about the post you created on other archives… could you explain more? how are these websites created? are they linked to ao3? why is decentralised fandom good? genuinely curious! thank you :)

1.) I can try, but it's 2AM where I am, so I can't promise length or coherence!

2.) For my two, I fired up a server running Ubuntu 22.04, installed a WHOLE MOUNTAIN of pre-requsites, configured all those running services (otw-a runs on a LOT of those), installed otw-archive, fired up the archive via Walter's guide in some part. For Ad Astra, this was weeks of work, including one 50 hour week. By the time I deployed CFAA a year later, I had it most of the way there in like-- three days, and hired melo to finish her off and change the CSS. All three of us have offered to help support others who want to try, too!

3.) They're only linked to AO3 in the sense they run on the same software. SqWA is Walter's, superlove is melo's, CFAA and Ad Astra are mine. (Though we've all become friends through this, and we do talk to OTW -- hi James! -- so there's no animosity.)

4.) Before Web2.0 really dug in and before social media, you had a lot of fan communities. Some bigger, some smaller, but all of them were microcosms of fandom. Ad Astra, my Trekfic community, has been here for 15 years; one single fandom, this group of people, some of us have known each other this whole time. The support and the friendship and the collaboration's amazing. Now-- imagine the whole internet filled with these little pools of light. I remember it; I was a member of several myself. But beyond reviving that community spirit, there's also the basic fact that AO3 is down right now, Fanfiction.net's a nightmare (says someone who was one of her columnists once!), and having all of fandom concentrated into just two sites risks losing some very large part of it if a catastrophe happens. Multiple archives are a good thing for everyone, even AO3.

“How did we get here, Helena?” Dick whispered. “I never thought I'd end up here. I never thought…”

Helena hummed, pressing herself closer to him. It was a private room. Or at least, as private as they ever got. Rank had its privileges. “The war's over,” she said.

“I used to think I'd be home by now and yet here I am.”

“Here we both are.” Her hair was warm against his chest. “Needs must.”

“But the KGBeast?”

Helena looked up. “It's not polite,” she said. “He's the president now.”

“You fought him too,” Dick said. “We both did, back in the day.” He closed his eyes. “I miss Gotham.” Five long years. He'd never thought he'd be in Spyral this long. He never thought he would be dead this long.

“I do too.” Helena had been here even longer than he had. There before him, on the bidding of her own masters. Checkmate, she'd confided in him long ago, pulling on a string she'd never managed to sever. Dick couldn't remember the last time he'd heard from Bruce. Helena never said if she was similarly stranded.

“I miss Tim.” Damian dead in the ground, Barbara, Cass. He'd never thought he'd be leaving them this long.

She was quiet.

“The war's over. Maybe we could go back.”

Helena snorted. “You're a real idiot sometimes, Grayson.”

“It's optimism. What do we even do now?”

“The same as we always do, survive. Do what we can.”

That's what she said when they'd joined the Russians in the first place. It's the only way. We survive and we bring those Earth-2 bastards down any way we can. She'd kissed him, then. He'd taken what comfort he could in it.

“Keep doing the Beast's dirty work, you mean.”

She kissed him now. Small comfort again. “Dick,” she said when she pulled back for breath. “I want us to live. I don't want you ending up on the wrong end of a rope because you couldn't hold your tongue.”

“That's how my parents died, you know,” he said absentmindedly. “On the wrong end of a rope.”

She kissed him again. Briefer, this time. “Learn to lie. Don't join them.”

“I lie all the time.”

“You could fool me.”

Helena was the only one he could be honest with anymore.

“It's about responsibility,” he said, staring up at the ceiling. “You saw Kiev.”

“Terrorists.”

“Like you believe that.”

She huffed. “This is why you need to learn how to lie.”

“Nightwing wouldn't have stood for it. The Huntress wouldn't have stood for it.”

Helena pulled away. “The Huntress is dead and so is Nightwing. We're all that's left.”

Helena had told him once, in the desert, that you let a man live and you give up responsibility for him. He goes out and kills again, because you wouldn't do what needed to be done. Bruce had told him once, in the cave, that you kill a man and you give up responsibility. You kill a man and he's gone forever. Dick had done too much of both over the years. Where did all of that responsibility lie?

“Rumor has it they're going to give you a medal,” Helena said. He'd been quiet for too long.

“I don't need a medal.”

“It means you're important,” she said. “It means we survive another day.”

Dick wasn't sure how much he cared about that any more. Responsibility. He imagined it: dying on the wrong end of a rope. “I want to go home,” he said.

“This is home now. I’m home now. Don’t leave me.”

Dick leaned in. “I love you.”

Helena smiled. “Love you too.” And then there were things to think about other than responsibility and blood. For the night, it could just be them, no dreams of falling.

TAROT are a five member boy group formed by VALENTINE RECORDS. Personally selected, trained and mentored by legendary hip-hop artist LUKE, who also acts as their creative director, TAROT have become known for their eclectic, experimental style, their fans affectionately nicknaming their concept 'genre-roulette.' The majority of TAROT's songs are written and produced by members AHIN and JUNJIE, the latter of whom is especially criticised for favouring the best parts of the song for himself.

Despite being critical darlings, TAROT's public image has been shaky from the start, thanks to rumours of infighting, sharp differences in popularity between members, and certain members' outspoken ways. Often wheeled out as damage control when the headlines get nasty for their labelmates; TAROT are easily the most overworked act under VALENTINE, and when they're not on tour or preparing for a comeback, they're split up for solo schedules.

hi lilli! this may be like, a bit of a random ask BUT!!! i’m starting to get on the charli xcx agenda and i would love to know some of your favourite songs or some of her best ones maybe? kind of like to know where to get started? thank youuu 🫶🏼🫶🏼

liyah!!! yes i can!!! i'll give u a few small lists because there's a few ways you could kind of enter her discography and also i want to share some of my favs of hers:

brat— this is her most cohesive album in my opinion, i'd give it a full listen at least once because all the songs work in tandem with each other and tell a story. anyway here are some songs from that era that id rec as a starting point because they're fairly easy listens compared to some of her more experimental songs— sympathy is a knife, 365, apple (criminally underrated song), von dutch, guess and spring breakers.

older eras— i feel like her older eras lean more pop than brat does which is easier to get into if you're not used to the club girl of it all lol. but honestly brat is her best album and i'd start there. anyway some recs— good ones, yuck, unlock it (lock it), break the rules, boys, superlove
