Okay, so I'm still reading the Pokemon Encyclopaedia that I bought.
I'm aware that there have been several updates to this book going back to the XY era.
So, can someone please tell me how it is that I bought the version that goes up the end of Ash's journey and the book mentions nothing of the Kalos League or Ash's battle with Wulfric?
Like, it just stops at badge 7, goes on to the legendaries of the region and the pokedex and then - BAM - we're in Alola
In the absence of this information, I have therefore added my own - very brief - notes.
#pokemon#i did these notes from memory#not watched xy for a while#but like#how did they miss this?#they added the later stuff but forgot to finish kalos#i genuinely find this more hilarious than annoying#ive been having fun with these notes#pokemon encyclopedia#anipoke#pokemon xy#kalos#ignore my goddamn awful handwriting#writing on post-its isnt easy

Nuz Report- X Water/Poison
God I feel like shit both mentally and physically right now, and I cant put a button on why. This might be an issue, considering I’ve got like half an hour or so to get this bad boy done.
Hmm. Let’s talk about the nuzlocke I finished yesterday, that’ll work, I can vomit words on that.
I finished a Pokemon X Duolocke with 1 death yesterday, but the fuckers made me fight for it.
For round 6 of the Nuzlocke Premier League, we did Duolocke Runs of Pokemon X and Y. Now I was hoping to take this month off, since only 3 of the team’s 4 members have to do each round, and I’ve done literally all of them previously without a break. But unfortunately, our 4th had to pull out for real life stuff- understandable, but still a pain. Kalos is probably my worst region for Nuz stuff (save Galar which I haven’t tried yet) and being locked to two types, after my allies had taken the starters I didn’t despise, was not exactly a thrilling prospect.
(these screenshots were taken post-E4. I was Lv.68 going in, same as Diantha’s ace.)
With my teammates taking Psychic/Normal and Fighting/Dark respectively, my only starter choice was Froakie. This is literally the first time I’ve used Froakie for anything, and it meant I had to reckon with the abyss that is its natural learnset. Chau (named after Knives from Scott Pilgrim) was an absolute mess until it hit Greninja, and even then took forever to be actually good. Pinch-hitting with U-turn was useful, but that TM comes frustratingly late.
With Froakie in mind, and Dark taken, one of my types had to be Water. I ended up choosing Poison for the natural synergy- Poison can take on the Grasses that scare my Water types, and Water can deal with Poison’s Ground weakness. Greninja, being also Dark, can scare off Poison’s Psychic weakness, with the Poisons taking the Fairies that Gren doesn’t like. It made sense to me.
The only other super earlygame mon that made it to the final team was Pikablu the Azumarill. Gen 6 introduced a thing where baby Pokemon get 3 perfect IVs by default, and Pikablu’s ended up in Attack, Defense, and Speed (with Huge Power of course), making it one of the best Azumarills you can possibly end up with. Funny rabbit didn’t get to abuse its powerful Fairy STAB until learning Play Rough very very late, but thwacking things with Return and Aqua Tail proved to be enough.
While I played around with a Beedrill and Panpour early, the next mainstay wouldn’t show up until Sycamore offers a Gen I starter in Lumiose, where I of course chose Bulbasaur. Rafflé was such a versatile, hard-hitting mon that did a patently absurd amount of work in the E4. Sleep Powder is a useful enough tool that access to it guaranteed him staying on the team, but being the first actually good Poison around (save Budew->Roserade, but I didn’t know where to get a Shiny Stone and it’s redundant anyway) meant a lot early on.
It was around here that I had the only death of the run. Outside of Connecting Cave lies a trainer with an Axew, which I completely forgot knows the frankly overpowering at that point Dragon Rage, one-shotting Anaesthesia the Croagunk. It was a real shame, I was kind of hoping she’d be able to redeem the line for me, but I guess it wasn’t to be. She was Modest anyway so she wouldn’t have been good regardless, I suppose.
Moving through gyms and the awful Kalosian pacing, I ended up picking up a few other temporary team-members- Vaporeon and Crobat. [bad meme] the Vaporeon, despite having an excellent nature, just didn’t have the stats to cut it, and I wasn’t comfortable with Flaps adding yet another Electric weakness to the team, especially with Clemont approaching.
[bad meme] would get replaced by Lagrange the Lapras, since Ice seemed like an extremely handy type to have around. Lapras is another one of those mons that’s just generally pretty solid, his bulk being much appreciated along with the coverage Ice Beam (and later, Thunderbolt) brought. Looking back, I ended up with a bit of a bulkier team than average, but I feel like that was fine to make up for the fragility of Chau and one of my later members.
Clemont was the first Gym that actually scared me, and it wasn’t because of his actually good Pokemon. My main answer to him was Venusaur, except, he has an Emolga….that bloody rodent gave me more trouble than anything else on the team, since it hit everything super-effectively if I didn’t grind something else up (and I didn’t).
Choices for the team ended up being pretty slim pickings. The lategame of XY has a lot less variety for my two types than the earlygame, with multiple repeated options, and a lot of them were less than appealing. Combine that with my lackluster luck with a lot of areas and my team felt a little stretched for playables. That Beedrill only left the team after Clemont.
It would be replaced by Quaaaaaaaaag. Despite having the worst of Quagsire’s two abilities, he pulled more than his weight, even if he just clicked Earthquake most of the time. An immune switch for Electric was absolutely essential for the run, letting Chau’s U-turn be extremely safe in certain scenarios.
The last team member was somewhat of a surprise. I was running around Frost Cavern for the only legal encounter, a 10% shot at Haunter. I’ve always been a lot less high on that line than most, gotta get that hipster cred in, but that does fly out the window when you get to legitimately use a Shiny one.
Unfortunately due to the rules of the NPL, I was not permitted to get Mega Akuta running, confining him to the shade shiny he was. But I wasn’t going to pass up the chance anyway. Akuta had huge utility being able to switch into Normal, Fighting, and Ground completely freely, and break just about anything with a variety of heavy Special attacks. His paper-thin defenses didn’t matter if he never got hit, though I was always loathe to switch him in just in case he got Crit to death on entry.
The final team paired up awkwardly against the Kalos E4, and I was a bit worried about having 4 waters and 2 poisons instead of 3/3 (my other options were like, not good) but we made it through without losing anyone. Malva and Drasna were, unsurprisingly, not hard, and Siebold’s Gyarados terrified me with Dragon Dance but didn’t actually get an attack off before Lagrange’s Thunderbolt took it out. I was extremely concerned about Wikstrom, but a rather silly strategy prevailed- using Rafflé to Sleep Powder and set up Growth (shoulda taught Swords Dance tbh) before rolling him with Bulldoze (I forgot to get the Earthquake TM). Diantha was similarly scary, seeing as her Mega Gardevoir had SE on everything except Quaaaaaaaaaag , and he wasn’t going to be able to take two. Chau was in when she came out, and I knew Night Slash wasn’t going to KO, so she had to get out of there- U-Turning into an already chipped Akuta was the only play and I had to hope she went for Moonblast instead of Thunderbolt. She did, but it got the Special Attack drop, which presented its own conundrum- does Akuta KO from here, or does he die? Because I can’t switch around forever, chip damage wasn’t going to get me far when she had healing items in reserve. I went for it, and it turns out Akuta did get the KO, but I was nailbiting the whole time.
I’m hoping next round, Crystal Superless, is less grating on my nerves, if I even have to do it at all. Because, fuck, I need a break.
What’s that, NWC is starting again? Oh, sign me up fam,

Here’s request number two! Kalo babysitting the heroes, and everything going to shit, requested by @prussiastronk. Sorry this one took so long, I hope you enjoy!
Kalo Babysitting the Heroes
Kalo lazed on the couch with a book in his hand.
The heroes were at school, and he had just finished his latest mission, so he had a rare, quiet moment to himself where nothing was happening and he could just relax.
“Kalo?” said Doctor H, approaching him nervously.
“Hm?” Kalo’s eyes shifted from the pages in his hand to the introvert in front of him.
“I’ve been invited to do a panel for the Universal Inventor’s Convention on another planet,” said Doctor H. “So I’ll be gone for the next week or so. If it’s not too much work, could you take care of the heroes for me?”
“Oh, okay. Sure,” Kalo replied, thinking nothing of it in the moment.
“Thanks! I got contacts and general things-to-dos on the fridge if you need them!”
————————————
The second Kalo and the heroes waved Doctor H. goodbye, the weight of the situation began to settle in.
Kalo panicked a little. Did he even know how babysit them?
Ok, he thought, combing through the situation in his head, I can cook, and I can clean. If they need help with homework, I’m decent at math and stuff. Plus they aren’t actually babies. I’m pretty sure they can take care of themselves well enough…
Huh. Maybe I can do this.
————————————
The day started with a literal bang.
Actually, it was more of thundering BOOM.
Kalo bolted upright in bed. Careful S. threw a worried glance in his direction. He was awake too.
“Do you think it’s an attack?” Kalo whispered.
“D'know,” mumbled Careful S, rubbing the sleep from his eyes.
“Let’s go check,” the two of them slipped out, meeting Careless S, Happy S, and Smart S. outside.
“We gotta see what happened, but be careful,” said Kalo, “It could be anything.”
The others nodded, quietly making their way downstairs.
“ARE THERE MONSTERS?!” Happy S. leapt ahead, ready for a battle.
“Happy S, wait-!” Kalo called out. “Huh?”
They were all greeted with the sight of Sweet S, who was coughing in front of the kitchen, which currently had smoke billowing out of it.
It turns out that the loud noise they heard was not a monster, but Sweet S. having an cooking accident. To Kalo’s relief, she escaped unscathed.
“I wanted to make breakfast for you all to save Kalo some work,” she explained sheepishly.
Aww, Kalo smiled a little, his heart warmed at the sentiment.
“I think I left the pan on the stove for too long,” she continued to speak. “But everything blew up when I added the soy-sauce. Maybe I grabbed the wrong bottle…”
“Well, what did you get?” Smart S. asked, slightly intruiged by how Sweet S. managed to blow up the entire kitchen just by grabbing the wrong thing.
“I used this,” she pulled out a slightly charred bottle.
“Hey, I remember! That’s my bottle of gasoline!” Careless S. points out. “But I thought I put it in the fridge?”
“G-Gasoline?!” Sweet S. gasps.
“Nevermind that, how’s the kitchen?” asked Kalo, peeking into the smoking room.
The damage was actually pretty bad. The stove was pretty much gone, and it was at the center of a giant, burnt, black starburst that radiated across the entire kitchen.
The only thing that was still somewhat okay was the fridge, which only had a few scorch marks across the door of it.
At least the fridge’s okay, thought Kalo. I maybe I should call someone to clean this place up.
“Um, Kalo, what’re we gonna have for breakfast?” Happy S. asks, his stomach audibly growling.
“Hmm,” Kalo racked his head for ideas.
“How does take-out sound?” Kalo decided. The heroes chimed back with agreement.
Welp, take-out it is then.
—————————————–
Kalo sighed, strolling through the market.
Sweet S. used everything that was left in the fridge, but of course, the ‘incident’ left eveything burnt and inedible.
So here he was, buying food for dinner.
“Don’t blow the house up while I’m gone!” Kalo had said, but now he was worried that he’d jinxed something.
Dang it, he mentally groaned, it’s only the first day. Am I’m gonna be able to last a week?
Bag of groceries in hand, he began to make his way home. Bright blue flames licked the air around him as he dematerialized into nothing but a blaze of hot blue energy.
Kalo raced home, weaving through buildings and trees, until it thinned out into the familiar desert-like terrain their house was located.
As he got closer, he was relieved to find that the house was still very much intact.
He landed near the entrance and walked in.
“Hey guys, I’m back!” Kalo was greeted to the sight of the five heroes silently sitting on the couch.
They all looked…suspiciously guilty.
Except for Careful S.
He just looked really, really unamused.
Kalo locked eyes with Careful S, and his eyes briefly flicked upwards.
So something happened upstairs, he thought, mentally translating the glance.
“So, did anything happen while I was gone?” Kalo asked, opting not let the rest of them know that he suspected them of anything. He set the groceries on the dinner table.
“No, not at all!” Happy S. grinned nervously, his voice rising an octave higher than normal. The rest of them were trying and failing to seem aloof.
“Really?”
“Yup!”
Kalo raised a brow.
“Alright,” he shrugged. “I’m going upstairs. Tell me if-”
“Wait!” Smart S. yelped. “Do you really need to go upstairs? Maybe you can…uh…dooo something downstairs!”
Careful S. put a hand to his forehead, letting out a small sigh.
The other heroes cringed. They really weren’t good at lying.
Kalo raised a brow.
“I think I’ll go upstairs,” he stepped into the elevator and headed up.
—————————————
The first thing he noticed, was the smell of smoke. It was acrid and metallic.
A bomb.
Then he saw the second floor, or rather, the state it was in.
It looked just like the kitchen, if not worse. The walls were scorched black, and there was a hole in the back of the ceiling.
For a solid minute, Kalo just stood there, trying to wrap his head around what he was seeing.
The heroes came up the elevator right behind him, filing out behind him.
“Uh…we can explain?” Careless S. said timidly.
Kalo pinched the bridge of his nose.
“Please do.”
—————————————
Happy S. slammed his workbook closed.
His homework was finished! Now he could play with the others!
Happy S. raced downstairs. Smart S. and Sweet S. were watching some cheesy soap opera. Careful S. was there too, fiddling with a rubix cube.
“You guys wanna play soccer?” He asked.
“I’m down with that,” Smart S. shrugged. He turned to Sweet S. “Tell me who the murderer is at the end!”
“Mm,” Sweet S. nodded a little, most of her attention still on the screen.
“Hey Careful S, how about you?” Happy S. poked his head. Careful S. sighed and pocketed his rubix cube.
Might as well join. It was easier to give in anyways.
“We should go get Careless S,” said Smart S.
So they made their way upstairs, and Happy S. knocked on his door.
“Careless S.~? Come play soccer with us!”
The door opened with a click, and Careless S. stepped out.
He was holding a bomb.
“Soccer sounds great!” He chirped.
The other heroes gasped and stumbled back. Careless S. blinked, then realized why the others were so startled.
“Ooh, are you guys worried about this? Well, don’t worry, this is an audio-bomb I’ve been working on! It’ll only start if some says 'begin detonation countdown’!” Careless S. stands there, grinning innocently.
The bomb’s timer lit up and began to tick down. The heroes began to panic.
“Turn it off! Turn it off!” Smart S. shrieked.
“Uh, uh, I forgot how!” Careless S. said, his mind pulling a blank. In a panic, he threw the bomb to Smart S, who in turn, threw it to Happy S. like a game of hot potato.
Happy S. attempted to throw the bomb to Careful S, but as soon as the bomb left his hands, Careful S. stepped to the side and teleported away, not wanting to deal with the bomb.
KABOOM
The bomb exploded, blackening the walls and taking out a part of the ceiling with it.
Sweet S. rushed upstairs in a panic.
“Guys, I heard an explosion! Is everyone-?” Sweet S. coughed and waved away the smoke in her face. She froze when she saw the extent of the damage.
For a few seconds, it was just silence.
Then Happy S. spoke up.
“Kalo’s not gonna be happy.”
—————————————-
And he wasn’t.
“I was gone for TWENTY MINUTES.” He’d said, exasperated.
The rest of the day was spent cleaning the upstairs area, redoing the wall paper, and patching the hole in the ceiling.
It was dark out by the time they had completely finished. The upstairs area was pretty much normal once they were done.
Kalo sighed for what seemed like the hundredth time that day.
Well, he thought, at least that’s over with.
Brrrrrring! Brrrrrring!
The phone rattled in its holder.
“Hello?” Kalo picked it Up. It was Doctor H.
“Hey Kalo! So it turns out the convention’s been canceled. Something about an important person being really sick. So I’ll actually be back sometime by tomorrow afternoon,” he said.
“Oh okay!” Kalo replied.
After hanging up, he let out a yawn and headed to bed. He said goodnight to Careful S, tucked himself in, and rolled over.
What a day, Kalo thought. At least I’m not gonna have to deal with a week of this.
Although…
He couldn’t shake the feeling that he had forgotten something.
——————————————-
THE KITCHEN.
Kalo bolted upright in bed, this time not from any loud noise, but from the realization that he would have to practically redo the entire kitchen before Doctor H. came home.
“Careful S, wake up!” Kalo hissed through clenched teeth. Careful S.’s eyes popped open.
“What-?”
“Meet me outside the kitchen, I’m getting the others.”
After rounding up four more sleepy heroes, he began to explain the situation.
“Isn’t Doctor H. coming home five days later?” asked Careful S.
“Well, funny thing is…he’s actually coming home today. This afternoon,” Kalo said sheepishly.
Suddenly, the heroes didn’t seem so sleepy.
Kalo looked at the clock.
8:30 am
They had at least three hours and 30 minutes. Four hours if they were lucky.
“Alright, this isn’t the best situation, but if we buckle down and get to work, we can finish this,” said Kalo. “And don’t worry, I’ll order breakfast.”
———————————————-
Doctor H. stretched when he got off the taxi.
A happy sigh escaped his mouth. It felt good to be home.
He grabbed his luggage, and plodded up the stairs.
“Guys, I’m back!” He called, knocking on the door. Kalo was the one who answered the door.
“Welcome home,” he smiled. Everyone was on the couch, watching TV. It seemed everything was fine.
“I’m gonna go grab something to eat,” Doctor H. passed his luggage off to Kalo, who seemed just a little tenser than before.
He opened the fridge and scanned its contents.
Bread, cheese, ham, hmmmm…I guess I’ll make myself a sandwich.
As he made his meal, he couldn’t help but feel something was off.
“I could’ve sworn the wall paper was a darker shade of yellow.” Doctor H. thought aloud.
…
“Mm. Probably my head messing with me.”
Unbeknownst to Doctor H, Kalo had just doubled over with relief.

*punches my entire house into bits*
FINALLY.
After nearly two to three weeks of sketching, coloring, and patience, I have finally completed my new Pokemon Kalos doodle project :D!
Apologies for the wait though, but I’m sure none of you guys even expected this to happen.
I actually started off since late September and wanted to finish it that time, but then I kept planning it out until all the way into Columbus Day weekend, where I wanted to post the entire thing on Columbus Day, but I almost forgot to finish. So I had to wait until my extra day off today to finish the last doodle! So no more waiting guys, this is the final project :D!
Okay, so thanks to my new love for Greninja and my nostalgic tastes for the franchise, it made me join the Pokemon fandom once again! I am hopefully planning on getting the recent soon! I hope to get X and Y first before Sun and Moon since apparently, Kalos is actually my favorite region next to Unova and Johto. And because of that, I was thinking about what it would be like if I had my own traveling companions, like Ash had in the anime. So, I thought about it and did some sketches to make my final result!
This is pretty much my own OCs, who are all friends and are traveling throughout Kalos together. Each of them have their own goals in order:
Angela: Based off of me! Only that my name isn’t really Angela, so XD. Simply wants to beat the Kalos League and maybe someday become Champion. Angela has just started on her journey and is pretty much a rookie so far. Though she’s not skilled just yet, she slowly learns how to train her Pokemon better and learns how to develop strategies.
Richard: To follow his father’s dreams in becoming a Pokemon Coordinator, but since Performers are available instead, he decides to become one. Unfortunately, it’s a girls-only contest, so he’ll think of something (more on him later)
Victoria: She doesn’t even know what she wants to be actually. She keeps thinking of what Trainer Class she should take, but has no clue at all. However, since she has been following all of the maps around Kalos and is an expert in the regional locations, she decides to learn how to become a Pokemon Geographer to put her geography skills to the test.
This is a complete AU from the anime entirely. Though there are a few things added in here, like the Pokemon Showcase and the Kalos League competition, but only a little different. I haven’t watched Pokemon in a long while, but since many people have said that the XY anime is really that good (and also because of the badass that is Greninja), I would have to watch more of it just to gain some ideas in developing my AU. But however, I’m mostly going to play the X and Y games more often, but I’ll see what I can do.
Now this article is getting long, so let me say a few pointers that were in development, but was scrapped instead:
Originally, the entire AU was going to take place in Johto. I was actually going with it at first, but soon i decided to change it to Kalos later on.
Additionally, I was at first going to make Angela, Richard, and Victoria all born in Johto from their childhood before moving to Kalos years later to meet up again. But that was scrapped. I then decided to do the same in Kalos, will all of them meeting in their childhood before seeing each other again years later. But again that was scrapped. And now, only Victoria is from Johto become traveling to Kalos.
Victoria was originally named Valeria, but that name’s already taken so I chose Victoria instead.
I wanted the sketches to be drawn more akin to the beloved Pokemon art style. I actually followed many tutorials online and the results were not that bad actually, but I decided to go with my well-known art style instead. It just makes things more easier.
Now it was difficult in making Fennekin Richard’s starter, since he is going to be a Performer, and I DO NOT want to make it a complete copy of Serena’s plot. And I even wanted Fennekin and Angela’s Froakie to develop a romance as well! So I had two options: 1. Make Fennekin Angela’s starter instead and make Chespin Richard’s starter. Victoria would have Froakie. 2. Have Angela keep both Froakie AND Fennekin together. But there’s no way in hell am I gonna let Angie have two starters on her team! Ash may have been able to accomplish this before on numerous occassions, but the rule is, you must only have one starter, well in my eyes! It was very difficult for me to choose so I decided to keep Fennekin to Richard instead.
Bonus stuff:
Angela’s Froakie is kinda different from the Froakie we know and love from the anime. He can be pretty silent and loyal, but most of the time, he can be very playful, and will always ask for sweets from Angela. Yeah, he REALLY loves sweets. Just like Pikachu, he rather stays outside of his Poke Ball, most of the time, he feels comfortable inside Angela’s backpack.
Each of the trio gets only ONE rival. I actually thought of giving Angela or Richard like maybe two or three, but then I get flashbacks from the Black and White anime, so yeah, only one, were going by my rules. Don’t worry, I will fix that soon.
The two will get three or four Pokemon similar to the chosen Pokes of the XY team of the anime. I’m not sure yet, but for now, Angela gets a Fletchling, Richard may get a Goodra, and Victoria will get a full grown Noibat evolving into a beast of a Noivern. Also Noivern kinda has a thing for Tori, like he crushes on her a little, but...eh 0_0???
And for the villain stuff, Team Flare will appear soon. And the new team Rocket of the AU will be....a evil Treecko who wants to rule the Kalos Region.....ooh boy, my AU ideas are so weird O_o.
And that’s pretty much it for now! I’m not sure if I want to keep going with this, but let me know if I should!
For now, I must go! I have a lot of great stuff to work on ;D!
#pokemon#kalos!AU#my art#my au#my ocs#angela#richard#victoria#apologies for this being so dang long#took me longer that i though#but it will be better soon!#pkmn fanart#pkmnart
