The stagnant air crackled with a flash of violet light, and a vortex of strange energy spawned in the hall of a certain sorceress’ castle.

“Gah!”

He barked out a muffled curse as he staggered out of his hand-crafted portal, Soil spiral dissipating into thin dust that followed him lazily with each shaky step.

The demon presence at Transit Station 505 caught him by surprise and as much as he hated to admit it, he might have expended his energy faster than what he was prepared for.

He steadied himself and looked around. His surroundings were unfamiliar, but, if his prior experience with Summon Spirit-driven teleportation was to be trusted, there must have been a strong Chaotic presence in that world that had beckoned him there. He shook his head.

He took a hearty chug of a Mega-Potion and set off silently along the shaded passageway, stalking the halls like the wind.

However, mere stealth is not quite the method of choice should one wish to go unnoticed in the domain of a witch, after all.

He could feel a presence watching his every move. Another good reason to have his gun at the ready.

He would have to wait and see what the observer’s motives were. Regardless, if there were any clues about Chaos to be gleaned, all the better for him.

And all be damned, he would obtain the information he came for; His way, or the hard way.

As if it’s not bad enough that she’s been unable to sleep well, opting to go on solitary walks when her worries about managing her powers keep her up until late hours, now she’s hearing voices.

Sensing a presence in her mind that should, in all likelihood, be dead.

“...I must be imagining things.” That’s what she tells herself, and even though there is very little confidence in her voice, the words that were spoken just for reassurance do exactly the opposite; Selphie can feel herself tense and the hair on the back of her neck stand up, already knowing her fear could very easily manifest if she doesn’t keep it under control. “No way was that her voice. It couldn’t be.”

|| ||                      Kuja was extremely adept at lying. The webs he wove with words were impenetrable-- Should a thread fall lose, his mind would conjure one anew in its place. He’d felled kingdoms with his silver tongue alone.

       But there’d always been one who his lies wilted in the face of.

       “Your powers on this plane are quite the far cry from what they were back whence you came, aren’t they?” he blurted at her, rather thoughtlessly.

       ...Tch, really now, it wasn’t as though the Witch especially resembled him... Not an ounce, fortunately. But her all-knowing smile ( not really a smile at all, he knew-- just shaped that way ) and the timeless glaze behind those amber irises broke his threads all the same.

      It was authority she had no right to possess.

     “...I-I ask only as a related theory-- And expect no answer. The others are hardly forthcoming, after all. Why should you be? Forget I said a thing, erase it from the script~.”

  “People say I’m too quiet — told me that all my life...” he took a step toward her, the tip of the blade hanging from his grasp scraping the ground with a sharp iron thrum. 

  “Guess they’re right,” he lifted his blade, pointing it at her with a leveling of storm-blue eyes. “I can spot a lot of talk when I see it.” 

  He let silence hang between them for a moment. His language. His own breath — his pulse— ringing in his ears like an all-too-familiar voice from an age in which he couldn’t find his own.

  That age had passed.

  “You’d better hope Time swallows me whole. If I make it out the other side, well-...” he trailed off, thumb lifting to cock the trigger, priming the barrel of his gunblade with that heavy click.

She finds herself caught in a dilemma - on the one hand, she appreciates anyone taking the time to acknowledge her birthday, but on the other, it’s Ultimecia. Selphie blinks, torn between being confused that Ulti is actually doing something nice (maybe), and shocked that she’s even here right now.

“Welllll, yeah. Even if you tried to give me the best gift in the entire world, I wouldn’t take it! How would I know you’re not just playin’ some kinda evil trick on me, even if it is my birthday?”

Your Muses backstory

7. What is their fondest memory? Their worst?

I’ve already answered this but I’ll just list another set of good and bad memories and extend it into the after-game canon.

Fondest: Meeting Ardyn. I mean, the man pissed him off enough to get run through with a sword within 15 minutes but I feel like things worked out in the end. They created a worthy goal, bonded over destruction, decided they could rule everything together, and have a life together now. Meeting him is still the fond memory though, because the immortality aspect really did make the strange man far more interesting.

Worst: Meeting Gestahl. Yes, he was an orphan and the Emperor was a very rich man had honeyed words and promises at the time, but in hindsight, Kefka does not look back on being taken out of that filthy, horrible orphanage fondly for very obvious reasons.

[ Yeah uh, I’m still alive. But I also honestly don’t have a high musing to RP on my multi-muse blog. My muses here have a lot of old memories attached to them that...kinda makes it hard for me to be here and gives me some anxiety. I still think about Arale, Pinich, and Grandpa Gohan now and then though.

Look. I have had such a mighty need to write with an Ultimecia for such a long time, and let me tell you, the wait has been 100% worth it. This mun right here does a beautiful job with their portrayal. 

Villains are hard. Really hard. It’s so easy for them to become one-dimensional or be rendered ineffective when attempting to humanize them, but none of that happens here. This Ultimecia has depth and life and you can sympathize with them while still maintaining that they are dangerous and a force of nature in their own right.

That is such a delicate balance, and I am in such awe of you and your portrayal
