Your Choice - Monty de la Cruz

He might have been her boyfriend’s best friend, but that didn’t matter at that moment. What mattered was her own best friend.

Hannah was still on the newer side of things, but she had it rough from the beginning. Y/N should have known that Justin had bad intentions, he was also friends with her boyfriend, but he had been pretty good to Kat when they were together, so she hoped for the best. The last thing she had expected was for him to spread rumors about him and Hannah sleeping together.

She had barely talked to him since. She knew that Monty was still friends with him, but she wasn’t one to force her boyfriend to stop being friends with someone just because she didn’t like them. That might have to change soon though.

Since the Justin incident, as they had taken to calling it, Hannah, unfortunately, got quite a bad rep around the school. Everywhere she went, people would point and whisper. Usually, that was it, until today. Bryce, always the bold one, decided that he wanted a piece of the action that his friend had recently claimed to have gotten. Apparently, the only way he knew how to approach the situation was a hand grope to the ass.

“Hey new girl, heard you’re pretty good. I’d like to see for myself.” The one thing he hadn’t accounted for was anyone standing up for the girl. He had seen how Hannah reacted to the rumors, always shying away from all the eyes on her, so he assumed it would be easy to get away from. Unfortunately for him, Y/N was nearby and saw the whole thing.

As soon as the words left his mouth, Y/N was leaving her boyfriend and rushing over. “What’s wrong with you? You can’t do that. Get out of here before I tell the principal.” Bryce laughed a little before stopping when he noticed she wasn’t joining in. “Come on Y/N, you can’t be serious. Monty does it to you all the time. What are you overreacting for?”

“Monty does it because he’s my boyfriend and he has my permission. You don’t. And I’m not overreacting, you’re a jerk.” Bryce scoffed as he began backing away, “Whatever, you’re both crazy. I don’t know why Monty’s put up with you so long. You must be great in bed.” Before she could speak, he continued, “Come on Monty, let’s get out of here. You don’t need her anyways.”

Bryce walked away, leaving Monty looking between his best friend and his girlfriend. Y/N wrapped an arm around Hannah and began leading the girl away, “You go after him and it’s over. Your choice.”

iah update status

hey guys! sooo here’s this. i’ve decided to rewrite in a heartbeat and put it on a hiatus until july :/ here’s my reasoning under the cut! please read and don’t abandon this blog because i’ll still be putting out oneshots and blurbs! from july, i will be having a scheduled posting timespread for the fic, so you’ll get a steady chapter release. 

reason #1:

i’m busy as hell! i’ve got 5 exams in june and a shit ton of summatives due in june and i’m working my ass of to get them done! school is #1 kiddos. so yeah, i’m going to be focusing on that instead of stressing over when i’ll get the next chapter out.

reason #2:

it’s shit. pretty simple, but when i first started, my writing was wayyyy different. now reading back, it’s just bad and i know i could do better. i’ll be keeping the storyline, but generally making the chapters longer, nicer and hopefully way better!

reason #3:

where did my inspo go???? i’ve lost inspo for the story! i don’t want to discontinue it, because i really love the story but idk where to go with it??? when i first posted the story, i had the most general of ideas. i was sooo excited to get it out that i didn’t really think about what way i wanted the fic to go, how i would develop the characters etc. when i rewrite, i’ll actually prewrite all the chapters and post them according to a schedule.

the way i’m releasing chapters is shiiiit! i can’t get chapters out in time, can’t finish chaps in time, etc. i’m going to pre-write my chapters so you won’t have to wait!

Maya reaches across the center console and slaps her brother on the chest, sparing one last glance at her boyfriend before pulling out of the parking lot.

“So, what’d you think of him?” she asks.

“Fine,” Andy says. He’s supporting his head with his fist, his arm propped up against passenger side window. He couldn’t look less interested as his eyes fought to stay open. “He seems nice.”

She reaches over as carefully as she can while driving and pushes his arm out from underneath his head. His head jerks from the sudden motion.

“Dude, what the hell?”

“‘He seems nice’?” she asks incredulously. “Your short responses may work with everyone else, but not with me.”

“I’m fucking tired, give me a break,” he groans. “I don’t know if you forgot, but I just drove for like five hours straight.”

Maya almost thinks he’s fallen asleep when he goes silent for a few moments. She glances over to see him looking at her with a teasing, albeit sleepy, smile.

“What?” she says. He continues to look at her with the same smug smirk. “I hope you know you look like a creep when you smile like that.”

Andy still doesn’t respond, but instead starts to laugh.

“What?” she repeats as she begins to laugh as well. “What is so funny?”

“Oh, nothing,” Andy says. “I just find it kinda funny how you ended up with a Navy man, that’s all.”

“Andy…” she says in a warning tone.

“A pilot, no less,” he tuts. She reaches over and whacks him again. “You gotta admit that’s kinda funny.”

“Believe me, it took me a while to come to terms with it myself.” Maya scoffs. “Does it bother you that he is?”

“Would it matter if it did?” he retorts, raising an eyebrow at his sister.

“Not really, but I value your opinion,” she says honestly. No matter what Andy says, it would be hard for Maya to turn away from Jake.

“I’m just…concerned,” he decides. “Pilots don’t really have the best track record.”

“You do realize you’re a pilot, right?”

“When’s the last time you’ve seen me on a date?”

Alright, fair point. “What about Wes? Parker? Griff? Y’know, our brothers.”

He gives her a look that says ‘really?’.

“Okay, fine, just Wes.”

“Wes is different. Him and Cami have practically been together since they were in diapers.”

Another fair point. “What about Dad?”

Andy goes silent for a second. “You really like this guy, don’t you?”

Maya blushes. “Thought it was kind of obvious.”

Deciding to spare his sister of a more serious conversation, Andy goes back to teasing her. “Yeah, maybe the little PDA session in front of the car should’ve clued me in.”

“No one told you to look.”

“No one told you to have sex with your boyfriend in a public parking lot,” he quips back.

“Okay, whatever. The whole pilot thing aside, what did you think?” she asks somewhat timidly. No matter how much she loved her boyfriend, there was still a small part of her that cared about what he family thought of him.

Andy shrugs. “You seem happy, that’s all I care about.”

Maya thinks about pressing him for more, but she knows she won’t get much more out of him about the subject at hand. She couldn’t shake how awkward Jake had been acting before they’d driven away, how eager he seemed to get out of there.

“Uh oh, that’s your thinking face,” Andy says, reaching over to poke at the wrinkle in her forehead. Maya swats his hand away in annoyance.

“It’s just...was Jake acting a little strange right before we left?” she asks.

“Probably just tired,” he shrugs.

Maya nods despite not really believing it. “Yeah, probably.”

Y/N was slowly trying to open her eyes as she felt the cold spot beside her.

For once, she felt well rested as she sat up in her and her husband’s bed, only to find him not cuddled up beside her. It would have scared her if she didn’t know exactly where he was. She got up and slipped on her comfy shoes and robe before making her way out of the room and towards the nursery.

This was the first night that their baby would be spending out of their room and in their own space, which scared the new parents more than the baby. Their child had gone to sleep right away and was still knocked out when they went to bed. Monty had claimed the baby monitor, stating very clearly that she needed as much sleep as she could get. That must have been the reason that she hadn’t heard their child when it started crying.

When she arrived at the nursery, it warmed her heart to see her husband holding their baby, gently rocking them. He was humming and bobbing up and down to a random beat that seemed to have popped into his head.

She stayed watching until their child seemed to finally lull back to sleep and Monty laid them down back in their crib. He smiled when he turned and saw her leaning against the doorway. As he walked over and wrapped his arms around her, they both turned and looked at the crib.

“We made that,” Monty whispered in her ear. Y/N patted his arm comfortingly as she said, “Yeah we did. We did good, baby. We did good.”

Y/N sighed, another night spent alone in their bed.

She honestly understood, he just had his big break, which meant press conferences and interviews all day, but he could at least call or text to let her know that he wouldn’t be home till late. She had told him this morning that she had something important to talk to him about, but she guessed that he just forgot. He had been doing that a lot lately, forgetting.

It was hitting 11 o’clock by the time the bedroom door finally opened, revealing her husband. From the sigh he released as soon as he laid down on the bed beside her, she knew that it was a rough day. He was barely able to give her a small smile before he was shoving his head into her shoulder and cuddling up next to her. Usually she would have welcomed it, but she had something important to say tonight.

“Hey, Noah? I really need to talk to you.” He sighed against her neck before groaning, annoying her instantly. “We’ll talk tomorrow, babe. All I want to do right now is sleep.” She shot his a look that he couldn’t see before saying, “I know you’re tired, Noah. “I already told you I don’t want to go, I don’t see why you can’t just get over it.”

Justin sighed angrily as his girlfriend continued to lay in bed. This party had been all anyone could talk about all week, including her, but suddenly an hour before they were supposed to be there she had refused to leave her bed. He didn’t understand what had changed, but he planned on finding out.

“You were so excited about this yesterday, what changed?” Y/N mumbled something under her breath as she turned away and pulled her cover up so it hid her face. Justin sighed once more, this time in defeat as he made his way over and laid down beside her, wrapping his arm around her waist from behind. She tensed up slightly but didn’t push him away, which he took as a good sign.

The couple laid like that for a little bit longer before Y/N let out a big breath and said, “My jeans don’t fit anymore. I couldn’t even get them past my thighs. How’s it gonna look when you, the hot popular jock, show to up a party with your whale of a girlfriend?”

She couldn’t believe he was standing in front of her.

When she got the message from Danny with nothing but a random address, she immediately rushed to her car and put it in the GPS. She just had a gut feeling that something was wrong with Steve. She had barely put the car in park and take out the key before she was running towards the front door, throwing it open.

The sight in front of her was hectic. Steve was on the couch groaning with a hand over his stomach, coated in blood. A man she didn’t know wearing glasses was rushing around grabbing supplies while Danny was pacing in front of them both, running his hands through his hair.

When they all realized she was there, everyone froze. Y/N was quick to rush over and kneel down next to her boyfriend, “Steve? I thought you were in jail! What the hell happened?” Steve just let out a groan, causing the unknown man to push her aside and start working on his stomach.

She knew getting him that bell was a dumb idea.

Noah was sick, but they had such a big house that she could never hear him when he called. They had just been using their phones, but Y/N really wanted to get some work done and she knew that as soon as she touched her phone, she would get distracted. Thus, the bell.

It wouldn’t have been so bad if he used it for major things, such as needing food or help to the bathroom, but no. Every small inconvenience seemed to need her help. This most recent time, all he needed her to do was pass him the remote control. She would have thought he was innocently just needing things if it wasn’t for the faint smirk on his face every time he walked in.

He knew exactly what he was doing. He also knew that she would never ignore it, because God forbid there was an actual emergency and she assumed he was just messing around again. She was about ready to go off on him when she heard the bell ring for the fifth time in the last hour.

She got up from her desk and started stomping towards their room, making it clear that she wasn’t happy. She had to work hard to ignore the pout on his face as she crossed her arms and send him a deadpanned look, “Yes, your highness? What can I do for you? Fan you? Feed you grapes?”

Noah chuckled, which turned into a cough that wracked his whole body. Y/N was quick to rush over and sit beside his hunched over form, rubbing his back gently. When he finished, he leaned back against her and put his head under her chin. She continued rubbing his back as she said, “I’m sorry baby, what did you need?”

Noah just shuffled closer to her and cuddled into her side as he told her, “This. I needed this.”

70. “You act tough but I know that it’s just a front. You’re a softie.”

Everyone was always in awe when they saw the way that Steve acted around Y/N.

They knew Steve as the tough, fearless soldier that never wore a smile and was always looking for a fight. When he first started working for Kono and Chin, they had no idea that he was even married, let alone that he had a daughter. As they had lived in South Korea along with the rest of the military families from the Seal Team, it took them longer to actually move to Hawaii after the news of Steve’s father’s passing. After two months of living in his father’s house alone, it was finally time for his family to come home.

He was in the Five-O headquarters trying to figure out a case with Danny, Kono, and Chin when he heard a yell behind him. “Daddy!”

The whole team turned to see a little girl running towards them, her pigtails flying behind her. Steve opened her arms just in time to catch her as she jumped towards her. He couldn’t help but laugh at the giggles that escaped his little girl’s mouth as he spun her around through the air. As if his coworkers couldn’t be more surprised, a gorgeous woman who’s looks matched the little girls walked in.

Steve put the little girl down and caught sight of his wife. The team watched as he seemed to melt at the sight of her before rushing over and wrapping her up in a hug. “I’ve missed you both so much. I can’t believe you’re actually home.”

The woman laughed as she rubbed Steve’s back before pulling away. She was about to speak when Steve pressed his lips to hers in a needy kiss. She laughed and broke away before saying, “We missed you too much to stay away for long. Sorry we interrupted, we just couldn’t wait.”

While usually Steve would be the first one to snap at someone for interrupting, they all were shocked to see him brush off the woman’s concerns. “You could never interrupt, babe. We needed a break anyways. Everyone, take your lunch breaks early. We’ll pick this up after.”

Nobody questioned him as they all rushed out. When they got back, the woman and child were gone and Steve was standing in the main area looking over the case once more. They could easily see the difference in him from how he usually was. His posture was much more relaxed and there was still the trace of a smile left on his face. It also didn’t help that he still had the woman’s lipstick on his cheek.

Chin and Kono immediately went back to working the case, but Danny just started at Steve with a smirk. Steve didn’t look up as he told him, “Just say whatever you want to say and move on, Danny boy.” Danny continued smirking as he replied,”You act tough but I know that it’s just a front. You’re a softie.”

Baseball games have become very tense since everything went down.

Jeff and Monty refused to throw to each other and were constantly making comments about how terrible the other was. They had already lost two games because of this and the coach was fed up. He called the team in for a huddle, “Okay that’s it. Atkins, de la Cruz, you’re both on the bench.”

The boys began protesting but the coach held up his hand, “Nope, I don’t wanna hear it. I want to win and I can’t do that with the crap you two are giving me out there. So you’re both gonna sit the bench until you get over whatever the hell is going on.”

With that, both boys were dismissed to the dugout. They sat on either side and refused to look at each other. Of course, they couldn’t sit in silence for long.

“Man, would you get over it already? She chose me. Move on.”

“Well, she made the wrong choice. Don’t worry, she’ll come crawling back to me soon.”

“Yeah whatever helps you sleep at night man. Until this so called crawling happens, can we just cut the crap and leave all this on the bench. I wanna play baseball. Can we just play?”

13. “I want all of you, your body, your heart, your soul.”

She both loved and hated the annual ski trip.

She loved it because Peter always made it super romantic, from teaching her how to ski and not laughing when she fell to sharing a room together, which always turned into a great night for both of them. They always had one special tradition that they were both usually excited about, but this time she was dreading it. The hot tub.

They had done it every year, getting in the hot tub on the first night. Everyone knew not to go then or they would get an unwelcome sight. Peter always managed to turn it into the most romantic part of the trip, sprinkling rose petals and lighting candles. It was usually her favorite time of the year, but she had recently gained some weight that she was now regretting. Subconsciously she knew that Peter wouldn’t care one way or another, he was completely and utterly in love with her, but she couldn’t stop her mind from thinking the worst.

Peter was definitely taken off guard when he heard the door open and his girlfriend walked out in shorts and a large t-shirt instead of her usual bathing suit, “Hey babe, you cold or something? Get your bathing suit on and hop in, the water is perfect.”

Peter sitting up didn’t help her situation as she stared at his sculpted arms and chest. She crossed her arms and shook her head before climbing up and letting her legs dangle into the water. “My bathing suit is underneath, but I’m fine. Maybe in a bit,” she told him. She knew this was the wrong move as soon as she saw Peter smirk before standing and rushing towards her. He wrapped her up in a hug, completely soaking her clothes. He was still smirking when he pulled away, “Oh damn, my bad. Guess you’ll have to lose those clothes after all.”

Y/N couldn’t stop herself from looking down and wrapping her arms around herself insecurely. This caused Peter to turn serious as he swam back over and wrapped his arms around her once more, “Hey Y/N, what’s going on?” She didn’t look up as she said, “I don’t want you to see me. I’ve gotten fat.”

Peter let out a boisterous laugh at her words, causing her to pull away and start climbing out of the water. She was stopped by a hand on her arm as he pulled her back down and cupped her face, making her look him directly in the eye. “Hey, look at me babe. You’re not fat. And even if you have gained weight, I don’t care. I want all of you, your body, your heart, your soul. Please, just come in and let me show you how much I love you.”

With a smile on her face she was comfortable enough to strip off her wet clothes and get in, ready for a romantic evening with her love.

Y/N couldn’t stop herself from glancing over at their table every few seconds.

She was barely 20 feet away and Noah was sitting right across from him, but she couldn’t stop herself from feeling nervous that she left her son basically alone. Not that she didn’t trust Noah, but they weren’t even official yet. They had only been seeing each other casually for two months, and this was only his third time meeting her son. With another nervous glance over at the two, she noticed that they seemed to be having quite a serious conversation for a 22 year old man and a 2 year old boy.

She quickly paid for the food before rushing over and taking a seat beside her son, “Looks like you guys are having fun, yeah? Here Y/S/N, I got you some cotton candy. It melts right in your mouth. Now, did you guys finish carving your jack-o-lanterns?” Y/S/N pepped up at the mention of the pumpkin in front of him.

“Yeah Mommy, Noah helped! He’s really good! Look what we drew!” Y/S/N showed her his tiny carving of what looked like three people holding hands. “See, it’s me, you, and Noah! Our family!” Y/N blushed a refused to look at Noah as she told Y/S/N, “Oh baby, well Noah isn’t really-”
