Today I'm thinking about manga versions of Maxie and Archie, because it's something... I even dont have words for it. Like. Holy fucking shit.

In the beginning, of course, they're confront each other - that's the classic, they're rivals after all, standing for different things and all that things. They're different. They're opposites. They're still strongly exist in each other lives, because of their conflict.

But then

This happens. And this IS beginning of the end, because of course they're working together - and at the moment it looks like it is only for benefits for their goals, nothing else. They will destroy each other when they will get to finish.

They're fucking irritating(/pos), it almost feels like they're drawn to each other, in any scenario, their destiny is to meet, to exist in each other lives. None of them exist alone (and when one of them do exist alone, it means that something went terribly wrong).

AND THEN THINGS JUST GO EVEN WORSE (/pos)

Do I need start with that they're realizing they work together perfectly? Do I start with that this making them thinking they needed to work together from the beginning? Do I start with that two men, who, up until this point, was fighting with each other and conflicting, hating each other, founded in each other the best partner they ever could have? Do I start with that they're probably the best persons in each other lives?

It is already very emotional (at least for me), but with how story goes on, they're connecting more and more, becoming even more emotionally fucked up.

AND THEN THERE IS EMERALD ARC???? CAN WE PLEASE TALK ABOUT EMERALD ARC???????

There is so much going on in emerald arc I barely can find words for describing my emotions.

This is the fucking tragedy. Because, what do you mean, they're put in situation where is only one of them can leave alive for some more time? (Remember how I said that if only ONE if them exist it means that some shit is going to happen something going to go really terrible. It either them both exist or them both don't).

What do you mean Archie is literally killed Maxie, just for chance of living a little longer?

And this is tragedy, because Archie, in the end, loses again. And now, not only he does lose in literal sense - he didn't achieve his goal, after all. He loses everything he had - his team, his life, and most importantly, he loses his only friend. He is all alone now.

Ah yeah can we talk about

It's just one phrase. It has so much in it.

Not only he calls Maxie friend, not only he confess that Maxie probably the only one person which Archie was thinking as a friend, but also like.

Consider this: this isn't oras archie yet. This version of archie is cold, closed and gloomy, genuinely intimidating person. He doesn't care about his team members, it is kind of okay for him to use them as tools (which, ironically, shows even in this interaction with Maxie: after all, Archie still killed him for a chance of living a bit longer. And Archie acknowledging that he betrayed Maxie. He betrayed his only one friend). He is a cold person, but it almost seems like Maxie managed to warm him up a bit, just a little bit. This is actually incredible and, again, endlessly emotional, and I still can't stress this enough. Holy fucking shit.

Just imagine Archie at this point. Imagine, because, the best person in his life always was his rival. His rival, and maybe, even friend.

And I told about this before, but can we talk about that in distorted world they became one? It's just so symbolic. Like, Archie and Maxie from beginning were opposites, they was supporting opposite things, their goals was completely opposite. But they can't choose only one of this, because everything around them is a combination of different, sometimes opposite things. Like even the land and water in Hoenn! Exactly this combination of land and water create Hoenn as we know it, and how they know it. And they, people, who choosed only one of these things, in the end, became the one themselves - isn't this ironic? Isn't this funny? Isn't it symbolic in some way? (I also fucking love how this fusion explain in some way why when oras hits, Maxie is more like original Archie, and Archie more like original Maxie. They had explored each other minds I'm sure of it)

And finally, ORAS, part that I love the most.

Not only they both was given chance of living again, but this is literally their peak. They're working together again - and by that I mean they're working perfectly together.

They even acknowledge it themselves:

And this is so good in contrast with Ruby and Sapphire arc - back then, they too, realized and started to think they're work perfectly together, but it still was mixed with some evil fucked up shit, but here? They're working together because they (ironically), have the same goal. And they're helping each other.

They're working together perfectly, this is so good for them. And no evil bullshit this time! It's actually best versions of them in some way - because they're working together, for sake both of humanity and pokemon. They working towards happiness and safety for everyone, not choosing and prioritizing only one of them.

And they're talking to each other as if they was old friends, partners, every one of their interactions shines with this somewhat warm feeling. This is so good for them. I would even dare to say that ORAS part was the happiest moments in their lives.

And.. Then end of ORAS hits.

And, again, as classic already, it's a small panel, but how much here is.

First of all, can I point that Archie died two times, and both times he was thinking of Maxie in some way?

And both times is some kind of emotional moment for Archie: first time, he calls Maxie friend (he doesn't call him by name, but. He obviously talking about him COME ON), and second time he ask Maxie, if he would want to work together again, if they will have chance to do so. I just love seeing this progression, how Maxie became more and more dear person for Archie as time goes on, how he became more attached to him. And Maxie does too!

It is such an incredible moment filled with so much emotions, with so much sense. I love how Archie doesn't even say his question fully, but Maxie still understands him. Of course he does, because, I'm sure, even if Archie didn't ask this, Maxie still would think of it. I'm sure if none of them said this, they still would understand this wish to work together again that they both have. At this point, they are incredibly connected together, and they have only each other.

I also love this moment, because when Archie died first time, he was told that, if he will continue like this, he will end up all alone. And Archie agrees to that: he answer in the way that he is already accepted that he is alone now, and he doesn't even have Maxie by his side (I still can't get over that he really highlighted him in this speech holy fucking shit). BUT then, when he appears next time, he appears as ORAS self, and his ORAS self is very different from what he was, not only as a person, but his motivation is different, too.

He changed in some way. And he ISN'T alone, because now, Maxie is by his side again. And I can't stop thinking about how happy it probably made Archie.

And even dying, he is calm, because he isn't alone. He have Maxie by his side. His only friend.

What villains would reconsider their plans if confronted by their S/O?

well, naturally, it depends on how far in they all are. bc no one is stopping them once they're about to awaken a legendary.

Truly, Maxie and Archie can likely be convinced. Their shared madness about upsetting the balance of land to ocean ratio can be amended so long as it is not right as they awaken the legendary. Both really do cate about their lover's thoughts, but simply feel driven to finish their goals. (Especially considering they formed an entire group around the premise.) It would probably take a few times, yet when their partner questions them from a logical perspective, they both just suddenly freeze. Maxie's scientist brain finally activates, and he feels like an idiot just trying to spite an old friend/rival. Archie just feels mortified that he almost drowned everyone and made the earth even inhospitable to most pokemon. But, they do stop. Somehow.

Cyrus, in a way, can be stopped, but it would not be through discussion. Truly, giving him some other purpose that distracts him from lingering too much on his worst thoughts does work best (Lenie method), but he also is quite terrified of upsetting and losing his partner. He wants his perfect world, but he also wants the only person that he genuinely feels close to remaining in his life. Telling him that you know and that you want it to stop leaves him breathless and terrified. Of course, this would have to be early on. After he gets a taste of the Sinnohan myth knowledge, it will be difficult to get him to stop climbing that damn mountain.

Guzma... If we count him, can have whatever affect Lusamine cast on him destroyed when his partner asks him what the fuck he is doing. He will stop. Yeah, maybe it is not a good idea to listen to the lady who started calling herself a mother to everyone but her children. Gladion does not seem to be doing too well. He agrees pretty readily.

Lily Orchard and Pokemon: Gen 3

Okay I'm gonna try to keep these shorter. But to be fair- Lily is going to start belly aching in Gen 4 beyond so I might have more to cover.

Lily's, he's fucking ten. I don't even think you CAN be sexist at that age because I don't think your brain is developed enough to form complex thoughts or beliefs. Also that is LITERALLY the one time he mentions it.

That's the kind of thing a retrospective is supposed to SOLVE, Lily. You're supposed to be asking yourself 'Why did the developers choose to do this at this point instead of something else?' But so far, your video has been nothing but you either belly aching or you making half baked jokes.

Anyway- Rock is chosen to encourage the player to diversify their moveset as Rock resists Normal, the most common attacking type in the early game, as well as all of them being physically defensive, which counters most attacks in the early game as Physical Normal moves. It's also weak to Grass and Water, encouraging the player to experiment and understand type matchups better. The Fire problem is solved by either slapping the Fighting type onto the starter or giving it a Steel move in the case of FR/LG.

Second- Yes, you can control what you fight. Go fight wild Pokemon with the Macho Brace. They'll give you the proper EVs if you care THAT much.

Third- EVs...can't make your Pokemon worse. They can be wasted but they are only ever buffs. And you don't need perfect EVs for the main game. Try proofreading.

Lily, you just got done explaining why Maxie (and by extension, Archie in Sapphire) is a fucking moron for trying to erupt a volcano which would kill INNUMERABLE PEOPLE just to make land (or water) for Pokemon. (She says it's for people.)

By definition, they are not good just because there is less of them and thus they can make plans. It just means they have less time to fail those stupid plans.

Pokemon FNF Mod Idea

hi i wrote this like a year ago or smth and edited after SV came out so here it is now

My ideal Pokemon FNF mod is one that spans across all generations along with a couple other things because why not

A main theme with the mod is that the songs are a 2 on 2 between BF, whoever the opponent is, and their pokemon. Whoever BF is rapping against his Pokemon will be different but it will correlate with whatever the opponent is.

Main Week: VS Red

3 songs called "Champion" "Flamethrower" and "Strike"

In the first two songs the songs will be BF and Blastoise VS Red and Charizard, and in the third song Red will use Mewtwo instead. As for mechanic notes there will be Fire and Psyshock notes that when hit will shorten your health bar and the more you hit the shorter it gets, the only way to extend it again is to hit potion notes.

Storywise it's pretty straight forward, BF wants to be the very best like no one ever was so he fights Red on Mount Silver. As the week progresses Red kinda doesn't care and then in the third song just wants to end it quick so he brings out Mewtwo.

So X and Y isn't that good when it comes to characters, however when it comes to the Pokemon themselves they were awesome, and i didn't have an idea for a generation being repped by a Pokemon, X and Y introduced Mega's, and thought it's be cool to rap against a Mega Lucario.

I was doing some thinking about the Champions and other adults involvement in their games.

Oak just gave Red and Blue their starter and dex then kicked them out into the world. No help. No guidance.

Blue, as a champion, was Red's rival, who also had his own personal issues to deal with( probably revolving around Oak)

Lance was only interactive during the Red Gyarados event and raiding the Team Rocket HQ. He does not appear anywhere else after.

Steven doesn't do much other than pop up here and again during rse. Same for Wallace. In ORAS, however, Steven battles along side the player once to save Latios/Latias. But that's it. The player still has to face gaint forces of nature by themselves. Funnily enough, Maxie and Archie protects the player more so than the supposed good guys( not that they don't endanger them either, but given that they are bad guys and they were pretty honest about what they were planning to do). They tell them not to get involved and in ORAS, they make a suit to protect the player. Again, not much, but better than them doing nothing.

Norman is a workaholic father who rarely spends time with his kid. Not saying he doesn't care, he does, but being that emotionally distant is harmful. Also he doesn't do much other than being an obstacle you must face. Which is also bad. Your child thinks of you more of an obstacle than a father. Archie ( and kinda Maxie. Especially in the remakes and in Masters) is low-key a better support system than your own father. Think about that( but not really surprising)

*Sigh* Oh Cynthia. You already know. She does nothing except give minor lore. Which is cool until she's making the player face both Cyrus and his entire team and Giratina by themselves. What's worse is that she's a strong trainer. She could have helped battle wise. And you could argue that she was testing the player, but to that extent? No thank you.

Prof.Rowan doesn't do much, if at all. But in the few times he does show up, he's making sure the player is alright( in his own way). He's better than Oak in that sense. A grumpy but loving grandpa.

Alder and other BW adult cast is interesting. In fact I think I'll give them a pass, though if anyone disagrees feel free to share. Why? Because the nature of Team Plasma in BW. Before shit went down, they were bascically a activist group. And activist group with a very good point. So good that it questions ones morality and thinking of life. And that's the thing. Team Plasma( before shit REALLY hit the fan) was a moral and social problem. We saw how they affected Burgh, a gym leader. How other gym leaders perceived them. though it did change once they figured out their true colors. Other than that, BW is the only case where all the gym leaders( except the triplets but it was part of their development so they get a pass), and Alder himself did help the player a plenty of times

I will acknowledge that I am biased towards the BW games, so please take the above with a pinch of salt.

B2W2, however, there's literally no adults that help. Except N. And Drayden. And one the Sages that I keep forgetting the name of. Marlon? But other than that, the main cast is just a bunch of teens. Cheren and Bianca are canonically 16 in B2W2. They're still teens. We can only assume that the protagonists and Hugh are teens as well. We don't know the age of Iris in BW or B2W2, but we do know that she's still a child! She's probably 12 or something by then. But the thing is that my girl Iris got done dirty. In BW she was so eager to do more in going against Team Plasma. Where was she in B2W2?! If Alder can roam around Unova and help the player as champion, why can't she?! Smh.

Diantha does nothing. Literally nothing. She doesn't even give lore. Sycamore is almost presented as a bystander/ enabler. Fortunately, evolutions did show us that he did try to pull Lysandre out of this descent into madness, but it was so much after the fact, y'know. The worst part for me is that these two could have been really interesting characters, especially Diantha. She had a team flare member in her league! Show her investigating things more, or be there during the climax of the story!

Kukui is actually pretty tough for me cause I'm torn. In hindsight, he doesn't do much to actually protect Lillie from any threats- that's the player. Who's 11. So. Not a good look. That kinda goes for other adults in Alola, really. @epicspheal kinda pointed out how hands off they are to conflict. It really made some situations worse than it needed to be. In the other hand, he provided a safe place for Lillie. You could argue that his hands off approach to things was for Lillie to gain a new sense of herself. Of course, that doesn't excuse the lack of action on his or the other alolans end, but because of that freedom, she was able to find a sense of self and stand up to her mother. So, in short, I see it as a bit more nuance. But having an 11 year old handle inter-dimensional beings, an abusive mother, and etc is....not good.( I think the anime actually portrayed Kukui pretty well tho, but I don't remember much) ( ALSO BURNET AND WICKE DESERVE BETTER. BUT MOSTLY BURNET SHE COULD HAVE DONE SO MUCH IN THE STORY)

"Let the adults handle it" is a line that appears a lot in SwSh. Which in terms of keeping the literal children save, it's really good. The problem, imo, is that it's to the point where the player is blind sighted by the turn of events that happens. Now this is a general plot/pacing problems in SwSh, but the kids are really left in the dark. Again, for their protection and to focus on their important thing( the gym challenge), but( and this is completely dependent on the story you want to tell here) it could make the protagonist feel dumb. Especially if they are aware that something is going on and they have a little chance of helping. Again, I get the reason, but indirectly causing a child to believe they are not smart enough to understand something is still not good on their mental health. Not to mention that because they don't know anything other than the history of the two kings, they have to be the ones to save Galar. Again, not saying the adults didn't do anything. God, Leon was trying very hard for Hop and Mc to not be burdened with whatever is going on. But it still happened. Now, while I don't think the mc would hate Leon and the other adults in the main cast, I wouldn't be surprised if they were very very annoyed. Of course that's just me. In hindsight, the adult cast is just as good as the BW one, in terms of helping the mc, or on their case, literally not making the face any danger at all ( until it's too much to contain).

I did all of that cause I was torn if I would change some of these. For people like Cynthia, Diantha and Iris, they got terribly shafted. They could have easily done more. They all could, really. But when I look at the others, like Kukui or Leon I think " there's a lot of nuance to this that could be explored". So do I rewrite them to have a more active role so it won't "be child gets traumatized after saving the world" or should I hold them accountable for their inaction. Both? I don't know.

going back to the piano hc, even if its just a hobby Maxie has been playing for at least 30 years now (hes around...37? to me anyways. Archie's the same) and he can play like Mozart n shit. He hasn't played in front of anyone since he was like 10 but Archie is encouraging him to start playing again, for him at least. Helps Maxie get out of his shell after years of being uptight (hes still pretty strict but hes making an effort to unlearn bad behaviours like pushing people away and all that stuff.)

in terms of pda, they're both pretty hopeless honestly. Archie could tell the worst joke you've ever heard and maxie is holding back tears bc its the worst and best thing to him. Maxie still feels like he has a reputation to hold in public (he really doesnt. cmon dude) so Archie noticing that his s/o is holding his hand more and more without holding himself back is really endearing.

Maxie has admittedly answered the door to their house in an oversized t shirt owned by Archie (which Maxie stole but he won't admit it). Archie likes to style his and Maxie's hair, much to his dismay (he secretly likes it though. As ashamed as he is to admit it. hes quite touch starved.)

Archie has a habit of staring fondly at Maxie doing mundane things from cooking to putting clothes on the washing line.

Before the formation of team aqua and team magma they canonically worked together in the same team before (ive heard a few theories point to team rocket which im not opposed to) and even with their conflicting ideals and arguments, they couldn't help worrying about the other. absense makes the heart grow fonder and all that. some time in the post game one of them breaks and blurts out their thoughts and feelings and the other one is like holy shit i feel the same way.

I'm glad you asked!! They are either friends or colleagues of the boys based on canon, for example, oras shelly is oras archie's friend! They're neighbours and they've been close since they were babies. Since they live near to the beach, they often hang out there swimming and playing together.

I headcanon that Matt and Courtney are way younger than their leaders, so in this au they're still babies. Matt is also a neighbour's kid.

At @potatoes-n-stuff 's suggestion, Rse Tabitha & Courtney are siblings with Oras Tabitha and Courtney.

Rse Tabby hoards mightyenas and is a doting brother to Oras Courtney. He's an uptight big brother and always fuss over his siblings' well-being, meanwhile Rse Courtney is the opposite, she does her own thing and hates Tabitha because he's always like 'don't do this, don't do that, help me with chores etc'. Oras Tabitabi loves hanging out with Rse Courtney (fun!), to Rse Tabitha's dismay.

Oras Courtney is slowly learning to walk and she likes Rse Tabitha the most due to him spending the most time with her. When Oras Tabitabi is not hanging out with his big sister, he helps watch over his little sister.

Rse Tabitha, Rse Shelly and Rse Matt are the same age. Shelly and Matt are childhood friends, meanwhile Tabitha and Shelly are rivals in terms of pkmn battling and a lot more. Rse Tabitha admires Rse Maxie a lot, he thinks he's cool.

I haven't drawn Spe admins, but they're Spe Maxie's gang and they spend a lot of time together. Spe Archie is a loner emo kid and doesn't have friends. I also drew the Three Beasts a while back just to create trouble :'3

So.. that's the gist of it, i might draw/write the admins in more detail later. Sorry if this is confusing, there are too much versions here xD;

I love both versions of the headcanons behind Maxie and Archie's former team.

On the one hand, to picture them as part of an existing previous team is nice because no one would know why they broke up and became rivals since the team didn't need them to function. So now they're just all over the place, starting their own organization, spreading chaos and using the environment to justify their extreme actions while their followers are like: Yeah, I don’t know why we hate the other organization so much but if boss told us to hate them, we'll do it!

On the other hand, to picture them as leaders of the same team is basically two parents going through a divorce and admittedly picking their favorite children/forcing them to pick a favorite parent. Courtney and Tabitha? It's Maxie. He has a sense of order and structure they crave. Shelly and Matt? They just like Archie better because he lets them eat ice cream for dinner. Consequences? That's for our future selves to worry about!

Both versions are ridiculous and hilarious because they're still divorced and making it about everybody else on the planet. I love these two chaotic dads.
