so I commissioned a wilt plushie and it's been 2 months since I made my first payment and a month and a half since I made the final payment and they said approximately 3.5 months to completion but it was unclear if that means 3.5 months since I placed the commission or 3.5 months since I finish paying for the commission but either way I still haven't gotten any updates on it BUT ALSO judging by their social media, it looks like they just finished all the plushies they had been working on since before I commissioned and are just starting a new batch of commissions now so how long do I wait until I shoot them a message asking for a progress update?

#books#jo walton has done it again#almost the only reason i ever look at tor.com these days is to read her monthly roundup of the books she's read#because a good chunk of her reading is the type of classics i love#including a lot of forgotten light classics of the early 20th century#this was one of those#mentioned in a column from last year that i happened to read the other day#with a review that said this should be one of those classics that everyone knows and reads#instead of being this completely forgotten book#and since it happened to be on hoopla (a common perk of these types of book recs from her) i read it#i don't think it's all-time classic great#but it's a solid middlebrow novel#the beginning was a bit of rough going but after the major part of the plot kicked off it become rather lovely#because there was a lot of the above#explorations of the value of work and friendships and relationships#and because of things like the above quote the central relationship is one of my favorite romances of the year#it's a solid relationship built on friendship and mutual respect#with both of them having stories and emotional journeys beyond the romance#reminded me a little bit of gaskell in some ways

#my back hourts ough. and i totally froze my ass of standing in that queue in the rain for 2 and a half hours#but well it was worth it for the spot right by the stage!!!!!!#and oh my gosh. oh mmy god. this was so!!!!!!!#well first of all it was so damn fun i was bouncing and singing along the whole time#and there were so many great moments even besides the fact that the setlist was AHHHFHG SO FUCKING GOOD?????#and it actually got even more crazy during the second sent it was all just one 'no way' moment after another#and my pal got the setlist i'm so happy for them..... but uyeah i have so much to talk about#i'm totally making that proper concert review later and going into detail on all the stuff#and i actually got many more videos than i planned because as i said there were so many 'NO WAY i gotta record this' moments#like i actually don't know if i should just put them on youtube and link them here or what#because i have the entirety of spy recorded among other things#well first i'll need to make sure that the videos came out ok but i probably shouldn't have to worry about that much#thankfully my brother's phone is pretty well suited for this kind of stuff unlike mine#anyway will get into all that later like later next week even maybe so when i'm back home#in the meantime i'll have to reflect on all this anazingness. oh my god this was so awesome.#as my pal said it's so easy to undestand now why there are people who go to hunderds of their concerts and never get bored of it all#so worth the wait i love you tmbg i had so much fun aaaaahhhhh ok going to bed now i'm so tired but very happy#goosepost

#james talks#riverdale#miss the whole crew really but Betty especially bc Lili was so magnificent#god as perfect as the finale was (and it really was one of the greatest finales ever) i wish we had gotten another season#they had as good a run as a show on that network could hope for but there are few shows on there that eclipsed the network like Riverdale#like the list includes like. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Gossip Girl. and ig The Vampire Diaries. and that's it.#(that list is for shows almost exclusively produced by the CW. CXG DID have other producing companies but it was largely the CW).#no show will ever quite be like Riverdale ever again and no show will ever reach the heights it did.#especially not on their shoestring CW budget.#like honestly i just need more Riverdale in my life.#like RAS and the writing team found such a great way to turn their weaknesses into strengths.#as an article on the show once said [paraphrased]: it was a great show that was really good at pretending to be bad.#even now nobody gets the show like i do.#everyone thinks it's some silly little show about crazy shit with crazy plotlines and pretty lighting and aesthetics but no substance—#when in reality it's an incredible pulpy anti-fascist text questioning the role of authority using those aesthetics for a larger purpose#but i'll save the real analysis for whenever i get around to actually making the Riverdale video essay i need in my life#unless Quinton Reviews or SuperEyepatchWolf beat me to it first. they're the only people who i think will actually understand the show.#like SuperEyepatchWolf's video on the show is already pretty fun even if it's a little dismissive of the substance of the show—#(tbf to him it only covered up until the S05 mid-season finale and S06 hadn't released yet)#but like he at least feels like he gets the spirit of the show. especially with the wrestling comparison.#and i hope i don't need to explain why Quinton would get it.#anyway. i need the Riverdale crew back.

everyone lied to me about the bergman brothers these books are kind of bad
#listen!!! this is my fault because i SHOULD HAVE KNOWN after the dumpster fire that is magnolia parks#btw this is nowhere NEAR that bad#but my point is that people say BOTH are just like the addicted series and those people are STUPID#(sorry if you’re reading this and you’ve ever said that. ily)#like magnolia parks was basically unreadable for me i hated it. and i quite enjoy these bergman books so this is an unfair comparison#also i really love chloe liese’s representation and that goes a long way in saving these books tbh#with both series’ i KNEW i OBVIOUSLY wouldn’t enjoy them as much as the addicted series so i tried to manage my expectations#and yet in the back of my heart i secretly hoped i would finally get that same buzz again#it’s obvious to me that any series where each couple has one standalone book will never even come close#i knew what the vibes of this series would be and i was right. it’s still pretty good but the books aren’t Great#i think the 3rd one about the already married couple will be my favorite but maybe another one of these books will surprise me#of course i ordered them all ahead of time like an idiot 🙃 i never do that and i don’t even like the covers#the reviews for the series are so high i just thought there was no chance of it missing#going straight from my hands to the donation box unfortunately#mine#bergman brothers
