I know spotify wasn't a thing probably for the aftg universe but like imagine it was and the trojans are holding a spotify wrapped unwrapped party or some dumb name like that, where they gather the team and what they do essentially is they write down what their top 5 songs were on a piece of paper, give it to this year's presenter and that person plays songs from each top 5 and the trojans have to figure out whose list it is.
So everyone thinks oh jean probably listens to french music, whether classical or otherwise, cause he seems to be so out of touch with pop culture. But, they forget that Jean started living with two lesbians and a gay golden retriever(I don't mean bark bark) and so his music horizons have widened.
So it's Jean's top 5, no one knows of course. Presenter is one of the trojans "and here goes our next mystery contestant starting off strong with... a band named, I assume it's a band, um plastic titties?" People are snickering, "we get it you're gay" "they're lesbians Harold!", and Jean tenses but hides it very well that it's his top 5. Song starts. It's a screamo punk indie rock combo. Ppl start making guesses, "your honour I think it's Cat, only she knows fringe bands with monthly listeners less than this team's defence line" cat yelling back "not my fault you're a slave to the trends you swiftie!" , "Look me in the eye and tell me you dont know the words to 'love story' " , "Settle down, we ain't finished yet. Any other guesses?" , "Are we sure it's not one of the coaches?" , "Which coach do YOU think would listen to, and I repeat, 'plastic titties'? And if anyone else responds with 'your mom' I'm banning u from this round" , "Play the next one so we cop a feel" , "Why u gotta make it weird bro"
"Okay next one!" And the next one is like an intense rap song "someone's covering their tracks people", "we need to figure out whether this is working out music or what they genuinely listen to", "go on to the next one cause this is a bop but it could be anyone", "couldn't be Jeremy though" Jeremy standing up for himself "hey, I listen to rap" , "says the person who's top song was probably by Natasha Bedingfield", "beat the Sugababes fan allegations and then refer to our captain"
"Riight, next one is" and the next one is a funky hip hop anti-establishment song "sounds like Laila people" laila making it clear "I do listen to them but I can guarantee you that's not in my top favourites, not because it's not a banger, but because I don't listen to this album very much" , "she's lying to the defence your honour!" , "No one's in trial Cody sit down" Jean turning to look at Jeremy "and this is supposed to be a bonding exercise?" Jeremy thoroghouly invested in the game and scribbling down "bet you it's Ananya, she's been awfully quiet" Jean rolls his eyes, his hands crossed while he looks upon the second best collegiate exy team and wondering how his life came to this
"Aight? Is there anyone that has an educated guess?" Shawn puts his hand up, presenter says "I said educated" Shawn puts his hand down.
The last two songs are like an indie creepy heartfelt song and a ballad. This throws everyone off. At the end of the round everyone is accusing everyone and their mother, Jean with a sigh and rubbing his temples "we could be doing drills" , someone yells "I bet my firstborn it's Nabil!" , "You are an embarrassment to this team, sit down!" "Nabil is an anime nerd, I didn't hear a single Naruto in that playlist!", "That's not amv music your honour" , "bring the strikers forward let them justify their crimes upon the eyes of God!" , "If it's a crime to have good taste lock👏 me 👏up👏"
The presenter gets tired after a while "alright, kindly shut your traps so we can have a winning day! The mystery contestant is.. drumroll people! The mystery contestant isss....Jean" Silence. And then "I didn't know the french listen to screamo?", "But your honour, this is not coloniser music?", "Amelie is not even on there though", someone quietly "not a single song about baguettes?", "What's next? Jeremy Knox being a secret death metal fan?"
Meanwhile, Dan got the foxes to post screenshots of their top 5 songs on social media. The Internet is breaking cause why is Andrew Minyard's top song by the veronicas???

Welcome to another round of W2 Tells You What You Should See, where W2 (me) tries to sell you (you) on something you should be watching. Today's choice: 彩香ちゃんは弘子先輩に恋してる / Ayaka-chan wa Hiroko-senpai ni Koishiteru / Ayaka is in Love with Hiroko!
Tumblr media
Ayaka is in Love with Hiroko! is a 2024 eight-episode Japanese comedy of errors about what happens when two adorable lesbians continually get in the way of their own relationship.
I think the poster gives a somewhat wrong impression: Hiroko (in black) is not a straight girl horrified that she is being hugged by a lesbian; she is a lesbian horrified that she is being hugged by her crush, whom she perceives to be an oblivious straight girl. But as the title of the show would suggest, Ayaka (in pink) is very much not a straight girl, and is instead a determined young woman with sapphic designs on the hot older woman at her job.
And they are both so, so stupid about it.
The whole wacky, wonderful series will take up a mere three hours and twelve minutes of your life, so here, as was the case with Otoko Meshi, is a correspondingly quick list of five reasons to watch it.
1. Clueless Lesbian 4 Clueless Lesbian
Tumblr media
Have you ever seen someone have a crush and proceed to be normal about it? Well, you won't find that here. Ayaka is going to con this beautiful, competent woman into topping her if she has to kill everyone in this office to do it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hiroko refuses to believe that Ayaka might actually mean what she's saying, choosing instead to believe that Ayaka's actions are pure platonic displays of admiration, even when Ayaka outright says what she's after. Meanwhile, Ayaka simply cannot imagine why her very targeted overtures are always being rebuffed, interpreting Hiroko's continued resistance as a sign that Ayaka is simply not doing a good enough job of seducing her. She's got to up her game, dammit!
Tumblr media
If you like the type of business where it takes multiple dates for two women to figure out they are in fact girlfriends, this is for you. Every oblivious lesbian trope in the book is on display here. It's a war of attrition between a woman who feels obligated to say no because she doesn't believe the person asking understands what she's asking for, and a woman who won't take "no" for an answer because she's certain that as soon as she figures out how to ask the question correctly, the answer will be "yes."
Tumblr media
And will it be? Well, of course it will, because you know how this genre works. But not before some adorable wlw wackiness ensues!
2. Harold, they're (actually) lesbians
Often in both BL and GL properties, characters are presented as mostly straight with only plot-related same-sex leanings, usually having moments of going, I can't believe I'm falling for a wo|man!
The main lady-loving characters in this show have no trouble believing they're falling for women, because one's been out to herself as a lesbian since she was in middle school, one's just coming to terms with her desire for women but has acknowledged that it probably indicates she's a lesbian, and one honestly just never stopped to consider that being a woman desperately in love with another woman is pretty gosh darn lesbian behavior.
Tumblr media
And I like that, you know? As much as I love a good Gay For You plot, I appreciate one that acknowledges that there's a whole very real community out there of people who feel the same way! You are not the only girl in the world who wants to kiss other girls! Lesbians have their own networks, hangouts, stereotypes, relationships, and even aesthetics that are distinctly lesbian. You can find them in real life, and I like it when you can find them in fiction too.
Tumblr media
These aren't just straight relationships with incidentally matching genitals. There aren't even any strict butch/femme dynamics or demands that lesbianism equal gender-nonconformity. Sure, Hiroko is slightly more toward the masculine side of the gender slider than most of the other women in the show, but she's definitely not outright masc. While she's real into Ayaka's girly looks, as we see from flashbacks, Hiroko's not what you'd call picky about the gender presentation of her female partners.
Tumblr media
They even go to a lesbian bar! The world's tiniest, most brightly lit lesbian bar! A magical place where you can always meet a beautiful red-clad femme, a cute little tomboy, and...
3. That hot bartender
Tumblr media
It's like a good fairy granted a lion one wish, and the lion said it wanted to be turned into a beautiful Japanese lesbian, and the good fairy was like, wow, that's such a good wish, I'm going to make sure it turns out really great for you.
Tumblr media
We are all the big-titty lesbian in red here.
4. Ayaka's outfits!
A major conceit of the show is that Ayaka, in response to her crush on Hiroko, has given herself a complete makeover, choosing outfits and hairstyles that (accurately) reflect Hiroko's tastes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even if you don't like her outfits -- and let's be real, some of them are a bit much for me -- they're still very cute and a lot of fun to see worn.
I do want to note that this isn't just a story about Girl Changes Entire Personality For Boy Girl She Likes. Ayaka's pre-transformation self is severe and almost robotic, and ... well, it doesn't seem to make her particularly happy to be like that. It seems less like her older persona is her "real" personality, and more like it's one that she'd just settled on because she'd been told it's what being an adult means.
Tumblr media
There, that's what she used to dress like.
When she decides to change her style, she initially steers way too hard in the other direction, to the point where it feels like she went home and binge-watched fifty romcoms to learn how to be a person. (I'm just saying, if you wanted, you could choose to read Ayaka as an interesting flavor of autistic.) Over the course of the show, though, she gently settles into her new mode, which winds up suiting her so much better! So it's less about the nerdy girl having to leave her nerdy self behind to earn the attention of her crush, and more about how having a crush gives a girl the incentive to stop dressing the same way her parents dressed her in the second grade.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also very cute: Some elements of her wardrobe get reused! She doesn't just magically wear several whole new things every episode! We see her apartment, and it's not large. She doesn't have room for a million different complete outfits, so she has to mix and match.
So yeah, if you, like Hiroko, like to see a cute girl wearing cute things, this show has just what the lesbian doctor ordered. (It's me, I'm the lesbian doctor.) (No, seriously, I am.)
5. A weirdly thoughtful take on the complexities of queer workplace relationships!
The show knows it can't keep up the absolute lesbian obliviousness the whole time, so feelings start to become clear about halfway through -- at which point the conflict that fuels the drama stops being about mistakenly thinking people are straight, and becomes more about why a lesbian office romance might not be the smartest career move for either of them.
Tumblr media
After all, by the time you're in your mid-thirties and you've been working in the same place for over a decade, you're pretty well-established in your position -- but not so much that your job is completely safe from gossip or disapproving looks from your higher-ups. Meanwhile, when you're in your early twenties and just getting started, it won't do you any good to have everyone suspecting any future success is just a result of your sleeping with the (girl)boss.
So the goofy lesbian misunderstandings are fun and funny, but their worries about how dating will affect their jobs are real.
Tumblr media
You find out eventually why Hiroko is particularly touchy about workplace relationships, and it's a very good reason! But at the same time the show explains this very good reason, it also points out that Japanese culture is slowly becoming more accepting of out gay people. Ten years can make a pretty big difference! Older generations might still be regressive about open queerness, but there's growing support from the youth.
Tumblr media
Like these supportive coworkers! Aren't they precious?
I will admit, I am not the biggest fan of boss/underling romance dynamics. However, that never bothered me in this series, because Hiroko never feels quite like Ayaka's boss. She's Ayaka's sempai, sure, but she feels more like a senior colleague than an actual supervisor -- and Ayaka is 100% the one pursuing her, not the other way around. Still, if the idea of any hierarchy-crossing workplace relationship is an absolute dealbreaker for you ... well, you probably stopped reading this rec several paragraphs ago, so I'm not going to worry about it!
Anyway, don't get me wrong and assume this is something deep and serious about how perceptions of queerness can hinder professional success, because it's not. It's a goofy little comedy with cute outfits and dumb lesbians. But it's also a goofy little comedy that also occasionally makes some smart observations, and I like that about it.
bonus: Of course there's an adorable manga!
Tumblr media
And you can read it here! It's a bit wackier and it makes some choices that wouldn't have worked in a live-action drama, but they're quite entertaining on the page. Here's the MangaDex summary:
Soft and bubbly office lady Ayaka is madly in love with her senior at work, Hiroko! Two lovestruck coworkers who both think the other is straight totally crush on each other… popular Twitter artist Sal Jiang’s latest office rom-com!
If anything, it handles Ayaka's transformation better than the show does, because it makes clearer that even after the makeover, she's still as intense and tough to crack as she was before -- around everyone but Hiroko. It even says in so many words that sometimes Ayaka's smiling demeanor is just masking.
The manga also knows a lot better what their job actually is, while the drama is more along the lines of, we work in an office! we do events! we have meetings! we create things for clients! It's basically the same Generic Company, LLC that every character in a modern AU fanfic does endless paperwork at.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Beside that, the series is a pretty darn faithful adaptation of the manga! Three volumes and eight episodes seem to be enough to carry about the same amount of story.
Want to watch the cute lesbians?
Sure you do! And the most reliable place to get them appears to be GagaOOLala, though I've found the whole series uploaded by various people on Dailymotion (here's episode 1 from one account, though you can find others).
It's a laugh-out-loud romp smart enough to know to get in there, tell a cute little bite of a story, and get out before the joke gets old. If you believe in the truth and goodness of lesbian love, treat yourself with this cheerful little romance that's only a slight exaggeration of how oblivious real-life lesbians can be.

Here's a post about my first au of 2024
P4 parents of P5 au (this needs a shorter title goddamn)
So it's. The Phantom Thieves are raised by the Investigation Team. Simple as that
Yu and Yosuke adopt Akira at age 5, after his parents give him up for being too much trouble. He loves his aunt Nanako, and uncle Teddie, and will eventually inherit the Narukami Family Secret; the rizz.
Chie and Yukiko end up raising two thieves, Ann and Ryuji. Ryuji's father is in jail for killing his mom, and originally the Takamaki's adopted him. Then, they got too busy with work. Chie and Yukiko fostered the two together for a year before officially adopting them at 3. They know they're not related but they're still brother and sister, and Ryuji dyes his hair this time to match his sister, after other Inaba kids make comments about her "foreigner hair"
Kanji is with Naoki in this one. You know, Saki's brother. The King's of the shopping district foster little Haru after her father is caught in an insider trading scandal, and she's adopted officially at 4 after 2 years. She's always got the cutest little dresses, which Kanji makes for her all the time. And, Naoki with his curly hair making sure Haru's curls are well cared for
Then. I had this in another au but. Naoto and Rise adopt baby Makoto, which is the incident that sparks the mass child acquiring among their friends. Sae visits from the city where she's studying, but yeah.
And, Wakaba and Sojiro? They run away before Wakaba is killed. They bring little Futaba to Inaba, move when she's like, 4, and find little orphan Yusuke along the way. They take in Goro after finding out he's Futaba's half brother when he's 12, so they've got the most Thieves Per Household (TPH)
It's got so many good little bits for it. Childhood Friends phantom thieves, the IT watching their kids grow up and be besties too, and. EVERYONE HAVING GOOD FAMILYS DAMNIT THEY DESERVE TO HAVE A GOOD HOME TO RETURN TO EACH NIGHT
Now, some little things I have for this au
Ryuji and Makoto were on the same youth soccer team in elementary school. Chie would pick Makoto up and Rise would drop Ryuji off after, and it starts the life long Jock Friends thing they have going. When they're at Yasogami, after sports clubs they go up to the roof and ramble about their gay crushes together
Haru and Akira are both part timers at Leblanc, which opens in the shopping district in one of the empty lots in the North end. Kanji and Naoki were betting about which of their shops she'd want to work at and both lost
Ann joining the Yasogami drama club, crushing on Shiho and so upset that she's in Ryuji's class instead of Ann's, being unafraid to tell her parents about liking girls because. They're lesbians, Harold
Goro, newly adopted, emo twelve year old, and. Futaba (10) and Yusuke (11) stare at him and decide that despite him being the oldest, they will call him Little Brother. Cause. He's the newest.
Sleepovers at the Inn, playing down by the Samegawa, just. So many good things. Comfort au.

Character Headcanons
this is just sexuality and gender hcs lol but here we go! I'm going to go in first elimination order in their debut season, except for the new cast (because i haven't finished the season yet, so I dont want to spoil it for myself) which will be in the order that i remember them, then the hosts.
Ezekiel: I think he's cishet. just the homeschool stereotype and all that. but maybe he discovers something about himself between meeting alejandro and going completely feral
Eva: she's a butch lesbian. i personally think she's cis, but i could see transfem eva
Noah: gay trans man. i mean have you guys even seen his character
justin: I think he's aroace. again, i personally think justin is cis, but i could see him being trans
katie: trans lesbian. i just know it okay
tyler: he's bi. he absolutely had a crush on alejandro. you can't change my mind. i also think he's cis but again, i could see him being transmasc
izzy: shes transfem. of course. and i think she's a lesbian, but i could see her being bi or pan. assuming she's lesbian, her relationship with owen could either be just strategy or comphet. you decide
cody: have you seen the way that boy dresses? trans man bisexual disaster.
beth: personally, i think she gives cishet vibes, but i could see her possibly being bi and/or transfem.
sadie: obviously lesbian. she and katie are in love. of course. and idk if she's cis or trans. i could see either. but I think she is also trans. t4t
courtney: as much as i love duncney... i think courtney is lesbian. i think she has extreme comphet and she doesn't realize her sexuality until wt, and then doesn't come to terms with it and accept herself until all stars. but i think she's cis
harold: transfem harold is canon. to me. idk their sexuality tho. i could see them as omni or pan tho.
trent: bisexual trent is so real guys. again, i personally think he's cis, but I could see transmasc trent
bridgette: i could see her as transfem, but I also could see her as cis. also she gives me pan vibes but I can also see her being straight. idrk
lindsay: shes pan. i just know it okay. i personally see her as cis, but again, i could see transfem lindsay. or transmasc lindsay.
DJ: cis, aroace. he's just a really sweet guy
geoff: cis, bisexual. i just know it okay
leshawna: cis, bisexual. i just. i just know it okay
duncan: cis bisexual. he'll call you a slur tho
heather: transfem lesbian. trust me guys. i could also see her being ace tho
gwen: transfem bi. i just know
owen: cis bi. he is canonically bi btw. he had a crush on justin. it was played as a joke but. that's just what happened
blaineley: i could see her as straight or queer honestly. i personally think she's cishet.
sierra: transfem. for sure. and i think she's a lesbian with comphet. just like heather and courtney.
alejandro: I think he's cis, but i could see him being trans. also he's bi. trust me. but i mean i could see him being gay. it's plausible.
staci: she doesn't have enough screen time for me to tell. she has like. ten minutes total. but shes trans
dakota: transfem pansexual. i just know it okay
B: i think they're nb, or at the least a trans man. i mean. his deadname is a traditionally feminine name.. it lines up. they're not cis i can tell you that much. anyway i think he's aroace
dawn: genderqueer panromantic ace. just trust me okay
sam: he gives me cishet vibes, but also i could easily see him being bi or pan.
Brick: i feel like he's cis but I also like the idea of him experimenting with gender nonconformity. and as much as i like jo x brick as a ship, i also think brick is probably gay. or bi with a heavy male preference
anne maria: transfem anne maria is canon. to me. anyway she's very much bi.
mike: i feel like he's cis but i could see him as trans, and i think he's pan. i'm also treating his alters like separate characters, though i know very little about multiple personality disorder, so idk if that's exactly how that works (feel free to correct me in replies)
vito: i hc him to be cis but idk. also he's pan. if vito finds you hot, it doesn't matter what you've got going on.
Svetlana: transfem lesbian. trust me okay
chester: cishet ally.
mal: look i like the queer hcs for mal. y'all are so real for that. but i think he's cishet and homophobic and transphobic
manitoba: trans manitoba is real. to me. also he's pan. trust me y'all
jo: trans butch lesbian
scott: cis gay man
zoey: she could be either cis or trans. i think she's transfem. and also she's pan. i don't think an explanation is necessary
cameron: she was very sheltered, so i doubt she would have been exposed to LGBTQ+ stuff so she wouldn't know it at first.. but I think cam would be transfem. bc i saw a post where someone said that it would be funny if cameron realized she was trans because lightning kept calling her a "girl" and that was her awakening lol. anyway she's ace
lightning: cis gay man
beardo: he gets like ten minutes of screen time and he doesn't really talk.. cis bi
leonard: cis gay. i just know it
amy: cishet +homo/transphobic (i'll explain in a minute)
rodney: he's cis, okay. and pan. i just know it
sammy: shes transfem lesbian. trust me. That's why Amy hates her sm. it lines up with real experiences that I know people have
ella: she's bi. i just know it. but i'm not sure what their gender situation is.. but she uses she/they pronouns
Topher: cis gay man. just look at him i mean
dave: cishet. undecided on his opinion of queer people. (he decides he's an ally when he finds out sky is queer but he then declares himself homophobic when she rejects him) he would call you a slur

the master is femme. (yes, missy, but not just missy.) I feel and believe so deeply in my soul that koschei, the master, all iterations, is femme. sexuality is irrelevant, whether she's gay or he's lesbian or they're ace etc. that timelord is femme!
obviously, missy is a femme fatale. elegant, beautiful, villainous woman. he's regenerated into a form where he's expected to be feminine, and he does what he does best--has fun with it. turns it into a PERFORMANCE. this isn't isolated to gomez' master, though. everything has always been about performance with the master. her villainy, from the start, has been a show for the doctor above all else. her schemes are designed with showmanship in mind, not efficiency. when the master steps into the room, you WILL look at her. she'll make sure of it. if you don't turn your head yourself, she'll turn it for you. she's going to ruin your life and you will watch and you will obey because she is your master and she is THE master. missy's appearance and behavior are as striking as ever--elegant, fanciful, dramatic--but this is true for all iterations. think back to delgado's master, how striking she was. how she performed. the master cares about her presentation, it's like, 80% of her villainy. she needs to stand out, it needs to be showy, unnecessary, and creative in its evil.
even simm's master, the painfully unstable, deluded, grandiose self that was resurrected starving & naked--who threw on the closest hoodie and eagerly tore apart a rotisserie chicken with her bare hands--took the time to do her eyeliner once she collected herself! found himself a nice suit, too. brought back that striking appearance. (I think it's important to note the difference between harold saxon's suit [a disguise] & the suit she wore for herself. saxon's suit is far less fashionable in my opinion.)

to the annoying people that called me homophobic and said i hate sunshines and rainbows for my last ask when i said calling straight ships yaoi/yuri is annoying
first of all, i'm queer, very much so, and not homophobic or transphobic at all. i promise you, i've worked on my internalized stuff. you don't know me.
i mostly sent the ask because i know the people doing that stuff kind of claim it's canon which ties into another ask i sent in that said to... just stop doing that. and just give into the fun of having hcs for the fuck of it and not thinking they will be canon. because to be totally honest with you, thinking two characters that barely had five minutes of screentime combined would ever be canon is... sad to say the least. and you can't call me homophobic for not thinking nichaxel would be canon.
and this isn't ship hate it's more like fandom hate i. this fandom is just exhausting. i think it's because of the influx of new fans. but it's been CRAZY oh my god. everyone is so immature and acts like it's their first fandom. even joining, like, the sanders sides fandom where they put tws on the characters would be better (which is still so fucking funny to me like "tw // c!logan, c!roman" first of all get your dsmp stan ass outta here..)
BUT i will say that the person that used that ask as a copypasta is funny as fuck. i laughed at the 'alpha male and a mysoginist kissing gay style'. i never thought i would read that sentence with my own two eyes but the TDI fandom opens up new possibilities for me every day.
so, to be perfectly clear: i am a multishipper. i have a lot of hcs that are waaay off from canon. i enjoy damien x ripper, ripper x chase, chase x zee, ripper x axel, axel x nichelle, bowie x raj, and now raj x bowie x wayne is growing on me. among other ships. i also love transfem harold, transmasc cody, non-binary zee, hell i've thought of my own crazy shit like transmasc emma (rr), transmasc heather, transfem justin etc. my problem with the ships and headcanons is when they are claimed to be canon, and annoyingly so, and when people get mad that they're not. which is insane. you can't expect every single ship or hc to be canon. you should've seen it coming that axel and nichelle wouldn't be together ever. you are 100% allowed to be upset that axel was put together with a man because it breaks your hc; it's happened to me dozens of times! but you can't call homophobia, especially when she hasn't shown attraction in girls, and neither has nichelle. and it's so okay to hc ripper as a transfem lesbian. i hc harold as that, and it's harmless! but you have to remember that in canon, they're not. and you can't claim they are. jokingly, sure; but you can't come on here and state in full seriousness that axel is still a lesbian because ripper is one too... and say it's canon. it's just not how it works.
TL;DR - i don't have a problem with "this straight ship is yaoi/yuri" or trans hcs, as i do this stuff myself, i only have a problem with it when it is repeated hundreds of times and claimed to be canon, which it's not.

What's your top Sonic ships and why? (you don't have to answer or answer publicly, I'm just being nosy! ❤️)
HI WONDER
oh boy ok so. i don't actually think about shipping all that much, admittedly. but if i had to list the ones i like the most... hough. this isn't a complete list, and i'm sure there's some i'm forgetting, but these are the ones that come to mind right off the bat.
Espilver. i am a huge fan. this would probably be my OTP, because look at them. their first interaction in Rivals 2 reads so much like Espio having his very first gay awakening and it's... it's really good. they're both awkward and adorable and they think the world of each other. i love it. i love them.
Whispangle, because... i mean. look at them also. they're lesbians, Harold. that being said i really dislike the behavior of a lot of Whispangle shippers who treat it as canon and call anyone who ships anything else homophobic. like... i have friends who have been treated very poorly for just not caring for this ship, and i think that's ridiculous. :(
Knuxouge, but i wouldn't ever really want them to be in a relationship canonically. i just really like the dynamic they have where Rouge flirts with Knuckles and Knuckles has no idea what to do about it. 10/10 i think they're silly
Sonaze. like... do not get me wrong, i love aroace Sonic. i love that headcanon. however i also love the dynamic he has with Blaze. i've seen some really cute Sonaze art. if i had to ship him with anybody, it'd be her for sure.
anyway these are just the ones i personally enjoy. i still reblog art of ships i'm not into as much because often the art itself is really good, and sometimes the dynamic depicted is cute. and also i just like having diversity in ships on my blog :) i think it's healthy to occasionally partake in ships you personally don't buy into. it builds your sense of community with the folks who do like those ships and i think that's important!

(Oh yeah, and in the eng ver, Diantha calls him by his first name) Part 2 is here... Sycamore & Grace, Trevor & Tierno, Tierno & Calem, Viola & Valerie, Korrina & Calem or Serena, Clemont & Shauna, Wulfric & his wife, Lysandre & Serena, Lysandre & Malva, Lysandre & Mable, Mable & Aliana, Bryony & Celosia, Malva & Diantha, Malva & Siebold (my fav), Siebold & Wikstrom, Looker & Malva, Malva & Xerosic, Looker & Xerosic, AZ & Floette (platonic ship) and Evelyn & Calem. I think that's it
hi anon sorry for not answering yesterday it was really hot and i was going thru it. putting a cut bc long
sycamore/grace: i get it but also no. conceptually good to make lysandre jealous though
trevor/tierno: YES VERY GOOD AND UNDERRATED IMO
tierno/calem: sure why not
viola/valerie: sure why not. she could take pics of her it would be cute
korrina/calem, korrina/serena: ehhh. i don't rly care
clemont/shauna: intriguing but no
wulfric/his wife: the real otp i think about the concept art that shows off his locket all the time. dad of the year i think
lysandre/serena: i have seen Some Shit . i feel like there are two camps for this which are the people who'd ship it like people shipped sycamore/serena as a self-insert thing and the people who were definitely umm. umm. you know. no thank you. i can't even get into her having a one-sided crush on him for the reasons i gave for sycamore/serena lol she should be Normal about making him Normal though that's valid
lysandre/malva: no. even disregarding the fact that i hc them as related i just don't like it
lysandre/mable: i like it unrequited on mable's part which is actually present in slawcs lol. i have Drawn stuff. she is a good candidate for "lysandre uses other people to convince himself he's not hot for augustine" as well but it feels cruel to her so i don't indulge it much …
mable/aliana: it's okay.
bryony/celosia: MY LESBIAN DAUGHTERS 2 THEY'RE GAY MARRIED HAROLD
malva/diantha: it's fine!! not my fave but i get it
malva/siebold: i legit never thought about it before LOL sure why not.
siebold/wikstrom: good shit!! i drew some for the same friend who shipped him with grant lol
looker/malva: sure why not i guess ? not very enthusiastic about it but not opposed either
malva/xerosic: i could get behind it. justice for lysandre/xerosic tho
looker/xerosic: i was actually legit surprised it has like 2 fics on ao3 LOL i feel like i remember it being more popular than that back then but i guess i was foolish. i am into them being emma's divorced dads conceptually. more people should ship xerosic in general let my guy get it
AZ&floette: YES. i love them. pokémon&trainer devotion is very dear to me in general. i enjoy writing about them, hopefully they can get more scenes in further slawcs installments
evelyn/calem: ok this one is random uhh sure. whatever

switching from leaving comments to sending an ask: yes i believe Daja is a lesbian! i *thiiiink* she has a girlfriend in one of the later books? but i only read the main two quartets and listened to Melting stones so i'm not sure. Lark and Rosethorn were confirmed gay (on twitter i think?) but it's never explicitly said in the books, only heavily hinted at
I've read the majority of Tamora Pierces tortall/circle books so if you ever wanna talk about them :eyes: just lmk
Oh yeah Lark and Rosethorn was the most obvious 'hint' I had back then 🤣 two ladies who live together who use most of their limited 'screen time' on hovering around each other and using polite double speak to describe their relationship? They're lesbians Harold. Okay maybe not lesbians idk if they're bi or something because again, not that far, but definitely picked up what was being put down.
Personally I think I would have liked if Pierce could have flat out stated in the books, but I also understand that she had some trouble getting into certain characters' heads due to lack of lived experience, and she wanted to make sure to do it right if she was going to add representation, and I can respect that. I know she said she really hesitated writing Briar for that reason, she knew how to write little girls growing into women but was afraid she'd do her little boy growing into a man an injustice.
I do really appreciate that she takes the time to listen to fans who gently guide her when/if she does fuck something up, and that she makes the effort to make her books enjoyable for all readers who want to read strong female-led stories.

I'm trying to remain open to trans people as a vulnerable group and reading the responses to JKR as an attempt to understand... Then I run into a sentence like "What chromosomes you have doesn’t determine how people interact with you, what sexism you face or who finds you attractive" and my THEY'RE LESBIANS HAROLD protective instinct kicks in. They've misunderstood what gender roles are so badly! They have such a disconnect from reality, how can anything reach them?
Thing is, the people screaming sexist insults, having meltdowns over children books or wanting gay people to be attracted to them aren't trans. I'm not pulling a no true Scotsman here, but there is an extreme minority of people, whose only way to live a somewhat normal life is to assume the social identity of the other sex. Among these people, historically mostly comprised of gay men, many survive by getting into prostitution. Needless to say, these people are extremely vulnerable, because they're judged and discriminated against because of their mental illness, that was entirely manufactured by a society that puts intense pressure on people who don't conform to the social roles of their sex. The addition of this and homophobia is dysphoria's root. The reason why the T was included into the LGBT is simply because transsexual people were usually understood to be gay.
I've always done my best to make sure people understand that I have nothing against trans-people, on the contrary. I think modern days trans-activism is damaging for them and won't bring them anything. What trans-people suffer from primarily is male violence and lack of opportunities due to discrimination. Why doesn't modern trans-activism care about that? Why doesn't it create refuges for victims, help them build a career, insist on the importance of accessible mental health care etc...? Why is it so in favor of prostitution when trans-people in prostitution are exploited and have such a low life expectancy?
That's because modern trans-activism isn't about them, it's about allowing cross-dressers to live their fantasies out in the open.

Okay but I'm just imagining the Lilytale girls realizing that for humans there's heteronormativity whereas they're used to monsters general "whatever floats your boat" approach and just being so confused but also delighted at the related gay culture memes on the surface and now I can't stop laughing?? ("Harold," + "#not to be a lesbian but oh my fucking god" + "let's go lesbians, let's go" + "girls she said she wants to marry me do u think she might have a crush on me??")
This is extremely accurate and you’d better bet they’d get up to speed on those memes. At first though just… for example, you’re out with Scarlet and Vellum maybe, and you just laugh at something you overhear and look at them, saying, “Harold,,, they’re lesbians”. Cue “MY NAME’S NOT HAROLD, AND ALSO, OBVIOUSLY THEY ARE???”
… there’s just countless shenanigans that would ensue. XD
Also, on this topic, to call myself out as the clueless sapphic I’ve been my entire life: I absolutely was one of those “didn’t realize how gay she was” youths (raised Catholic no less, Big Yikes & pour one out for how long it took me to realize it was an ‘option’ to like girls) -
… to the point that I literally said “Yeah, that’s totally cool, I’m down - I’m comfortable with my sexuality!” whennn my best friend in high school asked if I wanted to try a threesome makeout with her and her boyfriend.
The same friend, for the record, who a year previous was my first kiss/makeout.
At 2am, at a sleepover with just her and me.
Hidden in her dad’s office. With the lights out. And the literal, actual moonlight streaming through a window, and one candle lit bc we were Those Girls.
“Comfortable” indeed (⊙ヮ⊙|||)
Me, 16, making out with my best friend and thinking about how Soft and Nice girls were: Gee, I sure hope this doesn’t awaken anything in me

yeah good thing there's no such thing as Female Gays because they would probably want to go to a gay bar especially if there was no similar place that belonged to them

Dorothy was at the school before Ange, she got one look at Beato and Princess and immediately went Harold, they're lesbians, then there was the meeting between Ange and Princess (the we should be friends talk) and Harold, Ange's also a lesbian (also, I think that as great as a spy Ange is, she really sucks at seduction, so the whole time Dorothy is thinking "wtf? she never- oh!") later on they get Chise and by now Dorothy is sure Princess is some kind of lesbian magnet (she's just a bit jealous)
“Hey Princess have you ever noticed that there’s always girls around you?” “what’s your point Dorothy?” “I mean like a certain kind of girl Princess, a certain flavor, a rainbow pack of flavors” “I don’t follow” Princess is fucking with her, she definitely follows. Also yes Ange is the absolute worst at seduction and she will forever be confused as to what Princess see’s in that weird lizard lady.
Like everyone is always trying to romance that Princess in some shape, way or form. Beato thinks she being discrete, she is not. Chise doesn’t even know what romance is and somehow she’s doing it subconsciously. And of course you have Ange who is just smitten. But then like you have Princess who acts like she’s totally unaffected and has no idea what’s going on but Dorothy knows dammit she can see how gay and in love with this whole situation she is cause what gay girl doesn’t want to be surrounded by other cute gay girls all day, not a single one Harold, not a one.

When it comes to gay relationships, we really are oblivious most of the time. Personally it just doesn't occur to me till someone is like "they're lesbians harold" and then I'm like "oh right, yes, obvs." Idk tho I think about this a lot when I'm creating LGBTQ characters in my fictional worlds. Like generally speaking I approach romance in stories as "this is a thing that occurs in the world, but it's one thing among many, and even if this character is a prostitute or whatever it's just one thing that they are". Its hard for me, someone outside of your culture, to know how to make sure you know you're part of the story without doing the fictional equivalent of having them all run around dressed in their flags. But also because I know how oblivious we straights are so like I need it to be obvious enough to smack straits over the head but like not insulting.
It’s all well and good to say “something that is heavily queer coded with heavy romantic subtext that would 100% be considered romantic if it was a straight couple might not be queerbaiting, but it doesn’t count as representation because straight people can still deny it’s romantic” but like.
I’ve had ACTUAL REAL LIFE PEOPLE look at me and my ACTUAL REAL LIFE GIRLFRIEND (now wife) holding hands and kissing and introducing each other as partners or girlfriends and been SURPRISED when I said we were engaged, because they thought we were “just really good friends”.
I don’t think we should judge our representation by what STRAIGHT PEOPLE recognize as queer, do you?
