#MayVinylChallenge Day 3: Favorite national/local release. Living so close to Los Angeles, there's a lot that can be considered local, so this actually a pretty tough category. I decided to go with three local albums I've had on rotation recently. Clockwise from top left: 1. Grim Weepers by Lonesome Wyatt and the Holy Spooks. Although this album technically isn't from a local band (Lonesome Wyatt is from Wisconsin ), a friend of mine who is (@eva.wav) did backup vocals on a number of the songs. If you dig sad, creepy music, give this one a listen. 2. The Sun as it Comes by The Lonely Wild. After seeing this band live, I purchased this album at the show. I rediscovered it last week and heard it with new ears. I caught a lot that I didn't in the first few listens, and it has been a recent favorite. 3. Post-Apocalyptic Jukebox by Marquis & the Rhythm Howlers. Marquis is another friend of mine and I've been watching him in various musical endeavors for 13 or so years at this point. I haven't had a chance to see him play this lineup live yet, but this record is a tasty bit of what I'm in for.
