On 1st November, it is announced that VCARB will be rebranded as Racing Bulls in 2025

Sprint Race Highlights:

On Lap 10, McLaren gives Piastri team orders to give Norris DRS
On Lap 21, smoke is seen coming out of Nico Hulkenberg’s car
With the risk of a yellow flag, McLaren tell Piastri and Norris to switch positions. On Lap 22, Norris passes Piastri for P1
The Virtual Safety Car is deployed on Lap 23 of 24, after Hulkenberg’s car ends up stranded at the side of the track
Verstappen finishes the race in P3, just behind the McLarens, but is given a 5-second penalty for a Safety Car infringement and drops to P4
Sprint Race Results:
1st Place: Lando Norris
2nd Place: Oscar Piastri
3rd Place: Charles Leclerc
Grand Prix Qualifying Highlights:
Heavy rain following the sprint race means that Grand Prix qualifying is postponed until Sunday 3rd November
In the opening stages of Q1, the yellow flag is brought out by Liam Lawson, who spun off the track and into the gravel, but is able to make it back to the track. The yellow flag is brought out again when Zhou Guanyu replicates Lawson’s spin
Carlos Sainz and George Russell narrowly avoid making contact
Lewis Hamilton’s lap time is deleted, dropping him down to 19th position
With 8 minutes of Q1 to go, a red flag is brought out after Colapinto goes into the barriers
Norris squeaks through to Q2, knocking Hamilton out in 16th position
In Q2, Russell brings out the yellow flag in Sector 2 after spinning, but is able to rejoin the track
A few minutes later, Sainz crashes coming out of the Senna-S, bringing out the red flag
Following the restart, Lance Stroll brings out the red flag after crashing into a wall with 42 seconds to go. That means that both Red Bulls are eliminated in Q2. With Verstappen’s 5-place grid penalty, this means he will start the race in 17th
The start of Q3 is delayed whilst Stroll’s car is recovered from the track
Fernando Alonso brings out the red flag after crashing into the barriers
The session restarts with 6 minutes left on the clock
A yellow flag is shown after Yuki Tsunoda went off at Turn 4, but he is able to get going again
Moments later, a red flag is brought out following a big crash from Alex Albon. Albon is ok but the back of his car is completely destroyed
A sensational lap from Tsunoda puts him in P3 following the restart
Norris claims pole position followed by Russell. A sensational lap from Tsunoda following the restart puts him in P3, followed by Esteban Ocon and Lawson
Following his crash, Albon will sit out the race despite qualifying in 7th
Sainz will start the race from the pit lane
Race Highlights:
Following qualifying, the rain stops allowing the track to dry, but the weather radars show that the rain would begin again around half an hour into the lap
Stroll locks up on the formation lap and spins off track. The Aston Martin driver subsequently beaches his car in the gravel and retires from the Grand Prix, which results in an aborted start
While the drivers should have remained in their grid slots, Norris and the vast majority of the field go around the circuit for a second time, which is against the rules. He will be investigated for a potential breach of the regulations
Norris fails to retain the lead of the race at the first corner, allowing Russell to move up to P1
Sergio Perez spins off track at Turn 8 and rejoins the race in last place
Verstappen makes his way up to P7, ahead of Piastri, by Lap 10
Bearman receives a 10-second penalty for causing a collision with Colapinto on the opening laps
Hamilton runs wide allowing Sainz and Bearman past. Sainz subsequently runs wide on Lap 23 and drops back behind Hamilton
On Lap 25, Lawson and Piastri make contact causing Lawson to spin at the first corner. Piastri receives a 10-second penalty for the collision
On Lap 28, the rain suddenly begins to fall heavily, which causes Hulkenberg to spin at Turn 1, bringing out the Virtual Safety Car
The track is soon deemed too dangerous due to the rain and a full Safety Car is brought out to assess the situation
A Red Flag is brought out on Lap 32 after Colapinto crashes into the barriers at Turn 13, destroying the Williams
Hulkenberg is given the black flag for receiving outside assistance while rejoining the race after his spin on Lap 28. This means he is disqualified from the race
Race Control decide to conduct a rolling start to restart the race. Ocon maintains the lead into the first corner ahead of Verstappen
Following the restart, Bearman and Guanyu go off the track at the back of the grid
On Lap 34, Norris makes a mistake which allows Russell to get past up into 4th
The Safety Car is brought out again after Sainz crashes into barriers
The Safety Car ends on Lap 42. Verstappen takes the lead from Ocon and Norris goes wide at the first corner, dropping back to 7th. Alonso goes off into the grass in the final sector and rejoins the race in last place
Piastri lets Norris past into P6
Verstappen manages to maintain the lead and, despite a late charge from Russell, the two Alpines hold on to second and third to take a double podium
Race Results:
1st Place: Max Verstappen
2nd Place: Esteban Ocon
3rd Place: Pierre Gasly

Actually I'm not done here
Rating F1 drivers on how well I think they'd do line dancing:
Max Verstappen: like 6/10. Would do alright going slow, but would start mixing up left and right at tempo.
Checo Perez: 7-8/10. For some reason I feel like he'd have a secret talent for this.
Lando Norris: 4/10. Loses track of left and right very quickly. Ends up facing the wrong way.
Oscar Piastri: 5-6/10. Too stiff. Would be really good at remembering the sequence, though.
Charles Leclerc: 5/10. Gets frustrated when he starts messing up.
Carlos Sainz: 6/10. Gets distracted halfway through and starts competing with Charles, which makes him improve until they get caught in a gigglefest. It then becomes his next athletic obsession.
Lewis Hamilton: 7/10. A good sport. Perhaps not his rodeo, but he'd do alright.
George Russell: 5/10. Gangly. Keeps closing the space between him and the others on the dance floor. Would need some time to get comfortable, but would start improving.
Fernando Alonso: 7/10. Jokes are made about old knees. Actually not bad.
Lance Stroll: 4/10. Too chill.
Valterri Bottas: 8/10. Another one who I feel like has potential for genuine talent. Maybe it's the mustache + mullet.
Zhou Guanyu: 7/10. Doesn't pick it up the fastest, but gets pretty good by the end.
Alex Albon: 4/10. Not enjoying this.
Franco Colapinto: Like 5/10 for line dancing, but I feel like he'd have fun swing dancing.
Pierre Gasly: 5/10. Needs to loosen up.
Esteban Ocon: Either 3/10 or 7/10, and I feel like it depends on what dance.
Yuki Tsuonda: 5/10. Not his rodeo. Trips over his feet a few times, but starts figuring it out towards the end.
Liam Lawson: 6/10. Good sport. Don't see him as much of a dancer.
Kevin Magnussen: 5/10. Loses the timing at least once and almost collides with someone. Has a very cute father-daughter dance.
Nico Hulkenberg: 4/10. Again, doesn't strike me as much of a dancer.
Chaos Sport Castoff Corner:
Logan Sergeant: 8/10 but only for Footloose.
Daniel Riccardo: 8.5/10. Honorary Texan, likes to move and groove. Gets silly with it, but is actually pretty good.
Ollie Bearman: 4/10. If he gets confident, that goes way up.
They'll never do it. But I think it would be incredibly funny to send the f1 grid line dancing as an Austin promo thing.
#i feel like I should mention that I do not like footloose the song but the line dance I learned for it is pretty fun#f1#f1 grid 2024#austin gp 2024
