Hey, I'm sorry. I know you're not part of the miraculous fandom anymore, but I've wanted to ask this question for a really long time. Were there ever moments when designing your own miracle box, kwamis, or powers did you ever feel the urge to just throw out the idea of the miraculous being tied to a specific culture and just having them be generic fantasy? Or just throw out the idea of the guardians and miracle boxes in general and just have the kwamis be free roamers that pick their own holders based on their personalities? (There is also the idea of just throwing out the idea of the kwamis embodying concept and just being beings of magic)

Oh plenty of times.

In hindsight, and in the grand scheme of things, that's honestly how they should've handled the Miraculous, not tie them to any one specific culture or region. Just let them be open to the world. Let them be magical.

It would've opened them up to work with a variety of myths and cultures or pick what they want to work with power wise instead of just tying it to one specific region. It would've allowed them to be flexible with what animals could appear and they didn't have to limit themselves to iconic groups of animals of that region or bring in a huge number like the freak Chinese Zodiac that they clearly couldn't handle or scale evenly.

I can't say for others cause it just may be me, but I definitely wouldn't be raising a brow or be put off at some of the choices made with powers and some of the clear inspirations for the Miraculous and kwamis. Like, Rabbit I would've only be bothered by the time traveling power and not just it also being tied to a European novel when it's supposed to be tied to China (and the Moon Rabbit IS RIGHT THERE but I guess we can't have a 2nd healing Miraculous to help shoulder the burden for LB but we can have multiple that generate items).

I also wouldn't be so bothered about how Tikki and Plagg are portrayed and their very European/Christian inspirations (especially them becoming those over designed biblical angels, if anyone knows for sure please do correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think those have a place in Taoism and to me just screams they should've been Europe based, especially as Thomas still works off the European good and bad luck themes more than creation and destruction (like there was a whole series of tweets from Thomas insisting that Cataclysm doesn't DESTROY but causes bad things to happen), even though this is a power from what should be Destruction... and they're the most iconic animal symbols for good and bad luck in Europe specifically).

Honestly, the only issue that could've arose if they let them loose in origins is the two that's very European/Christian based being established as "most powerful", and you don't really want that, but if you just remove the idea of tiers and just roll with that some have an edge over others (like Ladybug always has an edge over Butterfly), then that fixes that.

But, in doing so, that does lead down a path of changes and questions to consider: Miraculous wise what should exist, what should be cut, how do Miraculous work off each other, what's the system of control in the face of misuse, should Ladybug and Cat be the ONLY wish granting duo, should there be others, if so how is Ladybug and Cat more desirable than any other wish granting duo, could it be that every pair can grant a unique sort of wish, or could it be that by a specific year a specific duo grants the wish and it's the year of LB and Cat, ect..

I admit that it's all probably over complicating things, but it's questions like those that come to mind when I think of tossing away Miraculous tied to a specific region and culture, and it's just apart of the ongoing issue of trying to think of how to fix the show cause it's just endless possibilities and potential to pick from and consider. Like, take Adrien as an example, his character could have roughly 10 possible paths to take as a character. If they wanted to do something with him, the options are there. Could done him as a starting hero who starts it for freedom and fun and then becomes serious later. Could do him learning friendship lessons. Could do him learning that he can find happiness outside the need for romantic love. If not as a starting hero, could've given the Ladyblog to him to run and he wants to expose his crush and just not consider what that could mean for her and not everyone likes that public attention that he's used to (and for angst, Gabriel is supportive of Adrien doing this), heck, if you wanted sentiAdrien, could do him growing into his own, becoming his own person and breaking free of Gabriel's control.

Another big factor is that you change so much of ML's set up and the little lore that's given, well, it becomes less ML and more your take on the concept, and at that point, maybe it's best just to do your own thing cause it's not ML anymore.

Either way, for Guardians, the Order, and the Miracle Box, I honestly don't mind them existing, but they were mishandled. If Miraculous popped up enough, then there will be a good number of people who will know about them, and there will be people who will think it's a good idea to make an organization designed to work with them, secure they don't fall into wrong hands, and handle any big crisis that arises. And I like the idea that the Miracle Box was designed to house the jewelry, but also offered kwamis their own safe pocket dimension, which could open up to more so they can have their own rooms but also a core space for all to hang out in. The big issue of the Order is that what we get is just incredibly incompetent that they shouldn't have bothered. And the big shame is that they could've been an antagonistic force or the next villains to face post HM, cause hey, it is human nature to be controlling and have a say in how things should be and it could it started with good intentions and turned south, could've done humans could look down on kwamis and their views and think they know better, or it could be that kwamis can't be fully trusted in their views. It just could've been complex and interesting.

And lastly concepts, I go back and forth on that, cause on one hand, that can be limiting in terms of powers, cause animals can be so much more than one theme. Like, time does work well for snakes, but they're also tied to dragons, water, healing, death, duality, cunning/intelligence, ect.. But if you're doing a single power or a few, that can give you some idea on what to work with, especially if you can have a single power that is just right. If Dog was the Miraculous of Recollection, and you expanded upon what Fetch could Fetch, it's a perfect match, you could recollect a lost object or person (can work off search and rescue dogs), you could recollect a recently passed soul and revive someone who recently passed (works off hellhounds and guarding the underworld), it could even be done to bring forth a memory or be used as a means to bring forth the truth when it's denied (which is another term of recollection).

Gosh this became such a long rant, but yeah, I have thought of those things when I was trying to figure out how to rework stuff. I do think in the grand scheme of it all, it'd be better if Miraculous weren't tied to China and just allowed to dabble in a variety of cultures and be very traveled, especially as they clearly didn't want to really represent that culture and just used it because foreign = exotic and magical. Not to say there wouldn't be any issues but there'd be less to raise a brow at, and it would've given them more flexibility in powers and what Miraculous could appear. Now the Order and concepts, that's a give or take depending on how they're handled and what's done, but I'd say with the current show they're not worth the inclusion.

I barely follow any Remus' blogs/content creator anymore because whenever i search for them, at least 60% of them contain Wolfstar, while the other 40% MIGHT contain Severus' bashing. I'd rather stick and wait for Snupin shippers to drop more Remus Lupin contents. Well.. I guess some Remadora fans are fine but there's just too many Snaters out there. I'd rather take care of my mental health and not get involved with these people.

Well, I bought ad-free Tumblr.

I did it because I realized what I would prefer, if I could have my way (aside from just no one needing to pay for anything at all ever hahahahaha), then we'd all pay to subscribe to tumblr and it just wouldn't be free. It'd be like $1.99 per month and all of us would pay it and have no ads and be happy and whee.

Now that's not my serious opinion. I know, for one, what happens when you stick things behind a paywall. Tumblr might not be a scientific journal or reputable news source (lol) but a paywall still divides, still excludes, and that's antithetical to the entire experience of the Internet. And then, there would still be all the other social media sites that have ads and don't make you pay out of pocket, which would sail on with everyone who can't afford or doesn't want to afford tumblr.

Everyone paying a nice, neat, cheap monthly fee or discount annual fee and getting along together is what would work best for me, but it's not realistic for everyone. But, since I'm willing to do it, I thought, why haven't I? And I'll tell you why: Because idk about the rest of you, but much of tumblr really doesn't work that well for me. I have issues with posting, especially with paragraph breaks and trying to move bits of text around. I don't like that posts I reblogged in the past are hidden forever behind "Flagged for mature content" warnings and it's like. A picture of a cat. Not to mention broken music links and videos (which I guess aren't tumblr's fault, just makes me sad). I don't like how pictures seem to always end up sized differently and you have to open it just the right way to see it how you want. Not to mention a bunch of features tumblr used to have that I loved have gone away or been massively de-emphasized: support for music players on blogs, for example. (Yes I still have one but it's a pain the neck.) Polls are nice but I miss that. I also miss convenient free themes - they're still there of course! But finding one that has everything I want (no endless scrolling, clear navigation, visible icon and description, music player, etc) is also a pain and I just end up reusing the same old one I've been using since I joined and recoloring it lol.

So I'd be happier about paying for tumblr if the experience were just a touch cleaner, faster. Oh, and not forgetting about PC users xP I know lots of people use their phone, I do too, it's convenient - but PC is just easier. Well, maybe for teens who can type on their phones at 50 mph it's no big deal. But I love love love my keyboard.

But anyway I paid it so I get a year without ads. Honestly I thought about it and $40 a year is what, ten cents a day? I really don't mind that. I wasn't really bothered by ads anymore since they've been scaled back, but now I can be bothered by them even less, so yay. OTOH, it looks like the subscription auto-renews, which I HATE. If so, I hope they send a warning email a few days before.

Oh and you know what else helped. I did a few youtube searches recently, and wanted to tear out my own hair over how frustrating it was. I just want a list of videos that relate to the subject of my search, not interspersed between "things I've seen before," "random shorts," "things that are similar," "things totally different that Youtube wants to show me anyway." And same thing on Google, Amazon, anywhere. I'm just so sick of it. So I'll fucking pay for fucking tumblr x'D Just work and not be annoying alright!!

See the 3 witches are doing their pound land version of the iconic layby kiss with second rate characters nobody's interested in. Strikes me they are beyond desperate to inject some life into the soap they're ruined.

Honestly, this whole Caleb/Nicky story is so confusing to me at this point, I don't even know what to make of it anymore.

On a base surface level, it was kind of a fun twist/reveal with the Frank Tate connection but it just opened up so many questions that have yet to be answered, it's hard for me to wrap my head around and frankly, it's still just not that interesting to me.

I still want to understand how Caleb knew Frank was his father and how he got all of his Tate history information to even know enough to want to take down Kim. And then, why does he even really care?! And why does he care enough to rope his son into it? And not just rope him into it, but put him in the middle of it and potentially force him to marry someone against his will? And I don't understand his money problems and why we should care about Nicky's mum being homeless?! Or why she's homeless? Or what any of these people were doing before they showed up in Emmerdale?! I mean you had Caleb doing nothing but splashing out on fancy lawyers for Kyle when he first showed up and he did actually help. But all of a sudden Nicky is complaining that his mum needs money and is homeless and that's somehow Caleb's responsibility even though they're separated? Or does Nicky want to take part in this scheme because he wants to support his mum? But why is she so broke in the first place?

And what is Caleb even really trying to do to Kim? Get money? I guess? But also ruin her somehow? Sure?! But is he meant to succeed? Are having a changing of the guard or is he going to fail and we'll end up right back and status quo? And are we supposed to be rooting for him?!

And then I have all kinds of questions about Nicky and Ally. Not in a genuine interest kind of way, but in a 'I just want to understand what it is they're trying to do' kind of way. Is he gay? Is he bi and they're just continuing their whole 'every bisexual character has to cheat' story? But also it's not like he loves Gabby anyway and is only doing this for a scam so it's not quite the same?! And then were Nicky and Ally actually a thing? In the past? Currently? It half seemed like they had a thing going at some point and half like this was the first time this happened??

And we know absolutely nothing about Ally. Is he supposed to be a regular character or just a guest star for a few episodes? Are we meant to be interested in this relationship? Or is it just to give Nicky more secret reveals?

And if this relationship is supposed to be something, then I don't feel like they've started it off super well with all this cryptic confusion and unanswered questions either.

I mean, they're never going to recreate Robron because it was kind of lightning in a bottle, with them being two characters from big families who had such rich on screen histories to play off of and lots of connections in the village. they're just never going to have that kind of perfect combination to work with again.

But these two are so underdeveloped at the moment, I don't even know what to make of them. And sure, you can start stories from different points, but it wouldn't kill them to actually develop characters before they throw them at each other.

I don't know...this show is a mess. And so is this answer. Haha.

8-Man vs. Cyborg 009

Who's this schmuck? Just kidding, I did some background research and apparently 8-Man is one of the OG cyborg heroes to come out of Japan, predating Cyborg 009 by a year. He's called 8-Man because the scientist who turned him into a cyborg failed this experiment 7 times before getting to him. Yikes.

Crappy name aside (apparently the mangaka also had a manga called "Wolf Guy," which I find hilarious), it's a neat idea to put two OGs against each other. I'm sure the boomers are excited lol. (Come to think of it, Japan's population skews older, so it would make sense that this sort of thing would be published now).

Ch. 1

Coming from the BGOO Parts manga, the art feels a little clunkier and dated here. Backgrounds are very simple and there's less detail in how the characters are drawn. It's still faithful to the original series though and that's good enough for me.

Just like with BGOO Parts, they're rehashing Black Ghost stuff again, with some retconning along the way. Series that resurrect the same villain over and over are so dull. Please do something else writers!! :(

Why did the skull-masked guy (Cyborg #22) look kinda kawaii tho? They drew his eyes all shiny and cutesy.

They flashback to the end of volume 10 AGAIN. I guess that really is the most iconic moment of the franchise, but with every flashback it's losing its charm.

There was a diagram explaining 8-Man in the front of the manga and I guess he uses cigarettes as a power source? First of all...huh? Second, that's the most 1960s thing I've ever heard.

Also in the front of the manga is an image of Joe carrying a beat up looking 8-Man. Way to spoil it! I wonder what the vs. in the title is implying? Are they going to be rivals and then team up or are they straight up pitted against each other?

Did they pair these two together because they were like "8? 9? You get it? Eh? Eh?" What if it was 8-Man vs. 008 lol. It would have to be underwater randomly I suppose.

Ch. 2

Okay I stand corrected, I guess 8-Man isn't a cyborg...he's closer to an android, but he has a human consciousness so...he's not really an android either.

This was like, the exposition chapter. They wrote this assuming the reader was new to 8-Man and maybe Cyborg 009 too so they gotta hastily give little wikipedia summaries of what the reader missed lol. Not enough exposition for me to know who the robot bossing 8-Man around is supposed to be though! Maybe that'll come later.

I see the obvious parallels with the stories here, both cyborgs/androids/whatever were created as weapons but their creators wanted more for them. 8-Man has a little more of a film noir vibe tho with the detective aspect.

How the heck is a cigarette a "cooling" tool? My brain does not compute.

So 8-Man is being ordered to attack Joe, I guess. I wonder if he's been misled about Joe's background? He kinda helped him out back there with the cigarette, so I guess he's showing hesitation.

Ch. 3

So I guess Black Ghost's motive is to "resurrect/summon the God of war Ares by sacrificing one of the heroes..." Not Greek mythology again...please. I can't take it anymore!

8-Man's hands kinda look like Mickey Mouse gloves teehee

Dr. Tani and Dr. Daemon look so identical to me that I had to swipe back a few pages and compare them. I finally excepted they weren't the same person when Dr. Daemon referred to Dr. Tani in the third person lol.

We get more revelations about how 8-Man's machine brain works. He retains every memory (either OP or awful) and Ivan can't read his mind. I forgot Ivan could read minds in the first place? I feel like he doesn't do that much.

This manga has a lot of two page spreads, which I appreciate. They make the reading experience more cinematic, it moves things along quicker in general (no dialogue), and it looks great on my giant tablet :D

Ch. 4

The villains from the respective series place their bets on which hero will come out victorious. It gave me Squid Game vibes (but obviously less gruesome).

It's kind of funny how the villains are low key rooting their corresponding hero on, wanting to show off their nemesis to their new friend.

Kinda awkward how the other numbers cyborgs are just tagging along waiting for 8-Man and 009 to be done. I guess there's not much they can contribute, which is probably why BGOO Parts gave everyone accelerator mode...

I enjoyed the shot of Joe and 8-Man outrunning the shinkansen. That was fun.

Ch. 5

After the battle between 009 and 8-Man, Black Ghost and Dr. Daemon attack and kidnap Joe, Francoise and Azuma. Black Ghost reveals their master plan to harvest memories from the cyborg so that they can resurrect the 3 brains that make up the "true" Black Ghost and put them in a giant robot body.

I'm not fully clear on what Dr. Daemon gets out of all this? I guess he gets to help rule the world or something?

The way they depict Francoise's ability makes her seem hilariously useless. She's supposed to be able to detect things from very far distances but every time she senses something it's like 2 feet away from everyone lol. Like she'll be like "something's coming...from the ocean!" and the gang turns around and it's right next to them. Thanks for nothing lol.

The demon God statue (taken from the original manga) looks kinda silly. It's bird beak makes it look like it's from Darkwing Duck or something haha.

Ch. 6

Okay 8-Man and Francoise getting all flustered once Francoise implied that her and Joe are in love was really cute. I wanna see more scenes of them getting to know each other and becoming friends :D (not likely)

The concept of world domination via a giant space satellite/demon God statue is pretty badass, not gonna lie. Very classic evil guy plan.

Seems we can now drop the pretenses that this is going to be a "versus" situation and everyone will just team up in volume 2. Pretty predictable.

General opinion/How much I care about them: eosd is absolutely overexposed but that doesn't have to affect how much I genuinely like the sdm crew, and Remilia 🧛‍♀️! its a little funny how the og (well og windows) final boss has somewhat faded into the shadow these days, but then again you kinda cant predict who will suddenly become relevant in canon anymore

Either way, I like Remilia! the devil who insists on playing up her castlevania aesthetic to outsiders whenever possible. Despite general fandom playing her up as a spoiled sort, I do believe in her dignity as head of the household at least to the extent that she cares about her entire makeshift family dearly and has long since carved a proper place for them all in gensokyo...

A ship I love: There's really only two big Remilia ships for me, and those are with Patchouli, her oldest and dearest friend, or Sakuya, her devoted human maid. what I like about remipatchy is a lot to do with the implied history and closeness they have, but that's not as easy to just get into on the spot, so i'll instead talk about remisaku.

They're really funny, and bizarrely sweet in ways thats quite unlike any other ship. A lot of it has to do with Sakuya in particular being the most youkai-like being in the whole mansion despite being the only human. The imagery of the dark vampire mistress and her loyal servant is something that they both enjoy playing up and only get more into it whenever the other starts encouraging it. And yet its definitely Remilia who probably has trouble sometimes keeping up with Sakuya...

also remisaku is also a staple for that melancholic ageless creature x mortal human relationship, ever since Sakuya said that thing about wanting to live as a human... Many fans of gone into depth in it in many different stories over the decades, because its a good cliche!

i know technically you can do that kind of story with just about any human x nonhuman, but in my opinion there are only two touhou ships that genuinely warrant and fit with it. One is mokou/keine, because being unable to die is obviously mokou's entire deal (while the other immortal characters explore other facets that come with living forever), and the other is remisaku, even if only because of one iconic line of dialogue, and because they came first 😛

A non-romantic relationship that I love: I think the only people Remlia would trust to take care of Flandre (as in both caring for her and also being capable of doing so) outside of sdm (so basically sakuya, patchouli and meiling) are Reimu and Marisa. while i don't think Reimu's ever actively offering to do so, Marisa's frequent visits to the sdm probably makes as a sorta surrogate big sister to Flandre, which maybe annoys Remilia to some extent especially when Flandre jokes(?) about only having one sister who is also blonde, but i think she's pretty happy about it otherwise n_n

although of speaking of blonde people visiting Flandre and acting as a surrogate something! I really love to imagine what madness is going through Remilia's head when it comes to Okina, this sage who basically abducted her little sister who is not supposed to casually go ouside and take her on as some weird protoge

The NOTP: i mean aside from the obvious 'dont ship with her sister', i guess i dont have any feelings for remilia/reimu. I know Remilia was basically the first of Reimu's enemies turned recurring visitors, but there's also been so many more exciting examples since (which uh even include Sakuya!)

My biggest headcanon about them: you know, it is also funny how koumakan doesnt entiiirely gel with touhou's worldbuilding since then. like what role do they even serve in gensokyo? how are they maintaining their wealth? I know they were already rich when they arrived, but its been a long time since, andthey're gonna run out of trinkets or old hierlooms to sell eventually, right? Though I guess if the sdm crew want to claim the entirety of misty lake belongs to them, uuuuh whos gonna care enough to stop them? Yeah that's my headcanon, Remilia and her crew have claimed everywhere within like a hundred square feet of land of their mansion as their private property.

An idea for a fanfiction I would like to write/read about them: gosh i think any kind of fun or interesting story involving remilia or sdm i can think of, I've probably already seen it somewhere! that's the power of eosd popularity!! Not that a good idea can't be done more than once but it means im not exactly left wanting 😄

Something that makes me think of them: i kinda cant think anything this moment and trying to force it would probably be really unnatural, but i will say Remilia is the only member of the aristocracy i would respect. probably.

brief rundown of my blog's timeline post ds9 before i update it on my dossier:

2376- takes command of ds9 in an official capacity as the "new year" (at least the standardized calendar they use or whatever says) comes. it's the same year she gets attainted (aka. excommunicated by the vedek assembly) for releasing an ancient semi-prophetic text that did not view the bajoran prophets as gods but rather, aliens. this is a rough year — oh also, starfleet decided to use ds9 as a rehab for ro so.... ensue headaches

late-2376 : they receive a distress call from europa nova, takes in a bunch of refugees whilst kira n co are also trying to find the source of the disaster. uh tldr: she ends up goin thru an iconian gateway, ends up in the DQ, gets hunted by the hirogen before yeeting herself into an escape pod and end up on some m-class planet. oh yes, and she straight up dies. dw, she comes home to ds9 alive (it's on the dossier im not typing this part again)

2378- another year another year of bULLSHIT! some starfleet admiral's picking on her (at least she believes it to be), shakaar and his governments being a bitch baby. she's so done. she just wants to be doing anything but THIS

oh yeah the defiant? right, so the current founders (aka odo & co) and ds9 (and ds9 only!) made an agreement to let them conduct exploratory missions in the gamma quadrant again. julian and ezri —— THE ONLY TWO PEOPLE WHO SHE TRUSTS AT THIS POINT —— gone out exploring.

oh yeah, also people started protesting on the promenade. some were anti-cardassian (one of ziyal's artwork gets vandalized) and some were anti-vedek assembly. a small group of people are beginning to speak frankly about how kira's been mistreated. you can say, she's once again, an icon and symbol —— WHICH SHE DOES NOT WANT ONCE AGAIN

oh yeah have we mentioned voyager's returned? yeah so it's... docked here for some time now being studied like an organism under a microscope. yep. ds9's tourism industry is THRIVING

2379- remember kira's lil religious movement she accidentally started? yeah that's why they haven't picked a new kai yet. imagine the chaos in the assembly. just imagine. well, it wasn't as bad as when winn adami was in charge but STILL.

guess what??? there's also talks about bajor potentially joining the federation. oh what great timing this all is.... cue kira looking longingly at the wormhole with her emotional support baseball.

oh yeah during this time she's also been visiting kasidy on bajor as much as she can and they're raising the sisko-yates kid semi-together. it's abt the only thing she looks forward to anymore. that and video calling the o'briens.

mid-2379: oh my! they found kai opaka and she's ALIVE?!?! gasp! hey guess what? opaka chastised the vedek assembly for not allowing kira to openly practice her faith. uh tldr: they kinda got bullied into letting kira back and thank fuck for that

late-2379: bajor's supposed to sign the treaty to join the federation but uh drama happens and they don't sign... again. (deciding if i wanna keep the whole trill unjoined plotline ngl) but yknow what... it's fine... right???

2380: honestly for the first time, it's a pretty tame year... thank fuck for that. bajor and the federation are still in negotiations on what it means to join the federation and what not. hey look! it's shaxs! and mariners mom lmao

2381: bajor joins the federation (yaaaay) omg ben sisko is that you??? oh thank fuck they can all relax for once... right? oh yeah kira gets the captain title and a bunch of belated as fuck commendations

I think I didn't like the daily login aspect of it. When I want to play a game, I want to be able to sit through it for a long while and not need to wait to play the next day for some extra dialouge. Nothing cool at my work place, sadly. Just same old, same old. No developed OCs either. I've just been babysitting so I haven't had time to think to myself for a while v_v

Though, I have played some new games :D (Some of them not really *new* new games but have been in my roster for a while but haven't touched till as of recently):

- Honkai Star Rail (I'm sure you've heard of that one!)

- Phasmophobia (Hunting ghosties~~)

- Outlast Trials (Horror/Sci-fi(?) I've been waiting for one of my friends on the other side of the world to get back home so I can play it again x_x)

- Left 4 Dead 2 (FPS shooter game. I usually don't play them but it's been for so far!)

- Project Zomboid (Survival game w/ zombies)

Thinking about Dazai's memories

I think it's interesting how we basically got two sets of Dazai's memories within 3 months, so since I analyzed the Beast ones, I thought I'd analyze these as well. As always it's just me rambling under the cut, and remember guys that below there are spoilers from everything up until this point!

The first memory memory we see is a completely new one. I love it when montages use new memories instead of simply reusing what was shown before, so I appreciate this little scene. Their outfits are taken from chapter 31 and seeing Chuuya in these clothes was so strangely nostalgic. The only difference is that Dazai has his arm broken instead of his leg. Also I like how young they look here. They're just kids annoying each other just like Dazai is saying in the background.

The second memory I'm pretty sure is also one of the new scenes we haven't seen before. It looks like Fifteen, but I don't recognize this background and the closest illustration I could find is the one from the light novel. Maybe it's supposed to show how they gained confidence and were ruling the city (judging by the building in the background), but yeah that's all I have.

After that I noticed a scene from chapter 31 in bottom left. It's taken right from the manga with no changes besides Chuuya's jacket being coloured in. Considering Dazai's fascination with corruption, it makes sense that it appears in his memories. Here, it's been 4 years since they fought together and it's the first time Dazai could observe Chuuya being possessed in a long time. Interestingly, it's not corruption in its peak that's portrayed here but the moment when Dazai is bringing Chuuya back to his senses. With the context of this chapter, it might mean that Dazai wants to protect Chuuya and despite liking danger and sending Chuuya to fight directly, he cares about him.

Bottom right seems to be from chapter 31 as well, just slightly changed. And that also makes sense because these are supposed to be his memories, so he might not remember each detail perfectly. It's the moment when Dazai sends Chuuya into action, which is something I already mentioned. Dazai likes to see Chuuya fight and to tease him, and this chapter had both.

With this next one I have no idea which scene it could be. I'm like 75% sure it's from their first meeting after 4 years back in chapters 10 and 11, but it's a reach. We only have Dazai's legs, a bit of his coat and Chuuya's shoulder, so there's not a lot to work with. But it does make sense for it to be from their first meeting after 4 years, because it was important for them both. Dazai stayed in that dungeon partially because he wanted to talk with Chuuya and this is what this memory could be alluding to. My first thought was Dazai leaving Chuuya behind after Oda's death, but I don't think he got his coat right this soon.

Then we have one of the most iconic skk scenes from Storm Bringer. Not to spoil it too much, but in this scene Chuuya decides to save Yokohama even if it means never getting to know if he's a human being. In this scene he trusts Dazai's plan and goes into action, something Dazai must be looking back at fondly. I kinda wish we had the scene in which he catches Chuuya after the fight, but I guess it would be too fluffy for this angsty chapter.

And I left 2 memries that I thought were the most interesting additions for last. The firts one being this scene from Dead Apple and I'm so happy that it made it here for a few reasons. First of all now we have a proof that Dead Apple is canon in the manga. I know it was canon before, but it wasn't mentioned or anything, so there was this shadow of doubt. Now, it's 100% canon. The other reason is that I'd love to see Dead Apple with Harukawa's art style and it's great that we now have this scene even though it's just a shadow. I wondered how it would be shown in the main manga and now I don't have to anymore. It also looks way more desperate than in the movie or Dead Apple manga, because of the wind and how Chuuya reaches his arm to Dazai before he punches him. It's also most likely Dazai's imagination, since he was unconscious when it happened.

And last but absolutely not least (on the contrary, I wanted to hype it up), we have one of the most iconic skk scenes, and here comes the question, is it even from Fifteen? Because as we can see, the positions of hands are swapped and Dazai isn't wearing this brace type of thing on his arm. This scene isn't in the original light novel, so either Asagiri and Harukawa were like screw it, we're adding it to the canon or it's a different instance. And if it's a different situation, then what was this fight? It's also possible that the positions are switched because it's Dazai's pov not Chuuya's like in the anime. Either way hand-holding is now canon and I'm so happy about this fact.

In conclusion

Dazai's memories with Chuuya seem to be a mix of their fights with enemies and some other moments they shared as well, putting an emphasis not on the fights themselves (since there are no other people and they aren't in combat stances), but their connection throught them. I wish we got to see more scenes, but I understand going overboard could be on overkill, especially if it's just a cliffhanger death meant to fool us. It's hard to judge Dazai's reaction, because he could be putting on a show, but it also seems to be genuine and cherishing these memories would make sense for his character. I'm so glad we got to see this little peek into Dazai's mind and his memories, and now I want more.

Y'know how many anon asks I've answered since starting this blog? with all the themed nights I had? When you go to my blog and go to the #asks tag, there's over 200 pages soooo I honestly don't know if I can give you *the* definitive iconic anon ask.

Also, what do you mean when you say iconic? Are we talkin' the most memorable? and is it in a positive or negative light? because not gonna lie, anon, the anons that I remember the most are negative. Isn't that how it always goes? You could get 10 asks, 9 positive experiences and 1 negative and it's that one negative that's gonna stick with ya. Awesome, right?

I do think I have an experience with a certain set of anons from the same person that I suppose you could say is "iconic" or memorable in a shitty way? In fact, they're a set of anons that I never even publicly answered.

I believe I shared some of the story once before when I was promoting The Writer's Guild? But not the whole story, just the part that explained why people had to directly message me if they wanted to join.

I dunno, maybe it'll be good to fully share this, get it off my chest and all that. It's probably the most bizarre thing to happen to me in this fandom, and not a good bizarre.

Y'know how I used to do T5F on this blog? They were a lot of fun, I loved making them! But, the very first one I ever did about the top 5 dumbest things about TFS not only got me yelled at by an anon, but they kinda sorta spied on me in an old discord chat. It's a wild story, most of the chat was present for it and it was an overall uncomfortable and unbelievable night.

I wish I had taken screenshots but it didn't occur to me at the time, and I'm not apart of that chat anymore for this reason, but you can even ask @pi-creates or anyone else who was present.

So, the reason this anon was upset with me and this T5F I posted was a joke I made about Violet.... because of course this all happened because of Violet sksksk. I don't exactly have a happy history when it comes to interacting with hardcore Violet stans, they don't really care for my takes on her character or her relationships.

The 4th entry on that post was about Abel's shotgun and how it doesn't make sense that Louis was the only one hit by it. I said the following:

"Soooo…. I guess the buckshot swerves around and above Violet to ONLY hit Louis? Like, I know she ducks a bit but I still feel like something should’ve nicked her as well?? At least?? Like, are lesbians immune to shotguns and that’s why nothing hit Violet?? Am I only learning this now??"

I made this joke as a way to show how absurd the whole thing with Abel's gun was, I was being hyperbolic, didn't think twice about it, right? I post the T5F, it's well received, I'm already planning for the next week's T5F.... but then I got the first anon. It was mostly in all caps yelling at me for being lesbophic, hating Violet, telling me to shut the fuck up and get out, etc.

Here's the deal, if this person was genuinely upset with my bad throwaway joke about Violet, then that's fair. If they had sent me an ask that was like "Hey, that joke you made about Violet made me uncomfortable, you shouldn't make jokes about lesbians like that, especially if you're not a lesbian." then I would've responded with an apology and a promise to do better. Because yeah, I am truly sorry if that did rub some the wrong way, and I've tried to watch myself, make sure I'm not making jokes like that after this whole thing happened, getting second opinions, doing what I can to not make anyone else feel uncomfortable.

That person didn't do that, they were aggressive and I've learned that aggressive anons are not worth responding to, so I didn't. But back in that old discord server, I used to share those anons with the group and we would talk about them. This person sent me another ask that was super passive aggressive, I remember it going something like, "hey bestie when are you going to respond to my ask calling you out for being lesbophic?" which I shared with the group to get their take on the joke and this anon.

As we discussed this, more anons kept coming in from the same person, all about the same thing, written the same way, all aggressive.

It stopped being all fun and games when the asks started responding to the things I was saying in the chat. We figured out that either this person was in our chat, or someone in chat was sending them everything I was saying.

What's funny is we all had a clear guess on who it was- someone joined the server under the most generic name of like "Anna Smith," they had clouis fanart as their picture, and they were never online... until that night. That night was the first time they have ever shown up as online, they were online the entire time we were talking about this, and when Pi messaged them, they responded but then went offline and the asks stopped coming in.

Like... cut and dry, right? They got caught. It was clearly this random person who was never online, who never interacted with us, who randomly joined and was in the server for I dunno... weeks?

Maybe it was them. I don't actually know and I never will, and it made me so paranoid to be in the group that I eventually left.

But the part that gets me the most? This anon made me feel like I had to explain myself to the chat about my sexuality, something I never shared here on tumblr or with the group for personal reasons.

The ask that kickstarted the realization that this anon was spying on our chat simply asked "are you wlw?"

which again, I didn't publicly answer, but brought to chat because I was pretty sure this person was expecting/hoping for me to say I'm straight so they could have their "GOTCHA" moment, y'know? or they got ahead of themselves and had an "oh shit, what if she's not straight?" moment after calling me lesbophobic, a bitch, whatever other insults they called me that I can't remember.

After I shared that, I felt like I had to justify my sexuality? in a way? I don't know how to describe it, it felt a little bit like I was in a corner with ample room to get out but I had to decide which direction to go but once I went, there was no going back. I was worried that my friends would end up thinking that I was just some straight person making jokes about lesbians, that I didn't respect queer women because I wasn't giving the anon what they wanted... So I told the truth that yeah, I am wlw, I'm bisexual.

Then I got an ask that was something like "and being bi isn't the same as being lesbian, you can't talk about lesbians" so on, they said something about how no one jokes about Clementine's bisexuality [which isn't true, people joke about Clementine being bi all the time and if I had made the same exact joke about Clem instead of Violet, then I bet that anon wouldn't have said anything to me] so don't make them about Violet, same stuff they've said before... which set off alarm bells because it was almost like they saw exactly what I typed in chat.

It's just not something I put on display, y'know? My bisexuality is mine, it's personal, and that was definitely not the way I wanted to tell my friends in chat but it's how it went, it's how people found out, and now here we are.

I'm pretty sure all of us were weirded out, uncomfortable, it was.... an experience, lemme tell you.

....so does this count as iconic? sksksks

Miguel Diaz is Daniel LaRusso, or not...

It's no surprise that Cobra Kai makes A LOT of comparisons and paralallels, but I wanna talk specifically the Miguel's and Daniel's type of character, which makes us think they represent each other, but here is why I don't think it's that simple.

Alright, both just moved in the beginning of the story and there's already a big difference in how we're presented to these characters, in the first scene we see Daniel closely, he's in a bad humor, he didn't want to move, he's complaning and he kicks the door, while Miguel comes smiling to talk to Johnny, and after being treated really badly, he wishes him a good day. Both find a sensei who turns out to be a father figure for them.

In terms of fighting they are both skinny and weak, really don't know how to fight, and here the differences gets more obvious. In the first fight they get into, Miguel doesn't react at all (except for calling Kyler an asshole, but he quickly says it was nothing), while Daniel not only tries to give Ali her boombox back, but after being pushed by Johnny tries more than once to hit him, untill he does and ends up getting his ass kicked. I do realize that the enviromment is different and Daniel wanted to impress Ali, but still that's something that keeps reapenting itself.

They also share a moment where their (not yet) senseis deffend them, and while Miguel is getting beat for (not on propose) stoping thoses kids from buying beer, Daniel gets beat by pissing Johnny off, and "starting" the fight by throwing (on propose) water on him.

When Daniel starts having lessons with Mr. Miyagi, he questions the trainning, gets mad at him on the fourth day, and has to learn how to be pacient. There is also that iconic scene when he's learning how to punch, and Miyagi says he dances too much and talks too much. Miguel is the complete oposite, he never questions Johnny, even when he's doing hard work fixing the dojo (even though that had nothing to do with the trainning like at Miyagi-Do), in fact he asks Johnny if there's a propper way to clean the windows, to which Johnny replies "Whatever, I don't care, just do what's easiest." and tells him to clean to bathroom, although he doesn't want to, he just says "Ok.".

The motivation is also something very important to consider, while Miguel truly wants to learn self defense because he was being directly attacked, Daniel wants to learn karate for revenge. I guess we can all agree that LaRusso is a natural Cobra (after all he did join it in part III), while Diaz would fit really well in Miyagi-Do. That's what makes the sensei-student dynamic work so well in both cases, they're opposites, Myiagi teachs Daniel how to control himself, which not only helps him keep out of trouble (or at least it's supposed to), but it also shapes who he is. While Lawrence teaches Miguel how to be more confident, and even agressive, which in the beggining causes him problems (like with Sam, but that's a whole other soap opera), but after he finds the ballance, the creed that Cobra Kai is built upon is what makes him pull through the surgery, and the recovery so well.

They both need their senseis to show them a different way, and one of the coolest things I think, is the loyalty they have for them. Now you may say that Daniel joined Cobra Kai while living with Mr. Miyagi, but after he realized what he did, he regreted and never did anything like that again, and he lives 'till the present by Miyagi's philosophies and wondering what he would do in that certain situation. Miguel does say he doesn't want to see he's sensei anymore, but he's obsviously disapointed because of what happened to him, and still he quickly makes truce, and stays loyal no matter what.

Now I'd like to walk you through some visual references that makes it all make more sense:

Now, even though Miguel used Daniel's kick, as you can see, they are mirrored, and I don't think this represents only that Diaz is on Johnny's side, but that they are have same character, but they're still opposites.

Here they were in a similiar position, Daniel could kill Chozen, and Miguel could break Robby's arm, funny enough Miguel's scene is much darker while Daniel's has a funny tone, but anyways, as you can see they have very similar injuries, but once again, it's mirrored.

In a nutshell, I guess you could say each of them have two completly different instincts, with a common background, and with the help of their senseis they try to find ballance.

I've been spending an unhealthy amount of time lately thinking back to that Pokémon movie where Ash turns to stone and everyone cries and he gets magic'd back to life. And I have things to say:

1. The Title

Okay so the film's full title (at least the copy I own which is Australian) is Pokémon: The First Movie - Mewtwo Strikes Back (1998). But the thing is, there has been little to no indication about who Mewtwo is or that they even exist, so the second half of the title implies this is a RETURN or possibly a SEQUEL to the first appearance of Mewtwo.... but it makes a point to say that this is the FIRST Pokémon movie! So why the FUCK would you name the first movie in this universe as a sequel?!?

2. Fuck Mew

Apparently this is an unpopular opinion since Mew is heralded as one of the oldest - and more powerful - Pokémon around, but what good are they?

(And yes I refuse to call the Pokémon it, they're non binary or naught at all they don't give no fuck about gender norms)

Seriously though, Mew is goddamn useless. All they do is chill in this pink bubble gum bowl and blinks at you. Every time Mew cocks their head to the side I get angry because it's like... you're supposed to be a GOD POKEMON WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOU IRRELEVANT CAT. It makes me so irrationally angry and i don't even know why anymore.

3. The REBOOT.

I'm not even mad about the artistic liberties that were taken in the uncomfortably awkward 3D animation reboot from 2019 - which was legit just a shot for shot remake of the 1998 original but worse. I'm not kidding, look at this shit.

And they have the AUDACITY to name the reboot Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back - Evolution. You call this EVOLUTION?!? You took the heart and soul out of the original and made it painful to relive. Don't believe me? Remember the iconic sequence from the 1998 OG of the Pokemon fighting their twins, aka 'brothers' on the battlefield? And a big point is made about the dangers of war and the mindlessness of violence? (Link is above)

WELL GUESS WHAT SONG THEY REMOVED FROM THE 2019 REMAKE!!!!!!!

So instead of watching Pokemon senselessly slaughter one another while the poignant and poetic score reflects in one of the most effective and powerful ways possible, we watch this... in dead silence.

All significance is dead. Even the magic from the original film is completely lost, because the studio cared more about quantity over quality.

So yeah, I have some minor rage over some of the logistics from the original film, as well as major rage over the entire Evolution remake.

So, to finish things off, lets talk:

4. MEWTWO IS THE GREATEST.

Seriously, the character growth? The power? The story? The emotional journey? ASGDFGHJLK

Mewtwo is EASILY more powerful and badass than Mew and he has such an amazing story from born in tubes and forced to fight and kill, to the revolt and his new direction in life, to his understanding of the virtues of paccifism?
