honestly sometimes just acting bigger helps. i mean that by using voice, body language etc to seem like you have "bigger status" than you actually have helps, i have been in tough situations with men but have gotten away by just acting aggressive enough even though i am someone a man could kill with a fist. though i have very low voice for a woman which i think has helped.
