You’re Not the One

Pairing: Todoroki x reader, Bakugou x reader

Drama, Angst?, pregnant!AU, happy ending

A/N: I was supposed to upload this multiple Friday’s ago… But enjoy this quick but long oneshot I have made! Let me know what you think! Do you like having oneshots like this or the series better?

Summary: No one prepared you for motherhood. You didn’t even know the first step to being a parent. What’s even worse was that you were doing it all alone. Will you let a knight in shining armor save you from distress or will you let the father of your child come back in your life and have the perfect family you always wanted?

Bakugou arrived at your apartment all busted up. It was a rough day at work and all he wanted to do right now was lay in bed with you in his arms. He didn’t want to think about how he let a villain get away. Or how he had to defeat a group of people all on his own with no backup, causing all those cuts and bruises. Or how management came running and yelled at him for his attitude towards his fans. He didn’t need anymore chaos. He didn’t want anymore problems. But that’s not how life works does it?

“I’m pregnant.”

Of course you were. Bakugou took a deep breath in and violently let it out, running his fingers through his hair. No, he wasn’t happy. He was already overwhelmed with trying to become the best that he could be at his job. He didn’t need another inconvenience in his way.

You frowned upon seeing his reaction. That definitely wasn’t the reaction you were hoping for. You were expecting shock, for sure. But mad? Angry? Disappointed? Never in a million years.

“What’s with that reaction? Are you not happy?” you asked, shaking a bit. You already knew this wasn’t going to go well when you saw that he wasn’t scooping you up in his arms. He was pacing around the room now.

“I just can’t deal with this news right now.” He told you. You furrowed your brows in concern. Seeing how he was acting right now, you could tell it had to do something with work. Bakugou sat down on the edge of the bed and you joined him, gently holding onto his arm.

“Was it work again?” you asked, already knowing the answer.

“Yeah. I’m already stressed out. I don’t need this pregnant news stressing me out even more!” he started to raise his voice. It wasn’t the first time you heard him raise his voice. You know he doesn’t mean to sometimes, but it always frightens you. He never put a hand on you when he was mad but when he gets like this, you just never know when he’s about to snap and finally do it. That’s how scary he could be sometimes.

“Well, I was hoping that me being pregnant would lessen your stress? Because it should be happy news?” It made sense to you. Having a baby with someone you loved should be the happiest news of your life. And after having a rough day at work, you would think that coming home to good news would be the highlight of the day. But it looks like you were wrong. Did you just make things worse for him?

“I don’t even know how to take care of a baby,” he huffed. You got up from the bed and comforted him from behind. You wrapped your arms around his waist, pressed your chest up against his back, and laid your cheek on his back.

“You think I know either? We can both learn,” you tried to convince him. But it didn’t look like it was working. You started to become anxious and fidgety. This was not supposed to happen tonight. You pictured it so differently in your head and it was all going down the drain.

“No, I can’t take care of this baby,” he shook his head. That left a tight feeling in your chest.

“Cant? Or don’t want to?” you dared to ask.

“Don’t want to,” he replied softly.

“Katsuki!” you desperately called out his name. You heart was breaking. A lump was forming in your throat and tears were threatening to spill over.

“(y/n)!” he called out just as desperate. “I’m so overwhelmed right now! I’m loaded with paperwork. I’m constantly working over time. I don’t get days off. I don’t get breaks. I’m at the peak of my career right now. I can barely take care of you, how can I take of a child that requires more attention than you need on a daily basis?” That last one hurt. You stood there in awe at how he could say that so easily. You didn’t even know what to say. All of this was coming out of nowhere. You both stood still in silence. Bakugou was huffing and puffing by himself while you were trying to process everything he was saying and weighing out your options. If Bakugou didn’t want this baby, you had a few options ahead of you. But before you could think too much, your boyfriend said something that was beyond forgivable. “Get rid of it.”

“Bakugou Katsuki.” Your eyes snapped at him, sudden anger took over you. Out of all the things he could say, he just had to say the most hurtful thing. You could take the criticism. You could take all his anger, his confusion, and his fright. You could take his uncertainness right now because it was sudden news. Both of you never talked about having kids. It only makes sense that he was uncertain about his abilities about being a father. But this. This was going too far. It was unacceptable. No matter how much he didn’t like the idea of you being pregnant or how much he was unprepared to be a dad, he treaded across a forbidden place that was never meant to be crossed. “You take that back right now.”

“No. You either get rid of the baby or I’m leaving,” he gave you the ultimatum. But it was a no brainer.

“I’m keeping the baby,” you say confidently. You were more confident in your answer, more than ever. But that didn’t stop the crushing pain in your chest. The feeling was getting more intense the more you kept looking at him. Bakugou nods his head in acknowledgement. He picks up his work stuff and heads straight to the door. As soon as he opens the door, you scream out his name causing him to stop in his tracks.

“You walk out that door and I swear on my life, you will never see this child,” You threatened. You were shaking with anger, eyes glaring in his direction. Bakugou hesitates. He’s paused at the opened door. And for a split second, you could see a sliver of hope that he comes back to you. But you were wrong. He’s out that door, out of your apartment, and out of your life just like that.

You were left utterly devasted and completely alone to raise the baby. Honestly, being pregnant was the easy part. What comes after that? Now that was a challenge. It was probably an understatement to say that raising your baby was a challenge. You were struggling. Raising a baby by yourself was hard. There were times when you didn’t know why your baby was crying in the middle of the night. Was he hungry? Did his diaper need to be changed? Did he just want to be held? But sometimes, you would do all that and he would still be crying, making you stay up all night and not get a wink of sleep. There are days were you can’t function properly because of the lack of sleep you would get.

And if that wasn’t enough, you were having a hard time financially keeping you stable. Diapers, formula, and other baby necessities were expensive. You were barely left with enough money to buy food or buy groceries. Maybe a few times a week, you wouldn’t get to eat anything because you didn’t have enough money. And you had to juggle between having a full time job and being a full time mom. You were constantly working around the clock. Everyday, you would be left physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausted. You can’t even spend time to yourself because you have to tend to your child.

You were rocking your child to sleep, watching as his eyes got heavier and heavier. A sad smile reached your lips but tears trickled down your cheeks.

“Mommy’s having a hard time,” you whispered to your son, sobbing. Yes, the pressure of being a mom got to you. It got to you so bad that you cried every night. God, you were so stressed out and miserable. But even though there were so many hardships that you faced, it was all worth it. It was worth going through all that just to see your son laugh and smile and grow. Despite all the frustrations you went through on a daily basis, you knew it was going to pay off in the end. You loved your son. He captured your heart as soon as he came out. Mommy was having a hard time but you wouldn’t change this for the world.

Just when life was about to get you down, things started to lighten up. You bit your lip and internally cheered when you found out that you had enough money for groceries. You actually had a lot of money left over to buy whatever you wanted. But you were starving. As soon as you got to the grocery store, you made up your mind to stock up on supplies in case you have one of those days again.

You put little Ryota in the seat of the cart and proceeded to go down all the aisles, getting everything you deemed necessary to store in your pantry. While you were at it, you might as well get ingredients to prep yourself a nice dinner for tonight. It’s been a while since you had an actual, homecooked meal.

“Alright, which one should I get baby?” you asked your son, Ryota. He wasn’t old enough to speak yet. Only babbling here and there. Yet, you were constantly talking to him like he could understand you. It was somewhat comforting. You held out two options for him to choose from. Ryota stuck out both his hands, gravitating to the one on the left. You smiled.

“Yeah, I thought so. Good choice, my love,” you squeezed both his cheeks and smothered him with kisses. You then put Ryota’s choice inside the cart and put the other option back. When you went to put that away, another hand was reaching in the same direction, making both of your hands bump into each other.

“Oh, I’m sorr – Shouto?” you began to apologize but once you looked up, you recognized that iconic hair and scar anywhere. He was tall. Taller than you remember. The middle of his hair was swooped backwards, showing his forehead. His build was as impressive as ever and he was carrying a basket of groceries.

“Ah, (y/n). It’s been a while,” he was just as shocked as you were. It’s been what, 7? 8 years? You haven’t seen each other since your school days.

“It has, hasn’t it? Have you been well?” you struck up a conversation. He gave you a soft smile and stuffed his free hand in his pocket. He hummed in response and looked over you shoulder to see your child.

“Looks like you’ve been doing well, too. What’s his name?” he asked, going up to your son and trying to make him laugh. It was working because Ryota seemed to look like he liked him.

“Ryota,” you responded, admiring the way Shouto was playing with your son. It was a weird feeling. You were the one always around your son. Sure, some people held him but it was rare for Ryota to be interacting with a male. It was weird, but a refreshing sight.

“He’s cute. Ah,” he stood up and faced you. “How’s Bakugou doing?” Ouch. He opened up a wound that you were trying to suppress for all these months.

“Oh, um… We’re not…” you tried to explain without it being too awkward, but it wasn’t working. Immediate regret showed on Shouto’s face. He looked back to Ryota and back at you, the realization sinking in. You guess you couldn’t blame him though. Ryota looked exactly like Bakugou. Dirty blonde hair and fiery, red eyes. A mini me of the man who broke your heart. But it’s okay, because now, a new man came into your life. Both of you also weren’t public about your breakup. It was messy anyway. Only a few people really know what happened.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t-”

“It’s okay!” You interrupted him, waving your hands in front of you. It wasn’t his fault that he didn’t know. “Where you trying to get this?” you changed the subject, lifting up the box that you were putting away. Shouto glanced at the box in your hands and nodded. He took it from you and added it to his basket. Now you were both awkwardly standing there together, not knowing what to say. Ryota was huffing and puffing behind you, letting you know that it was time to go. You excused yourself and headed towards the check out aisle.

You bagged all your groceries and groaned in agony. You walked to the store and you really underestimated how much you bought. How were you going to carry all those groceries and carry Ryota. He can’t even walk yet. But you got to do what you got to do. You grabbed one bag and all of a sudden, it was pulled away from your grip. You looked up to see Shouto grabbing all your groceries.

“What are you doing? I can handle it,” you reassured him, but he wouldn’t budge. He continued to grab everything, and soon, all of your groceries were in both of his hands.

“You need to carry him. I can carry this for you,” he offered. Well, it wasn’t really an offer. You bit your lip because you did need help, but you also felt bad for making him carry your belongings. But Shouto was already at the exit, waiting for you to catch up to him. Not wanting to waste any more of his time, you picked up Ryota and chased after him.

Thank god your apartment wasn’t too far. Shouto graciously carried all those bags for you, setting them down on your kitchen floor. You rushed to put Ryota in his crib since he fell asleep on your shoulder on the walk home. When you set him down and made sure he was comfortable, you returned to your kitchen where Shouto was standing.

“Thank you so much, Shouto. I really appreciate it,” you thanked him, still feeling bad and guilty for allowing him to do such a task.

“It’s no problem. It looked like you were struggling,” he says, letting you know that he didn’t mind at all. “Well, I should get going. Call me if you need more help.” He says before making his way to the door. Before he exits your apartment, you were quick to stop him.

“Do you want to stay for dinner? As a thank you for bringing up my groceries?” you offered. He stood there for a minute, debating on whether or not to take the offer. But you gave him those pleading eyes because you had no else to thank him. After much facial persuading, he eventually took up on your offer and stayed for dinner.

Halfway through to making dinner, Ryota woke up crying. You were about to go comfort him when you saw Shouto already on the move. He cradled Ryota in his arms and rocked him back and forth until he calmed down. That shocked you. You weren’t expecting him to take action like that.

“Ah, I can take him” you tried to take Ryota away from him but Ryota was holding onto Shouto tightly. Huh? Your son didn’t know Shouto yet he was hanging onto him like his life depended on it. You playfully frowned and Shouto chuckled.

“I can take care of him while you cook,” he said. You were reluctant at first, but eventually agreed. There was no use fighting Shouto when he already has his mind set on something. So you continued cooking, checking up on the boys once in a while. Bu seeing Shouto play and laugh with your son made you smile. And when you say smile, you’re smiling hard. Like grinning from ear to ear. The sight was cute and heartwarming. You couldn’t thank him enough for looking after your son because you finally got a break to yourself. Even if you were cooking, you were put into a state of mind where it was just you. And you could focus on yourself and just enjoy the cooking process.

Having Shouto over for dinner and letting him look over your son was a great break for you. But it was time to get back into the groove again. You were about to go grocery shopping again for tonight’s dinner when a knock was heard on your door. Strange. You weren’t expecting company. You opened the door with curiosity and was surprised to see Todoroki Shouto waiting at your door.

“What are you doing here?” you questioned him with surprise. He lifted a bag filled with different kinds of ingredients.

“Let me make you dinner,” he says. “To thank you for cooking me dinner yesterday.” You smiled at his kindness, but you had to respectfully decline.

“But dinner yesterday was to thank you for carrying my groceries!” you explained but he wasn’t having it.

“And now I’m thanking you for thanking me,” he shakes the bag, waiting for you to let him in. God, you couldn’t say no to that face. And so you let him in. From then on, he was coming over every day. Cooking dinner started to become a routine, both of you alternating nights on who cooks when. Sometimes you would even cook together. With Shouto coming over, you were able to get more alone time and relaxation from taking care of the baby. But that also means you were spending more time with him. The more he came over, the more you bonded with him. Let’s not forget Ryota. It was an understatement to say that he liked Shouto. Every time he’s over, your son would cling to him every chance he got. And soon, Shouto was coming over for more than just dinner. You thought it was because he wanted to spend time with Ryota. Afterall, he was treating your son like he was his own. But you soon came to realize that that was only half the story.

4 years later

Bakugou had the day off so he made his way to his nearest grocery store for some snacks. He hadn’t heard from you since that day. After he walked out, he needed a while to get back to his senses and calm down. But by the time he was ready to face you again, you had disappeared from his life. You blocked all types of communication from him and moved apartments. He didn’t think of you often. But whenever he saw a child with their mother, that’s when he started thinking of what ifs. And if you were doing okay. Did you have the baby? Or did you end up losing the baby? Was it a boy or girl? What was their name? Did they look like him? Many questions ran through his mind that he knew won’t get answered any time soon.

He grabbed a basket and went straight to the snack aisle. On the way there, he noticed a woman was having trouble getting something from the top shelf. He was thinking about ignoring her and keep on his merry way. But there was something about her back side that seemed familiar. And he couldn’t ignore his hero instincts to help those in need. He went over to her and grabbed the she was reaching for and handed it to her. But when he looked at who the woman was, his heart skipped a beat.

It was you.

Looking at him with wide eyes.

“(y/n)…” he muttered your name out of instinct. You quickly grabbed your item and stuffed it in your cart.

“Bakugou… thank you,” you muttered right back. God, he hasn’t seen you in so long. And you looked great as ever. Healthy. Happy. He looked around you. No baby.

“You’ve been good?” he asked. Shit, why was this so awkward. You nodded, giving him a small smile that was obviously very forced.

“Mhm, you?”

“Yeah.”

Silence.

The curiosity got the better of him. He just had to ask.

“What about the baby-”

“There is no baby,” you interrupted him very abruptly. Bakugou physically felt his heart crack. There… was no baby? Fuck, now he felt like the worst person in the world. He stared at you, completely and utterly devastated by the news. His eyes were wide with shock, his mouth hung low. He wanted to say something so bad, but the words just got caught in his throat. Bakugou just couldn’t believe that there was no baby. And after he said all those awful things to you. The end result was no baby?

“(y/n), I’m-” he wanted to apologize so badly, but was interrupted by the shouting of a young child.

“Mommy! Can I have this one?” the blonde child asked you, showing you the bag of chips he found. Both of you looked down at the child. Wait a minute. Blonde hair. Red eyes. It was like Bakugou was looking in a mirror. You, eyes wide with panic, looked down at your child then back at Bakugou. You grabbed the bag from your son and gave him a sweet smile.

“Sure, honey. Let’s go home now okay?” you told your son. You looked back up at Bakugou, giving him a curt bow and took your sons hand. Your son was looking up at Bakugou with big, curious eyes but eventually followed you out. Bakugou didn’t have time to react. All he could think about was, that was his son. He looked exactly like him. There was no way that wasn’t his son. And it was too late. You were gone. He was gone. He ruined everything. A single tear dropped down on his cheek as he realized what he missed out on.

You took your son to the playground so he could get some exercise in. Sitting on one of the benches, hand-in-hand with your boyfriend, Shouto, you watched as your son played tag with a few of the other neighborhood boys. Since that day you ran into Bakugou, your mind was running wild. You straight up lied to his face about Ryota. But he didn’t say anything. Maybe he thought it was someone else? God, but he said ‘Mommy’ right in front of him. Maybe he thinks it’s not his? But they look exactly alike. You internally groan and leaned your head on Shouto’s shoulder.

“What are you thinking about?” he chuckled at you, petting your head lovingly.

“Just things,” you reply shortly. You didn’t want to bring up the topic of your ex-boyfriend, who just happened to be the father of your child. Shouto would get jealous and you didn’t want to cause anymore drama.

“You’re thinking about it again, aren’t you?” Gahh, he knew you too well. He squeezed your hand in his in reassurance. “Look, if he wanted to be in Ryota’s life, he would have tried to contact you by now. And even if did contact you and wants to be in his life, then, I would respect that.” You look up at your boyfriend with a pout and concern eyes.

“Are you sure?” you ask. He looks down at you and gave your cheeks a nice, hard pinch.

“Yes. Ryota deserves to have his biological father in his life,” he reasons. Okay, fair enough. But he didn’t even want to be in your son’s life in the first place. It was so simple for him to abandon you while you were pregnant. And after all the hardships you had to go through, now he wants to be a present father?

“He doesn’t have to know who his real father is,” you say, crossing your arms across your chest.

“(y/n),” Shouto says your name in a warning tone. But you put your defenses up.

“What? I don’t know if I even want him in Ryota’s life,” you confess. Shouto wraps his arm around your waist and pulls you in close.

“Well, think about it. And if Bakugou comes around, you can either accept or reject him. I will be there to support you every step of the way. And if he tries to make a scene, I’ll be there to stop him,” he promises you. That comforts you a lot to know that Shouto will be there for you no matter what. He was always like that. From the moment he entered in you and your son’s life.

“Okay, I love you,” you whispered, puckering out your lips. He laughs and kisses your duck lips.

“I love you, too.” And gives you a few more kisses. You look back at the playground to watch your son play. Panic starts to rise in you. You look to the left. Ryota wasn’t there. You look to the right. He wasn’t there either. You sit straight up and scan the playground one more time for your child, but he was nowhere to be seen.

“Ryota?” you call out his name. Shouto also realizes that Ryota was missing. He’s already up on his feet, calling out your son’s name and searching the playground. Your lips began to quiver and your legs began to shake. This was not happening right now. Shouto frantically whipped his head around, trying to see if he could get a glimpse of Ryota running off. That’s when he saw him. As soon as he turned his head to the side, he saw Ryota heading into an alleyway. Immediately, Shouto was running full speed in that same direction. You saw Shouto running and ran after him. He was too fast for you to catch up, but you ran anyway

Bakugou was on patrol duty for the day. He hated these days because all he had to do was roam around the city streets to make sure everyone was kept safe. He would catch villains here and there, but patrol duty was so boring for him. Until today. He was walking down the sidewalk in his hero costume when a little boy suddenly came out of nowhere, almost making him fall on top of him.

“Oi, kid! Watch where you’re going!” Bakugou scolded the young one. The child looked up and Bakugou froze in his tracks. This had to be fate. His son… Your son just so happens to run into him. Today out of all days? The blonde boy is looking up at Bakugou in awe.

“Mister? Are you a hero?” he asks. Bakugou smirks and kneels down so that he’s at his level.

“I am. What’s your name kid?”

“Ryota!” Ryota says his name in full confidence, grinning from ear to ear. Ryota… so that’s his name. Bakugou could feel his heart warm up at the sight of the boy.

“Little Ryota, where are your parents?” he asked. He looked around but it looked like Ryota ran off by himself. Looks like it was his job to help find his parents. That means finding you. He was starting to get his hopes up. If he ran into you, then he could try to apologize and maybe, just maybe, start things over.

“Ryota!” a man shouted the boy’s name. Bakugou looked up and an old classmate of his was scooping up Ryota in his arms. “Don’t run off like that! You had us scared to death!” he scolded the boy, but was relieved that he wasn’t hurt.

“Sorry, daddy,” the boy apologized. Ha? Daddy? Bakugou looked at the man and scoffed. Both men looked at each other and the atmosphere got chillingly cold.

“Bakugou,” the man said his name as a greeting. Bakugou frowned.

“Half-and-Half bastard,” What a surprise. So you were dating Todoroki now? It was like a staring competition between you two. A deadly staring competition. Todoroki cleared his throat and adjusted Ryota on his hip.

“Thanks for stopping my son,” Todoroki thanked the pro-hero. But he said it in the most monotone voice ever. No emotion behind it whatsoever.

“Tch,” Bakugou just scoffed and looked away. Todoroki’s son? Nah, that wasn’t right. That was his son. Todoroki took that as a sign of ‘you’re welcome’, and walked away with Ryota in hand. Bakugou just stared off in their direction. Thank god he did because Ryota laid his head on Todoroki’s shoulder, but he was waving at him.

When Ryota was returned to you, you held him in your arms, falling to the ground in tears. You scolded him for running off without telling anyone and to never do it again. But refused to let him go because you were so afraid for his life. You couldn’t let anything happen to him.

All three of you returned to your apartment. After a year of dating, you and Ryota moved in with Shouto in his apartment. You felt bad because his apartment was so big, nice, and fancy but he insisted you both move in. So that Ryota can have a better space to grow up in. If it was for Ryota’s sake, you couldn’t pass up on the offer.

Shouto was putting Ryota to bed while you were finishing up cleaning the dishes. You finished up the last dish and dried your hands when a knock startled you. You looked at the clock. Why would someone be here at this hour? You weren’t expecting anyone. When you opened the door, you were shocked to see Bakugou standing there.

“Bakugou! What are you doing here? How did you know I lived here?” you questioned him, stunned.

“He’s mine, isn’t he?” Bakugou ignored your question with a question of his own. He was staring at the floor. You wanted to deny, deny, deny. But you were too ashamed to say anything. So he tried again. “Ryota.” He said, this time looking up at you. “Ryota is my child, isn’t he?” You bit your lip and nodded your head. You heard him sigh and he ran his fingers through his hair. “You lied to me.”

“What choice did I have?”

“You could have said the truth,” he argued.

“And then what!” you raised your voice, your emotions started to get the better of you. “So you could come running back to be in his life?” your voice cracked at the end from your throat tightening up because you refused to cry. And you tried your hardest not to get too loud, in fear that your boyfriend was going to overhear. But little did you know, Todoroki was leaning against the wall in the hallway, listening to everything.

Bakugou didn’t say a word. Because it was true. He wanted to be in his son’s life. He knows that he fucked up big time. But now, he wanted to right that wrong doing. But you shook your head.

“No. No, I’m sorry Bakugou. That’s not going to happen,” you denied him.

“That’s not fair,” he whispered, his heart breaking once again. He knew it wasn’t going to be easy, but he didn’t know it was going to hurt his bad.

“Not fair?” you let out a soft laugh. Unbelievable. “You want to talk about not fair? You left me. Alone. While I was pregnant. And I had to raise that child all by myself,” you were sobbing now. You were remembering all those hardships that you had to face alone and it was all pouring out. “Do you even know how hard it was? How hard and exhausted I was every single day? And now you want to show up when he’s all grown now? That’s not fair.”

“I know. I know. Fuck, I’m so sorry. I messed up big time. But I want to make it right now. If you let me be in our son’s life, I’ll prove it to you that I can be a good dad. That you can trust me and-and,” Bakugou was so desperate. But you stopped him.

“You were my everything, Bakugou. I was so excited to start this small little family with you. But you destroyed all my hopes and dreams.” Bakugou bit his bottom lip to try to stop himself from crying, but was failing miserably. No matter how hard he tried, the tears wouldn’t stop coming. He violently wiped his teary eyes with the palm of his hand. You gave him a sad smile as you reminisced what you two had together. “I think it’s best if we… if you just forgot about us.” You suggested. Bakugou couldn’t accept that. At least not yet.

“Please, please just think about it?” he begged, his eyes telling all. When you looked at those eyes, you could tell how serious he wanted this.

“Fine,” you said after giving a bit of thought. “I’ll think about it. Go home, it’s late.” You told him. Agreeing with you, he nodded his head and went on his way. You gently closed the door and took a deep breath in. You weren’t expecting this. You guess you were, but not this soon. You turned around to go to you room, quickly wiping your tears away before Shouto could see. But when you looked up, Shouto was already there, arms wide open and eyes looking at you with concern.

“You okay?” he asked as you embraced him in a hug. He kissed the top of your head hugged you close.

“Yeah,” you breathed out, barely managing to say anything. But you weren’t. That night you couldn’t sleep. Your mind was racing with thoughts. This whole situation was bothering you and you couldn’t seem to think of anything else. There was only one way to relax your mind. Sneaking out of your shared bed with your boyfriend, you quickly put on your bathing suit and took a dip in the pool. Did you mention that his apartment came with an outdoor pool right next to the living room? It was convenient when you needed a place to clear your mind. You rested your arms on the edge of the pool, looking out into the city. You let the city lights and the noise of traffic distract you. So much that you didn’t even hear Shouto come up behind you. You squealed when you felt a pair of hands wrap around your waist. He laughed in your ear, slowly kissing the back of your head, making its way down to your neck and then you shoulder.

“Can’t sleep?” his deep, husky voice whispered in your ear.

“No. Did I wake you?” you softly asked back and he shook his head. He held you in silence, both of you looking at the city of lights. Now you were able to relax. His touch was comforting. It was as if his touch put a spell on you to make you relax.

“Hey,” Shouto started.

“Mhm?” you hummed in response. He took a pause.

“Let’s have a kid,” he proposed. You looked up at him and he was already looking down at you with the most loving eyes. It took you off guard, but it was somehow making your heart flutter.

“Us? Like you and me?” you asked, just to make sure you were hearing things right. He nodded his head and cocked his eyebrow.

“Why? Don’t like that idea?” he teased you. Your face flushed red and you waved your hands in front you, then rested on his chest.

“It’s not that! I was just thinking we would…” and you started to trail off. You’ve discussed this topic before but not too much. You were nervous what he was going to say. “…get married first?” You glanced up at your boyfriend and his expression remained unchanged. God, sometimes you couldn’t tell what he was thinking. Finally, a smirk was plastered on his face.

“If you were just a little patient, maybe you wouldn’t have ruined the surprise,” he says which leaves you confused. You saw him take out a frozen block from his trunks. Confusion still prominent on your face, he unfreezes the block to reveal a beautiful velvet box. Shouto froze the box to keep it from getting wet when he was in the water. And when it was time, he would use his other side to unfreeze the box. He opens the box easily with one hand and a gorgeous diamond ring was sitting inside.

“Shouto,” you gasped, admiring the ring. He takes it out the box and slips it on your ring finger.

“Marry me?” he asks. You cup both of his cheeks to bring him into a smothering kiss.

“Yes, yes, yes, yes!” you kept repeating, every time giving him another kiss. You loop your legs around his waist and he traps you in between his body and the edge of the pool. Both of you spend the rest of the night making out and having a bit of fun in the bedroom.

Bakugou shows up at your apartment the following week while you were eating breakfast. His eyes were puffy and he looked a mess. Your heart goes out to him and felt like you had tortured him enough. After talking to your fiancé about the whole situation, he convinced you to let him in and allow him to step up as the father to your child. But with conditions.

When you answered the door, Bakugou immediately saw the ring on your finger. He swore he didn’t see that before. If he was being honest with himself, seeing that ring on your finger broke his heart a little bit. Seeing you engaged to Todoroki, seeing you happy made him jealous that that wasn’t him. Because he should have been in his place. He should have been the one you were engaged to. He should have been the one you were happy with. He should have been there the entire time. And he wasn’t. For what? Because he was having difficult times in his work? At least he was relieved to hear the news that you were going to give him another chance at raising your son together. He was going to make up for what he missed out on. Todoroki joined you at the door and stuck his hand out for Bakugou to take.

“Welcome to the family.”

Renjun x Reader

warnings: alcohol mention

in which you plan to confess your love for your best friend to him at a party, but the universe has other plans in store for the both of you.

You like Renjun. A lot.

That was one sentence in your five years of friendship with Huang Renjun that you never thought you’d say to yourself, let alone admit to.

You don’t know where these feelings came from, but all you know is that they’re strong and on your mind twenty four seven. Everything he says and does captivates your mind, causing your feelings for him to grow even stronger.

It’s as if these feelings for him suddenly hit you like a brick one day. You were strictly best friends last week, and now you have these unexplainable deep feelings for him, eating you alive and begging for you to confess to him.

It’s not that you’re opposed to dating Renjun, it’s just that he’s been your best friend for several years and he means so incredibly much to you. You just don’t want to risk losing him or making things between you two weird if he doesn’t feel the same.

So you suppress your feelings. As long as you have Renjun as your best friend, that’s all that matters, right?

Jaemin always makes you second guess yourself, explaining that the dynamic duo that you and Renjun are would be ten times more incredible if you were dating. Since you’re already best friends and know everything about each other, why not date? Only bigger and better things can come from it he always says.

Although Jaemin makes strong points, you’re still scared Renjun will turn you away, mainly because you’re ninety nine percent certain that he only views you as a friend, nothing more and nothing less.

Yeah you have sleepovers and spend hours late at night talking on the phone with one another, but that’s what best friends do. If Huang Renjun has any feelings for you, you’re sure someone would have said something by now.

You get the typical stares from old people when you make your daily trek to school in the morning, him waiting outside your house for you at exactly seven forty two, smiling so bright the second you walk out your front door.

You constantly get mistaken as his girlfriend whenever you go out together on the weekend, which always causes a deep pink blush to appear on Renjun’s cheeks. He’s always quick to brush it off though, making it clear to everyone around you that you’re strictly best friends, and that neither of you view each other in that way.

Boy is he wrong.

Everything about Renjun makes your heart flutter, and that’s something that scares you.

For starters, he excels so well in school. For someone who spends eighty percent of his time doodling instead of taking notes, he aces every test and can recite every piece of information that’s been discussed in class with no problem.

He’s caring and funny, and so unapologetically himself. He takes you to art museums on your spare time, talks about the latest conspiracy that’s on his mind, and always insists you go for milkshakes every Sunday night.

And boy was he cute. The way he tilts his head all the way back and crinkles his eyes when he laughs makes your heart absolutely melt.

Huang Renjun makes you happy and positive and there’s nothing more in this world that you want than to hold his hand and kiss him in public, as well as call him your boyfriend so bad.

It wasn’t until you were out late with him, hanging out on the roof at Jeno’s house, trying to escape the loudness that was coming from inside. Jeno was throwing a kickback to celebrate the beginning of summer, something he does ever year, in which there’s always too many people inside, and you and Renjun find yourself on the roof trying to seek solace in the stars.

Renjun looked so ethereal in the moonlight. There was nothing more that you wanted to do than press your lips ever so gently against his, and hold his hand while staring up at the stars displayed so brightly above you both in the dark sky.

“What are you thinking about bubs?” Renjun asked, referring to the nickname he gave you when he found out that’s the name you gave your favourite stuffed rabbit when you were a child.

God the way his voice sounded in this moment made you weak. The tipsiness you both experienced earlier was wearing off, causing your lack of hydration to become present through your raspy voices.

But you don’t care. You’re with Renjun, and you are warm and comfortable and in love.

In love.

You’re in love with Huang Renjun and you can’t keep it in any longer.

Maybe this would be the best time to tell him. Every time you’re completely sober, you push the idea to the side, trying your best to forget your feelings for him even exist. What if Jun doesn’t feel the same? What if he does but months down the line you figure out you’re better off as friends, and then when you try to get back into your non-romantic routine, everything feels off? You always worry that things will go wrong and Renjun will eventually stop being your friend.

Not tonight though. Renjun looks gorgeous in the moonlight and the little bit of alcohol that remains in your system is acting as your source of encouragement, convincing you to confess to him right now and hope for the best outcome possible.

“Love,” you reply nonchalantly.

“Love?” he questions, staring back to you, seemingly surprised with your response.

“Yeah. Just wondering what the universe has in store for me, you know?” you ask, turning your body to face his direction, criss crossing your legs over one another. “The idea of love both intrigues me and freaks me out. It’s exciting anticipating what will come from it, but the fear of something going wrong down the line makes me not want to pursue it, you know?” you say, staring innocently into his eyes.

He cocks his head, an intrigued look falling on his face. He purses his lips, looking as if he’s going to say something, but remains silent.

You both remain in silence for the next several minutes, which causes your thoughts to wander. What if Renjun has caught on? Maybe he’s thinking of ways to turn you down gently. Or he’s trying to express that he somehow knows you’re talking about him, and he’s trying to do so in a similar manner.

But the silence is killing you, and you want nothing more than for Renjun to say something. Anything to get your thoughts to shut up, and your heart race to stop rapidly beating.

“I think you shouldn’t be scared of love,” he finally says.

Taking a deep breath, he looks off into the sky, admiring the many stars laying millions of miles away from you both. “I get that you never know what may come out of it, but I think it’s worth a shot to know you tried, and to experience something you’re not fully sure is going to work,” he speaks softly.

“Take a look at the universe for example. It’s so big and undiscovered, yet millions of people are fascinated by it. We’re obsessed with the stars and galaxies and the possibility of aliens- which I know for a fact exist by the way, yet we’re not afraid to spend our time discovering them and giving them our attention. I think of love in a similar manner. Yeah the thought seems so broad and scary, as there’s so many things to experience and discover, but I think it’s worth it. You’re only going to learn new things about yourself and life, so why not give it a shot?”

He clears his throat, and pays his attention back to you. He has a look of determination in his eyes, and that only makes you grow even more anxious.

“Aren’t you a wise expert on love, Mr. Huang,” you chuckle.

“Well what can I say? I do a lot of thinking on my spare time when I’m not bickering with you,” he laughs, positioning himself on his arms so he can get a better view of the night sky.

“Hey!” you shout, pushing onto his arm, causing him to lose his newly comfortable position and to fall on his back. “What are you thinking about Ren? You have this sour look on your face.”

“Well your idea of love got me thinking,” he says softly, staring into your eyes.

Nervousness takes over your body. You have no idea what he’s going to say, and every second of silence is eating you up.

“And?” you say abruptly, eager to know what he’s about to say.

“I’ve been thinking about this for a while now, and I don’t know, I never thought much of it because I’m a wimp, but I think I’m going to ask Yeri out” he confesses, a small smile forming on his face.

The mention of Yeri makes your heart sink. Yeri. He wants to ask out Yeri. Not you.

Of course he likes Yeri. What isn’t there to like about her? She’s really pretty and polite, and they’re both the editors of the school newspaper, so they spend a great amount of time with each other.

God this hurt.

“Oh really,” you respond, with a less enthusiastic tone replacing your prior happy one.

“Yeah. We’ve been getting to know each other a lot more ever since we got asked to do this editorial on the basketball team, and I think I may have feelings for her”

“Well, um I think you should go for it Renjun, “ you reply, looking off into the stars to help keep what’s happening off your mind. If you look into his eyes, you’re certain you’ll start crying.

If it’s not you, you’re glad he has an interest in a girl with a golden heart and personality.

“You think? What if she doesn’t like me?” he asks nervously, fiddling with the rings on his fingers.

“Like you said Ren, you never know what will come from love. Why not give it a shot if it’ll lead to potentially greater things not only within yourselves, but life in general? And if she ends up only seeing you as a friend, it’s okay. You’ll find someone one day who loves every part of you.”

And you can’t help but know deep down that that person is you. If Yeri rejects him, you’ll be right here to help him pick up the pieces, if not, you’ll still be here. As his best friend. Renjun deserves all the love and happiness the universe has to offer him, and despite being sad he shows no romantic interest in you, you’re glad he finds it in an amazing girl.

“Alright cool, I guess I’ll ask her out on Monday when we meet up to discuss the paper then.” he says, smiling to himself.

He looks so happy. Ecstatic even. You haven’t seen him smile this big since he won first place in your school’s art show.

“She’s here you know, at the party,” you say to him. “You should do it now.”

“You think?” he asks, eyes wide.

Renjun was never one to act on impulse. He’s a man with a plan, and always has to do things by the book or else he’ll lose his hair. He likes structure and time, a complete flip from your bold and impulsive self.

“Yeah, why not? You’re both here, you look really cute right now, and the stars are out in your favour, shining bright to provide you with the courage to do so.”

This makes Renjun smile. You’ve always been a help in boosting his confidence, and you’re glad to be of assistance in such a nerve-wracking yet exciting period in his life.

Standing up, he dusts the possible dirt off his legs. He crouches over, looking into your eyes and grabs your hand. “You’re the best y/n. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”

“As I with you,” you reply, a soft grin forming from your lips. “Now go downstairs and ask her out before she leaves.”

Standing back up, he begins walking to the door. “I’ll let you know how it goes!” he half shouts, pressing his hand to the door handle, and making his way back into the house.

You’re now left alone, on the rooftop, with just the stars and your thoughts.

Why didn’t you bring up your feelings to him sooner, you thought. Now you’re only left sad and alone, because you were too scared to tell your best friend you’re in love with him. Confessing to him seemed so perfect in your mind a couple minutes ago, but sadly the universe has other plans in store for you.

You decide to get comfortable and lie down, and begin to look at the constellations that are possibly present within the night sky. You can still hear the loud, most likely drunk people just a floor below you, and the vibration of the music hitting your body despite being away from the noise. But you don’t care. It’s just you and the sky, and you’re doing everything in your power to forget about the party below you, and to focus on the stars.

As you point out the orion in the sky, you feel a buzz in your back pocket, indicating that you’ve got a text. Reaching for it, you unlock your phone, and see a notification stating that Renjun messaged you. Pressing on the messages app, you click on his name and read the following:

jun bug: she said yes!! we’re going out on tueday after we’re done editing :) (2:17 AM)

“Yes.” Yeri said yes.

You’re happy for your best friend, but for yourself, you’re heartbroken. The possibility of dating him is now slim to none, especially since a potential girlfriend is in the mix, only making you more sad for yourself.

You make sure to reply quick, and in a way that’ll make him happy, and hopefully provide you with the positivity that everything will be okay.

y/n: i’m so happy for you ren <3 (2:18 AM)

As you press send, you feel the tears start to slide down your cheeks. You’re happy for him, you really are, but you can’t help but wish that things went differently, and that you were in Yeri’s position.

But as Renjun said before, love can be scary. It’s a learning experience, and if it doesn’t work out, you just need to take what you can from it, and hope for the best in the future.

So you’ll take his words, and you’ll try your best to move on.

It’ll be tough, but you hope to god that one day he’ll just be your best friend, and that this heartbreak won’t last with you forever.

To hear someone say that soulmates weren’t real at one point you would have agreed with them, but that fateful day when a mark appeared on your arm made you question everything you had thought fiction…

You were writing your latest book, you were a well known author, but you also loved loved loved Supernatural… this book happened to take you across the country to the southern areas to be specific, this took you to San Antonio, Texas… you had a feeling inside you nudging you to go there… you didn’t know why, you didn’t know what was going on…

Sitting in this little coffee shop, you plugged in your laptop, you were in this quiet little booth with plugs and everything, you opened your computer and of course that’s when it happned, you heard this voice it shook your soul, you never in a million years thought you would ever have the opportunity to hear it in person…

The conversation you heard went something like this (*and it was music to your ears but something inside you leapt up everytime it sounded…*):

Jared: “dude why would a girl like her be into me like that, she looks like she is a writer of some kind the way she is pouring herself into whatever she is doing on her laptop…”

Jared and Jensen take another look at the logos and things attached to your bag and your laptop… one in particular that sticks out to them is something they see every single week…

Jared: “I think that girl is…”

Jensen: “but what the hell would she be doing here…”

Jared then gets this nudging feeling, to which he orders another Java and brings it to you… Jensen following right on his tail…

Jared: “excuse me…”

You snapped out of your writing extravaganza to turn and see Jared & Jensen standing behind you… you smild at them and ushered for them to join you… that’s when the conversation of a lifetime started…

Y/N: “thank you for the java I really needed this…”

Jared: “its my pleasure say I have to ask the logos on your bag and your laptop are you perchance the famous expose writer whose gone to everywhere that supernatural has and written a piece on the town and its history as per to the show.?.”

You opened your laptop and went to your page logo and you turned your laptop to face them and they read it but what they saw was this….

Jared: “that’s amazing!!!! We cant believe we are meeting the one person who wrote this amazing expose on a panel we did, it was a very very intense article…”

Jensen: “can we ask you to write an exclusive for us?”

You were a little taken back by what you were getting asked, you were getting asked by both Jared and Jensen to write an exclusive interview with them right now…

You pulled up your laptop and pulled out 2 of the interview mics that you had in your bag you gave one to each of them… you all sat in that coffee shop and all you could do was smile as you set up the recording program so you could write the points later…

Y/n: “this is the first celeb interview im doing bare with me gentlemen…”

It was then that you started the recording….

Y/N: “whats up everyone in my travels I am currently in San Antonio Texas… I started by sitting in a coffee shop and writing but right now I am sitting with 2 of the stars off the hit tv show Supernatural… I know the answer to this cause I ask this everytime I go live like this but does anyone out there believe in fate, cause I do… its not everyday anyone gets to meet 2 of their celeb crushes at the same time… I mean sorry guys….”

Jared and Jensen smiled and laughed but everytime you looked at the guys Jared’s eyes just lingered on your features… you found yourself staring at him a lot more than you should…

Jared: “we take it as an honor to be interviewed by the person who speaks the truth in everything she writes…”

Y/N: “my first question is do you guys believe in fate?”

Jensen: “absolutely, when doing any kind of job or work you need to believe that anything that happens, happens for a reason… that reason is usually explained best through fate…”

Jared: “of course cause I think fate is speaking to me right now…”

You were intrigued…

Y/N: “what do you feel fate saying to you right now Jared?”

Jared: “I feel like she is nudging at me to take you on a tour of somewhere you have never been…”

Y/N: “I would be honored to go on a tour of a place ive never been before… but now my next question is do you guys find yourselves honing into your inner Dean and Sam on a daily basis.?.”

Jared: “I find im constantly channeling Sam and sometimes ill notice it when I am sitting and doing reading for something or even when im hanging out with Jensen at the gun range we will both channel Sam and Dean just in our competitive nature… but yes I do…”

Jensen: “hell yes… I channel dean constantly… Jared is right though if we are being competitive we are channeling our inner Winchester… but that’s ok cause its what led us to come talk to you…”

You couldn’t help but giggle a bit before smiling and looking at them…

Y/N: “do you guys have a favorite quote from the show that you guys apply to your daily lives? If so can you guys say it as you did in the show?”

Jensen: “a wise man once told me, ‘family don’t end in blood.’ But it don’t start there either. Family cares about you, not what you can do for them. Family is there, for the good, bad, all of it. They got your back, even when it hurts. That’s family.”

Jensen then laughed and ushered for Jared to do his…

Jared: “it doesn’t matter what you are. It only matters what you do. Its your choice.”

Y/N: “can each of you tell me what the quote means to you personally and how you hope it speaks to your fans.?.”

Jensen: “my quote obviously is when Dean is quoting Bobby is season 10 episode 17 but personally for me this quote means no matter who your actual family is, you will still have family amidst the people you choose to surround yourself with… to my fans I hope this quote lets you guys know that even your closest friends can be your family, family isn’t defined by blood it doesn’t end there either it is defined by those that we surround ourselves with in hopes of making a happy life for ourselves…”

Jared: “personally this quote is basically a weapon if im being told I cant be something, profession wise or whatever cause im me… I immediately start repeating this quote and it speaks to those figurative demons that are trying to put me down… to the fans I hope this quote will help you guys fight those figurative demons as it did me…”

Y/N: “one last question before we wrap up here, you guys play some incredible people on tv but a lot of the fights on the show are very impactful to a lot of people, do you guys have a favorite fight scene? If so state the episode number and briefly describe the fight scene if you guys don’t mind.?.”

Jensen: “we don’t mind at all sugar… the episode im coming out of season 9 episode 23, to briefly sum it up but most of us know what happened… to sum it up in 9x23 we obviously have the big showdown between the boys and Metatron, after a long tedious battle between dean and Metatron.. well ok let me make this sound a lot better than it already is gonna… earlier in season 9 we witnessed Dean procur the mark of cain and the first blade fro Cain himself... that however was just in hopes of defeating Abbadon, but now we are finding out that the Mark of Cain orders its host to kill, although in Dean’s case it would ultimately be his downfall… for we see just before the battle between Metatron and Dean we see a scene between Dean and Sam at the impala as they are gearing up, but dean knocks Sam unconscious and appligizes before walking away the first blade in hand, but the first bit of the fight is just metatron taunting dean and dean making sure that metatron knew he was a douche… but right at the moment Dean was about to attack metatron swooped in and started beating on Dean… this fight scene is my favorite for many reasons one of the main reasons being you get to see more of that brotherly love coming out of the relationship between Sam and Dean when Sam walks in on Metatron stabbing Dean… this scene is what set the course obviously for season 10, obviously it set the course for a lot of things… but right at that moment, it touched me, it strikes several cords with me everytime I watch it…”

Y/N: “I agree I mean when I watched this episode for the first time I could tell that something bad was gonna happen, but there was something inside me that snapped when I watched Dean get stabbed, it was like a part of me broke, then watching the chaos ensue, as Crowley put the blade in Dean’s dead lifeless hand, and say his little speech made me panic… but anyway im getting emotional… Jared what about you.?.”

Jared: “umm for me this is a tough one cause watching everything again after its been released or been filmed strikes cords but the scene that shoke me the most happened at the end of Season 13 in the finale where dean finally says yes to Michael and kicks lucifers ass, that’s power but what made that emotional I guess was the fact that part of me was channeling my inner Sam Winchester when I rewatched the premiere of that episode… It made me think about all the shit Sam & Dean had already gone through but now to have themselves being separated once more made things all the harder… but when I compare how close Sam and Dean are with how close Jensen & I are it makes things that much easier, it just puts everything into perspective… to say that this scene didn’t strike several cords with me would be a lie… its like watching your brother or family member or best friend do something that for the longest time either people have tried to get them to do or that they have been saying they wouldn’t do finally do that thing and everything suddenly become a lot worse for wear…”

You wiped your eyes a bit at the thought of the only other episode that made you yell and cry for hours… you were not sure of anything except that Jared was the hottest thing besides your coffee that you had seen or had in your sighs all day…

Y/N: “that was very traumatic, it was heartbreaking but gentlemen I want to thank you both personally for speaking with me here in this humble little coffee shop, but I also want to personally say how thankful I am that you guys would notice someone so small as me, and take the time to sit in this coffee shop and speak with me… I want you guys to know that it was a true honor to talk to both of you.”

Jensen: “no Y/N thank you for writing so many wonderful expose’s on the conventions and our panels, for the fans who cant be there in person. Its you who brings joy to everyone with your articles, its us who should be thankful to meet you and speak with you…”

Jensen took notice of everything that was going on and all the tension in the room, he under the table on his side nudged Jared who then proceeded to speak…

Jared: “I hope im not being too forward but would u consider having dinner with me sometime? Maybe even tonight…”

You at this time didn’t realize that you were still recording, but you suddenly started blushing not realizing that no words were coming out of your mouth…

Y/N: “tonight sounds good, umm what time and where?”

Jared took a few seconds and wrote down his address on a napkin where you did the same thing on a different napkin except it was your phone number that you wrote down. You slid it to him as he did for you and you smiled knowing that at somepoint after this you might have to find something to wear that isn’t jeans and a shirt.

Jared: “ill give you a text later! Jensen, we have to go meet Danneel and Misha for the last minute details for the flight patterns for shooting…”

Jensen: “of course I guess ill see you around Y/N…”

Jared comes round to you and kisses your cheek, you make a lot of details like how his lips felt against your skin, how much your head was singing, but you sat there for a while longer watching as those 2 gorgeous men left out the door, and got into their car which drove away.

Y/N (to self): “oh my god, im gonna be having dinner with Jared Padalecki, Oh My God I left my recorder on… that’s not a good thing… im not sure how much it caught but oh well at least ill always have the tape as a reminder of the greatest day or my life…”

Jared and Jensen were silent on their drive but it was not too far along before Jared lets out a calm sigh…

This left Jared pondering about this the entire drive to meet up with Danneel and Misha… but something else had stuck with him, something made him text you, something made him start a text conversation, and send messages… but something stopped him from sending them while in the car. Maybe it was the fact that Jensen was right there, or the fact that they were driving to meet their collegues, or whatever it was he decided to put it off…

You however were packing up your shit, you had transposed the interview recording into a nice newsletter, you were somewhat of a fast typer when it came to this shit… maybe it was your heart beating so fast inside of your chest or maybe it was your head spinning so fast it felt like it might fall off, but you felt something stir you..

You left the shop and went to this thrift shop, to try and find something to wear… while browsing the racks upon racks of clothes you couldn’t find anything that tickled your fancy till you brushed through another rack and found something that looked kinda dangerous and totally sexy but you wondered if you would feel like yourself in it, so you decided to take it and try it on, what was the worst that would happen…

You were in the dressing room and you slid into that dress, you instantly felt empowered! It was a one long sleeve with a cold shoulder cut out and a sexy side cut out in black and it was the most gorgeous thing you ever in your life had tried on. You felt like yourself but you also felt sexy… you knew tonight would be special it didn’t technically matter what you wore, but you were getting this regardless of your inner conscience… you took the dress off and put your clothes back on, you grabbed your bag and the dress and left the change room. You went to the teller and checked out, you had shoes that would go with it, and you didn’t care that Jared would be taller it made it all the more fun…

You left the thrift store and headed back to your motel and waited patiently to hear from Jared… it was while you were in the middle of eating lunch that you phone dinged saying you got a text message. By the end of this conversation it went something like this…

you instantly knew you had made the right choice in buying that dress, however you got a pit of butterflies in you stomach at the thought of the dinner being only a few hours away, you looked at the directions to where Jared had written down for you, when you looked at the map it said it was only 45 minutes away… you decided that you would leave a bit earlier to save time and incase you got lost as well…

Soon it was time to get ready you put on the dress after of course taking a shower slipping into the hidden nipple covers (cause bras are uncomfortable) and put in the supports to make your boobs pop… but something else was wrong, you didn’t know it right then but something was wrong, or maybe it wasn’t wrong but something changed in you as you stared at yourself in the mirror, you grabbed your little black bag, stuck your license and phone inside grabbing your keys you left the hotel room… heading down the interstate you arrived in plenty of time…

You were so nervous, you didn’t even see what was right near your eyes… which was this huge gate, I mean this really big gate, you saw an intercom on the left side, well I mean closest to you… you pressed it, and waited a few seconds…

Jared: “hello…”

Y/N: “hey its me… its Y/N.”

Jared: “hey come on in just park infront of the house…”

You went through the gate once it opened, you drove nice and slow making sure to take in every bit of scenary… that’s when you got to this loop, you went around it and parked the car in front of the house. You got out and suddenly felt overwhelmed, you were so nervous your knees were quivering but you bucked up your courage and went up the stairs and to the door.

Jared was at the door instantly before you could even ring the bell, you were starring into the face of a man who not only had you just met but that also had asked you out all in the same day… he welcomed you inside where he then held out his arm for you as he started to lead you through his extensive house…

Jared: “so tonight we are having chicken parmigiana I hope that’s ok with you… but ya this is my place…”

Y/N: “can I level with you for a moment?”

Jared: “of course…”

Y/N: “im actually a little nervous about this, I mean this is like my first date in well ever…”

Jared: “I know what you mean… but at least we can figure this out ourselves… together…”

You nod and take a slight breath as you start telling him about how the article went like how it turned out, how much love it got already, how you felt about it, how you felt while writing it, then you noticed something, a gleam in his eyes, something that sparked his curiousity, something that sparked your curiousity, you didn’t know why but your heart suddenly felt lik it was gonna jump right out of your chest. Jared had you sit at the table while he went to dish up the dinner, you sat there waiting patiently… the smell of food coming your way, then he came back into view…

Jared: “alright be careful its hot, but its ready and smells incredible…”

Y/N: “it smells amazing Jared, thank you…”

Jared sat down right in front of you and you felt something within you leap out and with that came some words, but in the form of a question, one that you didn’t know where it came from cause you weren’t thinking about that at all…

Y/N: “jared during the interview I noticed that you took a few stolen glances and that you couldn’t take your eyes off me… but I know im not the only one that feels this sudden and I mean very sudden spark between us… please tell me im not going crazy and I think ill sleep better at night…”

Jared: “your not crazy Y/N, I feel it too, I felt it ever since first seeing you in that café before Jensen and I approached you, before that interview, my heart has been feeling different its like somethings happening, somethings between us obviously but what is it…”

Y/N: “do you think anyone else in the café picked up on what we were feeling? or was it just us?”

Jared shrugged but then remembering back to the car ride with Jensen who had clearly mentioned what his theory which seemed to fit the bill and everything you guys were feeling…

Jared: “Jensen did stop me dead in my tracks in the car after we left the café, he thinks that we are soulmates, only to the effect of he went through the same thing with his wife… he knows what he is talking about, but I wonder right now if the way we are feeling is just really good timing or if its just fate working her magic…”

You shrugged and took a bite of your food, but didn’t have a clue as to the events to follow…

Y/N: “I think he is right…”

Jared: “what makes you say that?”

Y/N: “well im an investigative journalist by trade and my instincts are as sharp as a double edged sword, but something shoke me the moment I entered San-Antonio, it was like the wind was gonna push my car over or something cause on the way here I felt the same thing, it felt just like my heart does now… it feels..”

Jared: “does it feel like its gonna jump right out of your chest?”

Y/N: “does your breathing feel like its gonna get hitched in your throat everytime you go to speak…”

Jared: “do you have this sudden desire to just be right close to eachother…”

You didn’t move right away before watching Jared forsake the food, forsake the chair and the table, as he walked over to you and upon reaching you he wrapped you in his embrace and kissed you with a passion that could make fireworks… and it felt like neither of you were empty anymore, it was like you were whole, you were more whole than you had been in your entire lives…

Jared: “will you stay here, with me, tonight…”

You nod and the rest is a blur of passionate love and romance…

"Low key I always fucking hate coming to jakes house like it gives me bad vibes I can't," You say to your viewers and to Mikey, he smiled playfully pushing you and you smiled back playing along. "Mikey are you okay you kind stormed off on us," You said, he was looking for a drink in the back isle. He wouldn't look at you, he seemded to focused on the drinks. "Yeah I'm fine why wouldn't i be," He replied as if nothing had happened. "Really? so you didnt just storm out of your car and slam the door. hard may i add," You said scoffing. He shrugged grabbing the drink he was looking for and walked away from you. "Mike," You said firmly stopping him in his tracks. "I Just don't like how they treat you like one of the guys! and I don't like jake telling you those things! I don't like how you have a close relationship with jake! or how you goof off with Ademir!" He said taking you by surprise, he scoffed walking away again. You stepped infront of him to avoid him going any further. "Mikey what are you talking about?! Where is all this coming from. Jake and Ademir are like brothers that I never had or wanted for that matter because they annoy the shit out of me sometimes. There is no reason for you to be mad Jake he was just joking okay! Plus you didn't see me beating him with my shoe," You explained taking your shoe off and waving it in front of his face. He couldn't contain his serious face any longer, and flashed you that million dollar smile that made your heart melt. "There's that smile," You said hugging him. "Okay pay for your drink so we can go to Applebee's and get some food," You said heading back to the car. "Is he good?" Jake asked and you nodded putting on your seatbelt as Mikey walked out of WaWa's. "Okay guys we are headed to Applebee's hopefully we don't get kicked out this time or banned but I will see you guys at Applebee's," You said smiling at your camera. "That was so wack," Ademir said "Boy you don't even know how to work YouTube Mr. I only have two covers," You mimicked in a low voice making jake and mikey laugh. "First off all its three!" He said holding up three fingers. You laughed at his childishness getting out f the car. After grabbing a bite to eat, you all made your way to seaside to seize the day. Looking for parking Mikey was talking In a high pitched voice to the innocent bystander making you all laugh. "Those poor bystanders," You said pointing the camera at him as he laughed. He finally found a parking space and parked, As you all piled out of the car fans had come up to you to take a picture. "Thank you," They said walking away. "No thank you guys I love you!" You smiled waving them goodbye. "Awwe how cute," Ademir said and you rolled your eyes at him. "Jake remember the time you got arrested," You stated laughing. "Oh I know that was so stupid," He said explaining to his fans how and why he got arrested. "Guy manfs is about to do something fat for the blog," Jake said pointing the camera to mikey that was up in the doc. He did a back flip off of the dock landing It as everyone cheered. Watching him get the kisses from another girl hurt you, tears stained your eyes but you refused to let them fall or to let anyone see you were on the verge of crying. You rejected the call, setting your phone down and enjoying the view of seaside. Your phone chimed again signaling you had another incoming call, growing tired of it you silenced your phone. Now if you will excuse me I think I am done for the day. Good luck at Clinton road," You said walking away from the,. "Where the fuck are you going!" Mikey yelled "Home! Where else would I be going!" You yelled and kept walking. "Your not going to fucking walk home!" Mikey yelled, everyone had just stepped back and watched everything unfold. "Watch me bitch!" You yelled and continued walking. You heard footsteps behind you and you felt someone pull you back. "Get in the fucking car I'll take you home," Mikey gritted through his teeth. "No I'm not getting in the car with you. I'll just order an uber," You said taking out your phone. "Nobody Ubers in our fucking you dumbass," Mikey said taking away your phone. "Give me my fucking Phone mike!" You yelled but he wouldn't budge. "You know what whatever fucking keep it I'm out of here," You said walking away into the night. You hadn't been walking very long before a car pulled up beside you and rolled it's window down. "Fuck off shithead," You stated and continued walking. "Y/N Get in the car please," Jake said this time and you shook your head. "IF YOU DONT GET IN THE FUCKING CAR Y/N OR SO HE-" Mikey yelled but you cut him off. "OR WHAT MIKEY WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU GOING TO DO HUH!" You yelled, You heard a car door slam and Mikey appeared in front of you. All of a sudden you were thrown over Mikey's shoulder. "MIKEY LET ME FUCKING GO RIGHT NOW!" You yelled pounding on his back. "HELP ME PLEASE HELP ME IM BEING KIDNAPPED HELP!" You yelled "Y/N SHUT THE FUCK!" Ademir said trying to get you to stay quiet. "Make sure she doesn't get out," Mikey said getting in the driver seat. He child locked which resulted in you failing your escape. "WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU HUH!" Mikey yelled "Just take me home please," You whispered facing the window, Realizing how he was acting Mikey's voice softened. "Y/N I-" You cut him off before he could finish. "Mikey I don't want to hear it please just take me home," You said he sighed loudly and drove down the road leading to your house. Once they got to you house you quickly unbuckled you seatbelt and tried to get out but you forgot the car door was on child lock. Rolling down the window you quickly opened the car door before anyone could say anything and practically jumped out. "Y/N Y/N Stop please!" Mikey said following you up the drive way. "Mikey just please leave me alone. Go film your 3 AM challenge," You said you arm pointing in the direction of the car. You fished for your keys in your bag. "Look I didn't mean to blow up on you," He said and you scoffed puling out your keys. "Really because it didn't seem like it," You said unlocking your door. "Y/N I'm sorry okay I just-when we couldn't find you I thought the worst. What if you were hurt or what if someone did something to you. We aren't exactly on good terms with Jesse and I wouldn't be surprised if he did something to you to get to me," Mikey said and you furrowed your eyebrows. "Why would he do that and why would it affect you," You said "Because you drive me crazy! everything you do drives me crazy! your laugh your smile the way you get on me with your big y/e/c eyes. The way your vein pops out of your forehead when your ma- Fuck it!" He said grabbing your face and crashed his lips against yours. "I GIVE NO FUCKS!" Ademir yelled making you both laugh and break the kiss. "Ademir you idiot you ruined the moment!" Jake said recording the whole thing. "This is going on my channel," Jake said "Don't got to seaside at 3AM," Gavin added "So what do you have to tell the locals?" Jake said running up on the both of you stuffing the camera in your face. "Send cheeks," You said "Ayy snap code will be on the screen send to Ademir and I not to Mikey because he has a girl now," He said making you shake your head. "Well it wasn't a scary 3am challenge but it was still scary watching you guys argue," Gavin said, You saw the sun coming up and you checking your phone. "Okay it's 5:30am go home so I can get some rest," You said shooing everyone away. Before getting in your house Mikey pulled you towards him and gave one last kiss. You heard wolf whistles in the back making you shake your head. Fast forward

Its a surreal feeling reading some of the old things I used to write. Things are so different. I am so different. Its almost like I dont recognize myself from before. I feel sorry for that 16-18 year old girl venting on this site. If only she knew the things I know now. If she could only see how freaking real karma is--and know that one day it will be working in her favor, so sit patient.

I’m thankful for my experiences, although they were tough to overcome. I am stronger now than I ever once was. Everything that once brought me to my knees is now the reason I stand tall. I am in a position in my life that I never saw coming. Things. get. better.

As for you, my first love..

Oh how things just turned upside down for us. I still struggle with letting you completely go, but you do not control me like you once did. Thats something I have never been able to say -- and truly mean. You stick around in my mind solely for the beautiful memories we have sewn together in our hearts, and the millions of little things that remind me of you daily, but nothing in me yearns to make any more memories than we already have. I have outgrown you, and thats a tough pill to swallow. Apart of me knows I will always love you, for helping mold me into the woman I am today. You were my first true love and my first real taste of freedom. Before you I did not know how much happiness a life could hold, how much laughter a girl could contain, or how much passion two beings could feel towards one another. I believe we all have pieces of our past loved ones that we carry. I am certain that I have pieces of you etched into my skin. stamped onto my heart. branded into my bones. I will carry pieces of you everywhere I go in this world, whoever I become. I hope you have pieces of me that you carry too. You taught me how to truly give my entire all to another human. To love fiercely. To take risks. To not give a single fuck about what anyone in the world has to say as long as it makes me happy. Us happy. You gave me courage. You helped me feel every single emotion to their extreme. You had my heart and you lit it on fire. Im not sure anything in this world will ever make me feel as free or as wild as I did while loving you. I am grateful for having known a love this consuming, because had I not, I would not be who I am today. Yes, I have outgrown you - but I do love you... just not in the way you want me to love you. Back when our puzzle pieces still fit together, we had something worthwhile. What we made together is something so beyond beautiful it belongs in an art museum. All the lows were well worth the highs you made me feel. And now it seems our pieces have shifted and they cant seem to position themselves together like they once did. I can never forgive myself for hurting you the way I did. When people ask about you my mind blanks. I am so sorry. You have hurt me beyond repair in the past, and even so, you deserved better.

I wish I could find the words to explain to you how someone could walk away from what we had... I still dont know how I did it. I dont know why I wanted more. I dont know why I’m so difficult to satisfy. You once told me that if you were to offer me the world I would still ask for the stars and the moon too. Maybe you are right. I am selfish. I am stubborn. You gave me your all and it just wasn’t enough. I feel so much pain thinking about how much that devastated you. The agony I put you through is unsettling. I woke up and decided I didn’t want you anymore. I woke up and decided I’m missing something. 13 years of engraving myself into your heart, just to break free right at the end. Right when things should’ve been getting more serious. We were supposed to get engaged after I graduated. We were only a few months away. and yet something in me told me I was making a mistake. Our breakup felt more like a death. The months apart felt like a prolonged funeral, agonizing about the “what if’s” and all the potential just thrown away.

You took me in as a little girl. You broke my heart over and over again, until there was nothing left of me. And then one day, years later, you picked up all the pieces and one by one put me back together. You turned me into your favorite doll. You lifted me high. You praised and loved me. You promised me you’d never hurt me again, and for the most part, you have kept that promise. For the most part. That doesn’t change that my pieces were still cracked, only being held together by the glue you gave me. I couldn’t trust you. You changed entirely for me, and yet I still resented you for all that I went through in the past. I kept a grudge, on the one man in the world that loved me more than he loved himself. I hated that you had to learn to love me, when loving you took almost no effort from me. I hated that it took you breaking me until I was nothing in order for you to see my worth. You were my best friend. You are my best friend. Leaving you was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. It was the most selfish thing I’ve ever done. You were my muse. I was your girl. I know your next lover will only see you for who you are, not who you were before. and thats what you deserve. I couldn’t get past your demons, because they have once haunted me. I was the love of your life, but I was also a victim of you. The paradox was too upsetting for me. I had to get out. I knew leaving was the right choice. I knew if I left, and came back, it will be because I will know for sure that you are the one for me. It will be because I’m ready to give you what you need from me. Forgiveness.

I left. and its been 8 months. I don’t see myself coming back. I have found what I was looking for. But I do forgive you. I know that you wish that you could rewrite the past. I wish I could too. Maybe then, we could’ve lived our happily ever after. The worst part of this all is losing my best friend. But after all this time has passed.. I look at you, and I look at myself, and I know that it was the right decision. I know that when we think of each other, we both remember the good. I know that you know the special place you hold in my heart. I met someone else and I know that it eats you alive, but really, it only goes to show that there is hope for you and I. For the longest time I thought if I wasn’t with you I’d be settling for less. I thought that there is no other person in this world that will love me like you do. I was wrong. I met someone else, and my life has changed. Someone will love you the way you deserve to be loved, and you will be the greatest blessing in their life. I know this, because I was once that girl. We grew together to teach each other lessons for our future relationships. We met, and loved so ferociously, so that when the right person came along we will make sure to not let them slip away. Like you let me slip away. Like I let you slip away. You are my blessing. I will never have anything negative to say about you.

You taught what love was. You taught me what a relationship was. You taught me about friendship. You taught me about how the boy mind works. How to understand. How to love unconditionally. and so, I love him the way you taught me how. Had I not met you, I would not know any of these things. I would not know how to care for him. How to make him feel special. I would not know how much patience and compromise it takes to make something worth it work.

I loved you so hard that I didn’t have time to love myself - and the same goes for you. That was essentially our error. We gave and gave and gave blindly to each other. We stopped growing and became stagnant. I was not happy. Not just with you, but with myself. I did not like the girl I was. I wasn’t sure I had much to offer.

He’s taught me how to be loved, every single day. How to appreciate the beauty of my own soul. I do not want to give him the world, I want to share one with him. And I promise you, when you meet the love of your life - the real love of your life - you will be thankful for all that we know now. I’ve learned that no matter what happens, what ends, or how many times our heart breaks, we can, and always will, be able to love again. Love may leave, and though it might never come back in the same familiar way, it always comes back. I am not bitter about where we stand now, because I know that what we had was real. Not many people in this world get to experience that kind of liberation.

Sharna was getting ready for dinner after she had woken up from her nap with Peta. After her realization, she had seemingly fell asleep curled up with her best friend. The stress and turmoil of the last few days taking it's toll on the girl. She was spending some quiet time getting ready as she let some soft music play in the background. Peta's exercise as well as it had helped her out had really done her in. Her brain was spinning at a million miles an hour. She worked on slowly straightening her hair as she tried to do her yoga breathing exercises that she would normally do during her yoga. It helped minimally but did settle her a tiny bit. She moved on to finding her dress and doing her makeup before there was a knock on the door.

"Come in." She said softly.

"It's just me princess." Val said entering the room. The moment he stepped in, she could tell he wasn't dressed for dinner which made her heart sink just a little bit.

"What's up?" She said moving to the bathroom to finish her makeup. She knew he would follow her.

"I just wanted to check on you. You've been really quiet ever since you and P napped." Val said as he leaned against the door frame.

"We talked, that's all. It made my head think a lot and as much as it helped it just added to everything you know." She said pausing to look back at him in the mirror.

"I get it sweetheart." He said quietly as he watched her precise movements.

"You're not coming to dinner now?" She said finally finishing and turning to look at him. Selfishly she wanted him there just because he did settle her but she had him all the time so she should probably not be a brat about this.

"Umm, not the first one. I have to meet Alex for a little bit but I'll be at the second one. And we're still going to the tree later right? With Woo?" Val asked.

"Yeah. I don't want to wait too late but I don't want to abandon the second dinner with everyone. Baba is coming to that one right?"

"She is. I'm going to bring her actually since I'll be with Alex beforehand. I think if we stay an hour or two we should be good. And I think the tree & rink are open until midnight this week."

"We have a flight at 6 am." She reminded him.

"Eww, we do. Umm, we'll sleep on the plane?" He said with a wink.

"Okay. As long as you're going to be my pillow." She said as she bumped his hip on her way out to gather her jacket and wallet.

"Have I ever not been?" He teased with a smirk.

"Umm, you tried to dip out on me last time remember?"

"Not fair, we had a whole plane, I figured you'd want to stretch out."

"Humph, whatever, point proved." She said as she went to put on her coat. He stopped her however and held it up for her, helping her slip her arms in. He slowly spun her around and then zipped her in.

"You sure you're alright?" He said as his hands rested lightly on her shoulders. She shuddered lightly giving him his answer without her having to even speak.

"I will be." She said as she gave him a weak smile. "It's my motto."

"Have fun, eat some shrimp for me." He said as he pulled her into him. She sunk directly into his body fitting perfectly against him.

"Promise you're coming to the second one?" She said softly.

"I promise princess. Have fun for me okay?" He said leaning back and kissing her nose. He gained a small smile from her. She went to let go but decided she needed one more hug before she left his safety.

"Hey, Shar, you ready?" Peta said appearing in the doorway. "Oooh, oops, sorry. Your nephew is hungry."

"Nope, I'm ready. Mom is already downstairs. She was bonding with your mom I think." Sharna said with a grin. She turned out of Val's arms but leaned back toward him as she talked to her best friend.

"Oh good. Then we can convince them to visit more often, they can fly together." Peta said with a wink.

"Good idea." Sharna.

"P, is she ready?" Maks said appearing behind Peta in the doorway making the girls laugh.

"I guess that would mean I'm leaving babe." Sharna said turning for one last hug which Val gave her easily. He squeezed her gently before sending her off with his brother and Peta. They were going to a hibachi dinner as a family before a holiday dinner later with the rest of the family. Since Val had prior obligations with Alex he was going to miss the first dinner however it ended up working perfectly because Baba needed a ride to the second dinner.

"You okay babe?" Peta said once they were situated in the cars. Lucy had ended up riding with Derek & Suzanne while Sharna went with Maks & Peta.

"Yeah, I just, it's a lot of thinking." She said as she leaned against the door.

"Can I interject?" Maks said quietly.

"Always. You're like my brother."

"I only know what Val has told me. I don't know what you and P have talked about. "

"Okay."

"All I can say is follow your heart. I know it's easy to say from the outside looking in but don't worry about the what ifs and what abouts. If things are meant to be, no matter what happens it will all sort out. It's part of the way the world works. The universe is more inclined to push us into what they want for us so eliminate any of your concerns that are not solid things like actual things you know for a fact and go from there. If you'd do it without any of those things playing into it, then go for it. And just go slow. Like we did. I know it's different because I was the one who hurt Peta but that almost required even more slowness because I had to gain her trust again. You know Val, you know you can trust him, you just have to realize within yourself that he won't break that trust." Maks said becoming quiet once he realized he was sort of rambling to the poor girl.

"Thanks Maks. I honestly haven't thought of it like that. I know what I want to do. I just need to find the words to get it out."

"You'll get there. Slow like I said. And I know he told you to take your time but I'm sure this weighing on you isn't something you want to deal with daily right now so just do what you need for you babe." He said winking at her in the rear view mirror.

"P, if he wasn't yours I would steal him. If only for his words alone." Sharna teased.

"Sorry babe, I think I'll keep him."

"Hey Val is my brother, just saying." Maks said earning a smack from Peta.

"Maksim!" Peta said laughing.

"It's fine P." Sharna said giggling.

"Hey! Just think, if they do get together, both of Shai's godparents will be together." Peta said and as soon as the words were out of her mouth she slapped her hand to her mouth.

"Excuse me?!" Sharna said shooting up from the backseat between the two.

"Way to go pretty girl." Maks said laughing hard. Thankfully they were at a red light.

"Damn it. That was supposed to be a surprise and come out so much better." Peta said as she turned to look at her best friend.

"Well, now you have to ask her although she may not be able to form an answer." Maks said laughing as he looked back at the shocked expression on Sharna's face.

"I....you....me?" She said just staring at Peta.

"Maks and I thought long and hard on this one. And while there's other people in our lives that would be an amazing godmother to our son, there was only one real choice in this decision and that was you. So will you be Shai's godmother?" Peta asked as Maks reached over and slipped his hand into hers.

"Yes, yes, thank you, I love you. I love you both. Thank you. I'll be the best god mother I can be to this little munchkin." Sharna rambled as she leaned forward over the console and hugged her best friend as well as she could.

"We know you will. I love you too. We all do actually." Peta said as she held her friend as well as she could.

"Now, there's one thing. Val doesn't know yet. We can tell him tonight but just hold off on being really rowdy until we tell him please?" Maks said laughing at what he was actually asking of the girl.

"I'll try. You should probably do it quick though. He reads me like a book. And he knows that I have been an extra hot mess lately." Sharna said with a smirk.

"We will, we'll do it before we go in. P, do you care if Shar is there?"

"No, as long as you don't."

"Okay, we'll do it once we're all there then. We'll try to catch him outside." Maks said.

"Okay...oh my god. I'm a godmother. I still cant..." Sharna said flopping back into the seat as Maks and Peta laughed. They made it to dinner and the first dinner went off perfectly. The fam had a great time with one another and they enjoyed the atmosphere of the place. Sharna had never been to a hibachi before so this was all new to her. Thankfully the second dinner place was more of a dessert experience with drinks so there wouldn't be many foods. They made their way to the second place and pulled in just as Val and Baba did. Maks got out quickly and caught his brother sending in Baba with his parents.

"What's up, Shar okay?" Val said coming over to the group. His protectiveness of the girl was seriously endearing.

"Oh I'm great." Sharna said earning a nudge in the ribs by Peta. She giggled and dropped her head down.

"Thank god we're doing this now. She wouldn't have made it. I can't believe she made it through the first dinner." Maks said looking at the girl who looked like she was ready to pop with excitement. It was quite the feat that she hadn't told anyone at dinner just from her pure excitement. The change in her from earlier was amazing.

"What are we doing?!" Val said getting frustrated at the fact that he seemingly was the only one who didn't know what was going on.

"Okay, so well we weren't going to ask you this quite yet but Peta slipped in the car and Sharna is too excited to keep this from you much longer. Peta and I knew at some point we would have to make some important decisions for Shai and his future but there was a major one we needed to make now. We needed to decide who would be the best people to take on our role if something ever happened to us. We also wanted someone who was just going to be a great role model for our son. Val, your not only my brother but you're my best friend, so when the time came to pick a godfather for Shai, you were my first and only choice. So would you be Shai's godfather?"

"I...you're serious right now?!" Val said staring at his brother like he had grown another head.

"I am. Will you?"

"Yes! Oh my god! Yes. I would love nothing more. Do you hear that little buddy? I'm not only going to be your favorite uncle, but your godfather too!" Val said leaning down and talking to Peta's belly. He then leaned up and hugged both Maks and Peta.

"I'm the godmother!" Sharna yelped not being able to contain her excitement any longer.

"Ohhhhh! And your godmother is just as amazing. But just remember, I'm the coolest." Val said whispering the last part. He took a look up at his girl and grinned.

"Hey!" Sharna said giving him a swat.

"Sorry princess." Val said pulling her in a hugging her tight. She rolled her eyes before her excitement won out and she bounced excitedly next to him letting out another eep before moving over to hug Peta. The group laughed and they finally headed into enjoy dinner with the rest of the group.

"Okay, who's ready for a Christmas tree?" Val said as they were wrapping up the second family dinner.

"Me!" Woo said excitedly.

"Are we just taking the subway?" Val said looking at Sharna.

"I think that's easiest and Woo, here, needs a real NYC subway experience." Sharna said with a twinkle in her eye.

"Alright, let's just move my car over to the station and then when we come back we can get off at this stop." Val suggested.

"Perfect. Come on mom." Sharna said leading her mom out to Val's car. They got in after a mini argument with Woo insisting on Sharna sitting up front with Val. Sharna finally gave in and sat up front with Val. They maneuvered over to the subway before getting out and figuring out a card for Woo. Sharna and Val had them already so they just needed to load them.

"Don't you two lose me." Lucy said with a look at both of the kids.

"We won't Woo, well I won't. I can't speak for Sharna." Val said casually.

"Jerk!"

"Kidding! Kidding!" Val said wrapping his arm around her shoulders.

"You're lucky I like you mister." Sharna said with a glare. He went to move his arm but she shifted into his body so he kept it there. They kept up a steady stream of conversation between the three of them telling Woo about tour life and everything. They explained to her exactly what they would be doing on the subway in the off chance that she did get lost but they knew they'd keep her safe. Finally the car came and the three headed on.

"It's empty." Woo said confused.

"Yeah, well it's late, and this isn't exactly a busy stop. Once we get into the city, there will slowly be more people." Val explained figuring that's what she meant.

"Oh, okay, I was ready for a lot of people to be on here with us." She said nodding. They found a row that they could chill in and Sharna immediately tucked her body into Val's as they got situated. He shifted slightly and slipped his arm over her shoulders as the car started to move. Woo looked at her daughter and gave her a look.

"Comfortable?" She teased as she looked between the two.

"What?" Sharna said not even realizing what had just happened.

"Nothing, so tell me about this tree." Woo said quickly realizing that if Sharna seen what she did, she was going to move her body. Val launched into the history of the tree and what he knew about it and rink. Sharna laughed as she realized just how much Val really did love the tree. She was glad he came with him.

At some point during the ride, Sharna realized what her mom meant about the comfortable question. The majority of things she did with Val was automatic, they weren't things she had to think about. Sitting next to him, him helping her with her coat, when they slept together, just regular everyday things, they worked in sync. Her brain started to work overtime again as she began to think on all the things that were them at this point. Then she found herself thinking about how that had happened with Paul and how when things got comfortable and safe, that's when it all fell apart. Memories started to flood her and she could feel herself doubting everything that she had started to decide.

"Princess?" Val whispered in her ear making her jump. She looked around and realized the car had filled up with people. Her mom and Val's conversation had stopped and she had missed all of it.

"Sorry." She said looking up at him sheepishly.

"It's okay. I could just see your wheels turning." He said as he pressed a kiss to her head.

"They are always turning anymore." She said resting her head on his shoulder as she breathed deep a few times. She pushed all her horrible memories away before picking her head up and looking to see where they were on the ride.

"You okay baby?" Lucy said looking at her daughter. Much like Val she had noticed her daughter's far off look and paleness that had appeared halfway through the ride.

"Yeah. I'm with you two. I'm perfect." Sharna said reaching for her mom's hand and squeezing it.

"This next stop is ours ladies." Val said as he prepared to stand.

"Keep Woo between us." Sharna said knowing that getting off the car was always intense as well as the trip up to the street level. Plus they were in the busiest part of town.

"We'll keep her safe princess." Val said reassuring her as he stood them up. He held his arm out to help Woo up as the car came to a stop.

"Just keep with us mum." Sharna said as she held onto her mom's wrist easily. Val lead them out of the car and through the crowd of people. He ended up keeping his grasp on Sharna while she held onto her mom.

"You want to put her between us now?" Val said looking down at Sharna as they made it to the street level. Truth be told, he liked to keep Sharna near him but he would put Woo between them if she wanted.

"Woo, you good next to me?" Sharna asked looking at her mom.

"Yeah baby." Lucy said knowingly. She had been right when she told Val that he needed to move forward with this. As much as he loved her baby, she loved him right back even if she wouldn't admit it quite yet.

"She's good. Lead the way babe." Sharna said as she looped her arm through Val's and took her mom's hand. They made their way through the crowded city streets weaving through the other people and sightseers.

"It's around the corner, Woo." Val said excitedly at one point.

"He may be more excited than you." Sharna whispered to her mom.

"I see that. It's adorable." Woo said with a grin. They rounded the corner and there the tree was in all of it's glory. Val halted making the whole group nearly fall in their movements.

"Just look at it from back here." He said quietly. He loved to see the tree from a distance, there was something about its massive-ness and it's glory.

"Whoa." Woo said making Sharna smile at her two loved ones. The tree fascinated her as well however watching these two's excitement was something else.

"It's gorgeous." Val said.

"Can we go closer?" Lucy said wanting to experience it all.

"Of course." Sharna said nudging Val who realized he had become immersed in watching the tree. He started taking them forward. It took awhile but they stopped and seen all the other decorations on their way through the people. Finally they were up against the barrier and could see the rink as well as the tree.

"It's so pretty." Lucy said as she looked around and took the whole atmosphere in.

"It is. It's always been my favorite, even as a little kid. When we would get the time to come down here, we would. It was something so simple and free but it was so amazing and just being in here around all the excited people and just feeling their excitement and happiness." Val said softly getting slightly nostalgic. Sharna noticed and moved her hand from his arm to around his waist. He looked down at her and smiled.

"Have you guys ever ice skated?" Lucy asked looking at the two.

"Not here. Charlie made me try it a few times when he was my partner. And I have in the past too." Sharna said as she watched the skaters skate below them. There were skilled people zooming around the ice. Timid skaters hugging the walls or their friends. Young kids trying to be graceful but falling every few moments only to get back up again.

"I have too but not here. We've just never had the opportunity."

"Go now." Lucy said quickly.

"Woo, we aren't leaving you." Sharna said immediately knowing her mum wasn't going to skate.

"Shar's right. This was your two's night anyways. I wasn't even supposed to be here. And it's nearly closing time I'm sure."

"Please, go, I want to watch. I'll even come stand in line with you guys until you're on. Well if they'll let me."

"Mum." Sharna said looking at her mum with a look.

"Baby." Lucy responded sternly giving Sharna a look.

"Ohhh, the mom eye." Val said cracking up watching the interaction.

"It's a tradition. Or well something you should do. Not a tradition but you both should skate here at least once. And what are the chances of me being able to watch any other time. We only squeezed this trip in now because I have never seen this. So even if I am back during holidays it's not like we have a lot of time to do this. Please! I want to watch you two skate." Lucy said like a small child begging to do something.

"Well then princess, we can't tell her no." Val said looking down at Sharna.

"Mum, we probably aren't even good." Sharna still stalled.

"I won't let you fall babe." Val said with a wink.

"Oh my lord, you two. Let's go." Sharna said heading towards where they needed to go to find out about rentals and everything. Val and Lucy laughed and followed her. They found out Lucy couldn't stand in line with them however the line was decently short since it was nearly closing time. Val & Sharna were the last ones allowed in line.

"So how come you didn't want to do this?" Val asked her as he waited beside her.

"I don't know. I didn't want to leave her. I don't want to fall." She said as she watched all the other skaters.

"Maybe you'll be amazing." Val said gently bumping her shoulder. She didn't even flinch however and just kept watching all the skaters just like earlier.

"It's just like life. Scary. However some people glide through without any issues, excelling at everything. Look at that girl, she could do it all out there. Then you have that lady who could be good but is terrified to let go. She'll never know if she's good or not. And then you have the little ones who have no idea of what could be dangerous or not. They are willing to do everything even if they fall. It's so sad that we all lose that as we get old." Sharna said softly.

"Well there's a reason for that. We learn and we realize that some stuff is a little scarier than others." Val said as he continued moving them up.

"It's just..." Sharna started however was cut off by the attendant.

"Last two, you guys have a half hour til we shut down." She said allowing the two to slide on the ice.

"Let's just skate." Sharna said looking at Val realizing he was still waiting for her to finish her sentence. The two glided out on the ice and started to loop the rink. They found Woo who took a few pictures of the two before shooing them off so she could watch them. They were actually doing pretty well. Val even tried skating backwards and nearly landed on his ass however spun at just the last second. They resumed normal skating and just enjoyed the ease of the activity. They talked about things like normal just carrying on normal conversation like the would regularly.

"Whoa." Val said grabbing Sharna's waist as a little girl crashed in front of them almost taking Sharna out in the process. His grabbing her jerked her quickly causing her to not only jump in reaction to the little girl but at being grabbed at well.

"Fuck. Sorry." She said as she composed herself.

"Come here." He said gliding over to the edge and taking her with him. He found a free space on the boards and gave her the chance to collect herself.

"She was okay right?"

"Her dad has her. She was a little shaken up but they are moving again." Val said pointing out the little blonde pigtailed girl.

"She's adorable."

"She is. I can't wait for that. Just the time to share things with your kids and see their joy and excitement. Kind of like your mom right now." His words made her think of what Peta had her do earlier that day.

"So you'd want kids huh?" She asked quietly as another little boy skated past them wobbling but remaining up. She giggled at his endurance.

"Definitely, you?"

"Yeah, Peta made me talk about that earlier." Sharna said reaching for his hand so they could start around the rink again.

"Oh yeah, what did she ask? You don't have to tell me if you don't want too."

"She asked me to pretend my daughter found out she was pregnant to her husband and was coming to tell her parents the news."

"What in the world? Who asks that?"

"Peta. I actually said the same thing. She was trying to talk me through some stuff."

"Oh, well did it help?"

"Sorta. She told me, my daughter had her father's eyes. Eyes that give me all kinds of emotions but most importantly they are the eyes of someone I love. She made me think of it and then asked whose eyes I seen." She said stopping and turning toward him.

"Whose?" He said softly. She reached for his other hand and he could feel her body shaking. He pulled her a little closer to him so that they were almost touching.

"Yours." She said as the tears started to fall. She didn't even try to stop them this time.

"Shar...." He said in whoosh of a breath.

"I'm scared Val. I'm scared like the people who have realized what can happen if they fall. I don't know how to fix it. I want to fix it. I can't lose you though."

"You won't. No matter what. I'm not going anywhere princess. Never."

"Maks said I can't think about the what ifs and what abouts because if they weren't there I wouldn't be hesitating right now."

"He's right, we may not be in this position but that fear wouldn't be there."

"I want to try Val but we have to go slow. Like really really slow. I can't lose you." She said as her tears continued to fall.

"We will. As slow as you need. And no matter what, you aren't losing me. You're stuck with me, forever. Until our daughter tells us she's pregnant." He said letting go over her hands and pulling her into his body. She tucked into his chest as her body shook with nerves. She listened to his heartbeat vibrating underneath her face as he held her tightly.

Suddenly a surge of courage swept over her and she picked her head up off his chest raising up to look at him. She moved closer and Val suddenly realized what was going to happen and froze letting her lead. She pressed her lips to his and they slowly kissed gently and sweetly as Sharna felt a warmth spread over her body that she hadn't felt in years. She felt the shaking stop and the only thing that mattered was the person she was currently connected too and the feelings of safety that he gave her.

Eventually they had to pull apart and head home. Lucy had seen the whole thing happen and had cheered internally as she took a few quick pictures of the new couple standing in front of her. She didn't mention anything when they came off the ice or when they headed home. Val ended up staying the night again since they had to leave for the airport so early. He went to get ready for bed as she told her mum goodbye for the meantime.

When she came to bed, he was already curled up on his side but shifted so she could shift into him. Her tears were still evident but he knew these ones were different.

"It's okay princess. Less than a week." He said softly as he held her tightly.

"It's stupid. But I just hate that she's here and I'm missing time with her." She murmured into him.

"I know. I get it. As soon as tour is done, you can have lots and lots of time with her again." She nodded and just held onto him. She calmed after a few more moments and just laid there with him before remembering something.

"I need my phone. Woo sent me this. She seen it all." " She said flipping away from him. She grabbed it and scrolled to her pictures before finding what she wanted. She turned the phone to him to show him a picture of them in front of the tree, kissing. The way the lights hit, you could only really see their silhouettes rather than that it was them. Their hands were linked as they stood there on the ice absorbed in only each other not paying attention to everything around them.

"That's us." Val said taking the phone from her hand to admire the picture.

"It is. She said to tell you she's proud of you for tell me. And she's even prouder of me for saying yes." Sharna said flipping to curl back into Val.

"She's really the one who pushed me to tell you." Val murmured into her hair.

"She made me make her a promise. But to keep it, I may need your help." Sharna said as the familiar nervous shake appeared. Val slide her up a little bit so he could see her eyes.

"Anything princess."

"She told me not to hold back. Not to be afraid of what could happen and to only trust that whatever happens was what was supposed to happen. And to not let someone else's mistakes and failures define me."

"That's a hefty promise." Val said as he reached forward to wipe one of her tears away.

"That's why I need you to help me. I need you to teach me to not be scared anymore. To not be like the people who cling to the boards because they are afraid of falling. I need you to teach me that it's okay to try things and that it's okay to fall. I need you to teach me how to love again and how to be loved." She said as her tears fell harder and harder.

"I would love nothing more. I promise, I will do all those things and more, Sharna May Burgess. Thank you for giving me the chance to do all these things for you." The Circle Review (spoilers)

SO I finished reading the Circle by Dave Eggers. I liked the booked alright. This is not something I would usually read but I was at the movies and the trailer for this came up and I was like damn that looks great. OH! and even better it is a book. Gotta read it. I ordered it off of amazon after the movie, thank you Dad for having prime! So at first I was a little bored but the men she encountered was interesting, like who is this mysterious man Kalden that shows up every 200 hundred pages? Oh and I had a great laugh at Mr. Only-Can-Last-A-Short-Paragraph. Poor girl! But this whole thing of the Circle being the main company for everything! At first I was like oh cool, that would be awesome to have all our information stored at one place where any one can see it. I work in the healthcare field as a medical assistant and let me tell ya. I HATE WITH A PASSION, trying to get medical records from other offices, ESPECIALLY when we are the primary care provider. Like HELLOOO this information is at most times very much needed ASAP. Good old Banner Health is great as in they have many specialties and use one system. So say you see your oncologist today and you need to follow up with your primary asap to coordinate care. GREAT just make the appointment, there is no playing tag trying to get records where they need to be. Which is not only what the Circle providers are doing but they take it a step further and have these bracelets, like fitbits, that track everything! Steps you take in a day, oxygen levels, heart rates and so much more. The employees at the circle are required to check in with their doctor every 2 weeks or if theres something wrong more often. They make their records public and Mae, the main character, has another doctor from across the world tell her that he has been following her charts closely and thinks she might end up having cancer down the line because of the things she chooses to eat. Like how crazy is that? So then they introduce this character,Francis, who seems like a solid dude...at first. Him and Mae have a thing start up and we learn that he was a foster child who’s sister was abducted and I believe killed? (cant remember at the moment.) And he has this idea to put this tracer on children that has so many features. It can track where child has been and where they are going, set boundaries so that if they are to leave them an alert will be set to you. I have a 5 year old my self so at first I am like OMG! This would be great! I love it. Never will I have to worry again where my child is. Sounds amazing. And there are things like that already out there, when I phone with Verizon I was told that they have this childrens watch. What it does is track your child but it also allows them to call out to two numbers of your choice and of course 911. Which is great, there would be many cases which this would be great for the child to have. But later on we learn that they are going to take this steps further. They are going to track childrens progress in school and then you can find out where they stand in this world. They will use the tech to track so many things. Later later on at what I assume is like the TV show Sharks. Members of the community share their ideas. Well some of the community members came up with the idea to have theses trackers in everyone. That they would light up different colors depending on the crimes they have committed, and the hope for the woman presenting this is that it would stop police from targeting innocent people.The next presenter after that took it even further to where there would be some kind of system that would alert the whole neighborhood and police when there was domestic abuse or inappropriate touching, ect. Now all of this sounds great! No more child abuse, spousal abuse, no violence at all! No rapes, no human trafficking. It would end all kinds of crime. It sounds amazing! Now I am going to back track a bit. About halfway through this book they came up with this idea of transparency. Basically no government secrets anymore we the people have the right to everything that is going on at all times. Theses elected government employees would where these small cameras everywhere. And I do mean everywhere they were not aloud to turn them off until they are in bed and headed for sleep. Mae committed a crime was caught and now she is going transparent. In doing so more things are being tracked, there are more eyes on you all the time, she would get MILLIONS! of people watching her every move. Think of the kind of influence you could have on the earth. That is power. So at a meeting with all the higher ups. Mae stated that all of government basically should be ran through the circle. Voting should be ran through the circle and that it would be a requirement to have a circle account. And when I say requirement I mean its against the law to be without. They would implement a system to where all your electronics would shut down until you voted. Do you see how crazy that is. The Circle account does not allow privacy, it does not allow things to be delete. Everyone, everywhere would have access to everything about you. Things you like, things you dislike, your location, your friends, the school you goto, who your family is, who you are married to, your children. Hmm sounds like something most people use daily. I know I do. This makes me stop and think. I dont want people to know where I am every minute of the day. I dont want people to know everything about me. I really dont want people to be able to track me down if they wanted. The image the circle has is that they are creating a utopia and its not. Some of their intentions are good. It would be beyond amazing to make sure that every child is never hurt again. But all this tech would eventually be used for evil, for lack of a better word. The Circle is what is starting to happen now already. The circle has eyes and ears everywhere. Doesn't that exist now? How many times has it happened to where you can talk about something, lets say taking a trip to Disneyland, and then when you go on facebook thats all you see advertisements for. I am pretty sure that is not a coincidence. I really hope this world doesn't become a reality because I may just end up like Mercer.
