So! Number 16: A Study In Redheads!

As the title suggests, it's a murder mystery. Born from the joke that Dick Grayson always gets shipped with redheads, I went "You know who else is a redhead?" didn't wait for an answer, and decided I needed to write something about Matt Murdock and Dick Grayson falling in love.

It's less of a rare pair/crackship than I assumed it to be, as every time I mention this idea to someone they tell me it's a nice ship lol!

I have very little written down, because the hard part was figuring out a muder mystery. Luckly, I'm also obsessed with Detective Conan, so I managed to figure out what I wanted.

In this fic, Wilson Fisk teams up with the Penguin to take out Daredevil, and blame either Hawkeye or Green Arrow in the process. The first chapter I wrote is actually from Peter Parker's perspective, who gets sent to Gotham to investigate Fisk as a favour to Matt.

At the same time as Peter is investigating what Fisk is doing, Dick is doing the same with Cobblepot, who's been working with some weapon traffickers in New York. While he's there, he saves Matt from the attempted murder, not knowing he's Daredevil, and accidentally incriminating himself in the whole plot. Now, Matt and Dick have to work together to prove Dick's innocence and Fisk and Cobblepot's involvement, all trying to keep their secret identities from each other.

And maybe they fall in love in the process 👀

Here's the snippet that I have of Peter's POV:

DD owes him a huge favor. Generally speaking people, were not so eager to enter Gotham City, no matter the circumstances. Heroes especially have never been welcome in the first place. Peter only hoped being there as a civilian won't invite the Bat's wrath. They'd never met –and thank whichever deity for that!– and Peter was not eager to. Matt owes him a giant favor. And Peter can't wait to cash it in. Gotham socialite life isn't all that spread out. There's only a few really wealthy and influential people actually living there. Most others came from out of town, like Lex Luthor or Oliver Queen, for these kinds of events. Peter has never heard of Tony Stark or Dr. Reed Richards attending one of these, though that could be because of their high visibility in the superhero community. And, as previously established, those kinds of people were not welcome in Gotham.

It's kind of an old idea, but I rotate it in my head quite often. I hope I get the brainworms working again one day so I can write more.

a river returning each month

Title inspired by poem in praise of menstruation by Lucille Clifton. To be honest, I've discovered this beautiful poem only yesterday, while I was looking for a title in English. But I fell in love with it, and I can't think of anything more fitted for menstruation and for Riza, because she's beautiful and faithful and brave

When he entered the empty, cold and dark kitchen a few minutes after seven that morning, Roy knew something was wrong. Usually Miss Riza would already be next to the stove to boil water, put tea to infuse, toast bread and sometimes already cook lunch during her free days. It was the first time he didn't see the girl at her post since he'd arrived a few months ago to begin his apprenticeship with Berthold Hawkeye.

She'd been difficult to coax her to his side, but she'd softened. They'd begun to talk together as soon as she'd understood he wouldn't say anything about her gateways in the forest. She used to leave the house because of the pressure and when her father treated her unfairly. Household tasks were a burden sometimes and Riza held these moments dearly.

Roy lit up the gas, filled the kettle with water and placed it on the stove. He'd seen Riza doing it so many times he knew where the tools and pots were, so he could prepare plenty of meals. We'll, he hadn't tried to cook yet.

However, when her tea had infused like she liked it, turning into a beautiful amber hue, he began to worry. Usually she was always downstairs early, and he doubted Master Hawkeye would be indulgent if she didn't do her chores.

The rumor that Jensen was up for the role of Hawkeye/turned down the role of Hawkeye is DEBUNKED.

I was going to write up a post in the format of @messier51 's Media Journalism is a Giant Game of Telephone, but I'm up to 9+ single spaced pages in a Google Doc so here's the TL;DR version in a format inspired by @fandomdebunker

Ackles is rumored to have given up the role of Hawkeye in The Avengers, and Marvel Studios continues to remind him of its interest in bringing him in to its ever-growing Cinematic Universe. On top of that, Ackles' current relationship with Warner Bros. (through Warner Bros. television) is likely to have DC interested as well, as they know exactly how strong – not to mention valuable – he his as an actor.

The Screen Rant tag for "The Avengers" is not a source, it is a time limited pile of clickbait and even using an archived link from January 24, 2014 I found nothing. Am I supposed to click back to 2010 to attempt to find a source? (Yes.) I'm guessing Browne 2010, Keyes 2010a, and Keyes 2010b are supposed to be the sources, not that there is a single word about Hawkeye? 

Oh, and sure to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the Screen Rant (Ocasio 2014) piece where you’ll see a link to Goldman 2014: Ocasio 2014 is basically a copy/paste of this article.

The last show left to originally air on The WB, Supernatural has had an impressively long life, and is now in Season 9. The show not only continues to be one of the strongest performers on The CW, but its ratings have been up this season from the previous year. Still, just how much longer could the series go?

Asked that question at the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour today, CW's president, Mark Pedowitz, essentially said the show could go on indefinitely - as long as the ratings continue to hold up and the Supernatural team wants to continue.

Said Pedowitz, "As a fan of the show, who’s seen every episode, as long as I’m here and those numbers hold, God bless them. They can go as long as they want."

As for the potential Supernatural spinoff, which will be set up in a backdoor pilot this season, Pedowitz was asked if that was still in play and he replied, "Yes, very much so. It's set in Chicago. Hunters, monsters... The script just came in."

As for whether any of the main Supernatural characters would appear in the spinoff, which will be centered around new characters, Pedowitz said, "In the spinoff episode, they'd be in it. Whether they're in the series... For me, for spinoffs to work, you have to stand them on their own two legs, so you can only do those crossovers when the time is right, like we did with The Originals. We didn't see Michael Trevino's character, Tyler, until the seventh or eighth episode. By that time, the show was standing up on its own two legs."

So where the hell did (Ocasio 2014) get the Hawkeye bit from? I'm going to speculate it was an internet created rumor stemming from either a dodgy publicist planting the rumor or fan casting back in 2010 becoming lore.

Last night I DM'ed Jules Wilkinson (SupernaturalWiki admin) and she said her "Jensen expert" friend didn't remember him ever mentioning it at a Con or otherwise. Jules thinks it may be an internet created rumor, possibility originating from a publicist: "It's an easy way to get press for a movie without actually confirming anything, and its unlikely an actor will straight out deny being mentioned in relation to a high profile project (although sometimes they do years later)".

Another possibility is fan casting back in 2010 became lore when a writer included it in their articles:

"If Ackles can't be cast in Captain America, can he pretty, pretty please be cast as Hawkeye in the upcoming Avengers film?" (Saucedo 2010a) 

"While the Supernatural geek in me would have preferred Jensen Ackles in the role, I have to say Renner is a nice addition to the cast — really complimenting the caliber of actors Marvel has recruited to don leather costumes and punch each other." (Saucedo 2010b) 

Finally, maybe the dude just made it up for hits.

I do not consider the speculative content in Ocasio 2014 to be a reliable source; therefore, I'm classifying this rumor as DEBUNKED.

Part 2/6: Bloody Hell

Dawn had just begun when Roy stepped out of his tent and took the wire with today's orders given by an exhausted soldier.

They were all exhausted. Some had been fighting since the beginning of the war seven years ago. They hadn’t seen their families for a long time, during too rare permissions.  Roy's nights were haunted by the cries of his victims, and for a few days now, by Riza’s broken, disappointed eyes. By Cadet Hawkeye's eyes. Why had she become a soldier? She could do so many other things in her life, but she'd decided to enlist. Why?

This question haunted Roy since he'd seen her by the campfire. He couldn’t ask her then, but that was nothing compared to what he'd done to her. He'd betrayed her. He'd betrayed her trust and used the alchemy she'd given him in order to kill.

Roy glanced at the wire. They had to finish the job they'd begun yesterday. Ishvals had been seen coming back to the ruins, looking for survivors and useful stuff. "Leave nothing. Burn everything." His orders were clear, and Roy tasted bitterness in his mouth.
