So I recently posted on facebook to my friends and family that I changed my name and got top surgery. Everything is going wonderful and I'm getting such lovely responses from everyone! I was just thrown off this morning because I got this text from a relative:

I'm like okay "welcome to the party"... I'm sitting there thinking is Dave trans and no one told me?? Has he been stealth for the longest time?? Has he had top surgery?? I talked in my post about being genderfluid is he also genderfluid??

Then I showed the text to my girlfriend and she was immediately like "he thinks you're a man." The mystery was solved, I didn't even think of that.

It was a really sweet message, I just wanted to share this little story because I thought it was hilarious that my brain did not catch that, especially because I never said I was a man in my post. 😂

Sometimes that person's pronouns will include they/them and in that specific case you are allowed to keep using those pronouns for that person. In any case where you learn a persons pronouns and that person doesn't use they/them, you should no longer use those pronouns for that person. If you continue to use they/them pronouns knowing that person doesn't use them, you are now misgendering that person. Kindly stop doing that please. Thank you, I love you.
