics majestueux et des sapins imposants visibles à travers les fenêtres du sol au plafond, qu'il a vus lors de sa seule réunion sur place avec les clients, en 2019. 1 . Henderson designed the honeycomb-form light fixture installed over the dining room’s Damien Gernay table and Ruemmler chairs; the vintage bar cart along the wall is by Edward Wormley. 2 . In the rec room, a Liz Nielsen painting joins a pair of vintage ceramic lamps on bespoke Severin Hansen–style tables; 3 . A glass mosaic work by Shahzia Sikander pops against the living room’s blackened-steel fireplace surround in a Park City, Utah, vacation home renovated by Shawn Henderson.  4 . A grid of works by Thiago Rocha Pitta spans a wall behind the study’s metal-and-travertine desk, which is joined by a vintage Pierre Jeanneret chair and topped by a circa-1960s Lisa Johansson-Pape lamp; the Paavo Tynell chandelier is circa 1940s, and the rug is by FJ Hakimian. 5 . A ceramic wall installation by Maren Kloppmann presides over the primary suite. 6 . In the primary bath, which features a marble floor by Bedrosians, a Josef Hoffmann chandelier hangs above the Apaiser tub with Rohl fittings #Repost @galeriemagazine This ski getaway in Utah conceptualized by designer @ShawnHenderson features chic and contemporary furnishings to complement the residence's stunning views.
