Ok I have gone through all available evidence and I have a prediction.
Look I'm ngl I am watching Arcane for Cait and Vi. I love the show overall but this ship is what I'm most here for, especially after I spent the last 3 years under the assumption that Mel was dead. Glad she isn't. Point is, I really want CaitVi/Violyn/Piltover's Finest to be handled well, and I pay a disproportionate amount of attention to what happens with these two.
After watching the first arc of season 2 the other day, I was trying really hard to ignore the ending to episode 3. I didn't like that Cait hit Vi in the stomach and abandoned her in a pit after being all classist at her, but I thought, this is Arcane. Arcane is the greatest fucking thing I've ever seen, of course they're gonna find a way to make this work. But that made me think of it as a puzzle. How could they possibly make this work?
Option one, Cait sucks now and she and Vi don't get back together. I don't think this makes sense, because of the brand. CaitVi is a popular ship that just about everybody likes. A huge amount of the hype for this season before the trailers came out was building up assurances that don't worry, CaitVi is happening and it's not gonna be ambiguous. Take this teaser from like two weeks after season 1 ended, a couple of Valentine's Day icons, and one million tweets from Amanda Overton. Why the fuck would they make this season be about Cait and Vi not working out? It simply doesn't make logical sense.
Ok, so we're starting from the assumption that Cait and Vi have a happy ending that makes people feel like they should be together, and continue to want to play as them in the games and buy merchandise. That means they either explicitly get back together, or it's so implied there isn't much of a difference. My money is on zero ambiguity. Vi is the main character and Cait is maybe #3 or #4. Ambiguity about their ending would just look like a weak writing choice and they didn't know what they're doing. The Arcane writers don't tend to go for wishy washy.
But here's the problem. Domestic violence is bad. It's about the fastest way to guarantee the majority of your audience doesn't think two characters should be together. It would take a herculean effort on Cait's part to make up for that and honestly I still wouldn't believe it. To me, there isn't any kind of act of service that makes up for hitting your partner. Not even ensuring the independence of the nation of Zaun. Add on top of that the over the top hurtful comments about Vi's blood and class. It makes her look very much like, deep down, she thinks of Vi as beneath her. If she meant those things, a relationship between them is impossible. (Not to mention how many teenaged girls I know are watching this, and I don't want them to think it's ever okay to be treated like that, even in a fantasy series.)
So my prediction is this. The only way to make a relationship between Cait and Vi viable again is to render those comments and the sentiment they carry meaningless. How do the writers do that? Imo it turns out later that Cait intentionally came up with cruel things to say to cut Vi loose. She realized that Vi would never be able to kill Jinx, and this new explosion will make the situation aboveground even worse, and Vi still won't be able to contribute to the hunt after this. Vi has no future as an enforcer against Jinx and will probably get treated like dogshit as a Zaunite, so Cait is "breaking her heart to save her", as Tvtropes would say. In Cait's mind, it's better if she's left down here in Zaun.
What evidence do I have for this? It fits Cait's characterization as a genius who thinks quickly and several steps ahead. It fits the tiny animation details we zero in on of her stiffening her trembling lips and furled eyebrows. It un-ruins the most popular canon relationship in League. It allows act 1 to end on massive shock value but roll it back later to show that Cait actually does love Vi, enough to let her go for her own good.
I'm not arguing this is the best possible solution but it's the one I think they're going to go with. Amanda Overton and some others have repeatedly said that CaitVi fans will be happy with the ending to Arcane. Everything about the show(the opening, Netflix Brazil's Twitter account, the story) points to them being the show's OTP except for this one scene. I think Cait intentionally cut Vi out of her life by pretending to be much crueler than she wanted to be, to protect her and, likely, as a form of self destruction.

Sometimes when I'm writing Lilith I have to stop and think about the fact that despite how long her character has been around, she's so rarely used and so wildly and arbitrarily recharacterized each and everytime she is, she doesn't really HAVE an existent long-running characterization. At least not so much as she has half a dozen wildly unrelated character traits haphazardly packed together in a tight enough huddle that they can all fit under her signature cloak and hood.
Not that her hood and cloak are iconic because of any particular narrative or character element, so as to be clear. Lil's pretty much associated with that look for no real reason other than: they gave her a cloak and hood in the 90s', because. Like. It was the 90s'. They kinda just...did stuff like that in the 90s'.
Look, the truth is for as much as a ton of us all throw 'it was the 90s' and 'what do you expect, we're talking about a comic from the 90s' and other variations of 'Man. LOL. Marvel and DC in the 90s, am I right guys?' every which way on any and every social media platform ever, as though like, that really does just sum it all up and yup, we sure did say something with that string of four words we put together there, all by ourselves....
Like, the thing about that is its one of those things you kinda just SAY for lack of any better way to put into words what it is you mean by that, even while knowing full well that there's like, pretty much NO chance that for any given 9 out of 10 other people you come across throwing similar phrases around twitter or tumblr.....like, they're more than likely not going to be picturing anything all THAT close to whatever first pops into YOUR head when you "It was the 90s" about a comic book and leave it at that.
Its really actually very hard to put into words what I'm getting at here, other than to just say....."comics in the 90s" is one of those utterly useless phrases that everyone says and yet doesn't actually mean anything at all because no two people actually mean the same thing when they say that and this is a thing that everyone who says that is very aware of......
But at the exact same time, "comics in the 90s" is one of the most accurate and easily understood and related to phrases that everyone says while knowing they don't actually have any idea what the other person is picturing but that doesn't matter because we still know that somehow, some sense of what we actually DO mean is making it across the great communication divide between brains and our wavelengths are syncing. We both nod. Yeah dude. You get it.
What does dude get? You don't actually know, even though you literally just said that dude got it and you were being SINCERE, you truly meant that you genuinely believed that on some level, in some sense, dude did still in fact get it. Even while at the exact same time you yourself haven't the slightest confidence that if some sci-fi gizmo were to beam down from Star Trek heaven or whatever and make it possible to pluck the precise thoughts and images your "comics in the 90s" conversation with Dude conjured in his mind and then put all that on screen alongside four other options....there was still like, a random one in five chance of you somehow picking the right one out of that lineup, and it honestly would have fuck all to do with any particular specifics that came up in your earlier conversation.
Comics in the 90s. It means absolutely nothing while somehow still communicating certain ideas and impressions and sentiments pretty clearly, but not clearly in the sense that any two people have anywhere close to an actual CLEAR idea of what someone else means, but still somehow clearly enough that like. You nod, appeased because Successful Communication was somehow still achieved even if in no form actually accepted or understood as actual useful or accurate communication.
So just so you know, if the phrase comics in the 90s or a 90s comic book doesn't actually mean anything to you because you werent reading comics then, and you havent read 90s comics at any point since then in a way that keeps books from that decade and that decade only lumped together in some kind of strange, awkward cohabitation space and identifies them all as being part of a shared set that's not really based on overlapping or similar characters or genres or themes or messages or settings or writers or premises or tropes, just.....Vibes. Vibes only....
Well. The one thing I can tell you about comics in the 90s and when people talk about comics from the 90s....is that one thing you're always gonna hear a lot of people say about a lot of different books and different narrative choices made within those books.....is just: Idk, really. It was just the 90s, y'know. They did stuff like that.
You will hear it offered up a lot in a way where context will reasonably lead you to conclude that the above explanation is being put forth as a likely explanation for why a specific character choice or narrative choice or editorial choice was made in a particular comic written at some point in the 90s.
You would be absolutely valid in feeling an urge to check for hidden cameras and for the host of some kind of internet prank show to pop out when you see people nod sagely in response to this proferred explanation as though they accept it as an actual explanation that actually did explain something somehow and that they feel that the initial question was in fact accurately or even adequately answered by this explanation.
Just know that you have not actually entered the Twilight Zone, and also, no one is intentionally trying to gaslight you. A conversation did happen there, an exchange of ideas and impressions was communicated, and as incomprehensible as that might probably seem a lot of the time, unfortunately its unlikely any participant of that conversation will be able to clarify further and actually break down what was communicated and how.
We genuinely, truly don't know, is the thing. When I say: "Lilith Clay's pivotal turning point from her earlier characterizations and depictions pre-90s to the mysteriously cloaked floating cipher figure she's existed as ever since the 90s occurred somewhere in the 90s, and this radical shift in how she was portrayed CAN be pointed out as a being a clear demarkation point between the two vastly different versions of Lilith, and cited as the point in time where this point here, this place in time here, this is when Lilith stopped being associated with the stuff she'd been previously associated with and brought to mind in the forms that she'd previously been illustrated in....."
Like all of that is pretty clear and self-evident enough.
But when I continue on from there to say:
"And I can point you to WHEN the change happened and show clear before and after evidence that proves that this is in fact where the seismic character shift occurred, I can even say if Lilith hadn't been used in the 90s and just gone into comic book Limbo and only brought back at some point after the 90s, there's a strong chance she would not have ever ended up as altered as she was by that decade, and she'd be a lot more visibly and narratively recognizable as the character she'd been pre-90s."
And this leads someone to ask the very understandably relevant followup question: "Okay so WHY did that big a change occur though? What were the reasons given for such a dramatic shift, what was said in the stories and by the characters and the writers to explain or justify why Lilith just one day started showing up to Superhero Meetings in ominous trying super hard to be Spooky and Mysterious Garb also I'm Omen now, call me Omen, Lilith is dead, long live the Omen, but not the creepy little kid from the movie because fuck that kid, I still hate kids, that part hasn't changed..."
This is when the communication breakdown occurs.
Because here is the point where all I can do is shrug and super helpfully inform you that I have absolutely no idea what most of the characters thought about the switch from Original Recipe Lilith to "So Apparently This is Still Lilith, Guys, Any Questions For Her? Seriously? Nobody?"
Like, nobody knows is the thing. No explanation was ever actually given in story. Nobody ever really treated this in story as noteworthy enough TO comment on even though the differences are night and day. Everyone just rolled with it and never stopped and at some point it just....became that thing where we were like oh okay, I see. Cool. Cool cool cool. This is just. New Lilith because Reasons and we're never actually going to get or hear or learn those reasons because like. There were never actually any real reasons and that's why no writers ever felt that these changes needed to be discussed or acknowledged within the pages of the comics either because well. That would imply that there actually WERE Reasons to be found somewhere, thereby insinuating that somebody should probably go and find out who knows what they are so they can share them with the class actually.
And thus, in the end, the literal only explanation I CAN ever offer for anyone who asks why Lilith went from who she was back in the 80s to who she's been ever since the 90s, what was the purpose, the point, did editorial mandate the character be revamped, was there a storyline all of that was originally meant TO lead into that just never happened, etc, etc, etc....
"Nope. Nothing like that. The answer to your question 'what the fuck was up with all the changes to Lilith in the 90s, what was the reason any of it happened in the first place' is as far as I or anyone else I know has ever been able to tell....is just....
"I mean, it was the 90s. Comics in the 90s kinda just.....did stuff like that and that's really the only way to say it. Lilith stopped being Lilith and became New Lilith and I would love to tell you that somewhere, someone has an actual reason for that or can speak to the thought process that put all of those changes into play and say whose idea it was and why they felt it was a good one, but like. Honestly? It was just the 90s. Like, the decade itself, or the anthropomorphized zeitgeist of 90s comics, lol. Its That Dude's fault, They did it. They killed Original Recipe Lilith. She's dead and we got this Other Lilith instead and it wasn't even because one of the many, MANY dramatically continuity-altering Crisis events happened, because this was nowhere near any of that and also that might actually make way too much sense and allow for a satisfactory explanation and there will be NONE of that here!"
But yeah. So that's what happened to Lilith. The 90s happened to her, it did it, like, the whole decade itself, and the absolutely, obnoxiously HILARIOUS part of it all is after all of that, ultimately the simplest way to ever answer the same question in the future would be to again just say "Idk, honestly. It was just the 90s, yknow?" and leave it at that.....
And no matter how little sense it might make if you're not in the iykyk portion of the audience for this part........tbh, most other fans I know who were reading comics in the 90s and have their own particular associations with that decade and its influence on comics, no matter what they are in contrast to my own or how much or how little overlap exists between our impressions...
I can say "The 90s happened," and shrug and for as little as that actually offers in terms of explanation, most 90s comics readers will just blink at that, take it at face value and go "Bummer. We lost some good ones that decade."
And that's the story of the non-answer for Why Is Lilith Like This Now Tho and how its actually just "The 90s did it" and for all that this is a nonsense answer that shouldn't convey anything because it doesn't actually say or explain anything, it still somehow happens to be not just the correct answer but the only answer, and most readers from them can hear that and think yeah that tracks. I get it.
And they do and I hate that because I AM NOT A FAN OF COMMUNICATION THAT DOESN'T ACTUALLY COMMUNICATE OR MAKE ANY SENSE ESPECIALLY IF DESPITE HOW MUCH I HATE THAT I STILL SOMEHOW END UP AGREEING THAT NO BUT IT DOES MAKE SENSE AND COMMUNICATE POINTS WELL. I CANT TELL YOU HOW OR WHY BUT IT DOES STILL WORK.
Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
Comics in the 90s, you have so much to answer for.
Like I genuinely hate everything about everything I just said in this post so fucking much, you have no idea.
Also I genuinely stand by everything I just said in this post. I know its ridiculous, and brain-breaking and makes no sense and I don't get it and neither should you. There's nothing to get. Its just also that it does make sense and I do get it and I get it if you don't get it but for those of you who do get it, like. Yeah, you get it.
If it helps at all, I can promise you that nobody is more annoyed about all of this than I am. It literally makes me want to fight the 90s. Like, the actual decade. I want to find it in like, idk, some appropriately weird liminal Twilight Space like idk a Denny's at 2 am on February 29th or what the fuck ever and just be like hey, The 90s, literally what the fuck. We need to talk. Why were you like that. Did you even TRY not being like that? Who hurt you?

I skipped and selected a ton of questions from the writer meme for you:
2, 3, 7, 12, 13, 14, 16/17, 25
2. Go to your AO3 “Works” page, to the sidebar with all the filters, and click the drop-down arrow for “Additional Tags.” What are your top 3-5 most used tags? Do you think they accurately represent your writing habits?
My additional tags are kind of a mess:
#1: Fanart <- not a fic tag #2: Fluff <- I thought this tag was overrepresented by my Fluff Bingo but actually, nope, it's accurate #3: Community: westerosorting <- just a tag I use to mark stuff I made for this community #4: Drabble <- dominated by old Disney works I archived last year #4: Missing Scene <- accurate tagging but boring
Tied for 6th are Meta (<- not a fic tag) and Character Study. I guess this is accurate (including that I am still more of an artist than a writer!). It's also interesting to me how many of these tags lean gen. Pining didn't even make it?!
3. What are some tropes or details that you think are very characteristic of your fics?
I kind of discussed this already but giving myself/the characters some closure on a very messy unresolved relationship in canon is pretty common. Other features of my fic include pining/getting together fic; punchy (abrupt?) endings; characters who have identity issues working out who they are (this is actually a special case of the first thing, where the "messy unresolved relationship" is between the character and themself).
Not sure about details. I do a lot of introspective fic, so my fic is pretty heavy on characters' attitudes and inner monologues/feelings.
7. Any worldbuilding you’re particularly proud of?
To be honest, I am terrible at worldbuilding and only do it when not doing it would leave a glaring hole in the story.
Probably the most worldbuilding I've had to do is in my Ambassador of Love and Peace fic, and the main thing I'm proud of is my headcanons of what life as a temple acolyte is like, plus various details I've filled in about the political situation in Eisenberg and Harena.
For Star Trek, the worldbuilding I'm most proud of is my Mirrorverse Ferengi headcanons, but I haven't published anything with that yet.
12. Are there any tropes you used to dislike but have grown on you?
I was having a lot of trouble with this question and the next one, but I thought of something: Slap-Slap-Kiss ("I hate you!" "Well, I hate you!" *characters passionately kiss*). I used to HATE this trope -- it was my least favorite 90s rom-com feature, easily in my top 3 worst tropes more generally, and I would include it in my Do Not Want (DNW) lists in exchanges. But ever since getting into Quodo, obviously I can't put it in my DNW list anymore because it's so core to Quodo, but I wonder if I have just mellowed out on the trope more generally?
The reason I used to hate it was because it was such lazy writing, where often people would collapse "I am attracted to you but there are these good reasons why I hate you and that makes things complicated" (which is a very legit source of tension and drama in a romance) into "ho ho these characters are sniping at each other from day 1 -- ~love at first sight~". Which is very WTF and also plays into all these misogynistic depictions of women where they need to be won over and no means yes and spitfire women are just asking to be tamed, etc. etc. Also, I just prefer ships where two people just really enjoy each other's company rather than are bickering all the time -- like, why would I want to watch people be in a relationship where they never have an unambiguously pleasant moment together? It's so depressing!
But Slap-Slap-Kiss works so well for Quodo (they are every 90s rom-com trope…), I think because their dynamic is meant to be comedic and it fits so well into their established characterization -- they're just kind of ridiculous enough to go from yelling at each other to kissing and not see anything weird about that -- and because they obviously enjoy the bickering and provocation aspects of the relationship too. It's possible I now can appreciate a bit more when sexual tension manifests itself as annoyance and yelling rather than just being baffled that anyone could get aroused when they're annoyed.
A similar thing happened with the tsundere character type. I used to just not get the appeal at all; tsundere characters were always my least favorite in media; etc. But I think my affection for Odo (who is a very pure tsundere type, at least when it comes to Quark) has kind of rubbed off on other tsunderes in fiction. I'm not sure -- results still inconclusive.
13. Are there any tropes you used to like but don’t anymore?
This one I still can't think of anything for. I think a lot of my tastes have stayed stable over time. I am very easy to please and like all sorts of trope-y fiction. Give me all the high school AUs and crack fic and There Was Only One Bed and identity porn and...
14. Are there any tropes you would only read if written by a trusted friend or writer?
Not really because I live dangerously. :P By that I mean for the most part, I will give any trope a try. And for tropes I'm not super into, I'm not sure it's the kind of situation where there are certain people I trust to handle it -- they're just not things I enjoy no matter how well-written or who's doing the writing.
That said, I am in theory interested in (for example) reading fic that delves into Odo and Mora's complicated relationship, but I have kind of learned the hard way to just ignore Odo+Mora-centric fic in the wild because so much of it contains Mora-bashing either in the summary/author notes or in the fic itself and I'm not really interested in that kind of story (in general, I don't like reading character- or ship-bashing stories). So that would be an example of a topic I would only check out if written by someone whose writing I trusted (for example, I would probably trust people who write in DW/AO3-based exchanges to handle it in a way I find interesting more than a person in the wild). So yeah, probably more generally, bashing fic or something adjacent to that isn't something I'd seek out, but would be willing to read if I knew that the writer really liked the characters they were writing about, even if the characters are flawed.
16. What’s an AU you would love to read (or have read and loved)?
This is hard because I love AUs so much and will gobble up anything. For Quodo... Read and loved: Soulmates AU, Fantasy AU. Would love to read: Hunger Games AU.
17. What highly specific AU do you want to read or write even though you might be the only person to appreciate it?
I don't have a highly specific one, but I have an angel and demon AU for Quodo and a superhero AU for Altdea/Rindea that I'd love someone else to write (I don't have the ideas and/or time).
25. What other websites or resources do you use most often when you write?
Probably a bit boring but in terms of websites, it's probably an online word counter when doing writing sprints (because the text editor I use most often doesn't come with one) and a thesaurus (because sometimes I struggle to find the word I'm thinking of, like, "What's the word that means X but has somewhat of a Y connotation," or whatever -- I'll look a nearby word up in the thesaurus until I find what I'm looking for). Wikipedia as a place to start for basic research. Fan wikis and Chakoteya.net for quick canon review.
Thanks for the ask! 😄
a collection of questions i, as a writer, would love to be asked !!!

Robin for the ask game!
ooo, one of my faves, yay!!
1. What do you like the most about them? this one is tough because there's so much i like about robin. i love how witty she is, but her snarkiness is balanced out by her moments of being earnestly tender and caring for her friends. i think her gay little salute is one of my favorite quirks she has, idk, i just love it
2. What's their sexuality? lesbian, obviously. honestly, seeing her coming out scene meant so much to me. that she could be such an interesting, well written character who was loved and also be a lesbian meant a lot to me.
3. Otp ship: Ronance. I feel like robin and nancy just *fit* well together. i've seen post after post about how robin is everything jonathan and steve haven't been for nancy and i LOVE those posts, i go feral for them. however, i feel like nancy is really good for robin, too. she doesn't get put off by robin's "hyperness" the way other characters (even steve) have been and i think nancy is one of the few people in hawkins that robin could have a serious connection with. they're both so intelligent and caring and i really do think the two of them would make an excellent couple. also their chemistry together is off the fucking charts
4. Notp ship: any time she's shipped with a man. i don't get why people insist on doing that. also, it's not necessarily a notp for me, but i don't really get rockie. vickie would need to be really fleshed out well and not just a copy of robin in season five for me to be truly happy with them ending up together
5. Favourite friendship: Steve Harrington :) stobin is so special to me in a way i cannot quite describe. i love their energy and the way they play off one another. they remind me a lot of my relationship with my best friend or with my brother. idk, i just think they're neat.
6. Would you date them? yeah. robin has a certain kind of charm and also seems like the type of person i could have a conversation with, you feel? like, we could spend time together and it would still be enjoyable and interesting. (i answered these out of order, but question 13 goes more into this, too)
7. If you were them for a day what would you do? hopefully not be fighting monsters lol. i think if i were robin for a day, i'd probably want to hang out with steve. i know her characterization tends to be overshadowed by her relationship with steve (ppl like to boil her down to steve's best friend and leave it at that), which i hate, but i genuinely do love the dynamic steve and robin have. i love seeing strong, supportive platonic relationships that are the, like, anchor for both characters. it's very special to me.
8. If you could change something about them what would it be? i would give her more screen time. that's honestly it. i think robin is played very well in the show, i love the way she's written. the only thing i'd change would to have her be in the show even more.
9. How do you think they smell like? i feel like robin smells warm, if that makes sense? maybe smokey, whiskey, that type of thing? or old paper. idk, i haven't really thought about it lol
10. If you had the chance to ask them only one question what would it be? i would ask robin what she thinks about life, like, in general. i feel like she would have some really good wisdom to give.
11. Do you think you have something in common with them? other than being gay? she seems like a big reader. one of her biggest supporters in hs was her english teacher (i was lucky to have a pretty big system of friends, but i did spend a lot of lunches with my favorite teacher). my go to when i'm getting to know people is to be either really awkward or sarcastic and snarky.
12. Do you ever wanted to slap them? Why? when she was suggesting steve and nancy get back together. girl, that is not a good option for anyone. i feel like robin being the one to initiate that conversation was really weird. especially since (in my personal opinion) you shouldn't be pushing your bestie to get back with his ex. there's a reason they broke up, even if they've both changed, that doesn't mean they're suddenly right for each other.
13. What would you do if they kiss you? what if i plead the fifth on this one?? i would definitely kiss her back. the reason i started watching stranger things was because my mom said (pretty much word for word) "there's a gay character that comes in about half way through and she is exactly your type. she's smart and witty and just matches your vibe exactly. you're going to be obsessed." and my mom was SO RIGHT, big shout out to her for looking out for me lol
again, thank you so much for the ask, i love talking abt my blorbos :)

It’s funny because your characterization of Remus in choices actually reminds me of grant’s character in ATYD (not that each of your works aren’t completely different and unique, of course, sorry if the comparison annoys you). It’s just something à la “doesn’t know their worth, has a high tolerance of bs they’re willing to put up with, love a brilliant person who can be a serious asshole every now and then” etc.
Hello lovely! That's actually really interesting to me (and the comparison doesn't bother me at all). I don't think I ever would have made that connection, though part of that might be because I never really got to the Grant heavy chapters in ATYD so I don't think I know his character very well. BUT part of why I find that comparison interesting is that I always feel like Remus in ATYD is actually just another version of Sirius, and so Wolfstar in that fic feels a bit like two Sirius's dating each other. Whereas part of the reason I think people like Grant and Remus so much is that they're more complimentary characters for each other. So it's interesting that you think Remus is kind of Grant like in Choices because I wonder if I always sort of thought of Grant as being more my idea of Remus. This is not meant as a criticism of atyd btw just like, a comparison of character types and tropes and how they fit together :)

Since it is one of my favourite fics (as in the ‘you hate me’ scene has rooted itself like a boabab in my mind as one of the most hurt/comfort things I’ve ever read) I am going to ask for lore about ‘The Weeping Siren’/‘Blodig Skog’.
P.S. I really enjoyed the lore about Stygian.
OKAY. so this is like the FIFTH request I’ve gotten for the Weeping Siren. SO. I finally managed to pump this all out. IT took LITERALLY 3+ hours. @stars-and-darkness asked for this as well as long with several anons.
If there is a scene I didn’t go over that you want me to, put the chapter number and the scene in my ask box and I’ll go over that as well.
Thank you for your interest <3
Here we GO.
LORE FOR THE WEEPING SIREN <- link to story
VERY LONG LORE.
The Weeping Siren has a Pinterest board , AND a Spotify playlist
the characterization of Sif and the Warriors at the beginning was based on a fic I read that I cannot find the name of, where the warriors were actively trying to gaslight Thor into thinking Loki a terrible person.
THIS FIC -- What the Woods Did Bring by GoodForBad -- and THIS FIC -- Over the Edge by j-mercuryuk -- were a HUGE basis for the plot of the Weeping Siren. I highly recommend reading them even if they're unfinished. FF.net has an app, my dears, and it is fantastic. No ads, you can download stories, and they keep a detailed history of every fic you read.
Yes, I am aware that the offical Norwegian translation of blood forest should be blodskog. Google translate told me bloody forest would be blodig skog, so that's kind of just what I went with.
Also the blodig skog means the bloody forest
originally Prince Tjan and his hearty crew were meant to be possessed by the Weeping Siren and take the Warriors and Loki to her. Things...didn't work out that way
This was the original first chapter outline, as you can see, it's VERY different from where the actual story started:  (highlighted where the fic starts now)
Tumblr media
font used for the story, finish date. I do not use Georgia anymore. You cannot convince me to upon pain of death, I hate it so much, lol.
Tumblr media
total page count in Google docs: 195 (probably closer to 220 because of how weird Georgia is, discounting the bonus chapter from Frigga's POV)
actual date I finished it, without edits or the bonus chapter from Frigga's POV.

October 4th, 2019.
CHAPTER ONE:
The story originally started with Prince Tjan arriving on Asgard. I hated it so much. I feel like I started this story in all the wrong places at least four or five times.
"Everyone knows that whatever blossoming romance between Loki and Princess Sigyn that had started when Alfheim came for its last peace treaty nearly a decade ago was squished when Loki smashed his fist into the High Princess's face for still undetermined reasons. Princess Sigyn, unlike the legendary patience she's famed for, had retaliated by tackling Loki to the floor."
^^^ I have no idea what this incident was.
---
"Loki is barely of age now, getting him killed or captured by the whispered creature of Vanaheim's forests is something Sif thought a mother would actively try to avoid."
^^ not even two pages in and we're already heavy on the foreshadowing. Lol. I can't remember if this was intentional or not, but I imagine so.
---
Tumblr media
I've had a few people point out to me how this doesn't make sense that Frigga's hair is blonde. She dyed it to fit in with Asgardian culture better.
---
Tumblr media
Thor has social skills. Thor knows when to keep his mouth shut. thor is a prince. Thor can keep his thoughts to himself until he's in the company of his friends. THor has --

Loki's opinions getting discarded or loudly talked over is a very common theme in this. Even by Thor.
CHAPTER TWO:
“ Sif wakes up stiff and in a foul mood. “ -- I mean let’s be honest with ourselves, she’s kind of in a foul mood for half the fic.
---
“Exaggeration, Loki does sleep, but in all their time spent together, Sif has seen him do it very little. He seems to find the challenge of running off of as few hours as possible exhilarating. Maybe he thinks himself above such meager things, she doesn't know, doesn't care.“
^^^ for the duration of this fic, Loki has bad nightmares. It causes a lot of sleep deprivation.

OH MY GOSH WHY AM I USING SO MANY ITALICS. STOP. STOOOOOP.

“The table is chipped around one edge, as if someone took a hard swing at it, but the rest has obviously been scrubbed down hundreds of times.”
^^direct reference to this scene in Elementary season 5, episode 10:

“...one of the legs was loose, but uh, I fixed [the table up]. Refinished it. You can hardly recognize it, can you?”
Tumblr media
“...in a seventy eight year old murder I was trying to solve.”
someone beat someone else’s head in with a knife, leaving chip marks.
If you guys are beginning to notice that Elementary is referenced a lot in my fics, you are right! I love this series so much.
---
“They aren't sitting together. Both their gazes are lifted up, hands still, and there's that gleam in their eyes that reminds her of last night. Sif realizes almost dully that it's not just Prince Tjan and his guard that carry that...thing about them.”
^^^ One thing that I never really found a place to explain and kind of disappeared half-way through the fic is that the Weeping Siren did enchantments on people. She would bend them to her will and this is why everyone seems out of it. She enchanted all of Ju into giving her what she wanted or looking the other way. Both of these people were parents of two of the missing children and they were enchanted to give their kids to the Weeping Siren.
---
“Well. That's good to know now. A warning before hand would have been better. She'd been half hoping that the curse was an exaggeration.“
Dude. I forgot how much Sif drives me absolutely bonkers. YOU DIDN’T EVEN ASK FOR LOKI TO TELL YOU THE BLODIG SKOG HAS ILL EFFECTS. WHY DO YOU JUST EXPECT--

“ The food tastes hot, as it always does on Vanaheim, and she bites at her lip, quietly longing for Asgard's familiar spices “
^^^ I based Vanaheim’s food off of Mexico’s and Asgard’s off of England. So what Sif is tasting is Any Flavor At All. Actually, I based a lot of Asgard off of England because it is funny to me.
The history of the nine realms can probably be described in this sentence: “Knock Knock, It’s Asgard.”
---
Tumblr media
I am pretty sure this was an accident that it doesn’t say “It takes almost ANOTHER full five minutes”, but I’m not going to fix that because it’s very funny.

^^^ the Weeping Siren’s enchantments. She was actually whispering to them.
---
“ Scared that a Frost Giant will jump out and eat you?" One of the men in the guard asks, and Sif flicks her gaze up to find him in the crowd. No one sticks out. Her cheeks flush some anyway. “
^^^ Vanaheim and Asgard, I feel, have very similar political views on things given that Frigga is from Vanaheim. This includes their view about Jotuns. However, in the Blodig Skog when Loki is taken by his aunt and uncle, given that they grew up about the same time as Frigga, they know that Jotuns aren’t evil which is why they didn’t care.
---
“ The Blodig Skog let them go. She doesn't know how she knows that, only that she does, and it unsettles her. “
“It took them days to find those tunnels. Thor wandered for months with madmen. The forest let them go. There's no other explanation. That wasn't them. “
“Thor shrugs. “My mother’s unrivaled persistence. my father’s tracking spells? Perhaps the Blodig Skog wanted to let you go.”
The Weeping Siren chpt 2,  The Blodig Skog chpt 2. The Weeping SIren chpt 8.
---
“ Loki hesitantly speaks up: "Prince Tjan, perhaps...we have had little success in our endeavours thus far to find the creature. I'm no stranger to sedir, if you would, perhaps, let me attempt a tracking spell, I could—"
Prince Tjan's drink smacks down on the tabletop, splashing mead over the rim. "Absolutely not! You'll get yourself killed like the other arrogant muttonheads who thought they could outdo the Blodig Skog's enchantments."
^^^ The reason they are so adamant against Loki using magic is, again, because they are enchanted by the Weeping Siren. She knows how effective using magic would be inside the Wood, so she does her best to not encourage that. If Loki had used a tracking spell to find the kids, he probably would have been successful.
Of course there is the initial “the forest drives all the sedier-weilders mad” thing, which WAS A THING when I wrote the first one, it’s just that in THIS INSTANCE it was the weeping siren trying to scare Loki isn’t stopping.
---
“‘So did they!’ Prince Tjan counters angrily, ‘I know the woods.’“
^^^ I know the woods, is the Weeping Siren directly speaking here. not Tjan. Wow I did a horrible job explaining this, with retrospect. I mean, it did kinda vanish away, but Tjan was absolutely possessed by this point.
---
"This has nothing to do with showing off, cousin."
Sif's eyebrow lifts slightly. "Isn't it always with you?"
Thor kicks her foot under the table, and Loki glances at her.
^^^ this is the only time Thor defends Loki in the story from the Warriors verbal attacks and that makes me sad. :/
---
Captain Yan leans forward, resting his clasped hands on the tabletop. "Tell me Master Fandral, how much do you know about tracking spells?"
Fandral's lip twists, "About as much as the next person. Once you've started you can't stop looking for the thing, unable to rest, unable to eat, yada-yada. Supposed to be one of the most difficult spells to master and used sparingly. Why? No, wait...are you really suggesting that every seidrmaster you've sent in there you've lost because they actually found the Weeping Siren?"
"We couldn't keep up with them." Captain Yan's jaw tightens. "Yes. We lost them, Master Fandral. Found the bodies of three of the five."
The numbers seem off. Sif remembers Captain Yan mentioning this a few days ago, but didn't he say something else?
what he said earlier: ( "Yes," Captain Yan assures, "but we've lost three sedirmasters to the Blodig Skog and killed two others. )
^^^
Okay. So. “The Blodig Skog killed two others.” What happened to all the sedirweilders in the fic the Blodig Skog is what happened here. That wasn't’ something I made up on the go.
Actually, Benar--he lost his protection spell and transformed into the dragon on accident.
BUT.
The REASON Loki knew that Yan and Tjan were lying about the sedirmasters is because guess what? TRACKING SPELLS DON’T ACTUALLY DO THIS. Loki knows that. The Weeping Siren knows this. THOR knows this.
THIS is why Thor was so quick agree with Tjan in kicking Loki off of the quest later in the scene. Not because Thor was being an a-hole and didn’t believe Loki, but because he was trying to protect him. He didn’t know what was up. If it was Tjan or if it was Loki, or if it was both of them. He thought maybe the Blodig Skog was affecting Loki because of the enchantment, but wasn’t completely sure.
He just wanted to keep Loki safe.
Loki didn’t know that, and assumed it was because Thor didn’t trust him.
---
Loki's head whips up to her, eyes heated. "Beg pardon?"
"You heard me perfectly." Sif promises, and then makes a disgusted noise as his expression doesn't flicker. Always so blank. How can he manage that for so long? Why does he?
^^ maybe, just a thought, because you torment him all the time for any other emotion?
---
The keeper of the inn goes pale, "Bar yourselves in the building! No one leaves until it's gone!"
the Weeping Siren YET AGAIN making it easier for her to kidnap the kid. Everyone stuffed inside one place? Super convenient.
---
Sif half expects Loki to free himself of the grip and move for the door—they don't have a lot of time—as Sif would have done, but Loki instead squats down in front of the woman and cups distressed mother's hand between both of his own. "Shh, woman, all will be well. We will find your daughter, I swear."
"Please," the woman gasps, "she's all I-I ha-have. Please."
"Dry your tears," Loki instructs, "Idrissa will be returned to you."
^^^
Despite all his frustrations and desire to strangle his party, Loki still takes the time to show this woman kindness. THIS is who Loki is, at his core.
---
The Weeping Siren grabs hold of the child's arm and the two vanish in a lure of blue-ish light.
^^^ I doubt any of you have noticed this, but I try to make a point to have magic colors line up with the infinity stones. If someone is doing mind magic its yellow, if they’re teleporting it’s blue, etc, etc. Just because I believe the Infinity Stones are a lot more important to MCU until Endgame.
---
Loki uses the clumsy response to someone hurting him right here (and all the time before this), when Loki says this to Sif in the Blodig Skog, she immediately knows someone did it to him and is unhappy.
"Brother, what happened to your face?" Thor questions, tipping his sibling's head up so he can stare at the bruise. Sif feels nothing regarding it. Maybe she will later, but right now there's only an all consuming numbness. (Loki deserved it.) Her hand hurts.
"I tripped." Loki mumbles.
Thor sighs, "Loki. Will you ever learn proper footing? You're always falling or smashing into things."
(^^^Loki is not a clumsy person.
This is from previous altercations with the Warriors, or their other peers, or even (on occasion) their parents.
Thor thinks Loki is clumsy.)
TWS chpt 2.
..
"He tripped, Lady Sif." One of the girls murmurs. "He's clumsy enough as it is without wet earth to help with that."
Loki digs his nails tighter. It's beginning to pinch skin, but the pain is a relief.
Sif doesn't laugh, but a few try for hesitant smiles that fall quickly. The warrior's back is so straight it looks nearly painful. Loki doesn't know whether to stop her, or watch. It's the strangest sensation to him to not have to defend himself.
TBS chpt 1
..
Also reminder Thor had no idea what was going on and would have destroyed them if he knew Sif just punched his brother:
Tumblr media
TBS chpt 6
---
“ Loki's gaze lifts to Thor's face, a flicker of something she can't place washing over his features. “
^^ Loki wanted Thor to notice the bruise looked like a fist.
He didn’t.
CHAPTER THREE:
"No." Prince Tjan doesn't bother to keep any irritation from his tone. "We're staying in the Blodig Skog from this point forward. That child is our biggest lead. We have an entirely new part of the forest to look at thanks to her. We can't waste time traveling to and from there anymore, we need to go deeper. Prepare your overnight packs, we leave in twenty minutes."
^^ The Weeping Siren decided that Loki was too much of a threat because he actually found her and has decided to kill him.
ALSO:
THIS CONVERSATION -- “ but I'd overheard my cousin and Captain Yan discussing a way to remove Loki." (chpt 9 thor to Sif) -- happened the previous night.
---
“Thor, and Loki enter the tavern. The two siblings look as if they've been awake for a long time, but Sif has her doubts about that.”
^^
Thor was up all night trying to figure out what to do about Tjan wanting to kill Loki. Loki was up all night trying not to have a panic attack.
---
“ Loki's face bares no signs of bruising, and Sif is both relieved and annoyed by that. “
^^ glamor.
---
“ Loki's single, brief attempt to use sedir to track the Weeping Siren fails because there's apparently "nothing to latch onto". “
^^ the weeping siren’s hovel blocks all magic except her’s. Like Wanda and Agatha’s ruins in WandaVision. This is why Loki couldn’t find her.
---
Tumblr media
^^ the weeping siren needs consent in order to possess someone and their name.
---
“But, as Sif suspected, their rations don't last past the third day. Well, "past" is a little too strong of a word, they're out before the evening meal. Prince Tjan has them come to a stop much earlier than normal and explains that they need to hunt, but someone needs to set up camp while they're gone.
And, thus leaves herself, Fandral, Volstagg, Hogun, and Loki in the clearing with the camping supplies as Prince Tjan, his guard, and Thor find food for the next few days. She's less than elated with this set up, but holds her tongue when Hogun kicks the back of her foot.“
^^^
AS THIS WAS HAPPENING, SO WAS THIS:
“"No." Thor shakes his head. "Just benching him permanently. All the distinct details are fuzzy now, but I wasn't happy with it. I confronted him in the woods, and he and his guard attacked me."
"But everyone...we saw the bodies. They weren't killed by Mjonlir or another weapon." Sif argues, "He couldn't have attacked you unless...you didn't fight back."
Thor smiles grimly. "I couldn't. The creature found us and bound me by her word. Tjan pierced me with a blade here," his fingers lift up to ghost over his chest. Over his heart. Or near it, anyway. Too close. "And I was too focused on that to do much else. When I awoke, only Prince Tjan and two others lived. The details of what happened to soldiers have yet to be discovered, and I can't remember anything. I took Prince Tjan and the other two as my captives and we wandered in the Blodig Skog for a month before finding Ju again."
AND THIS:
“ His leg begins to throb dully. Likely from the sparring session earlier, but he can't help but feel like it's mocking him. Remember, remember, it taunts, lest you dare think about forgetting. No. Never forgetting. The sensation of the Weeping Siren's sedir slinking beneath his skin as he writhed and then her wild grin as she clenched her fist and he felt the bone explode— “
(tbs chpt 2)
The Weeping Siren broke his leg so he couldn’t run away. She wanted Tjan to kill him. Thor was a little too stubborn for that.
---
Loki holds the older's stare for a long moment before his shoulders slump and he tugs his sibling's hand away from his mouth. "Fine. But come back."
Thor smirks patting Loki's shoulder. "When do I not?"
"You don't want me to answer that." Loki snips and takes a step back so Thor can mount his stallion.
This is the last time they see each other for 11 months. :/ And the funny thing about it is that IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE A PARRAEL because LOKI is the one who doesn’t come back later, NOT thor.
---
Tumblr media
^^^ This is where I started the story in the original draft. When i later planned out the fic, it got pushed back quite a bit.
---
"Who wants to play, children?" it whispers. Its voice is still the young females. "Oh, I do!"
You know how they always tell you to have the first line a character speaks be signifcant? Yeah. Well.
“No one wants to die alone either." The Weeping Siren's voice has changed to a nasally old woman's, and it's louder. Closer. Norns. "But alas…"
chpt 3 vs chpt 7
“ Sif's mind flashes back to the kitchen, standing in front of the counter and looking at the height measurements. Yei and Holland. The Weeping Siren's children of the womb. It's not a story for your ears. Bile rises in her throat as the pieces click in a horrid succession. The bones stare back at her, innocent of her thoughts.”
The Weeping Siren’s children died alone after playing when their father came to kill them.
CHAPTER FOUR:
“ Her shoes are missing, leaving her toes to face the cold in only socks. Her armor is also gone, leaving her in the loose shirt and pants underneath. It's cold. Something is wrapped around her left ankle, and an experimental wiggle of the foot reveals the cold metal of a chain. “
People are less likely to try and run away from a captor when they don’t have shoes.
ALSO yes, this is a direct reference to the Red Room and how they made the girls chain their wrists to the bed.
---
“ Sif's hands curl into fists. Her mouth opens without her consent, fully prepared for a rebuke, but Fandral beats her too it. "Hey!" his voice is hard. "Don't touch him!" “
None of the Warriors hate Loki. They tormented him, but after spending years and years with him, all of them grew fond in their own way. It just took something forcing them to swallow their egos for them to show it.
---
“ Loki is squatted in front of one of them, Idrissa, Sif recognizes after a moment.”
Loki promised Idrissa’s mother that he’d find her. So he did.
---
"Loki, let me. You're exhausted." Sif says and reaches up for the child, but Loki's grip tightens.
"And you were vomiting blood." His tone is acidic, "I'm capable of doing something without your help, my lady."
...
“ "Don't—" Sif starts and stops because correction doesn't matter. Loki is crying in pain. The Weeping Siren is making him cry because of pain. "What on the Nine do you think you're doing!?" “
..
“Sif snorts with disbelief, but clenches her fists. "You'll kill him. You are killing him. Aetheitin isn't meant for long term use, everyone knows that. You're going to kill him, and I won't let you do that. He's my prince...”
^^^ Again, the Warriors don’t hate Loki.
Loki doesn’t know that.
---
It's barely past midday on day six since their capture when a loud clap of thunder ripples through the air. Sif pauses the knife she's been sawing back and forth across several stalks of wheat to look up at the sky and scowl.
^^^ Yes. This was Thor. This is when Thor found their abandoned camp and realized they were gone. He was panicking.
---
"Let me take it." Loki interrupts, and the room goes quiet. Sif lifts her wide eyes from her shield-brother to Loki, wondering if she heard that right. "Let me take it," Loki repeats, voice filled with more conviction. "Allow him the rest, and I will take whatever is needed so he can."
^^ the punishment was hallucinatory drugs. When they came off the high, which was intended to be torment, the Weeping Siren would help them feel better, thus creating a sort of dependency on her comfort. That is why they would start calling her mother afterwards. She wouldn’t let them sleep or eat, just take the drug and work. The only comfort they received was hers.
The well in TBS never existed. It was a hallucination on Loki’s part because he’s terrified of heights and suffocation.
("I can't." Loki repeats, stuffing his fingers into the crooks of his arms. "Mother will be cross with me.")
^^^ drug tracks
---
But how could Loki not be used to hugs? Sif doesn't know Queen Frigga awfully well, but she seems like the affectionate type. The one that would give out hugs often. Thor never stiffens when Sif draws him in for an embrace, and Loki never flinches away from Thor's frequent shoulder touches or pats on the back, so it's not like they've been touch starved by their parents.
...
Loki shrugs, sighing deeply and squeezes his eyes shut. "Don' know why you care so much. It's not...appropriate for the royal family to show physical affection to each other in public—Thor should know better, but he doesn't care, I think—and I rarely see my parents in private since I've gotten older. I have to make an audience to see my father privately, and Mother only has a few spare minutes at a time for talking. It's not a problem. Used to bother me. Doesn't now."
...
^Loki and Thor were, in my opinion, severely isolated as children. With how busy Frigga and Odin were running a realm, it’s more likely that they raised each other with their parents hovering figureheads that orbited them. I don’t think either of them had a very strong relationship with them. At least, not a proper parent-child relationship. more like a distant friend.
Loki has had few friends in his lifetime and Thor has been the only constant. Thor is the only person who touches Loki frequently, beyond an occasional embrace from his mother.
Loki doesn’t get hugged.
(It is my firm headcanon that the hug Loki got from Frigga after he killed Laufey was the first hug he got in years)
HENCE:
“ Alwa's saying nast'y things." Loki shakes his head, hair sticking to the sides of his face. "It hurts. You don't even like me, and I used to tr' really, really hard to mak' all of y'u, 'cause I don' know...how to have friends, but you always…it okay, I know it's my fault. Somethin' wrong with me, not you." “
CHAPTER 5:
"Alright, enough." The words seem to have been wrung from the Snake Prince, "You've done nothing but stare at me all day like I gave a swift kick to your favorite pet, so will you please explain what I've done wrong this time?"
^^ Loki really doesnt’ think anyone likes him unless they’re forced to, and even that he knows is an act.
----
"No. Shut up." Loki demands, "Because I shouldn't have had to. My silence should have had no effect on whether or not you would refrain from trying to treat me decently. Was your social status so important to you that you would completely disregard the fact that I—" Loki releases a heavy breath, cutting himself off mid sentence.
TWS chpt 5 vs TBS chpt 6
What!? Thor feels incredulous. "It does. I would never have let them hurt you if I knew!"
That draws out the startled, vindictive laughter. His brother takes a wobbly step forward, tears still falling. "I shouldn't," his brother presses out, "have to have told you. We've spent thousands of hours with them. Weeks at a time. But you didn't see, because you're never looking at me! Do you really think that they're the only ones to mock my titles?...”
You should never have to ask someone to treat you with basic human decency. And yet.
----
Sif grabs on his arm and yanks. The searing heat makes her vision dark around the edges and the only think she can focus on is the cold knives of his words digging into her chest. Loki flinches and his hands raised to block off his face. She barely hears the words by how low they're muttered. "At least I never hit you."
^^^
The thoughts Sif never voiced but definitely felt right here:
Oh yeah. You are a human. You are not some overlord meant to torment me. You are a human and you have a life outside of me and you are a human.
And i hurt you anyway. On purpose. For no reason.
I did that.
You didn’t force me to. I chose to.
---
They've been here for...for a while when the Weeping Siren drops into the cellar one morning with a rucksack swung over one shoulder. She drops something heavy on the ground and it lands with a loud thunk before she smiles happily. "Dearests, Mother has an errand she must take care of. I'll return in a few days. Remain here."
...
Thor's head tilts at that, curious. How? She was mad. "What do you mean?"
Benar's fingers smack impatiently on the book. "I mean that she spent a good majority of our lives keeping me from this ritual. She guarded the direct entrance to the tunnels, keeping the XÄŤn ZhÄŤ ChĂ from me. Now, now I can finally end the Blodig Skog without her making constant efforts to cease any progress."
So that's where they are, then. The tunnels beneath the Blodig Skog.
TWS chpt 6 vs TBS chpt 10
Part of this errand was to stop Benar from entering the caves.
CHAPTER SEVEN:
“It starts—and it ends—with soup.“
as all good things do.
---
"Today we celebrate the sixth year since I began to collect my family." The Weeping Siren announces and sits down in front of them, a glass in hand. Sif suspects it isn't full of anything stronger than acidic water, but she raises it like it's fine wine. "A toast. To our happiness proceeding onwards for many more years."
^^^
this is the day her children died. In her grief she got extremely drunk and rationalized taking Li home with her. Li was hurt and she intended to take him to a healer.
She didn’t.
This is why Li ( "This is my family." Li says in a hushed voice, "I don't know...I don't know how to live anywhere else. How can we leave Mother? I don't...I'm afraid, Sif, please.") doesn’t feel like he has anything else.
---
“Sif glances towards Loki's leg and inhales stiffly, swearing again. Norns, that's so much worse than she thought it was. The leg is deformed enough that Sif has her doubts bone isn't sticking out beneath the fabric. There's dried blood making the black fabric strangely reflective and flaky. She bites back bile and squeezes her eyes shut, trying to reassure herself that she's seen worse on the battlefield before.”
Thor broke his leg. Loki broke his. This is supposed to parallel each other.
---
“She...was just stabbed.
Oh.
That's really not ideal.”
I AM WHEEZING. WHAT ON EARTH?
---
“When they were claimed. (Is his hair shorter? He's favoring one leg, or is she imagining that?)”
^^^
First look at Thor’s permanent leg injury.
---
CHAPTER EIGHT:
Tumblr media
“Loki, brother of Thor.”
Loki’s importance is rooted in her mind now.
---
“Systra makes a clicking noise and sweeps her gaze up and down Sif, eyes tightening at the edges. "Come with me." She commands. A few months ago, Sif would have refused and stormed off, indignant. Now she only feels a heavy apprehension and follows after her older sister. Systra stops first to drop her bag off in her room and then leads Sif out of the house. She sits down on a bench hidden in the small corner of the property and Sif recognizes it from when they were little and closer.
Before Systra left.”
^^^
This was never explained explicitly in the text, but one of the HUGE reasons that Sif hated Loki was because of jealously. Her relationship with Systra is terrible and she wanted someone like Thor to protect her as she was struggling to become a Einherjar, but Systra didn’t care. Systra left her on her own to deal with the bullying and the tormenting because she thought Sif was being stupid.
Sif wanted a Thor for a sibling, so she got jealous that Loki did and it eventually turned into hatred.

They're sort of a fandom but Batfam!
Tumblr media
thanks guys!!! this got so long omg, I’m so sorry dsjkfhdskajh
my favorite female character: CASSANDRA MFING CAIN. She is simultaneously one of the most badass characters I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing about, while also being just……….so adorable. Like, I love that she can be the scariest and most competent Bat (she is absolutely 100000% the next Batman I do not take criticism) but also, she’s such a sweetheart. She really loves people (Steph and Duke especially so), she’s an amazing friend and sister, and she is just so authentically herself and does what she wants when she wants, and she works so hard for everything, and I just. Oh my god I love her so much.
my favorite male character: this is so difficult but I have to say Dick Grayson. I Must. He’s basically what started all of this!!! I mean yeah okay Bruce was first, but Robin/Dick is what made Batman interesting and was the first member of the batfam, the one that made it a real family. In addition to that, Dick is just??? So interesting?????? He was the first kid sidekick, he lead the Teen Titans teams, he’s always kind of existed in this place of being the lighthearted one with the Batfam, but the serious one in most other contexts. HE REBELLED FIRST. Nightwing is a fuck you to his dad!!!! I love that! Plus he’s beautiful and has some of the best love interests (I’m talking about Kory and Roy here folks). He’s imperfect and has such depth and I love him kdsjfhjkdshfah
my favorite book/season/etc: I actually really like all the stuff that comes after Bruce “dies”? Seeing them all struggle and fight with each other and everything is really interesting. I love Tim here especially, just bc he’s so fucked up and such a teenager. When characters seem to be having two totally different conversations are SO INTERESTING and that’s what was kind of happening here with Tim and Dick – Tim feels betrayed and hurt, Dick feels stressed and like Tim is ready to move on. And Damian is just an adorable little asshole ksdjfshkjhakjh
my favorite episode (if its a tv show) issue: look I’m a sucker for Dick & Jason feels and I really enjoyed their moments (however few there are) in NTT/Tales of The Teen Titans/etc. They’re pretty small but so cute – it’s really nice to see them trying to figure out how to be brothers!!
my favorite cast member: David Mazouz!!!! Perfect perfect perfect Bruce. I also did like Batfleck, more for the look of exhausted 40 year old man than the story/characterization, but David takes the cake. He does all the different facets of Bruce – traumatized child, obsessive teenager, Brucie the party animal, etc – so well, PLUS THEY HAVE THE SAME BIRTHDAY. It’s meant to be yall
my favorite ship: most of my Batfam ships are one batfam member/one non member (like Dickkory/Dickroy, Dinahbabs, Timkon, etc). the only one fully in the fam would be Bruce/Talia. When written correctly, they are so sweet and so tragic. The star crossed lovers trope has never looked so good as it does when its them.
a character I’d die defending: Damian!!!! Admittedly I do get annoyed by him,,,, a lot,,,,,, but really. He’s a child who’s been abused and manipulated and lied to. He was raised in such a dangerous, traumatic environment, and I fucking hate when people act like he’s always going to be the annoying, murderous brat he was when he was first taken away from that environment. He has to heal, and he IS healing. He loves animals so much, he learns to love Dick (and at least get along with the others), he makes friends, he doesn’t kill anymore. He is doing better. There’s no fucking way he ends up as cruel and cold-hearted as some people insist he will. If you don’t like him, just shut the fuck up
a character I just can’t sympathize with: Babs. It’s not that I can’t sympathize with her, it’s more that I just don’t like her lol. I find Batgirl!Babs really boring and regressive for literally everyone involved. The way Babs became Oracle was gross but it gave her such GROWTH and she got to be her own character as Oracle (and also tell people off for pitying her bc she’s in a wheelchair). Batgirl was passed on to Cass, who is both Asian and disabled rep, then to Steph, in a way that was much healthier for the Batgirls than how Robin was passed down. Babs being Oracle gives even more rep to disabled children/girls in wheelchairs, and she isn’t stuck in Gotham! She isn’t part of the Batfam, she’s a Bird of Prey!!!! So much more interesting!!!! Plus D*ckB*bs is boring as fuck and does a disservice to both of them. Let them grow and be their own people and stop making me see Batgirl!Babs alongside Robin!Damian. DC, that’s illegal!!!
a character I grew to love: Talia. I was sadly infected with the Grant Morrison bullshit when I first joined the fandom and I hated Talia. But I’ve read more comics and metas about her and I just. I LOVE HER. She is such a badass and I find her motives (when well written) to be really interesting!!! She’s loyal to her dad but wants the best for Damian, and does have genuine affection for Bruce and Jason. She’s not the heartless woman some people/writers make her out to be, she has compassion and drive. She doesn’t care what people think about her. I want to marry her sdkjhfjksah
my anti otp: Jason/Roy. In any context other than RHaTO, it makes no sense and does a disservice to both characters. Jason and Roy would not want to be together in most reboots of DC, because of the connection with Dick. Would you want to date your asshole older brother’s ex/best friend? Would you want to date your ex/best friend’s little brother? Would you like to date a man with that history who is also struggling with severe trauma/addiction issues (respectively) and doesn’t get help for it because of bad writing? Imagine Roy looking Dick in the face and saying “yeah, I’m fucking your little brother, who I sort of knew as a pre-teen”. In RHaTO, this is mostly fine bc Roy and Dick have no relationship at all, and Jason needs someone to take care of, and Roy is so incompetent that he fits that bill. But ANYWAYYYYY point is, I refuse to read fics with this ship in it thank you goodnight
send me a show/movie/fandom and I’ll answer these questions!!

OH MY GOSH JACKIE I ADORED THIS FIC
Tumblr media
i’ve actually read this the night before, and then i read it again last night, but i didn’t leave my text dump thoughts so i read it again 😵‍💫 i noticed that you said you thought this was your best fic yet and i was thinking the same as i was reading omfg like that ONE LINE “you’re insatiable, you realize, and here jihoon is, putting you on a diet.” that was so perfectly said and had so many layers to that in one line 🤧 the way you characterized both jihoon and the mc were so well done i just loved how i watched their relationship progress as well as the depth of even the side characters !! mina was hilarious omg and i love the little appearances of soonyoung (the wuthering heights soundcloud rap ??? i DIED + the time he called jihoon the old guy from Up i died again + somehow the way he texts mc is so FITTING), wonwoo (love Sad Poetry Boy™️), shua, and jeonghan <33 is must be some pattern of shua experiencing that good ol second-lead syndrome in your fics 😭
and the smut mannnn the smut was HOT and the little exchange about the choking !?@#?@? and jihoon following through in the next scene had me running LAPS omfg i loved how it was so obvious what he implied by saying how soonyoung had dance practice and that led to mc going over :’’) and the little flashback smut scenes in parentheses i loved them sm (and i think it was somehow hotter???)
and this scene is so tender and sweet :((( i might have fallen a little deeper in love with jihoon after this like his actions are just so cute <//3 it also rlly spoke volumes about their relationship and how it goes beyond simple friends with benefits
Tumblr media
anyways let me go back to the other svt members because i just want to praise your characterization. the little dialogues and exchanges between them just made them so much more three-dimensional. i DIED when soonyoung called jeonghan and cheol geezers when they're just a year older 😭 and then jeonghan’s smartass LMFAO i love a good matchmaker who unintentionally just kickstarts a complete other relationship
Tumblr media
YEAH AND MY HEART DID A THING WHEN JIHOON TOLD MC SHE COULD STAY when he told her he’d get her a toothbrush like <///3 yeah that’s .. every rule jihoon breaks makes my heart flutter just a little ,, and they're supposed to be HIS rules 🤨 ALSO HER DATE WITH JEONGHAN WAS SO FUNNY pls i want to argue with him about the edibility of pokemon and tbh i just need this entire paragraph documented for my own enjoyment bc god this is gold
Tumblr media
and goddamn jeonghan’s so foul for making her get his coffee 💀 but JOSHUA HONG <33 jackie when are we getting a shua fic
but omg the pain when mc’s cutting things off with jihoon :(( i could feel her frustration when jihoon just accepted it but also it was so clear he wasn't having it either 😞 like THIS PART my heart was physically aching bc i just wanted him to fight to keep her with him instead of going on that date with joshua (sorry shua)
and when jihoon comforted her mayhaps i cried 😔 the “Jihoon doesn’t comfort people. He’s not soft or tender in the way you are, not sentimental like you, he keeps his emotions tucked close to his chest. He comforts you clumsily, with hands unused to the actions, but he tries.” oh my goddd i felt so warm inside <//3
also i love how this stays true to a college au and actually incorporates issues that college students face like with mc’s major and hesitancy with her goal to become a doctor. and jihoon’s firm but understanding advice was so perfect AND ALSO THIS PART!!!
Tumblr media
and the absolute wash of relief i felt when jihoon confessed that he liked her too and i’m not sure if you meant to emphasize the “public” at the end but i felt like it tied everything together ♡ but anyways thank you for writing this jackie !! im such a big fan of your svt works and im very glad i stumbled upon this happy little haven of a blog 🌷

genres/themes: friends with benefits, college au, smut (minors do not interact!), fluff, angst, romance, it’s got a little bit of everything
warnings: typical college parties (alcohol), explicit sexual content (choking, oral sex, unprotected sex, mentions of light bondage, mentions of woozi as a hard dom, most of the sex is pretty vague though)
In which there’s two things you knew when you were entering this arrangement. One: Jihoon doesn’t like relationships. Two: You’re a damn fucking fool for Lee Jihoon.
The two of you are in a 24-hour diner. It’s long after midnight, but you’re always a little hungry after getting your guts rearranged, and Jihoon is deceptively kinky, so you’re really craving the comfort of salt and carbs tonight.
“I mean, if it’s an agreement that we sign, isn’t it a contract?” You pop another fry into your mouth.
Jihoon sighs. “Calling it a contract feels too serious. I want this to stay casual. That way, everything is easy and nobody gets hurt.”
He slides the napkin across the table to you and sets the ballpoint pen down next to it. Glancing down, you read the words written on the thin brown paper as you chew.
1. kissing okay - but can’t be soft or excessive 2. no staying the night 3. no pillow talk or cuddling 4. don’t acknowledge the arrangement in public 5. either party can end things at any time
And then there’s the last unspoken one, obvious enough that it doesn’t even need to be discussed. Don’t fall in love.

hey! i wanted to let you know that i think your cas/stages of grief meta was absolutely amazing. cas's story never really made sense to me, it always seemed so inconsistent, like they had no idea where they were going with it, and your meta is the first i've read that made me see some central theme in it after all. so kudos for that :) just out of curiosity, you have any idea where they're going with crowley? bc his story is another one that always felt the opposite of straightforward to me.
Whats your hope for Crowleys arc on this season?
Hi! Thank you so much for all that! I am the most awful person, because not only I’m like, two months late in answering this but I’m also going to bundle it up with an anon ask. Sorry, @andallthewildthingsroared!
Tumblr media
(I did write the overly long thing I promised you, though, so there’s that.)
I understand where you’re coming from - Crowley’s arc is sort of zigzaggy, but if you take away what was clearly bad characterization (such as that one-off threat to Sam complete with red eyes which never went anywhere), I sort of feel like we can know who Crowley is, and what he wants.
Background
So, just as a summary - we know he was a bastard, and that he had a stable enough relationship with his mother that he remembers her (not fondly), and that she up and left soon enough that it felt like she was abandoning him (eight is a bit soon to fend for yourself, even in the seventeenth century). We know he had a son, and since Gavin’s mother is never mentioned, I want to say unremarkable entity who died in childbirth? Because if this had been his great love, and if she’d survived long enough to be remembered by Gavin, I hope to God that would have been brought up in the narrative (come on). So, either Crowley didn’t give a damn about her, and got saddled with the kid for some reason, or he cared a lot and she died pretty early on and that’s possibly the reason he started being so awful to everybody (hello, John Winchester’s parallels). We also know he was a tailor, which, in those times, and for an orphan, implies either that Rowena used magic to help him out (unlikely for a number of reasons) or that he was actually a very smart, very talented kid who had to work his ass off during his apprenticeship, as was usual for the times. In this case, we’ve got someone whose life was out of his control from a very young age, and who knows what it’s like to be at a master’s whim.
Demon deal
Now, what doesn’t fit with this picture is the idea a kid like that would sell his soul for a longer dick, as Crowley boasted to have done (also, as amusing as it is, this would be a moot point by now, since Crowley’s in a different body). What I consider more likely is that Crowley’s current vessel - the literary agent in his late forties possibly all work and all play as that job often entails - tried to make a similar deal (and that would be a reason for Crowley to stick with the body afterwards; after all, we know he’s vain and likes to sleep around, so, vessel for vessel, why not go for a bigger dong?); as for Crowley himself, I really can’t guess what happened. Gavin remembers him as a useless drunkard, and he certainly had no riches to pass on - so much so, Gavin was forced to emigrate to the Colonies. What did Crowley gain, exactly, in exchange for his soul? An intriguing possibility is that, like Dean, he took the deal to save someone else - perhaps Gavin himself from some childhood fever - and became a drunk asshole out of blind panic the closer he got to the deadline. I like this explanation, because there was always this weird pull between Crowley and Dean, and this would go a long way towards explaining it; but, really, this is one of those things it’s useless to speculate about - either the show will tell us, or it won’t.
(Another possibility I like, but which would have come up by now, is that Rowena sold her kid’s soul to pay for her own magic - a plot bunny I explored here.)
Whatever his reasons, Crowley’s time in hell took this primal lack of control over his own life and made it a thousand times worse. We still don’t know, exactly, how demons are created, how long it takes, and who decides which eyes you’ll get, and which job you’ll do. This is, like, one of the 2000 things the show could get into instead of inventing new lore (I’m not complaining, though - S11 was magnificent, and S12 has been very good so far). What we do know is that the entire process is excruciatingly painful; that it distorts, or takes away, your human soul. If we think about other soulless creatures we’ve encountered, what Crowley is makes a lot of sense. It’s not about being evil, exactly; it’s more about a lack of caring and empathy. There are moments where Crowley actually reminds me of soulless!Sam - like when he pushed Dean into Cain’s arms just because it was convenient on the short term.
Crowley the crossroads demon
Becoming a demon is also the worst kind of punishment, we should assume, because it completely takes away your free will.
(This is not exactly true, since we’ve seen a lot of demons doing stuff on the side and betraying their masters left, right and centre - but I want to think those demons breaking ranks parallel the mess that’s going on in Heaven - that these are creatures that, under normal circumstances, ie, pre-Winchesters and pre-Apocalypse, functioned as mindless servants under a king. Like angels, demons can, theoretically, think for themselves, but I feel like they’re not designed to? Although, where the angels craved order - and orders - Crowley was hoping to get support by promising other demons ‘a say, a virgin and all the entrails they can eat’ - which means demons are perhaps not as happy as angels to give up their agency. And, well, it would make sense: they do not belong to a different species, after all. They used to be human.)
And so we’ve got the transformation from human!Crowley, indentured to some abusive master as a boy, to demon!Crowley, who’s got no choice but to follow his torturers around. Except, well, Crowley’s smart (too smart for his own good, probably) and ballsy and free will is something he cares about, very fucking much (and this is another tie to Dean). From what we know, it looks like Crowley schemed and schmoozed his way into acquiring enough weapons, knowledge, powers and secrets that he was almost part of the inner circle which was preparing for Lucifer’s return. And here is where his story gets interesting, because, to get Roman about it, “We rob the world, but he will rifle the deep. If the enemy be rich, Lucifer will be rapacious; if he be poor, Lucifer will lust for dominion; he will make a desert and call it peace.”
Crowley and the Winchesters
I don’t remember if it’s ever explained why Crowley chose to bet on the Winchesters, of all people, to go against Lucifer. I think we’re meant to not question this - to assume that they’re our main characters and fierce hunters and yadda yadda, but it’s still interesting that Crowley would know them - and well, at that. I like to think they’d been on his radar from the very beginning (or, at least, that Sam was) because of Azazel’s demented scheme, and it’s certainly possible Crowley knew everything about their dealings with Hell, including Sam’s death, Dean’s self-sacrifice, and how and why he was saved. He’s been shown, after all, to be one of the most knowledgeable characters on the board, and if he’s been keeping track of the Winchesters for years and years, that would go a long way in explaining his fond exasperation for their antics.
Now, Crowley is, of course, fascinating and interesting in himself, but what is also worth noting is that his character, like Cas’ (and perhaps even more than Cas’), is relevant in light of his relation to Dean - and Dean’s sexuality.
Tumblr media
The first thing here is - unlike Cas, who, inevitably, had a very strong relationship with Dean from the start which made perfect narrative sense, Crowley could always go either way. It can even be argued that logically, it would have made more sense to pair him off with Sam. First of all, there’s the symmetry (Dean and his angel, Sam and his demon); then there’s the fact Crowley’s got more in common with Sam than he does with Dean - the books, the art, the interest in weird languages and weirder mythology, a general ‘the end justifies the means’ attitude - I know we now have years of backstory to influence how we view those characters, but if we take them in isolation - sure, Dean and Crowley would have fun on a night out (and we’ve seen what they do together: play pool, get drunk, sleep it off with a various number of partners of unspecified gender), but Sam and Crowley - now, that had the potential of a real friendship of the minds (as I said, forget about their history and put aside Crowley’s shady morals for a second - can’t you see how much fun they would have had to explore the Bunker’s library together? how they could have planned thefts, Leverage-style, to recover some painting stolen by an oil magnate - how they would have fought at the end, because, of course, Sam wanted to donate it to a museum and Crowley, well, was planning on keeping it, because he0d bloody well earned it?). Sam becoming friends with a demon after the whole Ruby ordeal would have been a huge bout of character growth, in line with his ‘forgive and don’t judge people by their birth’ personality. And as for Crowley, it would have made sense for him to bond with Sam rather than Dean - if only for the obvious reason: Sam could still be (potentially) his future boss. The boy with the demon blood; the only vessel that can hold Lucifer. Honestly, since Crowley never wanted to be king in the first place, it would have made perfect sense for him to seduce Sam (platonically) and then guide him to the throne - there, problem solved. He would have been chief advisor of The One Who Was Foretold, right there at Sam’s right hand to keep an eye on his every decision, and he would have known, because he would have taken the time to get to know Sam, that Sam (even as a demon king) would be a fair ruler - and, more importantly, a ruler loyal to his old friends.
It was, really, the perfect scheme - and yet the idea never came up at all. In fact, Sam and Crowley lost another momentous occasion to get closer to each other - even after Sam fed Crowley his own blood, the relationship between them remained distant at best, and hostile at worst. That always struck me as really, really weird. Sam saw Crowley at his most vulnerable, and despite being Mr Forgiveness, he continues to hate Crowley with a vengeance and the whole thing never comes up at all. Uh.
I mostly think the main reason for this is very simple: Sam ‘I desperately need my own plotline’ Winchester is straight. Very straight. Pairing him with a man would have been weird. Mirroring the relationship Dean has with Cas - weirder. The thing worked until Ruby was around, but with Crowley they would have missed a lot of juicy subtext. And so, once again and despite all odds, Dean got yet another character to add to his court, and Sam was left with nothing more than Lucifer’s mild interest in him (or, as Sam himself put it in entaglednow’s side-splitting series, “Great, you get the epic love story and I get the creepy sadomasochistic non-con.”).
(This is another reason, by the way, why their refusal to be clearer on the whole ‘Dean is bi’ issue is hurting the show: it is partly, or mostly, because they’re desperate to keep that subtext going that Dean gets all the characters - people like Charlie, or Benny, or even Jody offering him to talk in her most suave mom voice - all of these things make sense in the narrative because they’re feeding the underlying subtext. And since this is, objectively, a Big Story and the core of who Dean is, and Sam’s only stake in it would be a tragic ‘I know I said I’d die for him, but I’ll now reject my gay brother out of moral virtue’ nonsense which clearly doesn’t apply to the character, he’s left with literally nothing to do. Really - most of the story seems to gravitate around these two open secrets - Dean’s sexuality, and Dean’s love for Cas; and since, as I said, Sam’s got nothing to do with either, and no reason to be mad about either, he’s left with no narrative role. Only yesterday @tinkdw was saying how the entire myth arc of S11 doesn’t make any sense without Destiel, and she’s perfectly right; most things, for a lot of time, have been about Dean’s heart.
And I want to add that I’m not okay, or happy, with any of this. First, I think it’s dishonest to include so much subtext that it basically props up your whole narrative while denying anything’s going on; and second, Sam’s a fantastic character and there’s a lot he could do - it defies logic and reason that they’re not using him better. Like, I still can’t believe the entire God reveal was only about Dean, that we still haven’t heard how Sam feels about Lucifer being around, that he’s barely had one conversation with his mother, and that he basically has zero relationships with other characters. Come on - there’s so many awesome things you could do with someone like Sam, why aren’t they doing them? On a show that’s supposedly all about the two of them, and only the two of them?)
Crowley’s arc
By having Crowley’s represent Dean’s eros to Cas’ agape (and I want to say this is a learned reference, but I’m really just thinking about YOI right now), the main mirror for Crowley, and therefore his character arc, was firmly established. Crowley would parallel Cas - and viceversa. The journey, for both of them, is to get closer to humanity (and ‘humanity’), and what’s been fascinating is that, of course, they start off in two very different places.
As I said in the beginning, Crowley’s all about control. He’s very Scarlett O’Hara about things, and he’s got good reason to be. In this, he’s heavily paralleled with Cas, but where Cas focuses his newfound (?) free will on everything but himself - hence the Jesus-like characterization - Crowley’s most consistent character trait is his selfishness. All of his schemes, and most of his ambitions, are ultimately directed at saving himself and avoid pain and death, which, to be honest, would be sensible from anyone’s point of view but is particularly understandable if we consider we’re dealing with a soulless creature who’s got no capacity to love and has endured decades, if not centures, of torture. What is most significant about Crowley, therefore, is the same thing that makes Cas stands out: how Crowley is learning about himself, and how to become who he truly is, through his love for Dean. This is something that we discuss every other day, so I won’t get into it (see for instance the ‘drowley’ tag on my blog, or read here, here or here), but it’s clearly become a major part of his character arc.
(His decision to sacrifice that spear to save Cas, for instance, was a huge step in this direction - selfishness to selflessness - so huge I still can’t believe I watched it with my own two eyes. It will probably be mirrored, quite soon, by Cas making a step of his own - in his case, towards selfishness, ie, the Winchesters’ happiness, and therefore his own, and away from yet another idiotic heavenly battle plan.)
As for what will come of it - the problem with this kind of Are you truly my enemy? characters - or, well, the trouble with everything - is that there is a limited number pf ways their story can end. And, again, the problem with Crowley and where his story is going is the same problem we have with everything else - Dean, Sam, Destiel and so on: it all depends on which kind of story this is, and what they’re trying to say with it. So, let’s have a look at it.
A) Crowley could remain his slightly evil self and die because of it - this would place Supernatural in a kind of ‘moralistic’ narrative: the good guys triumph, and the bad guys pay the price.
B) Or, he could try to do the right thing and get killed in the process: that’s the definition of tragedy, which somehow works even better when a character was despicable to start with - think Last of the Mohicans, or Severus Snape. In this case, his death would likely be the first (or the last) of many other significant characters.
C) Another possibility is that Crowley could become human, and that would be both interesting and heartbreaking to watch, because we know Crowley is very ambitious, but, as I said, my headcanon is that he became wary and power-hungry because of what was done to him in Hell. After all, Dean did get a kind of special treatment, but what he went through was also the standard procedure to destroy someone’s soul - so drunken tailor Fergus was probably on the rack for decades, until the last shred of humanity left inside him burned and withered, and it’s likely that at some point he had his O'Hara moment and that’s why he always puts himself first: because he’s bloody scared shitless to be vulnerable again. In this sense, a human Crowley would be resentful and terrified - and therefore, a beautiful character to watch.
(Not that there would be anyone left to watch, since if they go there, I think they’ll do it at the last possible moment.)
D) Or, Crowley could remain a demon but shift his priorities so completely as to work with the Winchesters full-time, sort of like Cas did. Now, this would be quite something because Cas and Crowley are often paralleled, but at the same time it would put Crowley in a difficult position: I am sure Sam and Dean would fully accept him as a member of TFW only if Crowley repented and behaved like an unpstanding citizen from then on, and how is all that compatible with being the king of Hell? Plus, what would happen to the other demons? Was Crowley making more demons when he had complete control of Hell? We know he turned Hell more bureaucratic and 'punishment fits the crime’ and whatever, but his demons were still eating human flesh, and I’m not sure they can even survive without? So, well, however noble Crowley’s intentions, that would be an uneasy alliance. If Crowley remains his lovable and snarky demon self, I see more of an Eric Northman ending for him: sure, he gets his throne and all sort of pretty distractions, but he loses his Sookie forever.
E) And finally: Crowley could be killed in a freak ‘accident’, maybe by an ally of the Winchesters who didn’t know he was sort of a friend (Mary is a prime candidate), or by Cas or Sam because of the greater good, or maybe even by Dean himself - but not by choice - and that would be a sort of fridging because it would shift the meaning of his death to the damage it’d do to his killer.
Which hypothesis is more likely?
Well: first of all, we need to bear in mind a few RL factors. They’ll probably want to keep Mark around because he’s awesome, the fans generally like him so that’s another plus, and I firmly believe they still don’t know how they want Supernatural to end (or even what the next season’s theme is going to be) so a character like Crowley is a godsend, because when weird shit needs to happen or you suddenly need drama or whatever, you can always count on someone like that to make it happen (and that’s another reason why I don’t think Crowley will become human any time soon: it would severely limit the weird shit they can pull off) - which means, it’s likely they’ll keep him around for a while. And also: his death would bring nothing, narratively, to the table. For instance, John’s death and Bobby’s death sort of made sense, because the boys had some growing up to do, and killing someone like Cain or defeating Lucifer was important because it told us our boys are on the Good side even when it’s difficult, but now we know all this.
To me - if we’re looking at the very end, there are only two ways this makes sense: either Crowley is killed off, or sacrifices himself, in some heartwrenching scenario so that his death will mean Cas or Dean or even Sam lives, or he becomes human - my headcanon is that he’ll still know how to do magic, because I’m a sucker for magician!Crowley - and walks away from the boys entirely. If Supernatural ends in tragedy, then it’s the first option all the way; but if its end is more like, there are no more monsters and you’re now free to open a car repair shop, then it only makes sense that both Cas and Crowley become human. Cas will be the sort of human who still stares up at the sky from time to time and will lie to Dean when Dean asks and say it’s okay (hopefully, Dean won’t believe a word of it and kiss him extra hard that night), and Crowley - Crowley likes to be the centre of attention, so I’m thinking politics. Or maybe he’ll hoodwink his way to the very top of a renowned auction house and meet some wealthy widow at his local golf club, and that will be it - a sort of happy ending, and the occasional drunk call to Dean to reminisce about that happy, happy summer they once had.
