Recently, you and Silver had both gone to the Christmas Market in the town below NRC for a date night, and it was definitely a wonderful experience. Sure, it was cold, but the lights as well as the smells and the vendors made it all worthwhile. Anyways, the point is, you saw a vendor that was selling gingerbread house kits, and you came up with the idea of doing a competition with Diasomnia.

You bought two and you both headed back to his dorm, where you asked the group, including Malleus (which made him delighted), if they would like to participate. Lilia said that he would be the judge in your little competition, and Sebek was all too happy to be teamed up with the great Crowned Prince Malleus Draconia of Briar Valley. You were paired up with your boyfriend, as you should be, and you both immediately set out the different items in the kit.

The kit included 6 pieces of gingerbread rectangles, and 2 people. You wanted to design them after you and Silver, and he let you after you finished building the house. To say that the icing was messy would be an understatement. You had it all over your shirt, and you even smudged some on Silver’s nose as a joke.

Surprisingly, Malleus and Sebek were in a pretty similar state, and the latter seemed very close to yelling at the piping bag for daring to smear itself upon the great Waka-sama. However, the former was having a lot of fun with building their house. 

Lilia was walking around and watching both teams, like it was a holiday baking show. He giggled upon seeing that the two knights were taking this competition very seriously, and then he whipped out a fake microphone that he seemingly had in his back pocket to ask both teams questions. He was genuinely trying to make it seem like a holiday baking show.

“So, Prefect, what are you doing to that poor gingerbread man?

“When I was younger, there was a movie I used to watch: Shrek. There was a character that pushed all fairytale people out of his kingdom and was torturing a gingerbread man to get their location. I’m recreating that scene with this extra gingerbread man.”

“Oh, what fun! Although, I do not believe I’ve ever heard of such a film!”

“It’s from my world, but it is a childhood classic.”

After 30 minutes more of frustration, jokes, and interviews, both teams were finally finished with their gingerbread houses. You let out a sigh and stretched your back, making it pop from how long you spent hunched over the cookies. Silver looked at you and smiled, happy to finally be done, and he went over to a chair to take a nap.

Sebek and Malleus’s house looked really good, no doubt from the half-fae’s desire to make it perfect. The lines were sharp and the gumdrops, candycanes, and other candies that were used were meticulously placed to make it comprehensible. You and your boyfriend made a cottage of sorts that had a very homey feel to it, reminding you of Gingy from Shrek.

It came as no shock to you that the other team won, but you shook hands and bid them a ‘good game’ as you turned to Silver, who was still slouched in the chair. You kneeled down to wake him up and take him to his bed so that his back or neck wouldn’t be hurt. He was slightly stumbling, being only slightly awake, but you eventually made it to his room.

Making sure he was tucked in all the way, you gave him a kiss on the forehead as his eyes closed for the night. However, as you turned to walk away, you felt his hand find your arm, and with his strength he pulled you into his bed next to him.

“Stay,” Was all he said, and you smiled as you got comfortable, ready to sleep next to your lover.

"They really want me to be the Polka Princess?" Joker jumped up and down, her braided pigtails bobbing behind her. "I thought you could only do that as a teenager, wow!!"

"Well," her father, Wild, chuckled. "Apparently they decided that one little eleven-year-old was good enough to represent the whole accordion school." He pressed a fingertip to her nose, making her giggle.

"I really did practice hard," she said, trying to look serious.

"I know you did, sweetie. I hear you practice every day." Wild straightened himself up, and adjusted his riding jacket. "And that means you'll get to play for the graduates, this year. Isn't that a lucky thing?"

"And wear the tiara??" Joker asked, her eyes shining.

"And wear the tiara."

"Wow!!"

Wild patted her on the head. "I'm really, really proud of you, kiddo. Now let's head home and tell your brother and momma. Get your helmet on, and belt up in the sidecar. Maybe we can convince your ma to make your fave for dinner tonight...."

"Pops, do princesses eat carbonara?"

"I think mine does."

"So, Mister Katzen, you understand that this will be an incredible honor for your dear Nana." The general nodded solemnly at the cat-eared man, and lowered his cup of tea back onto its saucer. "Now, it won't be for several years, but the young Prince has been rather insistent on filling his coterie with young blood."

"Young blood, indeed." Tosh gritted his teeth. "Nana is still a child, General Vanrouge. What does the Prince need one so young for?"

"Nothing, yet." Lilia placed the cup and saucer back onto the table in front of him. "However, we are offering certain promising youngsters these educational opportunities. My own ward is among them, and will be attending a very prestigious school outside of Briar Valley. The Prince himself will also be in attendance there; this will be an opportunity for them to attend classes with youth from all over Twisted Wonderland. A chance to make friends with those outside of fae society."

"She's already got one of those," Tosh huffed, taking another sip from his own cup. "But a free education, hm? Along with the Prince...."

Both men turned their heads towards Nana, who had been sitting quietly, using magic to stack a plateful of cookies into a tower. Lilia leaned towards her, and pushed a lock of black hair behind one of his ears. "What do you think, Nana? Do you want to meet other children who can do magic, like you? And go to school with them?"

Nana tilted her head, and moved one cookie towards herself. She plucked it out of the air. "Is it going to be fun?"

Tosh blinked. "It'll be hard work, little one. But with others your age... yes. I venture to say it would be fun."

Lilia's eyes sparkled as his gaze met hers. "I will guarantee, Nana, that you will be around others who want as much fun as you. Myself included. Will you join us?"

"Only if you really want to, Nana."

She looked between the red-eyed man and her father, and shrugged. "The Prince picked me, so I'm gonna go. Not everyone gets picked by princes. Maybe I'll get to be one, too!"

Tosh pinched the bridge of his nose. "Nana, we've discussed this, it's a title you're born to, and—"

Lilia laughed, cutting him off. "She dreams big, Mister Katzen! I know she'll fit right in with the others. Again, she'll be in very good company. And will still spend a great deal of time with you, too." He got to his feet. "I'll come round again in two weeks, with more details for you both. You'll have a special place in the new kingdom, Katzen family. We cannot wait to welcome you."

Livia walked through the Valley of Thorns, carrying a bag with some of her stuff inside. She sighed and stretched, wearing her winter clothing. She walked up a path, heading to a cottage in the middle of the woods. She knocked, having not informed her parents that she was coming. She at first wanted to stay at the school due to the weather control it had, but she wanted to come home and spend time with her family. Sam also understood and said next year he'd bring her to his hometown so they could spend the Winter Break together and he'd show her around. She knocked again, footsteps coming from the stairs. "Here I come!" Thea opened the door, her eyes widening in surprise. "LILIA! LIVIAS HERE!"Thea called taking Livias bag and setting it down.

Lilia came downstairs and smiled, hugging her. "This is a surprise"Lilia smiled. "Yeah, but can I ask you two something..."Livia smiled. "Go ahead, what is it?"Lilia asked. Livia turned and stepped down the stairs. "GUYS! COME ON!"Livia called. Epel, Ortho, Cater, Sheryn, Kalim, Azul, Solem and Elliot came out, waving to Lilia and Thea. "Hi Mrs and Mr Vanrouge"Elliot greeted. "Can my friends stay here for Winter Break, we'll have a sleepover the whole week down in the living room"Livia smiled. "Oh yeah"Livia says. She tossed a grape into Jaseems mouth, laughing when he managed to catch it.

Livia and Elliot laughed, smiling at Cater in amusement. "And posted!"Cater grinned. "Oh my Great Seven! "Oh uhm Mum, Papi! I have two more friends coming over!"Livia called. Her parents laughed and nodded, a knock coming from the door. Livia and Elliot got up, heading to the door and opening it, finding Andy and Eric there. "Hey guys, come in!"Livia beamed. The four returned to the living room, rejoining the fun. "Did I tell you guys about the time Sebek mistook me for someone else because it was so dark in Diasomnia!"Livia laughed Jingles appearing and sitting on her shoulder. Elliot smiled, handing Jingles a cookie. "Oh yeah, I remember you told me about that! He screamed so loud it woke everyone up!"Sheryn laughed holding a handful of grapes. "I swear you'd be able to hear it from the other dorms!"Kalim laughed. "Sometimes I think I do hear him scream from my dorm"Azul chuckled smirking cheekily.

Livia laughed, snapping her fingers together, getting her and her friends all into their pajamas. "Jaseem what's it like being a prince and the cousin of Kalim!"Sheryn asked. "I get alot of arranged marriages, and I hated them!"Jaseem snorted rolling his eyes. "Sounds like it!"Andy laughed Cater joining him. "Ugh! You won't believe the women I went through and rejected!"Jaseem sighed shaking his head. "You won't believe how many boys I had at my feet as a child"Livia smirked hugging Po close. "She told me, she had almost all the boys here at her feet"Epel sighed. Livia looked over at her parents and waved, a small smile on her face, earning a happy wave from her mother. "I'm so glad she's made a lot of friends"Thea mumbled. "Me too"Lilia smiled rubbing her back.

The two retreated to their room, letting Livia and her friends goof off. "Okay, Secret or Truth!"Livia grinned. "Truth!"Elliot says. "Who do you like most out of us all?"Livia smiled. "I'd have to say Epel!"Elliot says. "Wow! So rude!"Sheryn grinned. Laughter came from them Shadow and Silver smiling as they watched before leaving the laughing kids be. "Liv, Secret or Truth!"Sheryn grinned. "Truth definitely!"Livia says knowing how cheeky Sheryn could be. "Have you ever kissed a boy besides Jack"Sheryn smirked. "If I say yes, what would your reactions be"Livia says. "GREAT SEVEN! WHO IS IT?!"Elliot gasped grinning. "I would like to know the answer to that riddle as well..."Solem smiled. Livia blushed, covering her face as her friends pestered her, Cater recording for evidence.

"I kissed Sebek once in the cheek"Livia says. "SEBEK?!"Epel laughed. "AS IN SEBEK ZIGVOLT!"Sheryn cackled. She nodded, flustered by the teasing remarks. "Ooooo girl!"Sheryn grinned. Jaseem chuckled, grinning at her amused. "Hey guys, what should we do tomorrow?"Kalim asked. "I can show you around the Valley!"Livia smiled. "Sounds good, I've always wanted to explore new places"Andy smiled the others nodding in agreement. "I know some food places to visit!"Livia beamed. She nodded to her friends and got up, Sheryn and Elliot following her upstairs to her parents room. "We're heading to bed"Livia smiled. "Goodnight baby, and goodnight to your friends"Thea smiled. Livia smiled back and returned downstairs with Sheryn and Elliot, finding her friends waiting for them. She laid beside Jaseem, smiling slightly then falling asleep.
