It was far too easy for Impa to get close to the latest incarnation of the Hero and Princess. Prove that the principle of the local school they go to faked his documents and actually managed to hide said evidence during the last purge and bam! She has the job of school principal. And sure, it was because of ulterior motives, but she probably would've done so anyways.
So she could see the way the two Chosen by the Goddesses hover around the third child, Tsuna, in their midst and, judging by the amount of sealed power that was one push away from flooding him body, she could guess that a third will be joining them. Even if it's only for a cycle. (She selfishly hopes he stays with them and becomes a part of the cycle. Two is well and good but three heroes will always trump all, and it would do wonders for the mental stability of all involved.)
And as she saw others begin to gravitate towards them (children with the inheritance of those the Gorons and Kokiris blessed, a child who feels the calling of the water, and their little Skylark who looks to the sky and yearns), she started preparing some, excuses, for them.
That, and gifts. Zelda will probably appreciate a Sheikah Slate. Link, well Epona is getting restless waiting. Little Tsuna would probably appreciate some ruby encrusted items that will enhance the flames bubbling beneath his skin.
Takeshi would probably love a Zora Earing so he can swim to his heart's content without needing to come up for air. Ryohei and Kyoko would love the Red Stone Earings for the heat protection.
Haru and Chrome, well, she's certain a certain Guardian Skull Kid already has some gifts in mind for them. She doesn't want to steal his thunder, especially with the Ocarina of Time and Masks at his disposal.
Little Hayato, the Lense of Truth. It will ensure he's protected by illusions and deceptions after all.
And Hibari would love a paraglider. She knows it.
“Have you ever noticed the new principal keeps watching us?”
Zelda hummed from behind him, her fingers tangled in his hair and weaving another little braid in among his spikes. She claimed it helped her think, but considering she had joined Tsuna in watching Link practice swordplay with a stick, he doubted she was thinking about much more than he was for once.
(Not that either of them minded. With his uniform jacket tossed onto the grass and his shirt unbuttoned because he claimed it got in his way, Link looked radiant. It would have been a crime for them to pay attention to anything else.)
“I think I know her… knew her?” Zelda’s fingers stilled for a second, and Tsuna tipped his head back into her hands enough to give her an upside down smile just to make her laugh. She did pushing his head back upright and continuing on the braid. “Something tells me she’s… good. And more than what she seems.”
He snorted. “Aren’t we all?”
She tugged lightly on the now finished braid and pressed closer to hook her chin over Tsuna’s shoulder. He wasn’t nearly as cold anymore, not since Reborn had put a bullet in his head and released the inferno that laid sleeping in his soul, but he allowed himself to soak up her warmth and the warmth of the sun. Closing his eyes, he could smell her perfume, silent princess, a flower nearly driven to extinction but brought back in full force generations ago. He smelled something else too, grass and sunlight and sweat, seconds before Link flopped down over Tsuna’s legs with his head resting over his heart.
Zelda laughed as Tsuna sucked wind, opening his eyes to glare down at Link only to find those dancing blue eyes already looking back at him.
“Something’s coming.” Link’s fingers in a blur, but Tsuna had spent years learning to keep up with him… even if he was still pretty terrible with a sword, or stuck as the case may be.
“Something’s here, or did you forget the Hitman that took over my mom’s… that stole the room at the end of the hall?” He asked, smile faltering for just a second as a familiar freezing feeling built in his chest.
Link wormed his way up until his head was resting on Tsuna’s opposite shoulder while Zelda pressed herself even closer to his back, and Tsuna could breathe again.
“Reborn is just the start,” Zelda said in that way so full of certainty Tsuna couldn’t even think of arguing with her. “More will follow. Some good and some…” she shook her head and moved to press her forehead to Tsuna’s shoulder with a groan. “I don’t know.”
“We’ve got this,” Link’s voice was soft as ever, and so rough that Tsuna mindlessly shoved his half finished drink into his hand even as he nodded.
“Of course we’ve got this, but that doesn’t mean the old lady staring at us is any less weird.”
Zelda hummed again. “What’s she going to do? Blow us up? Everything will be fine.”
