Y/N Y/L/N and Coriolanus Snow began this disastrous journey from the age of 11-12. Both students entered the Academy with an air of poise and elitism about them as they knew what it took to defeat the competition in the Academy, most students not even being a possible candidate to them. It was all fine and well, until one year, Y/N and Coriolanus were put in the same class for the year, and the rivalry then started..

The first assignment of that year was an individual project on what each student thought the Capitol looked like during its earliest times. Each student was tasked with coming up with a drawing with their thoughts on said topic. This was their chance to go up against each other. Both Y/N and Coriolanus would stay up in the library after school and collect piles of books and do their research and by the time the task was due, Y/N and Coriolanus obviously submitted the best sketches.

After acknowledging this, the professor asked the class to vote for who’s sketch was the best. Small pieces of paper were given out to write either Y/N’s and Coriolanus’s names and as the professor then collected the papers, making both students anxious. As the professor counted the votes, Y/N’s heart was beating out of her chest, Coriolanus’s as well. It was then announced that Y/N won, which made Coriolanus furious as he spewed a full speech on how much he hated her. “You’d never be as good as what they say you are. You’re just dirt under my feet. God! You’re such a bitch!” He screamed as the professor and the class started at him in astonishment as they’ve never seen him lash out before.

Y/N was heartbroken when she heard this as sometimes when Coriolanus wasn’t looking, Y/N would sneak glances towards him and she started to be enamoured by him. Their time together after hours in the library would usually end up in them having conversations about their day and this time together helped them bond better. With this in mind, Y/N truly thought Coriolanus was at least civil enough to be respectful towards her. Y/N felt tears well up in her eyes as she ran out of the classroom, the professor telling her to wait.

Coriolanus, still blind with rage, kept on screaming and yelling obscenities about Y/N as he stormed off to his seat, his face red and his whole demeanour fueling with rage. Unfortunately, this fateful day was what started the vicious rivalry between Y/N and Coriolanus as the two would fight over who got the better grades, which teacher favoured which student more, the differences in their scores in each assignment every single day.

As of current, both Y/N and Coriolanus are 18 and in the midst of graduating. One of their last assignments was unfortunately a pair assignment. Dr Gaul once scoped out the Academy and witnessed one of the fights between Y/N and Coriolanus and she noticed how by getting them near each other, she could make them into the power couple of Panem and have them continue the Hunger Games, which inspired her to whisper in the ear of Dean Highbottom to get them to be in the same class and for them to share a table together until they graduated. Both Y/N and Coriolanus were very unhappy about this, both choosing to ignore each other while they were in their seats. 

With both of them getting older, both Y/N and Coriolanus started noticing certain things about them. I’ll be back soon, do not kill each other while I’m gone.” As Highbottom left the classroom, the tense atmosphere began to build as the door closed behind him.

Almost immediately after he left, Y/N and Coriolanus stared at each other with the most hateful expression ever. Y/N menacingly glared at him while saying with gritted teeth, “See, Coriolanus! You're not really going to like my answer here because it completely negates both questions.

I don't think either of them will die or kill each other.

I think it's natural to think so considering the current setting of the arc and what was revealed and their characters, but how I see it, their relationship has proven to be very nonsituational. As in, they aren't really hanging out and helping each other just because they happen to need each other here and there. They hang out and help each other because they unironically see each other as friends.

Illumi had no reason to help Hisoka out in the hunter exam, yet he did anyways. And they stayed together most of the time. Illumi had no reason to help Hisoka out during the yorknew dilemma, yet he did anyways. It's not even in his area of work to just disguise as people for a few hours before leaving. He's an assassin. Hisoka didn't have to help Illumi out during the election arc, Illumi was more than capable of finishing this entire mission alone. And yet he did anyways.

Goes without saying that Hisoka constantly calls Illumi his friend behind his back and also did so in front of him, and Illumi made no move to correct him.

So I can't really imagine, with all this said and done, that they'd actually have a reason to hunt and kill each other on the black whale. I understand the doubts with the stuff Illumi said in their marriage chapter but im still much more inclined to believe theyre working together against the troupe, as that would make much more sense. They've done nothing but work together against everyone in the entire anime and both Illumi and Kalluto worked against the troupe with Hisoka in yorknew after all.

I also feel like this is a general Hisoka misconception but-- Hisoka doesn't want to die. I feel like people think he hired Illumi to "hunt him down" because he wants Illumi to actually kill him and I have to disagree. Yes, it does speak volumes about what Hisoka thinks of Illumi, as in he truly is capable of killing him because theyre equals. But does Hisoka actually want Illumi to kill him right now? Negative.

Some people even say Hisoka has always wanted to go out in a huge fight or whatever-- I genuinely have no idea where tf they get that from lol. Hisoka brought himself back to life for a reason. He wants to live. He never planned on dying against Chrollo. He never ever plans on dying against people he fights. If Illumi and Hisoka were to ever truly fight, Hisoka would never let Illumi kill him without giving it his all. He WILL fight for his life.

And the same goes for Illumi. Illumi doesn't want to die and has no reason to want to actually die by Hisoka's hand. He has duties and responsibilities as a Zoldyck eldest and he's not going to throw it away in the name of... twisted love? lol

And I think lots of people find all of this hard to believe because theyre very used to villains getting bad endings or getting "what they deserve" in anime which is completely fair but let me, no, ALLOW ME to point you to one of my favorite villain groups in hxh that had a good ending despite being complete pieces of shit that would've deserved worse than death.

Togashi could've very much made Gon just kill genthru to show how powerful he is and his sense of justice blablabla but that just isn't what the anime is about. Everyone in hxh is morally grey. At the end of the day Gon, Killua, and Bisky just wanted the cards from genthru and his friends and moved on.

A lot of people fail to realize this when it also comes to Hisoka and Illumi. They can just get a good ending like that. Do they deserve it? No. Does it matter whether they deserve it or not? Nope! This is hunter x hunter. And as far as I see it, its an anime about the power of platonic and romantic love. And Hisoillu are a specific type of love that is going to get a happy ending despite not even remotely deserving it. We got the meruem and komugi sad love ending. And we're getting the gay version of it except theyre unredeemable and horrible and they still get to be happy. Those are my thoughts.

Also in general I just genuinely cannot see Togashi continuing the anime without his favorite babygirl Hisoka being alive. Like even when he killed him off he revived him like 2 pages later in the same chapter he can't stand the idea of even letting his death marinate for a single chapter lmfaoooooooooo

GOD. cannot state enough just how much i think the elementals should be like. forces of nature (ha) but like. especially tide and magma. you see them in a fight and the instinct driven lizard monkey brain goes "oh fuck oh shit im in danger time to go into fight or flight mode"

that being said i dont think they really .. synergize with anyone outside of each other. there are different reasons for each of them but i think like… the reason the elementals were so successful in their time is because they work REALLY FUCKING WELL together (because theyre all clones of one guy so technically theyre the same person but theyre NOT but you get what i mean). they are all equals with each other but not necessarily with other people. so i think.. when the elementals were all together i think they almost always worked as a team and not much with anyone else, but after they broke apart… i think tide and magma stay pretty solo for their respective endbringers. they might team up with each other occasionally or when theyre against simurgh (im thinkin they can do really fun things with steam clouds) but other than that theyre kind of on their own. well. magma i think works with seismic a lot when he shows up. but he doesnt always show up. remind me after this to expand on the current elementals dynamic bc god i think about them a lot.

all this to say i think tide works solo most of the time and he has his reasons for it but i think that makes it even more impactful when he eventually starts teaming up w mark in fights (ooough tidalwave forever)

ros helped me out w the classification we've i think decided on shaker/mover for him . also like. thinker 1 wetsuit powers which is mostly a joke but also i kind of want it to be serious bcause it would be funny for ME . also im really bad at the number system so im not assigning him numbers. hes sooo powerful though. not enough that he can take on an endbringer ALONE bc that would be insane. but enough that he can fight leviathan for like. 10-20 unbroken minutes and not get immediately killed

Hydrokinesis: pretty. obvious i guess. mans can control water. i thiiiink for now this is gonna be limited to liquid water and not ice. maybe in conjunction with someone elses power they could freeze his water but i dont think hed be able to control it much after that i think it would just keep whatever momentum it had before. also i think he is limited to liquids that are almost entirely water? as much as i love the potential of bloodbender tide i dont see a way to like. write him actually using that without it being sooooo so so awful and not in a fun way. but with things that r like… mixtures? solutions? whatever? as long as theyre mostly water i think he can partially control them. not as strong as water but he can. control the water In Them but but the Substance. does that mean anything? im thinking abt the part in burn your bridges where he uses whatever liquid was in the tubes to slow their falls. but he didnt like. use it to carry them to a stretcher or anything he just made sure they didnt faceplant onto the concrete.

Breathing underwater: also self explanatory. mans got gills. i like the idea of each of the clones having veryyyyy minor physical alterations. tides got gills and little fins. magmas got weird colored eyes and stone (lava rock) skin in a few places.

enhanced movement in water: i think this is partially because he can control water, he can use it to propel himself in whatever direction. create currents if hes fully underwater and stuff. i think he can make it through leviathans storm pretty easily. well,,, not easily because he cant really do anything about wind. but the rain/waves dont affect him as bad as they would other capes . also he can do the cool thing he can do in canon where he like. surfs on a wave. i rlly like that visual.

I think the wards' first endbringer fight Should Be leviathan and I don't think they were supposed to go but they did anyway and virion tried to copy tides power and he had a fucking. dad panic moment about it. full on dead stop in the middle of the fight you boys SHOULDNT BE HERE go home. but eventually imprint copies his power anyway and Tide realizes like. OK. he won't be in as much danger if he can do the same things as me. and that's the ONLY reason he doesn't fucking abandon the leviathan fight (insane thought for him to even consider) and get them out to safety

Main reason: I feel I lose sight of the og premise pretty quick as it shifts to drama and big plot points.

Having the kids all be able to communicate and spend time together as kids would work much better!!! And like, the time skip with Asriel leaving to be King still works its just happening slightly later in their timeline.

Its important to see the family, well, act as a family! I say no to plot getting in the way of that so soon! Give us time to enjoy just being back and alive T_T

Its my biggest regret (past the regrets I've talked at length lol) that the story inherently runs past them just getting a Happy Ending. Like it's too quick to get to the After ),:

But now to specifics:

#1 Frisk and Chara sharing a soul would neatly tie into soul lore in a more organic way. It forces that to stay in the focus.

It has the siblings work together. Structurally Frisk gets the short end of the stick being excluded from Asriel and Chara Flower and magic crap. Now Frisk is directly involved and on more equal ground. Regardless of larger story stuff, I do want to edit chapter 1 to establish a soul connection even if its more weak than this proposal.

This also makes Chara more on Team Human and less of a biological Dreemurr. Chara wouldn't be a flower boss monster, which I always felt was a bit too convoluted? Don't ask me how they have a body I haven't figured it out yet bro

#2 Golly I think Asriel being a kid would do a lot of wonders for the story I wouldn't even know where to start. While I like the "I grew up too fast because of what happened" angle as it's a cool metaphor, I think it'd be nicer to give Asriel a chance to be. Well, Asriel first. Let them be a kid for a while before becoming a corrupt king! Let them experience being best friends with both frisk and chara...

And like, to some extent I can have some of this happen in the continued rewrite version. I already have plans to fix some of these issues, but theyre also baked into the structure so that's why I'm kinda leaning into the idea of a real reboot. Like let's go gamers I wanna make this into a VN

so doomsday goes down basically the same and marc is trapped!!!! in another dimension separated from vale... both of them stay cheeks pressed to the wall for hourssss after that portal closes. like one perfect tear rolling down vale's face. normally joyful impish expression shut down gaunt and dead. alex has to tear marc away from that wall.

and so marc decides. the unbreakable rules of science and dimensionality are keeping me from the love of my life AND our wonderful death-defying hobby of time travelling adventures that i am equally obsessed with. well i will simply find a way to break these unbreakable rules and transverse dimensions. and he does! he joins torchwood and works day and night mainlining coffee burning the midnight oil obsessed and ignoring what is actually healthy for his body in that fun marc way of his. until he and his team have developed a protype they think might work! he (of course) volunteers to test it and ZOOOM shoots into his home universe.

meanwhile vale is uh. season four tenth doctor level unwell without marc. like he is very much a person who needs people around him and travelling ALONE right after losing marc ummmm he isnt doing good lol. like he is embracing the god complex. he is slightly manic. he is crying a lot. he is staring at any short jacked guy with dark hair like a war widow. bright eyes absolutely dead. its bad. anyways its been a minute since ive watched s4 of doctor who but BASICALLY. all of this + the plot comes to a head and marc lands back in his home-dimension right inside the literal end of the world and also like a hundred yards from vale and the gang (academy kids?? WOULD be funny)

so they see each other after YEARSSSSSSS and the world is ending but they dont care!!!! they start running at FULL fucking speed at each other they forget EVERYTHING else... and ofc then theyre like ten feet away when ZAP! vale gets tagged by a dalek and um. well the plot happens again sorry cant remember. THE IMPORTANT THING IS: through science fiction bullshit and regeneration stuff and the POWER OF LOVE!!!!!!! vale turns human :) and that means he can stay with marc for the rest of their lives <3 and the second and i mean SECOND marc figures this out he nearly tackles him —stretches up on his tiptoes, fist full of vale's collar—and lays one on him crazy style... and theyre both like. almost smiling too hard to even kiss... faces still desperately glued together... vale cops a feel... and they live happily ever after <3 and marc pops back into his home universe to grab alex at some point that is non-negotiable lol

i know everyone likes to think of the science team as friends (or at the very least, as christoff and hofnarr as friends) but i also, personally, get a much more fascinated kick out of imagining how fucking painfully dysfunctional they are as a dynamic of four (or five, if you count gonne, though shes extremely self-isolated in my mind and not usually present with the others as a consequence)

i dont know. like. crackpot & christoff constantly at eachothers throats in email chains and in-person. christoff seeing hofnarr as a tool and little else to get where he needs to be, hofnarr going fucking nuts in isolation and losing his handle on reality- in my mind pretty much everyone (barring crackpot) thought phobos was a fucking joke in their own ways. hofnarr was willing to stand as an equal to him and talk to him like a much more casual acquaintance, and he had to put up with it because hofnarr was a valuable asset- likewise with gonne, and god we all know how christoff feels about him.

i dunno. no kinship to be found there. no respect for eachother. i feel like they all tolerated eachother because they had to, but it's like grouping solitary animals in cages together, like ball pythons or bearded dragons- they only huddle under the same heatlamp and "cuddle" together because theyre competing for warmth, and its only a matter of time before one snaps on the other. mmmmm

it was a bad place to work in, i think. just an awful fucking environment of faux kindness and corporate pleasantries and none of them really actually knew eachother, and none of them actually had anyone to fall back and rely on when they were all split apart, ending out in isolation. it's horrific to me. delightfully tragic. i love it and i hate it

oh my fucking god i LOVE zenix and laurance my beloved rebellion boys. here it comes.

Laurance already knew plenty about zenix. they meet formally for the first time right after laurance leaves into the nether at the season 2 finale. 'formally' as in zenix mistakes laurance for a stray from gene's fleet and tries to pummel him-- then zenix is pleasantly surprised to discover laurance is the first guy to actually put up a decent against him in years and he finds room to respect laur for that.

zenix doesn't know jackshit or care about laurance and keeps brushing him off as some rando, until laur mentions aphmau and garroth, who he shares a soft spot for (as much as he refuses to admit it.)

They begrudgingly team up because they have almost the same end goals. Laurance wants to slay the shadow lord and free all the souls and save aphmau, Zenix wants to slay the shadow lord and take his place as ruler of the nether. zenix genuinely believes he's stronger than shad and deserves to be king. laurance doesnt believe the last part lol. at least they both want that guy dead. cant pick and choose ur allies in nether, i guess.

the rebellion was actually vylad's idea to zenix, create an organization in order to take down their common enemy. zenix always wanted a fleet to lead and control and treat him like a king. vylad has to convince zenix that he has to actually act like a decent leader. He kinda ruled a group through fear for a while until laurance came along and managed to strike a deal with him involving a Lot of convincing but it worked. (vylad is so relieved)

the rebellion has around 20-40 members in their organization (tiny compared to how massive shad's army is). laurance is the planner, vylad is the recruiter, zenix is the fire power.

laurance feels a little guilty sometimes for promising to kill zenix that one time in s1 but then zenix pisses him off somehow and laur takes it back

zenix is very big-brother-like and loves teasing n bullying laurance. he finds it hilarious that laurance timeskipped 15 years because now that means zenix is older and now he gets eldest privileges. laurance isnt exactly thrilled about zenix and his utter lack of empathy on his situation.

theyre p much begrudgingly best friends thru circumstance. though laurance slowly eases and opens up over time and gets more comfortable joking around like his old self. zenix also eases up over time and shows respect and trust, he's very much swayed by praise and acts of kindness and gets kinda clingy 'n over enthusiastic. laurance only realizes how much zenix has opened up to him when zenix vents about missing phoenix drop and garroth n aphmau for the first time.

they're about equally matched in strength. Zenix is more powerful with raw strength, but laurance has professional training and is a lot smarter. their fights kinda end up like wrangling a bull.

they bicker and banter constantlyyyyyyy. vylad has to keep them from killing each other sometimes.

despite the banter and fighting and disagreements, they absolutely team up together to lovingly beat the shit out of gene. its almost comical how much they like tormenting gene and pissing shad off.

laurance/zenix are extremely powerful when they can actually manage to be on the same page and work together

it took years for vylad to help zenix overcome his shadow knight bloodlust, (funnily another ro'meave that never gave up on zenix.) zenix now has relatively good control of himself, about on the same level as laurance.

there may or may not be some stupid background love triangle shit going on w laurance and vylad and zenix. lonely clingy bastards love vylad

theyre both terrible captains. and that makes their relationship with the crew completely fucked. the captain is responsible for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the crew and neither of them are being shown to give a shit.

eds relationship with his crew hasnt evolved at all from when we first meet him. izzy tells him several crew members died carrying out eds orders to find stede. and eds like “well thats thats their job” then “edward if you dont do something were all were ALL gonna die” “hm theres an idea”. hes very experienced and intelligent but that doesnt help when youre reckless and working as an individual while still taking the title of leader. & not keeping people alive. i kept waiting for him to have any growth there but there was nothing. i wanted it so bad but nah. he said sorry to izzy only. cares about him but hasnt had anything with the rest of the crew. he needed moments individually to make amends i think

stedes relationship with his crew got way worse than it was in s1. he was always captaining when he shouldnt have been and responsible for their lives while leading them into danger beyond his ability to ensure their safety but at least he seemed like he cared about their happiness and saying “talk it through”. like there was room for improvement but he went the other way. with s2 its all become so hollow now. he just doesnt care about their feelings if ed is responsible for hurting them. stede not caring At All about lucius being alive was interesting to me. hes kinda just selfish. he sees only ed on an equal level to him and out of the whole crew only izzy really its true. he hasnt had much one-on-one with anyone else.

and then after ed tried to kill half the crew/kill people the other half of the crew love. and all decided their Feelings are “kick him off”. stede still chose ed. they always choose eachother over the crew. and Yeah it makes sense theyre in love. but theyre captains of a pirate ship with a huge target on all of them. but only looking out for the other one. the crew sees how theyre treated. theyre dissatisfied but resigned to their fates. the whole “eh whatever. the captains always get away with it and we just deal with what they put us through” conversation. and really Dont see those two as family at this point lets be real. ed and stede are too focused on each other to be a family to anyone except ed and stede. its true izzy is the only other family member you had it accurate the first time.

they could have changed that if any effort was put in at all but they havent gotten to that point. “oh these people love you oh theyre your family” you cant just write that in and have the crews actions this whole time leading up to that contradict it. just untrue. maybe it being the dying wish of someone who they did actually consider family helped their relationship? a little bit? izzy still picking up eds slack. but then in the end the crew just seem happier without ed and stede. those two arent team players they act as individuals. lone wolf

and thats FINE but not on a ship. having stede give them that push at the beginning of the show was great. to crack their shell a little bit is what started the crews overall growth and im sure they care a little bit about stede for that. and theyre soft people i know they have a lingering connection to them. but they have Not “talked it through” theyre literally “bottling it up” it sucks. theres hope but ed and stede have to reach out but they simply havent. really the way the show is written was the crew-minus-captains becoming family together and ed & stede going off on their own. unfortunate but its just the content of the show. i have a lot of thoughts about this im probably missing something. but the captains/crew relationship was so disappointingly lacking

oops i ended up rambling a lot so im putting this under a cut, basically its my trigun modern au thoughts for the main 4 (plus kuroneko) so yea. hi

modern au to me vash and meryl have been besties since middle school. when they first met meryl had a crush on him but then she got to know him more and was like he's kind of pathetic actually. and after her crush went away they developed more of a siblingy friendship vibe, always bickering and annoying eachother but still ready to throw down for the other at the drop of a hat. and milly and wolfwood dated in highschool and were eachother's first like everythings. and then they both realized they were gay and broke up amicably and stayed really good friends.

milly and meryl meet when they work at the same place ofcourse. coworkers to friends to lovers moment. at first meryl is kind of astonished at milly's... everything, and like she wants to not be endeared by her but like. its milly. everyone is endeared by her! meryl was doomed from the start to fall in love. and milly is equally head over heels but shes soooo much better at being casual about it than meryl is. meryl is chill most of the time but she very frequently gets flustered as fuck around milly and becomes kind of a mess. meanwhile milly just acts as sweet and silly as she always does, so meryl gets all in her head about it like ohh she probably doesnt feel the same way since shes always so calm. but in reality milly is like haha i would do anything for this small and loud pretty woman and she daydreams about their wedding all the time. and milly flirts with her all the time but meryl is always like "oh surely she didnt mean it that way! lots of things milly says come out the wrong way, she just doesnt realize how it sounded!" but milly was doing it on purpose and is getting increasingly distressed over how else she could make it obvious to meryl. eventually she just straight up tells her like meryl i have romantic feelings for you and have had them for a while now! ive been flirting with you for ages but you always brush me off! and meryl is like THAT WAS ALL ON PURPOSE? milly OF COURSE IT WAS ON PURPOSE! and the misunderstanding is resolved and they start dating. at this point in my head the main four already all live together so i think eventually millymeryl would just. silently combine their rooms. they dont tell vash and wolfwood when they do though because they dont want either of them to try and claim the now extra room, nor make it a shared space. they LIKE having two rooms thank you very much. they get caught at some point and vash gets all pouty about it but wolfwood is like thats fucking hilarious. i would do the same. great job girls. and the girls get to keep their extra room of course.

as for vashwood i think they meet by chance and have like. the opposite of a meetcute. at first theyre like oh this guys an asshole! and think thats it. but then milly and meryl start hanging out more and they introduce their respective besties, which oops surprise they already know eachother! because they were both dicks to eachother in public one time! and its awkward as fuck at first but they end up accidentally bonding over like. well knowing them they probably do something nice for some random kid and thats how they start to be like "hmm maybe i didnt give this guy enough credit, he does seem like a nice dude. ill be easier on him now i guess" and like they still love to annoy eachother. but they have found like a mutual comraderie over it. its all good natured bickering and ribbing. and they both find it entertaining to team up and annoy meryl as much as possible. i think at some point they would both just realized like, oh shit hes one of my best friends and also i think im in love with him? well we dont have time to unpack all that! and they both try to pretend theyre normal. and fail. i think they would end up hooking up after a party or something similar and freak out but then agree on like a fwb situation. and they still are refusing to confess to eachother or believe that their feelings could be reciprocated. meryl wants to hurt them but milly is like ohh meryl theyll figure it out, they just need time! so meryl tries her best to stay out of it and not kill them in their sleep. shes being so brave and strong and were all so proud of her. and idk what would end up making vashwood confess but i think it would be like, some kind of frightening event where theyre afraid of losing eachother. so they finally just go for it cause they dont wanna risk never telling the other how they feel and losing the chance to. and so they FINALLY get their shit together and kiss or whatever. all is well for them.

btw as previously stated all four of them would be roommates in my mind. and kuroneko is their shared cat that adopted them by force one day. milly is the best with kuro, shes very affectionate and sweet and spoils her, and kuro knows it and loves it. meryl sometimes gets frustrated with kuro and doesnt think kuro likes her that much, but they get along pretty well and dont have any issues. vash LOVES kuro and wants to pet her all the time but kuro is so cold to him and it breaks his heart so bad. every now and then she will show him a tiny spot of affection and it keeps him going for months. wolfwood would be like "dads with the cat they didnt want" he would act all annoyed by her and deny liking her but that is his baby and hes carrying her on his shoulders and cooking her fresh chicken to eat because its good for her health and it would be rude to cook chicken for everyone else's dinner and not include her. he buys her collars with cute bows and patterns but if any of the others asked him he would say someone else in the house is responsible. he isnt fooling anyone.

I wish tmnt would put the others as leads rather than Leo I mean it's kind of gotten stale if Leo is always being the main like the others feel so far behind on development or interesting plots we have the last Ronin which thankfully put it as Mikey because that's something new to actually be hyped for because Raph and Leo have always been mains it's annoying and over done for Leo you know like him but find him annoying. I also dislike his fans because they force him into other angst things that have nothin to do with with him such as rise someone put 2012 Leo instead of Donnie being upset with Splinter and wanting him to spend time with him and it being rise Splinter that have nothing to do with him also ruse Leo is literally a Mikey 2.0 going off of 2003 personality wise I mean somewhat different but still similar. Idk it's just frustrating seeing how his fans have this mentality about Leo like He's my second favorite but like jfc. sorry for ranting it's just getting annoying seeing how far behind Donnie Raph and Mikey are at being developed or have anything interesting to do story wise they come off as background side characters a lot of the time compared to Leo who is basically the main character like you can make tmnt without the others as long as you have Leo basically because he's the most popular and recognizable turtle and as long as you have good writing it'll work.

I wouldn't say they're annoying, Leo is just their favorite character, and people tend to find angst for their favorite character. I certainly do with Mikey! I love Mikey angst! Can't get enough, so people do the same with Leo

Also I wouldn't say Leo is just Mikey done all over again, every Leo has made corny jokes in every iteration. 2003 has the worst humor but he still has humor, and 2012 is obsessed with Captain Ryan from his space show. Rise Leo is just that but with a bigger personality, and it may seem like Mikey done all over again, at the end of the day, I think its just the writers trying to make him seem more like a teenager

Also I wouldnt even say hes the most popular, even in the rise fandom! Donnie rivals him there, in fact I mostly meet Donnie fans out of all the turtles of every iteratio, then Raph and Mikey, and overall I know maybe one person whos favorite has always been Leo from the beginning, and thats a big maybe

As for him being the lead, hes the leader but not necessarily the only lead. Writers also tend to favor Raph, its always Raph and Leo in movies, and most of the time in shows

Comics, from what I've seen, tend to give them all equal roles (thank goodness), and I think with Mutant Mayhem we have the start of Mikey and Donnie having bigger roles! I dont want just anyone one turtle being the main focus, I want all of them to have equal roles! Thats what I like about tmnt as a whole, is they are brothers, theyre a team, and they work together

So yeah its annoying tmnt pushes only Raph and Leo in the front and tend to ignore Mikey and Donnie, but thats usually in shows and movies. There are PLENTY of fan artists and writers who adore Mikey and Donnie, you just have to find them, and that can be the trickey part. Look for smaller creators, not people everyone knows, and the best way for them to get bigger and (more importantly) motivated to write or draw more is to comment and share (or in tumblrs case, reblog)

I was wondering if you’d have any tips on script writing for someone who can’t comfortably write a script due to all the crazy formatting required for it to be “legible”. Thanks!

and yes i do write scripts for the comic! i love that you asked this because i have a LOT to say about scripts, the most important one being:

unless you are writing a screenplay, the formatting of a script does not matter.

ive worked in theatre for a long time, as an actor, a writer/composer and as a music director, so ive seen a lot of scripts in my time, and let me tell you. every single script ive read for a play or musical is written with entirely different formatting, and the further you get from film/tv, the less it matters to have Correct Formatting.

i have seen fonts from courier new to times new roman to fucking arial, dialogue might be justified left or justified center, stage directions might start in the middle of the page, be justified right, or stretch across the whole thing, character names might be bolded, they might not, or sometimes some character names are bolded and others arent. and dont get me started about continued lines.

so if youre not writing for film or tv, forget about formatting. it doesnt matter. ill show some screenshots of my scripts in this post and you can copy my formatting if you want but you also dont have to! the important thing is about expressing whats happening, whos saying what, in any method that works for you. a script is a blueprint, not a final product. it doesnt have to be pretty.

if you are writing for film or tv, i cant help you there, im not familiar with screenwriting at all. take some classes, idk

anyway. ask yourself: who has to read this?

in theatre or film, an entire production team has to read a script to put together the final product, and a cast of actors has to perform whats written. in this case, you should anticipate the needs of whos reading it*. clearly distinguishing stage directions from dialogue is helpful for this, as well as giving room on the page for people to write things down, like the stage managers cues, or the directors blocking notes.

*this is why, whenever i write a play or musical, i try to make sure every character has a different first initial, so the stage manager can use a single letter for each character.

("O.S." means off-stage or off-screen.)

im also giving some information to the actors about their dialogue. if i need a line to be said in a specific way, or directed at a certain person, or timed a certain way, i provide some information to help them out. words in parentheses like (To [CHARACTER].), ([Adjective].) or (Beat/Pause.) are helpful for this.

(its important not to do this too much, though, at least when youre writing for actors. actors know what theyre doing and dont need you to tell them everything all the time, and its good to leave some room for the actors to play around with the material.)

(formatting note: im writing in courier new with 12 pt font and single spacing. this way, the amount of pages the script is will be roughly equal to the amount of minutes it takes to perform. its more specific in film/tv.)

if youre writing a script for a comic, where the only person who needs to understand it is you, forget all that! you dont need to write for actors or a production team, youre just writing for yourself, the creator! you already know what you mean by everything, so the script is basically a very long series of notes to yourself. i dont even bother with margins, i write my comic scripts in notepad files, using the font i made for the comic. the only text that gets copy pasted into the comic is the dialogue, everything else is information for me to know and express via the comic medium.

ive developed a few convenient shortcuts for myself this way. if i dont want to describe an expression, i can just type out an emoticon. to indicate separate word bubbles or panels, ill use slashes in the middle of dialogue.

the sentence "Flynn goes >:/." appears many times in almost all my scripts.

ill still use words in parentheses in dialogue sometimes, like if a character sighs or groans, or if i need to specify that something is said a certain way.

to wrap this up: if you take away anything from this, let it be that scripts are not a final product, they are instructions for how to put the final product together. they do not have to be pretty. they just have to be comprehensible.

okay listen. i love the pevensies. they have some really accurate sibling conflicts, like none of them taking lucy seriously because shes the youngest, edmund being easily turned against the others because of his unaddressed resentment, and peter being responsible to the point of overbearing. theyre solid fictional siblings! but NO ONE is doing it like the elrics

and the key difference is that the pevensies dont really like each other?? they love and care for each other, certainly, but they dont get along most of the time and theyre constantly at odds. theres a major power dynamic, and all of them hold some level of resentment toward each other because of that power dynamic. this is certainly realistic, and they do work through some of it, but you kind of get the sense that they love each other out of obligation/proximity, which creates some emotional distance between them. they take care of each other but they dont SUPPORT each other. and it leads to things like edmund getting taken advantage of by the witch or lucy running off by herself all the time.

the elrics, on the other hand, are best friends. theres no significant power dynamic- theyre both equally protective of each other and treat each other with great respect. they go everywhere together, tell each other everything, and each of their motives is to get the OTHER their body back. ed lays down his life for al VERY early on in the show, and toward the end al deliberately puts his life in eds hands (haha get it? cause its...... eds hand....... ANYWAY-) the biggest conflict between them is when al gets manipulated by barry the chopper, which was also partially triggered by ed choosing not to tell al something out of fear of what he would think. that whole conflict is about what happens when the 2 of them keep things bottled up in order to avoid hurting each other. meanwhile lucy is out here running away in the middle of the night because she knows her siblings either wont believe her, or wont let her go because its too dangerous. the pevensies WANT what the elrics have.

and if youre thinking "well thats great but no siblings are like that in real life, its unrealistic" i regret to inform you that i am in fact that close with my siblings. we used to be much more like the pevensies- we spent a lot of time together and cared about each other, but there was a major power dynamic and we didnt get along. then in middle school we realized we were all on the same team and got over our bullshit. and now we're best friends.

now, age does also play a factor- the age gap between me and my siblings is closer to the elrics than the pevensies, so its easy for me to say "the power dynamic is bullshit, lets just be friends!" when its a bit more complicated than that. so, given the age gap, it is understandable that peter would take a more parental role. but you can still have a parent/older sibling who takes charge without talking down to the other person?? especially because, and i just learned this recently, apparently younger siblings genuinely look up to their older siblings??? like its not unreasonable for peter to take charge, but it IS unreasonable for him to dismiss lucy just because shes the youngest. a power dynamic doesnt always have to create resentment, even among teenagers. and yes peters treatment of lucy is addressed, but its in a very christian "children are valued by god" way instead of a "shes a person with valid thoughts and opinions too, you know" way- and im not here to critique the validity of that, im just saying it doesnt really strengthen their sibling dynamic. this is ESPECIALLY clear with the edmund situation- he gets all the blame for that as if his siblings did nothing to drive him away??? maybe if you made him feel loved he wouldnt even be tempted to sell you out!

anyway, in conclusion theyre both very realistic, however the elrics like each other more and thats rarer to see and also way more fun in my opinion. thank you for coming to my ted talk
