The storage trip today wasn’t so bad… just super overwhelming because my parents keep everything… like, empty packages of things like guitar strings or cigarette and it’s like, why not just throw them away?? Idk. So much of the unit was trash.

The yellow jewelry box appears not to be broken! In it I found a bunch of sports enamel pins, some not even open. My mom loved to collect a bunch of stuff, and I’ve saved some of them to look up to see if they’re worth anything… she had unopened deck of cards from old airlines, the 1984 Olympics, etc. found some old coins and stamps too.

There’s a lot of work ahead though. There’s a big container of VHS tapes that were my uncle’s (my mom’s brother) who was a big wig in the Kenpo scene back in the day. I found recordings of Tournaments in Long Beach, some where Bruce Lee himself was in attendance. My family is mostly interested in the videos of my uncle, but there is so much to and we have figure out what’s on what. We know those will be useful to someone, so I’ve gotta sort through it all… I don’t even have a VCR, lol.

One of the sadder things was some of my old artwork was in there, which I had no idea was even there. It was completely destroyed by water damage… I grabbed a water color sketchbook that had intact paintings in it, but it literally looks like there’s mold growing on the cover. I still have old artwork saved elsewhere, but this was still sad.

I also found a Byzantine Catholic prayer book in Arabic and Greek that must have belonged to my great grandparents… I had never seen it before, so that was cool too.

I’m very tired… this was the start of a big project and there’s still so much to do. Thank you everyone who continues to send me their good vibes 💜
