hotd au where rhaenyra/harwin/laenor are stuck in a timeloop that starts after luke's birth and ends when they're dead and canon is actually their third attempt and the three of them wake back up in the red keep and rhae is just like-
fuck it. we're going on holiday to essos. laenor, you're going to seduce daemon. i'll seduce laena. harwin will easily seduce them both. we'll bring them back and make sure laena doesn't die in childbed and then maybe they'll hesitate to crown my brother with so many adult dragonriders supporting my claim
and if that doesn't work then next time we'll just move out there permantly
yes laenor your mother and father can visit. no my father cannot

[taps microphone and gets in way too close] I actually like S17+ Project Runway more than S1-10.
(S11-15 is... decent. But imo saying that the Siriano seasons are worse than 1-10 is just the nostalgia talking lmao.)
please don't argue with me I'm just here to complain about Popular Opinions I Disagree With

vince doesn't often have repeated booty calls, just typically one-night stands
do not contact him after that do not pass go do not collect $200
he basically gets what he wants out of someone in one night (trust me; the amount of planning that goes into the evening means he utilizes his time properly insanely). there's no point beating a dead horse after that bye
when i say he's had . . . "relationships" in the past, that basically just means "someone he's boned more than once so i guess this counts as some kind of relationship" and with vince, that's the closest anyone's ever gotten to being "special"
what a dish, what a doll 。^‿^。

what do you think was the biggest culture shock for thoma when he came to inazuma? -- @milkstore
[Character Analysis Ask Meme]
What do you think was the biggest culture shock when Thoma came to Inazuma?
Honestly, I think the biggest culture shock Thoma had upon coming to Inazuma was, well, the culture. It’s mentioned multiple times in his lore that he came from a very carefree and happy atmosphere, which doesn’t come as much of a surprise to us seeing how Mondstadtans are in general. However, Inazumans are not like that. The majority of them are not outgoing. There’s an increased level of pride and a sense of duty.  While Thoma is generally liked, his lore does state that not everyone is his fan. He was the subject of strange looks and gossip. In his hangout, some people see him as the kind of person that schmoozes his way through life. He’s even seen as a threat to the samurai spirit.  The culture shock for Thoma would be realizing that the way he brought up isn’t necessarily culturally acceptable in every place. His friendliness, though good in Mondstadt, is more of a source of distrust in Inazuma. I have no doubt that probably during his first few years in Inazuma, he had to make the decision whether to stick true to his Mondstadt roots or to change himself to become more like his Inazuman heritage.

All of your "fun facts" are either outright brags, kind of weird and personal, or just kind of boring. That's why people don't like doing it.
I mean, I'm sorry you don't like sharing fun facts about yourself, that sucks esp when "fun facts" are a pretty common thing when getting to know people in a group setting.
IMO, the point of a "fun fact" is to help people get to know you a bit and to share something memorable about yourself so you stand out when getting to know a bunch of ppl at once. Sharing something weird or impressive is a good way to accomplish that.
I'm also confused about your logic here. So you're not allowed to say something cool/an accomplishment (that's bragging), you're not allowed to talk about your family (your # of siblings is apparently uncomfortably personal), god forbid you say something weird, and you can't say something normal because that's, apparently, boring. What exactly IS an acceptable thing to say? Kind of sounds like there's no correct answer.
Honestly, if someone hears me share a fun fact in a group setting and ends up thinking I'm weird/full of myself: cool. we've immediately established that we don't vibe. we don't have to awkwardly discover that 10 minutes into a conversation that's going increasingly downhill. we know our personalities clash and we've saved ourselves time. you don't have to vibe with everyone.
Personally, I'm not sitting around analyzing everyone's fun facts. I'll probably forget them in 10 seconds unless they're particularly cool/strange/unexpected. The point is just to get people talking and give them a chance to make an initial impression in a room full of strangers. Unless you say something wildly inappropriate, the worst case scenario is that you're forgettable, or people don't immediately vibe with 0.001% of your life. Pretty low stakes.
I don't know if I've ever initiated fun facts in a group setting, and it's certainly not a hill I care about dying on, but I do think it's pretty wild that you hate them so much that you felt compelled to tell me that mine suck. But, much like a fun fact, this short interaction gave us the opportunity to establish an initial impression of you: you're kind of rude!
Best of luck navigating the dreaded "fun facts" conversation in your future life. Hope you make a better first impression next time, lest strangers think of you unflatteringly for even a single moment.
#truly it is not that deep if your fact is boring#everyone will just forget 10 seconds later or think you're boring for a sec. ok.#if you're so afraid to say something interesting or unique for fear of being judged then feel free to tell us you have a dog#personally i am not looking for opportunities to think ill of others and am not lying in wait to form a negative opinion of them#based off of a single sentence they share about their life#i'm mostly just hoping someone says something that i can start a conversation with them about later#if you don't...ok. i'll have plenty of opportunities to get to know you better in whatever setting we're in. at least i feel introduced now#personally i am not super concerned about what other ppl think of me and am not analyzing the myriad of ways they might judge my personalit#i'm just being me and if that's not for you that's fine. we don't have to be besties.#now you have a quick snapshot of who *me* is at least and we can move on with our lives#shrug emoji#again i'm not here to say fun facts are the Best Icebreaker Ever#i'm just saying they're a fact of life so you should probably figure out a standard response#if you have nothing unique or interesting about yourself to share with strangers just share something boring#and try to listen for something to talk to someone else about later#but i just think it's sad to live your life in such fear of being judged that you can't find a single acceptable thing to share abt yoursel#you'll have time to make a 2nd impression. and a 3rd. and a 4th. don't get so hung up on the first.#asks#anon#anonymous#fun facts

(this is a ramble and isn't complimentary, so if you're in this tag purely for positive stuff, please swerve around this post; you have been warned, so pls don't add negativity to this post either, thanks)
Just finished hmc (book) and i have so many conflicting thoughts about it. Like it was obviously very well written in terms of the worldbuilding and the characters and the plot but then with the romance it felt,,, so odd to me.
Maybe it's the fact that it's decades old, but it has that feeling of vagueness that classics and stuff often do, where I don't feel at all invested because it all feels surface level. Like Sophie and Howl clearly have a connection, but I felt like it was never explored in a way that tugged at my heart strings, it was more like they had the grounds for friendship and then bippity boppity they held hands and were getting married.
Which gets me to another thing- this felt very much like someone had taken a very interesting queer character and put them in a very heteronormative romance plot??? Like howl has such major queer vibes, but then he interacts with sophie and vice versa like they're the protags of every heteronormative straight romance book (if there weren't even making out to keep your attention on SOMETHING), and it just feels like they were done dirty even tho they are as the author intended them to be and saw them as.
Idk just... They're such interesting characters and I would have loved to see their love story if it weren't trapped in a heteronormative cage.
The rest of the story is just so incredibly fun and engaging that whenever this stuff popped up and they were forced to play into these roles it felt jarring and left me at the end wondering if I'd just ruined the experience I knew from the ghibli movie and wasted hours just to end up feeling neutral about the story.

I spun the wheel and got Allir Sandvik! \o/
The funniest moment with Allir is when their polycule found out they'd birthed a child.
They gave their daughter up for adoption because they realised they wouldn't be a good parent, and she's in Sharlayan, 8 years old as of Endwalker. When her parents saw Allir, they offered the chance for Allir to meet their daughter. And they turned it down, citing that they gave her up for good reasons and those reasons haven't changed and they didn't want to cause any confusion or upset.
And then returned to the Baldesion Annex where G'raha asked who they'd just been talking to.
And they go "Oh, those were the Parents of my kid."
Cue three voices with the same "They're WHAT!?" from G'raha, Alisaie and Alphinaud. Allir still chuckles when reminded of it.

carlos sainz being hopelessly in love: a compilation
Tumblr media
GIF by sainzprix
summary: carlos sainz can't help but talk about his girlfriend all the time, fans make compilation videos about it
folkie radio: compilation blurbs are back! honestly i have so much fun doing these and i was dying to do it for carlitossss, hope you enjoy!
MASTERLIST | MY PATREON
Carlos Sainz might be known as Formula 1's Smooth Operator, but there's one thing that makes him completely lose his cool: his girlfriend.
While most drivers keep their private lives under wraps, Carlos can't seem to help himself from turning into a lovesick puppy whenever she is mentioned. His teammates often tease him about how his usual composed demeanor melts away at the mere sight of her.
Fan compilations began flooding social media, showing every endearing moment of Carlos being completely smitten. The most popular one, titled "Carlos Sainz Being Hopelessly In Love: A Compilation," gained millions of views across platforms.
The video opens with Carlos walking to the Ferrari garage during media day. "Favorite meal after a race?" the social media guy asks for the team's instagram stories.
"Well, my girlfriend makes this amazing risotto," Carlos grins, adjusting his Ferrari cap, "I used to prefer paella but now… don't tell my mother, but her risotto is unbeatable."
In another clip, Carlos is doing a Ferrari team challenge, asked about his most used emoji.
"The chili emoji," Carlos laughs, "Because that's what I call my girlfriend. My little chili. She's small but spicy."
During a post-race interview after a podium finish: "This one's special because my girlfriend is here today. She couldn't come to many races this season so having her here for a podium means everything."
Another clip shows Carlos arriving at the paddock, his girlfriend walking slightly behind him. A fan calls out asking for a photo, and Carlos immediately reaches back to take her hand, pulling her into the frame with him.
"No no," he says when she tries to step away, "You're part of the photo cariño."
The fans melted, getting the entire interaction on camera.
There's a moment captured by F1TV during a rain delay. Carlos is in the garage, and the camera catches him FaceTiming with his girlfriend who couldn't make it to that race.
"See? It's properly wet," he shows her the track, "But don't worry, I'll be careful. Yes, yes, I promise."
A clip from Ferrari's social media games shows Carlos doing a "Rate or Hate" segment. When shown a picture of breakfast in bed:
"Rate, obviously. My girlfriend makes the best breakfast," he pauses, "Actually, she's going to watch this and know I'm lying. I make breakfast most mornings because she's terrible at waking up early. But she makes great coffee once she's actually awake."
"Mate, don't roast her like that," Charles laughed from beside him.
"She loves me, she doesn't mind." Carlos shrugged
There's footage from a fan in Monaco, catching Carlos and his girl walking their dogs. They don't notice they're being filmed, and Carlos is gesturing animatedly while she laughs, reaching up to wipe something from his face. The natural, unguarded moment became a fan favorite.
During another Ferrari social media video, Carlos is asked about his most played song.
"Oh no," he laughs, "My girlfriend's going to kill me but it's that Taylor Swift song she keeps playing. It's been stuck in my head for weeks. She converted me into a Swiftie, I can't believe it."
A paddock moment caught on camera shows her helping Carlos with his sunscreen before a hot race.
"I burn easily!" Carlos defends when Charles teases him, "She's is just taking care of me. Unlike some teammates…"
During a radio interview, Carlos is asked about living in Monaco.
"The best part is having my girlfriend there," he says, "She's made our house a home. Though she insists on having plants everywhere. I think we have about fifty now? She names them all too."
A casual moment caught by Sky Sports shows Carlos talking to his trainer between sessions. His girlfriend appears with his water bottle, and without interrupting his conversation, Carlos automatically lifts his arm so she can fit against his side.
During a Ferrari team challenge about "Who knows Carlos better?", Charles vs his girlfriend:
"His biggest fear?" the interviewer asks.
"Spiders," she answers immediately.
"That was supposed to be a secret!" Carlos protests.
"Mi amor, everyone knows since you made me catch that spider in the motorhome while you stood on a chair."
There's a sweet moment from Carlos' birthday celebration at a race weekend. The Ferrari team surprises him with a cake, and the camera catches his girlfriend helping him blow out the candles.
"What did you wish for?" someone asks.
"I already have everything I need," Carlos responds, his arm around her.
The compilation includes a clip where Carlos is doing simulator work, completely focused, until his girlfriend brings him coffee. Without taking his eyes off the screen, he reaches for her hand and kisses it in thanks.
One of the most shared clips shows Carlos after a difficult race where he DNF'd. He's clearly frustrated in the garage, but the camera catches his girlfriend quietly approaching him. She doesn't say anything, just takes his hand, and you can see his shoulders immediately relax.
The final clip shows Carlos at a racing podcast, responding to a question about handling public attention as a couple.
"We try to keep things private, but it's natural to want to share your happiness sometimes. She understands this world, she supports me unconditionally, and that makes everything easier. Though she does make fun of me when I take too long choosing my race day outfit."
The compilation ends with text reading: "Find someone who's hopelessly in love with you as Carlos is with his girlfriend."

Well, he found he was at least comforted by one thing: even someone of van Zieks’s nobility wasn’t entirely positive of the reason behind an ownership of lavish but nevertheless abandoned estates. (So, then . . . the inquiry on Ryunosuke’s part wasn’t completely uncalled for; though, he silently mused he’d likely get a few upturned noses and scoffs from most anyone else, had he presented the same thing.) While van Zieks made an attempt to “justify” it, Ryunosuke listened, rapt despite everything, and he felt his head slowly cant sideways with the occasional lilt of the carriage. It wasn’t until the man confessed his own negligence to sell them—clearly pained by the thought—that Ryunosuke straightened again.
If he could glean one thing from this, it was that those aforementioned places held memories. And, far more importantly, Ryunosuke could therefore understand. He didn’t need to press further. No, he didn’t want to—at the very least not when van Zieks seemed content setting it aside. By the end of it, all he could do was hum a wordless acceptance. (If he just so happened to make a silent promise to both himself and van Zieks about creating new memories for the both of them . . . ? That was neither here nor there.)
What caught his attention next might not have been fully intentional on his company’s side, but as van Zieks spoke of Surrey, Ryunosuke tracked the real sentiment threaded beneath his words: You would enjoy . . . He expressed this all no less casually than anything else—as if he hadn’t just made it wholly obvious how attuned he’d become to Ryunosuke’s tastes, how he could so easily infer what would bring him joy. And while it could be argued that perhaps such an understanding came from Ryunosuke being an open book in that regard, some part of himself was much happier seeing it under a more intimate light. By the time an invitation was extended—first to him personally, and then to his friends, as well—Ryunosuke finally realized he’d been smiling the entire time.
“I would love that.” But you’re already aware. He was tempted to say more, even poke a little fun by mentioning he’d have to bring along their favorite detective, but already—and surprising himself—Ryunosuke was passively scheming. After all, everyone was exceptionally busy these days (except Sholmes, of course, who specifically chose when to be busy and when not to be for the sake of his own agenda). “Good company” might not always be available at a time when Ryunosuke would want to visit, and so . . .
Tucked away for the future—
Tumblr media
He let out a soft laugh, then, van Zieks’s playful remark (delivered as matter-of-fact as ever) plucking at just the right strings. With a shake of his head, Ryunosuke momentarily pondered the man’s curiosities. He supposed, until now, he hadn’t fully realized just how secretive he had been about his own past—inadvertently, of course. Really, he ought to be ashamed after the amount of digging he’d done to unravel even a portion of van Zieks’s. . . . Fair enough.
“Could be that mine doesn’t present much to talk about,” Ryunosuke admitted, flippant at that fact: after all, he’d had enough drama simply being involved with this good company van Zieks mentioned. “Believe it or not, I never had any intention of becoming a lawyer; that all happened because of Kazuma. He’s always been particularly skilled at sweeping me up with him, no matter what or where.” His lips twitched somewhat, the makings of a smile again. “Before all of this, I was just an English student, and . . . not even really a good one, at that. I don’t really . . . Well, I didn’t have any family to speak of, at least until coming to London. Perhaps that’s one of the reasons I’ve chosen to stay.”
... the use of them? barok's brow knit deeply as he pondered the enquiry. ❛ I'm — not sure. As I said, I inherited them. As did Klint, from our father... he had always said that financial wealth was of little use to a man unless invested and diversified. Property was among one of his areas of expertise... and the expertise of any other man with the means of affording it, too. ❜
But the attempt at logic did not answer Naruhodo's question in the least.
❛ They were of use to us in the past, when on occasion we went holidaying. ❜ ... and sat empty the rest of the decade. Though he spoke truthfully, he nearly regretted saying it aloud; he could not have crafted a lamer excuse had he tried.
❛ ... I suppose there is little value in a home unoccupied. ❜ What else should a home be built for, after all?  ( To house a history already lived and left behind? To keep tender and close the memories of men long gone, just to mend the emptiness of a gaping heart? Memories woven from threads of a ghost who had, as Barok knows now, been so terribly misremembered...? Did such false memories warrant keeping? )  ❛ I did consider selling them, several times throughout the years. I never could get to doing it. Too much else to do then, and — perhaps letting go is more difficult than one can admit. ❜
Tumblr media
And what a painful admittance it is: that a man could cling so desperately to memories of his youthful naïvete. But he must. Cherished memories of being carried atop Klint's shoulders through the pebble beaches at Osborne, swinging his legs as he commandeered his loyal brother down the shore and into shallow waters until they had waded so deep that Klint swayed and nearly pitched Barok straight off of his shoulders; and of picking his way through their vineyards in Dorset with Klint at his side, turning the fruit in his palm and explaining with measured excitement to Barok the ripeness and sweetness that he might expect from a grape, or how he might gauge the health of a vineyard by the evenness of shoot growth and the number of leaves in a cluster... those had been among few things that had only just managed to keep Barok adrift throughout the years of tidal sorrow.
But there was no time for sorrow when he had company. He could not allow himself to tip back into misery, no matter how forgiving Naruhodo had been thus far.
❛ At the very least, you might give thought to exploring the countryside beyond the city. I can speak to the beauty of Surrey — from which my title ❜  Marquess of Surrey  ❛ was created — our home is not far from the village of Cranleigh. You would enjoy some of the shops. It won't be a simple task for you to come and go on your own, as there is no way from London by rail. But you would be welcome as a guest at my estate... along with good company, if you wish. ❜
It was only proper to extend the invitation to Naruhodo's friends and to trust the judgement of the defence... as he had in the darkest of times. Surely Sholmes' potential company could not be worse than those nights spent in a cramped cell. ( But he would welcome Miss Mikotoba and Sholmes' daughter, of course, with open arms. And if Sholmes must accompany his ward, then so be it. )
❛ I take it you have never pondered selling off your excess of homes, then. ❜ Humour executed drily as ever. But Naruhodo understood him well enough — exceptionally in fact — thus far. ❛ ... information about you is not forthcoming, Mr Naruhodo. You have done your share of investigating my past, with the considerable advantage of the wealth of information that my homeland has kept of me. Perhaps you would now consider evening the odds — ? ❜
