a year or two ago i saw an instagram meme that described disintegration by the cure as “ho scaring music” and i mean. Come on. i found the idea laughable for the longest time but now over these past six months i have been in the company of many people who only listen to top 40s hits from the past few years. im not exaggerating, that is all they listen to. and i keep thinking back to that instagram meme and i mean it’s still objectively wrong but i at least understand where they’re coming from now

#brot posts #music #sorry im not even trying to be weird about this #its just sitting in the midst of these conversations has me realizing im a vastly different person than them #which isnt even necessarily a bad thing like theyre all nice people i like them #its just so weirdly alienating like its not that deep its just music but when youre in a group of like 10 people #who are only talking about like fucking whatever celebs are popular now #and they turn to you to ask what you listen to #and its just like. Well.#its just like. such a weird experience and it keeps happening all the time #its like you really ONLY listen to these five artists. this one single genre??#i just dont understand its so fucking weird to me #how do you live like that #so yknow. maybe i understand now why someone would call disintegration by the cure ‘ho scaring music’#if theyre referring to people who solely listen to top 40s hits and literally nothingn else #frankly this keeps happening with media in general not even music theyre like oh x y z actors. x y z netflix shows #they ask me hey did you watch this show like no i HAVENTTTT #i dont do ANYTHINGGGGG
