Of all fanfics I've ever read, you have the best take on teenage Eremika, so I'd like to ask for your take on the following idea: Zeke and Levi know and despise each other. But Zeke not only tries to be the cool older brother, but he's also Eremika #1 shipper, tries to give his foolish lil bro some love advice. Meanwhile it's not that Levi hates Eren, but he's not really fond of him and doesn't really approve Mikasa dating him.

Eren and Mikasa have known each other their whole lives, but as they grew older it was obvious they had a thing for each other and Levi and Zeke engage in a proxy war of sorts over the dating life of their two lovesick teenagers, completely unaware that Eren and Mikasa are already getting together

So, I really love the idea of Zeke and Levi not having any idea at first that Eremika are nursing crushes on each other, because then we have the opportunity for Zeke to give Eren advice on how to woo his unnamed damsel while, meanwhile, Levi is warning Mikasa what cheesy shit to watch out for and talking shit about Eren's Zeke-inspired romantic gestures.

For instance, Zeke tells Eren to walk his unnamed love interest home from school and pick a flower for her on the way and maybe tuck it behind her ear if he's feeling bold and tell her it's almost as beautiful as her.

Mikasa comes home with a daisy or a cosmo or something wilting in her hair and Levi is like, "So your mystery boy just stole that out of someone else's yard and gave it to you?" He rolls his eyes. "Did he tell you the flower is as pretty as you? God. No imagination. Aim higher."

Then they find out who their respective teen relatives are crushing on and everything ramps up even more. Every time Eren comes over, Levi gives him some variation or another of the "What are your intentions for my little girl?" speech, while Zeke is already hard at work on the most overwrought, cringy promposal Shingeki High School has ever seen. They're wreaking havoc on Eremika's love lives and they're each trying their best to please their elder relatives, but all they really want is to do is occupy the same space as often as possible and hold hands. Like, Eren is over at Mikasa's house one day wearing a tunic and holding a lute because of some cockamamie idea Zeke has dreamed up, and he's standing down below on the lawn and she's at her window on the second story, looking down at him, and he says, "You know, Mikasa, all I really want is to do homework together and then spoon on the couch while we watch TV. I just like being with you, and the rehearsals for all these grand gestures are eating up my free time. Zeke had me going to lute lessons all month for this."

"I think Levi and the neighbors would appreciate an end to all the musical numbers," says Mikasa. "Levi might even warm up to you a little bit."

Eren flings the lute over his shoulder and it lands in the middle of the street, then he rips off the tunic, forgetting that he's not wearing a t-shirt underneath. He's standing there in the yard, shirtless and in a pair of his mom's old leggings, when Levi gets home from work.

"What the hell are you doing now?" Levi demands, getting out of his car with murder in his eyes because he almost ran over the lute and fucked up his alignment or whatever (I'm not much of a car person).

Eren, knowing when to cut his losses and run, shouts up at Mikasa, "I love you! I'll see you at school tomorrow!" and bolts.

"I love you, too!" she cries, leaning out the window and waving at him as if it will be another 14 years instead of another 14 hours before they are reunited.

Levi stomps inside the house to give Mikasa yet another warning about the Jaeger boy being a waste of her youth while Zeke is at home happily preparing a powerpoint presentation of all the cutesy, flirty lines Eren could use the next time he's with Mikasa at a McDonald's.

it is quite funny to me as someone who studies philosophy and has had to have the conversations that bh and ludinus have been having many times over and often with people who like ludinus do not have any reading comprehension and truly like. the notion of “this shouldn’t exist” is almost always one that comes up regardless of whether it’s a discussion on the metaphysics of a potential God(s) or divinity, high political powers, or vehicles of systemic oppression. and what anyone who cares about people more than their ideals (even, sometimes, ideals that started out being about people but quickly come to be about the ideals themselves) realizes very quickly in a philosophical discussion about what should and shouldn’t exist is that it does not matter if what you’ve decided ‘shouldn’t’ exist does in fact already exist. like that tends to be the difference between sociopolitical philosophy that actually has teeth and substance in the world — a willingness to engage with the world as it is, not as it should be. because you can have the perfect image of a just and wonderful future world, but if you do not at every step reckon with the unjust world from which you are aiming at that future, you’re doing nothing. ideals are helpful because they aim us toward goals and hopes, but they’re nothing without a reality that grounds them.

and so people like ludinus, who in the real world would play the role of a graduate student with critical thinking skills that make every professor he comes across question how he arrived at his level of study, they don’t have Wrong ideals, there’s obviously plenty of reasons why an exandria without gods might in fact be a better place for mortals (there are also many Many reasons why it would not). but ludinus has also chosen his ideals to weigh heavier than the mortals he claims to uphold them with. i think ashton is also interesting, because i think a lot of their positions have a fun fluctuation between being ideal focused and person focused, where sometimes they’re focused on how unfair life is in a very nihilistic position, and at other times they seem quite clear about how much ideals help no one if they’re not second to the desire to help others. and i think that made their role in the convo with ludinus in 102 especially interesting and irritating (but in a narratively fulfilling way). anyway, truly so fun watching ludinus argue with the amount of fallacies and undeserved confidence of like right wing first year students in an ethics class explaining how actually the ends justify the means and thanos had the right idea actually if it means no more starvation. get a grip old man.

Personally, even after ep 6 I still kinda genuinely want at least part of the Solver/Cyn-as-we-know-her’s actions to be actually Cyn, or at least some distorted version of her?

Like, I know Tessa’s dialogue implied more that Cyn was just a puppet of something else + the whole “something made a pact with her” that’s definitely gonna come back later, but like also

tbh in a series with so many good examples of characters driven to terrible actions by their convictions, be it Doll putting vengeance above all else before realizing someone else was infected, Khan getting so lost in his fear he abandoned his own daughter and is still trying to be better, V just trying to put her head down embrace her role and survive while protecting N but only hurting him in the process until Uzi started forcing her to confront it by helping N- hell, even Uzi herself has shades of this in wanting to destroy humanity without really even considering maybe not all of humanity in general is personally responsible for every single bad? Not counting Camp Incident, that was more outside influence induced rampage

Not to disrespect anyone who has another opinion- I think there’s very good options with the other way around too, but like to say it’s just the Solver alone that made Cyn like that, and the Solver is some malicious entity directly responsible for making Cyn the monster she became. Feels kinda boring to me? (Not that I think the Solver’s SAFE mind you- it definitely gives off at the very least major “has side effects of Needs To Kill To Live + does not care what is done with its power beyond that good or bad/blue and orange morality + if the host is at risk it will hijack the host to preserve itself and *only/mainly itself*” vibes)- I feel like there’s a lot of potential in the perspective of like.

What if Cyn’s like an Uzi that gave up on humans and her fellow workers alike, once had that ideal of wanting to change the world only to have it fall into bitterness, then suddenly had all the power in the world to act on it dropped into her lap?

What if Cyn’s a foil to Uzi- an Uzi that got the power to fully destroy humans and DDs and everyone who ever bullied her but wasn’t able to take a step back and find something to care about outside that rage like she did with N in canon?

What if Cyn’s what Uzi could become- if not metaphorically, then literally

Also, NGL Tessa’s not exactly a 100% solid source in my eyes- like. I think she’s telling most of the truth but there’s definitely something deeper going on-

I'm really unsure how much stock i should put on Kaga's interview statement that you're meant to interpret Sigurd as an impulsive idiot who was too stupid to realize that he was being put into a very obvious trap throughout his campaign

Sigurd's death scene always read to me as the audience being meant to be both impressed by Arvis' intelligence and horrified at what's happening to the cast, not as "Sigurd is such a dumbfuck for falling for such a painfully obvious ploy, Arvis got really lucky that his biggest opponent is this much of a dimwit lol"

There's a huge difference between pre!Silesse!Siggy and post!Silesse!Siggy.

Chalk it up to Deedee being missing, living a few months in what is supposed to be a cold viper's nest (tfw Rahna's bros in law don't like her sitting on the throne) or his family being framed for Kurth's death despite years of loyalty by fellow Granvalle people (+ Claud's prophecy that things are going to suck), Siggy mellows a bit.

Then Ethlyn, Quan and Altena eat sand, and Siggy makes the decision to order the kids/youngsters to gtfo - he might still be an idealist at heart and trust that, at least, some people in Granvalle aren't part of the conspiracy to frame him and his dad for the murder of the King - maybe if he can talk to Azmur everything will be "okay" again - and yet, he isn't willing to risk the lives of the kids or the ones who want to get out of this mess, because there is a risk he's going to die, and he's now aware of it.

Post!Silesse!Siggy, especially after his dad and Ethlyn's deaths, reads as desperate - desperate to cleanse his family's name, but also to find allies and make sure the Granvalle he served - under Azmur - still exists.

Of course we know what happens, but fwiw, Siggy is at first doubtful when Velthomer suddenly sides with them to toast Reptor, but thanks to Aida's assurance - and no prior ill feelings against Arvis, who is, as far as Siggy knows, someone who was in Belhalla, gave him a nifty sword and serves the royal family more closely than anyone else - he accepts to follow her plan...

Only to be toasted in turn.

IMO, it's less than Siggy is an impulsive idiot, but he is a naive and idealist man who has full trust in the people he serves (the Heim royals) : sure he was played, but just like Reptor and Langobalt (or Lombard as he is now know) and, ultimately, Arvis himself.

Arvis and Manfroy fooled Jugdral, so it reads a bit as unfair to single out Siggy as being a moron because he was played.

Bar the memes, I wouldn't say it's Arvis being intelligent - but him finally showing his real cards (even if we got hints when he works with Manfroy, and Reptor wondering what the fuck he is doing), that is being unrepentant and torching (gameplay wise, at least in this cutscene) his own brother for the sake of reaching his dreams, and securing Deedee at the same time.

Both Siggy and Reptor trusted Arvis, and Arvis pissed on that to kill them with their pants down : much like ASOIAF's Tywin gambits, this isn't being more intelligent than the others, it's being more ruthless by betraying everyone and everything to reach his own ends.

However, unlike his bootleg copy, Arvis won't enjoy pots of tea and pastries during his retirement : by the time Gen 2 pops up, Oldvis lost everything he onced had, is manhandled by his own son, ignored by his own people, has his "grand ideals" twisted and torn beyond recognition, and his batman gambit to save the hunted children kind of falls flat, because he cannot save his own son(s) nor his beloved daughter.

And to add more salt to the wound, ghost!Deedee hangs out with ghost!Siggy and never asks about him - you can even read between lines that Deedee "accepted" her death at Julius' hands, instead of rewarping or whacking him with the Book of Naga because that would mean she'd reunite with Siggy, Arvis (and Julia, by the same occasion :'( ) be damned.

nobody ever knows what theyre talking about if theyre not directly in the fandom, and sometimes when it gets popular again that IS the fandom— people who literally watched the show with their eyes on a different screen explaining it to them completely incorrectly.

the whole point of the show is to experience it yourself— which was completely stripped away when fucking mathew patrick wanted to make up some shit about fathers day or something, which to this day is genuinely a WIDELY accepted thing!!!!!!
