currently mentally living in that split second delay, the little thing assad does, when armand looks over or up at daniel sometimes, after the façade has come off, like he braces himself for a split second and then makes eye contact
(here the blink-and-you'll-miss-it second he looks over-and-then-up)
because yes, he's been called out on his lies and daniel is seeing through all the bullshit so effortlessly and (from his pov) cruelly even as a lowly human who shouldn't even dare to speak so boldly to an Ancient, but also... Daniel is SEEING him so EFFORTLESSLY even as a lowly HUMAN and it's never fucking happened to him before in his five hundred plus years of life.
he also does it immediately AFTER looking at him sometimes. like he's afraid if he sustains eye contact longer than a second daniel will be able to read him right back to amadeo and even further back to arun - which, as we've established, daniel fucking does

wait wait wait, so we had: a gorgeously diverse, complicated story about the folly of the Jedi, set against the backdrop of truly fascinating Force witch lore and a potential deep-dive into the real fallout of suppressing emotion, complete with totally rad lightsaber fights, grayscale characters all around, and the coolest fucking helmet in the history of the franchise, all tucked into the world of Star Wars, which makes money simply by existing--and they cancelled it?? i am going to explode

i know you could explain it all with rule of funny or ''they did it on purpose as a gag'' but
sans has the uncanny ability to read your face like a book and know exactly what you're thinking with a glance. he also constantly misses papyrus' jokes and treats them like genuine questions.
papyrus talks to you over the phone and somehow manages to conceptualize where you are and what you're doing from your tone alone. if, however, you gave him a picture of asgore and toriel, the only way he could tell them apart would be by their clothes.
tone-deaf sans/face blind papyrus. they're both autistic in perfectly mirrored ways so when they talk they keep missing each other by a hairbreadth

Gentle reminder to everyone that Dead Boy Detectives has virtually nothing to do with Neil Gaiman.
He has explicitly said that he has no claim to it and that it is Steve Yockey's show. Calling for its cancelation only hurts Yockey, Schwartz, the wonderful and talented actors who've worked on it, and LGBT+ fans who are excited to finally see stories made for queer people play out onscreen.
Neil Gaiman sucks, yes, and his victims should be heard. But he's not ours, he never was ours, and I think everyone needs to remember that.
Edit: here's a Twitter thread with a more thorough breakdown:

actually i love it when the characters are all lying. i love it when they all have secrets and none of them trust each other. i love being given clues that solve puzzles i haven't even been presented with yet. i also love it when i get chills watching a scene without even knowing what it means, and when i do know what it means, i get even more chills. i love theorizing and thinking and solving and coming up with possibilities of where a story might be going. i love it and i will do it for free, for fun, for no real reason.
this is a mystery appreciation post!! if you appreciate mysteries and secrets and stories that slowly unravel before you, please interact!!!

eh went ahead and cancelled my @netflix
yes cancelling dead boy detectives was the last straw but their track record for renewing shows is so goddamn awful regardless.
i can always pick it up again if they release something good, gay, and finished, but bridgerton and heartstopper aint worth it lmfao

also, everyone is talking about how Simon has this huge capacity for empathy this this and that about how empathy is so integral to his character as if this guy didn't just spend the first two episodes of this show torturing a goose to death
